Sean is the NICEST guy and such a wonderful teacher. he is so passionate about what he teaches and I truly can't thank him enough for all of his hard work
ONE OF THE NICEST GUYS YOU'LL EVER MEET. HIS LOVE OF ASTRONOMY IS INFECTIOUS. HE IS SO HELPFUL AND ENCOURAGING. MADE THE CLASS SO MUCH FUN. HE REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS. I WOULD REPEAT THIS CLASS WITH HIM JUST FOR FUN.
Super nice guy and loves physics. Easy A or B. Puts practice test with answers online. Over half of those questions were on the tests. HW is graded on whether you did it rather than accuracy. 3 hr class was a little long but he did his best to make it fun. Lot's of cool demos. Definitely recommend taking the class. Fun, easy, and you learn a lot!
i love this guy he's so cute and will actually make you laugh which is deff a plus if your in a class for 3 hours. Out of all the teachers i have got so far he is the most eager to help his students most teachers don't want to be bothered study the practice questions and do the homework and you'll do fine. His demos are actually interesting too
Sean is super nice, funny and passionate. He gets you really excited about astronomy and keeps the class really entertaining. I was really sad when the semester was over but learned a lot! I Definitely recommend the class.
He's a really funny and passionate guy who genuinely cares about his students. You can tell he loves his job, and it's a pleasure just to go to his class. If you choose not to enroll in his class you're really missing out
He is an amazing teacher who is very passionate about physics. He goes through material quickly but is more than willing to sit down with you during lab or office hours to answer any questions you have. He is an all around great teacher!
Amazing teacher definitely take his class if you can!!
Ok teacher! He's not the worst physics teacher. It's his first year teaching physics but I think he will get better. His thoughts aren't organized and it shows up in his lecturing style. He tends to loose patience when he can't answer a question but bluffs it off with some kind of joke.
Very helpful teacher! There was some places that needs to be more clear (organization, lecture style), but this was his first time teaching at a college level course so I don't blame him. I feel that most people underestimated the class and didn't put enough effort. If you use his office, lab, and study session, he will help you out to hs fullest.
great guy, always has me laughing, and his lectures are amazing. He surprises you with the difficulty of the class being that he is such an easy going guy. His test are defiantly tough but the rest of the assignments are a few online quiz's which are super easy, if you study 7 hours a week for this class you'll defiantly be getting a B in the class
Okay, hes an easy teacher who will give out a mountain of extra credit, not challenging at all. He goes off on tangents and rarely gets through the material needed for quizzes and tests.
Sean is such a great enthusiastic teacher! He loves physics and really wants you to love it too. His lectures are both informative and funny because he has a good sense of humor. Very easy to approach and talk to, he tries to be your peer. I really liked his class and would take more classes from him.
Inspirational Lectures filled with passionate knowledge and love for his field! Tough test but way worth it! Sean is a great guy always willing to offer a helping hand. TAKE THIS CLASS
I took him for conceptual physics. BEST TEACHER EVER!!! So helpful. Really wanted students to enjoy the material. Was available to help you whenever you needed it. Lectures were straight forward and hw wasn't too lengthy. Very nice dude. 1010 recommend.
Such a great, funny, hilarious teacher, and good and what he does
I dreaded the thought of having to take astronomy due to my past experiences in Science but having Sean as a professor made learning so much fun! He can get a little side-tracked with his stories and music but class taught by him was always fun and interesting. He loves his students and loves science, I highly recommend Sean!
Sean was the best science teacherprofessor I have ever had! His constant enthusiasm and Queen music videos got me through the semester. Fairly easy class, I had a C average on the exams and with extra credit got bumped up to an A. His lectures are always interesting and if you love quirky and kind professors you'll love Sean. Take this class!
Dr. Kelly is an excellent teacher. He makes physics fun and I really wish he was still teaching this class, for future generations' sakes. He has this upbeat personality that makes you excited to learn. The best way I could describe his teaching style and demeanor is: imagine if Jim Carrey was a physics teacher.
