He was really hard...DO NOT, I repeat..Do not take his statistics class during the summer...His failure rate is almost 70%
Do not take this guy- too difficult to understand. Does not care to help anyone and reviews are not on the test.
He was an awesome teacher, I had to take this course twice..I had no problems whatsoever, received a B. Has a great personality and answers questions.
I thought he was a good teacher. I just think that this class is a difficult one but there really is no getting around it. But he gives no extra credit or anything.
he is not very helpful. he is very unapproachable
Sean substituted for our professor one day this past summer and he was an excellent teacher. I understood him better than my own teacher. I was sad to hear was going to the Clearwater campus. They are lucky down there... to have him.
He is the worst math teacher ever!! You email him and his automated response sends you an email so you know that he read your email but never takes the time to email you back. Very hard and does not explain math well.
I think he is a good teacher. If you take notes and do the homework (which is not required) you will do well. You have to do the work to do well.
Very nice professor, I had him last semester and he is very approachable and will answer any questions but you really need to do the homework to pass the class
This guy is an excellent teacher, but his tests are horrible. It's very difficult to get an A.
He makes the class very difficult
Good teacher. However, I think that this class is a challenging one so be prepared to study.
I agree the test are horrible. I didnt like his teaching style because he would teach lessons like you already knew the material.
He is not a good teacher at all. He does not go over any of the homework, he teaches like you already know the stuff, and his tests are hard. I do not recommend him, if you want to get a good grade in his class and actually learn something.
Oh what a jerk!.. Not helpful at all, constantly makes mistakes when doing problems. wants you to kow all the formulas, never enough time to take tests since you have to show all work.. If you want to pass don't waste your money!!
He's awesome! He is really how a college professor should be! He makes the course very challenging, but is never too busy to help out. Not an easy "A"... but doable!
very helpful and he knows what he is talking about. tests are very hard! study hard!
He does a decent job teaching the material, but it is up to you as a student to stay on top of everything he presents. If you are not on top of everything, things become very difficult. Tests are hard and there usually arn't curves. Quizes are lifesavers.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! He is really nice and helpful, but his tests are way too in depth. I would only take him if you were going to major in STATS. (not if it is just a required pre-coarse)
I loved this teacher, he was awesome. his tests were hard but only if you didn't study. All of the problems came right from the homework. If you did your homework you would pass.
He is a very nice guy, but a horrible professor. He is not clear at all and expects you to already know the way to work the problems. I am an A student and I got a "d" in his class....Do Not Take Him!!!
Just stay away! Sean is a nice guy but a lousy instructor. Teaches way over the students heads. And funny enough, he'll take 35 mins of classtime on the board, doing a prob. and do it all wrong.....Then just move on with "well..you know how to do it"..Just stay away!!!!!
Hes really helpfull when you have a problem. He knows what hes taling about, and he's an overall nice guy.
Sean is extremely nice, but not always clear in teaching. It is up to the student completely to learn ea. chapter. Tests/quizzes not curved. He WILL help if a question is directly asked, otherwise assumes you know it. You must do every assignment he suggests in order to keep up. I have a decent GPA & rec'd very poor grade in class.
Sean made the class very interesting. Yes, it was extremly challenging, however, he taught it in a way where I caught on easier. I strongly recommend him...just make sure you stay on top of things and you'll be fine.
do your homework, and keep up and youll do fine! ps. no calculators aloud!!!!!
Awesome guy. Helped me pass my algerbra class when i probably shouldnt have.
Great teacher! The people that said he was a lousy teacher dont understand that you HAVE to be a little vague with some material because there is so much to cover. Its up to you to master the material at home!!! He's encourages asking questions and is very helpful if you dont understand something. I DEFINATELY reccomend him!!!!!!!!!!!
Sean is a nice guy. Unfortunatly his tests and quizzes are not so nice. He is way to hard! I would get all of the homework problems right, and then fail his ridiculos tests! He also only puts like 15 qts. on his tests! He is just to hard. He should at least offer extra credit, or curve his tests. I'm a A student, and am strugling in his class.
first off all this guy is so nice, I think he's a good teacher who seems like he wants to help. Not to mention I enjoyed looking at him all semester. I'd like to get some private lessons from him, wink wink.
Sean, is a great teacher, but I agree that the test are not like the homework problems. I too, am an A student and struggle with this class. He is willing to help and encourages it. This class requires a min of 20 hours of studying time. And e is good to look at!!!
Great teacher. The material is hard, but he helps you get through it... Oh yeh, his intelligence is soo sexy =)
Flat out horrible! Rediculous tests. Lets put it this way, I took this class with him, Got a D - to all you who did well Your awesome but for you who are uncertain about Stats DO NOT TAKE HIM. I took another professor cuz I had to take the class again and Got an A. Now I really understand Stats.

