Take him for Chm just a wonderful teacher. He just wants to see you succeed. I must say I enjoy his class
This professor is awesome! i took him for CHM1033 and he makes the class super easy to understand. I took him for a 6 weeks course. Theres 3 tests and a final, but if your passing the 3 tests with a B or higher you dont have to take the final. GREAT PROFESSOR! Definately would recomend him.
Greatest prof ever, had him for summer 2013 I didn't regret it a bit. Miss 2 days still end up with a B. I'm looking to take him for the lab next summer .
This prof is the best. He know his material, he give lot of example in class, he send u a lot of extra problems to do for your own benefit, plus u have the book problems. This prof test is easy if you r willing to study but if u don't want to study then don't take him. He is so good. Don't even think about it JUST SIGN UP Plz u will not regret.
This professor is the best professor ever that can teach this class. He know his material really well, he give a lot of example, and he will not move on until you understand. Please don't even think twice about this professor, hurry up and add him to your shopping cart. If you take any other professor for this class you will fail just being honest.
He is a great chemistry professor. He knows he stuff. I took his lecture and lab class. He is always willing to help his students. He can be a bit moody at times. But overall, I think he us the best science I had thus far.
I don't know where to begin. He never answers your email. He does not go by the syllabus at all. Do not take him he is not very helpful. Waste of money and time!!
Does not respond to emails. Its intense stuff but as long as you study it can be very easy. He lets you know what to expect on test. Overall a great teacher. Very easy highly recommend
He is very unpredictable. His class can be easy if you read and study all of the chapters he assigns to the class (sarcasm). No review sheet either. He does not teach you everything from the book that will be on the test, so study everything!!!
If you have a good background in chem 1 you should do well in this class. I had my friend help me on the difficult chapters which he ended up making the test online for anyway. The final was all the questions from old test.+ he drops your lowest grade. He has turn in hw=easy. Quiz's given random. Test r imp. Get help if you need it and get an A. :)
Chem is not an easy class to begin with, but with that being said Professor Hamilton is very clear and explains the materials in a way thats easy to understand. He gives 4 exams plus final no extra credit but he drops your lowest grade.
Just finished his 6 week summer session and so happy to have had him as my professor. He takes his time to explain the material (very similar to kahn academy)and wants his students to do well. I will definitely take him for lab in the fall.
Had him for lecture &lab. lab was a breeze. Study you can cause he doesnt tell you exactly whats going to be on the test. Sometimes I felt like he would leave the class hanging cause most people over studying and still low test grades Dont drop the class if you get C's&D's on testes cause the HW&Quiz boost your grades if you get A's on them.
YOU MUST STUDY IN ORDER TO PAST. get the text book, you'll need it for the HW and quizzes which will help u a lot at the end. The professor is awesome, he knows his stuff and can actually teach! I had him for both lecture and lab and past both with an A. Watch out for his face expressions though, there priceless lol. TAKE HIM!
I took him for Session 2 lab for CHM1045. I wanted A ended with low B. Before you come to class google lab online and see how professionals do it. He will help you but sometimes he is not clear. Also go to tutoring center to check your work. Tests are terrible. Didn't know what to study, on my final scored 70. Overall he is nice and funny man.
He is a very good teacher and nice guy. My class had a total of 12 labs and 3 tests, two of which are online, but the final you better have studied.
He is a very fair teacher. he is good at what he does you do not need a textbook because everything you need is in d2l YOU MUST STUDY TO PASS!!! YOU MUST STUDY TO PASS!!!! YOU MUSTTTTTTTT STUDY TO PASS!! He keeps the class interesting and often take the same exact homework questions and put them on an exam you get to drop your lowest exam grade
The teacher is annoying with nothing but time so expect tough grading. If you want someone who is there to help you understand and awnser questions do not take this teacher.
Really tough grader, but all you have to do is practice from the textbook before the test and also go over your notes. you'll find him awesome if you put in time.
Great teacher, you will pass if you read his notes on D2L. He is very good at explaining and making sure you understand the concepts.
This is an easy class. You have to be there to get a grade literally. He is an awesome teacher however he takes for ever to grade your assignments. If you have questions he will answer them but kinda gives a slick remark prior. Other than that he's a great teacher fun class.
