Hated the semester. Worst professor I've ever had.
Expects a lot, but gives a lot too.
She a psycho ______ ! (you can fill in the blank) Out of my entire class no one got an A, one person got a B and the rest got a C or failed! She's got psycho mood swings and cusses out the class when she's angry! She is truly one of the worst teachers!
SHE is a great teacher and challenges the student to think. Very demanding, but I gained a lot from taking her class. If you want to brown-nose your way through this class, forget it, she makes you work for your grade and I respect her for that.
Wonderful teacher! She really knows her stuff and expects a lot of you, but she is willing to work with you so she gets what she wants. She tells you what your tests are on, and then tells you what you should write. She is very smart, and a great teacher!
She is horrible! I would not wish on my enemies to take any of her classes.
Loved the class! She is a wonderful teacher! I would take her again if I could. She tells you what she wants. If you have a hard time in this class then something is wrong with you.
I ADMIRE THIS WOMAN!
I've gained a lot from her class
Really enjoys the material, and is very nice, and fair in grading. You must work for your grade, though; there is no easy way out.
She is a very good teacher. It's easy to tell that she is very knowledgeable about Literature and Humanities. She gets you to think, loves class discussions, has a sence of humor, very helpful & understanding, I'd take her for ENG. & HUMN. if I could!
She had to have been the worst professor i have ever taken. She grades really really hard!! she can write some really good papers but she grades your papers really hard. I would not take her!!!
Class has a heavy emphasis on African American Writers. Class should be listed as African-American History course or at least an African-American Literature course. Questions and dissenting opinions are NOT well received!
She was very helpful but a little unorganized. I loved the way she taught class and the style of teaching
the way she and the other teachers teach humanities is ridiculous. the quizzes are over the stuff that we have read the week before. if i wanted to teach myself i would have taken a mail order course. i am not paying tuition to teach myself.
Yes, this class is hard, but the rewards are well worth it. And while there is a strong emphasis on African American Literature we can all grow from have a more diverse knowledge base. I would take her again.
She is very unorganized. She also grades her papers very harshly.
She is very unorganized and wears tight and ugly clothing. She has a nasty attitude and blows you off when you ask her a question. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR HUMANITIIES! SHe also does not return work on time.
Dr. Willaims is a really good professor. She does make you work for your grade, but it's worth it. I enjoyed her, she's very helpful as long as you take the time to go see her during office hours
She grades harsh but she at least makes the class interesting for you. She gave us lots of chances for rewrites and gave some extra credit!
She was a pretty good teacher. She loves class discussions. She grades kind of harsh but she always gives you a chance to write your paper over. She gives a little bit of extra credit. She will help you out in any way that she can. Not the easiest teacher but she is a pretty good one.
she is a very helpful woman, plus advisor for map(minority advising poeple)
I took Dr. Williams for both 1101&1102.I really enjoyed her class.Yes she is hard but she prepares you for the regents test and any kind of paper you will ever write. The key is to ask questions and let her know you are trying. She is willing to help you at any time, but make an appointment.I recomme
Well...Considering she has a set of twins and a 3 year old, i guess it was ok that she was late to class like 2 days a week. She is also very unorganized and kinda unclear on tasks.Nice but grades harshly.I am not taking her agian!!!!!
she focuses alot on african american literature , which is fine ,but if you don't really get into that don't take her.
She is prejudice against whites and likes blacks better. She is not nice, nor is she helpful. Very rude, and if you do your work, it does not matter b/c if she doesn't like you, you won't do well.
This professor on first hand did not focus on writing essays until half through the semster. I thought she was boring and I also thought she seemed to not care. As a black student I found she focused more on black students. Which sucks because others are there to learn as well. Don't take her!
She's awful.
Made the class more humanities based than reasonable. not much help on the research paper. gives you the novel and you have learn how to write one on your own. was always late to class. never showed a couple of times as well. just unbearable. i swear she doesn't have a soul.
I didn't like her but I passes with an A.
