Highly recommend Professor Sena's class for ECON 351. She taught in a straightforward way and you are REALLY welcomed to ask questions as she'd be willing to answer. Also, Professor Sena has an amazing memory of most students' names. And go to her office hours, tho the practice tests & the mid-term r easy. Some background in AP ECO will help more.
She gives you practice questions and uses those questions for quizes and tests but she changes the numbers in questions. Lectures are long and boring but useful. You can't use phones or laptops during lectures. If she sees you on your phone a lot, she takes your phone away.
Class is quite clear and easy to understand, but in two hour lectures attention is lost very quickly. She doesn't allow phones or electronic devices in class but attendance is not mandatory. It is more efficient to teach yourself, but her lectures are clear but slow-moving.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll save yourself a lot of time by going & paying attention. The lectures can start to drag on near the end, but Sena is pretty clear, though she can rush through some examples. Her quizzes and tests are super straightforward. Make sure to keep up w the material & do all the practice Qs. I have a 96% right now.
Economics is not an easy topic, so it there will be hard work and commitment required of you in this class. Professor Durguner, however, is much different than other professors in that she is willing to help you whenever you need assistance and all she wants from you is to try your best. As long as you work hard, it will pay off, I guarantee it.
Sena is the best teacher that befriends with her students. Love in class interaction and we all like her. This class is really intimidating at first but really teach me how to study more than just econ. I am top three of the two classes before finals and aced the class. My tips are to distinguish how hard this class is for you. Hard class: previe
Sena is a great person. I would definitely recommend her. She engages with the class and create a friendly atmosphere between students. Just Show up to class, and do the homework yourself! and you should be ok for the other 3 tests.
It's incredible how much time&effort she devotes to making sure she is the best she can be. She always took time to set up appointments with me because my other classes conflicted with her office hours. Her tests are very fair. Just do the homework, review the lectures& go through all practice tests. If you have any questions, she'll always help.
Not hard to get an A, very good professor, but you must print out all the slides for the class, and make good notes. The quizs won't be hard if you did her practice questions, and the two midterms and final you should really work hard on it, not only understand all the concepts but do all the practice questions and you will get and A.
Sena is BEST and NICEST professor ever! Two main things are needed to do well in this course: to attend lectures and to solve practice problems. If you concentrate on the things covered in the lecture, you will be fine. Try to solve practice problems several times. She always prepares really hard to deliver informative&helpful lectures. Take her!
Sena is definitely there for you, but this class is not easy whatsoever. Attendance is optional, but if you go to class consistently and show that you care you will get a higher grade. Do the practice questions after class and you'll do fine. This isn't a class you want to wait till the last minute to study. Work hard and you'll get a B minimum.
I really liked having this class with her. The course is not easy at all, but she tries really hard to help you whenever you're having trouble understanding the material. She cares about her students and makes sure to learn everyone's names, which I honestly really like. Exams can be hard but if you solve a lot of practice problems you should be ok
Professor Durguner is extremely helpful and provides everything a student needs to do well in her course. I am thankful to have had her as a professor. The most important things to do to succeed in her course are to attend her class, practice the problems she gives after class and understand them. Work hard and you will do well.
Sena is one of the nicest professor I have ever seen. Her class is actually not that hard, my suggestion is to read through the lecture slides and then do the practice problems multiple times. If you know how to do every single one of them, you will be in very good shape. So in conclusion, this class is easy as long as you work for it.
Sena is a great teacher and getting an A in her class is 100% completely manageable. They aren't easy A's but if you go to class it's no problem. She provides ample amounts of examples and study materials in class that directly mirror her tests. My favorite thing about Sena was that she truly cares about her students success. Take her class!!
Print out lecture slides ahead of time and take notes on those, and thats your best way to learn. Tests are tough, but she gives you a lot of helpful practice exams. Sena is super nice! Really cares for each student and knew us all on a first name basis. Her class was very demanding, but she taught the material well and its helping me a ton now.
Sena is a great teacher for ECON 351. The subject material was hard but she was very clear cut in what quizzes and exams would be like. She made the class much easier by offering help before and after class and office hours. Be sure to participate and get to know her, because she will take into account the amount of effort you put into the class.
There is a strict no cell-phone and no being late policy that is annoying at first, but helps students pay attention during class. Showing up to class is not mandatory, but is helpful as she will get to know you on a first name basis. Tests are hard, but fair. Everything on the tests were things she goes over in class but you really have to study.
Hard work pays off in her class, and no work at all guarantees you to fail. She is a very helpful professor if you go to office hours; she expects a professional, proactive attitude during class; her tests are not about memorization but about understanding the concepts and trying to use them analitically. Do many practice questions
This is probably one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. The material themselves aren't that bad, if you really understand them. Memorizing practices will not help. You have to understand everything to do well in her class. Her classes are hard, but they are worth taking.
This professor is my favorite professor in USC, and she is not easy as people think could receive easy A. However, once you go to her lecture, focus on what she taught in class and do practice questions and understand them completely, then I promise you will be fine for the grade and the most important thing is you could learn a lot from her.
