very boring prof, tough course
tough course, prof better than others
good thing he's tall, his writing don't slant at the end of the line
Incredibly helpful. Makes third year math as good as it can get.
he was the TA and was exceptionally helpful!! Better than Stanczak!
He's perfect.
i think he's cool
Uppal is a good lecturer: clear and consise notes. But, works 100% from textbook
Very good prof
he's cute, but not inviting for questions
clear and very good explanations
ALL HAIL MATH GIANT! ALL HAIL MATH GIANT!
Really big guy, good at teaching, but almost makes it look too easy...
LOVE him!!! Clear, concise, HOT; attended his class even after I dropped it.
He's HOT; i even wrote that on the *course evaluation sheet*. Tough course tho.
killer course
Tall and hot
always shrugs and asks: "this is easy, right?"
Good Prof!
notes dont help w/ assignments, very hard class, work you ass off for a C/C-
Good looking and sexy, PLUS he teaches so well!
Very nice explanation
Girlz think he's hot, but I like him, because he teaches well =)
He's hot!
Wow! he's totally smokin'! the lectures moves at a fairly quick pace though.
right? ....(may be)
Sexy? I don't know about that!!! But his teaching is the best!!
helpful? i think not.. half the time doesn't explain details clearly
sometimes it's hard to concentrate at the lectures, b he's so damn sexy!!!
Nice prof~
not sure whether can use word perfect
extremely cute... ^^
he's hot, AND he's got a sexy voice as well...
Best calculus prof I know, doesn't use book or notes, prove every theorem by head
Teaches a very difficult course very well. Is very easy on the eyes and has a niiiice voice too. This class, though, is my most difficult, time consuming course.
Really hot!!! Girls beware! Sometimes you just find yourself staring :D Should have been a model, not a math prof anyway. In addition to his looks, he's a really good teacher. I think I'm in love! :D
WOW! Excellent prof!!!!!!!!
hot cute nice, teaches good and explains very clearly. answer questions very well. cannot get myself to skip the lectures cuz then i'll miss another chance to c him. ^.~
Handsome, sexy, like a model. Very organized, best teacher I have ever seen.
He's too hot to be a Math prof !!! A dream to all girls---handsome and smart!!!
He's very organized and clear with his explanations. Plus he's easy on the eyes:)

SUCH A GOOD PROF! And, who can resist a good-looking, nice, smart guy?
Very good at explaining hard concepts clearly. Good lecture notes. I'll agree that he has a pleasant voice...but is he really THAT good looking!?! =P
I have to admit, he is hot. Probably the hottest prof at UofT. However, lets not forget that he's an amazing prof. He knows his stuff and makes a difficult course enjoyable. If you have to take MAT137 -take it with him!
good looking guy, very organized lecture notes. i enjoyed his lecture so much.
he is so attractive, but more important thing is he is smart
SUCH A GREAT PROF!!! HOT & SMART!!! explains course concepts very clearly with well organized notes. I never missed any of his class :P. Take his class if you have to take mat137!
Very smart guy, intimidating though. Very organized and pretty good looking for a professor.
Ladies, I hope you didn't write any of that nonsense about his looks in his course eval. His boss will think you only like him because of his looks! Truthfully though he's Intelligent, approachable, helpful and clear - enough said!
Great prof. Did a great job of seperating the interesting from the pedantic. If you are interested in learning the material I highly recommend finding a way to get into one of his classes.
Very organized and clear. Knows the material well. A bit intimidating and I think he is sick of calculus.
Not bad for 1st time teaching mat244, midterm is harder than mat267, weekly problem set consumes too much time, over all, he is good, lecture is very clear, and test/exam are fair.
i'll admit i have a crush on him cuz he's perfect: gorgeous, tall, lean, eloquent, GREAT voice, smart, ...the list goes on. try to take his class. he's a great prof.
I personally found him very intimidating. I wouldn't ask him questions after class cuz he scares the bejeezus out of me. Anyway, that said, he lectures quite well. Makes the very difficult concepts understandable. One of the few profs who I'd give an A+ for organization and clarity.

"so let's go ahead and prove this thing" typical sean uppal statement, lol. he's a very good prof, very organized and really knows his materials, but maybe a bit too difficult to approach for help (once you do it, he's really nice though). and as all the girls said, he is pretty hot so... ;)
im gonna vote he's hot bc all the girls seem to thnk so... i think he sseems like hes a downtoearth prof, looks young, smart.. and always looks like he's ognna go clubbin.... madd respect to that guy, one of the best profs ive ever had.. ut should relaly invest more time finding profs like him.....
