really annoying class quizzes every class
There are quizzes every class period that consist of 3 or 4 questions, but you get like 5 chances to pass them. She doesn't really teach. She has the TAs teach everything. She's basically there to yell at you if you leave early.
If you're not an independent person, this class isn't for you. We used a program called ALEKS, which I personally loved because I could go on my own pace, but most people hated it.
Dr. Kwon taught this class ineffectively. As the class was taught entirely by TA's, most days I didn't even see her. By simply working in class with no outside effort I was able to get 6 weeks ahead, yet was required to show up for daily quizzes and prevented from leaving early. Tests were a breeze. There was no inspiration to learn, excel, or try.
math is tough for me but she posts notes on webcourses and class participation is 5% but lectures are her going over notes only. homework weekly a lot but does test reviews and extra credit for tests. I passed with C but didn't like her lectures but grading is okay, she drops 1 test not the final.
She is such a sweet lady, and she explains her power-points very well. She posts all of the notes, STUDY GUIDES, and exam reviews online. The tests are easier than the homework, and they are great study tools. She gives a lot of extra credit!
She doesn't speak much english, and often doesn't understand what the students are asking when they ask questions. I taught a lot of this course to myself using the online textbook in WileyPlus- content was not hard, and sometimes her explanations helped, but otherwise, not really.
I've never usually had luck with math teachers, but this class was so incredibly aggravating. She would assign 35-40 homework assignments every week that would take an hour and a half or two hours. On top of that she would make you do a "home activity" and a "MALL activity" every single week. You basically only teach yourself every week.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money. Unless the have a strong understanding of trig and already memorized all the functions and all graphs associated with them you won't pass. She expects you to memorize too much for each test.
Gives quizzes for each class for attendance purposes and they're due each week. Homework has about 40-50 questions, but the due date isn't until your very last day of class, so it is very flexible. She goes step by step, provides her notes online, and provides a study guide before each exam. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to fail.
3 tests, 1 is dropped. in lecture she's good at explaining the material. you have to go bc she gives a code during class that you need to access the quizzes outside of class. there are 6 trys on each quiz and the exams are the quiz questions. she has a little accent but just pay attention, its not bad at all. easy A if you put some effort in!
If she wasn't so boring i would take her again. All class is, is going through practice problems then going home and doing homework. All the practice has helped me achieve an A, but not helped me stay awake in class. She is very kind and is always open to questions.
She was a very VERY boring lecture, I never paid attention but her exams were fairly decent if you study the content she posts and do her practices (similar to her exams). Trigonometry was just a heard subject itself that is why the course was slightly difficult. You also have to show up to class to get a code to do the activities though:(
Professor Kwon was the easiest math teacher iv'e has at UCF. Her notes are posted online and are exactly like the homework . The mall/home activities are short and are almost always the same questions you see on the test. The practice test are extra credit on the test and are super helpful when it comes to studying . This class was a super easy A.
She's a very nice professor. The class is easy if you put the work in. You have to go to every class to get the code for the home and mall activities (short quizzes). Homework is lengthy but all due at the end of the semester. Tests are based on the practice questions (1 of the 3 is dropped). Final is 30% of the grade and cumulative. Buy the e book
Prof. Kwon is one of the best math teachers at UCF. Gives opportunity to earn 5 EC points on every exam, including final. Posts lecture notes & final exam review online. Exams match the content she says to study, so no surprises. Wileyplus homework all due at the end of semester. Multiple attempts for HW, Wiley (drops 3), MALL. Highly recommend her
Kwon is super easy. She moves so slowly in lecture that it can get boring. She solves some problems with harder methods than needed though so watch out for that. Lecture notes are on webcourses. Assignment given for 5 EC points every test and final. Only annoying thing is you have to memorize all the formulas for tests.
Kwon's lectures were very monotone and boring. She makes mistakes each lecture and solves problems the hardest way. The class itself is decent. The only hard part was memorizing formulas. Try to find a difficult professor if you can.
an okay professor. makes a lot of mistakes but tries her best. Rachid definitely teaches the problems in a more understandable way. attendance not mandatory but gives the quiz codes out only in class. study guides prepare u for the exam. very nice person. some how magically got an a in the class. the final will drop u if not studied for
Super boring lectures. She makes lots of mistakes, doesn't show you a real easy way to do things or she doesn't know the easy ways. Took it summer 6 week session so it was super fast. Beware of her exams, exams are usually not during class time. She isn't flexible with anything at all. If your good at math, you will be fine, if you struggle then no
Not a bad teacher(even though she sometimes makes mistakes), shes just really really boring. She simplifies the lectures good(sometimes oversimplifies), but if you are not good at staying awake or getting the information from an uninteresting person do not take this class, because she is slowwwwww.
Kwon makes the material in this class extremely easy, as well as she prepares you for the tests well. You don't NEED to go to class, but it is where you will receive the password for a quiz, so its recommended that you go.
Not the best at explaining, she usually copies examples straight from the textbook. You only need to attend class to get the code for the online assignments. Tests are taken at the MALL. Just do the work (and/or see a tutor) and you'll pass.
Slow lecturer, fumbles and messes up in class .
Reads straight out the book. She doesn't even post notes online so if you don't understand anything you have to learn yourself. Save yourself the time and take another teacher.
Do not take her if you have trouble with math. She excepts her students to already know what she is teaching and doesn't not explain things very well. She gives passwords for the homework so you have to attended every class. I really regret taking her class and wouldn't recommend anyone to take her. Take anyone but her.
Professor Kwon was amazing! She is really good at explaining and she gives good examples during lecture. If you put the work in and ACTUALLY DO THE HOMEWORK, you'll be fine. She gives extra credit toward your exam. She helped me prepare for calculus 1!
