can someone ratethis professor pleasse

Great Professor! Read the book and handouts before class, then pay attention and he makes it clearer. If you can't get an A it's your own fault.
Great professor. Really tries to explain the material. Textbook is useless. Buy the books that he recomends. They are much better. Project was fun. Exams were not hard at all. Gives sample exam.
:) One of the best professors at Baruch. Sometimes the accent is annoying and he acts crazy, but you'll learn a lot and the project is fun. Buy the Wooldridge text and it's an easy A.
Manzan is the man.Hard course but he's definitely the best eco4000 teacher. He explains things very well. Real nice guy and mad funny. Take him if you can.
Quite possibly one of the worst professors at Baruch. He is rude and unprofessional. Take someone else if you can. I hear Barry Ma is good.
ECO4000 is the hardest course youll take in Baruch undergrad. That being said, Manzan is probably the best teacher for this course. He curves generously but you gotta do your work and keep up. Prof is one of the nicest guys out there and hes hilarious...unless ur uptight and cant take a joke.I definitely recommend but u HAVE to study to do well
This class is very difficult at the honors level, and requires you to put in a lot of work. He could have been a bit clearer though, a lot of things were confusing.
he's no good. take someone else. he doesn't care about his students one bit.
This Prof is no jerk he is one of the best i think he is the only best prof for ECO4000. Whoever said he is a jerk i think they are lazy and they want spoon feeding which he does not do. Do your homework which are 25% to the final grade. Homework are not too hard. Do your homework it is the best practice for exams. HW is done on program GRETL.EASY
Liked his teaching style. takes the time to explain. knows his material.would recommend him!
He assumes that you know everything. Homeworks are very confusing. He is very disrespectful, and he has silly jokes. Please, take someone else.
This professor is great-one of the best @ Baruch. I almost transferred out of his class based on the ratings below but I'm glad I didn't. ECO4000 is prob the hardest class one can take in undergrad and he is extremely clear, helpful, and funny. I don't know why there are such bad ratings, prob because these losers can't handle an upper division...
Manzan Your the man! Deserves a raise! :p
GREAT TEACHER!!! You have to actually do your work in this class, but he makes it fun and worth the while. You dont need to do much. I'd recommend forming a very small study group and doing the homeworks, which are an easy way to get 25points added to your final grade. Pay attention and ask questions and it isnt that hard. He is wonderful.
He is a great instructor who can use all means to make difficult topics clear. The course is intellecturally challanging. He is very helpful. If you really pay attention in class, you will walk away with powerful regression skills that will benefit your financial career.
It was a very interesting class."Professor" (a tiny inside joke if u reading this, "Professor") tries his best to make things clear.Extremely helpful in person. Lenient on the homework, tests are fair.Very funny guy.Be aware though, eco4000 is a fairly challenging subject.
Awesome professor! Very hard subject material but he is great at breaking difficult problems down. Plus he's hilarious! Recommended!!
Amazing dude, makes the class extremely easy to understand. Constantly goes over materials and is always willing to help in his office. Definitely not a "TJ" lol!! as long as you do all the problem sets, exercises and sample exams you'll do great. this guy definitely deserves a raise !
It's your boy, McOne. I can't believe this guy has no reviews for Fall 2010. Anyway, I got a B+ in Eco 4000 and an A- in 4051. I failed to avenge myself in 4051, but I almost brought it, but this dude is hilarious. He's a true G that doens't live a hip-hop lifestyle. Disregard the sample midterm and finals, and understand the slides for success.
Manzan is one of the VERY few professor who actually cares about the student's learning experience. Very helpful and easy to approach. I agree with the other poster.. make sure u know the slides, if you master his slides, not only will you get an A, you'll actually learn a lot.
This class is not easy but extremely useful and practical. I particularly like his problem sets which uses real world data. Prof. Manzan is very interesting as well, no boring lectures at all. Make sure you pay attention to the assignments, coz exams are very similar to those problems. 1 midterm and 1 final with reviews, 3-4 problem sets.
Difficult material but awesome professor. How often can you say that? I wasn't the top student, but I am very happy with this class. I learned a lot and was able to apply it to the real world with real data in hwk assignments. Prepare to study: if you have a good STRONG Eco 4000 background, you'll be fine. Reminded me why I majored in econ! :)
FUNNY GUY, THE TESTS ARE OK UNLESS YOU REALLY STUDY ON THE MATERIALS AND MASTER THE SAMPLE EXAMS
This was a great class. The work is hard, but he prepares you well and will help you understand if asked. I recommend his class.