I really enjoyed the class, to my suprise. Many people said not to take her class, because of different reasons, but it's my guess that they were just extremely lazy. The class was informative, easy and fun. Thanks Dr. Williams.
I thought she was very difficult, and I was very unclear the whole time about what she wanted from me as a student, and from my essays. I struggled to end up with a C - be warned!
Dr. Williams is an excellant professor. She will take the time to help you if you take the time to ask for help. As for her missing class it is because of a valid reason.
Wondeful Teacher! I really enjoyed the class and class disscussions.I have never really liked English but she made it very enjoyable and very easy to understand! It is NOT a hard class. She is very helpful and has a wonderful sense of humor! She's an excellent teacher! I give her an A+
For all the people who have negative things to say about Dr. Williams you are just lazy and didn't work hard in her class. She expects alot out of us because we are college students. She is far from a **** she is just proud of her root and where she came from. So all you students that have been hating on her you need to respect her.
i took it in the summer so it was pretty tough but if you read or sparknote it u'll be ok. just know names and details for her tests.
Dr. Williams' section was by far the hardest of the three disciplines in my humanities class. It wasn't necessarily Dr. Williams herself, just the sheer amount of required reading. Fortunately, like someone else said, her tests are passable with SparkNotes (though it's best to read if you have the time). Seems to grade essays fairly harshly.
very **** hated the way it was all about that
I am a white student in her class. She is helpful as long as you make an effort. she made a point to mention that everyone should come see her once because class time is for the class. She will take personal time and attention outside to help ANYONE! She is a wonderful teacher who tries her best to connect with the students. She uses music to do this, and does it well. she is not a stickler for grammer; she cares more about a student learning how to write clearly. I'll take her again if I can.
Dr. Williams is a great teacher. Anyone who doesn't think so is lazy. She is helpful, interesting, and fair. If you need help she will help you after class because class time is for the class. It isn't hard to do well as long as you try. If you don't do well on a paper she will give you a chance to redo it and show you what you need to improve upon
In my opinion, Dr. Williams is an excellent professor. She is cleary efficiently educated in her field, and has a sense of finesse surrounding her presentation. She is very clear, precise, and fair. If you fail her class and find her difficult, chances are you aren't a dedicated student anyhow which is why you come here to rant rather than the sour
Had Dr. Williams for both Humanities. She made it fun. I really liked her alot! Recommend taking her.
Dr. Williams is a nice woman and will help any student that takes the time to see her after class. She gives plenty of grades so it evens out a little. But she grades papers fairly harshly, be sure to pay attention to detail. I would not say she is the worst, but certainly not easy.
I took this woman for African Images and I have to say that she did a wonderful job. She enjoyed teaching us and sharing with us things that were left out of our earlier education---on purpose. I reccomend anyone taking her. She's really cool, just go sit down with her and have a chat in her office.

very unfair
Alright I guess she is better than most whom teach this boring class. Hate the class but she is ok take her or rust if you want at least a "B" in the class
kind of okay when it comes to actually teaching. However, the directions for assignments were overly vague, and she had insanely high expectations for responses. I'd suggest taking her only as a last resort
For a core level class she expects upper-level work. She wants everyone to be an ENG major. Umms throught her whole lectures, vague with directions. Grading is unfair with no guidlines at all to why you got what you did. Not helpful at all, won't answer e-mails. It's clear she doesn't like students. The worsts class I've ever had at ASU.
Her assignments were really vague and her grading seemed to be rather random. She read lectures straight from her notes without stopping, so the lectures were largely non-interactive. Not a great professor, although she was VERY easy.