VERY HELPFUL,VERY GOOD
Sean Uppal is an excellent instructor. He is the best for this course. Very organized, makes math exciting and interesting. If you have to take this course, try to take it with Sean Uppal.
The guy is tough, but at least he does a good job explaining stuff, makes sure everyone understands. I do have an issue with the occasional long, awkaward pause, waiting for someone to answer.
Excellent Prof - best Math mark I have ever gotten and proud of it! I've never understood material like i did in this class - he knows how to explain - he knows how to keep your interest - and overall he is the best prof I have had at UofT. I wish every prof was like him!
the ultimate xample of tall dark n handsome altho dresses poorly. not only he's hot, he's also an xcellent prof. very organized, helpful n makes u understand the material like high school teacher. p.s. has amazing green/brown eyes...*sigh*.
Watching this man do math on the blackboard is like, well... it's just plain hot. I learned so much in this course and it's the reason I'm now doing math. But I couldn't have done it without Sean. Awesome lecturer, nice guy, and overall, the best professor I have ever had.
he is hot&nice but the exams are insane. 500 people class's avg is 40% from the mid.half of the class had already dropped..there is no way passing his exams.
not requiredd at all!!!!!
excellent teacher. one of the best math teachers I've had: he has a good balance between proving theorems and showing how to do computational problems. very easy to approach about problems and a good guy overall
too hard, yeap, 70% of his class failed. So do you want to challenge yourself by being his student?
Yes half the class has dropped the course but the man does not deserve 100% of the blame! The questions in the 1st quiz were straight out of the homework as promised. result: average 55%. The mid term was bad but looking at the test I don't think anyone can have much to complain about. Anyone who has a grip on the homework will be fine.

Amazing "Prof" even though he has only his M.Sc. But teaches very well, very nice in his Office Hours, but for some reason the class avg by the end and mid-terms tend to be in 40% area! Stick to the course, follow his notes, screw Spivak, then you will do fine. Good prof, beats the rest of the math pack at UofT.
Sure everyone says this prof is hard, but as long as you DO the suggested problems, you will be fine for the course. The questions on quizzes come directly from the suggested problems. He's a good prof, learned a lot from this guy, and he teaches at a good pace.
very hard prof, i don't like him at all. eventhough he teaches well, he has attitude problem. and he gives very hard tests and quizes.
Enjoyed taking Uppal's class!;overall, works at a nice pace and is very clear in explanations. His method of lecturing is one which some profs(if not all)should emulate. Excellent transition from theorem/proof/examples.Well structured teaching, however seems distraught at times...(What's wrong Sean?)GREAT instructor, why did you stop at your MSc.?!?!
Uppal is a very good instructor. He explains well, he instills intuitive understanding of the material. It is fun to attend his lectures.
he teaches EXTREMELY well! his lectures are extremely organized~ well, his tests are challenging, so i guess if i'm just a guest at his lectures, i'd enjoy the course very much :) overall, he's an awesome math professor!
I took Uppal's 1st year seminar course, not one of his lectures. His teaching was helpful, but he followed the textbook too closely. He wrote every word he said on the board, which was great for note-taking. The course (game theory and politics) was interesting, but the best part was the last month, when everybody did an oral presentation.
GREAT!!! Keep up the good work Uppal
serious, this guys suck. yes, he has the charisma, but what the heck, this is not a mating service, this is a university course, now at least make it seem like one..... Test=gay, quiz=retarded, avoid this course at all course, for girls, find your fantasy somewhere else, for guys, you ain't missing much for not taking it.

Sean Uppal is probably the best prof in all math course. clear explaination always. the sucking guy↓↓who left him a bad comment is just jealous of him
i like his lecture.
He is by far the best Math professor I've ever had at U of T. The lecture notes are detailed and organized and he is very clear in his explanations. He teaches at a good pace and ensures that students can grasp the material. The quizzes and the midterm are fair (so is the grading). Yes, he used to be tough and has an attitude problem, but from my experience I can guarantee that he has changed for the better. It's a shame that I might not have him as my prof for other math courses again. P.S. I found the exam easy but for some reason it lowered everyone's mark significantly (what happened??).
Sean Uppal is great at explaining the theorems and concepts, however, he does not have enough examples. He goes into too much depth about the theorems but never applies them to actual problems. When I took MAT135 I never had to read my text book. I could go straight to the problems and do them, but now I heavily rely on reading the text.