Professor Manzan comes highly recommended. He teaches both Eco 4000 and Eco 4051, which is a recent addition to the Economics/Finance curriculum that challenges students with real world experiments. Manzan is a laid back professor, but can be serious when need be. Homework and exams are a breeze if you are interested and pay attention in the class.
once you take him, you start wishing that all your other professors are just like him. he cares about his students. the class is hard but he makes sure you understand the material. plus hes very good at explaining. he tries his best to make the hard class easy to understand. this is how professors should be. im glad i took him. you WILL learn.
You will see a lot of comments about professors that say "this is the best prof. in the school". Sebastiano Manzan is one of the best professors. In any school. Take him if you can. I had him for ECO 4000 & 4051, he is the best there is, in any school, in any subject.
The person who would say a single bad word about him hasn't been born yet.Anyone who dares question his awesomeness as a human & a professor needs to be put on trial. He makes an exceptionally difficult subject understandable & on top of that he is hilarious.I wish he taught more fin classes.Heck, I'd take him for Biblical Studies too. Amazing dude.
He's awesome!
If you want to do good in his exams go to his office. You will learn a lot.
He is definitely awesome. Very smart and very clear professor. You will enjoy the class and might even like the course because he knows how to teach. Also, right material to learn - you will use real world data.
simply put, he's the Man!
Manzan is ok, funny and willing to answer questions however that doesn't make him a great professor. Seems to me that still lacks some serious experience. He spends too much time on a topic, then he rush up other topics just to includes the latest on test, brutal. Also, HW has nothing to little to do with test. The book? worthless.
Nice guy but he can be rude. He randomly calls on students with his roster sheet and if you aren't there, he marks you absent. he isn't clear about grading at all. the exam has topics we barely discussed and he'll make it extra hard. he doesn't explain well in class and rushes through chapters. Nice man but very difficult and not worth it!my gap :(
Don't take him!!!!!!! It will ruin your gap and you will be lost from the first class. he rushes through everything. he can be mean to students and his tests don't relate to his lectures at all! SAVE YOURSELF
Manzan is too funny, and that's is a problem bc he plays way too much. I don't know how any student hasn't feel insulted for Manzan jokes. He crosses the lines of respect in my opinion. Another thing is, he is very disorganized with grades, Hw's and notes. he makes a lot of mistakes on notes andor doesnt provides notes on time. not happy.
He's a good teacher, but I'm dissapointed on Manzan. You're the one that went against school policy changing the final at your will to a week before the stated date, I didn't. To take a childish attitude by ignoring that student, and responding in monosyllables bc he saw the dean .. he knows better. Recognize your mistake. Treat others with respect
ECO 4051 is the most useful class at Baruch I ever took, since you work with real world data and work with the software widely used in finance. It is much easier class than ECO 4000, just basic statistics understanding is required. Make sure to read his notes and do homeworks ( which are in detail explained in notes), and you will get an A.
This guy is funny as hell, he loves to call on and pick on people. The class itself is difficult material. If you did not do well in Eco4000 or do not clearly understand what was going on in Eco4000 yet somehow passed do NOT take this class. 7 Assignments, 2 Exams, 1 Ten page group project. Hes not a lenient grader, we find something wrong.
Taking him right now. He's a funny guy but he completely changed his grading policy. If you want to have a couple hours worth of hw for every lecture as well as reading assignments from the textbook that he does pop quizs on, this is your class. This class has been taking up the bulk of my work.
Funny guy but lots of hard work. Idk why he would change his class up... Not worth the work, you will learn but other grades will suffer because of it
He IS a funny guy. Cracks me up all the time. However it is the hardest class I've ever taken- but might be just ECO 4000 itself. Get ready to study a lot, read the book, do a lot of homework. Tests are incredibly difficult (nothing like sample tests or homework). His slides are not as clear as they could be. Book is pretty difficult to read.
Great professor with truly good intentions. Balances seriousness with positive vibes, a lot of energy, and humor. Just make a real effort and pay attention in class (which is pretty easy to do once you hear that accent...)
One of the best professors at Baruch. He really cares for his students to do well. Very funny and kind. Yes, there is homework that you need to submit on time, but there isn't anything extra difficult about it. I feel like everyone who complains shouldn't have gone to business school in general.
I was a straight A student until this class. It was immensely difficult and the homework was too much.
Professor Manzan is a really good option to take Eco4000. There is a lot of hw, indeed, but it is not that difficult to do and it helps you out with the final grade. Incredibly, his excel exams are pretty useful. He is always available for you, either by email or in person. His exams are quite easy, and it's impossible to fall sleep in his class.
