good teacher with a lot of work very cool and easy to deal with power point lectures everyday may cause drowseyness
Good teacher, keeps biology as interesting as possible and explains lectures well, which at times can be a little long winded. But overall I would recommend him.
He very to work with and he know the subject very well. It was a fun class

He know the subject and explain it very well. He use the powerpoint in the leture, and it very helpful. Sometime the class seem very long, and it hard to keep me awake, but it was a good class. I enjoy it very much and I recommand it to anyone.
He very helpful and good teacher. Its seem long and it hard to keep awake sometime, he try to keep it interesting as possible. But I recommand him as a teacher
Made class fun and challanging.
He is a fun teacher and makes sure everyone understands the lectures. Some of the assignments are time consuming and a little tough, but they really benefit you on the tests!

He is a very helpful teacher. Very interesting and such a nerd its hilarious. those mushroom shirts. excellent.
Awesome class! (Online version)
I didn't enjoy this class as much as others who have posted..lol. I took the class online which i will never do again (thank goodness)I struggled so much with getting a response from him when I submitted emails. I had a hardtime understanding the modules and feel that if you want to learn take it in person! NOT ON THE INTERNET. Most people dropped
I took this course online. For him to respond it took about 3-5 days. Didn't help when you have assignment questions and their is a due date. I know that classes online are not meant to be easier, however I felt punished for it. I spend anywhere from 10-15 hours a week towards this class. I worked full time and go to school part time. It was hard
I don't know why people posted that it took him a while to respond to emails. Whenever I emailed him he always responded to me within 24 hours. He is very sweet, explains everything very well and is extremely flexible. The online class is a lot of work so DO NOT take it if you are incapable of learning BIO out of a classroom setting.
Mr. Whitcomb was a good teacher and gave extra credit oppurtunities. I didn't know anything in regards to Biology prior to his class. Took online class and it was hard for me not having hands on and understanding all of it.
Mr.Whitcomb was a great teacher. He got back to me quickly and helped me out when ever I had troubles. Gave extra credit opportunities which really helped. This class in general was tough.Alot of self teaching.Overall I wouldn't recommend the class online but if you had to take it I would recommend Mr.Whitcomb he will make it as painless as possible.
Really nice professor. As expected a lot of work was required on the online class, but it wasn't so hard if you give enough effort. Answers your question thoroughly and gives helpful feedback.
Professor Whitcomb was a wonderful teacher. He would reply very quickly with questions you had, and he was very organized when it came to the class. It was lots of work, but it was managable. The only annoyance was the lab book, it was not as clear as it could have been.
Great teacher. Class was very interesting.
I took this class online, and I really enjoyed it. The instructor is very organized, and helpful. But be warned, this class is not easy. If you want to do well you will have to work hard.
Sean Whitcomb is by far the best professor I've ever had. He makes class exciting and can easily keep your attention. The assignments aren't too hard and he gives great feed back. He's very caring and is always willing to work with you. He's also not bad to look at if you know what I mean. I'd take this class again in a heart beat!
I am not a big fan of science, but this professor does a great job of keeping the class interesting! The material is not difficult to comprehend as long as you attend lecture and lab, as well as participate. Also has a nice butt
Taking environmental biology with Sean Whitcomb was a pleasure. The lectures are genuinely interesting and keep you engaged the whole time. If you attend lectures and labs regularly, the exams won't be difficult.
Great Professor overall. Very reasonable and organized. No book either which is a plus. BIO 105 is basically a sustainability class and is not hard if you pay attention in class. Just know if you take the class that meets one day a week the class does get boring around hour 2 but that isn' his fault. Would recommend the class!
He is a really great professor. He really cares about his students and try to help us anyway he can.
You show up, pay attention, and it's that easy. Makes material easy to learn and enjoyable which a lot of teachers fail at.
Sean was an awesome teacher. Really enjoyed the class.
Sean was a great professor. He does make you participate in groups, it helps a lot with trying to understand global issues and causes of harm on the environment. He's very flexible with due dates, late work just gets deducted appropriately. Small weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts.
He's really laid back with everything including grading, as long as you show up to class and the lab, and pay attention, you will easily pass. He's super respectful and a great teacher!!
Sean was a great professor, the lectures go by fast and the labs are pretty easy. He is very helpful and caring, he gives a lot of extra credit assignments, and he lets you use notes on exams!
Dude is awesome, Would definitely take another class he teaches. Everything is fun or at least straight to the point. Real down to earth guy who just "gets it". Show up, listen, do the homework and you'll get an A.
Lets you use notes on tests.
he knows his environmental stuff and makes it interesting to learn about.
Amazing teacher, cares about his field in a way few do.
The class was amazing, professor knew the material very well and has created an exciting course. You cannot skip class, one chapter test every week with unlimited attempts, one lab every week and four tests. Highly recommend if you are interested in the environment.
He makes sure you understand the material, he is alway available to help and answer any questions. make sure to not skip any class, good amount of homework. Great guy, i would definitely take another of his classes . Also he has a good sense of humor!