Sean Kelly is great. There are 3 exams & the final. If you go to the tutors you get extra credit & you get 15 questions that will be on the exam. If you memorize those, plus all the online quizzes then you're pretty much set for the exams but do the study guides I finished with an A- after working hard all semester, emailed him, he raised my grade!
Sean is just awesome! He is such a lovely and funny person and makes class pretty easy ;) take his class if you can
Dr. Sean Kelly's lectures are very insightful and contagious because there is a passion in every lecture I've attended. Dr. Kelly wrote a letter of recommendation for me for a scholarship. Take this guy if you can because his knowledge of physics and applied sciences is far out, enthusiastic, and influential.
I really was not stoked to be doing science during the summer but Sean made it enjoyable, and quickly 8:45 a.m. did not seem so painfully early anymore. I am glad I took astronomy with him because he is so smart and passionate about what he is teaching. He is so helpful and nice, you will love his class! 1010 , I will always remember this class.
He's a good teacher, but he gets distracted and goes off on tangents a lot, so he never seems to finish his lectures. The class was easy.
Science isn't usually my thing. I do it to check it off my list. But, this class has made me consider majoring in astrophysics! Sean is funny, inspirational, and very clear in his explanations. He is an awesome teacher!
Sean is awesome! If you're taking astro 101 defiantly take him over the other teachers. He's really funny in class and always nice and helpful. He uses basically the same questions on quizzes and tests so you really learn everything. He gives tons of extra credid and it was an easy A, but I never missed a class either and did all the reading.
Sean is such a great teacher and really funny professor. He is super inspirational and you should take this class because it is really cool to learn about the space!! Loved this class!
Definitely recommend!! He is super passionate about the subject and definitely knows what he is talking about! Super funny and keeps the energy alive in the classroom. Offers a lot of extra credit which is nice! One of the best professors I had at SBCC!
Best teacher ever!
Material on exams is not what is taught, everything is very confusing and he does not clarify a lot of difficult topics. Lectures were rushed and we were always behind. Kelly would try and teach a full chapter in a class. Expect material on exams that is not covered in class and not in the textbook.
Amazing professor! Exams are tough but he offers loads of extra credit! Do the extra credit and you'll get a good grade. He's hilarious and very approachable as well. A+ teacher :)
Sean is so funny! I am not a sciency kinda person, but he made this interesting because of his energy and humor. I took this class P/N and it was extremely easy to pass. He gives SO much extra credit. Weekly quizzes online. Easy to find answers online. Just studied the quizzes for the tests and got Bs on all of them. 3 tests and final.
Funny guy but rushed through lectures (especially towards the end of the semester). Don't use his powerpoints to study, he often talk a lot along with them and they don't have a lot of info you need. Don't forget to do the online quizzes and see the tutors, this is your best chance to pass the tests.
This guy totally changed my view on astronomy. I only took this class because I needed a science but I ended up totally getting it and becoming really interested in space! It'll make you appreciate our planet and understand!
What a professor! :) The content is tough but if you study and do all the extra credit you will get a good grade. I had no interest in astronomy prior to taking this course but after having Sean Kelley as a teacher I love it! Take this class! You won't regret it :) He's the best professor at SBCC no doubt!
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had. If you go over the Moodle quizzes you will get an A he takes pretty much every question from those. He's hilarious and makes the class really interesting!
Sean is the absolute best! He reminds me of a SoCal Bill Nye. He is so smart and incredibly funny! The class is very hard but he makes it bearable. Do the online quizzes bc they add up in the end. I constantly see Sean out of class sitting with students or speaking with others. Trust me, you'll love him.
He truly loves what he does! He puts his students first, he wants you to do well! Each week you had 2-4 short (10 min) videos to watch and answers questions (get 3 tries). You have online chapter quizzes due anytime before a test (get 2 tries). He offers LOTS of extra credit. Don't get the book, use the libraries. See the tutors their awesome!
I love this guy. Because of his class I changed my major. If you engage yourself and find science interesting it should be an easy A. Just be responsible and do your work and the extra credit and there's no way you won't get an A. Best teacher I have ever had at City College.
I just cannot say enough great things about Sean. What an amazing professor. He loves his students and we love him. He is so funny but by the end of the course you really learn. Start strong, tests get harder so get good grades at start. Tons of extra credit ops. Can literally jump 1 letter grade if you do all the ex cred. Go to tutors for points.