Dr. Sean is a very good prof. He knows what he's doing and willing to answer any questions you may have. If you study enough it is sure you will get an A.
Excellent professor who takes time to answer questions. Participation in class is required,as her give points for that. He grades exams same day it's given but takes forever to reply to email. Overall he's a cool professor who makes learning chemistry interesting.
Mr Hamilton is clear on what he teaches and will explain what you dont understand expect to read read read!!!!!!!!!!!
BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR
Best Chemistry Professor Hands Down ! He knows his stuff. Girl you need to take his classssssssssssss. You wont regret it. Just show up ever class and study his power points. Extra credit when you answer questions.
He was a pretty good professor! I took him for chem lab and he would always help you, not by necessarily giving you the answer but by guiding on how to find the answer. I'm not sure if I would take him again but he was still very nice and helpful.
Great class to take. He will make you love and respect chemistry. His aim is for the students to learn and pass this course. Greatest class ever. I would recommend him to any one .
Hamilton is a good professor. i took him for lab and he helps you out anytime you needed and grades very easy
He knows how to teach and will answer any questions you have. He puts reviews on d2l before each test and puts you in groups to help you understand. There are 4 tests and he drops the lowest one. Overall great professor! Really knows his stuff and definitely recommend him. Made chemistry fun!!!!
Amazing teacher! 10 labs, and drops the lowest lab. 2 exams, one was online and the other was in class. Very helpful, would take him again!
His class was easy. I accidentally took the wrong class, but I'll definitely take him again for the class that i need if he teaches it.
Do not recommend for orgo II. I did great in orgo I with a diff professor, whom not only taught concepts clearly in lecture but made tested based off of lecture material. Dr. Hamilton is vague at best about what is expected on exams, and his explanation of lecture do not help. Recording his lectures does not help, either. 0/10.
Dr. Hamilton is a friendly and knowledgable professor. Unfortunately, his lectures do not explain the material well. He makes a lot of assumptions about what students should know from previous chemistry courses, and his lectures do not often go in depth to explain "why" in orgo II, although his exams test us for this knowledge.
Professor Hamilton helps whenever you ask but that's the thing - you have to ask. He doesn't go over how to do every experiment and there are some experiments that if you mess up, you have to start all over. He takes a long time to grade work too. I didn't get the grades for 7 experiments until the last 2 weeks of the session.
5 exams, drops the lowest so its behoove you to do well on the first 4 so you wont have to take the final. His tests are not that bad just study hard. 15 HW due at the END of the semester, 50 points extra credit, 2 group assignments, 10 quizzes (2 in class, rest online)A lot of ways to earn points in his class
Took this class in 6 weeks, he was clear and concise and always went straight to the point - experiments. It's fun but you have to read the manual before going to class. He'll also drop the lowest experiment and the lowest test grade. Overall great and enjoyable class.
Dr. Hamilton is very fair in his grading. There are many opportunities to get extra points (attend the ASC for up to 50 points extra and awards points to questions answered in class). Gives all his homework's at the beginning and makes them due later in the semester. His tests correlate well with his lectures, quizzes and HW's. MUST study do well.
You have to study hard for this class. Make sure to participate and go to ASC to get extra credit points. If you do the practice and homework it will help you on the test. Dr. Hamilton is a good teacher and will answer your questions. Make sure you attend class or you WILL be lost. He drops the lowest grade so keep your grades up. STUDY STUDY STUDY
I can't say enough about this professor. I had him in my first semester back to college after six years and he was nothing short of amazing. Chemistry is not a strong subject of mine and he is great at explaining it in simple terms to understand. If anyone is leaving bad reviews it is because they didn't take the time and effort to actually learn.
