Reads off the board and dosnt teach. Better off taking someone else.
All he does is write everything from the book on the board. If you're good at calculus and you have a background, take him. He's a tough grader and gives no extra creditcurve. The only good thing about his class is that he gives a review before the test so you would know what questions to do from the book.
He writes everything on the board from the book and gives a bunch of extra homework on top of the online homework and you have a lot of quizzes, he's not very helpful if you go to his office for help.. The review is the textbook but if you just do similar problems to online homework you would be fine did not use textbook once
I dreaded going to his class. The lecture was straight out of the book so it felt pointless going. Also, he's constantly correcting himself and the material he's written on the board so he can be quite frustrating at times. I would definitely look for a different professor.
Don't ever ever ever take him I mean EVER! He's the worst teacher ever! WTH you're gonna give me homework that you've never taught I mean seriously. Almost 10 people've dropped the class. Seriously guys dont take him.

Lots of online and written homework. Lectures straight out of book, same examples. If Blinn didn't have an attendance policy I wouldn't show. I dropped it because I was overwhelmed and didn't get the concepts. Took another teacher and worked hard for an A. You can get an A if you study yourself. Test problems some out of book.
He is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. He is awkward and doesn't know how to get to the point. He hardly ever faces the class, he just talks to the board. Wouldn't recommend anyone to him.
Had to drop this class before I received an F. Grades every little detail and if you miss just one class you will probably not pass. He never faces the class, just stares at the and for 2 hours straight just rambles on. Its very easy to get lost in his lectures. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
If you are a math nut he's ok, if not don't take him. %50+ dropped and a handful are failing. Lots of homework. Longest tests I have ever taken (no calculators, is that standard?) Quizzes are sometimes tricky. I expected an A on day one but I'll be taking a B and I'm pretty decent at math. Hours upon hours of Kahn Academy got me through. Good luck.
get another teacher. you wont pass, use one of your 6 drops and drop this class. super hard class!
he is a nice man, even when most of his class were texting or on their face books or whatever. Thank to these people, he just try to make his test as easy as it can be, I made 99.5% from his class, thank you professor MacDonald and your classes, if they would ever rise their head from their cellphones to the board, they would find how easy it is.
Takes points off for everything. But really helpful. reminds me of the scientist from back to the future movie. Bunch of people dropped because they were not paying attention, not going to class etc. Lectures can be boring tough it out. Math is difficult for me and I pulled a B.

His lectures are extremely fast paced, i had a hard time keeping up with them. His test are not the tough but his grading is. I only learned from the homework. I would not recommend him unless you have already taken Ap calc in high school.
I showed up everyday, did all the homework, did relatively well on all the tests to ensure an A and ended up with an 88 because of his pop quizzes. He spends all class writing out lengthy word problems which made us fall behind in the syllabus schedule and made it very easy to lose interest. Don't take him.

Not a super exciting guy but if if the work is done you will get an A, gives pop quizzes one or two classes before each exam but they are very simple. Finish the online homework and study it for tests to be most prepared
His test are usually easy however I feel like he began getting irritated with our class towards the end of the semester and the last two test and final reflected that. I was able to pass all of his exams above average but bombed his final. Although it is departmental I feel as though he purposely picked the hardest questions out of the test bank.
If you're in his class, it is likely you're only option to stay because all Blinn profs suck. Push through it. Sit in front and practice all the questions. His reviews are just telling you to practice questions in the textbook. I went from a low B to a high D because of the final (14 questions MC) He's tough. Had him for both Calc II and III
Not sure why he has a bad rating. He talks a bit fast sometimes but if you get used to the lectures, understand what the important stuff is, and be selective about not taking it is fine. His lectures can be a bit boring. He gives simple straightforward questions on tests. Avg amount of HW. Study your notes 10 min b4 class in case of pop quizzes.
Talks really fast and covers an absolute ton of material every class. He asks if there are any questions after completing a problem but whenever someone actually asked something he seemed very annoyed. Gives pop quizzes and is very picky when it comes to grading.
He's a very strange guy, but he seriously knows his stuff. He's a great teacher but he expects you to keep up with what he's talking about in class! His quizzes are random and he doesn't give any extra credit. Doing the homework will help ypu a lot!!