He is the best teacher in MCC and he is very knowledgeable. He is respectful and always ready to help. Amazing
One of the best professors I've had at MCC. If you show up to class, it should be an easy A. There were no required text books which is a big plus also. Test questions come directly off the provided study guides.
Sean Whitcomb is an exceptional professor, maybe even enough to be teaching at a university level. However, because I am taking a course of his that are targeted for students not majoring in a science degree, the material is at least difficulty. Despite the course, if his teaching style is the same among other classes than I still stick to my word
He is truly a great professor and really cares about the environment and wants to educate young people about the effects we have on the environment. The lectures are on tuesdays and labs are on Thursdays, it can be a long class but he give you 1-2 10 minutes breaks throughout so make sure to bring a snack! The class is easy, textbook is free!
Too bad I can only choose three tags from above. He is an amazing teacher. From the first day of class, all students were participating in class. He is extremely knowledgeable yet is the type of teacher that treats you with respect and encourages you to think. His feedback is centered around critiquing and never condescending. Xtra credit 2
Tips for passing this class: Attend class and don't miss the lab. Before exams, there will be study guilds posted on canvas and remember to memorize the answer to the questions on there.
He is a very dedicated and passionate professor, who knows his stuff inside and out. He's excellent at presenting new material and concepts in ways that are easy to understand, remember and apply to real life. Inspiring, funny and encourages students to develop their own ideas and participate in class.
Good teacher. Very knowledgeable of current issues as they relate to the topic of Environmental Biology. Homework was consistent but not overly difficult. Class and content was fair and diverse and easy so long as you attend and pay attention to the main talking points and labs.
Amazing professor! Not a super easy A class, you have to put some work into it, but you'll also learn so much! Totally recommend taking his class!
Hands down one of the best professors I had at MCC. Sean is truly passionate about the subject he teaches and the success of his students. As long as you put in the effort to complete the assignments/labs you will do great on the 4 exams. I definitely recommend Sean to anyone in a heartbeat!
Sean is an awesome professor. All the info you need to know is covered in his lecture slides and reading articles that are provided through canvas so no book is necessary. Provides study guides for each test. If you show up, pay attention and do the assignments you will have no problem getting an A.
Amazing lecture!!! I actually learned a lot from Sean!!! !! He has changed my mine about the meaning of biology!!! Very gentle and pefossional instructor!!! Would love to take again!!
Honestly, I don't think I could have asked for a better professor for this class. I walked in skeptical because evolution would be a big part of the material, but he presented the facts and allowed you to walk away with your own opinions. I really appreciated that. The class was very interactive and straight forward. Definitely 10 out of 10!
Sean is AWESOME! Would take his class again!
Sean Whitcomb was the first teacher I have had that has shown genuine care for what is going on in the environment and it was a great pleasure to take his class, and I will use the material I have learned from this course and use it to help contribute toward making the planet a better place.
Professor Whitcomb was a really good instructor. I learned a lot from his class and I would definitely take him again if I could. He offers a lot of extra credit which is nice too.
Sean is a great professor and very helpful. The class is lecture/lab based. typically, one class, we will lecture and the next we will participate in a lab. The class isn't relatively difficult, lectures are interesting and labs are normally finished in class. If you need a science credit I would highly recommend this class.
Sean is an amazing educator. He cares about the success of his students and is very approachable. His labs are creative, fun, and informative. You will learn so much and have fun while learning. There is a lot of material to cover and be prepared to be present for all classes otherwise, you will miss out.
Professor Whitcomb is an incredible educator and by far the best teacher I've had. His lectures can be a bit lengthy, but he presents it in an engaging manner that'll always have your attention. He is very knowledgeable and is available to help his students when they need it. 10/10 recommend this professor.
Sean has been a great instructor and his lectures are very interesting. I don't recommend missing out on lecture days because they cover a lot of material. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CLASS!!! gives extra credit to help your grade :)
Sean is an excellent teacher. Aside from his occasional jokes, he is passionate about what he does. Instead of being snobby and inconsiderate towards amateur environmentalists, he is open minded in his teaching. He simplifies concepts in effective ways. This class is heard toward anybody. It is not too difficult. Extra credit was offered many times
Really great teacher! requires no textbook and you always feel engaged with the class all semester.
Great teacher! A little particular about certain things but very willing to talk/answer questions about anything. Very engaging class, some labs are really neat! This is not the class to casually skip though, you WILL miss important information and time. Offers extra credit, but you will have to really work for it, just to get a handful of points.
Wonderful professor who cares a lot about the material and the students. He made me realize I really love the natural sciences, when all my hs teachers from before had turned me off to it. Possibly the best instructor I've ever had. Also, online free textbook, little homework. Pay attn, participate in class, take good notes. This class is relevant
Hands down the best professor in MCC without any doubt. I took this class only to meet graduation requirements, but it turned out to be the most Interesting and enjoyable class that I've taken at MCC. You will get decent grades as long as you put in work and don't skip classes. Pretty much everybody in the class absolutely loved the professor.
