hes sooooooooooooooooooooo hard
I liked him a lot...studied hard an got an A...very good teacher
Really knows his stuff and always answers students' questions. A little hard to understand, so you have to pay attention to the lecture. The exams were mixed, the first two were easy, and the last two were extremely hard.
Disregard all of the previous ratings about this professor, at least half of the class including myself was forced to drop his class. His accent is just as bad as his attitude toward students (Everything is common sense according to him). Tests are on the material he gives, yet he makes them tricky
hard to understand b/c of his accent, but if you attend class regularly and take good notes you can do well. take him only if you can learn concepts; if you're into memorizing then get out now. nice teacher, but very intellectually demanding of his students. study, take notes, and GO TO CLASS.
you will get used to his accent if you concentrate. learned a lot, but tests are very tricky. you really have to know yoru material to do well. but its not impossible. oh yes, make sure you go to class
its a hard class but its do-able. u need to go to class n study.... really need to understand everything.. hes tricky but really not out to get u.. he tries to sound really strict but he really doesnt want to fail anyone.
Lin is a good teacher. Like the other comments: hes not out to fail you, the material is very difficult and you must really study it in order to understand it.
He's a tough teacher, but he's fair. He'll give you the grade that you deserve. His accent is a bit tough on understand at first, but once you get used to it, its not so bad. If you study for this class, its not too bad. It's really important that you go to class though. Otherwise, its a lot harder.
his hard, tricky..but he does knows about his own stuff, very smart professor. if got any question, ask him, he'll give u an answer. he's hard but he doesn't want to fail anyone. he just wanted you to know the material ..that's all~ hard but do-able~
OK, I don't know why people recommend him as a prof. This is the only class I ever failed, and most of my classmates either failed or dropped him mid-semester. No other Pharm. 1 teacher has this many complaints. If you can, avoid this guy at all costs and you'll enjoy this semester much more.
he has no respect for students and sometimes answers questions in a demeaning fashion. bad attitute, bad accent, and a bad professor.
he's okay
He's definitely a hard professor. his tests are hard, his accent is hard to understand, and he's a bad professor. you're better off droppin the course, or not taking him at all.
Very difficult..memorize all slide notes..nothing will be given on exam, no formulas or tables..must know everything..no curve..no extra points..cannot be reasoned with..will pick on kids randomely for answers at times..asking questions can be more than bargained for cuz if u ask 1 question, he'll ask u 3 questions back..good luck
do you speak Chinese? if you don't, don't take this class...also if you normally don't get 100s in all your other classes, expect a D+
He's got a pretty thick accent but a week into class you'll prob get used to it - it's a lot better than most! His tests are VERY tricky because he'll pick out the smallest details to ask questions but while in class, he is very helpful. He'll rexplain something if he has the time, and if not after class. He does cares for student progress.
Need to go to class, need to study. Tests are difficult but can be done with lots of studying. Prof. has thick accent that takes a class or two to get used to. Pretty funny in class but all business when grading.. no curve.
WORST teacher i've ever had - absolutely no curving - thick accent - just horrible.
pretty tricky but not completely unfair. you can manage.
Can't understand his accent for sh*t he needs to go back to china..fails students with 59.9 and doesn't care about student progress..tests are impossible and he tries to trick you by using wrong units..worst teacher at st johns by far..avoid him
study study study!!! whatever you learn the day of the class, go home and study!! try to study everything on the slides..even numbers!!
Lin is not hard at all. he gives you the grade you deserve. study and dont fall behind. everythgin is in the notes. memorize everything. hes hard to understand at first but after a while, its ok. get on his good side beucase he likes smart kids
His final is HARD!!!!!! His concept questions sometimes seem to come out of nowhere too but if he tells you to memorize something from the powerpoint, MEMORIZE IT. He teaches well but his tests are NOT easy.
so far so good. he explains things clearly. just pay attention
ok heres the deal... hes not hard if u study.. u dont have to read the book just go to class and write down what he says and pay attention. for the tests study his slides and lectures inside and out and UNDERSTAND them. the questions come straight from that. if u know ur stuff hes just a reg pharm prof. key word... KNOW UR STUFF.. u cant read over
His finals are a nightmare!!! Beware of that last exam!
He's kinda hard cause he has a lot of tricks in his exams. Pay attention to his explanations in class cuz it shows up on his tests. Also memorize his slides.. and take advantage of the extra credit. You need all u can get .. don't mess that up for yourself.