He is very helpful throughout the semester; always willing to help you out as much as he can. The exams aren't difficult, just try to understand the material instead of trying to memorize the practice. HW is extremely helpful. You will laugh and enjoy his class a lot. The final is not cumulative, although he says so.
This class is by far the hardest thing ever. Beware. Work is unbearable
I always thought that I'd never be able to understand Statistics, but thanks to Pr Manzan I started to LOVE it. If you are finance major, this class is mandatory and you might as well learn something. One thing is straight: you want to learn-you will, don't know something-ask! No one ever explained complicated concept better than him
Hands down one of the best at Baruch. Hes a true teacher, interested in making sure you grasp concepts. He is also just a fun guy! If you actually care about your education--and aren't just looking for a handout like the others who are complaining about their grades--take him. I am taking him again this spring.
He is such a funny guy and always remembers every student's names. You can tell this guy is passionate about econometrics and actually making sure you understand what's going on in class. People who complain about material or his teaching are simply looking for an easy pass, not an education
One of the best professors at Baruch College. He is knowledgeable, tries hard to make student understand the materials. I wish all professors were like him.
My favorite professor ever ! He tries very hard to make super difficult stuff sound like fun and easy material. He knows every student by name and really cares about each of us. Always responds to emails and also is available at his office. I wish there were more professsors like him. Very lucky to have him at Baruch
Class gets easier over time. Exams are not multiple choice. This works in your favor. Grading criteria was great, makes it hard to fail the class as long as you do the work. Ask lots of questions, DO NOT SLACK OFF GET ALL THE POINTS YOU CAN BEFORE THE EXAMS. Textbook was the worst I've ever read so brush up on probability especially before exam 1.
Take him! Yes his class is by far the most challenging in Baruch, but I love it and I believe you will. Textbook is the worst I've ever seen. 2 midterm 1 final. Expected insufficient time to finish. I don't know my grade yet but I still highly recommend!
4051 is a baby version of MATH 4125, Stochastic Processes, without all the math involved, therefore excellent class for people with Finance and/or Economics majors. Good source to learn R as well.
Hands down best professor I've ever taken. 100% accessible outside of the classroom. Takes the driest of topics and makes them interesting. If you don't understand something, just ask. Slides are your best friend. He's more than happy to explain himself more than once. He's so knowledgable in what he teaches and he cares about his students.
*updating my review* Not gonna lie, this course is hard. But Prof Manzan explains the material so well. Hes actually not a bad guy at all. He was very helpful and responsive to emails. Hes really hilarious during lectures and reviews too. I heavily enjoyed the class and the material.
HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN. HIS ONLY GOAL WAS TO MAKE EVERYONE FAIL. DO NOT TAKE HIM. BB exam almost every 2 weeks. Hws every week (timed). Hardest class ever, most horrendous professor ever.
So much work. It seems as if when the semester progressed, he cared less about the class by providing half assed lectures and no practice for the weekly tests. Dont get me started on the midterms, which are really hard since he vaguely described whats going to be in them. Personality wise, hes really impatient and aggressive.
Run for your life. - I just don't get professors whose main goal in life is to fail students. If you don't care about students' learning, but rather just trying to make tests as hard as possible to raise your standard, please reevaluate why you became a professor and try to let go of the need to be the toughest. Ruining GPAs is NOT A HOBBY.
I've never taken a class like this that makes me want to end it all. It was a decent start, however, the blackboard tests get harder the homeworks become overwhelming and the midterms are soul-crushing. For some reason every assignment needs to be timed and the prof adds an individual presentation that is worth more than it should be. PLEASE AVOID
I have never seen such a bad professor in my life. His BB tests are all with Excel questions and formulas and all of them are timed. He never gives us any practice. we have to figure out everything on our own. It is insane how he tests us about things that he never taught us. his exam are extremely hard. AVOID HIM!
Think he would be better in person instead of fully online. Lots of work and confusing bc midterms, tests, AND hw are completely different formats. he also did not give info about final project until end of november... very stressful workload. he lectures concepts, so he doesnt really show the types of problems that are assigned.
This class is my absolute worst nightmare. The midterms are absolutely ridiculous. The format is DESIGNED TO FAIL STUDENTS. I never have enough time to finish any of them, homework, Blackboard tests and ESPECIALLY midterms. His review sessions do NOT match with what he hits us with afterward with the midterms. Just do your GPA a favor and avoid.
