Amazinf prof. Really helpful and is clear on what he teaches. He wnats student to do well in his class. Reviews exactly what will be on the exam, no surprises. Really good prof. knows a lot succesful people who he brings in as guest speakers. Really good!!!!! one of the best at Ryerson!!!
ONE OF THE BEST PROF'S AT R.U. BEFORE STARTING HIS CLASS, I WASN'T THAT EXCITED, BUT HE MADE EACH AND EVERY CLASS DIFFERENT AND EXCITING. HE GETS THE ENTIRE CLASS INVOLVED IN DISCUSSIONS. ANOTHER GREAT ASPECT OF HIS TEACHING IS GUEST SPEAKERS. LOVED IT. WOULD TAKE ANY COURSE HE OFFERS WITHOUT HESITATION. NOT EAST, BUT IF YOU DO YOUR WORK => A
I'm a 4th yr student who avoided this class b/c I heard Slanger was terrible. I must say this is the best Prof. I have had at Ryerson. Very engaging and knowledgable. He knows his stuff, very interesting class with him. You will not be disappointed. If you pay attention you will get at least an A.
Sean Wise is one of the best professors I've ever had at Ryerson! He made the class so interesting with guest speakers and group discussions. I've never enjoyed a class so much. If you get a chance to enroll into his course, do it. Not an extremely easy course, work still needs to be done but GUARANTEED A if you do the work!
The very best Ryerson has to offer. Other professors should sit in on his class and take notes so they'll be able to see how engaged the class is. His strength lies in communicating the material so well (repeatedly) that it's virtually impossible not to understand the material. It was a priveledge having him as my prof;I'm sure you'll feel the same
He is a good prof but he made us buy the text books that we did not use at all. If you are taking his course DO NOT buy the text books can't believe I listed to him and wasted my money on the text books and after the midterm he told us we will be using the text books for the final well guess what that wasn't really true.
AMAZING Professor! His class was extremely interesting and easy to do well.
Honestly one of the best prof's that the university has to offer. He is very connected and brings in guest to class that offer a lot of valuable advice. I would recommend everyone take this course even if you do not have to.
Professor Wise is just an awesome man! He is SO helpful and clear when it comes to delivering the course material =) it was my privilege being in his class...
Sean is a hottie! Especially with his Burberry scarf ;)
Prof. Wise is probably the best Prof. I had at Ryerson. He's crystal clear about what he wants and is more then willing to help you. If you were to ask him. Sadly he's only teaching ENT526 and a MBA course. Would consider taking another course taught by him again. =)
With confidence I can say that Sean Wise is the best professor that teaches at Ryerson, and perhaps even at other Universities. In his class (ENT 526) what you learn is what will be on the midterm and exam. As long as you do your work and aim towards get an A, the A will be yours as Wise always says.
I am not interesting in this class but it's the required. Wise is ok but some of his tutors are horrible. Just come to class and take notes, you will have a good marks for tests. The essay is meaningless and is marked by tutors. They will not give you good mark if you're not native speaker
Very good professor, he will give you all the help that you need(not that you will need any with his easy class), his papers are easily graded if you can spell and use punctuation, he gives away things that will be on his midterm, and he's just an all around great professor. Highly recommended if you want to bring up your GPA and a great experience
Awesome prof. One of my BEST profs in my 5 yrs at Rye!! Goto class, print off the slides, take notes. THose notes are ALL YOU NEED TO PASS THE COURSE!! Funny guy, can be a bit blunt sometimes, but understandable when ppl are being noisy/distracting in class. I signed up for his other course just cause he's teaching it!!
Took both 526&601 with him, he uses the same methods for both courses. He's clear about what he wants from you. Attendance isn't required but very advisable if you want to do well in the course. His slides are extremely helpful, just memorize them to get an A. He's a great guy with a wicked sense of humor, & is very fair no matter what others say.
The class is easy but the course material is rather boring. The material used in the class is highly unacademic(it is PDF files he has saved off blogs and random podcasts). This is not a university level class and you won't learn much, but take it to get a good grade if anything else.
Sean is totally amazing. He teach extremely well and has a great sense of humor. If your a 9, you'll get an A+ but 6's get an B. If you put in the time you'll get the mark. oh yea, dont be late with assignments because the class is pretty anal because they will determine your faith. Great class... finish with an A+
Cant ask for a better professor, is an amazing speaker keeps your interest. Has recent real world experience. Tells you exactly what he is looking for on tests and assignment. Easy A if you follow instructions.