You WILL be lost, if you don't go to class. He's a great professor, and very fair with grading! Chemistry isn't a strong subject of mine, but he did a good job with explaining it. Although homework and quizzes are online, tests aren't; so, make sure you study! P.S. If you go to the Academic Success Center in the library, he gives you extra credit!
tough prof. but Chem is not easy. Quizzes online which saved me but exams are difficult. read READ ReAd if u can afford get the book, lots of studying and reading to pass. the material is rough self teach. was pretty boring. Def a class id take along with easier ones. ( NO EXTRA CREDIT ) you will def earn every point lol
Dr. Hamilton gives a lot of extra credit but if he didn't many would not pass. The exams are harder than the material covered in class. He doesn't return any work back to you so it's hard to know if you understand the material or are doing the problems correctly. He isn't helpful when asked and makes things more complicated than it needs to be.
15 lab assignments, 2 practicals. Worst science professor I've ever had. Grades incredibly hard and takes forever to grade. Doesn't care if you work hard he will still take points off and does NOT help in lab. If you take him get ready to fight for your grade.
It's a science so it wont be easy, but he does his best to help you understand. Everything on the Exam/Quiz are on D2L slides or taught during lecture (he will say its on the exam). Gives extra credit for answering questions during class. Funny and cool teacher. best advice: 1) Read ahead 2) Do practice questions 3) Dont miss class 4) STUDY!!!
Attendance is optional, Quizzes and hw are online, Exam comes from powerpoint, will give hint on what will be on the test. 4 exams, 2 quizzes, 10 hw. Drops lowest exam grade, so final is optional. Gives extra credit for answering questions in class and gives up to 25 points for going to ASC lab. 1 hr 1pt. Some hw questions will appear on test.
Professor Hamilton is an excellent and thoughtful professor. He is tough but fair. Organic chemistry II is a difficult subject and you have to study to pass the class. If you want to learn the material then take him but if you are like too many students who just want an easy A take another professor.
Chemistry is really hard for me but he really tries to help students out. He gives out reviews for the test and is available to help students outside of class. Lessons are done by powerpoints. He'll teach different thing of the powerpoints and you have to be there in class. Going to the lab helped me and it counts as extra credit.
He's a good professor but sometimes help make you think you don't know it when you know it. There 4 exams, 10 homework, 5 quizzes, 2 group assignment, and extra credit. Everything is on the powerpoints and the extra credit is going to the chem lab.
Professor Hamilton was amazing. The reviews on here are full of crap because he was really a great professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and always offers his expertise. He truly cares about the success of his students. All you have to do is be on time and put forth the effort.
I was in his blended class and initially struggled as my understanding of a blended class was that lecturers take place. He gave all the material needed, answered and explained all that was asked. Encouraged using the lab by offering extra credit for attending the lab. Exam study guide with practise quizzes, all group work graded and is open book
He is one of the best Chem teacher at BC, if i had to take him again i would definitely hv.
I took him for CHEM1032 Lab and the lecture... you will learn from this class and get a good grade but you have to work for it, pay attention to his lecture, write notes... I took it in the summer term so it was pretty fast. A good advice would be to practice a lot at home to be prepared, study from his Practice Tests and Homeworks! -davb.
There's never a dull moment in his class. He cares about his students and he wants everyone to do well. Chemistry is not an easy A but he gives you that opportunity! If you want it, work for it. He's by far the best professor at BC! TAKE HIM!!!
Great teacher. He wants you to pass but its up to you to engage and study the material. Positive attitude, funny at times, great learning environment. Take his class you will enjoy it.
Class was a little hard, but I think it still would have been even with another professor. He didnt really help too much during lab, and didnt grade labs fast enough, but I like his grading scale which doesnt place too much weight on the midterm/final. Takes away points for not following lab rules/procedures.
I took him for lecture (blended) & lab over the summer. I dont recommend taking him for blended because he doesnt lecture he just give you worksheets and sit down. At first it was hard. But once I start studying I did good. If you lazy and dont like to study, its gon b hard 4 u. U hav to work for the grd. Extra credit for goin 2 the lab.
Just sit , he doesnt do anything. You have to do everything by yourself. He gives heavy test even though he doesnt do anything.
Hardest most awful class I've had. He doesn't want to answer your qns, he doesn't teach, never responds to his emails. He even uses different professor video lectures for his blended class. What the hell is he getting paid for?? Whenever I asked him a qn he gave me that sarcastic look. Chemistry is hard but this guy makes it harder.