Getting an A in this class is challenging, but achievable with diligence and dedication. The pace is pretty fast, so be sure to keep up with the material weekly. You have to truly understand the concept to do well on tests, and reading the textbook helped with that. She's super reasonable and eager to help during office hours. A rewarding class.
She is the best professor. In the beginning, I was really concerned because she seemed really strict. However, the reality was different. She is one of the most friendly professor I have ever seen. She held a few day-long office hours after every midterm to meet "every" student. I will take her BUAD306 when I get back 2 years later. Take her class!
She is one of the most impressive teachers I've ever had the pleasure to study under. She has a thorough understanding of how to best facilitate the learning of her students, and - honestly - she had a very powerful impact on my study habits and ability to navigate difficulties. Note: lecture material is very important, so go to class!
She is the best Econ professor. Take her if possible. But don't expect it to be easy. There are online quizzes and assignments for every chapter, and non-graded assignments that you have to do to get a good grade because at least 60% of tests are extremely similar to them. She is very helpful when you have questions. She truly loves teaching Econ.
Really liked Sena. Very clear class - read the textbook, listen to lectures, do the homework, study hard, and an A is very doable. If you participate during class and are nice to her, she'll like you. Just prepare to work. She takes students she likes out for food at the end of the semester! Doesn't usually take attendance, but sometimes random.
She is the best professor I had ever met. It is true that her tests are very hard, and I have NEVER worked sooooo hard for a class. Never in my life... However, when I saw my own improvements after all the hard work, I have never felt so accomplished before. She not only teaches us Econ, but also helped us to develop a good learning habits.
She is the best professor I had ever met and explains everything clearly. You may find her strict at first. But as you learn more and getting to know her more during each class, you'll find how helpful her classroom policies are. You'll never find a GREAT professor like her again. Hope she can teach my other classes!
I think this is a easy class. Go to lectures, do your homeworks, and review before tests, and you'll be fine. Those who give bad comments are just bad at Econ and want to blame it on the professor. Econ is not an easy class, and you need to spend time to get an A.
Comes off strict at first but really isn't too bad. Lectures can be slow at times but lecture slides are helpful to study beforehand. Do non-graded assignments to help prepare for tests. Textbook can be helpful with understanding concepts but not necessary.
Professor Durguner is probably one of the best professors I have ever met. She gives great lectures, and provides you with everything you need to success in the class. She tries to remember every student's name and is always there for you. Her class policy may seem strict at the beginning but eventually becomes the spirit of the class. Take her!
Professor Durguner explains the class materials really well and the exams are easy as long as you do the homework.
I took this class as a part of my finance minor and it was an easy A. Professor Durguner is very sweet and her lectures are mainly just walking you through powerpoints. Never went to office hours, but in class she is really nice. There are online homework assignments every week, but they did not take too much time. Show up for an A.
Great professor. Professor Durguner gave us so much resources to do well (non-graded assignments, lecture slides, online graded homework and quizzes) and really cares that we understand the material. Will definitely take her class again!
Very caring for her students
Great professor, she's strict but if you follow what she says you definitely get a high grade.
Sena is a great professor. She is very clear with her expectations and gives her students every resource they need to be successful. That being said, the class is not at all easy. You will have to work hard to get a good grade. Going to class is critical in order to be successful. There is a lot of content, so go to class and ask questions.
Although this class is known to be tough, it is very possible for anyone to succeed--if they work hard. Durguner provides many practice problems and detailed lecture slides. If you can understand the concepts and practice the problems in advance, the midterms and final are very fair;sometimes even easy. Whatever effort you put in you will get back
Professor Durguner has been an amazing teacher throughout the entire semester. She really teaches you the material in a clear way and wants you to do well. Not only does she give you the resources (nongraded assignments, lecture slides etc) to do well in the class but she also makes herself available to help you during her office hours.
Professor Durguner is a great teacher. She comes off as intimidating at first, but is so kind and helpful throughout the semester. She really wants her students to succeed, and she teaches you not only the material but how to study efficiently too. Also gives very helpful study material.
Great teacher, she makes it clear what you have to do to get an A, and encourages you to work hard. Do not be turned off by how strict she is on the first day, she turns into a softy later in the semester. Her class is very organized, and I enjoyed it greatly. She is also very kind, and helped me with career planning.
She is helpful, clear, and
Very clear about what is necessary to do well in the class. Exams are virtually all based off of concepts found on the lecture slides. Going to class is not necessary but make sure you know how to do all the problems found in the lecture slides/non graded assignments along with the concepts mentioned in the slides.
Compared to the other professors who teach 351, she is incredibly hard. She was the only one with a cumulative final. She is a pretty decent teacher and provides notes you can print and practice tests. The practice tests are way more difficult than the test. If you dont understand each concept in and out you wont get an A.
If you are enrolled in this class currently I think it would be in your best interest to look into another professors. I studied and went to endless hours of tutoring and still could not manage a C on a test. I don't feel her practice exams or lecture were helpful, would not recommend.
Professor Sena Durguner was my favorite professors at USC. Although her class is tough you will leave with a thorough understanding of Economics. She gives all of the lecture-slides and practice problems from Day 1 so if you are diligent & do not put-off your studying, you will do well. She gives great lectures and really cares about her students.