I adore this woman as a person, but she is not the best professor. The class itself is extremely difficult, and as someone who does not have a good prior math experience I have been struggling a lot. She seems so sweet but shes just not the right professor for me.
I'd really like to speak to whoever thought it would be a good idea to let someone who doesn't even speak english teach a MATH course. No one can understand what she says. She doesn't really teach either, she does textbook problems over and over until she runs out of them. Awful professor, so NOT take her.
She's often confused about how MyMathLab works, grading was confusing until the midpoint of the semester. She's hard to understand and is extremely quiet and monotone. Be sure to show up to lecture, as she gives the password to the homework every time. If I didn't already understand Trig I would definitely be failing.
If you aren't great at math (like myself) expect to spend hours a week teaching yourself the material. You HAVE to attend every class for the password for the homework quizzes. This class is HARD. Please be aware that even with a Trig background, I'm putting in 10 hours a week AT LEAST to make a 90. You're stuck to learn on your own. Good luck.
Dont be fooled , she teaches very slowly which is great but the content you are tested on is ten times harder and takes so much time and passwords are only given during class but at least she cares and always updates everyone via email
Kwon obviously understands what she's teaching and talking about, but she's not very good at explaining it to other people. This class was a joke and I taught myself most of the time through the homework questions (which were exactly the same questions as the test). She drops a ton of grades so if you don't manage to pass this class that's on you.
She knows what she is doing, but forgets that WE dont know, hence why we are in the class. Expects you to have met a certain criteria before entering her class. But, she is a wonderful person and tries her best.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. She does not speak clearly at all and she does not know how to explain anything. Trig is already difficult as is and she makes it even more difficult. She is often rude and dismissive when you ask questions and she expects us to already know everything.
Completely dreadful, attendance is 100 points a day & she doesn't take hospital notes, attendance is taken at the beginning & end of class. The lecture/homework is nothing like the test, she does not explain things clearly nor does she understand the questions being asked. She also expects you to memorize all formulas for tests & the final.
She knows how to do trig, but she doesn't realize that no one else understands what she is talking about. She'll lecture the entire time and not explain a single thing. And what she teaches in class is NOTHING like the tests. I'd highly recommend not taking her
Kwon teaches everything the harder way than she needs to. Questions on the tests were either simple or hard and not what she taught. Final was horrible and super hard. Would not recommend, she doesn't understand your questions you ask. Have to go to class for iClicker attendance. Always messed up in class on problems, you'll have to teach yourself
Doesnt explain anything and goes through everything quickly, so i had to teach myself. OfferS extra credit and grading options also drops the lowest test score. Honestly i only passed this class because i got a B on the final and she dropped all of my tests and used my final as a grade for the class which is one of the exam options.
Literally the worst. The calculator you are forced to use is good for absolutely nothing. You might as well just be allowed to use a rock instead and you might even do better. Seriously take someone else or you'll literally want to gauge your brains out with the D youll get.
Be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING and when she tells you not to memorize the unit circle, do it anyway or you will be confused... She is maybe the worst math teacher I've ever had. Good luck :)
The class was one of my hardest classes I have ever taken, professor assumes you know everything that she is doing and does not explain much of her work making it hard to understand. This is definitely a more self-taught class than anything
Took her for the summer, the material is not difficult, but you have to study in order to pass. She is a great professor, but she goes fast during lectures to cover all the material. A lot of homework, but she drops the 2 lowest scores, same goes for her quizzes. Overall, be careful as some lessons she taught during class doesn't correlate to exams
This is probably the worst class Ive ever taken in my life. Professor is horrible. She goes through the material very fast and I felt lost in class and having to teach myself the material. Shouldve dropped this class the first week. I feel miserable. LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS
First of all her class is so early in the morning. I took her as a 7:30 AM class. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR TRIG. I would literally rather Jump off the 5th floor of the library. If it werent for my major I would have just taken an online class because I basically had to teach myself. One good thing is that her monotone voice helps u go to sleep.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THE MATERIAL HERSELF. This is the worst experience I've ever had in a math class. She doesn't teach the course and doesn't respond to students reaching out for help. Not that difficult of a class, just find a better professor because she can't teach. Theres no way this lady should be teaching at UCF
She uses iclickers and the lectures are terrible. Quite possibly the worst class I have had yet.
Took her over the summer during my first semester at UCF, had to say that was a big mistake. She talks in a monotone voice and her notes aren't thorough at all. She won't stop if you need time to jot down information. She gives lots of work in the MSB labs. I had a hard time understanding the material and ended up not passing. Don't take her.
dont let these comments scare you, as long as you study the practice tests and really know how to do each question on the practice test there is no reason you shouldnt get an A, I took this class in the spring of 2019 and finished with 104% by just studying the practice tests. If you dont know how to do something on the hw just youtube it.
Professor Kwon seems like a very nice lady but boy is she an awful teacher. She goes through the lecture notes quickly. Her notes can be confusing & unorganized. She is terrible at explaining things. Don't even try asking a question cause it won't get answered well. I taught myself everything in this course so be prepared or just avoid taking her.
Not that bad; lectures are her going over old notes, which are almost all examples and not nearly enough explanations of background concepts. Uses iClicker2, it counts towards grade and is not EC. Go to all lectures. Any homework/quiz you don't do well on use patrickjmt on yt to learn about that module. Easy A if you self-teach. Don't buy textbook.