Worst lecturer I ever had. His quizzes and tests are weird. I'm quoting someone on this: "He goes through hoops and obstacle courses to come up with a really tough question that will test you on nothing course related."
I just love it when he snickers at you when you ask a dumb question... Seriously though, he's a good prof - organized, fair, thorough and (mostly) understandable. His tests are tough, but hey, you're not in high school anymore.
He hates cellphone ringing during the lecture. He noticed that he will leave when the cell rings again and he really left once.
very hot
Love the way he explains the topic. So much passion =)And he has the most amazing smile =)
very good lecture notes
he is finest prof i ve ever seen. Also he is so cool
This guy knows his stuff better than you know how many fingers you have.
absolutely amazing. super genius . and if he worked out, he couldve been a Spartan!
What people are saying is absolutely correct. This guy is quite possibly the most talented instructor I have ever encountered. My one problem with him was that he is a bit of a jerk when you consult him privately. He can be very condescending and obnoxious. So i recommend never asking him to regrade a test. But yeah, amazing lectures.
I hate calculus, but I love this guy. He is a great prof. Compared to the questions I got in highschool his are nothing - very fair. He's got a good style of teaching, but often goes fairly fast: we finished a week early both terms. His examples are often not that great, and he doesn't attempt to teach tricks. His theory is solid as stone though.
Sean Uppal is good if you want this from your lecturer: details about theories, proofs, fast. Sean Uppal is bad if you want: computation, easy, textbook. IMO, a lecturer should offer something you can't get anywhere else. You get computation from tutorials, easy from quizzes and textbook at home. Take Uppal if you work hard.
2nd best math prof next to Joel Chan. One of his downfalls is that he has NO IDEA what's going on with the course (quote "Oh you guys had a test?") and therefore never gives useful examples. Go to his lectures and Joel Chan's tutorials. As for his looks, he's like 6'6, skinny and has a deep voice. He wears non-straight clothing.
Great prof, serious about his job.He takes all my stress away as he makes everything look so easy.he made me really love math!I think he is full of himself & thats why hes unapproachable and ignores people(not good for a prof).why do you care about his appearance?Hes there to teach you,so stop gossiping bout him,its not your business.
He is a great lecturer, the best of the mat137 profs. He speaks and writes clearly and encourages questions from students. Unfortunately if you ask him a question about something he thinks you should know from highschool or learned even from a month earlier he will look at you like you are dumb and say you should know it.
really smart, good teacher, great notes, hard tests!
He is too hot. The sexiest prof I have ever had. N I'm having good grade with him 2!!lol I will take LA 2 very soon i guess!!!
very good prof. explains things so clearly that difficult stuff appears easy. I love his lectures and would love to take any course given by him:)
Absolutely excellent. Actually takes the time to develop the general structure of what's being taught and why it is important. Rigorous yet knows exactly what computation to emphasize. Hard to imagine a better math prof.
Today was the last day of MAT 224 and I was so sad inside that I will probably never see him again in lectures. Great lecturer. Very glad that I had him for Mat 223 and 224. On top of that, he's got an awesome voice with an awesome fashion sense!!!
Great Professor, good teaching, love his class
enthusiastic prof, explains things well
smart, likes teaching, likes the subject, knows by hart, invites questions, hot, great
Excellent prof. Really knows what he's talking about, encourages questions during lectures, easy to listen and pay attention to. Overall, really enjoyed his class :)
He explains theorems and proofs well, but his examples are limited in a way that it really doesn't help you on the exams. For an engineering students who are learning how to 'use' math, I wonder why this course's exams contain so many 'thought-provoking' questions that are so hard. Textbook questions only blind you to believe that you are ready.
I have attended lectures by all MAT137 professors this year, and Sean takes the cake for being crystal clear, passionate about teaching, and really packing a lot of useful information into his 3x1hr lectures. Also, and completely unrelated to my glowing review: Sean is one heck of a gorgeous man. If even that doesn't keep you awake, drop 137.
nice prof, theorems and examples explained clearly
uppal is the reason i went into math! he's great!
He's the reason I enrolled in math as a commerce student!
I guess he's a good lecturer with good explanations. Examples aren't hard enough though. Hot!?!? i think he looks like jesus with short hair lol.
great prof. the math department has amazing profs
He's a great prof. But he doesn't give sufficien examples in class. The textbook was awful and the course material was extremely tough. Average for 33% for the 1st midterm and 75% of the class failed.