Took Sean's Earth101 astronomy class and although it was a tough class it was my favorite class. He is easy going and makes the lectures fun because he is so funny and a really great person. His lectures are long and cover a lot of material which can be difficult. Gives a lot of extra credit and hw is just online quizzes and chapter reading.
Great teacher. Lots of extra credit... do it. He makes everything interesting, and he can explain everything very well. Emails back quite fast. Always keeps grades posted. Get ready to study!!
He is supper smart, funny and handsome !
Favorite class I've taken by far. A lot of information in this class but you have access to 10 questions on each exam beforehand. The online chapter quizzes are the same questions as on the exam. You do NOT need the book, almost everything can be found online. Best lectures at sbcc, be prepared to laugh a lot and have your mind blown by science
Yeah, he is funny. However this semester (Spring 17) he sucked with getting study guides out on time and didn't finish teaching us all the material we were about to be tested on before exams. We have a test this Thursday and he didn't get us the 4 page study guide until Monday. Talk about stressing. I hope he doesn't do this to his future students.
Loved Sean!!! he cares so much about the subject and is so into physics and astronomy it makes the class fun and interesting!
Not to be dramatic but Sean Kelly is the greatest human being on Earth. He is hilarious and knows how to make lectures interesting. If you don't quite understand something, he will help you out with no hesitation. There are 3 exams throughout the semester and he gives the best prep. There are also a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Sean is the best teacher!! His tests are easy if you read the chapters and show up to and pay attention in class. Fun videos for every lecture, and really light on homework. Awesome class!!!
Sean tries to pass on advices for life, and is absolutely hilarious, there wasnt one class where at least 1 student would laugh their ass off. Besides, he has an absolutely clear grading criteria, goes by the book, if you study the chapters and study guides youre set for an A.
sean is just the nicest, funniest and coolest professor you will ever have!!! His class is so easy he always keeps the class alive which is good. You honestly just have to show up and do your assignments on canvas and you should be good and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. Theres only 4 test including the final which arent to bad.
Best teacher I had at this college. Nice guy, interesting class, and very easy. No stress in getting an A if you just pay attention in class. Awesome guy!
He made aiming to class fun and interesting.
He makes lecture time go by so quick. He's super funny and wants everyone to succeed. He gives you enough homework to be able to maintain a good grade and understand each topic to the fullest extent. He is an awesome teacher that I would take again 100%
I have always struggled in science but Sean Kelly really made me enjoy this class. His lectures are fun and he's really good at engaging his students. The only thing that kind of sucks is the way he does homework. The deadline for crash courses doesn't matter but the smartworks assignments need to be done by the due date. Stay on top of assignments
Sean is great! Get ready to hear so many dad jokes! The homework and the participation take a lot of the weight off of tests so it is not a big deal if you do poorly on the tests (I got an A and got mostly A- and B's on the tests). Its an easy and interesting class
Professor Kelly is one of, if not the, best professors I have ever had. He is incredibly caring, very knowledgable, and great at explaining things. He takes his job above and beyond and truly has a passion for what he does. Very inspirational. Funny guy too. Can not stress enough. TAKE HIS CLASSES! Would give over 5 stars if I could!
Very Friendly and understanding teacher. Makes class interesting and Fan. Defiantly would recommend his class.
Sean Kelly is one of the most sweetest and down to earth caring professors at sbcc. Like seriously he WANTS his students to pass so he gives so much extra credit, you can do bad on the finals but if you do good on the easy online assignments and do all the ec you will pass with an A. Show up to class, the attendance matter.
He is one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. He is so obviously passionate about anything to do with astronomy and ready to help any of his students. He is always offering his time if a student needs help and always gives you opportunities for extra credit. If you want to learn about astronomy while enjoying yourself this is the class to take.
Professor Kelly is absolutely the best professor or teacher I have ever had. Not only does he teach amazingly, he also genuinely wants kids to learn and cares.