Her lectures are detailed and specific with good examples of test problems but they also can be long and tedious. She has pretty strict class procedures and policies on office hours, but is very helpful and available when you need help. She's also willing to boost your grade slightly if she sees you work hard. Overall a good prof.
Let me save you, switch to another econ teacher. Her class relative to the others is way more difficult and has a cumulative final which the other classes do not have. You have t put in tremendous effort to get a decent grade in the class. That being said, she is a good teacher who is passionate about teaching but needs to ease up.
This class was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I spent hours upon hours each week trying to understand tough concepts and homework assignments to prepare for the test but was only partly successful. Without the curve, more than half of the class wouldn't have passed.
This professor is not a good communicator. The concept is not that hard, but her tests have no relation to what she teaches and there's no prior preparation for these exams. Do not recommend.
Th professor really wants her students to do well in her class by posting lecture slides, and non-graded practice problems. Many students find it difficult because they do not practice those non-graded problems. Practicing those problems for midterms are crucial (3 midterms accounting for 20%). Get A if study the lecture slides and do the problems.
Sena is a really responsible teacher. As long as you study lecture slides well and do all the non-graded assignments, getting an A is attainable.
Professor is really caring , responsible and wants her students to succeed. As long as you do the non-graded assignments and review the lecture slides before the exams, you will be fine. No pop quizzes, all homework and quizzes are done on-line and can be done multiple times so no worries. Her tests are all multiple choices.
This professor is one of the most caring professors I have ever taken. With that being said her class is extremely hard and you are better off taking one of the easier econ professors. I would read the chapters before class, go through her lectures, do the hw and quizzes, and the non-graded assignments and still was unable to pass her tests.
Like the past reviews stated, Professor Durguner is tough. Real tough compared to the other options at Econ 351X. DON'T be intimidated by the first day of class or the first exam results. I got the average at a D-. If you put in a lot of work by doing the nongraded assignments and studying lecture slides, you'll do fine. My final grade was an A-.
A really approachable professor if you ever have questions. She usually talks about course requirements in the first class. DO NOT be intimidated! She is actually super nice and caring. The exams and homework are not difficult if you review her lecture slides and do non-graded assignments.
Prof Durguner is a very patient and knowledgeable lady. She will be willing to spend lots of time answering your questions. This course could be hard for those who have not taken econ before. The final is cumulative, which could be challenging.
Professor Durguner is one of the nicest professors I have met so far! She is really approachable and wants all of her students to do well. The exams can be very tricky and the final exam is cumulative. To do well for this class, you need to complete ALL of the non-graded assignments and understand everything in the lecture slides thoroughly.
Professor Durguner genuinely cares about her students. She clearly states the grading guidelines and emphasizes her study recommendations on the first day of class. The course itself is difficult, but she makes the material online-accessible: lecture slides on Blackboard and online homework/quizzes on MyEconLab. Don't hesitate to ask her for help.
Professor Durguner was a solid econ teacher. She was extremely clear with her expectations (everything we needed to know was on her lecture slides, which she posted online for us to use). 92% of our grade was based on multiple choice test scores, which forced me to actually learn the material. Lectures are a little slow. Would recommend.
Durguner really makes you become a better student by teaching you how to prepare for midterms and final exams. She gives you non-graded assignments that help you become more fimilar to the class. I was honestly failing the class but she helped and motivated me to do so much better. She always asked about my studying before every class! She's great!
Professor Durguner is one of my favorite professors at USC. I transferred from another 4 year university and have never experienced such a difficult class but rewarding class. If you go to class, do the non graded assignments, and make sure to study and pace yourself before the tests you will do totally fine in this class. She's so sweet and caring
I was terrified to take a Durguner because everyone told me not to. She is extremely intimidating the first day, but you come to find out that she is actually very sweet and she cares so much about her students. This was a really hard class and I had to study a ton but it was so worth it. I've never learned so much& I know how to study now.
One of the hardest ECON 351 professors but truly cares about her students
Hard class but one of the best professors I've ever had hands down. Don't be intimated by rumors of her, she's amazing! You will definitely learn a lot from her.
Oh my gosh guys do NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you want to exclusively work on econ for the semester! I've never worked so hard in my life to get a B+. This class broke me down. I am saying this out of genuine concern for anyone who cares about their grades and sanity: do not take this class.
Professor Durguner taught everything really clear in the class and she gave a lot of feedback to students. The ppt and non-graded assignment is really helpful when you are reviewing your exams and quiz. Recommend to take this course.
She's great. The material is not easy and she does 3 midterms + final + online assignments every week, which may seem a lot, but she does her best to make everything clear since day one and help students . Using the textbook is not necessary, just go to class and take notes. Very accessible in office hours and overall great person and professor.
This class was very very hard. I worked on ECON 24/7 and ended up getting a B+. She is a nice teacher and cares about her students but honestly, I would just take an easier teacher. It was always a bummer seeing my friends taking easier teachers pulling solid A's in their econ classes. Her class is doable but you really need to have the work ethic.