She needs some serious work in the skill of instruction. You will write for her and you will not know what you did wrong. She is vague on what it is she wants from you. Seems to not like students. Not helpful. Don't bother to email because she won't answer. You just don't know what she wants.
very harsh grader and not clear on assignments. all we ever wrote about was jazz music and african american culture. you had to KNOW about all that to complete the assignments. we watched a lot of music videos. i didn't feel prepared for english 1102. acts like she doesn't have time for students; there because she has to be (all about the pay)
I had her for ENG 1101,1102,humn 2001.she is great professor. she is willing to help in any way possible. people don't take her seriously and they end up failing. using a taperecoder works GREAT! She gives LOTS of grades to help boost your average. Tests and quizzes are easy, even if you dont read the material. attend lecture and you will get a B
knows the material
Mrs. Williams is a wonderful teacher. She always went over the things that I did wrong on my English papers. Also, she picks out the most interesting books to read outside of class to do a research paper on. In order to pass her class a person must take notes, ask questions and study the material that is given to you.
The class is difficult, but Professor Williams did an excellent job helping us stay on top of the course load. She explained relevant themes and ideas clearly and did not waste class time on extraneous rabbit-trails. She was always well prepared and organized. This course is dreaded by the incoming students, but she made the class enjoyable.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. She is very unclear with her expectations. I consistently got B's on all of my work and thought that I was not doing so hott, then I found out that students who previously had her were doing worse than me! That say's a good deal about her teaching methods in her lower level classes!
I liked the class and the material that was taught. I guess i am just used to a lot of structure and in this class there was a lot of freedom.
She is not an average professor. she is really into her class and it is not boring. she is willing to clarify and help you out when needed and she acts like she is one of the students. attendence wise, prefers yo to show up because her test is from her lecture notes, not the book.
Not a BAD professor. However, she does have very high expectations. Class was kinda boring. LOTS of reading and the load makes you feel like she does not realize that you do have other classes to study for! She returned my e-mails, but wasn't very helpful. When you ask for help, she's kinda vague but i guess she wants u to do work on ur own.
She's really big on finding the deeper meanings on poems which really turned me off. She's a great prof but the 2 months on difficult poems is not beneficial.
All we ever did in her class was what SHE liked, which consisted of only African American studies. I did not sign up for that but rather for Engl 1102. You have to be an expert on it too because she is. She's definitely not an easy prof and I think you should only take her as a last resort. I like English or rather I liked it before this class.
Why are we doing art critiques in English? Isn't that what humanities is for? I just finished a 4 page paper and then she changes her directions and now I have to waste another 4 hours on something that doesn't even pertain to this class. This class is a waste of time. She doesn't even seem to enjoy teaching and doesn't care to help you out.
For everyone who says that people didn't do well because they are lazy that is a bit much. I am not lazy and am always willing to go the extra mile but with this woman it's impossible. I talk to her outside of class, email her, see her during office hours and all to no avail. She is without a doubt horrible. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
Okay... Dr. Williams is a good teacher. Yes there is alot of reading, yes the papers are hard, but umm aren't we in college people. Didn't we already know that ASU is known for a difficult English Department. What is wrong with African studies? How many of you who complained about that are black? We have learned about native amcericans, europeans,
(cont)and I bet that no one would have had such a problem learning about any of those cultures. We still wrote essays,we still lived up to everything we were supposed too. Stop complaining, if anything you should have grown from the experience. Humanities is about art so what, she prepared us for the next level wow.I wont lie, the poems were hard.
ok, but could have taught more and we learned more about poetry than anything else. i wish she would have broadened her curriculum..
I bet you are her. Your post smacks of sarcasm and that's just like her. She sent her sp 08 class a mocking email just like the post you wrote. I think Augusta is **** enough that she didn't have to bring it into the class room and she did. SERIOUSLY, stay away from this professor.
She's very passionate about literature and HUMN2002 is her thing. She has VERY high expectations, especially if you've taken her class before as I had done. She expects feedback and wants you to analyze the readings. I'm not a lit person AT ALL so I couldn't stand any of it. But she's not TERRIBLE..she just teaches like we're all grad students.
a lot was required for this class. the reflective writings were easy but the work load for this class was ridiculous. she is a very lovable and easy to talk to, down to earth teacher. she enojys literature and likes discussion so reading is important. dont sleep on this class, youll learn a lot. start working on projects early and youll do fine.