great teacher I only hope SPC can provide more teachers like him
I gotta say Sean is a nice guy but not a "great Teacher" he is unclear and makes the tests so that you can't use the 100.00 calculator you had to buy. I also got a d and had to retake the class and then got an A. So I'd say find another teacher...sorry Sean
Very good teacher if you want to learn, but his tests will kick your ass if you dont know the material. Explains things very well. Really down to earth regular guy, doesnt talk down to you and treats you like an equal
He has five tests and the lowest droped. His tests are not multiple choice and he does give partial credit. There were five quizes. He is a very nice guy but his tests are difficult.
Very willing to help explain material. Easy to get a hold of, i.e. voice mail, e-mail. Professor's main focus is going over the method. Doesn't just load students up with problems.
Great professor. Explains the material in detail.Goes over the homework every day. Offers additional assistance. He's willing to help you every time u need help. I would definitely recommend this guy.

I had difficulty learning from him. He stated that if he did not make it look easy, he was not doing his job. I had to drop the course. Did not answer questions that I had when I e-mailed him.
He knows what he is doing. He explains everything systematically and methodically, and will go over and over it with you until you understand every bit of it (but only if you ask). His drawings on the board are always so precise. Overall a very nice guy. All of the "A students" below who got D's are ones that can usually skate by without studying.
Sean is a nice guy but a horrible teacher. He told our class to stop asking questions because there was too much material to cover. Instead of trying to explain something in class he will readily send you to the math lab. I'm an A student and am failing this class. I'm waiting to the drop date and getting out. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!
excellent math teacher. keeps a fast pace, so read sections ahead of time, and if you have questions, he will gladly help you after class.
Not a good teacher to learn anything from. E-mailed questions to him and recieve a short awnser that didn't even awnser my question. Bad teacher in general. I would ask questions in class and he would say Ahhhh we'll get to it latter. Did all my homework and still did bad on the tests.
this class was a struggle for me. he doesn't check homework but must do it to get full concept, not enough time to cover all of section during class. drops lowest test score. nice, but wasn't much help for me.
Could not ask for a better calculus teacher. But don't expect him to feed you from a spoon. Read ahead and class lectures will be a breeze.
nice guy. explans too much. shows u 100 different ways to do the same problem. very confusing. use the cd that comes with the book to study for his tests. its helpful.
Very hard class but who thinks statistics is easy??? He is very helpful when you need it. And he's really hot!
What a wonderful teacher!! He is so helpful and really knows his stuff.
Pretty good teacher, my only problem with his class was that he talked so soft that i had a really hard time keeping myself awake, and i dont think it was just me besause i caught the the kid next to me dozing off more that a couple times LOL,but i am being serious its really hard to stay awake in his class
very helpful!! just please do the homework! it really does help!! And he's already to help.. and he's hott!! really soft spoken.. make sure your wide awake before you go in!!
Teacher is very friendly and down to earth. Very monotone voice may put you to sleep. Make sure you do the homework or you will be completely lost. I am an A student but have a C/D in the class, and am retaking it next semester. Really nice guy, but hard to follow goes fast.
Goes a little fast, but is always accessible via email and very helpful. Knows the material and can get it across pretty well. I have to agree with the soft voice putting you to sleep though.
Stat is hard. Period. But he will pull you through, if you dedicate yourself to studing at home. Excellent teacher and always ready to help! A+
This class is hard, and if you're not good at math, I would not suggest going full time with this is your schedule. I am re-taking it, not b/c of Woodruff, but b/c I didn't have enough time to devote to the class b/c I had 4 other classes. That shouldn't discredit him though b/c it was my fault I failed. He is monotone though, so drink coffee!
He is a very good teacher and really wanted every student to pass. Stats is extremely hard and takes a lot of home time. If you really do the homework, go to class, ask questions and study his notes, you can pass.
i love this teacher! I thought he was very helpful, nice, funny and very cute. I hate math, and i thought he did a good job making the class understand. I am still in the class, but i look forward to the rest of class.
he's a little scattered, all over the place. But he seems to make it fun, and he's got a nice voice which makes it easier to listen to, vs. so many monotone instructors that are out there.
I thought he was awesome. He does have a very calm voice, like people have said, but i think he explains things well, i hate math.. but i go all the time, i guess it does help that he is cute too! haha But I think if you are going to take liberal arts 1, i would recommend him! he explaines things so its eaasier to understand.
If your going into engineering take his course. If your taking MAC to satisfy the math requirment there are much easier teachers. He doesn't give extra credit and his lectures are scattered. I would NOT recommend this teacher.
