Good teacher, moves really quickly through the notes. tests aren't somewhat hard, gives a 100+ quesrion study guide to go with the tests
Really disorganized with her online notes, which can be confusing. Easy to get her off subject while she lectures. She's an easy grader and tests are easy if you can understand her way of thinking, but I dont' think I'd recommend her class to anyone.
Great professor, but goes through notes verty quickly and tests are somewhat difficult. Lots of all of the above on tests.
great lecturer, although quite fast. makes topics interesting. medium workload and medium hard tests. best class i had all semester.
This is an extemely interesting class, but Selika is extremely unorganized. Her tests are relatively easy. There are three mini-papers in the class which are graded EXTREMELY hard. I'm an English major and got low C's on all of the papers for some reason. Overall a good class.
This lady obviously knows her stuff, but she spoke many more words than what I can pay attention to. Lectures seemed so long
Her papers are graded easy if you write all the information she asks for. I am no good at papers and I got a 98 on one of them and a 74 on another. This class is very interesting if you like history. I loved it.I only went to class on test days the second half of the semester and still did well!
Very easy teacher, her exams she gives you a study guide for and picks questions directly off if it. Not much is expected, it's easy.
This class will worry you at first, because she goes over so much crap that isn't on the test. After a while, you'll see that there's study guides to every test, which helps a lot. She's unorganized + uses D2l a lot. The Participation Papers are a pain, too. Semi-worth the diversity credits.
Good lecturer, 210 is a relatively easy class too. Only complaints are that she was very unorganized and sometimes unclear on the expectations for assignments.
She's very open to helping anyone with any questions - however, she talks VERY fast and you take a LOT of notes in this class. It's very interesting, but you have to write fast!!
Really interesting and engaging, and I like her use of other media (like pictures and videos.) If you use the study guide you'll ace the test. Extremely unorganized, but fun anyway.
she grades things werid. i think she makes a lot of stuff up on the spot. she tries to seem more educated and intelligent than she really is
Kinda confusing, but very easy class. I thought this class was going to be incredibly boring but I actually look forward to going to her lectures. Make sure to do the study guide and you'll be fine.
I actually love going to this class everyday
great class, shes an intersting lady and makes you laugh. the tests are easy if you spend time on the study guides. the papers are a pain, but its easy to get a good grade in this class! take it!!!
Parts of the class are very interesting. It's hard to figure out what is expected at first. She can be very unorganized.
Very knowledgable about all kinds of topics. Gives you interesting facts that apply to everyday life and is very down to earth. Respects her students and is always willing to assist. The class is very interesting and could not do without all of the interesting things she gives you. The things she teaches you should know and the class is very useful
Great class, interesting lectures, easy tests if you follow study guides, just don't ever talk while she is talking...
WOW! I still haven't gotten a reply from any e-mail I sent to her. She is unorganized and unofficial. I don't know, see for yourself
Easiest class ever..I got 105% on the midterm without even trying..You DONT have to read any of the books for the class, just go and take notes. Gives a lot of extra credit.
Professor Ducksworth is easily the most intelligent person I have ever met in my life. Her knowledge of African American and military history is incredible. Her tests are fairly easy if you follow the study guide, she offers a lot of extra credit, and the lecture are very interesting. I definitly recomend this class!
Interesting professor. Really knows her stuff. Lectures move fast. take lots of notes. lots of assigned readings most of which you don't have to do. answer study guide questions because exam questions are taken directly from it. lots of extra credit. papers take some thought just answer all the questions and you'll do fine. highly recommended!!
An easy class that requires little work. You will hear "hint hint study guide" about 10,000 times each class period, that can get really frusterating. But otherwise, she's a good teacher. Very opionated, and strong willed.
Extremely unclear, very disorganized, basically you have to try to interpret what she is saying and figure out what she wants/expects. Takes four weeks to grade and return exam. If you like any kind of clarity in what is expected, avoid her.
This class should not be taught to a stadium full of people. Selika is interesting as a person, but not clear about what is her opinion and what is fact. The tests are fairly easy, but the class is so big it's hard to get involved in it too much. She also has like six other activities going on besides teaching, so she always seems distracted.