Professor Kelly is the man! One of the best professors I've had. His class is super straight forward - its not a walk in the park but if you go to class and do the assignments you'll do well. His lectures are interesting and engaging. If you are having trouble go and see him in office hours, always available to help. Recommend !!
Sean is honestly the nicest professor ever. But his lectures are boring sometimes and gets out of topic super fast. I didn't pass any of the exams and I still passed the class with a B+ because all the homework he puts! Lowkey easy but takes time!
Mr. Kelly is a wild, wacky and fun professor that deserves his own tv show! I may have just skated by with a B-, but he was such a fun professor, and he gave me a new appreciation of the cosmos and the field of astronomy and astrophysics. A lot of material to cover, but he gives you lots of easy extra credit. Don't miss the Griffith Observatory!
Sean Kelly has a great personality and seems like a great guy. The problem is he is not a great teacher. He is all over the place with his lectures and does not cover all of the chapters on the exams. He expects students to have a lot of time outside of class to do extra credit (most of which costs money). I would not recommend him.
Probably one of the best humans on the planet. Loved this guy and his class. There is a lot of online work outside of lecture but it all sets you up for success.
Professor Kelly was amazing!! His class definitely made it easier to wake up at 8am. There were some pop quizzes however, he usually tells you when to expect a quiz. He also lets us use all of our notes on both the quizzes and the tests. I would totally recommend taking one of his classes.
Amazing professor! That's the best I way can sum up Mr. Kelly. He cares and has a passion for what he teaches, and about his students. Lectures contain useful and interesting information, and his study guides pretty much cover the whole test. If you do the homework he assigns and show up to class, I guarantee you will at least receive a B.
If you don't have any outside commitments (work) other than school, this class is for you. Sean is nice and all but his class is based pretty much purely on participation and extra credit. Lectures are useless, just learn what's on the study guide. So disappointed in this class and professor, I expect more from a man who has a Ph.D. in his field.
Sean Kelly is fun you want to come to class. He brightens up your day and creates a great learning experience. I initially thought Oh no, Astronomy its going to be so difficult! It wasnt! He eases in the subject, there is no way you can fail, he also provides plenty of extra credit
This is the best class I have ever taken! I highly recommend to anyone at SBCC. There is a lot of homework but most of it is a 10-15 minute crash course video with a 10 question quiz. It is very easy to stay ahead and you can pass without reading.
Sean is AWESOME. He really captivates your attention and makes it fun to learn astronomy. the class is super easy- just show up, participate, and take notes. He's one of my favorite teachers and an absolute crack up. take his class!
Sean really loves what he teaches, and he is an amazing professor because of it. He makes class fun. He really cares about his students and he is so funny, he always makes me smile/laugh even if I am having a really bad day. The homework is really easy, you just watch a video and answer 10 questions, and gives a lot of extra credit
I loved starting my day with Sean Kelly's class. He's a really nice guy and super passionate about astronomy.
Sean is hands down the best professor i've had in my college experience. He makes the class fun and has an endless amount of resources to help you succeed. His classes are great and fun. Theres a good amount of work to do but he will ALWAYS help in any way he can. This prof is very passionate about what he does and it shows!
Sean is a kind, fun, intelligent person and a professor who really knows his stuff. He makes sure that everyone is on the same page and that the information is explained to its fullest. Although all four exams are long, he provides plenty of extra credit opportunities that can make up lost points.
Dr. Kelly is so kind to his students, understanding, and passionate about his career. There is an organized class learning plan. He is very responsive for having so many students. Overall he is my favorite teacher and I highly recommend taking his class!
There is a lot of information to take in for the exams. Although I barely passed them, with the help of extra credit, my current grade is -A. Professor Kelly definitely makes class fun and does whatever he can to help his students. Take his class!! Also, do every HW if you want a good grade.
A nice guy and its really funny. Super all over the place, will make you study things that are not relevant for the exams. He doesn't explain things really well and goes off topic a lot. If you have other commitments outside of school, this is NOT the professor for you.
Now we are talking about a teacher who is incredibly enthusiastic about his job and loves teaching it out. He is such a great character who wants all of his students to succeed and at the same time have fun while learning. I will miss his bad jokes and karaoke-moments!! A lot of extra credit opportunities as well.