This is without a doubt the worst teacher at the school. Do not take her class under any circumstances. She has no compassion and is very unreasonable. She is very demanding and does not teach the material well. Stay away at all costs!
THIS LADY SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING. PERIOD. SHE IS RUDE, UNHELPFUL & DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE IS NOT UNDERSTANDING OR COMPASSIONATE LIKE SHE SHOULD BE, LIKE THE GOOD TEACHERS ARE. HER CLASS WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT WHEN I REGISTERED & NOW I KNOW WHY. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. DR. BLOODWORTH, WHY DO YOU ALLOW THIS TYPE OF TEACHER TO TEACH @ASU
She requires alot of work, alot of reading but all in all a great professor.Very understanding, when I explained to her why I needed to drop her class(nothing to do with her)she was very supportive. She demands your best.People you are in college, step it up.As an upper level Humanities student I have nothing negative to say.Loved the challange.
When I first got to ASU, I was told not to take Dr. Williams' classes. Well, I took her Engl 1101, Engl 1102, Humn 2001, and EARNED B's in all. And I'm a music major! Dr. Williams is very knowledgeable and cares about her students...you just have to do the work. I am taking her Humn 2002 this fall. If you want a challenge, take Dr. Williams.
This woman is very mean and demeaning. When you write your essays to the prompts she gives you, you think you did good. Then when you get your paper back, you failed. The prompts she gives do not match what she expects. Also her tests are extremely hard. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
The literature part of the class, which she taught was very difficult and hard. She is very mean and arrogant, and you will fail if you are not smart or have high expectations and very knowlegable like her. I would DEFINITELY stay away from this class because you will either get a C or D. She goes overboard with everything. STAY AWAY!!!
These other students are not completely wrong; YES Dr. Williams can seem unapproachable, YES she is demanding, and YES the material is tough. But if you pay JUST alittle attention to her lecture, you will ACE tests, & the interdisciplinary is manageable with PRIOR Preparation. the prblm is people come to humn and do nothing and expect an A! Do WORK
I simply found it hard to believe that my professor who was suppose to be grading my papers for grammer mistakes was talking to certain people in class in some getto slang. It was simply rediculous
Professor Williams is by no means a bad instructor. That being said, she is extremely boring. Be prepared to analyze the literature profusely and attempt to find hidden meanings that may or may not actually exist. The work load remains consistently light until the end of the semester when she makes the class write an eight page paper.
She is very boring and she grades very harshly. Her quizzes are ridiculous. Come prepared to class because she wants participation.
miserable time trying to get thru her class. grading criteria is somewhat a mystery. still havent recieved my research essay grade back yet. she begs for participation, although she should simply teach her material. She is the professor, after all. not much focus given to interdisciplinary info.
I would not recommend Professor Williams for HUMN 2002!! She is very intimidating which makes you scared to ever participate in class. She was always saying that we weren't giving her "feedback" but why would we ever want to when we feel like we are going to look stupid if we say the wrong thing. She isn't terrible but I wouldn't recommend her!
By far the worst teacher at Augusta State. She presented the information in a way that made it harder than what it was.Seemed like she didnt care about teaching the matter and was a very negative teacher. Trust me DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!! Humm 2002
Worst Teacher at Augusta State. Made information harder to understand and seemed very negative almost like she hated her job. Made info tricky almost like she didnt want you to understand the info. BEWARE DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
Made information harder to understand and seemed very negative almost like she hated her job. Made info tricky almost like she didnt want you to understand the info. BEWARE DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
1st time I have rated;only doing this b/c I want it stated that although she IS and I mean IS a tough grader, she is NOT mean and is EXTREMELY interesting to listen to.She makes the time in class go by quickly, she really does, and her quizzes are pieces of cake if you do the work. She grades essays as if she's a diff.person tho,TOUGH to pass essays.
