I enjoyed his class quite a bit. it was on the 100 level and so it wasn't too intense, yet he had a passion for what he taught

Really fun guy. I didn't care much for sciences before taking this class, but he made it interesting because he's so passionate about it. I learned a lot. Homeworks and quizzes are easy, tests are just fine if you study. He gives you the highest grade possible and wants to help his students. Would always chat after class.

This man is bae! He truly cares about teaching and you! He has quizzes and homework but they are so easy and act as a buffer. He offers extra credit and drops your lowest test score. He also brings everything he is teaching to the gospel in the greatest way possible! Take from him!

Dr. Bybee is awesome. He really knows his stuff and knows how to teach it well. He's understanding and gives you plenty of opportunity to succeed in his class, and his tests are on what he teaches in class so no surprises in the testing center. Great teacher.

Really easy and interesting. You can essentially skip the classes and just skim the textbook and go to the reviews and you will get As on the tests.

Dr. Bybee's class was my favorite GE that I've taken, I highly doubt something else will surpass it. He focuses on teaching you the science and then discussing the implications, and is very open and willing to let discussions continue after class has ended. He is excellent at playing devil's advocate, so be ready for great discussion. Good times!

He's very sincere and understanding. The only problem I had was the way he words things--it's often unclear and difficult to decipher. Other than that, he's passionate and cares deeply about his students. Really stresses the fact that your grade isn't as important as your learning. I don't like biology but I didn't mind this class. Use the TA's!

Bybee is a great teacher. A quiz and easy quick homework weekly. A very easy class if you just show up to class and pay attention.

Took his biology class out of necessity because it is a required general. I like his like 5 different grading scales. He assigns a weekly homework and then a reading assignment from the text book. Definitely no surprises. Honestly, quite a boring class but about as good as your are gonna get for a general biology class.

Professor Bybee somehow manages to make general ed biology class an entertaining and interesting course. He is funny, engaging, and very clear in his teaching style. His quizzes are designed to trick you, but there is an alternate assignment for each quiz that is way better. Tests are hard.

Bybee is quite possibly the best professor I've ever had at BYU. Don't get me wrong I HATE biology, but his class was the highlight of my semester. No one wants to be in that class (GE class for Non bio majors) and he knows it, so he makes it as enjoyable as possible. His grading is extremely generous. You truly get the grade you deserve. take him

Bybee is a fantastic teacher. I usually don't enjoy biology, but I really liked this class. Go to the TA reviews and you'll do fine.

Really enjoyed this GE. He did a great job instilling the passion he has for Biology into his lectures and made it fun. Attendance is not mandatory but I never missed a lecture. He has multiple grading schemes, super awesome. Definitely would recommend, he made bio100 a fun GE.

Absolutely loved Professor Bybee! He is accommodating, understanding, and really cares. Also his lectures are hilarious, had us all rolling in our seats. He made me want to take all the classes he offers, and I'm not interested in Science. His class isn't necessarily an easy A, you still have to work, but it's an incredibly enjoyable class!

Bybee is a great guy. He really is such a nerd about Biology and clearly passionate. I was really able to feel the spirit in this class more than any other secular class you will ever take. Highly recommend this professor

I didn't like him at first but his lecture style grew on me. Gives lots of opportunity for participation. Lots of short easy papers and then one longer one but they were graded really easily. Tests weren't bad at all, got As on all of them by going to reviews and briefly looking over the slides.

Bio 100 was worth taking with Professor Bybee. It's hard but he was engaging so it's still manageable. His lectures are funny, try not to skip them. GO TO THE TAs FOR HELP, it works! Go to reviews before exams then look over them w/ the TAs after they're graded. Weekly hw due Friday and quizzes due Monday. Easy GE to knock out (biological science)

Interesting lectures, very funny. However, the tests were very difficult. If Bio is not your thing, expect to study ALOT. Keep up with homework and quizzes.