I found her African American History class very interesting and I had not found it very interesting before I took her class. The class itself wasn't too hard. By listening to her lectures you should be fine on the tests.
I read more on the exams for this class then I did outside of it. You don't have to attend class to do well. Do the study guides and you'll get an A. She puts the same questions on the test three or four times, very frustrating and idiotic. Take this class for an easy A and cultural diversity credits
In all honesty you don't have to come to class ever. All of her lectures are put on d2l. The few times that I did attend class her lectures were very interesting and it seemed like she knew what she was talking about. Just make sure you do the study guide before the exams and the class is an easy A
Wow. Here are some choice adjectives: sporadic, disorganized, unclear, easy, disorganized, disorganized.
I really thought this was the most interesting class I had. You don't really need to go to class but the lectures and videos are really interesting. I recommend this class, great experience and you learn a lot.
this class was completely unorganized. i was really looking forward to this class and was extremely disappointed. i would never ever suggest anyone take this class or probably any other taught by this professor. just take my advice and DO NOT take this course.
She is the most unorganized person I have ever met. I was looking forward to this class but she just ruined it. It was pointless to go to class. It was easy and could have been a lot of fun, but it was a little disapointing to say the least. I WOULD NOT take this class if I were you.
Great teacher, actually a story teller that compliments the readings for the course. You'll read a lot and you will watch quite a few movies. If you are into the topic, you will love the class.
Very easy class. I slept through all the movies and never paid attention in class and got an A. Just do the study guide and u will get over 100 on every test. Dont buy any of the books they are a waste of money and you never use them.
She can be difficult to take notes with. She is very passionate and knowledgeable with this material.
Great lecturer, however with papers, she is the most disorganized person I have ever met. She still has a giant box of "missing papers" outside her office on the seventh floor of Hibbard. Check it out, it looks like a seven year olds closet.
She is the most disorganized person! Avoid taking her at all costs! Her tests are impossible! Choose all of the above on most of them..
Ohhhh Ducksworth. Only the the class as a GE. She puts all her notes online, and the class is pretty easy...hint hint study guide quiestion...hint hint underline...hint hint final exam question
Take VERY good notes - if she says something more than once, obviously it's important! She also "hints" at what will be on finals, so it's not that hard to be prepared with the test material! I skimmed most of the readings, and listened attentively in class, and have gotten Bs and As on my papers and quizzes. She's a genius!
I really liked this class, I learned a lot and it made me think. Don't read the big textbook, but read all the articles and other books. She's pretty disorganized and doesn't always make it clear what you are supposed to look for in the readings, but she or her TA's will help you if you need it. Write fast for notes! She is anything but boring...
I enjoyed Dr. D's class for the most part. You better write fast for notes but her tests are not very hard once you get used to them. She likes all of the above answers very much. She does not always explain what she is looking for with stuff super clearly but her TA's will help a LOT. Dont read the big book just the articles and small books.
The class was interesting, and the professor was very helpful, but she was the MOST unorganized professor I've ever had. She changed the due dates of most assignments multiple times. The TA's grade all of your papers, and I got a D on one because my margins were too big. Give me a break. Answer 'all of the above' for mostly everything...
Very interesting class and she is extremely knowledgable. She gets annoying stopping videos in class, but other than that she is great.
Interesting class. Very knowledgeable. Take detailed notes, even if they're not on the powerpoint. Get used to hearing HINT HINT (although it helps a lot)
This was a fun class. I am not a history major and it was a lot of work but I really enjoyed it. There are some big papers and a presentation, but it is worth it. There are also real-life battling scenarios which were super fun. It is not a lecture class, it is a discussion. So do the readings. Duckswork is really helpful, but kinda unorganized.