Sweet prof!
Amazing Prof!! Do the work, and put the time in, and you'll do well. He is also very quick in his email replies and is willing to put in time outside of classroom to help students.
If you are passionate about entrepreneurship, you have nothing to worry about. You will have everything to be excited about. Great Class
Very good professor. His classes are entertaining and educational
best prof i have ever had in my 5 years of post seceondary, very insirpring and motivating, you must be an complete idiot to fail one of his classes
It's simple: the best professor at Ryerson period. Don't need to type much else for you to get the hint.
All I need to say is that Professor Sean Wise is THE GREATEST prof in all of Ryerson University.
Very good Prof. He is so passionate about entrepreneurship and helping students do well as long as you put in the work! Take his class and you will gain some real perspective.
This guy's uselessness is only ecipsed by his arrogance. Absolutely zero help, totally buys into his own hype and completely disengaging as a professor. Turn and RUN away from a class with this guy (I can't even call him a proffessor without cringing).
Sean is an awesome lecturer. He boils down complicated concepts so everyone understands them. ENT 526 and ENT 601 gave me the skills to identify good or bad ENT opportunities.
I'm a 4th yr student I must say this is the best Prof. I have had at Ryerson. Very engaging and knowledgable. He knows his stuff, very interesting class with him. You will not be disappointed. If you pay attention you will get at least an A.
Amazinf sickk prof. Really awesome & helpful and is clear on what he teaches. He wants students to do well in his class. Reviews exactly what will be on the exam, no surprises. Really good prof. knows a lot succesful people who he brings in as guest speakers. Really good!!!!! one of the best at Ryerson!!! Guaranteed A or A+! you wont reg
Amazinf CRAZY prof. Really helpful and is clear on what he teaches. He wnats student to do well in his class. Reviews exactly what will be on the exam, no surprises. Really good prof. knows a lot succesful people who he brings in as guest speakers. Really good!one of the best at Ryerson!!!EASY A, JUST WORK HARD!
The very best Ryerson has to offer. Other professors should sit in on his class and take notes so they'll be able to see how engaged the class is. It was a priveledge having him as my prof;I'm sure you'll feel the same
AMAZING ILL Professor! His class was extremely interesting and VERY VERY easy to do well. EASY A....NO JKS!:)
Best prof i have ever had in my 5 years of post seceondary, very insirpring and motivating, you must be an complete idiot to fail one of his classes...VERY EASY A+ 1) ITS AN INTRO CLASS, & ITS EASY!
Very good professor, he will give you all the help that you need(not that you will need any with his easy class, his papers are easily graded if you can spell and use punctuation...EASIEST CLASS AT RYERSON...TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! A+++ ALL THE WAY BABY!:)
Good prof. Easy course. Very repetitive, to the point where it gets boring. If it's your first course in entrepreneurship you'll probably find it useful. If you dealt with ENT before, you'll find the material repetitive and boring.
Easy course, Wise knows his stuff and knows how to teach. Come to class on time and prepared, he will randomly call on people to answer questions. Learned a lot, highly recommended.
One of if not the best prof @ Ryerson. Was really engaging, created interest and wants to help students. He is straight forward and is very approachable. TAs mark all the work and write the tests but they are pretty good. Just go to class and read the cases and you'll do great
Great Prof had him for both 601 and 526. Just go to class and learn he is very good at teaching and he helps you understand the terms very easily as well as review them during the next class before the lesson. As for midterms and final aslong as you go to class and do the slides you'll be fine. Overall the best prof I had at Ryerson!
He is very arrogant, always talks about himself. He picks on students so pay attention. He is very strict with people coming to class late. Overall, easy class. Studied from notes I took in class and got an A+.
Make sure you do the reading prior to each class, it is mandatory!! and make sure you participate. He is an AMAZING professor.
Sean is a good professor; his TA's are more helpful for review though. You must attend class because there will be discussions and videos that you may not be able to find online. Participation is really important in his class and he will pick on you so be prepared. If you come to class, participate and know your stuff you can easily get an A!
amazing lecturer!! you MUST attend all classes and make notes about everything he talks about this is the KEY to getting an A in the course! you will never get bored in the class since his interacting back and forth with the class all the time!great pleasure having him as my prof.