If you show up to class and pay attention, you will never have to study and you will pass. If your a more intense student it is not hard to get an A in the class. He's an awesome teacher and cares about his students. If he notices you are falling behind he will reach out to you and offer extra support. Greatest teacher I've ever had!
Mr. Whitcomb is an amazing professor. We knows the subject well and is always open to answering any questions you have. His lectures and labs are fun and keep you engaged. Great guy, would definitely take his class again.
Super great guy! Really cares about how you do in the class and is super helpful when you need assistance. Gives extra credit opportunities but don't rely on those. Also ALWAYS use the study guides he makes for exams.
Can't say enough nice things about him! He cares about his students and clearly loves the material he's teaching. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Not a lot of homework and tests are easy to pass if you know the material on the study guides. If you don't do well/understand something he's very willing to help you do better.
Hes a bit tough, but he knows his stuff which makes it fun and interesting. Hes caring and takes the time to talk to you if needed. 100% recommended.
He is a great teacher. I really enjoyed his class. He brings up topics in a fun learning way. He is also understanding and goes out of the way to help you if you ask. A really good dude. You will enjoy his class!
Pretty fair class, material is explained thoroughly. Participation matters so make sure youre prepared for that.
Loved this class, all the topics were very interesting and the teacher was pretty good at showing the importance of each one!
Took Professor Whitcomb's Environmental Biology course (BIO105) and it was such a great class! Learned so much information and Professor Whitcomb was always an email away when I needed assistance! Will for sure take another course by him and I highly recommend - 10/10!
Took BIO105 with professor Whitcomb, he is amazing, willing to help and his lectures are outstanding! We need more professors like Mr. Whitcomb. Pay attention, do exam reviews, attend class every day and you will have no problem passing the class.
One of the best science teachers I've had! I was worried about labs being online but they were interesting and instructions were always clear. He provides study guides for each test, so if you fill those out you will do well. He also did kahoot games for test reviews, and if you ever have a question he is ready to help you out.
Professor Whitcomb is a great biology professor who is clearly very enthusiastic about what hes teaching. I wish I couldve taken this class in person, but the pandemic was still raging.
Professor Whitcomb was one of the best teachers I have ever had! He is friendly, approachable, caring, smart, professional, and funny. Every Tuesday and Thursday I have looked forward to attending his class as it is interesting and definitely worth taking. I have learned a ton about environmental biology over the last semester. I will miss Bio105!
Amazing professor. Amazing lessons online, self paced. Very genuine and kind. Wise and spends care and love! Thank you for everything and your hard work Sean
Sean makes it very easy to pass the class. He is very clear in his expectations. Read the instructions of the assignments and passing is really not difficult.
Best Professor ever! You will actually learn a lot in his class. 100% recommended.
Very helpful and cares about his students ! Always willing to have student support hours. Know his stuff so it make it fun to learn from him. Overall enjoyed this class.
I loved having Sean for BIO105 because he was passionate and knowledgeable about everything he covered. If you are looking for an sq class I would highly recommend this one since it is one of the easier ones, just have to put in the time and effort.I would say that I learned about a lot of things that I would not have if not for this class.
He is tough but a fair teacher.
Great professor that cares a lot!
He is an awesome teacher
Loved having him as a professor! :) Take him!!!!
I took Prof Whitcomb's class online; however, I didn't feel disengaged from the class. He is very responsive online, and the discussions and engagement assignments offered time to connect with classmates. It was also nice that he related the coursework to real life.
Amazing Professor, very good lectures, not work heavy, attendance is mandatory, very inspirational.
Do not take this class if you struggle with anxiety. Do not take this class if you get bored by over explaining. Do not take this class if you do not like being talked down to. Do not take this class if you are not social for you will be forced to do engaging activities outside of class that apply to your grade.
He has a little attitude but is an overall nice guy. Teaches like a high school teacher the way he gets picky about how everything is done and his tone. Tests are easy just do the study guide. Some out-of-class assignments that I do not believe should be necessary, but this is a fairly easy elective class that can be fun at times.
Sean is very kind and informative in reaching environmental biology to the average person. His class is very structured, so once you get the hang of things, it isn't too bad. Lecture on Tues, Lab with lesson from lecture on Thurs each week until a chapter is finished, then it's review Tues, test on Thurs. His labs can be fun based on your lab group
I don't know if there's a twin of him or something... I've taken many classes with MCC and he is by far the WORST!!!!! Do not take his class... He's rude and condescending! MUCH MORE FOCUSED on you doing it his way than learning... I hate to hate on him but i swear he wanted me to fail from day one. His class 3 hour class will stretch like days!
Sean is an incredibly kind professor and wants to see the students succeed. He knows that most of us are there for a bio cred, but he still makes sure that we understand our content. Not much homework at all, and the labs are extremely fun. 3 hours passes extremely quickly in this class.
This professor was absolutely amazing, He is super helpful and always ready to answer any questions or concerns. I 100% would recommend this professor.
