She was an excellent teacher, she only kept you in class for how long you needed to be there. Attendance is a must though it is worth 70/300 points! her classes are pretty fun though. I would highly recommend taking her. Also if you ever need help she will meet with you outside her office hours she def. went above and beyond for her students.
Great prof. She knows the subject and has the ability to break it down so you can understand it. She is very helpful. I would recommend her for Econ 200.
OMG I love her. She is amazing and very helpful. The class was chard I'm not going to lie; however, she broke it down to make it easy to understand. She even helped in her office hours.I highly recommend her for econ 200.
She was really great. The class I found pretty easy, but many of my classmates found it really challenging. She broke down everything so it made more sense. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss one class you miss a whole lot. I loved the way she teaches and she really knows what she is talking about. I really recommend her for Econ 200.
Great instructor, very easy going. She makes a relatively boring topic pretty enjoyable. Go to class, study the notes, and there shouldn't be any problem with her class.
She's really good professor.. If you want to take economy 200 she's the right prof. For you. Don't even bother other profs..
She was really great. The class was easy for me others found to be hard. She brokes down everything so clear. She is very nice and helpful. I really recommend her for Econ 200. Plus she is good looking.
She was an awesome teacher!! She did a great job of explaining everything and made it pretty interesting. I would recommend her to anyone who asks!
Great Professor! I really hate economics but when I took her class I actually liked it, I guess it was the past econ professors that I had that made me hate the subject. She explains everything crystal clear. She is very helpful and coming into the class she lets you know exactly what to expect from the class.
She's amazing gives bounous hw and on tests..would help anyway possible, the class is kinda hard go to class and u'll be fine..i got an A but u have to work for it. highly recomended
Highly recommended..
TAKE HER, she does not want you to fail, but you need to do the work. She went above and beyond as far as making herself avaiable to her students after class, office hours and weekend study groups. I was concerned in the beginning, because I missed the first day attempting to find a class to join and missed one other class. Then she seemed to go rea
If you show up for every class, ask questions if you're unsure, and see her on your own time if you are struggling - then there is no reason not to take this class. She went above and beyond - graded fast - funny - did a great job keeping the class on track. A lot of info in a short time - So only take this class if you can make it to every class
Professor Asiamah is amazing. This is a tough course no doubt, but she gives you every opportunity. Lots of bonus points, and you get to drop your lowest scores. She goes very fast, so you have to keep up, but she has great office hours and responds quickly to email. She also grades VERY quickly, like same day! Do the work and study = A.
Hard class, but instructor quite willing to help those who struggle. DO NOT miss claas r you'll get behind and lost!
Great professor! She is very clear in her presentations. I did great just by studying her presentations. Relatively straight forward in quiz's and exams. Always contact her if you need help, she's awesome about that. Definitely recommend her! Oh, and she writes her own finals! That's a plus ;)
Awesome professor!!! She is straight forward in quiz's and tests. Very helpful, and she writes her own finals. Read and understand the slides and your golden ;) I took her online class.
Great Teacher! GO TO CLASS! If you pay attention in lectures, complete your homework, and turn in all the assignments, you should do fine in this class. Economics is a difficult subject matter for most students, but she does a much better job with the material than other teachers at CSCC. TAKE HER CLASSES! :)
she is just great
tough course
Yes, this is a tough course; however, it is taught by an exceptional professor. She is always willing to help. Encourages students to stay after class, or vist her office (I had to visit her often & I got an A), she even held a special Saturday study session this quarter for the 2nd exam. You can earn lots of extra credit. Requires a lot of effort
She speaks English and is helpful in that she is willing to meet during office hours to help you out. That being said, taking notes from her is difficult as she tends to rush through things and it feels like you're just copying stuff down blindly trying to keep up. Maybe this will be better when semesters come because there will be more time.
As long as you go to class and pay attention while taking notes, You'll do fine. She makes plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit and tries to make the class as enjoyable as possible. If you have a question, she's happy to help so don't be afraid to ask. So just do the homework's and go to class and the class will be easier than you think.
Tough class, don't sleep on it in the beginning. Sallone is an exceptional professor. She is very fast paced and very clear with instruction. She wants you to pass. I highly recommend her if you have to take Microeconomics. Good luck!
she is really cool. I can always get help from her easily. I got an A+. I really enjoy this class. you can get a good grade easily.
She is the best teacher I ever had!
Took Online Class- Excellent Instructor- Difficult course, but if you are required to take it she is the teacher for you! Very thorough and will be there to help you if you're confused.