Most unorganized professor I have ever had... tests often have the same question twice. Answer all of the above on everything. Not a hard class but not enjoyable either. If you like to hear the words "Hint hint study guide question" every day take her, otherwise I wouldn't recommend her
Most disorganized class in my life. Teaches class like it is 6 credits not 3. Tons upon tons of reading plus tests with repeat questions and off base of lecture. Says hint hint study guide fifty million times in class. Im getting an A but still wish I did not make the mistake of taking this class
SOOO UNORGANIZED. She is all over the place with lecture. One day she is talking about one time period then the next day we'll watch a modern day movie. LOTS of readings and papers but she does drop the lowest grades which is nice. Loves All of the above questions! She is just unorganized when you ask questions and she often just confuses you more.
Does not answer ANY e-mails. Completely unprofessional. Good luck if you need help or advice. Very knowledgeable, but EXTREMELY unorganized.
her disorganization directly affects grades.has many teaching assistants that grade your papers,so grading is subjective and unequal.laughed at a student who asked a question on the final.many cancelled classes---emailed the notes she didnt get to to the classes because they would be on the final.interesting class/great lecturer, but not recommended
Ducksworth is awesome. Keeps class interesting and tests are super easy if you go to class.
She is an outstanding lecturer. If you have any interest in world history at all, you'll enjoy going to class. As many people have said, she is very unorganized, but I don't think that it impacts one's ability to get a good grade in her class. Her quizzes and tests are very easy. Requires two papers, but they're also pretty easy. Take her.
Very interesting professor! She lectures the whole hour but you dont actually have to take a lot of notes because she gives a study guide with a list of questions before each quiz and test. Take her if you can..easy A!
Very laid back teacher. I went to this class once out of three times a week and I got an A. She only tests on what she lectures, and if you are ever in doubt on a quiz or exam pick 'all of the above' as your answer. It is a rather easy A
2nd worst prof I ever had. So unorganized and her lectures are impossible to follow. She has a high expectation for you to know a lot of history before taking her class. I learned nothing and got an A without studying because her test questions include so many "all of the above" answers.
This is a very easy class. The final is virtually ALL REPEATED quiz questions. She always posts the answers to the quizes outside her office so make sure you take advantage and look at them!!! Also, it's not really necessary to go to lecture every day.
This is seriously one of the easiest classes ever. The grading is really straight forward, and although the papers are graded pretty toughly you should still get an A. Unless you're 90% sure or above that an exam answer is NOT "all of the above," Then you better go with "all of the above." And Ducksworth-Lawton is useless if you go to her for help!
So easy, I was worried about the tests because she is not very organized (we study a new time period almost every class!) but virtually all of the answers are "all of the above" or so obvious a toddler could get them correct. Check your grades! One time on a 20 point test she gave me a 20% when I got them all correct. Very nice and understanding.
For the first quiz I did as much of the readings that she poured onto us but still ended up with the worst grade in my history of college
Great professor. Knows everything about history and is very interesting to listen to. I learned a lot about history and I usually hate history. Take her class for an easy A and if you actually want to learn something!
I have taken Professor Ducksworth-Lawton for two classes now. She is very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. She makes history fascinating and always puts things in perspective. However, her lectures are all over the place and don't seem to follow any logical order. Lots of reading. Quiz and test questions are ambiguous.
She can be kind of intimidating when you first meet her but she is actually pretty nice.
She seems very intimidating at first, but she is awesome! Be sure to always attend class, for you get about 75% of the information that is going to be on the quizzes from her lectures. Also, a very easy grader. Got A's on all my papers. She gives a lot of reading, though. Overall, I would definitely recommend her!
Lectures are interesting. She jumps around a bit with the lecture topics, so notes aren't very organized. The quizzes were difficult, and I would recommend going over the readings a couple times. Papers are straight forward. If you do the study guides for the tests, they are easy. I would recommend this class!
She makes herself out to be more intimidating than she really is. She's super unorganized, but yet really helpful--love-hate. The abundance of reading is intimidating, but doable and skimable :P. Study and you'll do okay. Don't read and die!
Don't listen to the people who complain about the lengthy readings. Skim and you'll do perfectly fine. More often than not she discusses the same topics in class, just use some common sense. She's not as scary as the first few days make you believe. Great prof.
Great teacher, provides excellent insight on topics presented. Tests aren't difficult, just go to class and answer the study guides.