Hard time understanding her English. Must attend class it counts toward grade. You teach yourself everything. However the quizzes are infinite attempts and she drops a lot of homework and quizzes. The tests are very hard and the final was very difficult. She gives you material to succeed, but doesn't teach well. I taught myself everything.
Professor Kwon is a solid choice. Trig itself is a hard subject so be prepared to study. She drops multiple quizzes, hw, and gives 5% extra credit. People who have been rating her really bad have NEVER had a bad prof. before and she's certainly NOT one of them. The bonus quizzes and MALL quizzes are exactly like the exams.
The homework helps a lot with the weekly quizzes. Attending the lecture is mandatory due to iclickers. She gives extra credit with bonus quizzes and drops a few quizzes and hw. Lectures are posted online but it's best to attend in order to fully understand. Class isn't easy but it's manageable as long as you do the homework and attend the lectures.
Her explanations were fine for me but I could definitely understand as to how some kids had no idea what was going on. Trig isn't easy and the online modules and example questions are what really helped me succeed. Quiz every week and 3 tests, there are also bonus quizzes that if you complete you can get up to 5% added to your final grade.
So many negative reviews here but I thought she was a great teacher, who thoroughly explains concepts with good examples. Her english is perfectly clear so I dont know why people were having problems with that.
I've taken 3 classes with this professor. I really think shes trying hard, but with the way UCF designs math classes, it was a horrible experience. On top of that, she gives you an attitude every time you have an issue, and will even make a vague announcement about you. Overall it sucks but you probably need this for your major anyway
I am honestly shocked as to how many negative reviews this professor has. I have not taken her in person, but online, the class is INCREDIBLY manageable. Attendance is not mandatory, the homework load isn't awful, and exam questions come straight from the homework's/quizzes. If you put in minimal effort.... you will pass with an A.
Great prof. I took the class online due to Covid and learned everything from the notes she provided. She makes it easy to pass, dropped the lowest hw and quiz grades. Tests are just like the quizzes so no surprises. Definitely would recommend.
Professor Kwon is a solid choice for a Trig professor. Her notes, hw, quizzes, tests, extra credit, and final all go along perfectly, and they are all open note. If you put in the work you'll get a good grade. I'm bad at math and even I did fine so you should too.
I took this class online due to covid-19 and felt like it was fairly easy and not too much work. She doesn't teach very well but the class is pretty self explanatory and you can teach yourself. She tends to be rude when you reach out to her for questions so I would recommend talking to the TA if you have any.
Easiest math class I've ever taken. Prof gives you everything you need, plus extra credit as well. You do have to teach the topics yourself, but all notes and pdf are given, as well as video examples. Tests are proctored as well, so it isn't high pressured.
MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I never had to watch the lectures. Just learn from the example video problems on the assignments, you can click a button and it shows you how to complete a similar problem. hw just like the exams. Do the bonuses. Don't stress, bad rating, but online this class is clear and easy to get an A, just do the work.
It was easy and there was quite a bit of extra credit. The only thing I didnt like was she was basically impossible to get in contact with. When you email her you get an automated email saying she cant respond due to high volume of emails and to email her assistant. Kind of annoying because I never actually talked to her. Do the work easy A.
It was so hard to learn from her lectures. I ended up not going to lecture entirely after a couple weeks because I wasn't learning anything. I used the lessons that she posted to figure out the concepts but if math isn't an easy subject for you then it is gonna be extremely difficult with this professor. Take someone else if you are able to.
DO IT ONLINE. It's not *the* hardest class; HW can be retried multiple times, she drops your lowest exam and HW, and there's lots of bonus points to be had. However I had to teach myself 90% of the material, so if you don't have a strong foundation in math you might struggle. Never had to contact her myself but others say she's quite unreachable.
As long as you complete all of the assignments given, you will do fine! 3 HW , 5 quizzes and 1 exam was dropped. Had lots of bonus assignments to prep for the final, and it wasn't that bad. I never went to any of the lectures, went off the notes the prof provided and still got an A! This prof made it easy during covid and I'm grateful!
Lots of homework but lots of bonus quizzes to help prep for exams and final. Many assignments and quizzes are dropped along with 1 exam. Did not go to any lectures, just went off the notes provided and was able to get an A. Not much interaction with the professor throughout the course, just sent reminders about upcoming exams.
There are optional lectures + weekly homework assignments and quizzes. You have infinite tries on the homework and quizzes, but there are some "lockdown" exams that you submit without a second try. You also get a bunch of extra credit assignments that can bring your grade up 5%. Overall nice class but it was kind of done by myself w/ trial + error
Great class if you can manage your time and want to work ahead. The professor seems to really care about the class and gives weekly announcements. A lot of homework, but not overwhelming, good to bring your grade up and bonus quizzes for EC. Def recommend.
Very unapproachable, comes across as rude, would NOT recommend.
You can learn more from the WebAssign videos than the actual lectures. This professor struggles with the English language and it's reflected in the lecture notes. The homework, quizzes, and exams are all multiple-attempts so it's a very easy class, but you're going to have to teach yourself a good amount of the material.
Took her over the summer as an online class for trig and quite frankly it was such an easy class if you really put the effort... she gives unlimited retries on quizzes and homework assignments as long as you complete it before or on the due date and homework and quizzes correlate to the exams and If you take notes on the hw/quizzes, you'll do fine
Just took the class for summer for 6 weeks. The assignments are bearable. Unlimited tries on the hw and quizzes. 3 exams are similar to the hw/quiz. I just watched the videos (in the hw) and used the e-book to answer the questions. I also watched some youtube videos. Never went to lecture. Overall, the class isn't bad. Take it online!