Professor Durguner is a really knowledgable and demanding professor. She expects you to work hard, review everything and genuinely study and learn more about ECON. Work hard and you will get an A. Homework hardly accounts for anything, 3 Midterms+ 1 final counts for 92% of the grade. Just do everything she asks you to, which is kinda doable
Everyone I talked to said to switch out of Prof. Durguner's class, and I am SO glad I didn't. The class definitely teaches you how to study, but she genuinely cares about your success. She pays attention if you show up or not and will recognize you in class. The material is hard but if you pay attention you WILL learn it. 10/10 one of my fav profs!
Durguner's class was one of those rare classes where you actually learn. Sure the content itself and her tests are pretty conceptually difficult, but she was an amazing professor. She's extremely thorough in her lectures, yet often let us out early, and while approachable, has strict policies. Take her class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Durguner's class was definitely the most difficult course that I have ever taken. That being said, she is one of the nicest people ever and she is a great professor. The midterms are tough and you definitely have to study, but you will learn a lot. If you want to be challenged, take her class.
She is very tough. There are no electronics allowed in her class and her lectures are fast pace and you really have to be paying attention and attend every lecture. While she is very intimidating you learn a lot from her. I feel I have mastered micro econ. She gives a lot of advise on how to study and succeed in her class. Her tests are challenging
Professor Durguner is undoubtedly one of the best instructors that I have had. She gives you all the resources to succeed in the class and truly cares about her students. As long as you put in the effort, stay determined, and listen to her advice, you can do well in the class. Overall, her class was a very rewarding experience.
Professor Durguner's 351 class was very straightforward; it was comprised of exams and homework assignments which were graded promptly. She provides all the materials needed to succeed, so it's on the student to consistently review the material and apply the concepts. I do wish the class encouraged more group work since it was all individual-based.
Gives you all the resources (practice problems) you need to ensure you understand. Solid course, but easy to get lost in calculation and not understanding the concepts if you skip class. Would highly recommend going to lecture. Good course and professor.
An average, old-fashioned professor and a nice person. Beware of her prodigious amount of but entirely useless mendatory homeworks that counted for 15%. Ironically, the most useful materials were her non-graded assignments. To do well in this class, a lot of studying and reviewing is necessary. I'd probably have done better if I had more time.
Her class is extremely straightforward in its grading criteria. To be succesful you need to really work on the practice problems out of class and study the lecture slides. The lectures themselves are dreadful, but you really dont need to go as long as you study hard out of class.
Took her for 351 and decided to take her for 352 again. Isn't very hard to get a B but is very difficult to get an A. There are so many easier teachers to take for Macro that I wouldn't recommend her for this class. Macro is supposed to be the easier class but she makes it so difficult.
Professor Durguner provides all the materials needed to do well in this class. The non-graded assignments are extremely helpful because the test questions are very similar to those. Doing these practice problems over and over again can get you an A in this class.
I had Prof. Durguner for Micro and decided to take her again for macro and am proud of my decision. She could be one of the harder professors to take for macro but its all worth it in the end because you'll also learn the most from her. Focuses on understanding more than memorising which is what you'll need in the real world. Never skip non gradeds
Took prof Durguner for both Micro and Macro. Wasnt a huge fan of how she taught Macro because she focused a lot on numbers and not as much on the general concepts. I felt I learnt too many formulas and not the big picture. However, still recommend her, very nice person, accessible, extremely fair and clear grading criteria. Tough class overall.
Prof. Durguner truly wants you to do well; all tests are reminded frequently and there are "non-graded assignments" that you MUST do to succeed. Although tests are difficult (Economics is complex in nature), but they are not unreasonable, people still get 100% with decent preparation. Also, the curve will save you!
Prof Durguner really cares about her students. She remembers each students' names and really hopes the best for her students. She offers reasonable amount of work and is willing to help. She expects her students to be responsible for their own work yet she still tries her best to provide useful materials that will help students with exams.
Prof. Durguner's class is one where you have to really work for your grade. If you don't put in the effort to follow with her lectures and learn from the non-graded assignments/myEconLab exercises, you probably won't do very well. However, if you put in the effort and listen in class, she will clarify a lot of concepts and help you understand Econ.
Prof. Durguner is a great professor who really cares for students genuinely. I took her ECON 351 in 2015 and ECON352 in 2017. First, the MyEconlab assignments are really helpful and prepare you for exams. Also, she clarifies concepts during lectures, so if you attend lectures (though she does not take attendance) and do assignments, you'll be fine.
Professor Durguner was the best teacher I have had in college. Her lectures are clear and to the point. All of the materials tested on the exams is on the slides. If you put in the effort to succeed (office hours & studying throughout), you WILL do well. She instilled proper work ethic in me. She is the type of teacher that makes USC seem worth it.
Professor Durguner was the best professor that I could have taken for this course. She does not let you use your phone or laptop during lecture, but that allowed me to pay attention even more. She is clear in her lecture, slides, and answering of questions. She gives you every resource that you need to succeed though you have to put in the effort.
Like her as a person, but not as a professor. Without reading before the class, I would not understand her lectures.
Professor Durguner is a nice and passionate person, but in my opinion her class was much harder than it needed to be. The homework did not translate to the tests at all, and the lectures were inflexible and confusing. I had the opportunity to drop this class and take it with another professor, and it is MUCH more manageable. Avoid if you can.