Terrific prof. He actually wants you to understand the material - he cares. I started this term with an absolute hatred for linear algebra (required course) but it ended up my favorite class - unabated interest throughout. Also, Sean is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Just a comment about the rating system here, in case anyone gets confused like I did. Where it says 'interest', that actually refers to interest in the material _before_ taking the course, not after.
Excellent prof. I had him for MAT223, and made sure to enrol in his lecture section for MAT224, too. Crystal clear, always encourages and answers questions. Like someone below said, 74% of the class failed the first midterm, but he made sure to help us raise our marks by offering a different grading scheme and making the other exams easier.
He knows his stuff very well and his notes are very well-organized. I'll certainly go for his courses. Remember to switch your cell phones to silent mode as he actually forced a student to leave because of that. Other than that, he is a good teacher. One of the best in U of T!
Well.. Best lecturer for mat137 but not mat223 and 224..
Lectures have a good balance of theory and examples. Very clear explanations. Makes sure to emphasize subtle points. Excellent overall.
His lecture is very organized and clear. Overall, he's a good lecturer. But, he has some attitude problem.
Better prof that others teaching the same course. People find him amazing, but I think he's just normal. Good prof, but the MIT open courseware prof, Gilbert Strang, is better. I skipped the last half of the course, watched MIT for a few days and did pretty well.
The person below is right. You're not going to think he's amazing just by going to class. But if you put real effort into learning the material, ask questions and actually treat him like a human being rather then spend the entire semester talking about how hot he is or some other irrelevant nonsense, you'll appreciate just how good of a prof he is
Very good lecturer with very clear notes. Clear enough that if you are paying attention in his lectures you don't need to take notes, but his notes are very well-written that you might like to anyway. For the most part don't need the textbook when you have his lectures. He makes the material seem easy and is helpful when students ask questions.
He's the coolest MAT prof I had. nuff said
If you are in his class, please please turn off your cell phone... If you don't, well you are in BIG trouble young fella...
This prof is basically Dr. House, but a math teacher. Kind of harsh but super hot. He's a good instructor though, and if you pay attention and do your homework you should do well. Seriously, do your homework or first year calc will wreck you unless you're a genius or something.
His handwriting is the worst one I have ever seen. His marking scheme is not fair, he does not check if the exams are marked fairly as a course coordinator. He does not care about students and overall I hate him
One of the best profs in U of T. He is very helpful if you go to his office hours.
He may look a little distant, but I find him so cool and cute. Definitely the hottest prof i've ever met, plus he teaches so well, if you review the notes for the exam, you don't need the textbook at all.
If you stick with his notes, quizzes and problem sets, getting 100% is not a problem. There is no necessity to buy the text book indeed....I will take his MAT224 later this year!
More a problem with 224 than with him. We weren't given good textbooks, during his office hours, the same one guy kept hogging them completely, and the final exam was worth 50% of the course. Plus, things weren't explained particularly well (and the textbook finally made it impossible to catch up if you missed even one class)
Sean Uppal explains way too many theorems and proofs in class and doesn't focus on examples. Don't go to class, read the textbook. His midterm tests/exams are hard and more than 1/2 the class dropped the course.
His lectures are not focused on examples.
I totally recommend him. He's an amazing professor. i missed my first term term test for a clumsy ass reason and he reweighed my final without proof of why i couldnt attend.
Great guy. Really helpful and really knows what he is talking about. You cant go wrong if you go to lectures, pay attention and take notes.
One of the greatest profs I have encountered in my university experience. His lectures are crystal clear and concise. As long as you pay attention in class, do your homework, easy marks. Great guy, approachable, passionate about the course, completely knows what he's doing. On top of that, he's easy on the eyes.
His exams seems to get harder each year and as semester progresses as he creates more new difficult questions. Class avg for final was 58% last year. Beware he seems nice on the outside, but he is actually the reverse.
I don't understand how ppl think of his tests as hard. If u attend lectures, take notes and review them, try to do most of the hw problems on ur own, passing the class is a breeze, and receiving an A+ is absolutely possible. He may not be so nice outside of class, but who cares, he still answers ur questions, though maybe in a rather rude tone.
He is very mean when it comes to his midterms since he enjoys weeding people on those stuff. His lectures was pretty much useless and obviously tries hard to confuse everyone and avg for course was C-.
The course itself is pretty easy but when he teaches during lecture, I always didn't understood a thing. I manage to pass the course by studying mostly through the textbook and online videos. But he gives good notes, so after you study from the textbook, then go through the notes and you'll understand it.