This is the first time I have ever disagreed with rate my professor. Fun, interesting and informative class and teacher. Just write down the important points she says "Hint hint" for, and you will easily pass. The tests are all common sense, just write down the "hint hint" parts and generally pay attention and you will pass with little effort.
I really loved taking this class with her and couldn't imagine having another professor for it. Her lectures are very informative and interesting; you can really tell she is passionate and knowledgable about the subject. The tests can be a bit tricky because she always puts "none of the above" or "all of the above" for choices but it's easy to pass
I honestly thought prior to this class that it was going to be terrible. From the course description i thought i would have zero interest. I was so wrong! The class is so interesting. She is extremely passionate about what she does. There is a lot of reading, but i skipped almost all of it and got an A. Just take notes, DONT skip, and sit up close!
I was pleasantly surprised to find the course very informative. I highly recommend this professor for this course due to her knowledge in the subject. In this class, you will only get out of it what you put into it. Work hard and she will notice and grade you fairly. Slack off and its your problem, not hers.
I was looking forward to taking this class, but Ducksworth really ruined this class for me. Her lectures were all over the place, she is disorganized, and she is of no help! I would not recommend taking this class.
I've always liked history, and Ducksworth made it really fun and interesting. There's a lot of reading that goes along with the class, but definitely doable. Make sure to write down the "hint hint" sections of the lecture, they will be tested.
By FAR my favorite professor and the smartest. 300 characters doesn't do her justice. Seems like a lot of reading but I only really use the books for the papers. Lectures are entertaining but can get confusing. Overall, the coursework is very manageable. She's not as intimidating as she appears and is very helpful. I've had her for three UD classes
Ducksworth is a really funny, hardcore woman who always speaks her mind. That being said, she is pretty bad with emails and is intimidating until you get to know her. She loves, loves, LOVES all-of-the-above questions so be prepared to have to know a lot of information. She expects a lot out of her students so if you hate this topic don't take it
There is a lot of reading attached to this class for quizzes but other than that the workload is manageable. I would recommend this class because Ducksworth's lectures are so entertaining and she is so funny
Dr. Ducksworth is awesome. She really knows her stuff and can be slightly intimidating and scary. I learned a lot in her military history class and enjoyed the semester. The tests are hardish and they take a lot of work and time, at least two are take home. One paper around 12 pages. Would definitely take her again.
Selika is a great person, but not the best professor in class. She jumps from content to content without clear connection & often deviates from the course calendar with short notice. Lectures(monologues) are often long, dry & tangential. Lots reading that is never touched on in class, & take home tests. Again great person, get to know out of class
Need help? Just ask.
She's kinda confusing and scary but her class is really really cool and she's hilarious. She assigns a TON of reading, but honestly, if you pay attention in class and take good notes, you'll do pretty well. If you want an A+, you'll have to work. She's horrible with emails so go talk with her in person. Her powerpoints are confusing as well.
Ducksworth really knows her stuff and is a pretty good lecturer. Lots of reading, but try to just focus on the key concepts rather than taking notes of a million different dates. She offers all her study guides on D2L, which are extremely helpful. Print them and bring them to class if you want a good grade. This class isn't easy, but it's worth it.
Professor Ducksworth is one of those "tough, but fair" people. The topic is interesting, and she's clearly incredibly knowledgeable.
She is by far one of my favorite professors. The class is very challenging and packed with information, but it's also very interesting. She gives a large amount of extra credit throughout the semester and is always willing to go out of her way to help you. You really need to work for your grade and do the readings! *hint hint*
Ducksworth is a very cool professor, passionate about the subject. Class is interesting, but she is very disorganized and lectures get confusing and don't seem to follow any sort of system. She says hint hint VERY often, but that's what is on exams, so write them down. I wish I would have filled out the study guides more. Plenty of extra credit
Her lectures are completely random the majority of the time. She jumps from the middle of one subject to another that comes to her mind that doesnt influence the current issue. The questions she puts on study guides dont help you study because she has 12 answers for each one of them. Overall disliked the class, wouldnt take if i had a redo.