As a professor, Sena is a good one because she is enthusiastic and welcomes all questions. But her class is really hard, academically. Also, a lot of homework. Typically, I spent at least four hours on each chapter's homework and two more on the pre-lecture quizzes. Her class requires extremely hard work and a lot of time
Usually, the material is not too different among different classes, so the difficulty is similar. Sena Durguner can be a solid choice because she explains everything in detail and welcomes students to ask questions. For a "hard-core" class like ECON 351, I think Sena can help you learn the material well. But make sure you invest enough time on it
Really good professor, take if you are taking ECON352. As long as you show up to class and study moderately, you will get a good grade. Group projects are a little bit of a hassle though.
Professor Durguner clearly laid out course expectations at the beginning of the semester. She provided the necessary resources to prepare, and was very accessible outside of class through office hours and by email. It is evident that she cares about her students. The tests were challenging, but if you work hard and put the time in you will do well.
Professor Durguner is one of best professors in USC. She is very clear about the material she needs to cover, very caring for the students and pretty helpful. I took Econ 352 this year. Even though it is not an easy class, I really learnt a lot after the whole semester. I have to say thank you to this wonderful professor!
The Eco352 class so enjoyable! With more concepts but less calculations compared to 351, Sena taught it wonderfully by laying all concepts in her slides; doing an amazing job in walking us through the calculation steps. She is also such a positive and dedicated person who loves her students and inspires you day after day. Love her and Eco!
Professor Durguner has high expectations for her students and provides all the materials needed for success such as lecture slides, HW assignments, practice problems, etc. Lectures are thorough but long. The workload is very manageable but you will have to study hard for the midterms/final. Her class is great because you are rewarded for hard work.
Professor Durguner is definitely one of the best professors at USC. Having had her for both ECON 351 and 352, I feel like I have learned so much, especially about managing my time. Professor Durguner truly cares about her students and wants them to do well. She gives you all the resources to do well in the class. I highly recommend her class!
Eco 351 has many calculations and could be a tough class for some. But Senas lecture goes through everything with detail and with sufficient pre-study, its definitely doable. The tests are not very easy but they are truly fair in the way that it really tests you on all lecture material and practice questions. Work hard and you will learn a lot!
Great Professor! Although the exams are on the difficult side, she gives you the resources you will need ti do well (if you work hard). She is also very willing to help you throughout the semester.
Very caring professor, she really wants all her students to learn. However, her class is structured like high school where she will call you out on being on your phone or dozing off. She is extremely strict with hw, and generates really challenges tests. Although she is a great professor, you will work MUCH harder with her than with other profs.
It was a pleasure to be in Professor Durguner's class for ECON 352. She patiently explained and reviewed each concept, supplementing our learning experience with examples. My favorite part about the course was its straightforwardness; Durguner provides all the materials necessary for success and continuously motivates her students to work harder.
Professor Durguner, although well-known for being one of the more difficult instructors within Marshall, is undoubtedly the best professor I have had at USC. She is ostensibly invested in her students' success and takes strides to ensure that each student achieves the grade that he or she desires. Her exams, while difficult, instill commitment.
Without a doubt the best professor I've had at USC. If you want to learn Finance or Economics, take Durguner. Yes her class is hard, but she provides ample resources for you to succeed and explains the concepts very well.
Professor Durguner is awesome! Her class is extremely difficult but you will learn a lot.
Sena is an incredible professor. Her class is super tough and definitely a challenge, however, she is extremely committed to teaching finance and being helpful to her students. 10/10 recommend
Great class! Everything is covered in lecture. To nail the test, make sure you complete all the non-graded assignments! They are really similar and provide really solid practice. Attendance is not required, but all concepts are taught clearly in the lectures.
Best professor I met so far at USC. She literally memorized everybodys name, and gives valuable feedback to us after exams. As long as you do the non graded assignment and know how to solve for each problem, exams will be easy
Sena is an excellent professor for BUAD306. She explained concepts in a very clear way so that students can really understand those concepts rather than pure memorization. Besides, she is very approachable and responded emails in time. I definitely recommend her for your 306!
Sena is my favorite professor I've had so far in Marshall. She explains everything very well and has lots of practice problems available. She is very helpful during office hours and truly wants her students to succeed. Sena is the perfect professor to take if you are serious about your education and want to learn.
It's clear that Sena cares about her students and wants them to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. The tests are challenging, but if you attend lectures and do the non-graded problems, you can do well. If you're willing to put the work in, this is a course where you will really learn and understand the information being taught.
Very tricky exercises and tests that force you to really use your brain. The lectures are not exciting and pretty long, which is why I didn't give a 5. Take the class if you want to challenge yourself
Professor Durguner designs the course heavily based on student's effort during and after class. If you attend the class and study the material regularly, you will earn a good grade (A- or A). She will only test you similar types of questions from non-graded questions she posted online. If you practice enough, all exams are fair to earn good grades.
I got a poor grade on the first exam and went to her for help and study tips to improve my results and I noticed a dramatic increase in my grade. She is very kind and really does want you to do well. Her lectures are easy to follow and she explains all the complex concepts well, but you do need to put in the effort to see the results.