He's a really good professor. He makes you know the material because you have to apply everything you learn in the profession. He makes you earn your grade. Listen to him, read the book, notes are optional(I didn't need them), and most importantly try to understand everything he's teaching (really helpful on ec quizes btw. then you'll get an A =D
Very good teacher with very straight forward test. Every question comes from the book problems or his lectures just know everything in his notes and the tests are easy. With that said if you do not study alot you will fail. Understanding everything is key.
his lectures are very helpful and he gives you everything you need to know for the tests - reading the textbook is optional. some of the questions are tricky but there are no surprises. the extra credits are a good incentive for keeping up with the coursework. A++ professor
His tests are pretty hard. You gotta study a lot to do well and even though he doesn't take attendence you still gotta go to class or you probably will fail. Before the test do EVERY practice problem in the textbook. Oh yea and he says "What I mean?" and "Over there" 1000x per class it's pretty funny
He's the best Pharmaceutics professor. Make sure u take really good notes, and write down everything he says. His tests can be a little tricky, so make sure u UNDERSTAND wat's going on. If u understand, then u'll be good. Write good notes. Go to every class b/c he offers extra credit and it really helps. Memorize the slides too =)
biopharmaceutics is a hard class, but he does teach it well. u have to study or u will fail. unlike squillante and madan u will learn something and it will be useful in ur pharmacy career
hard professor, but teaches very well. exams are hard and tricky. take really good notes in class, b/c he will ask them on the exam. also, read the book (esp. if he says to read it, b/c he does put material from there on the test).
He IS a difficult professor, but a great teacher. He has an accent, but it grows on you. I had him for both terms of pharmaceutics. He gives quizzes for extra credit (he used to ask questions in class for extra credit, but stopped bc it was the same people answering). His tests are FAIR, but you will need to read the book if he mentions it.
Lin packs many tricks up his sleeves, but is a very likable professor for those willing to learn. Must practice every math problem in the book, and one MAJOR HINT: this class is a preparation for the NAPLEX. Read BEFORE every lecture, since Extra Credit is based upon it. Raise your hand, speak your voice, and be active... not annoying. Oh, STUDY!!!
the "smart" kids still do awesome and often may have highly inflated grades (over 100) due to EC. if ur not smart, take EVERY advantage of EC. and even tho he says memorizing isnt that important, memorize the slides and record him, and u shud be fine. i studied hard and got a B-. concept killed me. hardest ceutics prof fo sho. put this class first.
The material is pretty difficult and dense, but Lin manages to make it understandable and is very funny in class. The best part of his exams is that they are not K type questions, so if you arent a fan of those, you'll find Lin your cup of tea. he is also very open to questions during his office hours, and will try his best to help you. Excellent!
His tests are tricky, but has no K types. Make sure you understand the concept. The extra credit helps you a lot. Read ahead and answer questions in class. He is one of the better pharmaceutics professors. Makes the class entertaining, but he does speak fast. If you are smart, you can get A.
I failed his class and now I have to pay 10 grand for summer classes since they don't let you take ceutics 2 in the spring if you fail ceutics 1 ... this class is for the clever minded only. His questions are very tricky and multi-multi step. Extra credit helps but only if you get each and every one. Cares very little for students. Beware.
his classes require a LOT of studying and tricky test q's can get annoying...BUT i disagree with the comment about not caring...his lectures helped me understand the material better and he respects and caters to both "smart" students and those who are barely passing
Some professors value calculation skills of a student more than he's diligence; Lin is one of them. And, he's blind to cheating; so, if you can sit beside a smart student during quiz, midterm and final, WOW~~lucky you!! You can get an "A"!! Conclusion: not stupid + cheating = A
His questions are state board exam level and and his textbook is a must. The math you remember from pharmaceutics 1 will NOT be enough to save you here. You need to be able to apply the math to prescriptions, and his textbook is immensely helpful in showing you how. His concepts Qs are designed to trick you, and his extra credit is all or nothing.
Skip class and you will not pass. I literally studied day and night for his exams but managed to pull off a C+. You MUST read and solve the textbook questions, attend class to learn and take extra credit quizzes, and email him! Hes really nice :)
Don't whine if you take his class. This is the only biopharm professor that will prepare you for your boards, Pharm school is NOT a joke so don't whine about his class.
This professor prepared me for my boards. The BEST teacher in stjohns.
First of all biopharm is NOT a big part on the boards. I only had 5 biopharm questions out of 185 total naplex questions. Whoever wrote those last 2 ratings is a liar. Board prep isnt done thru a prof ppl thats something u do on ur own
Do the math problems ahead of class so you can get as many EC points you can. This matters from beginning to end. The exams will be easier for you if you practice all the Calc questions and memorize his slides for the concept questions. I think more people would've done better if he had explained the formatting of the test better.
GET EVERY SINGLE EXTRA CREDIT POINT YOU CAN BECAUSE YOU WILL DEF NEED IT. He prides himself on being one of the hardest profs in SJU. HIGHLY RECOMMEND SWITCHING OUT OF HIS CLASS.
Best professor at st. john's. He's super smart and knows so much about biopharmaceutics. There are people that do get A's on his exams so don't listen to those puny reviewers who ended up failing the course and blame the professor. ;)
His class is really hard but he's happy to spend as much time as you need to help you. A bit harsh but really wants you to learn what you need to know for when you graduate. Pulls questions right out of the textbook and changes numbers, will give you all the information for each exam right at the start. You come out a stronger student in general.