Dr. Kelly is one of the best professors. Cares about the subject and wants students to succeed. Participation is important because Exams are mostly based on lectures. Does reviews before every exam, attend them or watch on yt. Wasted $70 on textbook but never read it (if u want an A should prob buy it tho) Weekly homework watch crashcourse videos
Sean is such a nice person and his love of astronomy and teaching really shine through in the lectures. I also had him for the lab, which is probably the most fun class Ive taken. Be sure to go through the study guides thoroughly and do the extra credit and youll have nothing to worry about.
One of my faves of all time! Sweet, great sense of humor, and so interesting that attendance is mandatory just so you don't miss out on the fun! A great lab, and truly fascinating learning about the stars, etc. Definitely recommend both his ERTTH101 AND ERTH102 for your science and lab, regardless of your major.
I took Astronomy 101 with Professor Kelly and it was such a fun and easy class. The lectures were engaging and he gave a good amount of extra credit. Tests are worth 40% of your grade, so as long as you do the study guide, youll do great. We had to stop in person classes because of COVID but he made online learning enjoyable as well.
Before we went online due to COVID, this class was so easy. Just show up and participate for an A. After we went online, I didn't watch lectures and still got an A. Quizlet is your new BFF for this class, most tests/quizzes are on there. Sean is so cute in the way where u wanna hug them because they're so weird and funny. Great guy. Take for an A
Sean is simply AMAZING! I was afraid of science, as were a lot of students in this class and somehow--I don't EVEN KNOW HOW--Sean made us have fun and feel like a huge Astro family for a semester. One of the classes that is like a UCSB class. I took it my last semester before my transfer. Got me in gear. I loved this class. It helped me launch!
Dr. Sean Kelly is, by far, my all-time favorite professor! He is truly fascinated by what he teaches and spreads that to his students through his passionate lectures. He is incredibly brilliant and caring and really cares about his students and works with you towards success. He is also hilarious and his tangents are purely riveting, HE IS THE BEST
Super nice guy, obviously cares about the subject but not the best for an online class, piles on way too much busy work and quizzes. Online lectures drag on.
Sean is one of the most enthusiastic and passionate professors out there, and trust me his passion for the universe radiates onto all his students. His class is extremely engaging and fun, his lectures are interesting, he is funny and relatable, and he gives students a lot of material for tests and extra credit so they can succeed. Take this class!
I love Sean! He's the best, he loves what he does and he makes sure his students do too. As someone who doesn't consider themselves a math or science person, his ERTH101 course was perfect for students who want to learn but don't want to be scientists or astronomers. I highly recommend his class to anyone.
Best class and best teacher at SBCC. If you're thinking about taking his class do not hesitate!!
Was going through a lot with covid and missed dozens of assignments. Sean was so helpful and let me turn in everything for full credit. My grade went from a low C to an A+. Sean is genuinely one of those teachers who just wants you to succeed. Always so kind, funny, and caring. Do the work and ask him if you need help. Sean if you see this, ily!!!
Dr. Kelly does such a great job making this class fun and interesting- even during the pandemic. He is so caring towards his students and its so great to see his lectures every morning. He keeps it interesting and makes it clear that his students are extremely important to him. Definitely take astronomy with him!
Dr Kelly is so helpful, caring and a professor who genuinely cares about the well being of his students. His lectures guides us through exactly what you need to know on the quizzes and so taking notes is helpful.
Sean's the best! It's obvious that he loves what he teaches; his lectures never felt like a chore, although he tends to get off topic easily. I took ERTH101 as a dual enrollment class, and had a great time! Don't waste money on the textbook by the way, everything you need is in the lectures! Sean if you're reading this, ily!! :
Sean is fantastic! Such a caring and inspirational man. He truly loves astronomy, which makes the class SO much better. You can tell how passionate he is about his field and how happy he is to teach. The material is not too difficult and he always wants to help if there is anything you do not understand. He really cares about his students!
Sean is an absolute Gem, the best professor I've had at SBCC. He cares so much about his students and their learning. I've known several people who changed their majors after having him, that's how inspirational he is! If you are looking for an interesting and fun class with an awesome professor, this is the one!