Professor Durguner is very kind, helpful and responsible during the whole semester. She gave us lots of study sets, homework assignments and other opportunities to practice the concepts we learnt in class. Her lecture notes are extremely helpful and we could truly learnt a lot during the semester.
This is a VERY DIFFICULT class. If you want to do well, you need to study A LOT. 92% of your grade is based on 3 exams and a final. She posts all of the lecture slides and practice Q's online, which is helpful. You should also be highly motivated: she is a very kind person, but her lectures are dry (she rarely shows videos, uses humor, etc.).
Sena is incredibly kind and intelligent. Her expectations for ECON 351 are very clear. She posts lots of practice questions and all lectures on Blackboard. Although the class is one of the most difficult classes I've ever taken, it taught me how to manage my time. If you put the work in, you will really gain an in-depth understanding of Microecon.
Professor Durguners class is definitely difficult, but she gives you all of the resources you need to perform well and learn macroeconomics in depth. She wants her students to work hard for their grade, but she is very supportive and wants her students to succeed. Tips: read the textbook, do all of the non-graded (in advance), and ask for help!
Prof. Durguner is an amazing professor to take. I highly recommend taking micro or macro with her. She knows the content very well, is always accessible to answer questions, and is able to actually explain the content in depth. In order to do well, do all of the assignments and SHOW UP TO LECTURE.
Don't take this class if you are afraid of hard work. Take this class if you want a solid foundation of macro. The homework is very time consuming and the tests are incredibly difficult, however I left with a great understanding of difficult yet very important economic concepts. I think its worth it to suffer and learn from her for just 1 semester
Prof Durguner is one of the best professors I've taken at USC. Her exams are by no means easy, but you will get what you put in. She's very caring and I genuinely learned a lot from her.
Prof Durguner is one of the best profs at Marshall. Difficult exams - she really tests if you have a thorough understanding of the concepts (not memorization). You will get what you put in. Don't take her if you want an easy A, but if you genuinely want to learn, she's definitely THE ONE. You'll be left with a solid foundation of macroeconomics.
I've taken 352 and 306 with her. Both of her classes are challenging, but they are super straightforward. You have to work for a good grade, but it's definitely possible to get an A in the class. Tips for both classes: - do NOT skip lecture - do all of the lecture + non-graded questions - the textbook isn't that helpful PS: Sena is super sweet.
She explains concepts really well in class and office hours. If you take her class, be ready to spend time reviewing and practicing, even when there's not an exam coming up soon.
She is a great professor that explains the concepts well. You definitely need to put in the work and do practice questions, but as long as you do so and take notes on the printed out ppt during lecture then it's definitely manageable to do well. Go to office hours for questions; she definitely wants her students to do well.
Professor Durguner has all the qualities of a great teacher. She is clear during lectures, her homework is super helpful for acing exams, and she is super reachable outside of class. She is kind, inspiring, and tries to helps students to succeed beyond her own class. She's a controversial teacher but also the best choice for hard working students.
She is a great professor at USC. she makes students study hard and take more knowledge out of the class. you have to do lots of study for a good grade, but it worth it. she is also a good human being.
Professor Durgurner is a great professor who makes learning micro economics a lot easier. The class has 3 midterms, one final, & online quizzes which aren't too bad if you do her non-graded practice questions and visit her during office hours when you're confused. The class definitely isn't an easy A but if you put in the work it won't be too bad.
Very dry lectures that are hard to focus on. When you do pay attention get ready for her to routinely mess up examples & need to be corrected by students. If you want an A, skip her lectures as they make the intuitive course material much more confusing. Instead, rely on her lecture slides, practice tests, and better professors youtube videos.
Send Durguner is one of the worst teachers I have had in my days at USC. Her lectures are extremely long and boring with her accent making it impossible for you to understand what she is saying. On top of this are insanely difficult tests and quizzes that she expects you to do well on. She does not care if you fail. No empathy from her. Do not take
One of the best econ professors at USC. She makes you work for your grade and challenges you because she truly cares about her students and their success. A lot of outside work but if you put in the effort the class is easy. 3 Midterms, 1 Final, online assignments/quizzes. First-class at USC, I actually feel like I learned something. Love you Sena!
Professor Durguner is very caring and supportive. She cares about everyone in the class. I have taken both of her micro and macro because the course materials are well organized and clear. Grading is clear. Be prepare to be challenged and work hard. Definitely not an easy class but you will be rewarded.
Professor Durguner's ECON 351 & ECON 352 were excellent, straightforward classes. All needed material to do well was provided. The tests were based on the lecture slides she provides and the practice questions for each chapter are very similar to the exams. This class is very easy to do well if you utilize all materials. Very respected professor!
Professor Durguner is one of the best Econ professors at USC. Her class is very straightforward and she clearly explained each concept and the example questions are very useful. If you study the non-grade set problems, you can get a good grade on mid-terms and finals. I would love to take her class again.
Prof. Durguner is one of the best professors at Marshall and you will learn more from her class than any other section. She is extremely accessible and prepares you for the real world. She goes into depth with each topic and makes sure you understand the course material. She is very kind & caring and loves to get to know her students and help them.