I was so afraid to take her after reading these comments but many of them are just mean. She expects a lot from you but everything she does improves your writing ability. I got an A and not actually feel as though I know what I'm doing. Don't be afraid of speaking up or asking questions if you're not clear on something. Overall, loved her class.
Upon taking her class I thought that it would be like any other humanities class, I was wrong. This professor is rude and condescending. She turns this class into a soap box about everything else besides humanities...overall I hated her class!
I did not like her at all. She doesn't seem like she wants to be there and she can get an attitude extremely quick. I got a solid b in the class but her grading is pretty sketchy. She's okay if it's a last resort class, like there is no other option. But if u have another choice I'd wouldn't take her.
time spent in class was completely useless to what we need to know. should've dropped it.
Decent teacher; helpful and clear, for the most part; workload is light until research paper. She chooses the novel "Palm-Wine Drinkard"; hated it; a horrible book to complete a research paper on. One habit she has that pisses me off: talking about something unrelated to the work (poem, story, etc.) Wouldn't take her again although I passed.
Professor Williams was the worst professor that I have ever had! I don't like to give people a bad reputation, but I am saying this so that no one will have to suffer through her class like I did. She uses her class as an opportunity to voice her political opinions, and she rarely spends time lecturing over material you need to know.
There will be an in class timed essay every week. They do prepare you for the exit exam, but they will but you on the edge of failing.
Overall the class was pretty fair, if you want to pass you the student have to put forth the effort. I think she's a good professor actually.I encourage those who might take her, to be on top of the readings and you'll be guaranteed to pass.
Dr. Williams is not incredibly difficult or easy. All you have to do is read all of the assignments, use correct grammar and give plenty of examples in your essays. She seems like a hard ass but all you just have to be respectful and do your work. She goes through the writing process with you, so grading is fair and consistent.
Professor Williams is extremely difficult. The syllabus is all over the place and she is very unclear about when something is due. She does not use class time to go over things you need to know.
Dr. Williams in really not that hard. I loved her took her for 1102 and Humn 2001. She lectures alot and is very clear and sometimes require alot of work but she is a very good professor one of the best ive had.
The comments here are really mean. English II is somewhat difficult, but I went during the summer. Heavy reading but it is a LIT class so it's expected. I enjoyed the diversity. Her instructions weren't always clear but if you ask for clarity she will break it down for you. She determines who read with participation. She answered my emails same day
Rarely responds to emails. Took her literally the entire semester to correct a lab grade on d2l. Grades explications hard but usually quickly to post grades. Does not give As. No quizzes on reading, ever. Discussions in class not very helpful. No tests during class until final. One midterm & final interdisciplinary essay with a vocab test as final.
I enjoyed taking HUMN 2001 with Dr. Williams. She tells you what she wants and expects and if you deliver, you will do fine. I took her for ENGL 1102 HUMN 2001 and if you put forth the effort, the class is easy. She likes for you to be thorough and explanatory so she knows that you know the material. If you do that, you will do fine.
Not a bad professor
She is very rude when talking to students, she can be nice sometimes. She is not helpful at all, no guidance with class work either. I do not recommend her for ANYONE.
Likes: We read interesting stories. Dislikes: She gives little to no guidance. She is pretty rude to students. After visiting her during office hours for guidance for my paper, she was little to no help. I asked questions and was not helpful. I'm an AB student and gotten a D in her class. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take her.
Not very friendly and grades the essays very tough. I worked very hard and came out with a B.
The professor is direct, not rude. Her personality does not diminish her ability to teach writing. I learned a lot about justice in the course. My writing improved. I'm taking her for Humanities in the fall.
My FAVORITE professor so far out of the entire university. Amazing knowledge, Control over her classroom, inspiring woman. I wish she taught science because I would take her for every class I could. If you don't take her its a great loss and disadvantage on you. ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR! But no you cant go through her class without effort
Grades papers to a ambiguous rubric but will answer all you questions one on one. If you ask too many questions in class she'll make you look stupid. She expects class participation and will eyeball people till someone talks. Answer the prompts and exceed the min count and you should be good. Lastly ALL material is online. Don't buy anything.