Dr. Bybee is a great teacher. His class and lectures were always very interesting and engaging, and his love of biology was kind of infectious. He's a funny guy and he cares about his students and their success. BIO100 was probably my favorite GE.

Dr. Bybee is a very cool guy and relates really well to students. He understands that the majority of his students are not strong in the sciences and shapes the class to fit his students. Lectures can get kind of long but he really does his best to keep things interesting. Homework is optional but I would definitely recommend it for test prep.

Dr Bybee is on your side 100%! He wants everyone to succeed and gives opportunities for extra credit and grades everyone based on their own individual style of learning. I always felt the spirit and had a lot of fun in his class at the same time. It sounds weird but who he is as a professor and what he taught changed my life for the better.

For someone who isn't that great at the sciences, Dr. Bybee sure made learning Biology fun! He is so funny, learned, and spiritual- all at the same time. He breaks down the content very well and doesn't go over-the-top with his expectations of Bio100 students. Ample opportunity for extra credit to pull your grade up. Also, USE THE TAs!!!

He has many grading curves and he individually applies the curve to each student. The one he picks is the one that will give you the best grade. TAs would hand out answers while looking at the real tests at their reviews. Super easy weekly homeworks. He knows that most people in the class don't like science so he caters well to those needs.

He focuses on the subject and tells you what you need to know. He is nice and helpful but holds a high standard. No busy work. His grad students are given a LOT of freedom in how they teach. One of his grad students is my all time favorite person. The other.. not so much... the question isnt what is bybee like, its what grad student will u get

He knows his stuff and wants you to know it inside and out as well. He can laugh at himself and isnt afraid to acknowledge frustrating situations and will help you work through them. doing research? - HE IS THE PROFESSO FOR RESEARCH! He does not mess around with frivolous work. If you are in his lab, you will publish papers.

His lectures are fun, he explains the notes and lets you work things out with your neighbor. He is super nice and caring and will answer any questions you have. He also keeps the Spirit in the discussions. He pretty much will do anything to make you pass. One of the best professors I've had. Highly recommend taking BIO 100 from him!

Bybee is one of the greatest professors at BYU. I took this for a general and actually considered changing my major to biology (like only for a second, but still). Lectures were super interesting and he is so passionate about what he teaches. The homework was simple and helped with tests. TA reviews are a must. Overall awesome class. Take him.

Evolutionary biology isn't my passion, but it sure is Dr. Bybee's. This class is difficult and sometimes kinda boring, but if you've gotta take it, Dr. Bybee is the man. His nerdy humor and enthusiasm will help you get through the class. Dr. Bybee loves nerding out with students, so if evolutionary bio is your thing, you'll love this class.

Loved him. His grading system is great. I'm not a big biology fan but I genuinely enjoyed this class. It was easy to understand and he was really inspiring. I literally almost started crying in class once because I was feeling the spirit.

The key to success in his class is attending lecture and doing the work. TA reviews are also super helpful. The tests are the majority of the grade, and be warned they are not completely multiple choice. However, Dr. Bybee and his TAs are great at preparing you for the tests. Stay diligent during the semester and you'll do great. It was a fun class

I never ever write reviews but I had to because Dr. Bybee is that good!! His class requires you to be engaged, but trust me it is worth it. Bybee is funny, super passionate about biology, and brings a spiritual perspective that relates biology and the gospel beautifully!! Go to the TAs and reviews and you will get an A!

If you are a pre med student that doesnt want to actually learn biology but just want an easy A to apply for further programs, he is not your guy. Lots of people in class had a vendetta against him because of that and complained 24-7 ALL semester. He teaches bio and holy cow- you will learn how to do serious Research wth him. He is the best!

Spent almost two months catching bugs with him in the South Pacific. We are now publishing an unholy amount of research. if you want research, hes a great professor for it. Maybe you dont get along on a personel level with him. thats ok. he will do everything in his power to make sure you get the best experience possible. And he is a great guy!