Took this class online, but the workload was extreme. Numerous lecture notes, homework, and quizzes would be due on the same date. Lecture videos were long and sometimes did not help with the homework. Quizzes were fine, and the instructor responds to emails quickly. Would not take this class again.
Initially the class was face to face, but after the first week of class she switched to only in person on Mondays (which you have a quiz or exam on every time). The video lectures are awful, and she explicitly states that her exams will be based only off of her lecture notes, not the homework (yet she assigns absurd amounts of homework). Awful.
Dr Kwon, is a good professor very clear and teaches everything that is needed to have a good grasp in calc 2, do the hw, practice the exercises in the notes and you will do excellent! The professor is accessible outside the class and answers quickly. Exams are a bit lengthy but include extra credit so you can definitely have extra points.
Worst teaching style I have ever had to experience. Endless copying notes with little to no proper explanation. Supposed to be in person but all zoom. Also, gets aggravated when students try to ask questions during her "lectures"
Worst professor I have ever had. She doesn't teach well and gets annoyed if you ask questions for clarity. Homework, quizzes, and lectures are online, then the exams are in person?? I normally love math and do excellent in all of my courses, but because of this professor I am going to fail and my track to get my degree will be completely askew.
The worst math professor I have ever had hands down. She barely elaborates on the things she teaches you and assigns mounds of homework with little to no explanation on how to do most of it. The beginning of the class started out good and I am about halfway through and can say if you have the choice to get another professor do it.
Kwon does her job to the point in which she gets paid. Her lectures are nonengaging and hard to follow. Quizzes are every Monday in person which may be completed in groups. Homework is time-consuming and tests are monthly. I passed the class with a B using Youtube heavy. I felt a strong disconnect and I genuinely felt as if she rarely cared for us.
All of our lectures were online but our tests were in person. She did not answer many questions during our zoom lectures. She did not communicate well and only taught to get paid.
Maybe Mrs.Kwon is a better teacher in person, but our class structure was online lectures only and in person quizzes at the beginning of each week. The zoom lectures are difficult to learn from and your grade is almost entirely determined by exams. There are many calc 2 professors at UCF, I would try finding a better one.
Was supposed to be F2F but was online from the first class. If you do not like math online, wouldn't recommend. You will learn most your material off the website for HW & quizzes and youtube rather than class. Does not elaborate on lecture material. Tells you to re-watch old lectures. Just do all the work and bonus quizzes and you'll get an A.
I have never spent more time on math than I have in this class. Lectures are unclear and doesn't cover all the material thats tested. I relied on kahn academy to get through this class. Professor has 0 leniency. SO MUCH HW, tests are 10 questions so if you miss one you already lost 10%. Do yourself a favor and find a different professor.
I have never, in all my years of education ever had to deal with such an unprofessional instructor. They could care didly-squat about the students and had the worst attitude towards this class. Any time someone asked her a question, she had such an attitude that made her unapproachable. If it weren't for the GTA's, I'd be drowning right now. Avoid!
worst class i have ever taken in my life. 10/10 would not recommend. her clas will be the first grade forgiveness I am going to have to do lol
Unfair exams online (1 wrong anything and the entire question is incorrect). Rude to students and does not answer questions well Expects you to fully understand it after saying it once Her accent makes it harder to understand her Needs to find a new job
Worst teacher I've had ever.I was legitimately disgusted by some of her teaching practices, you're graded by about three exams and almost all of the tedious hw weekly barely counts for your grade. Despite this you can't skip the hw b/c it's the only way you'll learn the material, teaching yourself is a must, her lectures are useless.
This class was tough. Ive had a 4.0 my entire college career until this class. The hardest part is that she doesnt allow any formulas on exams. You have to memorize everything, and theres a lot in trig to memorize. If you dont do good on exams then tough luck.
If you didn't take Trig in high school, I don't recommend taking her class because you're basically teaching yourself. The tests are fill-in-the-blank, so you have to get the answer completely correct to get credit. There is a lot of homework and quizzes. The lectures are all over the place and don't help you with the HW, quizzes, and tests.
I taught myself the majority of the course, and I only attended lectures for attendance credit. If you study the textbook and constantly practice homework questions and quizzes you'll understand the course more. There is no formula sheets allowed so a lot of memorization on exams, but the exams are just a copy of the bonus quizzes/homework anyway.
I attended each lecture for attendance but only some of it was reflected on the homework assignments. You mainly are going to have to teach yourself but, could join the optional class on Friday's which was dedicated for asking homework questions. Exams are almost mirrors of bonus exams and homework assignments, practice those and you'll pass.
I would say that this professor is really hard to take. During this semester I had a health issue that screwed me over because I couldn't take one exam and that dropped my grade even though I did well on all homework. The teacher's accent is very heavy so you will have to rewatch the lectures. She does attendance codes so you need to pay attention.
Can't speak much about her lectures since it was my second time taking calc 2 but I just wanted to say how straightforward her quizzes and exams are. Her quizzes are in person, open book, and you can collab with others. Her exams are really straightforward (no tricks or anything) and most of the time very similar to quizzes which are similar to hw
This class was hard because I had to teach myself how to solve most of the questions. This class is very test heavy and many people had to dropout because they were failing. I had to worry about this class more than Organic chemistry. Take it during the summer because it takes a lot of your time.
Professor Kwon's test were all exactly from her notes and quizzes, so its easy to pass if you watch the lectures and study. We had a reasonable amount of Hw in my opinions because it was one for each chapter, and they are fairly easy to figure out along with giving us the right practice for exams.
Class is Zoom calls with view of notes and example problems being written, along with live question answering. There are attendance codes written, so pay attention, but you can also get them from the call's recording. Weekly extra-credit calls with q/a. Tests were in-person with provided TI-30Xa, and no formula sheet. Highly memorization based.