The subject is tough, Sena is tougher. She really knows what she's doing, but sometimes the speed of her lectures makes it borderline impossible to follow. She is accessible outside class though and makes sure that you understand the material if you come for help. Her classes are hard, but not impossible if you're ready to work your butt off.
Professor Durguner is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is extremely caring and wants her students to do well. You definitely have to work for your grade though, as you should since this is college. But do the extra assignments she has on Blackboard and keep up with the homework and you can easily get a great grade.
Really great teacher! Concepts are explained very well in class (even if the lectures are boring). You can do well if you pay attention in lecture and study before exams.
Although the class itself is hard, Sena is a great professor. ECON351 itself is very dense and concept-heavy but Sena always tried to make the material easy to understand. Evident that she cares about her students a lot.
This class is super hard not going to lie, but Professor Durguner is willing to help you if you don't understand things. 3 midterms, a final, and weekly online homework assignments that are all really difficult. Definitely requires a ton of studying and not an easy A. She is pretty nice but makes it known that the class is tough.
This class broke me down. The lectures were long and dry, the 3 midterms+1 final were extremely difficult, and homework was demanding + only counted for 10% of our grade. Prof. D gives tools to succeed (office hours, practice problems/quizzes), but her material is so confusing that success is unpredictable. Beware the cumulative closed-note final.
Finance is hard, but Sena Durguner will carry you through this class with her detail orientated lectures, inspirational encouragement, and utter commitment to helping you get an A in this class despite the forced Marshall Curve. In her class, be prepared to be challenged, but also be prepared to get a thorough understanding of fundamental finance
Professor Sena is a wonderful professor who cares a lot about students. She provides clear instruction throughout the semester and she is always there for you to help. As long as you pay attention to the lecture, do non-graded assignments without procrastinating till the end, and utilize office hour for any questions, you will do well in class.
Professor Durguner is def a solid choice. She is very knowledgeable and explains everything slow and clear to help you understand. Her exams are really reflective of her lectures and the non-graded sets. She is very accessible outside class and wants to see you make progress and truly learn in her class. Highly recommend.
Professor Durguner is amazing for 351/352. She is very clear/direct and grading is as expected. Grades are based on the 3 midterms and final for the most part which are very clear. All info is based on slides she goes over in lectures & posts on blackboard. Practice MC is provided which are similar to exams. East to do well if you put in effort.
Professor Durguner was very helpful whenever I needed it. I recommend taking this and be prepared to put in work.
This was my second time taking a class with Professor Durguner and while the material is heavy, the professor does a good job of explaining concepts and helping students.
Professor Durguner taught 352 very well. 352 has more concepts to understand and memorize but by learning them I found I understood much more about how macroeconomic works. You can always send email to professor and go to her office hour. She is always there to help you.
Professor Durguner is truly amazing. She makes sure everyone can understand the content, she thoroughly answers questions, and she is always available for students that want help. Professor Durguner outlines clearly what you need to do to succeed in her class. As long as you put in the work, you will do well.
Professor Durguner taught Econ 352 remarkably well. By nature, it is a tough class and you will have to work for your grade, but Professor Durguner helps students as much as she possibly can. She is a great lecturer and makes sure her students understand the content. She encourages questions and is also available outside of class for extra help.
ECON352 is one of the toughest classes at Marshall. However, Prof. Durguner makes you understand as much as possible given that you put in your effort. The lectures are dry, and you could get bored pretty easily; but I feel like there is no clearer way to explain concepts in ECON352. Do the non graded assignments and dont get lazy (like me)!
This course is challenging, but it's manageable. There are other professors who will be much easier, but I'd recommend this class if you want to push yourself and truly learn the content. Read textbook before lecture. Exams are challenging but Non-Graded Assignment is very helpful. Be careful with the final. Study way before since it's cumulative.
Will take a lot of time and effort, but worth it. 352 has a group project, but it's not something to worry about too much. Exams are challenging, but the non-graded assignments are very helpful. Still need to understand the content, not just memorizing NGA. Read before class. Material builds on itself so don't fall behind. Study way before final.
It's great pleasure to have ECON 352 with Professor Sena. She is really caring and have clear logic to explain the materials, so it would be very important to attend her lectures even though it's not part of your grade and sometimes it's hard to get up very early. But taking classes and doing exercises would definitely help you succeed in class.
I personally believe it's a hard course compared to 351. But Professor Sena did an amazing job in explaining the materials clearly and she is also very accessible outside the class. The lectures are extremely important, so attending lectures is very important and working through worksheets and get problems understood will make it easier for you.
Professor Sena is an amazing professor, she did a really good job in explaining the materials and she is the best professor I have ever met throughout my college life. I personally believe 351 is an easy subject but attending lectures is still very important, at the same time, working through the worksheets will prepare you better for exams.
My experience was awful. I left every lecture with a false sense of understanding. Sena explained things that could probably be explained in a few simple sentences in what felt like the most confusing way possible. I understand that the material is already difficult, however, she struggled with providing a clear understanding of anything to us.
This class is certainly difficult; however, Professor Durguner gives students plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practice, which should make it easier. She encourages lecture attendance because it's easy to fall behind in the class. For me, completing the practice problems ahead of the tests made them much easier to navigate.