Dr Kelly is amazing. He loves his job and you can tell. He's always willing to help and loves to explain more if you don't understand. Probably the best teacher I've ever had. The "A" comes easy if you just focus and apply yourself.
I absolutely loved taking this class. Professor Kelly is very passionate about astronomy. If you do the work and show up to class you can get an A. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. His lectures cover pretty much everything that might be on the exams. He is a really great professor!
Truly passionate about what he teaches and is very fair with late homework.
great professor, he really cares about what he is teaching and makes class fun
Sean was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. I took his class in person and I would honestly take it again. He is so nice, and tries so hard to keep it interesting. He is so funny and tells so many jokes. He really wants his students to learn and is genuinely just an amazing guy. He is so passionate about what he does its inspiring
Sean cares so much about making his lectures fun and engaging, and you can tell. He's so passionate about Astronomy, which makes the class so much more enjoyable! Just make sure you can make it to every class, but besides that this is a fairly easy A. Plenty of extra credit, and just generally a really fun time!!
Don't buy the 100$ textbook, I never read it once and still got an A/ understood all the material. He lectures in class and has clickers for attendance/points. He's so into astronomy he makes it really interesting and fun. Lots of EC available. Quizlet is your best friend for this class, best way I studied for the exams. Take the lab that goes w/!
Sean Kelly is by far the best professor I've had. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed, he also gives lots of extra credit. Take notes on the lectures and put in the effort and you'll pass no problem. He's hilarious and makes a lot of jokes, he makes the 4 hours in lab fly by! TAKE HIS CLASS you won't regret it!!
Sean is the most amazing educator I have EVER had. He cares so greatly about not only the material, but the students understanding of it AND their enjoyment. His heart is so big and it definitely reflects in his classes and lectures. While this class was in a large lecture hall, he always kept my attention. I would take this class a million times!
Best professor I've ever had! He is so engaging and loves what he does. He cares so much about his students I was actually sad when his class was over. Take this class it is amazing and you will have fun taking it. I took it just because and ended up loving it so much.
Prof Kelly is so caring, high energy, and hilarious. He is passionate about astronomy which can be seen in his fun and engaging lectures. There is a lot of material to cover in this course so the tests can be tricky but he is a super understanding and gives lots opportunities for extra credit.
Sean is an amazing professor when it comes to teaching you through lectures about various terms and information regarding astronomy. He is also genuinely a great person as well outside of class and his love for astronomy and physics is contagious. At first, join the astronomy club for extra credit, then keep attending for Sean, he's that cool.
Astronomy 102 was such a fun class! Getting to use the planetarium and the telescopes is such a cool experience! Your attendance is the majority of the grade, so if you attend every lab you'll be able to get an A. Its rough sometimes having a three hour lab, but Sean makes all of his lectures super entertaining and worth attending!
I love having Sean Kelly as a Professor. I would 100% take his class again. He always put a smile on everyone's faces with his positive attitude. You can definitely tell he is passionate and loves his work and science.
one of the best prof at sbcc
Sean is great! so enthusiastic and by far my favorite professor I have ever had. One of the best and cant recommend this class more!
As long as you show up and used the study guide this class is awesome. Beware it is very easy to fall behind so if you're going to miss classes don't take this one. Dr.Kelly was great though, he always shows up ready to teach and brings good energy.
If Bill Nye the Science Guy was a Professor Sean would be it. Sean loves to share his knowledge about astronomy while also keeping class fun for all. Sean hyped up an exam for us, such a cool guy. This man can probably make rocket science seem like a fun subject to learn. I will 100% be taking more courses with him in the future.
I loved taking Sean's astronomy class. He clearly has a passion for topic and he goes on and on about cool space facts. His lectures can be a lil boring at times and he rushes through material so taking notes in his class can be a little difficult. He relies on the textbook to teach a lot of the material, and lectures tend to be supplemental.
Kelly is a good teacher but this class is definitely not as chill as he makes it up to be in the beginning of the semester. He claimed that there'd be no exams, hw, and just one-two quizzes which is not true, after week 4 there'll be quizzes and hw every week. Kelly is not the fastest at responding emails or uploading the grades on canvas.