The WORST math teacher I have ever had. Lectures put you to sleep and he is not helpful in office hours. Do NOT take if you can avoid it.

Lectures were just him talking for 2 hours without asking if there were any questions. Very condescending whenever someone needed help with something they did not understand. Very dull and very boring. Avoid
He was very difficult to pay attention to. I learned very little from his lectures. He taught very quickly and if you lost track it was difficult to understand the rest of his lecture. On top of that his class was two hours long and he lectured for exactly two hours, without stopping. I essentially had to teach myself everything from the book.
Lectures non-stop,@ the speed of lightning for the entire 2 hours of class. Doesn't ask the class clarifying questions, never asks for participation, and never interacts w/the class. He obviously doesn't care if his students learn. He is so boring. I self taught thru HW. Exams were difficult bc they are free response, but the final was MC and easy.
Prof is super strange guy and lectures at light speed so nobody pays attention. However, the content is really simple if you have previous calculus experience. Definitely dont recommend this prof but if you have to take him, just do the HW because its usually simple and helps teach the content better than the prof. Also watch for pop quizzes.
If you have not already taken a calculus class prior to college, you will struggle to learn. He is terrible at explaining and answering questions. Writes notes very fast but does not actually teach the material. I had a great teacher in high school that prepared me for this class, but without that I would have struggled. Grades very hard as well.
Horrible teacher by far the worst I've ever had. Everything is way to fast you have to teach yourself everything throughout the year. Very very tough grader. When you ask questions he doesn't answer them and makes you feel dumb when you ask them. DONT TAKE THIS GUY
By far the worst professor I have ever had at Blinn in my 2 years here. He has a tendency of teaching the white board more than the actual class. Everything I have learned in this class is due to online hw. Also on tests, if you have 1 parenthesis out of place, its wrong. No extra credit, no leniency on grades or due dates. Do NOT take this class.
He's not the worst professor at Blinn, but he can improve. He's extremely tough on grading, tends to talk fast, gives LOTS of homework, and doesn't give solutions to quizzes and tests, so you're on own to figure out how to properly solve problems. Sometimes he writes comments on the graded paper, but they're not really useful. No curves.
If you don't have prior knowledge on Cal 2, then you might want to avoid this prof. He speeds through about 3-4 topics in one lecture, so I can understand why people have given him bad reviews. But, if you have prior knowledge on Cal 2, you'll do well. I was on my phone for most of the time, payed attention every now and then, and got an A easily.
The instructor was not helpful when asked questions by students and often made them feel dumb for asking them in the first place. The instructor will throw tantrums if he does not get his way and does not respect the class. The tests are often very rigorous and toughly graded, unlike the pop quizzes giving a false sense of progress.
MacDonald talks fast and grades hard, however he grades hard because there's nothing on homework or exams that you haven't seen before. Some exam questions were even homework or practice questions. If you do your homework, you'll do just fine. He was very helpful during office hours and made sure my questions were answered. Read notes & practice.
Compacts a lot of information into lectures, but if you pay attention and take solid notes, you should be fine. Textbook is used for practice problems if you need them, online and written hw are assigned almost every class, and the exams reflect those pretty well. It's easy to get lost with all the information, but if you try hard you can do well.
By far the worst teacher I've had at Blinn. Currently in his class and it is almost impossible to understand anything he's "teaching". Like many other people have said it is non stop lecture with absolutely no questions allowed to be asked. Missed 1 question on a test and got a 74 because of points he took of for parenthesis, etc. DO NOT TAKE HIM
DO NOT TAKE!! In the nicest way possible this man if an awful professor. He talks so fast you can't understand him and don't even think about asking questions. If anyone asked a question he would go on a rant about how you're throwing him off schedule and your question will not be answered. Find a smart friend if you have any He's no help
You'll get use to the back of this guys head that's for sure. I would describe it as he teaches the white board and not his students. If math is not your strong suit find another professor. He knows what he is talking about but he teaches you the absolute hardest way to do it. Get out while you can.
Is obviously knowledgeable about the concepts he discusses, but always explains VERY fast. I always take as many notes as I can, but I sometimes end up focusing on taking all the notes instead of listening to the explanations he gives.
He talks EXTREMELY fast and his notes are not that helpful. His tests are moderately difficult, but the probability test was impossible. He is not very helpful and kind of just expects you to know everything before he teaches it. If you can get another prof, I would.
Absolutely the worst math professor I've ever had, he talks VERY fast and is terrible at answering questions if you don't understand the material he's attempting to teach. Also gives random pop quizzes about the things he's been teaching that exact same class period. Avoid this prof at all costs