Worst professor ever. He is a GPA killer. I believe this class would be easier if it wasnt online. He gives a lot of quizzes and none of them is based on what he teaches us. I would never take him again
Absolutely fantastic professor. He's great at what he does and it shows. I highly recommend him for ECO4000. His empathy during the COVID-19 pandemic is unmatched, and will work tirelessly to ensure all students are learning the content getting the grades they earn. Would definitely take his class again. Ciao!
I am writing this review to update my previous one (cant edit it). I had given this professor a terrible review after a very confusing midterm, but he ended up showing that he actually cares about his students. Online has been very challenging for everyone and this is NOT an easy class. You definitely have to put the work or you wont pass.
This is my last semester at Baruch. I wish i would've took ECO 4000 with a different professor his midterms are beyond difficult, the wording is designed to make us fail. The BB quizzes and HW do NOT prepare you for his tests. He's sarcastic and a little condescending at times when answering questions. DO NOT TAKE IT'S A GPA KILLER.
Just do yourself a favor and dont take this class.
Absolutely amazing, definitely recommend for a GPA boost. He will do everything he can to give you an A. don't know where the negative reviews come from. Barley any homework and tests are super easy highly recommend.
He is amazing and brilliant. Videos are extremely helpful for tackling the exams and there isnt much homework. You will always get a 100 on homeworks and he thrives everyday to make sure his students get the grade they desire. Easy A. Text book was rarely used. Just watch his videos. An A is very feasible and easy to get. Just watch the videos
If you're going to take this class, good luck. Every week there is a test on blackboard and MEL. They are alright, but the real challenge is the midterms. He purposely designed the midterms to be tricky and not representative of the content in his videos. This class will definitely tank your GPA so hard if you don't do your work and study.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Worst professor at Baruch, arrogant and lifeless. He will destroy your GPA with joy. If you have any care for your GPA at all or your mental health, DO NOT TAKE.
The structure is really easy to follow but this is a class where you will work a lot. There's a quiz every week on Pearson and sometimes an excel quiz as well. He has three exams if you attend the reviews and can do the excel quizzes you should pass. One final project, very easy and he grades quickly. Very responsive via email.
He is a good professor but not an easy A. There are a lot of assignments and you need to keep up (especially while its fully online). MyLab assignments every week, some BB tests, 3 exams, and a final project. If you have questions, he is very helpful. Overall - take his class if you are willing to put in the work for a good grade.
I previously thought he was too harsh but he ended up not being so bad and was lenient with the final exam and final project. This is really not a easy class but it does make you learn, which I actually appreciate. If you work hard and not slack, this class should be easy for you.
Be ready to scratch your brain. Any other professor, easy. A. He makes you work for it. I started horribly, ended strong. Yes, my GPA went down, but that's life. It's a hard class but after taking it, I definitely feel more confident in myself. His midterms are hard af & confusing. You will have to put in the effort. Avoid him if you plan to slack.
In the beginning, he was very condescending towards the class. But he has gotten more lenient towards the end of the semester. Overall a class where you really have to really work hard for an A. Weekly tests on blackboard and quizzes on MEL. Three midterms, though they are very tricky. One final project based on the LRM. Be sure to study well.
This class is tough. Be mentally prepared for the workload that is coming if you are going to take this class. A test and a quiz every week. About 25% of students dropped the class after the first two midterms, which were really tricky to say the least. However, the third midterm was much easier, and he was lenient on grading the final project.
The hardest class ever. His midterm test format was completely different than BB's homework and tests. I understand that the online class has been very challenging for everyone and this is NOT an easy class but still, if the professor makes homework and midterm formatting relatable then you will pass. Overall it was an overwhelming course.
Honestly, this was the easiest class I took this semester but I can see why people could find it difficult. Everything was organized very well. Just watch his video and take notes from them. I do agree that the hws and quizzes are not similar to his tests but if you understand the concept it should be fairly easy.
Hard class to begin with. He is very nice and understanding. Also you do everything on your own time whenever you want. If you know excel it would help you in this class.
the worst class and professor ever. you will get a good grade only if you are good at using excel. this class would have probably been much easier if it was in person. AVOID HIM!
Toughest class ever!