Take good notes and you should do fine. She explains economics in lehman's terms. Very interesting class but not an easy class so you must study and do your work. Gives extra credit opportunities. Tutoring can help but pay attention and you should do well.
One of the best teachers I have ever had, definitely recommend her for all your Economics classes. She's very clear, goes at nice pace, and she's very nice. If you take good notes it's an easy A.
Economics is not an easy subject but Sallone does a good job at making it easy to understand. She is very helpful and you can tell she enjoys the subject as well. You do have to work/study though so if you're looking to just be given a good grade without effort then don't take the course.
A very hard course, but professor Asiamah with her excellent knowledge about the subject, made a huge difference!I would recommend her to other students if you really want to understand economics. She is very helpful and professional!
The best econ teacher out there !
Attended her Hybrid class. She is a great teacher, and makes a difficult subject easy to learn. Her PowerPoints are a great tool in addition to the book. Is willing to take time to help students who need it, all you have to do is ask.
GREAT! Knows her stuff in & out! She provided tons of extra material on Blackboard to help you study: PowerPoints, videos, exerts from other books, practice quizzes. Homework wasn't too hard, didn't take long. Grade based on hw, quizzes, tests and 1 easy paper. Offers extra credit. Doesn't use the book at all, just need to buy the LearnSmart code
ECON2200 it's boring course , and the instructor did not responded to my e-mails she offered few assistance by going to her office , but unfortunately i went there and i didn't find her ... SOOOOO i had to finish the class on my own
Selloane is awesome! I thought this class would be boring but she made it interesting. One of my favorite teachers at CSCC!
Great professor, however be prepared to do a lot of work. Miss one class and it will not be easy catching up. Interesting course and course material, again, its just a large work load. Exams and quizzes are challenging.
Mixed feelings about taking her economic course. The lectures and notes are very helpful and easy to understand, but when it comes to her exams.. the questions are harder than it should be. Or sometimes, the questions are irrelevant to what you study, almost as if you need economic common sense. And trust me when I say her exams are hard!
Her lectures are some of the best I've say through, she found a way to make somewhat boring material interesting to me and her class has really helped push me towards an economic major.. She genuinely cares for her students and is just overall a very nice lady.. Highly recommended
it's good, she speaks clearly. But the test is so hard. You should understand it. Her lectures are amazing. Lot of notes!
I took this class online, so it may have been different than in class. Economics for me was hard and her exams are a KILLER! Do all your homework, quizzes, etc. She is a rather hard grader on homework and papers. Had her in microeconomics and did a lot better until she changed her curriculum for this class. A LOT of reading. I'd find someone else.
Provides study guides for all tests however there is always information on the tests that isn't on the study guide. Does not respond to emails promptly if at all. There is one paper assigned that is pretty easy and there are a few extra credit possibilities. The final is cumulative and it is hard! Make sure you start on the study guide early!
Ms. Asiamah is an excellent professor. I'm surprised she isn't a 4.8 - 5.0. This is a tough class but she knows how to make the most of your time. You can tell she goes out of her way to give real world examples to help you understand. She even offered to help me if I had questions when I had to take ECON 2201 from another professor.
Professor Asiamah is a great online teacher. Her online classroom is well organized and makes it easy to keep track of what is due each week. The class itself is difficult, but Asiamah makes an effort to help whenever needed. She also offers multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester which helps a ton.
She gives you everything you need to be successful. I just read the book and did the homework and felt the class was easy. Although homework can be hard. Provides good review questions w/ answers. If you take ONLINE n do not like to read book it will be difficult! Answers emails quickly. Never spoke to her but she writes good notes!
Sallone is a very easy going and easy to talk too professor. Her lectures are very easy to follow along with despite her not using PowerPoint slides. She genuinely cares about here students and want us to understand the material. The tests aren't too difficult if you attend all lectures and put in a little study time. Homework assignments are easy.
Sallone is one of the best instructors I have had at CSCC. Macro is hard, but not as difficult as micro. Taking this online is challenging. She cares about her students, she knows the material and will go the extra mile to help her students. Some of the exams can be tough especially the final which is comprehensive. She is a model prof, bless U
She is a very nice understand lady. She offers multiple extra credit opportunities. She drops your two lowest quizzes and homework. Her lectures are very good and she is always willing to help. Study your notes out of class. You don't really need the book. You take four tests and the last one is a departmental test. Tests are hard.