Test are so hard. He i nice guy but dips out 20mins early leaving the class clueless. He just gets through the matterial to get through it. Most people are lost and confused. I am probably going to have to take this Trig class again with a different person.
I have no clue what some of these people are complaining about. He is a fabulous professor and truely cares about your success, IF you make the effort. Do your homework, ask lots of questions, and study. You will be fine.
Math is hard, but he gave me confidence when I met with him 1 on 1 to discuss the trouble i was having. Doing every hmwk assignment is key. HE TAKES Alot of his test questions from there. Hes a cool guy
His teaching is different but works. He doesn't teach according to the book so if you miss a class you will be kinda lost on whats going on and how to do things. His test and quizzez are fine as long as you study a little bit. LOTS OF HOMEWORK. Due the first day of class every week. Yes, he collects every week. Other than that, good teacher.
This teacher is very helpful and I plan on taking another class with him. He was always on target and always willing to stay after to help.
understands the difficulty of the college process. stated multiple times that the college expects you to learn a high school year of math in 3 months and the 3 hours of homework/study to 1 hour of class rule of college. can explain any process of the math he's teaching in a clear way
Best teacher at SPC!!!
Is anal about homework and boring to listen too, but does cover the subject well and is willing to answer questions.
Very hard class. I had a hard time understanding his teaching. Tests are hard and aren't multiple choice. Very nice guy and doesn't mind taking questions but I wouldn't recommend the class unless you're already really great in math.
He is nice & very helpful! Class is 16 wks crammed into 8-9 wks 4 summer, so there's no time to relax! 5 ? quizzes are multichoice, tests are not. Can drop lowest quiz! Gives partial credit on test 4 attempt. 2 work probs. Probs come from book/HW. HW is req'd, but U're able 2 earn xtra cred pts which helps. Dont be afraid 2 ask 4 help if U need it!
I LOVE this guy! He's helpful, kind, funny...and looks good too! He made me look forward to math!
Very hard to understand he doesn't like to "reteach" I dropped him and took Susan Piotrowski am getting an A she's awesome.
Great guy and solid teacher, he tries his hardest to get you to learn the material and lightens the class up with the occassional joke. He grades homework and has a great quiz/test system
I took him for int. algebra. It was difficult because it is so fast paced but he gives plenty of chances to do well and be a successful student.
i could not pass math until i took his class. he is very nice and he teaches well. he is laid back and tries to make things interesting. i would definately recommend him.
took him for pre-calc w/ trig. he assignes a S-load of homework and gives pop quizzes. his personality and speaking tone will bore you to tears. always had lights in class turned off (keep in mind this was a NIGHT class!). He will put you to sleep faster than any other professor ive taken so far at spc and will make you want to give up altogether
Pre-Calc Algebra/ Trig: He's a good guy - a lot of jokes and stories, although both are often cheesy - and knows what he's doing, he provides a lot of side-stepping, but he teaches fast often only using a few examples. Book-learning may be useful. Some things he covers better than others, but he's usually happy to help during or after class.
HE knows what he is talking about but he is not good @ teaching. very Fast paced, gives u examples not typical w/ the books & the tests are WAYY harder then he leads you to believe His quizes are multiple choice but tests are not & gives alot of hwk DO NOT recommend unless you like to teach urself from the book, going to info commons, & youtube!!
Do not take this class unless you are confident that you can teach yourself the material. He is a nice guy, but he doesn't take any time explaining things, nor explain them well. His tests are long and very difficult. He rushes through the material as if everyone gets it perfectly the first time. I don't recommend him to anyone except math geniuses
He's a smart guy and is very good with the material. unfortunately, his teaching method assumes that everyone else was born with the same knowledge. formulas aren't given on tests which makes them horrible! homework is tough and don't expect to do well unless you like teaching yourself. he rushes - maybe one example per chapter section :-/
Will not aanswer your emails when you need help or phone. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He is a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. His test's are horrible and never even pertaining to the notes. Basically have taught myself into getting my B. Even though I am solely an A student a majority of the time.
He is simply the best teacher! Always willing to help... If you put in the effort you will do great in his Stat class!
Professor Woods is nice guy. Hi is very smart and excellent mathematician. He teaches very fest and it is hard to follow him. Do not take this class unless you are confident that you can teach yourself the material. He gives a lot of home work and his tests are exact from the home work. Do not take Trig and Pre-calc together unless you are math gen
Professror Woodruff is honestly a very helpful professor and not hard. His tests are all questions from his notes and the textbook, like word for word. He is a very sweet guy and makes small jokes that he laughs about alone. He is highly recommended. And for those who say he is a horrible professor and don't recommend him are completely WRONG! :D
Very nice guy, you have to teach yourself a lot as with any math class. He does put additional study material on the website & gives you opportunity for extra credit. Most of the exam questions are straight out of the HW assignments.