She wasn't very clear when it came to assignments or take home exams but her lectures were very interesting and she was really helpful if you had questions for her.
Alright. So pretty much her lectures make any sense. Go to class so you know about the extra credit opportunities that she offers. Honestly, I hardly did any of the readings and I got an A. Just do the extra credit and you should be fine.
The exams didn't have much to do with what we talked about in class. Lectures are hard to follow. Listen for "hint hint". Must read in order to do good on the quizzes and exams. Very hard. Didn't like.
Ducksworth is a great professor. She knows what she is talking about and is very experienced. Athough I didn't read very many of her required texts (other classes were more important), if you pay attention to lecture you will do just fine! Also, come to class because she gives out easy EC opportunities (and lots of them)!
This class is interesting and really easy. You do not need to do the readings. Most of the test questions you can just think about and figure out. Lecture is all over the place. Overall this class is interesting and very easy.
She is a good prof that cares what she is teaching about. She gives out many extra credit options. You would have to try to fail this class, she is very straight forward about what she wants and the class overall is easy. There is 2 papers and a few quizzes on readings that she also talks about in class.
You do have to do a lot of readings for the quizzes. Expect a lot of the test answers to be "all of the above" She gives pretty easy extra credit opportunities and I think she's hilarious. Sometimes her power points seem a little unorganized but you can she really knows what she's talking about. Overall I really enjoyed this class.
Soooooo much reading. She goes very fast in lectures and is all over the place. Extra credit saved me in this class, so make sure to do it when opportunity arises.
My only complaint is that she is unorganized on D2L, and it is hard to find stuff. There is a lot of reading, but you can get by with skimming. Go to class the day before breaks because she will give points half the class is gone. She also has random days of extra credit. DO NOT STRESS ON THE PAPERS, she doesn't grade them that harshly.
There are a lot of readings for this class, and doing them will help greatly on the exams. She jumps from thing to thing in her lectures and her whiteboard notes are sporadic and confusing to follow. She gives out a study guide so if you fill that out you should be alright for the exams.
Ducksworth is honestly really down to earth. she makes real world connections which are pretty funny to listen to. she is a bit disorganized on D2l and does assign some hefty reading, however you can get by with skimming. Don't waist your time with the textbook just COMPLETE THE STUDY GUIDES and put some effort into the papers and you got this.
Great professor incredibly smart. might need to slow down a bit
This class was relatively easy and she's funny- as long as you show up, genuinely listen to her lectures (which are engaging), & do the study guides for the tests, you will be fine. There are quizlets made for her study guides that i memorized and i always got A on her tests. No quizzes either and i literally never did any of the readings assigned.
Dr. Lawton is easy, but disorganized as hell. 210 was my first class with her, and if you're taking that class- don't buy any of the textbooks. We don't use them, and there's a lot listed for 'required'. The assignments in this class are unclear and everything's confusing but at the end of the day the exams are easy. Don't expect productive classes
Funny teacher and very interesting.
Has tons of opportunities for extra credit and drops a lot of grades. The lecture are interesting and provide more information than what's on the power point. The tests are easy and all the resources needed are on D2l. We rarely used the required texts.
This is a fairly easy class since there's so much extra credit handed out and she's an easy grader, but she tends to be really disorganized on D2L and in the grade book. My only real complaint is that I bought all of the "required" books for the class and she never mentioned them once, so don't waste your money on them.
Wonderful lecturer, makes everything make clear sense. Makes you read books, but the books are all very good. All in all a great experience, very informative and impactful.
Did I know a majority of the material? No. Did I get an A? Yes. There are so many extra credit opportunities that for me not to get an A in the class I needed to fail the final, which was impossible. Easy A if you do the work. Also, I never once looked at any of the four required books for the course.
Professor Ducksworth is a phenomenal instructor. I was not excited to take this history class, but I never looked at the clock during her lectures. She's very captivating to listen to. She puts on a very intimidating front, but cares about her students success a lot. If you ask she will give you an extension, easy A if you care about the class.
She was a good professor but really unorganized. The grades weren't in until the last week of classes. Don't have to read the books so don't buy them.