Class was kind of hard but he's really a good professor. Explains everything well, very patient with the students and will work through whatever question you have. Very good with emails, you can send him any questions you have with the content and he will reply. Tough class but very good professor.
I'm sure Professor Lin is a good guy with good intentions, but unfortunately it is nearly impossible to understand him. The man has a very thick accent, and having to learn this class online makes it even harder to understand. He spends a lot of time going into detail about things that aren't on the slides, which makes it hard to know what to study
He wants you to learn but he is so difficult to understand because of his extremely thick accent. I've never complained about an accent but his is very difficult to allow understanding of material. Plus the textbook is not available anywhere so we're in a limbo. Frustrating class.
Avoid this man at all costs. Regardless of the fact that you can barely understand him, he is a professor that will purposely trick you and make your life difficult. Some questions on his test have absolutely nothing to do with material learned in class, and often the right answer may seem obvious but he'll change a word or two to throw you off.
The typical, huge ego pharmaceutics department professor. Incredibly difficult to understand a word he says; almost comical accent. Horribly complex, unorganized lectures that confuse most students. Makes the simplest concept seem incredibly difficult to trick students. Does not expect students to do well. Just avoid this headache of a "professor".
It's really a joke how St. John's hires professors that can barely even speak English. Lin is practically impossible to understand, and to make it worse he purposely will trick you on the test. Goes into so much detail on topics that should be simple, it makes you wonder what you even need to study.
He will fail you. He loves to fail students and if you have him get out. He does not care if students fail he just needs a Student to pass!
Just save your time & drop the class. His tests are legit from the textbook word for word to the minute detail. He just changes one word & asks which of the following statements is false. More than 1/2 of the class had to drop. Worst professor ever.
By far one of the worst professors in the school. If you have biopharma on mondays/thursdays 3:25-4:50, drop the class. please don't put yourself through hell, all this man does is scribble and more scribble.
Knowing your material is one thing, but knowing how to teach is another. Pharmacy department doesnt exactly have the best teachers but avoid this one as best as you can.
Terrible professor!!!! The class average for all three tests ranged from 54 to 69. Cant teach for the life of him. No one can understand him because of his accent and his two masks. So many people failed his class its ridiculous. Hes funny tho and does extra credit quizzes that are really hard with no partial credit. Good luck if u have him :/
Extremely heavy accent and does not know how to teach his point across. There is a lot of confusion during his lectures and there is no way to understand him. I should have dropped when I could've but he made it seem like passing was still possible with the extra credit quizzes but his exams are extremely difficult. Literally half the class failed.
While he is a tough grader, and can be tough to understand at times (you will get used to his accent), he does care about students understanding the material. I recommend going to class because he explains alot of the conceptual and mathematical concepts in class. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS IN THE TEXTBOOK! He really is sweet and down to earth!
this was such a disspointing class
Its wild how Sh*t Johns tenures guys like this that dont speak English- the dude sounds like the Uncle from the Jackie Chan Anime. He needs to Retire for FFS hes done enough failing
I bought the old tests because I had zero clue what the F he was saying in class. Get the exams from previous years kiddies! Only way to pass! Dont even try to do well with this guy because you wont-honestly expect to fail or drop the class if you have him, but hey! Thats sju for you
Please be aware, your gpa will drop taking this course unless you are dedicating all your time to only this class. Very difficult course, stay away if u can. Does not have sympathy for anyone. Gives 3 hard exams STUDY.
You need to put work in if you want to do well. His exams require a lot of time and patience to study for. A lot of practice problems from the textbook are on the exams as well. He cannot teach a class very well, but he has office hours and answers emails quickly.
Difficult
this professor is unable to teach a class. He has hard time speaking english. Sju hires anyone and is the worst school to attend.
just took the hardest final ever Failed
Worst experience ever
this gave me flashbacks of KWON
nice guy and wants to see his students so well. he gives a lot of in class extra credit opportunities. that being said his tests are quite literally insane. if you understand the topics though it is doable to pass and extremely challenging to do well. go to every class bc he explains a lot of key concepts that show up on the exams. good luck
hard
difficult difficulty difficulties
Ex Alumni here. Guys like this are exactly why Im glad im done with Sh*t Johns and dont attend that effed up school.
great prof, good lectures. exams are difficult but you must know these things. He wants to keep the standard high for this profession and it is important to understand the concepts he teaches. He makes pharmacists great, He will make you increase the professional common sense that will be used throughout you're professional pharmacy life. Study !!!
Humans are so lost on this Earth that they forget they have to answer to the Lord one day. I send my deepest grievances to the One above to resolve what I can not here. There will be a day when he will be questioned for the years of tears from students. If you see this man on your schedule, drop out and switch ASAP.
compared to other teachers, insanely difficult.
retiring now, he will be missed. I wish you new kids wouldve experienced the horrors
One of the truly dedicated professors at St. John's, especially for PharmD majors. Ngl his class is tough, but I learned a lot. It's totally doable if you show up and pay attention P.S. Please don't retire—I want the newbies to feel the joy too!