I am so grateful that I had Durguner as a professor. The material was challenging without a doubt, but her thorough lectures and explanations made microeconomics accessible. She is kind, caring, and inspirational. She always stayed after class to clear up any questions. The best part is that she teaches you how to study effectively for success.
I found that macroeconomics with Durguner was interesting and engaging. For me, I found that the macro material was easier than micro due to Professor Durguner's inclusion of real-life applications. She made the transition to online learning super easily and not much changed. I still learned the material thoroughly and I feel confident in macro.
This class is generally very difficult as is macroeconomics. Sena doesn't make it very easy by assigning 200-300 practice questions for each exam before you take it. She is caring and nice in office hours and is dedicated to providing studying discipline; however, the workload required to get a top grade in the class is insane.
class is set so you spend the 2 hour lecture copying notes and then learning it urself at home. It could just be her style of teaching doesn't fit my way of learning, but i think this class sucks.
goal of class is to put as much time into probs as u can. Its so that u become good enough to notice little/combined/reverse changes when the day comes. Rehearse the probs. 8 probs a day> have 2 weeks b4 midterm day to timed-practice-quiz yourself. Marshall curve is neutralized bc lotta probs + 80-90% ppl last-second the whole class.
She taught me about inflation in this class. I didn't really understand it until I saw her RMP score. Please ask around before choosing her. Your upperclassmen will give you better advice than these ratings.
Professor Durguner is really good! If you try in her class and do all the practice you will do well! She was always ready to help and would always answer questions in class. Her lectures are long but she does make it interactive. I would really recommend her!
I have taken both Micro and Macro with Professor Durguner. She is very clear in her expectation and accessible outside of class; she really wants the best for her students! If you are struggling, she is always accessible outside of class. The workload can be heavy at times, but you will actually learn in this class rather than regurgitate factoids.
Professor Durguner cared about her students a lot to succeed in her class. She makes sure that each of her students is able to understand the material through her homework and also non graded assignment. If you put the work in, you will definitely succeed in her class.
One of the best professors I have ever met! She is extremely organized and friendly!
You should be prepared to work hard. That said, if you really want to learn something and challenge yourself, I would recommend this class. There are a lot of resources that you can utilize outside of the class for your success. On top of that, this class helps you a lot to gain not only book knowledges but also real-life applicable knowledges
Professor Durguner gives her students strong grades if she clearly sees them work for it. Do ALL OF THE NON GRADED SETS, YES ALL OF THEM! Close to 0 textbook use, so her class is very lecture heavy. However, she is PHENOMENAL at what she does, and I wouldn't hesitate to take her class again. The A is definitely accessible to those who work for it.
I took her last semester for ECON 351, she was so tough. Her exams were so confusing and its extremely difficult to get help in her class. I seriously dreaded going to class, because its so easy to get lost. Even when you go to office hours for the TA, he'll confuse you even more. If you can, avoid this professor. You deserve better.
Good, not great. Tests were much more difficult than ECON 351 for me, more math based, especially with Durguner. Her lectures are alright, and she's willing to help. People say her tests are harder than other ECON professors, averages are very low on tests, huge curve.
Great professor. Very organized class and all of the information you need for tests are on her slides and the nongraded practice provided - just practice with that and you should be all set!
Best Professor I ever had at USC. Explain difficult/challenging concepts clearly. Very organized and provide detailed instructions on project/homework. STRONGLY recommended if you wish to take this class.
This class is considered one of the hardest at Marshall, but it is very doable. The professor is extremely kind and energetic, she is always open to answering questions and interacting with the class. She prepares her class perfectly for the exam by non-graded assignments. Flipped class is sometimes hard to have motivation...
BEST PROFESSOR AT MARSHALL! She is simply amazing at what she does and cares about her students immensely. Her only goal is make sure that her students learn. She explains every concept in great depth and is very accessible in office hours. Because she added more material than previous semesters, she also made the class super easy. Thank you Prof!
Professor Durguner is very caring and makes sure all her students understand the topic. Attending lectures is not required, but definitely talk to her if you have a question. The flip class is not ideal, but she made the most of the situation. Answering her non-graded sets is the best way to prepare for her exams.
Professor Durguner was a great professor. Econ 351 is a challenging class, but Professor Durguner does a good job explaining the material. I took her class online due to the pandemic so the in-person experience may be different. Overall, she is a great option for a pretty difficult class.
Love her & TA. I started out hating this class b/c I never learned econ before and it was hard to grasp initially, but her well-explained lectures and helpful non-graded assignments made the class a lot better and somewhat easier than expected. She speaks at a followable speed with comprehensible vocabs. Tests are really similar to non-graded.
The lectures were not particularly interesting or engaging, but the class was straightforward. Youre graded by weekly summary papers of video lessons, midterms, and the final exam. If you do the non-graded practice sets and make the effort to understand each problem, you will do fine on the exams.
Great and caring professor! She teaches with a lot of energy and is always available to answer any questions that you may have. She is super nice and tries to make her lectures interesting and engaging. If you just do her assigned assignments and read her lecture slides, you will do great in her class.