I was always more focused on writing everything down at lightning speed rather that the actual info itself, but if you've taken college algebra before the info is a piece of cake. 4 tests, no extra credit, online and written homework, and a LOT of pop quizzes!!
This is the worst professor I have ever came across in all my years of being a student. He is ridiculously hard grading, doesnt answer questions in class, and displays information in such a ridiculous way, nobody does well in these classes for a reason. DO NOT TAKE HIMMMM
Pleas do not take this Professor. He gives a bunch of problems for practice from textbook and we dont even get the time to ask him in person. I asked him once and emailed me back giving a long explanation which made no sense at all. He is very knowledgeable but not very good at explanation though. No extra credit, and he gives a bunch of notes. But all the problems provided by him are example problem from textbook which of course have solutions in the textbook. He is knowledgeable but ne beware!!
Please do not take him. He talks like a auctioneer. He got angry when we asked questions, and he made everything more different than it needed to be. Hes very rude and 1/2 of my class ended up dropping because of him. Tests were also VERY hard. If you want to pass a math class, hes not the prof to do it with.
very nice man! definitely alot of notes, and very fast-paced but overall he made it seem very easy. i would have aced the course if we hadn't switched to online. i cannot learn online. other than that, great professor if you have knowledge of calculus and basic algebra.
You do NOT want to take this prof. He is absolutely TERRIBLE. Cuts no slack, gets very mad when you ask questions, talks at the speed of lightening. If you want to succeed, I promise you do not want to take him he is very rude.
Its cal 3 and definitely not easy, you need to put lot of effort. But, it is also almost impossible to make an A without your profs help. I had to take this class in 8 weeks and made it 10x worse. He speeds through the sections, goes over problems that we arent gonna have on the test. He is a very hard grader, mostly why I am failing right now. I went in for office hours to ask for help and all he could tell me was to work more problems out. Dont expect any extra credit.

This prof should be your last resort for this class. DO NOT TAKE WITH HIM. He hates it when you ask questions. If you ask for help he just gets upset. He grades so hard, you learn the material so fast and he won't slow down for anyone. good luck passing, I barley did. Take math with anyone but him.
This is the WORSE professor! He yells at you if you ask questions, he writes so fast and doesn't explain anything. You will go through about 5 lessons everyday in an 8 week course, and expect a "pop" quiz everyday. If you miss a quiz with an excused absence he still won't let you make it up and will give you a zero. I had 7 kids left in my class.