Dr. Williams is an amazing professor as long as you do the right thing and participate in class. She answers all questions in office hours. The Dr has a lot of rules, but is very clear with everything. I suggest taking her classes. As long as you aren't an idiot and you turn in your work, you'll pass.:)
She is such an awesome professor. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff. She expects you to participate in class, and she makes pop culture references. She answers all of your questions as long as you go to office hours. It takes her some time to grade papers, but she has children. I recommend taking her class.
Not the easiest professor but she is intelligent and very passionate. I like that she forces students to think for themselves rather than allowing them to simply regurgitate information. I took her for Humanities 2001 & 2002. Your degree would be worth more if all teachers taught like she does.
Gives no clear directions, very hard to communicate with, would not recommend her.
She was a nice professor but she graded very hard. I put in a lot of work and only made a 90 in that class. An A is an A but I was constantly concerned that I would drop to a B because the highest grade she gave anyone in the class was 90 on any paper.
Don't get me wrong, she isn't a terrible teacher, but you really have to try hard not to fail her class. Make sure your portfolio is perfect, or else you will fail this class. She likes participation, and she gives long papers. I won't take her again though.
I didn't mind the discussions in class, nor did I dislike her as a person BUT be ready to work and work hard. Her assignments are not easy at all for this to be an intro English course. You have long papers due including an unnecessary (in my opinion) online journal. If your portfolio and papers aren't perfect, don't expect higher than a C either.
Her workload for Women's Gender Studies is insane. Be prepared, organized, and be sure to keep tabs on due dates. Participation is extremely important. She is reasonable though and appreciates students that are involved.
Very disrespectful teacher with a roundabout way of answering questions. Absolutely no constructive criticism on your papers, and revisions are graded. No clear pronunciation. Mumbles throughout most of her lectures. Would not recommend.
Dr. Williams has a passion towards African American Literature. The book you will read is Jubilee. She makes you write a lot of papers. Overall, I liked her as a professor. She is a tough grader though.
Dr. Williams is a good professor who cares about her students' success. There were many papers to write, but it did help to improve writing abilities. She considers her class to be comprised of 'student scholars' and expects you to show effort and willingness to improve. Very nice and cares about her students!
Basic english class but the theme of the class was Food. Yes, there are many papers but she is not a harsh grader. If you meet all the requirements for a paper the lowest grade you will get is a C. She is always accessible outside of class, responds back to emails quickly and she wants you to succeed. Extra Credit. I am taking her for English 1102.
I would highly recommend Dr. Williams if you want your perspective challenged. She is a fair grader and although I've gotten an A in one of her other classes, you have to work for it. I've also never known anyone to fail her class or get below a B. Basic level work will get you a B in this course.
Dr Williams is very nice! There was many assignments, a lot of group work and many grades. Shes a very difficult grader and doesnt give very good feedback, which made this course difficult for me. I really enjoyed the class though.
Most of your grade lies in the last few weeks of the class when she gives you no instruction, guidelines, or criteria for a huge group project. The only thing she gives you is negative feedback. Other than the terrible group proj, the rest of the semester is a breeze with odd lectures but no tests or quizzes, so long as you participate in class.
She is a fair grader, but she does make you work for your grade. With that being said, as long as you meet the requirements of her rubric, you should be fine. Also, participation and attendance count towards your grade, so be sure to show up for class.
Good professor, just a harsh grader. If you follow the rubrics and show up to class you will be fine.
Professor Williams is rude and sarcastic. Most of her class days are a waste, we do busy work and if you skip you can easily fall back into place. We do lots of groups projects that are very dumb. She assigns lots of work, something due weekly.
Very sarcastic and rude. She was no help whatsoever. I'd ask her questions about writing assignments so I could write good papers, but her responses for my type of questions were, "that's for you to decide" which was never helpful. Her feedback was never thorough. Her grading was hard, I'd go to writing tutors and still managed to make Bs or lower.