Most useless lecturer I have ever had. She requires attendance as part of your grade which is the only reason I even bother to show up.All she does is rewrite the same examples that are already in the online textbook. Her tests are made of problems directly from homework. She is an unpleasant person who should not be teaching anything whatsoever.
There is a 13 day grace period on homework and quizzes. Unlimited attempts on each question. Recorded lectures contain attendance codes for attendance quizzes, worth 5% of your grade. Weekly bonus attendance on the weekends. There are lots of online tutoring sessions. Only downside is in-person exams. TAKE THIS CLASS. BOOST YOUR GPA.
You can ask for extensions for like two weeks after the due dates of hw/quizzes which is nice, but there are weekly attendance codes for participation that are required. The content itself isn't bad, youtube helped me a fair bit.
I had a hard time taking this math class. I'm not the best at math and I feel like professor Kwon moves at a fast pace which can be hard for students that struggle like me. There is a lot of homework due and exam are worth a lot. Overall, if you don't normally struggle with math, I don't think she would be a bad professor for you.
This has to be the worse math class I have ever taken! The lectures are so confusing I had to stop going to them so I could actually pass the exam! She didn't actually cover topics and I was left dumbfounded after every homework. The book doesn't help at all either, nor does cenegage. Overall horrible class, do not take this professor!
take it from me DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! her lectures can be hard to understand, and she is not understanding at all. if you email her for a concern, she will make a class announcement saying she wont answer any emails regarding ANYTHING with the class. the TA taught carried this class. taught us everything. her notes suck. just dont do it.
Not a good teacher. She does not teach well. Exams are majority of your grade. Also homework and quizzes matter a lot. First 2 exams are very easy, however, you need to study the bonus quizzes for exams and master every question. The 3rd exam is extremely hard and will be dropped as long as you do well on the first 2 exams.
The overall course is very rushed and more of a "teach your own self" basis.
Honestly I thought this professor was great. Maybe math comes easier to me than others but I found her teaching style to be adequate. She does go a little fast but the homework really helps. I also liked how you had until sunday to watch her lectures videos as it allowed me time in the morning to do other things. go over bonus quizzes and memorize
Do not take this class! This is by far the worst class I've taken at UCF. The lectures are boring and the professor does not teach well. She does her best, and she is a very nice person, but it's not enough. There's so much HW, and some of the topics are very hard to comprehend. I'll probably have to retake this course, preferably with a diff prof.
Kwon isn't a good professor because she doesn't explain anything very well. She assumes you have knowledge on certain topics which just isn't true so you'll be teaching your self a lot and using the tutors. Unless you're good at math I would stay away.
This teacher is not a very good professor. would not recommend. She explains things the worst way possible and not helpful when you ask for help on a problem. Very careless in her emails. I could go on and on, if this post would've allowed more characters. if you do take the course with her, prepare to teach yourself and expect to have a rough year
This class was hard, but doing the extra credit bonus assignments are EXTREMELY helpful, even going to her Sunday zoom sessions boost your grade. She has two different grading criteria, honestly if you can at least pass the Final exam with the grade you want, you can pass the class & you will also have to teach yourself the majority of info.
By far my hardest class this semester. If you miss lectures, it'll add up, and eventually you'll have hours of lectures. Stay on top of attendance. Attendance codes are given during lectures- make sure that even while taking notes you look up frequently to catch the code. Stay on top of your work and this class will be okay. Otherwise, good luck.
I never really interacted with the professor and basically taught myself everything. Also, it said it was one of the online classes that you do at your own pace, only to find out that there are zoom lectures that you must watch at a specific time each Tuesday and Thursday. Luckily they were recorded, but it was still annoying.
I had a very difficult time learning with her. At first we were in person but then she switched to zoom. Her lectures are copy-pasted from her pdf notes and does not explain *conceptual* answers well; it looks like she just regurgitates example problems but never teaches you to fully understand why or how an answer is achieved. I had to self-learn.
Professor Kwon was very straightforward. If you are taking an online class, you will have to show up on campus for exams (4 times in total). You will also have to watch the lectures and obtain codes that count as your participation grade. She reminded students regularly not to cheat. Overall, she doesn't trust students, but is a decent professor.
I consider myself alright at math, and this is the first class I have ever failed in my entire life. I have never seen a professor with such little involvement in their class. I have never personally seen Kwon once - if you are taking Trig with her, you are taking trig yourself. To succeed in this class it is going to be atleast 90% self teaching.
I don't understand why her rating on here was so low. She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit, and there is a very generous grading system for the class. There is a lot of homework to do but she has it set up so that your lowest grades in HW, Attendance, Quizzes, and Exams are dropped. So you can miss a couple of these and still get an A
If you want an idea of how her lectures usually go, she has a youtube channel under "Michelle Kwon" she uploads them to. You'll find that she is very difficult to listen to and keep up with. You will likely have to teach yourself. However, she'll drop your lowest exam and homework scores, answer all your questions, and offer lots of extra credit.
I signed up for a class that was supposed to be fully in person and it ended up being an online class. There were these optional lab/study hours you could go to for extra credit. The class was really unorganized online. So many assignments and quizzes every week, but you could extend them. She did not post our class grades until after spring break.
This professor was the worst! She made simple stuff way too complicated, and it was impossible to follow along. We didn't have to go to class, but there were tons of assignments each week. The only way I survived was by watching Professor Leonard's videos on YouTube. He's a total lifesaver, and i actually learned a lot from him.