The professor is great, I think it is just the content of the class that makes it a very difficult class. Most of your grade will come from tests and you should take advantage of the study sessions that she offers as well as tutoring should time permit. If you understand the material you will be golden, otherwise, get ready for a rocky semester.
Goes way to fast presenting brand new material, does not explain material in a good way at all. Tries to trick on quizzes and assumes the whole class understands what she is saying. Whenever she asks the class a question, its guess what shes thinking. Horrible teacher.
awful teacher, can barely understand. rude and calls students out
Do not take her class, if you want to learn and understand economics. She does not care about students. Her notes were no help, as I could read more from book and online McGraw-Hill resources. A lot of students from our class were using Khan Academy to understand the concept. If you show up for the study sessions, she is no help, very cold and mean
I had her Blended class and was great. I enjoyed it. We meet every Monday and she answered any question we had. She will even give extra credit at the end of the semester.
She replies to all emails fast. Not too much work at home for a blended class, homework and reading quizes are easy. I like the way she explains, she does not explain in a very professional and organized way, as if your friend was explaining the lessons. I find that very nice. She is too fast for some people. Her tests are not easy, can be tricky.
I only have 6 weeks in this semester (Autumn 18) and I regret taking this class! The online homework and reading quizzes are EASY. The book explains EASY examples. The exams are REALLY HARD! The study guide (small one) is useless. There is a term paper that asks you to much stuff. I think this is not "basic" microeconomics! Stay away from her! RUN
The class was very challenging, interesting, required a lot of practice. Took the online course, and she gives more resources than you know what to do with. The homework and reading quizzes are online. She gives you practice assignments and quizzes from her traditional class. Just stay organized and practice the math. Highly recommended professor.
To my surprise, I really enjoyed this class. It is difficult, and can be confusing. Definitely not an easy A. However, professor Selloane cares about her students and wants you to learn and take it with you beyond class. I would 100% recommend her!
She was the worst professor I have ever had. Gives tons of homework and quizzes every week. She gives you a heads up that something is due the day before. She is also a tough grader. I would not recommend her to anyone.
Professor Asiamah was great! She really cares about what she teaches and does a great job teaching. She also is a very good lecturer.
you must be VERY hard on yourself to get through this class with a good grade. It is 100% textbook, with no lectures. You rarely hear from the professor, but when things are due. A ton of quizzes, and long homework assignments through the textbook. While, I definitely think its doable, its not for people who cant discipline themselves.
She was a really good econ professor, very helpful with resources to help you understand the content. She also would join online to help the class study for the exam. Highly recommend her for Econ!
The class is not too difficult, there is a language barrier and reading comprehension is not a strong suit. She does provide extra credit and answers questions to the best of her ability. I was shocked to notice that she changed an exam grade (in which I still did not do super well in) to a zero. Will be investigating with head of the department.
I really think my first issue is that I have a hard time understanding economics, that's not on her. BUT I did not think anything we did or any assignment she gave us helped me understand it any better.
Coursework solely on McGraw hill. Work layout is same each week. About 3hrs/week + study for exams(4). Very mind numbing and frustrating at times. Not horrible amount of work and exams are multiple choice. Work due every sunday night. Just very boring with no social/interpersonal interaction. Exams are moderately difficult for me maybe just study.
Pretty useless in terms of communication.
Professor Asiamah is a wonderful individual. She has lots of extra credit. There are 4 main exams (including final). The final is 300pts the exams are 100. Do your HW on time she has videos to help you, I rarely used the online textbook but that also helped. She responds fast. Econ is not in my realm of interest, but she is indeed a good teacher.
WOW. Professor Asiamah is awesome. I truly enjoyed this class (live lecture micro). She is REALLY good at teaching and will go over anything you are confused about. 100% recommend taking her lecture versus completely virtual. 3 multiple choice exams. Responds to emails within a day. 48 pts extra credit. Not easy but an A is definitely achievable!
Professor Asiamah is the ideal professor. I took her ECON 2200 class once a week during the summer, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Homework was very light (one assignment per week) and quizzes/supplemental assignments took very little time. I feel as if I could now apply 99% of the things I learned in her class to daily life. Take this class!
There are 3 exams plus a final, quizzes on each chapter she has chapter notes in blackboard so the book isn't really needed. She is an excellent professor she fully explains material. Theres a term paper on either supply or demand plus homework. Overal everything is easy.
Weekly hw+quiz+adaptative learning Do not take this class web only but it might be better in person or live online
Class was easy I was just lazy. You can look up everything during test and quizzes.