Some people didn't like Prof. Bybee's class; I did. He can be tough at first, but you can see he cares about his students. Bio 100 has a lot to cover, and he does a great job at teaching it. He can also help you get research opportunities! He's an evolutionary biologist- if that bothers you, don't take the class, or take it to expand your mind!

Seth Bybee is the BEST teacher for Bio 100. He is hilarious and teaches well, so everyone understands the material. He leaves often to go conduct research and the TAs arent phenomenal at teaching. He is an evolution biologist, which can bother some people in the class. Overall, he is the best teacher for bio 100 and I enjoy his class a lot.

GREAT lectures, brings science and religion to a place where they can meet and allows students to see how they can coexist! Tests are a little tough due to the written response portion, but pay attention to activities and you will do well!

Seriously one of the best classes I've taken. Dr. Bybee is a great teacher and focuses on LEARNING, not just memorizing. If you pay attention in class and study for tests, you should do fine. He does expect you to talk to the people around you a lot, but I thought it was helpful. Heard some great stories too. :)

I loved Dr. Bybees class! He presented several grading schemes and totally made it possible for us to succeed. He was honestly the funniest professor Ive ever had, but at the same time he was passionate about what he taught. Id definitely recommend him to anyone.

Brother Bybee's Bio 100 class is all about application, so for some it may seem a little more work than necessary, but the class helps you understand biology so much better. He is a Evolutionary Biologist and helps those who may struggle with the relationship of religion and science. He has lots of grading options to fit different learning styles.

The semester paper was a pretty big deal, but the criteria were clear and it wasn't too bad as long as you keep up on the work. Things were a little weird because of covid, but he kept the workload reasonable.

I honestly enjoyed taking this class from Professor Bybee so much!!! If you go to class and participate in the group discussions, you will be well prepared for the tests. Bybee also made the class a spiritual experience and showed how science and religion can strengthen your testimony and that it's ok to have questions. Would definitely recommend!

Such a cool guy!! I found his class pretty easy and he has a ton of different ways to succeed in the class - and you get to choose your grading method. His lectures are entertaining and informative. He does do a ton of partner work but its a great way really understand concepts and get to know new people :)

The class started out really unorganized and we ended up taking all the wrong reading quizzes which made it difficult. He did make it right when he realized it halfway through. The tests were easy as long as you go to class and study the lecture slides. I thought he was a nice guy. The class had a good mix of learning, spiritual moments, and humor.

Read a chapter of the textbook every week and write a paper on it. Then he goes over those concepts the next week to clarify and teach better than the textbook. Pretty funny. Strong testimony. Tests are hard, but you learn through the semester what they're like so you can study better. If you go to the exam reviews the tests are way easier.

Dr Bybee is a funny and charismatic professor. He cares about his students and you can tell he loves what he is teaching. He does however travel a lot so pray there are good Tas. The tests are hard so make sure you study the slides which he puts on learning suite. The lectures are super interesting and fun and he offers extra credit.

Professor Bybee is amazing! I really looked forward to attending his class each day, as he made each lecture fun and engaging. You can really tell that he loves his job, and that he has a real passion for the things he teaches. Definitely would 10/10 recommend Professor Bybee.

Professor Bybee is AMAZING and I never thought a biology class could be so uplifting, inspiring, and testimony building! I 10/10 would take this class again. However, exams are tricky, especially the short answer sections so be aware of those and go to the review sessions. Pay attention, work hard, do the homework, and you'll be good to go :)

When people say that the professors at BYU are amazing, they're talking about professors like Dr. Bybee. His class environment was absolutely incredible. He is passionate about his lessons, and taught me how to think about life in a new way. Today was our last lecture, and I teared up knowing I wouldn't be coming back after this semester. 10/10!

I love Dr. Bybee. He makes it clear by his grading system that he really wants students to learn the material and care less about the grade. His lectures are often super entertaining and make going to class worth it. I will say that his tests were kinda challenging, even though they were all about the lectures. I wish there were study guides.