Awesome teacher! Very helpful... even if your not great at math he makes it seem so easy! If you put in the effort and do the hw problems over and over, as well as review his in-class notes, you'll do great! =)
Professor Woodruff has got to be the smartest math professor I have ever had. This guy knows everything like the back of his hand. His teaching methods help you understand the material perfectly. His homework can be a bit much sometimes, but it is worth doing every bit of it. Always available for help. I would take him again 100%.
Hes a pretty cool guy. You do have to show up to class in order to understand the material and he does teach kinda fast. But hes nice and very smart. As long as you pay attention and study and do your hmwk you should pass.
Stats is a very hard class. He gives you notes that he types up himself and you can print out. ALL his test questions come from the homework and notes(he collects). Photocopy your homework.U get xtra credit if you write out the homework. If you don't have time, don't take this class. You HAVE to do the homework! He'll let you ask ?'s and help you!
Stats is very hard. If you don't have time, dont take this class. ALL his test questions come from the homework and notes, you have to do the homework. Photocopy your homework(he collects original). His notes you can print and follow along with class. Always willing to answer my questions. The tutoring center helps too! I worked my butt off for a B
Woodruff is probably the nicest prof at SPC, it also doesn't hurt that he's not bad to look at! Failed his class the first time, but retook it and passed with an A. You must put in the effort or you wont make it. Also, you MUST memorize a ton of forumlas!
I cant say enough good things about this teacher. Your tests are number for number the homework; he gives lots of EC in the HW so do it. Also he writes the final for all the MAC1105 at the TS campus. I wish I could take him again. More than helpful and willing to work with you before or after class. He truly loves his job and it shows.
Took his College Algebra class. Woodruff is an extremely helpful teacher and engaging to talk to. Mandatory homework (long, but easy), and he gives lots of partial credit for incorrect questions on quizzes. I highly recommend this teacher. He also plays videogames, if you're into that sort of thing.
Professor Woodruff was one of the best math teachers i ever had. I just finished my semester of his college algebra class and he is extremely helpful, there's extra credit available for every homework assignment, etc. If you go to class and do your homework, you're fine. He'll even stay after if you need extra help. Would without a doubt take again
Great Teacher! Very involved, even with online course. Gives partial credit and allows you to make up work (within a time frame).
Never again will i take or recommend this professor. First off i am horrible at math but this class was awful for most everyone in it. Although he is a very nice and funny guy his teaching is awful he usually spends the entire class period doing one problem and expects us to answer five of them on the test. His test are completely different.
Worst math teacher in the school. His tests are extremely difficult. He takes the questions from the textbook, so if you forgot the answer your screwed or you know how to work the answer well. He can't teach, his monotone lulls you to sleep. His grading of tests suck. He grades unfairly for partial credit His homework is bad, differes from the work
His test are beyond ridiculous! He assigns tons of work and puts you to sleep. He will not reschedule any test for any reason. If you are having difficulty with the class, he is not willing to help you. Absolutely the WORST teacher!
had him for coll alg. liked his teaching style and knew how he tested and graded. Now in trig, he's been so uncaring and detached. Unavailable, rushes in late and leaves early. Speeds thru lesson. depended on tutors 100%. good for low level math/ sux at higher levels. Its just a job and a paycheck to him. you'll get jipped w/him! killed my gpa
Spends more time joking with students than actually teaching the material.
Took him for college algebra my first semester and I made the mistake of taking him for trig. It's as if he was a completely different teacher than the one I had my previous semester. Be ready to dedicate at least 3 hours of your time for his homework assignments which he piles up on top of each other before each test.
Mr Woodruff was extremely nice! We had 5 exams, 5 quizes + the final! The exams and the quizes are not hard as long as you do the homework and go over the problems from class. I recommend going to every class, because if you miss anything it just gets more complicated later. He always let us go early and was always there if we had any questions!
He was a horrible teacher. He would come in everyday and tell us he was too hungover to teach and just put the notes up on the board for us to copy.
Overall he is a pretty good teacher and he makes the class interesting. You must pay attention or you will get behind very fast. Homework is manditory but you can easily get 1 point EC every time. Do not talk or text during class or he will call you out.
He's boring, and talks to you like you're stupid. Tests are not multiple choice. Can earn extra credit on each homework assignment, but homework is mandatory.
This is the ONLY professor I have ever met that listened to my concerns and responded with helpful answers. Most teachers could careless but he actually wants to help and see you succeed. It's not his job to put on a show for the class but to teach what you need to learn and help however he can. For that, he is the best teacher out there!
This is the ONLY professor I have ever had that really listened to my questions/concerns and responded back promptly with helpful answers. He really does want you to succeed. If you do the work and talk to him when you need help there should not be a problem.