Grading was completely rigged, not sure if that's her fault or the departments. Her grading on tests and quizzes was harsh, taking off points for practically nothing. Barley knows how to teach unless following her pre-solved notes. I would not take this professor again if my degree depended on it.
I was worried about taking Trig, this turned out to be a very easy class. She has a great grading criteria which is clear. She allows up to 5% extra credit and allows 2 week extensions on HW and Quizzes. Trig is all about teaching yourself. You won't understand just with lectures. Work through quizzes and bonus quiz, Exams are identical to these.
She does not know how to teach, so be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING. Many homework assignments and opportunities for extra credit, which is nice. Tests are identical to homework but are difficult. You can do good in this class but you have to do it on your own.
Trig is a hard class in general, but Dr. Kwon does her best to make it manageable. You are expected to study and be up to date with the course material. She offers extra credit for going to MALL and even does optional practice hours on Saturdays where you can get extra credit too. If you have the option, take her over Keith Carlson; trust me.
Coming from someone who has always been good at math, Trigonometry was rough. However, Dr. Kwon gives you unlimited attempts on all HW and Quizzes, gives extra credit just for showing up to the optional lab, and holds tutoring sessions every Saturday night. The TA's will be a major tool for success in learning the material, the textbook is awful.
If you need to pass, take someone else. Literally so terrible and not worth it. You will have to teach yourself the material all semester.
Trigonometry is a lot of work but Dr. Kwon shows a clear understanding of it and explains it well. I took mixed mode so I could go to the MALL hour on fridays which is a huge help. If you do the work/ extra credit, and don't cheat its easy to succeed in this class. Nothing is multiple choice so expect to have to learn how to solve problems not gues
I used to struggle a lot with math in high school but this professor makes things so understandable. She covers the material needed in lectures, and the homework lets you practice the concepts with unlimited attempts. If you do the homework, take notes, and review your work before exams, it is easy to get a good grade.
Worst professor ever. does not know how to teach, prepare to teach yourself EVERYTHING.I was up until 4am trying teach myself before doing HW. xtremely frustrating paying hundreds 2 teach yourself everything. Accent is heavy so she does not say much on how to work through the problems, khan academy and lots of youtube videos, Good luck. STAY AWAY.
Professor Kwon cares about her students and is knowledgeable about the subject. She does go a little fast during lectures, but she records them, so you can always watch them later. Attendance is kept by codes that she'll write down during class, so pay attention. Make sure to do all homework and extra quizzes, so a bad test won't impact you as much
Professor Kwon is knowledgeable and kind. Her lectures are pretty fast, but she uploads them to YT to watch later. She will drop your lowest exam grade. I would not take her if you're not good at math. The way she explains things can get pretty confusing. If I didn't take pre-calc in high school, I would be completely lost. Cengage doesn't help.
Good luck, go to Valencia or some other college and get all your math classes done elsewhere. UCF math department is by far the worst department. Dr. Kwon is a nice person but as a teacher, good luck.
The professor doesn't have the best teaching sense, but if you're good at teaching yourself the subject, you'll do fine (YouTube is your best friend). Other than that, the course itself was structured well. She gives up to 5% extra credit and drops your lowest exam grade.
Dr. Kwon has a lot of extra credit opportunities. Online students pull up to campus for tests and have attendance codes at beginning and end of lecture. Exam is similar to HW problems. Homework heavy. Accent heavy. Not a terrible professor, just not an easy A either.
Honestly, this class is the gold standard as far as math classes go. I can't see how anyone would dislike it.
I believe that Kwon is the best trig professor that you can take at UCF. She is very straightforward and everything on the exams is from the homework and the lectures. She also gives a lot of extra credit. There is a lot of homework, but for a math class, I think that it could be way worse. As long as you do the work, you will get an A.
She is a good teacher, but I suggest taking precalc before. You don't have to physically go to her lectures, attendance is taken by codes on her lectures but you can watch them online on YouTube. LOTS of homework, be prepared for 2-4 assignments each week, they are not that difficult, they are just tedious Test heavy... but a lot of extra credit.
she's super chill. lectures are useful and she offers lots of extra credit. still got to put in the effort though if you want an A
Trigonometry is automatically a hard subject but she teaches the concepts in a clear and conc
Trigonometry is a hard subject as is but Dr. Kwon teaches the concepts in clear and concise ways. She does a lot of practice problems in class during the lecture and goes through them in class. Lots of extra credit before big tests. All homework and quizzes are able to be reattempted unlimited times and have up to 14 day extensions.
Professor Kwon has a heavy accent and it can be difficult to follow along with her lectures, but the homework assignments are essentially identical to the tests. Do the practice exams and learn how to do all of the concepts on them, and you will ace the class. Overall a bad teacher, but an easy class.
For someone who is not a math person this class was super easy for me. I stopped attending class after the first week of school because she posts recordings of her lectures online. The TA was also SUPER helpful with assisting with homework and explaining concepts. Most things are done online. Practice exams are REALLY similar to the actual exams.
The class structure is fairly organized. There's 3 exams and a cumulative final. Each exam was very similar to its corresponding practice exam so I would recommend using those as the base of your studying. There are also multiple opportunities for bonus credit. If you miss a hw or quiz assignment, extensions are available. Would recommend.
The exams are pretty easy, there are 3 exams and 1 final. Exams are about 12-14 questions, and the final is about 30 questions. The bonus exams are optional but they do help with preparing for the exams and boost your grade. Homework and quizzes are long but some of the questions are similar to the exams. If you study, you will pass.
This class was so easy. I used to struggle with trig, but she made it much easier to understand. There is a bit of homework, but it is all extendable and she reopens them at the end of the semester for full credit. The exams are exactly like the homework and exam reviews. I finished with over a 100 in this class- Take her!