Smart guy. Horrible teacher. He teaches super fast and its impossible to write everything down and understand it at the same time. Pop quizzes every class, and if you don't understand it, you are bombing that quiz. Tons of homework and tests. He puts every hard question off of Pearson onto the test. If you want a bad grade in math, take him.
If u want to waste money then take his class, but I would advise to never take this teacher!!
The exams are way harder than what he shows in lectures. He will go over 1-2 problems on a topic in class and move on to the next. Then the next class he will make you take a quiz over those things. He does explain what you should've done on homework, quizzes, and exams. You should stay away from his class if you can.
He went so fast that you couldn't keep up. All his notes are done on a white board. A ton of homework, a ton of quizzes. I dropped the same day I took my first exam. We started with maybe 10 kids in the class and by the time I left there were only 3. Do not take this professor no matter what. If it means taking it a different semester, then do it.
He has smaller classes that a lot of people drop but for someone who learns better 1 on 1 he is a great professor! There is a lot of homework but it is manageable. As long and you go to class and pay attention it's fairly easy. He does partial credit on everything. He will also let you make up homework assignments you missed with no penalty.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He talks like he is auctioning off things and when you stop him he gets mad at you and tells you to wait for the end of the class. Has a lot of homework and on grading he will give you a lot of points off for one tiny mistake like not showing a step to get to the final answer. If you do not have to take him DON'T.
He's so passive aggressive for no reason it's crazy. He took over my diff equ class in the middle of the semester and just made the class harder without changing anything else.

This is by far the worst professor I have had and I think I will ever have in my life. The way he taught math was very inefficient and was not very kind when you had a question. He also gives pop quizzes and marks off for the most random math.
Took a 3 hour class twice a week and it was absolutely awful. He goes extremely quickly and works out super complex problems that do not prepare you for tests or homework at all. He will assign paper homework as well as online homework that is all due before the next class. Also gives pop quizzes every other class. Do not take this teacher.
Going to office hours and using Pearson's study plan is a MUST. I barely survived this professor. The quizzes and exams had me questioning my math abilities. He's a tough grader. He talks very fast during lectures. Most of the tests are not multiple choice. You must know what you're doing. The final exam was multiple choice, but it was difficult.
He has no idea how to actually teach, one of the smartest mathematicians I've ever witnessed but can't convey knowledge to a classroom for the life of him. He has no means of relating to students and doesn't care for your grades or well being at all.
No structure to the class. Very hard to follow along as he speeds through all the material just to have enough time for a quiz each class.

He rushes through his lessons so he can give you a quiz at the end of EVERY class. Assigns paper homework and online homework after every class. BUT he is a quick grader and gets your grades back to you fast.
If you struggle with Math in general, this professor is NOT for you. By far, Dr. MacDonald is the toughest mathematics instructor at Blinn College. However, he presents a fair amount of notes with good material. Just make sure you keep up. ***He may be on the spectrum, so don't take it personal if his grading notes seem passive-aggressive.***

i thought i could get through the semester because i can teach myself fairly well, but i dreaded this class like no other. he yells if people start talking. im genuinely scared to talk to him in person 1 on 1. paper homework and pop quizzes basically every class. would never take again ever not even because the class is hard i just am scared of him
Get ready to teach yourself how to do math. Rambles a lot and does not really make sense when teaching. Get ready to do 3 hours of notes. This is not a class to take if you do not want to go to class and actually pay attention. Was a very difficult class with this professor and made me want to go on antidepressants. :)
Lectures are fast and the class was long, but as an 8-week course that wasn't unexpected. Most classes ended with a pop-quiz over material from the previous lecture. Time management was a big issue. We would have some classes where we would have all weekend to do 2 HW assignments, and other times when we had 1 day to do 4 or 6 & prepare for a test.
I have nothing good to say about this prof, absolutely DO NOT take him. He wrote sarcastic, discouraging notes on my tests/quizzes. Each online hw took at least 2 hours to complete. No calc.'s allowed for last 2 tests. Everyone failed 3rd test and no curve was received. Teacher takes joy in making students miserable. Not sure how he is still around

Even if you have already taken Calculus you will struggle. He grades hard and writes sarcastic/rude comments all over the page. I got points taken off for writing extra notes for myself- he scratched out and said "you don't need this" or "why did you do this." He enjoys giving out undeserved bad grades and has no relationship with his students.

