She's the kind of person who does what she does because it's her passion. You won't just learn the concepts behind basic biology, but how it relates to reality, as well. She will teach you why it is so important to learn biology, even if it isn't your main area of study. Very solid teacher.

As long as you take good notes in class, read the textbook a little bit and study before tests you will be fine. This class was pretty straightforward in my opinion. If you are taking this class for general ed, I don't recommend unless you are interested in biology.

Shocked to see bad reviews as Professor Boaz was honestly amazing. Her exams may have been difficult but she offered so many extra credit opportunities, was beyond organized, genuinely cared about her students, and her lectures were honestly entertaining. You had to study outside of the class to pass but thats expected from any course.

Boaz was an awesome teacher. Her exams were hard but if you take good notes, do all hw and study you will pass. It was a challenging course but if you put in the effort she is a good teacher and will help you succeed. I am not good at science myself and got an A in the end.

Professor Boaz was an amazing teacher. Her lectures are easy to follow. Very helpful if you have any questions. She gives a lot of homework, but it is easy to complete. Do all the blue book questions: She uses them for short answers on her exams. Difficult class, easy to pass if complete hw, study concepts for exams. Plenty of extra credit.

Boaz is a great teacher. Its bio 30 I believe, not 31. Whatever the entry level bio is, this is what she teaches . Class is medium paced. Take notes and read the chapters. do the exam study guides as well as the lab practical guides. It helps trust me. Go to her office hours, she is so helpful!!!! Finished wth a 97%

If there are still available seats left in her class, drop everything you're doing and register! She is very supportive & wants you to succeed. You definitely have to earn your grade, but she definitely does not make it hard to understand the material, and she makes it fun! There are no surprises with her grading. I highly recommend her!

Prof. Boaz is amazing! I wish she taught more classes. You have to earn your grade, but it's fun along the way. She posts the upcoming lectures, so I recommend typing the notes before lecture, and then adding additional notes along the way. It really helps & you get to actually listen to her more :) She is very supportive & answers all Q's!

Professor Boaz is amazing! She is so enthusiastic and it really makes her lectures interesting. You can tell she really cares that her students actually learn. There aren't many homework assignments and you do have to study for tests. Overall, I'm so happy I took her class.

Hands down the best professor I've had for any class. She's super passionate about what she teaches and you can clearly tell with every lecture. Bio 30 isn't a walk in the park by any means but if you go to class and do the homework you'll do just fine. She wants her students to pass the class.

Difficult course, but as someone who never found science an easy subject to understand I found her lectures to be easy to follow and interesting, although fast-paced. She is very organized/has clear grading as well as opportunities for extra credit. Don't rely on the book, lecture notes are the ticket!

Mrs Boaz reminded me how much I love biology. Labs were engaging and a joy to complete. Tests aren't too bad and I never felt that the hw was hard. It's difficult to fall asleep in her class as she brings so much energy to the room.

I took her for Bio30. Science classes have always been fairly easy for me but I was a bit worried because it had been years since the last one. However, Prof made the class easy to follow along with and as long as you take notes in lecture and read the textbook you should be fine. The tests aren't difficult if you study for them.

She was one of my favorite professors. She made going to class fun. She did inform us about how hard we had to work if we wanted an A. The key to getting an A is to study for lab practicals & tests and to show up to labs and lecture. Once you miss one lecture, it is easy to fall behind. I wish I can take every science class with her!

Prof Boaz is like a really competent high school teacher. The course goes over a lot of material but she knows exactly what she wants her students to learn. She puts all handouts/HW/lectures online but you'd still have to pay attention when she lectures if you want to do more than pass. Lots of memorization if you want an A. Still a solid choice.

She's a great professor! Impossible to fall asleep in her class cause she brings so much energy and enthusiasm (My class is at 8:30am too). She knows everything she teaches really well. Biology courses take a lot of work so prep for it. I absolutely recommend her.

Her class is very energetic and there is absolutely no sleep available cuz she makes the class worth the time & energy, especially for those who have lectures at 9 with her. Great class.

Shes amazing. Knows her stuff and her class is full of energy. Tests can be tricky. No real study guides, just an outline of possible topics covered on the test. Helpful during lab and lots of extra credit. 3 exams and 1 final. 2 lab practicals and 11 homework assignments. Was a great class. Sad its over

Prof. Boaz is Awsome. I enjoyed her lectures, and she is very knowledgeable. You have to study and be active during lectures and labs. She is available after class and helps you with everything. Exams are difficult, but if you study on a daily basis and understand the lectures then you will be fine.