Very nice. This is my first time taking an online college class and if I have any issues he will e-mail me back within the hour with a helpful answer. With homeworks you can resubmit an unlimited amount of times which is great! Thanks Professor Woodruff!
This instructor is the worst I've ever had. He always make mistakes and doesn't realize them till the students tell him. He says the tests are gonna be from the notes and he keeps saying that but he never take anything from the notes. Really doesn't know what he's doing, he's a nice guy to have beer with but not teaching math.
this class was completely on mymathlab except for the midterm and final (both had to be proctored). i thought each week was a fairly light workload, not too bad. i never had to email him about any questions so i have nothing bad to say about my experience with him. great online math teacher. only needed an access code, no textbook
Woodruff is a great professor. Don't listen to (lazy) naysayer comments. He doesn't just teach you to memorize the formulas/equations; he wants you to understand why and how they work. Expect to do work outside of class (duh). He's lenient with partial credit. Take detailed notes and study them along with the homework problems and you will get an A
The workload wasn't too bad but he never responds to emails! I would have to email several times before getting a response. This was annoying because I took the class online and I needed answers. I would recommend taking someone else if you have the option.
I was very disappointed with this teacher. I felt like I learned nothing from him. He's nice sure, but he speeds through the topics. Although I went to class every time, I couldn't follow him. He expects you to teach yourself! Highest grades were 60's and I am a 4.0 student! If math isn't your strong point skip this teacher! I don't recommend.
He is a very god pre calc teacher I have heard that he is not a good trig teacher though. He loves when any question is asked and he loves to answer them! I am going to take him for calc 1 next semester
He is a very good precalculus teacher and I heard he is not a good trigonometry teacher. loves when any question is asked and loves to answer them! I am going to take him for calculus 1 next semester
very good precalculus teacher not a good trig teacher. loves when any question is asked and loves to answer them! I am going to take him for calculus 1 next semester
He seems like a nice guy . Doesn't understand how difficult math is to others who hate math. Starts off with multiple choice then leaves you with all blank questions by the third test. If you're looking for someone a little more 'easy' hes not the guy to take unless this is your only class and you can devote all your time. I guess hes ok to look at
He knows the material very well but I think he is too smart to teach Intermediate Algebra. There are 5 quizzes (5 multiple choice), 5 tests (you have to show the work, but will give partial credit just for trying) and the Final(said it is 30 multiple choice questions). You wont be able to skate by in his class. But if you try, you can get an A.
Really laid back and nice guy. Instruction wise, he moved a little too fast for me. Quizzes and tests were rather difficult.
Good teacher, wants you to pass the class. Will help you if you don't understand the homework. Funny and laid back, nice guy!
Assignments are very clear, not a heavy work load, and you have the option to work ahead. He is very understanding, easy going, and laid back. He is firm. I love math, but math courses at other institutions wasn't working for me. I should have been transferred, and took his class. Great online class. AWESOME PROFF HANDS DOWN!
Woodruff is a nice man, however he is too smart to teach intermediate alg. He rushes thru in class expects every1 to already know the material. Too difficult, knew id fail all my other classes if I stayed in his from the stress, so had to drop. Dont recommend if ur looking for a teacher to teach. Lots of homework. Minimal examples in class..
very good professor, very smart, and kind, but the class is very hard, lots of material to cover in one semester. he is very helpful with questions, and will stop to answer any questions, but the class pace is very fast, lots of homework but lots of extra credits too. Need to read ahead to understand the class.
He is a good professor. I recommend him to any students who struggle in math or students who are excited to learn more about the subject. The subject taught was pre-calculus and trigonometry... two difficult subjects combined. I do not recommend taking this unless you excel highly in math. He does a good job explaining but may not click for many.
At first I thought this would be a really difficult class, especially since it's Trig and Pre-Calc combined, but if you're a fast learner and you like Math, take this class. It would help you a lot if you had a little Trig and Pre-Calc knowledge beforehand. Mr. Woodruff teaches fast at times, but he would gladly explain everything in great details.
I have him for remedial Math (2nd semester term). It's online and in a program. However, he has the syllabus clear. Do the work & you get an A. He gives practice exams, graded before the midterm and final. I haven't had math questions but anything else I've sent him he responded immediately. I'm taking him for Inter. Alg. next term!
Awesome professor. Statistics isn't fun but his personality makes the class enjoyable. He does what he can to help his students pass this class. He was pretty much always available when you needed help on something either in his office or the learning center. He also gives extra credit through various tasks for students to help you.
Prof. Woodruff is one of the best math instructors I've had. He makes the class fun and engaging by relating new material to things you already know. Tries to teach students tricks and shortcuts that help. You have to study to pass, but he gives practice tests on MML that exactly correspond with the test questions. Would take him again!!!