I have my final today and only 6 grades are in out of 30. I don't even know what I need to to get on the final to get the grade that I would like because she hasn't entered anything. When you email her about things she never responds. There are so many extra credit opp. especially toward the end of the semester. TAKE ADVANTAGE! Books are not needed
Most amazing woman ever, she makes everything interesting and exciting to learn about, her only pitfall is posting grades because she has a difference of opinions with canvas. I can not stress enough, TAKE HER CLASS
Professor Ducksworth-Lawton is a truly knowledgable professor. She just has an issue with the organization of the class. Her canvas is always messy but her lectures are quite interesting if you enjoy history. She is also very funny. Document reads are the key components of the class.
Dr. Lwaton has issues with getting grades into Canvas in a timely manner and Canvas organization is pretty bad too. But that being said she is an amazing lecturer and the materials she presents make it really easy to get a good grade in her class as long as you do put in some effort.
Dr. Lawton was a solid choice. Very opinionated on many issues, but usually respectful of the views of others. If you are kind and respectful, you will do well in the class regardless of your own views. There is quite a bit of work, but it is scattered throughout--some weeks you will have a lot to do, and others you may have nothing.
I really enjoyed her and her class. She knows a lot about what she is talking about, but sometimes she doesn't explain it well. She is blunt and will tell it how it is. Her class was fun and you do a lot of group work. Her exams are confusing and a little difficult, but do the group work and you'll get an A. She is a really cool person to know
Dr. Lawton is a really knowledgeable professor, her lectures are always interesting as well. One thing I did not particularly like was how she was always changing due dates and she never responds to her emails. This class also heavily depends on group work.
I really enjoyed Dr. Lawton. The class itself was not that much work. The main problem is that most people didnt go to the information sessions where assignments were explained, so a lot of people were always confused.
Selika is a caring professor and an inspiration. Her class is manageable if you can survive doing a lot of group work. I had the opportunity to work with her outside of class in some community advocacy. She is a fighter and a fierce advocate and I was honored to be her student.
HIST 210 was mainly group projects and lectures. Shes an amazing person and lectures were interesting. Gives LOTS of extra credit options. Ask questions in person cause shes hard to reach outside of class. Wants the best for her students and is understanding. I recommend taking her if you get the chance.
Great lecturer, lots of extra credit, horribly organized, slow grader, constant changed due dates, horrible communicator, and literally gives everyone an A, I have no idea if it's possible to not get A
Dr. Lawton is very nice and the class is fairly easy. She ended up throwing out most of the assignments due to her consistent cancellation of class. Dr. Lawton is unclear about assignment criteria and gives little to no feedback, but the work is relatively easy and if you're willing to put a bit of time in, an A with her shouldn't be too hard.
Dr. D is legitimately my favorite professor!!! She is extremely knowledgeable about everything she teaches and her assignments aren't that hard at all. I will say be ready to read and listen for her to say "hint hint" in her lectures because at times her lectures will start to seem like random information you don't need. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT!!!!
Selika was a great professor to have. She really knows what she's talking about and teaches very well. There aren't any exams or quizzes its more of just exams. For those of you complaining about getting an A,ur an idiot why do u want her to grade harder lmao. Anyways one of the smartest professors on the campus, and teaches well if u listen.
Her lectures are a little hard to follow but she is willing to have great conversations both about and not about class. Knows what she is talking about. Easy and flexible grader.
She is truly a great person! Loves to teach. Easy grader, most of her classes are stress free and what you put in is what you get out.
She is such an amazing professor and I had a lot of fun shooting my classmates with Nerf guns on the last day of class! A lot of group projects that are really interesting and easy. My only grievance is that she is a little unorganized but overall not too bad. Highly recommend taking any class with her. Such an amazing professor and woman!
Prof Ducksworth is extremely knowledgeable, and you can tell she has a passion for what she is teaching. HIST210 with her is really easy as long as you turn things in on time. Many people say she hates her students, but that was not my experience. DO NOT buy the textbooks. I never used them. My one bad this is that she is very disorganized.