Amazing prof! Crystal clear in explanation, passionate about the course material, and gives quite fair (i.e, surprise-less) tests. Interesting guy, too; not your typical math prof.
ATTEND LECTURES! This professor makes everything so crystal clear and obvious that he could probably train goldfish to do linear algebra. The class average was a C though I don't know why considering there was nothing at all surprising on the exam, and even the proof question (which is occasionally hard and surprising) wasn't even hard.
He teaches very fast and it is very diffciult to understand everything on the spot. His tests was diffuclt but the final exam was worse. Class avg dropped significantly after the final.
Skipped the calc section I was registered in to attend his section instead, and benefited immensely. Lectures are better than the book (which is already very good). I wish he would be less annoyed by inattentive students though. As long as they are not distracting others, just leave the sleepers and texters alone!
Anyone who has issues with clarity from Uppal either never did any work, or had so little interest their brain shut off three hours a week. There were no surprises in this course. Uppal was so clear in lecture, every exam question was as fair as could be. Yes, he has an attitude but he works it.
One of the best math profs I've had!! Really enjoyed his classes, lectures were clear and was helpful in office hours. He even allowed us to re-do any test question of our choice when he felt like he was a bit unfair on a test. . Made linear algebra class enjoyable :)
Best math prof I've had!! Lectures were clear, classes weren't boring, and office hours were helpful. He even allowed the whole class to re-do any test question of our choice when he felt like he might have been unfair on a question. He definitely made classes very enjoyable.
crystal clear
Awesome prof
A great prof. Brilliant lecturer, spends the right amount of time on each individual topic.
He made the textbook changed this year but the new one does not help compared to the old one. A lot of student struggled with his handwriting and he does not allow taking pictures in his lecture even though some students sit far away behind. The Midterm II test is hard with 48% average but he claimed it was fair. After all, worst experience.
The second test is 48% average, but he refused to curve up.
Unwilling to help and not clear in lectures. Well, some stuff he explains in easy examples, but those lead you to nowhere. Even on quizzes, saying nothing about tests. Only people who share same attitude to others might like him. Bad textbook, worse course structure, even instructors in other sections admit this.
Gave me worst semester ever. Disclaimer: I did well in the course, but not at all because of him.
Explains everything very simply.
I took Uppal's MAT223 last semester but I was not very happy about his pedagogy. However, this semester his teaching in MAT224 is more interesting and easy to understand. I guess for the beginners in linear algebra his explanation could be tough but as soon as you have a general idea of linear algebra his class could be fun.
The way he handled the second midterm was terrible. The class did awful, and the instructors blamed this entirely on the students. If you have 1500 students unexpectedly do terrible on a midterm, I don't think you can blame it on the students!
Too abstract, not practical course for a math major.
I'd prefer not to elaborate.
such a tough professor
Will not take a class with him again.
Really harsh and tough
Take more time and care about students. Rude. Can't beleive him
Useless lectures, terrible textbook.
his lecture is well-organized, but u better not skip the lecture.
Finally, we are using a clear written txtbk for 224, but now we are doing this weekly assignment, and received emails suggesting us to study them for midterms, which is hilarious because each assignment contains two useless questions that have no practical use, but MIGHT help our understanding. He's making this simple course way too devastating.
grading is really tough, the average of test 1 in fall term is 70, however we only have 48.
Rude. Be nicer to students - not everyone understands linear algebra terms on the first try, and people are shy. Just because some dude pulls out his phone at the back of the class doesn't mean he's trying to show you up and disrespect you.
Sean Uppal is hands down the best prof in the mathematics department. He sincerely really cares about his students. I felt bad for him as he has to deal with first years who think they can do what they did in high school which is not study and then still expect an A. His tests are easy compared to the other math courses despite the low averages.
His lecture is really well-organized. Dont skip any lecture because the lectures are continuous. Try to understand the examples which discuss in class and for MAT224, writing assignment is important to think deeply with linear algebra. He is a really good lecturer.
Great math Prof., clear and organized lecture. Recommend him if you are taking mat223/224. Yet, not a very nice guy, not really accessible.
His notes are crystal clear and way easier to understand than the textbook, just make sure you have it if you fail to catch up with him in class. I think he is very systematic and gives you the intuition behind the abstract concepts, very helpful and important. Highly recommend him as a lecturer.
Solid prof. If you did well in MAT223, MAT224 wouldn't be extremely hard as some people said. He explained everything well and the level of difficulty of the tests were reasonable based on your quiz and homework.
Clear, wonderful lectures. He truly cares about students performance in the course and takes suggestions well. Shame that hes not the course coordinator this semester.