The best prof, I have had at Ryerson. GMS profs should attend his lectures to learn what teaching is all about!Very well organized . TA's are helpful too.If you don't take him, you have missed something substantial!
very strict on punctuality, no tolerance for lateness, if you hand in hard copy a minute late 0 midterm: no multiple choice, a lot of writing paragraphs, the rest are short answer questions based on theories and definitions. All questions are for marks, no choosing or alternatives. Lectures are great but he's arrogant and not one of the nice ppl
He is very smart. He wants the students to succeed, listen, attend lectures, hand in assignments on time and you will get a good mark. If you attend the lecutres, you will do well on the exams. If you read the assignment expectations you will do well on the assignments. LOVED THIS CLASS.
I rate him styll. One of the best profs, very lucky to have had him.
The way Sean presents his lectures makes it easy to pay attention and retain information. Going to class is essential to get a good mark, and he despises when students don't show upshow up late. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches and that resonates on the students very clearly. Great prof. Would recommend to anyone.
Sean is an amazing prof, one of the best at Ryerson. You have to come prepared to class to be fully engaged. His lectures go over everything you need to know for the exam. Sean makes you want to go to class and learn. Follow the guidelines and you'll get an easy A. Very strict on handing assignments on time.
Sean Wise is my life. I think he's the best prof I've ever had, and makes all classes very interesting. You could probably not go to class and end up doing well, but going to class will be a great experience. Marks fairly, and going to class he prepares you for midtermsfinal. Very fair assignments, and he's an amazing prof.
Sean Wise is by far the best person at Ryerson. BUT he has his TA mark the assignments..... And let me tell you, she was more concerned with her own company than our marks. She would rarely reply to emails, was rude to many students. I think her marking style resembles that of the staircase marking joke. Take Sean if you can! You won't regret it.
Great prof
Just take his classes and you'll see why people like him. I wouldn't recommend taking ENT 526 with any other Prof at Ryerson. Wise is the man.
Sean can come off quite disrespectful and full of himself. For example, he had one student kicked out of class for walking in 15 minutes late. Apparently this doesn't describe his character in previous years, not sure what changed his attitude. Classes didn't feel welcoming or enjoyable with his lectures. Great course, terrible instructor.
Sean Wise is a great professor! He definitely made the class really easy to understand and enjoyable. Those that complained about his "rudeness" are the type of students that came to class late, not ready to learn, and disruptive. If you're there to learn and enjoy an interactive professor then he' s your prof!
REALLY GOOD PROF
Wise tells you to buy his textbook and theres a difference of an A and a B if you do, don't listen to that but make sure you go to class and prepare to write lots of notes. No MCQ on tests so you better start memorizing. Easy course overall and sign up early for Launch Zone bonus marks sessions.
Those complaining about him being a jerk if you came late, it's university, the next step is the real world. Prof Wise simply told us to get it together, now or never. I didn't use the textbook, he tells you what you need to know. MIdterm and final were very fair. Assignments have clear criteria and if you follow them, you ace them. Loved him
Awesome professor, his lectures were enthusiastic and very interesting. You don't need the textbook for this course, just come to class and take notes. I love how he called out students for being late or being rude in class, as he said "you're a university student, act like it!" He's really approachable and really wants his students to learn!
He's a good professor, insofar as his ability to impart knowledge to his students is concerned. However, he has an annoying tendency to bemoan 'millennials' and otherwise condescend towards his students. He can be rigid, rude and unaccommodating. The class is easy and well worth taking, but the prof's personality leaves something to be desired.
Easy class to get an A, assignment guidelines are very straightforward. Prof is knowledgeable about the topic and teaches the material very well. Great prof, however as a person, doesn't come across as the nicest. Note: DO NOT ever show up late, he will call you out.
If you can't show up ready to learn at 8AM forget it. If you're late you WILL get called out. On the other hand, if you're like me and want an A+ based SOLELY off lecture material, then just show up to every class and you'll get your A+ handed to you on a silver platter.
Professor Wise can come out as being rude but he is for the right reasons. He dislikes students who come to class late which makes sense because you have to be on time in the real world. Other than that, follow his instructions, study exactly what he says and it is an A+ course. one of the most amazing profs and interesting course I've taken so far!!