Ducksworth is obviously knowledgeable and passionate about the subject she teachers. However, she is the most disorganized teacher I've ever had. No one ever had any idea when things were due, what things were due, what was going on. She canceled class constantly, sometimes minutes before class. Can't believe this class costs money.
She genuinely cares about her students, will bend over backwards for anybody, and is downright hilarious. I wish more professors were like her.
I love her as a person but not as a professor; she is highly disorganized. She never answers emails. Cancellation of class at least once a week. Sad you have to pay for this class, but beyond easy A. Gave us less than a week to work on the final (2 papers of 3-7 pages) :( DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOKS!
Personally, I like Dr. D as a person and activist. But she is not a good teacher, and this shows in this class. We were supposed to make it to the 1990s, but only made it to the 1920s in lectures, due to Dr. D. constantly circling back on the same topics. I usually just tuned out instead of listening; overall, don't take!
She is incredibly knowledgeable in her content area and can easily answer any question you ask... if you can find her. Does not reply to emails. Most of the class is group projects and you stay with the same group all semester so, choose wisely. Will be sent "Class Canceled, sent from iPhone" emails once a week. Don't bother buying the books.
I wish I could give her a higher score. She is genuinely a very cool and nice person. Also a very forgiving grader. But she just rambles on and on and backtracks constantly on the material. Canvas is a disorganized mess of articles and links that don't work half the time. Her saving grace is her engaging style and clear knowledge of the subject.
Ms. Lawton is very kind and very nice, however she can be a bit scary. If you like organization, this class is not for you. I stressed trying to write a paper that was due in only a week. Don't really understand the assignments. Too much reading.
Idek where to start. Her canvas page is a mess, lectures are a waste of time, as she talks about the content for 5 minutes, and ends up rambling about how to shoot a bear the rest of the class. Do not take if possible. It's week 12 and not a single assignment is graded, so not sure how she even grades papers, or if I need to get my grade up.
Prof Ducksworth is super knowledgeable, but the class is disorganized. Lots of extra credit and an easy A, though. Unstuckstudy helped me prep for exams when the course materials were confusing.
This class was extremely frustrating. She did not grade anything until a few weeks before the semester ended, and the layout of her canvas is a mess. She is also impossible to reach outside of class. I really do respect her, and she is very knowledgeable and passionate, but teaching is not her venue. Do not get the textbooks.
She was very knowledgeable, but she would stop to google things but would not be able to find what she was looking for. Canvas was a mess, none of her links would work and it was difficult to find anything. Her papers were also difficult to understand because the rubric didn't make sense. She is a very easy grader though. Don't buy the books!!
I thought this professor was very knowledgeable and gave good notes on the class subject. How those notes were organized on Canvas on the other hand, made things difficult. Is mostly lecture based, but lectures are fun when there's conversation. Didn't grade assignments until last week of class, and left no notes when handed back. Great overall tho
This professor is incredibly messy. The canvas page is nearly impossible to navigate. She takes a very long time to grade, and lectures are like watching paint dry. Nearly ever on task. Decently easy to make a decent grade so far. Thank goodness for the student teacher in my class.
Very knowledgable, well-informed, and interesting sense of humor. Very helpful if you ask her a question after class/during worktime. She is super messy and terrible with technology and canvas, manages time poorly (but still responsible for mistakes, push back due dates). Assignments are not that bad, class felt very chill
will talk your ear off for half of the class and not even get into the content some days. Does not grade anything until the end of the semester. Will cancel class very often. Lecture is very boring and ends up going off the rails into side tangents. Was often very confused about what we were even discussing.
Overall, I enjoyed this professor. She does not have a filter, so I really appreciated the real history of America vs what we were taught in high school. She does not have very many assignments, and grades are kind of slow, but overall the class was easy and informational. I would take her class again.
Duxksworth is an incredible professor. She is so funny, and I actually want to take part in her lectures. She is super kind. The one problem is her canvas is a disaster, plus with multiple classes she had to miss, I didn't feel ready for the midterm and final. I was lost writing those papers. But overall, she is wonderful. Take a class from her!