A lot of lectures but you can skip through to just see how she does the problems and you'll be fine. Offers extensions for every hw so you can work on ur own time. Exams were just like the reviews (she gives a review for every exam and for the final). Im trash at math so if I got an A then anyone can.
Dr. Kwon overall is a very good teacher. She holds class lecture, as well as uses zoom for her lectures, as well as records her lectures and posts them online to go back and view later. There are 3 exams and a final (she will drop your lowest exam grade). She gives lots of bonus exams which will eventually add up to 5% added to your grade.
-Hard to understand: Speaks quietly with accent and dull inntonation -Hard to take notes: Instead of slides she projects on paper and handwrites it, making it difficult to see -Attendance mandatory: You need codes from the beginning and end of class, so good luck if you have to be late. Overall I'll be better off just teaching myself from the book
i thought her lectures were great, and the online resources even better. practice exams & final are PERFECT practice for the real tests. lots of homework but you need it to learn the material, and you can do it late if needed. attendance required but has zooms & recordings. you just have to prove you watched them by entering a code. made trig easy!
Trig with Kwon is likely the most forgiving math class you will ever take. She drops copious amounts of grades, gives 5% extra credit, and all exams have a nearly identical practice version. I only watched the first few lectures so I can't speak to her teaching but she is a very kind lady. Please take if your considering.
Going to class wasn't mandatory and it was very helpful that she recorded her lectures. There are plenty of opportunities for grades. She was straight to the point with her teachings making it easy to understand. Going to the labs wasn't mandatory unless there was an exam.
I did not like Dr. Kwon. Her class was not hard, very clear grading and very clear questions. However, her lectures were almost robotic and practiced. She never answered questions, and I felt like she tried to go through as quickly as possible and always ended early. Easy A, but I did not feel like she cared about the students at all.
She does have an accent, but clear to understand. She does go through material very fast during lectures, but she post them online so you can go back and review. Course gets progressively harder so I highly recommend not falling behind. Three exams and a final, one exam gets dropped. 2-3 homeworks a week and 2-3 quizzes a week, all online.
Kwon is a great professor & very knowledgeable. Allows extensions on assignments, hw and quizzes are online, extra credit through bonus hw and attendance. Only thing is lecture is extremely boring and it's so hard to stay focused.
An Incredible and Super Fair Professor. She is one of the best professors I had because she actually helps us understand the content, rarely do any professors do that nowadays. Study the reviews and hw, and you can get the answer right in different ways btw. Overall, a class that really is worth it for the professor, and for your grade overall.
Took the virtual modality- super easy class. Prof. Kwon explains things very well. She teaches you exactly what you need to know for the exams, no trickery here. Lots of homework assignments, but you can get automatic extensions on them. Definitely recommend this class!
amazing prof, auto extensions on all assignments, reviews are exact same type of questions as exams, up to 5% easy extra credit, lectures posted online, clear and fair grading. if you have to take trig, TAKE KWON! I put in average effort and ended up with 103% final grade
This class was honestly easy and I didn't try that hard. Yes, there's lots of assignments but most are easy. She posts her lectures online. The reviews are harder than the tests, so if you do good on reviews, you'll do great on tests. She gives 5% extra credit if you do some assignments. She seems like a caring professor who cares about your grade.
Dr.Kwon gave so many extra credit opportunities and if you do them it definitely makes a difference. I am horrible at math and the extra credit definitely saved me. She does her best to make sure everyone has the chance to pass and it shows. There is alot of assignments but she gives a extention on everything which makes it less stressful.
Yes there was a lot to do for this class. Every week multiple things were due but it helped me practice for the exams. She has two final grading criteria and she chooses which one that will increase your grade. I took this class online and even though I prefer face to face her online course was well organized.
Not the best teacher since she doesn't do much but notes, but the notes are very helpful and clear, and the homework/tests are the exact same problems she does in class. I found this class easy since the homework was a big portion of the grade. Tests are honestly easy if you do your homework and practice tests. Very straightforward, chill class imo
Kwon's lectures are all examples but no in-depth explanation. If you have an easier time learning hands-on or by example and don't ask many questions, then this class will be a breeze. Good if you just need to pass the class but don't care for deeper explanation/study. Attendance is mandatory; however, lectures are easily accessible online.
Awesome professor. Do ALL the work, even extra credits because it will be SUPER USEFUL for exams. I ended with a 103.94% by doing so. You got this!
Just a terrible professor. English language makes it difficult for students like myself to understand the material that she is trying to attempt. Gets frustrated when asking questions. Take your time to another trig teacher because Professor Kwon is not the teacher to be taking this course.
She gives you the basic tools to learn and understand, its great she has videos. Tons of HW but the HW gives you the practice you need, Do the pratice test before your exams and you should be fine. Mathlab will help. Good luck.
Prof. Kwon's class is straightforward and doable if you engage with the materials. The homework and tests are very aligned, and Unstuckstudy helped me ace the prep. Definitely a solid choice for trig.
Class was alright, I already had the foundation from high school trig which helped, and I used the organic chemistry tutor to help. She holds a zoom if you can't make it to class, but she gives codes to show that you attended. She drops a good amount of things and gives extra credit.
Honestly she's been excellent, her grading policy is great & she focuses on the lectures in class & doesn't go off on tangents. Explains things in a way that makes sense. One of the best professors I've had at UCF, would take again for sure
I expected the worst due to the reviews but I thought she was amazing. Lectures are recording with attendance code and tons of hw which is a double edged sword but really helps with exam prep. Exam prep is almost a 1 for 1 of the exam as far as difficulty. Tons of notes available online, if you don't mind the heavy hw definitely recommend.