This is a blended class but honestly it is the same thing as taking it fully online. The professor does not teach at all! This is has been a very hard class having to teach yourself. Save yourself the hour a week going in and just take it online if you plan to take this professor.
His syllabus is very clear and sets his expectations from the jump class was hard but if dedicated you will pass. gives 25 extra credit points. Grading criteria decent. Take him if you can teach yourself. ALL questions on test are from study guide.
If you're lazy just RUN!!! He's a good professor but doesn't lecture. Might seem hard but his class is doable. You have 3 tests + the final, but the final is optional if you like your grades. If you watch the videos, go over the notes and create your own and study, you'll do just great. If you don't understand sum and go to him he will explain it.
Before coming to class every week, you need to complete your post-lab from the previous lab, the pre-lab for the week you're in and finish with the lab of last week. His class is not hard if you work for it. Before every lab he will explain to you what to do and put you with someone else to work. I think he's one of the best chem professors for BC
Professor Hamilton is a very knowledgeable Professor who has a lot of experience and wisdom in his field to share. Organic chemistry is a very tough subject, he was able to explain it in a way that made sense to me. He also rewards students who spend time in the library studying and participate in class with extra credit.
This MAN is TOO SARCASTIC FOR MAN KIND!!! RUN AWAY ESPECIALLY FOR LAB. If you know your stuff take him.. Study the specifics of the experiments while your doing them for the practical. YOU have to KNow What your doing he wont help YOU. Period. Or he WILL LAUGH IN YOUR FACE...
Professor Hamilton is Gangsta!
He's the best professor of them all at Broward College. Take him you won't regret it.
Took him online was worried at first but passed. He drops the lowest grades on tests and quizzes and a bonus assignment
this was an online class. I preferred the online class. you have to complete all the coursework on knewton. quizzes on every chapter which is directly related to the coursework. 5 exams. 2 proctored and 3 open book. lowest exam is dropped. 2 papers. He takes a while to reply for any questions. do the work and you will pass.
Took him online and honestly I was scared about what my grade would turn like base on the reviews. Overall, he was a decent professor. He would take a min to grade papers and he also had poor communication. Basically, just do ur newton work, work ahead of time, and you should be fine honestly. He drops lowest tests grades & provided extra credit.
Solid choice for Lab. U have to read the material yourself n take a quiz before class, only 1 try so get it right on the first attempt. Quick with emails but when I emailed him because I missed a quiz, due to the fact it wasnt appearing in my d2l inclasshe said everyone else took it n he would look into it. He ignored the email; missed that grade.
This teacher lacks communication he doesn't really respond to emails sometimes and he takes a very long time to grade the homework from the lab. Other than that though he does give feedback for the most of his assignments and he did round me up a percent. All-in-all this is a relaxed teacher but a little bit too much. You'll do ok in his class.
he doesn't teach, didn't even show up to class once. well, we complained and he scheduled a class for one week, but didn't show up for that either (or for any of the weeks after). classwork was a youtube tutorial simulator
Even though I received an A in the class, it was honestly no thanks to this professor. Me & my classmates managed to complete the work with the help of each other. Weve only had ONE class meeting for the entire semester. He rarely answered emails. There was always a problem with tests & it took him forever to grade lab reports. 0/10 for me.
Took this professor this spring and he was okay. From my experience, he doesn't respond to emails. Lectures are YouTube videos, doesn't really teach. The exams are very similar to the hw and practice work he gives out. Light work, 5 HW assignments, but 3 out of 4 Exams will be proctored. Professor drops the lowest exam grade. He give Extra Credit!
This is ORGO 2, it's not going to be easy at all. He gave us soo many opportunities to build our grade up even if we bombed our exams. We got EC for answering questions during lecture, being in class when he gave out EC, going to the ASC - he gave us freaking MC questions, I mean come on. This man wants you to win! Stop complaining! TYSM Prof Ham.
Only take if you careless about learning the subject and only need an easy "A" in CHEM. The entire course is designed by Knewton, a computer based program that tests your knowledge. The better you answer the questions the quicker you fly through each unit. Using Quizlet and Chegg help. 13 units, 13 quizzes, 5 tests, 2 short papers, 2 discussions.