Dont take him you will not pass. Hes a mean guy doesnt care what you have to say
Dont take him take anyone else
Professor Manzan is very knowledgeable. He would always email me back quickly if I was confused or stuck on something. There's a quiz every week on Pearson (do the practice and you'll do fine) and sometimes an excel quiz as well. He has three exams if you attend the reviews and can do the excel quiz you should do great. Don't be afraid to email him
He is a tough professor, but in the end, it forces you to learn the material. The homework is not like the BB quizzes or exams. In the Exams and quizzes, you must run regression models and answer questions based on that. He means well, but you will have to work hard. Lenient on final project and answers emails quickly and helps if you reach out. :)
Prof. Manzan is amassingggggggg. His class is exciting and fun. The most crucial part is that you will learn the material well and "get a good grade" if you attend every class. I don't understand students who have any concerns about his teaching. When he is one of the highly intelligent professors ever!!! VG
HE IS THE BEST. he is very intelligent and interesting. the class material was hard but his explanation makes it easy. you will learn a lot in his class. attain his lecture, do the BB test and homework and you will get a good grade. lots of options to earn points. he is caring, helpful and respectful to the student. and he is fun.
don't take
Professor Manzan is very knowledgeable, and actively encourages students to participate in his lectures. If you like to get involved, you will enjoy his class. His style can be comical at times, which keeps the atmosphere light but fosters learning. Makes a considerably hard class understandable, and exams are reasonable. Would surely take again.
ECO 4000 is a tough class, but Manzan is one of the most entertaining professors out there. This class is challenging and Manzan wants you to succeed. Self-study is essential for the exams, but he uploads recorded lectures with step-by-step explanations to use.
HE'S AWESOME. Makes tough class easier and interesting. Uploads video lectures and ppts, so you can watch if you missed the class. Everything you need is there. He's funny, caring & kind, but you still have to study hard. Expect to dedicate ~4 hrs/week (sometimes more) to study. Stay after class, if you have questions. He's always there for you
One of the best professors i have ever had. Tough class and requires lots of studying but he tries very hard to make his class enjoyable. Take him! Also responds to emails quickly and makes the effort to learn everyone's name.
Difficult class for sure but he is the best professor. Real funny guy and makes the class really enjoyable. You work on a final project at the end that is pretty hard but he is lenient with the grading. Explains pretty well. Would take several classes with him
Overall great professor, very knowledgeable on the topics he teaches and is kind enough to repeat him self to explain a topic your confused about. Has a sense of humor and try to connects with the students. However i emphasize this PLEASEE!! Make sure to have prior knowledge of econometrics or have had a good grade for ECO 4000, not an easy class!!
He was funny, and sweet, and made the class enjoyable. If you would come to class just a little late, he would tease you in a good way and make a lot of jokes. He posts his slides on BB and appreciates your effort even if you may not understand it. He also grades exams fairly and gives you as much credit on them as possible.
I took him in person for ECO 4000 and he's a great professor. He makes lot of jokes during lectures and I really connected with his teaching style.
Difficult class but not impossible to do well. Study the Brightspace quizzes and the midterm sample exams with a light emphasis on slides and Pearson assignments and you'll be fine. Professor Manzan is quite funny and makes the lectures interesting. Highly recommend!
Great professor with great jokes. He does not allow any notes on his exams, but exams are similar to review. Quite a challenging class, but nothing that can't be done. If you want to talk out of class with some knowledge, take him. Highly recommend!
Professor Manzan is a wonderful professor, and makes his lectures interesting. You have to put in the work to learn the material, but he is very fair with grading, and very approachable.
It was a terrible decision to take his class based on the reviews. He tries to be funny, but tbh he's cringe. ECO4000 is a complicated course, and he doesn't help to make it any simpler. He's scattered everywhere. Honestly, he needs to take a course himself on how to teach properly. It was a disaster, and a GPA killer.
His exams are difficult and aren't same as the other professor's in the school which isn't fair. It was a mistake. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
ECO 4000 is a tough course with some confusing topics. Professor Manzan prepared us well with the practice midterms and Brightspace quizzes. He is also very generous with grading. Don't be scared to participate, it can help you understand the concepts better and teaches you what you got wrong.
Professor Manzan makes this tough course engaging. His lecture videos and slides are super helpful for studying. Using Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helped me prepare effectively. Expect to put in the work, but Manzan's teaching style makes it worthwhile.
old guy behind the course and rates himself on ratemyprofessor take a look at the comments
Not sure why manzan thinks calling students name wrong is funny. He is an average professor, who thinks very highly of himself. The is a difficult course but he makes it more complex. There are many other better professors in Baruch for this course. Save your grades and yourself from an unnecessary headache.
even if it delays your graduation, dont do it
Took him in Fall of 2024, was super funny in class. This was my most difficult Baruch course but he was very generous when it came to grading and made the experience better than it would've been with another professor. Probably my favorite professor at Baruch!