Professor Boaz was seriously one of the best professors I have ever had. Her class was difficult and she was a tough grader, but I learned so much from her, and even decided to change my major to zoology because of her class. If you plan on going into a biology field she definitely prepares you well for that as well as upper division courses.

Prof. Boaz was a great professor and was very accommodating to the global crisis we are going through right now. She is respectable but not too serious and gives a reasonable amount of work (Bio 30) There are however a lot of exams and she expects a lot of studying in order to pass them. Overall, I would recommend this class to non-slackers.

With COVID and everything we unfortunately couldn't do hands on labs, but she does everything possible so that you can learn the material. Put in the work and you will do fine!

This class will make you learn. You might complain about the amount of homework and weekly quizzes, but they're not actually a majority of your grade. They will prepare you for the exams which will count the most. Professor Boaz really tries to make the lectures interesting and cares about your progress.

Class take sup a lot of time but she seems really nice and helpful. She takes forever to grade but gives you multiple attempts to retry quizzes. Its really only 2 hw assignments and a lab per week so idk why everyone is complaining. Shes also super helpful with studying for tests, seriously just email her or go to office hours.

Yes this class requires a lot of work but Prof. Boaz is very clear on what she expects you to do to get an A. The tests were fairly easy but the lab practicals were extremely hard (ended up being curved). I was sick twice during the semester and she was very accommodating.

Boaz is a solid choice when it comes to the class. She is hard and its very easy to lose points on silly things. Her tests aren't super hard, but you have to pay a lot of attention to her lectures. The lab practicals are nearly impossible and nearly anything from lab is on it. She grades everything with a hawk's eye, and it can be anxiety causing.

Incredible teacher! The most fun and interesting course I've ever taken. Professor Boaz clearly puts tons of time into this class (and you will too haha). She showed us how to conduct a research project and taught us to write an academic research paper in an understandable way. If you want to become a biologist, this class is a must!

Boaz is a tough professor, I feel like she expects 110% from her students all the time and it gets really overwhelming. It's hard to get 100% on anything because she always nitpicks every assignment, every exam, and every lab write-up that you do. However her lectures are very engaging, and she's also extremely clear in rubrics

Prof Boaz is extremely passionate about biology, which is beneficial if you are too. This class is not easy content-wise, but she makes things better with memorization tools and meaningful assignments. She takes her job very seriously, and expects that you do too.

You can tell Professor Boaz loves to teach biology. She can be very particular about how she wants things done, but she is a good teacher. I didn't use the textbook much because we had so many lectures and they are very thorough. The lab practicals were not bad if you study for them and keep your binder organized.

She is a great professor. I learned a lot in class. She is very kind and enthusiastic. She grades harshly and requirements are unclear, but she does offer extra credit. She had multiple projects happening at the same time. Labs took longer than the lab period. Expect 10+ hours of homework/studying a week in addition to ~8 hours of lecture and lab.

She is one of the best lecturers at LPC. There is a lot of content, but she clearly explains the concepts' logic with examples. Labs are tedious, and they take the whole lab period to complete. There are two big field trips and lots of dissections. If you put in the work, this class is one of the best for STEM majors.

Bio 1B is a hard class in general, Professor Boaz is the best professor at LPC for Bio 1B. There are 6 projects ( 5 insects project, 1 huge ethology project). Good luck with lab practices. She will put anything on that. Lecture exams were not bad as long as you studied, But this class felt like 2 ( 5 unit classes in one).

Labs and lab practicals are rough, expect late nights and tears. Her lectures are really good and info heavy. This class preps you for 4 year uni and transfer like no other. She offers lots of extra credit but there is no curve. There's 3 lecture exams, 2 lab exams, 1 ethology project, 1 insect project w/ 5 parts, 2 field trips, 2 presentations.

I took Professor Boaz for Bio30 and she is amazing! She is really passionate about her work which in turn makes it easy to understand. She is good at lectures and is very interactive. Pay attention and keep up with both online and in person lectures and you will do good. She is always available to answer questions and help you. Take her!!!

You don't need the textbook, I didn't use it and did well. I regret buying it. Keep up with lectures and labs and stay on top of it. Come in to class understanding the online lectures. She is very passionate and makes sure everyone understands. Tests are MC and only 3 short answer, some vocab questions. Final is a mix of all 3 tests. Take her.

Most people would say that she is a tough grader and is stern, but I'd say that for the amount of content that is required in this class that ends up being required in higher level classes, its necessary. Not hard to pass, but hard to get an A in.

Favorite & most rewarding class so far. Engaging & informative lectures, very understanding and caring if you just show effort and interest and go to office hours. Very high expectations for students -- tough grading, labs took hours to complete, but it's solid and necessary foundation for anyone serious about the subject. Wants you to succeed.