Professor Hamilton is the worst professor ever. He doesnt answer emails, doesnt post grades, doesnt post homework until the last minute or not at all, and will give you an exam on things not covered in depth in class. I took him for both lecture and lab. Both were a JOKE. Everyone was failing so he had to curve or make up a grade lol.
New labs every week - some take two weeks to do. Lab reports are due before the day of the new lab. For some labs, it was difficult since explanations at the beginning of class were unclear, but can be done individually, so explanations are not needed all the time. If you have late assignments, email it to him and he'll consider grading it.
It expected to know the material even if you never taken a course of chemistry in your life. It's always lectures but he does not really explain things. He's overall a chill teacher he gives extra points for coming and extra points on hard questions. This class is a self teach class. If you are someone who does not like self teach I would avoid it
I had him for chem lab and honestly he was a great professor! He's hilarious and he demonstrates well. If you have any questions or you're unsure of what to do, he'll be glad to help. Just make sure to show up to class. He gives extra points for wearing your goggles and lab coat, and just your behavior in class overall. Easy class.
I took this class online. The course was easy to understand and tests were not complicated.
OKay he will make sure all of his students pass his class and not only that he is one of the only science professors that will give you extra credit. He made sure that everyone in the class new what the exams is based. he would even give you the questions that will be on the test, I wish he was a AP professor because his teaching style is amazing
I took this class online. The class was pretty easy and very doable. Absolutely hard to fail this class.
I would not take this professor for lecture, or take him again at all. Exams are easy only if you get the material. Everyone in my class failed, even failed the exams.
I highly don't recommend. He read everything from the slide presentations and didn't stop to ask if we understood or if we had any questions. We barely had homework assignments. When we asked the professor if we would get homework any time soon, he literally said that would be to much grading for him to do.
Dr Hamilton saved me, I took CHM1032 before with a different professor and failed but I got an A with him. I only took is lecture but he is very experienced with his material. If you answer a question during lecture he gives 2-3 extra credit points. He has review questions which help a lot. Tests were based on the powerpoints. Just study
Course is taught entirely by Knewton Alta software, which I found to be a poor learning method. However, it is probably impossible to fail the class. There was hardly any need to communicate with the professor, unless you have questions about the material. Extra credit is offered.
Like his CHM 1032 course, you have to actively try to fail this class. Each module consists of a short reading, a pre-lab and post-lab video by Dr. Russell Betts (another professor at BC), and a data sheet where you might have to do an online simulation or an at-home lab activity. Course was well organized, and the material was clear and helpful.
Professor Hamilton was a great teacher to me. Attendance was not mandatory but he takes attendance. He just won't kick you out after the 3rd absence. He is good at explaining and welcome any questions. Participation is a big thing and he gives extra credit. Not a lot of homework. Overall easy class as long as you keep up.
Not a bad teacher for Chem 1 Lab. Attendance is mandatory but that is normal for labs. However, he doesn't respond to emails, so you have to save your questions for the next class or his office hours. He does a brief explanation on the lab before you start then he lets you go on your own. He lets you leave class early when you finish.
Never really got to know the prof. cuz 99% of the time you are following the lab manual and you just go up to him when you need help. He's kind, always willing to help, and pretty accessible outside of class. The only thing I didn't like was last minute grading; he graded my assignments 5 days before the semester ended including the Final.
Took his online class and the assignments were very long but the instruction videos included were extremely helpful and helped me understand the concepts so much more. He was a quick grader and always gave good feedback. Definitely would take it again
If you're taking the blended course, you are screwed. At the 1st day of class he will tell you "I am not going to lecture at all, for that you have the online textbook". Be prepared to learn on your own. His classes are just setting you up for failure, you will go in and he will pair you into groups and that's it. No one helps no one in this class.
Tough class in general but the professor tells you exactly how it is. Provides all the information you need for each exam and clear grading scale. Offers a bunch of extra credit based on your participation. No real excuse to not pass if you apply yourself
Took Dr. Hamilton for CHM1032 and CHM1032L, and would say classes were easy. Two out of the five tests were open book, but for the others I would study since no review is provided. I truly enjoyed his class, the only "complaint" would be he does take awhile to grade assignments.