A great lecturer, really makes his mission that students understand the material. The homework assignment are fair and can usually boost your mark. His tests are tricky, you must really understand the material in order to get a good mark, cant just memorize the process of how to do a question
Makes math major courses more complicated than necessary.
This is a hard and boring course, but thanks to Uppal. He is the best math prof in uoft!
He didn't allow to take a photo for his lecture. His lecture is all handwriting and he wrote so fast that the only thing you can do in the lecture is writing without thinking. If you ask questions after class he rarely answers you. So basically, study 223 all by yourself.
Good lecturer, bad tester
He does not care about his student AT ALL. The average for the term test was 40% and he REFUSED to give any partial marks although I got most of them right according to the test solution.
He's a really great lecturer. His calm attitude is comforting. Tests are really quite difficult though.
He's a good lecturer but also a highly self-centered person, which means he does not care about his students and is impatient with students' questions. Tests are really hard.
He is unresponsive to questions on piazza, doesnt post solutions to practice questions for assessments, refuses to post past finals with solutions, rushes through the material every lecture or leaves questions blank without even caring we understand or not, never curves marks when they are low, doesnt post solutions to any practice problems
He is very arrogant, not approachable at all. He did not post solutions. He refused to regrade exams with partial marks. He made tests extremely hard and did not curve when the grade is about 50%-60%. Many students had to drop. He does not care about his student.
Uppal is an amazing lecturer. He presents the content in an interesting way and works through examples with the class to lead to new ideas. He is always willing to wait on questions and often checks we are understanding the material. If we're not, he goes over it in a different way to try to get to us.
MAT224 is a challenging course and Prof. Uppal is a great person. If you run into trouble in his class, please ask him for some feedbacks. They are very helpful.
Never thought I would enjoy 224 after taking 223, but Prof. Uppal's enthusiasm during lectures changed that. If you're in 224, make sure to go to his office hours; he's very patient and understanding, and will take as long as he needs to help you out. He isn't that active on Piazza though. Overall an amazing prof who changed my view on math.
This guy doesn't even post typed full solutions to writing assignments and tutorial problems, he told tas to mark harshly causing marks to be low, tas are pretty useless in tutorials, never curves marks when they are low.. would never his class again
awful
Lazy lecturer. This guy is rude and unprofessional, he lies and ignores students and refuses to make time to discuss problems in office hours and says 'you are on your own' and his lecture is hard with bad teaching. Terrible experience
Awful pro with no reception to foreign student.
Excellent prof who knows his stuff. The lectures were very well set up to ground your understanding of the topics, but they do require A LOT of work outside of class. Also, his speaking tone is very... relaxed and it is very, very easy to lose focus or begin to nod off, especially if you have a morning class. Overall, good but unenthusiastic prof.
If you get this man as your calc professor RUN. I am serious if I had one opp in the world it would be him. He doesn't teach in class and goes through a few weird examples related to the pre class reading every lecture. Also if you ask him for help during office hours he doesn't help and keeps telling you to think about the problem more.
Lecture include past exam questions, however lectures are very confusing if you dont verse yourself in the topic beforehand, do so if you want to get good value out of the lectures. Final grades did not feel like they faced any adjustment to them even thought the course average is seemingly below what it should be. However this is all speculation.
Terrible proff!
One of the best profs I had during my first semester at U of T. His lectures are great; he goes over examples that are more difficult/tripped up students instead of just basic examples like many profs do. This means though, that you have to do your PCEs so you have some understanding of the material before class. His exams are fair.
Gives good but difficult lecture practice problems. Was course coordinator so exams are very similar to his lecture practice. If you can do all those you will be fine.
Sean appears to be cold on the outside, but if you make an evident effort, he will warm up quickly. His lectures were informative and his lecture problems were very useful for exam/midterm prep.
Sean Uppal is honestly one of the best professors for calculus. At the start of the year, I disliked him because I did not do as well on the midterm - but I realized his lectures and practice problems were very structured and organized for learning. Appreciate this professor, you might not like him right now but you will soon.
Horrible avoid at all cost
AWSOME PROF, VERY INTELLIGENT, VERY NICE
A professor truly teach you what is calculus, helped you understand how everything works, really miss him😭😭😭
I skipped every professor's lecture in the first term except his, because it is the only one that actually teaches students and inspires them. His lectures are amazing and actually inspire you to think. Very responsible professor who cares about his students' learning.
the midterm was pretty consistent, practice problems are doable, do the inclass examples as well.