Incredibly boring lecturer, and I had to teach myself a lot of the content through Youtube videos simply because it was just easier than trying to learn from her. That being said, if you learn the unit circle this class is actually pretty easy. Tons of online homework that can take way too long, but it beefs up your grade if you do it.
Professor Kwon is one of the best math professor's I've ever had. She broke the material down into a way that made it much easier than it seemed to be. Her lectures are just going over examples, but that made the problems easier to understand since she would explain the structure of certain patterns, tests, formulas, etc.
Let me put this simply. MEMORIZE THE EXAM REVIEWS. I'm not even kidding when I tell you if you do all the homework and quizzes, you can do as many times as you want. All you do is memorize the final exam reviews to a tea and you can't get lower than a B.
Took this prof for trig and Calc 2, she does want you to succeed and gives you everything you need to. It doesnt make the course any easier tho, I ended up using a supplemental service called CramBetter after failing the first exam. I watched CramBetter before each lecture and did their practice tests for each topic, allowing me to pass in the end.
Dr Kwon shows she genuinely cares and is the first math class i have actually liked. you can either attend lectures or watch the youtube video after, i recommend watching the videos as she moves quickly and you can pause for notes. the tests are not bad, if you do the hw you will be fine.
She makes this class really hard to fail. Attendance isn't mandatory all you have to do is watch her YouTube videos she uploads and get the codes.
TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE you can request auto extensions for the hw so u can do it whenever u want. the exam reviews are identical to the exam. her yt videos are so boring but this class is easy if u put in a lil work. exams are in person at msb but its not bad at all
Records lectures and uploads them. Lectures include attendance codes you have to input in canvas for a grade. There is a lot of homework but it helps with bringing up your grade. There is also auto extensions on all homework with no late penalty. Exam reviews are the same as actual exams and the exams are in person.
here is everything you need to know about the class. everything is done through webassign, other than easy attendance code quizzes. exams make up your whole grade, but they are easy AS LONG AS YOU UNDERSTAND THE EXAM REVIEWS!! but the exam review contains the exact material you need to know on the exam. also your lowest exam is dropped I THINK. TBD
its an easy class but the lectures stopped helping after a while. just taught myself with the homework but if you want an easy class that doesn't take up too much time id recommend taking her online.
truthfully, this class is easy only if you make it easy. all your grades are through webassign, to which on hw, quizzes, exam reviews which are extremely easy to get a 100. however the exams are the one thing thatll make or break your grade, but the lowest one gets dropped. but, understand the review, youre GOLDEN. you will decide the grade you get
The reviews scared me when taking this class. Truthfully you do have to teach yourself, but there are step-by-step lectures along the way. Attendance is leaniant. Toward the end I stopped watching all the lectures and for exams, i watched the exam reviews which were extremely helpful and walked you through every question on the exam.
Without the help of a tutor I would have had a hard time with this class. Professor Kwon posts online lectures that walk you through how to do most of the questions she asks on the homework, but they're tedious and long. Her exam reviews were fantastic, though. If you did well on those you were sure to pass the exam as they were incredibly similar.
I am not the best student at math but the way that Professor Kwon grades with unlimited attempts and extensions makes it very hard to fail as long as you do all assignments. The lectures were not very helpful for me but I found the summed up notes to be much better. The exams are in person and pretty important but 1st and 2nd were not too bad
Posts ~1 hour lectures twice a week that you watch for an attendance code. Assignments every week due on Saturdays based on those lectures. The lectures can be boring but they aren't unbearable. The practice tests that she posts before every test are basically the exact test but with 3 examples of each question on the test. Seems like a nice lady.
i suck at math & ended with a 100. video lectures posted with attendance codes. so much homework but boosts your grade and has auto extensions with no late penalty. exam reviews are exactly like the exams. also offers extra credit which are just duplicates of the exam reviews. has 2 grading criteria and she picks which one gives u a higher grade.
everyone who gives a 1 is slow this class is literally so easy
I took this class online to get the prereq out of the way without wasting my time with lectures. Except she requires you to watch at least 2 long lecture videos per week with attendance codes. Oh and she monetizes them so theres ads. Also she required us to come in person for tests. Such a waste of my time and so much unnecessary homework.
Attendence isn't mandatory but the lectures were pretty good, especially before exams since the examples she would go over would be the exact type as on the test. There are pop quizzes every week that are really easy if you're doing the knewton alta homeworks on time.
Lectures are posted on yt which were good for seeing things for the first time but weren't helpful for exams. There was very minimal extra credit available in the course so you really just end up with a grade that reflects the time you put in. Wasn't the worst, but wasn't the best either. It's up to you to find time for this course.
This class was completely online, but I had to take four exams throughout the semester in person late Friday nights.
Her teaching style wasn't my favorite, but I struggled very hard because I wasn't taking her class seriously, and had a hard time understanding her lectures. However, he showed real compassion by mercying me and giving me an NC instead of a very low F, and that saved my GPA. I've never expected a professor to care like that tbh. She has my respect.
The lectures were on YouTube, which you had to watch to receive attendance codes. The tests were in person and late at night. A lot of homework assignments, and she wasn't the best lecturer, she just did examples without explaining. I bombed every test but did all the extra credit and homework and got a B.
Very good professor, she genuinely wants her students to succeed. Calculus 2 can be daunting, but I credit a lot of my confidence to Professor Kwon's materials. Her lectures and quizzes prepare you well for the exams. If I knew earlier, I would've studied from them exclusively. Take this class!