I took him for lab only. Very direct and easy to follow syllabus. The only thing is you don't know what you get in the class until the end. puts "0" as place holders until graded. all exams honor locked. Overall the class was EASY. it does take a while for him to respond to emails so create a group chat with classmates.
Great professor, honest and upfront. He provides information of the text book in power points and provides practice exams if you apply yourself you will pass.
1032 lab was not so hard you have a pre lab to do before class, the lab and then the post lab. It seems like a lot but it's not that hard. Great professor and while you do the experiments he does not hover over you. Will answer any questions you have. He does take a while to answer email so just ask him after or before class.
I took Dr. Hamilton for chemistry lab, which was not as easy because you had to study a lot and know the material. The only downside is that he rarely responds to emails. I also disliked the fact that we couldn't see which quiz questions we had answered incorrectly.
Never take this professor! Absolutely worst science teacher I have ever had to endure. Never answers emails, gives 0 reviews/feedback, and lets most if not all class fail his exams without any help. No extra credit either. Takes forever to grade written homework assignments. Doesn't calculate the total grade in D2L, so you could fail and not know.
The class was standard with a lot of assignments to help bring up your grade and help you out if you're struggling. At the end of every two or three weeks there are two units, with quizzes and assignments, due and a test. Overall pretty easy to handle with a lot of time to get everything done.
The entire course was comprised of Knewton assignments on chemistry, organic chemistry, then biology. There are two essay assignments, but the Knewtons held up your grade because they were all completion. He has clear-cut rubrics and each exam is worth only 25 points. Just make sure to follow the course schedule to not miss any due dates!
Decent professor, you just have to learn everything on your own, not much from him is provided, only the knewton alta program which is not helpful in terms of learning the material. I sent him an email once in the semester and he replied pretty quickly. I wouldnt take him again bc he graded harshly with no feedback, and if there is it is very vague
Lots of homework and tests without actual teaching. Don't except any extensions either.
Expect to teach yourself everything. No extensions either. No reviews or study guides. Terrible communication and doesn't release final grades until class is already over.
Professor Hamilton's class is very straightforward. For assignments, follow exactly what the rubric says, and you'll get full points. The tests were worth 100 points, so unless you had an amazing grasp of the material, it'd be hard to do well on them. Failing tests will bring your grade down and assignments won't help boost it, so choose carefully.
Did not really like his class he teaches everything on a PowerPoint. The textbook will answer your questions better than he will. If you ask him a question he kind of looks at you like it was a stupid question but if you answer a question correctly he does give points. Homework was pretty easy though and he does let you use notes on the quizzes.
I had him for both Chem lecture and lab...all I can say is, good luck. You'll need it.
Hands down THE WORST teache I have ever had. I probably send over 10 emails on both D2L and Outlook, he did not respond to any of my emails. He also never graded any of my assignments that were completed. I failed his class and I did all of my work. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!
Professor Hamilton's class is manageable if you stay engaged. The lectures can feel a bit 'by the book', but he's happy to clarify concepts. Using unstuck ai alongside the course materials helped me prep effectively.
This has been the worst online class I've ever taken. Professor Hamilton is very inaccessible and hard to reach. He doesn't take time to respond to emails whatsoever and even when he does, it's something like “google it”. He gives an insane amount of work with very short time and hard exams. Exam grades always have mistakes. Horrible Professor.
Professor was horrible, expect to go about a week before getting a response. His communication skills are HORRIBLE, there are 30000 newton assignments, like 40 pages to read per unit with no other good material to learn from. exams are misleading, doesn't tell you how to round, what content to focus on, etc. also no announcements or anything. AVOID
Professor Hamilton was one of my favorite teachers at BC. His lectures are clear and straightforward. He makes jokes not all of them are funny but he tries. He doesn't give too many homeworks. It's an easy class as long as you pay attention in class and it's even easier if you have some basic background knowledge about chemistry.
Respectfully, this professor was horrible. I prayed D2L would crash worldwide before logging into his class. He took so long to respond to emails, horrible communication skills. Responds very late with the most unhelpful replies. The exams are misleading, you get points off for not rounding but the question would never state to round. Avoid him.