The most amazing prof ever! Loved his lectures
Sean is the man, but two very important things: NEVER come to class late, you will be embarrassed, and be prepared to participate, you will be called out to answer questions. Amazing prof who really knows how to TEACH. Went to every single Monday 8am lecture, that's how great they were.
the best prof I've had at Ryerson so far
Best prof I've had so far! Even though the class was at 8am he still managed to keep the class engaged. I usually never show up to 8am lectures but for this lecture I was actually excited to go. Very clear on what he wants from his students and leaves many resources to help you with the assignments and exams. Do not be late for this class!!!
One of the best profs I've had at Ryerson. The only time he is "disrespectful" is when students are late (its uni grow up). The class is an easy A+. You get two assignments (which he gives you at the start of the year). You get 10% attendance marks. Final and Midterm are based on his slides and he usually tells you a third of the test beforehand.
Easy class. Content is not difficult - you just have to go to lecture. Prof is extremely rude. The comments below are correct, he will call you out if you're late, but he will also call you out if he thinks you're talking, if you don't raise your hand he will call on you (and embarrass you). Not a nice person lol
Professor needs to learn that not all students learn through participation and that embarrassing someone for coming late (without asking them why beforehand) is very demotivating and hurtful to newcomers. My friend is new to Canada and was called out in the second week of class for coming 15 mins late. Class is easy, prof is very rude.
This class is fantastic. No textbook, but requires outside programming (50$). Sean is one of the best profs at Ryerson. This class requires weekly work of about 15-20 minutes, and you will get an A or A+. Have to come to class though (attendance). It's fun, easy, and would recommend to anyone.
Worth the hype. Only half of the course is spent in lectures where team videos are reviewed. Other half is meetings with TA. No final - one painfully easy midterm that can be finished in 15 minutes (yes, I'm serious). No text - $49 subscription to website. Only criticism is that the communication between Sean and the TA's often conflicts.
Sean is an amazing professor. You MUST go to class and participate! Also, don't arrive late. His lectures are so beneficial, I felt like I hardly had to study because of them. DO NOT buy the textbook. Everything you need to know is said in class. If you follow the instructions on the assignments, you'll get an A+. I definitely recommend him!
Prof Wise gives great lectures all you have to do is show up to all classes and take notes he also gives great reviews before midterms and exams. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE FOR THE MIDTERM. This year the prof didn't let a student write the midterm when she came in 5-10 min late so don't let this happen to you. Other than that totally recommend.
Sean is extremely rude, he will call you out and embarrass you. He doesn't have any patient for students
Sean is a great prof and honestly very helpful. I took this class because I was really interested in startups. But unfortunately, the opposite happened. Instead of choosing our groups, we're put in them. And if you don't have a good group for the project... Good luck. It's more work than you think.
VERY disorganized. There is a lot of miscommunication in the class. You are expected to learn from 5-10mins videos, offline. No rubric for any projects & TAs were rude & unhelpful & I felt bad for seeking help. He might be a successful business person, but that doesn't mean he's a successful instructor. I want to add that I finished with an A.
Prof Wise was the most arrogant, rude and condescending prof I've ever had. He is knowledgeable about the subject, but has few skills with how to deal with students and the multitude of ways that we learn. Zero people skills! Being a good prof requires you to engage students in a variety of ways and not be rude about it. Avoid him at all costs.
The projects are pretty easy but ENT500 requires a lot of time. In terms of Professor Wise, he can be extremely blunt at times but you know he's doing it for the right reasons. He knows what he's talking about. Professor Wise is hands-off in this course, which can be good but also bad. You're very independent but it helps you become an entrepreneur
Sean wise gives good lectures that are easy to understand, but he picks on people and has a pretty big ego He gives an insane amount of homework and you have to work with the same group the entire semester. The class is basically run by TAs who give inconsistent instructions. His class is a ton of work but at least its an easy A.
Theres no communication between Sean and his TAs. They always provide information about homework and due dates that differ from the syllabus, and post the wrong videos for us to evaluate on peer scholar. The class is a ton of work even though most people take it as an elective.