You are lucky if you get Sean as your astronomy professor. He absolutely loves astronomy, and his passion is shown in his lectures and the lab. He is funny af, and no class is boring with him. He is not the best grader, and sometimes lectures can be a little confusing, but if you're willing to put up with a lil bad stuff he is more than worth it
Sean is a really great professor and even greater person. I must admit you will have to spend a bit of time studying for this class as the concepts can be hard to memorize with multiple question exams but he makes learning it fun. I also took 102 and would sort of recommend it, helps reinforce concepts for 101 but a lot of work for a 1 unit course.
The lab was super fun. Love Sean, he explains everything great, and I promise you won't look at the sky the same again after he shows you what you're looking at.
If you take Astronomy 101/102, you HAVE TO take it with Sean. He is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough with lectures and will crack jokes that are actually funny constantly. He tries very hard to get to know you and your needs on a personal level. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities, take advantage of that.
Sean is an amaxing professor, he has such an upbeat energy that makes you want to listen to what he is saying. He is very passionate about his sudents and the topic of astronomy, and offers a variety of before test study sessions, tutor hours and extra activites. This class however is extremely hard and the tests are a huge portion of your grade.
Sean is such a great teacher, he really cares about his students. He puts in a lot of time outside of his classes to his work as well, such as the astronomy club. He offers extra credit and always has tutoring available. Tests are long but they shouldn't be difficult if you take notes in the lectures and study outside of class.
Sean is one of my favorite people in the world. I took a lot of his classes and worked as his tutor, and he genuinely inspires me to be a better person. He not only wants you to succeed in this class, but he wants you to succeed in life. Don't take this class if you just need to fulfill a science requirement and think this will be an easy A though.
Probably one of the best teachers I've ever had, he was super funny, very very smart and you can tell he loves his job and school and just life in general type shi
Very fun and cares about the success of his students! There's a lot of material so be sure to go to his review sessions before exams. Plenty of extra credit opportunities to take advantage of.
One of the best professors I've had. Sean is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, often cracking funny jokes to keep the class entertained. The lectures are worth attending, and Unstuck study is a great study tool to supplement the course material.
Hello! I signed up for Rate my Professors just so I could say that Sean Kelly is THE BEST professor/teacher I've ever had. I love astronomy, but even students who weren't passionate like I was loved him and his teaching style. He is so excited and loving. You can tell that teaching is his calling. He is an angel who makes students love learning. ⭐️
Sean is really passionate about what he teaches which is nice, but that also means he expects everyone to be as passionate as him. The lab was off campus which I didn't know about before registering. I also completed everything in class, missed one assignment and it tanked my grade from a 97 to an 84. We also had a tests on stuff he didn't cover.
Had him for ERTH 106 and 104. Dr. Kelly is the life of the Planetary side of the Earth and Planetary Sciences at SBCC. His lectures are great and you can feel the passion and enthusiasm he has for his students. Dr. Kelly is one of the few at SBCC who make it a special place. Commit to your studies/passion and you can go far under his instruction!
He's a good teacher that wants his students to do well. Coming to class is a huge part of the grade. Pretty fun class, he makes the stuff easy to remember, didn't have to study all that much.
Sean is the best professor I've ever had! He's super super smart and knowledgable about the subject matter and it's obvious that he not only loves the content but also genuinely loves teaching and his students. I'm not a super science person but his enthusiasm is infectious and it makes the class really enjoyable. I can't recommend him enough!
Most condescending and rude person ever. Always make me feel stupid when I ask a question or when he looks at my assignments even if they are right. Makes fun of his students and always has something snarky to say to you.
Sean is so kind and very energetic! His lectures are fast paced but everything is online to look back on. He posts "most missed questions" before every test which is super helpful. I would recommend studying very well before the tests, they can be hard but there's only 3. HE IS THE BEST THO!! take him.
Such an involved, funny, and exciting professor, his personality makes the class extremely interesting and engaging. You need to attend class for participation credit + answer questions in class. There are four tests that come up fast, but there are great quizlets with the exact material. Lots of extra credit available!