He's a really nice guy and definitely cares about his students but I hated the way he taught. He likes to go into the theory behind why a certain thing works the way it does. I learn best through practice and experience, so this isn't helpful at all. Because of this I have trouble solving problems that vary from the few examples he gives us.
Really super nicest and down-to-earth guy, but speaks very fast. We would have to rush at the end during the hardest portion of the section. Math Connect sucks and has different types of problems than the tests do. I also much prefer lectures that correspond to books, in math, than the online homework the school seems to be moving towards!
Professor Woodruff is a good teacher and fun, but math isn't my stong suit. I didn't always undestand his explanations. Tests were pretty difficult.
Professor Woodruff is very knowledgeable on the subject, almost to a fault. He races through notes and if you lose focus for a minute you'll be totally lost. I couldn't learn this way, but luckily he has study guides and notes posted, plus online math homework that walks you through the problems. His class is tough, but you can study through it.
Professor Woodruff is an amazing professor! Math is my weakest subject and the way he approaches it makes it less scary. He cares about his students and wants to see you succeed and recognizes that math is difficult for some people. I am taking him for college alg next semester.
Prof. Woodruff is hilarious and adorable. Unfortunately, statistics is a course where you either completely understand or completely don't. Woodruff is willing to meet anyone to help and discuss your grades or anything. Amazing professor, tough course.
Woodruff is great, he has a real love for stats and gets so into it its really easy to tell its his passion. I'm horrible legit HORRIBLE at math and I passed with an A!!! His test are identical to his notes and study guides DO THE STUDY GUIDES and you MUST PRINT OUT HIS NOTES and follow along in class or you will NOT pass. Never opened textbook.
Expect a minimum of three "coffee-based" mistakes!! Explains theory behind formula but not how to use it.....
I could sum this up as " if your a stats major he is the one for you" if you are not and not good with math and memorization of formula steps then he is not the one for you. Too much topics to cover in between test and quizzes. Great class. you get the awe of inspiration from him when he teaches because of his passion then... its time to study.
The class is too fast-paced for the amount of content in the course. It is a very difficult class. The grading is very tough and your grade is mainly weighted on your test scores. It moves so fast that you don't really get a good chance to understand anything.
Online MML. Assignments, quizzes, tests the proctored mid and final. Lots of work
Took his class online as a first-time duel credit student. Online was a better teacher than most of my middle and high school teachers. Was over all pretty good.
I am in the class now and I was really hesitant due to all of the reviews given. Being in the class now and getting through 2 of the exams, I can easily say he is my favorite math teacher. He is SUPER helpful. If you do the homework and write down how you did it to look back (which isn't hard) and do the study guide, you're fine.
I took Woodruff for Statistics, and intermediate algebra, and let me tell you, he is one of a kind! He has multiple opportunities for extra credit, and is very lenient on partial credit! He explains material very well and in depth, and is willing to help if you have questions. He is by far one of my favorite professors at SPC!
I'm horrible at math but he didn't make learning it much easier. If you need help he will always help you, however, the lectures are hard to follow, fast paced, and he makes the concept way more difficult than he has to be. I don't think he's a bad teacher, I just think hes too smart to be teaching intermediate algebra.
I found Professor Woodruff to be very quick at responding to emails. Also, the notes perfectly explained how to go through the homework, quizzes, and tests. Highly recommend!
He is a good professor. I took trig, attendance is not mandatory, but it's hard to pass if you miss class.
I took one of his statistics courses. He was very supportive and caring. He wouldn't bother if you have questions about your homework or the lessons. He is very patient with students, he would give precise explanations and also plenty of examples so you can get the image. He also gives extra credit for homework journal and LSC hours.
It was not easy but it definitely wasn't hard either! If you do your homework and do well on the quizzes you will be just fine! You don't really need a textbook, the lecture is pretty clear and if you have questions he will always be there to assists you! He is a really nice person and he can be funny too!
Professor Woodruff is an amazing professor and is very graceful when it comes to grades. If you are taking Trig I suggest trying to get him as your professor.
He is a great teacher (kinda fast) but very nice and does his best with the subject (stats) which is VERY difficult. He tells you exactly what is expected of you and the tests look exactly like the notes. Do the homework. its a lot but it helps. The best part is that he gives a lot of extra credit. He knows the class is hard, take advantage of it
rude. came to class sick for first 6 weeks, coughed throughout and expected students to learn. rushed through material without giving any chance for questions
I took this class online. Statistics is not my favorite class, but it is doable. However, I found that he was difficult to get in touch with and did not answer my questions or concerns. His final review online did not show which questions I got wrong and I found that frustrating. How am I supposed to know where to improve?