Dr. Wise is a great professor. He really cares about his students and makes learning enjoyable even in an online environment. However, if you are looking for an easy A and you hate going to class - this is not the class for you. A majority if your grade comes from going to class, however with him as a prof you actually want to go to class
Had him for online course. Very engaging and honestly a great prof. His teaching methods are effective and one of the few profs where I actually learned something. Downside was that he forced webcams on for participation. Also, this is a subjective pro or con but he will pick on people to answer questions which will force you to pay attention.
Literally first day of class, was there before ryerson time and this prof didn't let us in after 20 mins. Then he calls us out, embarrasses us and says to turn on camera for participation. We can choose if we want to turn on or off our cameras but here you are being forced to. For people who are anxious to be picked on, do not take his class.
Extremely rude and all he talks about is him being an entrepreneur like hes the only one in the world, his 100 steps is the biggest scam.
ALL THE 4/5 REVIEWS ARE FAKE DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE!!!!! He's a terrible professor. He embarrasses you with everybody in attendance. He also makes you BUY a subscription to HIS OWN WEBSITE to watch modules and do the worksheet. How messed up is it to make money off your students?
He is by far the rudest prof I have ever encountered. He does not have a nice bone in his body - he comes to class, doesn't give a lecture BUT he'll come to roast his students and then he'll tell us to go into our breakout groups. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS EVEN IF U ARE DESPERATE FOR A CREDIT TRUST ME IT IS NOT WORTH IT!
Terrible. Do not take this class. He probably makes the admin of his 100steps2startup. com to write fake reviews here. He makes you buy a subscription to his own website mentioned above and gives you a coupon code. Doesn't reply to his emails. Can I say more? Read all the bad reviews below they are all facts and the other ones are fake.
This prof wants you to treat his elective course like your life depends on it. You will be expected to spend actual money to run real ads and have to work consistently with a group in and out of class for weekly assignments. He does say if you're willing to put in the work then you'll get an A, which is true, but be ready to grind for an elective.
The class is built on group projects which can be great if you have a good team but can be more complicated if your team members are not participative. Otherwise, Professor wise is great! Easy marker and wants you to fully understand the class's content instead of learning it by heart.
Sean taught the concepts very well and he had really engaging lectures. For an 8AM, he never bored us and we learned a lot. You're also graded on many different things so it's easy to catch up if you don't do well on one assignment.
Really good prof, just dont be late, he will call you out for it.
Is clear about what will be on the exam but uses the exact same examples every. single. time. Will pick on people if no one volunteers for his questions. Never misses an opportunity to talk about his business ventures or how he can borrow $5M and we can't:( Has said that he would give the book he wrote as a "reward" to top achievers on the exam.
Requires you to pay for his online course and is completely disconnected from course structure and content. TA basically runs the class
For ENT 500 we had to pay for Wise's website to actually do the group project and finish the course. He always said that it was okay for some groups to be ahead and some groups to be behind, but that was not the case at all. workload is extremely heavy. do not take this class.
Easy content but HEAVY workload. Literally have to dedicate your semester to this course. Not my cup of tea in terms of his teaching strategies. While some see him as a tough prof I just see him as rude and condescending tbh. Worst course I've ever taken, wish I read the reviews on him before taking it. Save urself and don't take this course.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Prof makes you buy his 100-step program, which is expensive and useless. You also have to do a sales competition, pick a product off of Ali Express, and drop ship it, which is not Entrepreneurship. Prof does not teach at all. He calls students out and embarrasses them. This course was my worst nightmare come to life.
Can be hard at times but explains concepts well and tests are relevant to class content. Make sure you keep up with weekly content as he will go over each class. Was difficult to do well on the exams.
While the work wasn't exactly ''difficult'', the workload was very intensive. The class is also incredibly disorganized and relied heavily on students buying his expensive online course as mandatory material. This class relies heavily on group work and there's little empathy from him if one of your members is slacking or if you're struggling.
Please don't take this course. This is what the course description should be: You will pay a grown child $200 to work for hours on his Temu-quality group worksheets, then "dropship" a random product on Aliexpress. If you sell anything, he will keep 95% of your profits, and then 80% if you actually make a profit. Please don't pay this man $200! :)
Sean Wise had an engaging lecture style, and I learned things that will undoubtedly help me in the future. The only criticism that I have is that he was immensely particular about the start time of the class. He would call out and scold any students who arrived late in front of everyone else. Either arrive on time or don't come at all.