Loved Bybee! Great lecturer and all around great guy. However, he had zero idea what was going on outside of lecture (lab, assignments, projects, exams, etc.) This would have been okay if the TAs weren't quite literally the worst I've ever had here at BYU (4 years). They graded incredibly subjectively & would send rubrics the day things were due.

There are many different grading schemes, so some require attendance and some don't. At the end of the semester he'll go through all of them and give you the highest grade he can. The lecture slides were available online, and studying them and redoing the activities will help you for the tests. The extra credit is longer, so start early.

Prof. Bybee is such a genuine and caring person. He feels like your dad. His lectures are concise and he will answer any and all questions, no matter what. The TAs can be hard graders sometimes but they are more than willing to help you during office hours. Use their review sessions and COME with questions because it is purely student-driven.

I loved Prof. Bybee he provides a powerful learning environment that combines the world of science and religion. He has a powerful testimony of the gospel and of biology and it's very inspiring to see that. His class was tough but I learned a lot. Prof. Bybee has different grading schemes, your amount of effort in his class will equal your grade.

Dr. Bybee is such a wonderful professor! He cares very much about his students, engages well with them, and holds meaningful discussions. The workload and tests (of which there are four) are reasonable. He doesn't give study guides for the tests, so if you make sure to do the readings and participate in class then you'll have a great experience.

I loved Prof. Bybee, he was very down to earth and cared a lot about his students, he told inspirational personal stories. I truly felt he loved his job and wanted us to succeed. He doesn't do study guides, and the review rooms are based on the TA's knowledge. But if you put in the effort, read the book(look on kindle), and study you'll do well!

BIO 100 was not my favorite, but I had to take it sometime, and Dr. Bybee was a good professor. He's very passionate about biology, and he loves engaging with the class. Expect to go to lectures and have discussions and debates a little beyond what is strictly necessary for the content.

Bybee is a real stand-up guy. He wants you to succeed and offers the highest grade of 5 grading schemes. Recommended for the confident risk-taker who skips class, studies the online lecture slides, and gambles their entire grade on the exams as well as the punctual, studious type. Just check over your exams with the TAs. They misgrade sometimes.

I was not excited at all about taking biology but Professor Bybee made it so accessible and interesting. He is a very engaging and respectful teacher and I learned so much and actually really enjoyed this class. Weekly assignments are easy enough if you go to class and do the reading and he has extra credit. Loved it so much very accessible.

Dr Bybee addresses tough subjects like evolution v. religion incredibly. He's very accepting of every question and people are comfortable asking them. I had a 3:30 - 4:45pm class period that I was not excited for, but this has become my favorite class. Most grades are from just attendance and reading quizzes and completion homework.

I believe Seth Bybee to be a good man. He cares for students and likes to lecture. It is evident he loves what he does and tries to elevate student's faith. I disagree with the way he administers the class- I think the grading schemes etc. are a waste of his time and it is irritating to try and know exactly what my grade actually is in the class.

Professor Bybee was one of my favorite professors during my first semester at BYU. He gives great lectures and explains complex concepts in a very comprehensible way. He's also so funny and makes very class enjoyable.

Bybee is a good professor and made biology interesting for me! There's a decent bit of reading for weekly quizzes and questions do show up on exams that are only mentioned in the textbook. Wasn't sure how to feel about the lecture on global warming because I felt it was a little biased, however that opinion is likely influenced by my own views.

This teacher is excellent. He is fairly adept at being apolitical. He prepares you okay for the exams, but they are somewhat difficult. Make sure to pay attention to the format, the tests are similar. He gives great instruction, and his TA's are good. The grading is difficult, I don't know how I got an A-. Pay attention, do the assignments.

The tests were somewhat difficult, but they weren't too bad after doing a lot of studying. He also has a very flexible grading scheme that makes it a lot easier to get a A in the class.