Would not recommend him for online. Hes VERY slow at responding to emails, or sometimes doesnt respond at all. Stats is certainly doable online, but it requires (like most online math classes) a professor that can respond in a timely manner if you have questions or if an issue arises. Assignments due in 3 week periods, didnt grade homework
I would absolutely take this professor again. If you do the homework and study the reviews he provides, this class is not that complicated. He gives ample extra credit opportunities. I took this in the summer which is intense. I run an organization and have two kids and still got an A. Study his notes, do the homework and you'll be fine.
He's a good teach and will help you if you need help. His class both online and in class. Most of the work is online and class is for going over the lesson quickly, working on homework, and asking questions. You'll have 4 question quizzes every class but taken from the homework. Class is easy if you do your work.
Statistics by far the hardest class I've ever taken. I'm horrible at math so I had to work for this one. He does give out extra credit which helps out tremendously. He knows his stuff too and is willing to stay after to help you if you need it. I would definitely take a class of his again but thank god I'm done with statistics.
Absolutely look taking this class, he is an awesome teacher, you can literally finish all your work in class and not worry about doing homework. You dont need the text book but if your not to proficient in math it may help you, but he goes step by step on how to slove the problems. When lecture is over and you are working on your work hell help.
He is the sweetest teacher ever. I HATE math but he helped me through it in such a kind manner. He would pause his lectures if anyone didn't understand and he would help them. He does everything in his power to get you to pass, he wants you to succeed. I wish he taught other math classes so I could take him again.
I would skip him for statistics, the class is just a little bit too difficult for an intro to statistics class. I think he would be fine for other math courses like algebra and trig, but he just really over complicated his lectures for stats. Nice guy and is always available for help, I just think theres better options out there.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. He is basically there just to say useless information to you that doesn't work with the online program. I had to teach myself everything for this course. The fact that he says this program that we use is really good is just sad. He is just lazy because any good professor would know that it isn't.
I'm awful @ math so I put off taking this class, but turned out great! Provides notes for each chptr and PDF versions of each test (Study!). You get 2 attempts on the test (can review) and the lowest overall is dropped. Quizzes are 1 attempt & short. Proctored Midterm and Final - do the review for these multiple times. Got an A! Ti-83/4 Calculator.
Mr. Woodruff is a really good teacher. Statistics was a difficult class but taking it with him made it better because he makes things as simple as he possibly can. You must be prepared to study! Your best assest in this class is to study the lecture notes he provides online. If you know the notes and can answer those questions you will pass.
I enjoyed the class. He is very easy to reach and eager to help students. Some material was challenging but he tried his hardest to ensure students grasped the ideas. I will say that he gives A LOT of homework. In addition to this, he is super smart but sometimes that made it tricky for people who didn't get things right away but overall a good guy
The hardest class I have ever taken. You got 3 (one is taken off) test & 3 (another taken off) quizzes to make your shot BC HW is nothing. I had to drop BC I was def not gonna pass w/ the coronavirus canceling school on campus & he didn't change the level of hardness on the class either. He then change how to study for the class HALFWAY. good luck.
Hard class to follow. I was doing good until classes went online bc of the corona virus. Basically left us to fend for ourselves when SPC closed. No help at all.
I would highly recommend you dont choose this professor unless he is your last resort. He is very slow to respond to emails, speeds through the material too quickly to take goods notes, has a habit of giving inaccurate info, very unforgiving about life circumstances that cause late assignments, and takes forever to get to the point in his lectures
Professor Woodruff explained all concepts very clearly and made an easy class even easier. Moderately homework heavy but can easily get ahead on it. Quizzes every class which cover homework questions (which he tells us before hand to study). Highly recommend taking this class blended, allowed me to get way ahead and focus on other work.
Professor really cares about his students and teaching, you can tell. I took his class online with live lectures. Broke down concepts to make them understandable. He doesn't just rely on the software to "teach" like I've experienced with other math professors. The course itself was pretty straightforward in terms of grading/structure.
Professor Woodruff is actually really nice. He actually want the best for all his students. I had him for lecture and lab for college algebra. I like math so that why I pass the class so easily. Just so the assignment on time and it will be an easy A.
I was dreading this class but it ended up being super interesting. Statistics is in our everyday life. He explains everything in detail. Drops a test and drops a quiz grade. Study the reviews backwards and forwards because it is just like the exams. I was traveling and was able to change test to earlier time for me. He replied to my emails quickly.
Super helpful! Lots of assignments but thats not on the professor. However, you have to pass the reviews for tests and quizzes before the test or quiz before you can unlock the quiz or test.