Very easy class, and you rarely ever have homework probably just once a week. Just be sure to be mindful of the quizzes, and adaptive learning modules that you must complete by the end of the month !!
She was okay, it's just a lot of work: 1 quiz, 1 homework, 1 adaptive learning per week, sometimes more. There's extra credit that'll bump your grade. Just do the work and you'll be fine, don't watch the lectures, just pay attention to the adaptive learning. Personally, I think she is the best economics prof at CSCC.
I had been performing well on my assignments, quizzes, and extra credit but was not receiving good grades on the exams. I emailed her to see what I could do to make it better or any study tips. It took her one week for me to send her a follow-up email to get a response, and all she responded with was that I needed to study earlier.
Just tired of professors outsourcing their job to McGraw Hill's online BS. 99% of this class is structured through McGraw and while easy enough, I honestly cannot say I learned anything but how to navigate though the tedium of the online assignments. Disappointing that you pay for a class to be shuffled through another web portal.
It's an online class. Everything you do is done through a program (except the paper). My advice to you is to complete the extra credit first, followed by the Adaptive Learning, then the homework, and finally the quiz. The professor gives good feedback when you ask. It's a very independent class. There is one paper due at the end of the semester.
not much to say, took the class online so i barely talked to her and she didn't really give any feedback on any of my assignments. the class itself really isn't that bad if you stay on top of due dates unlike me
As long as you stay on top of the assignments you'll do good in this course. She provides video lectures that thoroughly break down all the concepts of microeconomics which helped me understand everything a lot more. You can look up the answers on quizzes, exams, etc and there is a term paper on supply or demand which isn't hard to complete.
I don't usually review professors, but I feel like everything I read on the bad reviews were 100% right. I reached out multiple times to this professor trying to get insights on things I was struggling with, and her response was always short and dismissive, never a straight answer and going the extra mile to complicate things!
This professor is very bad at communicating both in the sense of what assignments are due when as well as responding to emails. All of the assignments are through McGraw Hill.
don't expect a response to your email because she'll just post a shady announcement saying she wont be responding. never helpful or communicative. she only has to manually grade 1 thing herself and it took her over a month. clearly doesn't care about the class/students and cant be bothered. take anyone else. its basically a textbook teaching you
Did not communicate with students at all during the course and was rude over email when asked to fix major grading mistakes. She clearly does not care about this class or her job at all as most of the work is graded automatically, and she takes forever to respond to emails and grade work. Do yourself a favor and take literally any other professor.
I have taken classes with several professors, but this one is the worst by far. Please avoid taking a class with her if you don't have to. It is obvious that she doesn't care about her students.
Overall good teacher. Its a very structured class and has a lot of homework. All homework, quizzes and tests are done through a economics website. Just keep up with the reading. One term paper at the end of the class.
Tests and Homework was hard but that wasn't her, the material was hard.
Do not take this class online if you can avoid it. She isn't very communicative over email and takes a long time to put grades in. The class itself would have been better had it been in person.
Homework, quizzes, and assignments are all taken through the Macmillan website. She provides optional lecture videos and notes from previous classes but they don't necessarily correlate with the chapter that you have to read and were unhelpful to me. Not difficult just tedious and she takes a while to respond to emails. Macmillan grades all work.
Good professor and grader. Responds to emails fast.
I am sorry, but whoever rated this professor below a four should reconsider. She was amazing. This class is self-explanatory from the lectures to the reading. Homework is due on Sundays, but everything else is due months out. She offers extra credit, and the Exams are online at home, not at CSCC. Take her online class before the spots are filled.
Not sure where the bad reviews are from. This is a good prof and grades pretty nicely too! There's a lot of work, but you can plan ahead when to get them done. Exams can be taken online and they are not proctored either. If you are ECON major, yeah take this in-person since you need to actually learn more in-depth, but if not, take it online.
Everything is online on the same website. The textbook and homeworks go together. She can take a long time to respond to emails and does not play about her deadlines. Also no redos. I do not like that she is not very hands on, I feel she doesn't do much because the website we use for homework, grades the homework. So its as if she's not even there
She clearly explained the material, answered students' questions during class, and wanted her students to be successful. She likes to handwrite her notes on the board, which I liked, and handed out worksheets for practice and went over them with students. I recommend taking her!
This class is easy if you can read everything in the textbook she gives us. It is difficult however becausee there is a lot of work. There is extra credit though which isn't difficult at all. My advice is to read everything about the chapter then do all the assignments for that chapter. She responds quickly to emails.