I took this professor online for Cal 3, he is probably the most disrespectful professor I have ever had and I am a senior now. His comments on my exams were very rude and passive aggressive. I tried my best and you don't have to be disrespectful about me getting a question wrong. Also, far too much work (online hw, written hw, weekly exams, etc)
This teacher moves very fast through class and does not seem to have much patience for the students he teaches. He becomes very aggravated at students asking clarifications or for him to slow down or go back over something, even when it is almost the entire class who are making these requests.
I took him for MATH 1324 and 1325. My grade for 1324 was honestly a reflection from not attending class... his lectures were fast and he wouldn't allow for makeup quizzes so going to class was important. He usually gave short quizzes at the end of class over the previous lectures. Most of the quizzes are written responses and homework was online.
You might as well just drop out of college. This guy is horrible and slowly will ruin your life. It has been 10 years since this guy has taken a shower or brushed his teeth. This professor has caused me to start taking hardcore drugs including heroin, methamphetamine, and cracked cocaine. Would not recommend
No extra credit or curving. He is just a horrible professor who is there just to write on the board and leave. Lots of homework. More than half of the classes, he will give you a pop quiz. Half of the class has dropped it because he is just horrible. since he has been teaching this for like 30 years, he expects you to be on his level of knowledge.

Cannot teach well, he is very fast paced and he expects you to be on his level of knowledge. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I cannot say a single good thing about him. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will fail if you miss class.
He wasn't that bad. Yes pop quizzes almost every class, but he is great at giving partial credit on tests. He is fast paced and will look at you like you're stupid when you say you are confused. He does have his moments and might yell at you but all in all if you write down everything he writes down you should be able to keep up.

I just finished his 8-week online class and let me tell you it's a lot of homework so beware. His lectures are horrible, he's horrible. I somehow manage to barely get a B in this class and math is my best subject. I did pretty good in everything except the final it's awful. If you can get anyone else for this class take them. Avoid this professor.

If you can, choose another prof. If you can't, I'm sorry. When students ask questions in class he always makes them seem stupid and almost every class he has an attitude. He's good in that he's knowledgeable on the topics he teaches, but they way he talks to students and behaves during class is very unprofessional.
He was not good at spacing things out, often rambled and made a ton of mistakes during important lecture topics. He's practically unapproachable for the most part, it seems like he prefers to just give lectures in a time crunch and leave without being asked questions. Do not recommend him if you're looking for a good calc 2 learning experience
This is by far and I mean by far one of the worst professors of all time and his 63 negative 1 star reviews are there for proof. Starting off hes extremely rude and takes your questions offensively, he does not care if you fail and doesn't have a problem failing half if not more of the class. Blinn obviously wasn't paying attention when they hired.
Good explainations of things, a bit heavy on the proofs and lemmas at times, which I enjoy seeing how things come from other things, but not if I can't keep the big picture in my head at the same time. Quizzes were concise and well worded
He will give a pop quiz every other class miss any part, you will likely get a 50. Loves math more than social interaction, storms in and storms out. If you miss class, 0 on a quiz. Lectures the entire class, very heavy homework. Grading is very difficult and overcomplicates what could be an easy class. If you can avoid it, DO NOT TAKE.
It is not hard to pass this class imo, I went to every lecture and wrote down nearly everything he said, so I'll say his lectures are good. However, as a person, he was a nightmare. Harsh grader, rushing lectures to give pop quizzes, and not interactive at all. Nice policies on dropping grades and replacing your lowest exam with an easy final.
This professor is the worst I've had by far. He rushes lectures in which he goes into too much detail over the proofs of what he's teaching rather than how to solve actual equations. He also assigns a lot of homework that is no where near the question level of the exams which are 50% of the total grade. He also gives pop quizzes every other class.

This man is evil. He basically just writes down exactly what it says in the book. If you try an ask a question, he acts like you are stupid. He is a hard grader. All of his exams are partial credit, and he will take off points if you don't answer in the exactly the way he wants you to. I have gotten the right answer and still had points taken off.
This guy is very off putting to say the least. Not helpful with homework and lectures are just him blabbering on and on. You CAN get through it with self study and following his steps, but overall a horrible experience.