If you're looking to take this professor, it would be beneficial to have the knowledge and skills for the topics he covers in the class ahead of time. His teaching style wasn't involved enough for my needs. He sped through the topics during lectures and did practice problems to teach. Not a bad professor but isn't the best option for all students.
Professor Woodruff was a pretty good teacher. I mainly used the homework and bonus/test reviews located on MML and Webassign to learn the course. He gives fantastic test reviews that are pretty much what's on the test, it helps get you really prepared to take one. LIVE ONLINE format was not a problem for this class.
Read the textbook before class, he doesn't go over the material but goes through practice problems that help. Uses Aleks mainly for course work. Start your Pies early or else you'll find yourself overwhelmed. Stay organized and plan ahead and you should be fine. 4 tests and a final are honorlocked. Do the practice tests,it covers all test material
Very nice professor who made stats easy to understand. That being said, I highly recommend repeatedly doing the test reviews because it's practically what will be on the tests. Uses the textbook as a guide but mainly uses his own notes to teach, which was easier to follow. If you had any questions he would take the time after class to answer them.
Took his class online, clearly a professor who is not fit to be teaching online. Incredibly inflexible and unforgiving, citing even circumstances out of someone control are invalid reasons to turn in assignments late. Provided nearly no value to the class itself, just giving a subpar guide alongside the program we had to use
He scheduled midterms on the week of spring break..he does not post modules for the online class. He uses outdated videos from the online course. You are pretty much teaching yourself everything and paying for access to pearson because all the points for the course are through Pearson. This is a poor excuse of an online class and professor.
I felt like he was a good professor. He used lots of practice problems in class and provided lots of resources to practice. My only issue was he did not answer emails hardly ever. Other than that, good professor.
Highly suggest that you do NOT take an online math class. You will spend hours and hours doing pointless busy work to get 2 points!!!! You have to teach yourself and the online course load is insane Please do not take this online math class unless you want to feel like your soul is being drained with busy pointless work.
I took stats before and had to drop it but prof woodruff made it much easier. Make sure to study the reviews before tests they are pretty much the same as the test.
He would often take a while to get to the point while making a simple concept confusing when the book provided a clear and concise explanation. Test questions are pulled from test review with slightly different numbers, and a decent amount of extra credit is given for just doing the test reviews. Read the book and ask questions during class.
Do not take him
Took him for calc live online class at 8 am over a summer semester so I expected to struggle bc this was the second time I took Calc but instead I got an A. He double checks if everyone is understanding, he gives homework for a grade and is open to questions and the review is just like the test. Just study hard dont fall behind and you'll be fine.
Avoid this professor at all costs. He is almost impossible to reach by e-mail, his lectures do not reflect the homework and tests, and he will change due dates without notice. The only good thing is that his Test Reviews reflect the Tests. He also falsely claimed we were cheating Honorlock and left before we could appeal. I repeat, do not take him!
He was a great professor! The course was mostly on the computer, but I took it in person. If you're going to pass the class, just study the reviews for the test. It is an exact replica of what you will see on the test.
Prof. Woodruff was awesome at responding to emails! The setup for MyLab was different than other math classes with only certain sections of the study plan needing done for tests. There are a few proctored tests besides the midterm and final. The only negative was DESMOS was used for tests rather than your own calculator. Pretty easy class though!
Professor Woodruff makes stats manageable. Focus on practice tests - they're nearly identical to exams. Supplement with unstuck AI for efficient test prep. Engaging lectures, reasonable workload.
His voice is very soothing and his teaching method follows mainly consists of working out problems. All lectures were recorded and provided online for review. Homework mainly focused on Mastering the topic, short but sweet. The tests are very similar to the reviews in terms of type of problem. Enjoyable class.
Firstly he has many many prerequisites for both quizes and tests which are excrutiatingly time consuming. You will have to get a perfect 100 on them to be allowed to enter the quiz or exam, anything less you will be forced to re-do until its perfect. I emailed him with no response ever given. Very unhelpful, annoying class.
Professor uses mastery system you need 100% to be able to access the quiz would highly recommend going with another class until this system changes. If you do end up getting into this class good luck and a bit of advice you can cheese the mastery by answering only the first question and exiting.
Half the assignments marked as extra credit are required to even open the tests/exams and you have to get a perfect 100 on a random mastery quiz to even take the actual quiz.
He's a good lecturer and relates the topic to other things to make it even a little bit easier. He's open to answering any questions anyone has. The grading scale for this class is also very forgiving and if you put in the work outside class you should be able to pass.
I passed this course with over a 100%, as he has mandatory extra credit. He also moved some due dates so students can pass the class. However, I felt very alone. There was no contact from him, which might be because of it being online. He is not a bad professor and is very accommodating, but if you want hands on learning, don't choose him.
