class was GREAT!...i learned so much about myself and about life even though the course description said otherwise

Seth is a great professor and you will learn a lot if you take his class, but I'd say this only applies to people who are passionate about writing. Otherwise you'll hate him. He's strict on attendance, due dates and format, so read the syllabus carefully. His greatest strength is his willingness to discuss and help you with your writing.

He is strict on directions, which unfortunately I am not so good at. Seth is a cool guy and I actually really enjoyed the class. I worked my butt off and I would have gotten an A if I didn't slip up on one little thing (that most professors wouldn't have noticed). Because of that he gave me an F for the entire paper (1/3 of my grade).

I really enjoyed Seth's class. It has taught me many skills which I will use through out my college years, as well as in the "real world". I am an organized person who loves being able to discuss and work through things, which is why I think I thrived in his setting. Don't expect all A's, but don't be discouraged by that either!

To the people complaining about not being able to talk and having to staple your papers: yes, he treats you like adults. You're not in high school anymore. He's a mellow, nice guy. I developed a new perspective for viewing literature, music, and movies.

Slater is an easy going teacher, yes he doesn't like students interrupting his class but what teacher does? He is not like any other teacher he is actually very different. But who said different is bad? He gives you a topic and you come up with the rest. This is a very helpful class if you are trying to improve your writtings skills :)

He was a cool guy. I had no problems.

Overall good class, he is a good teacher and nice. You have to show up to class and be respectful but that's usually what you should do with any class. Explains stuff well, good course to take it was pretty easy if you do your work.

He's very picky on what he wants and his guidelines. If your the type of person that needs deadlines and structure, his class is the way to go because there is a lot of specific structure that he uses to help us make great work. I would recommend his class to everyone.

Overall a good experience. Doesn't like any distractions in the class and makes sure to his fullest ability that no one is distracting the class. His instructions are clear and his assignments are a great way of improving your writing skills. No b.s. teacher when it comes to work, and never cancelled a class. Overall a good professor.

This was an overall easy class. He is very clear with instructions and his assignments are very straight forward. You have to show up to class but the discussions in class are very enjoyable. Not a bad class at all, semester went by pretty quick

The class is alright. The professor gets off topic a lot and talks for about half of the class time. The assignments are not too hard, but the format Slater wants is kinda different. Anyways, its a good class to take if you are into psychology for the most part.

Slater is a funny professor and his question of the day is interesting

This class was super easy. There's a little bit of grammar not much. It's mostly writing essay but he gives you a good amount of time. He gives you chances (resubmits) he doesn't let you talk to classmates alone! If you talk good for you when you talk he prefers you to say it to the whole class. Come regularly and the class is an easy a!

Professor slater is an interesting character. He holds himself high and loves to get the class interacting with one another. He is a wise and highly intelligent man. Though his class can be challenging at times, so is life and so is a university writing course. He truly helps you format and structure a grade A paper!

His class is easy to follow and fun to take. If you're the type of person that needs deadlines and structure present in a course, his class is the one to take.

Seth Slater is very different from most professors in college . I would say his class is easy, but challenging at the same time. He shows us how to structor our papers the proper way, and the rest is up to us. A lot of students don't like him because of the way he runs his class, but this is a college level class, be respectful.

I would take one of professor Slater class again. I enjoy his class because it easy and fun to be in.

he was not a mean teacher at all. His expectations for the work were high and the class expectations were also high but if you were off task then he get on your butt about it. i did not enjoy being singled out if i had a Question. i had to adress it to the whole class cuz he assumes people with side convos distract the class, no one notices though.

Professor Slater is disorganized, kind of a Luddite (in its contemporary definition), forgetful(like myself), and is confusing at times. However, he is fun to talk to, has interesting ideas, and has a nice personality. I give him a C+ in teaching and an A+ in being a human. If he were more proficient in using a computer, I would give him a B.

I don't know why his score is so low. Regardless of what grade you get in his class, he's involved. If something's unclear, he's more than willing to clarify. He is talkative and easy to get along with, and generally a pretty cool guy.

He's a really nice person, but tends to ramble. We focused on the publishing aspect of writing as well, which was nice, but I wish we had focused more on writing techniques.

He's really cool and if you have issues like me don't be afraid to tell him about it.

I enjoyed this class and always had a passion for writing. Seth gives great advice and keeps me motivated on the path of publication.

His creative writing class was fun, but he could get a little over bearing sometimes. When we had class discussions, he kind of liked ruling over them just a little. When he didn't have us spend all class speaking about a single topic, I really enjoyed this course.

I really enjoyed taking this class with Seth. He cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. He's strict about arriving to class on time and turning in your work in the first ten minutes of class, but it's fair.

Seth is a very helpful and accomadating teacher and sets the bar to a level that is challenging but not intimidating.

Pretty easy class, hes very nice and funny I recommend him to everyone, hes very funny gets off of topic sometimes but its cool and you watch pretty woman which is cool but overall its really easy and just helps you learn. You really do learn how to improve your essays and it helps a lot and how to structure it better

This class was okay. It was pretty easy. Seth is a okay teacher and he cares about the students.

This class was fun I failed dude to not asking questions for my essay in or after class. If I asked questions more fequently. Than reviewed assignments, I would have passed. His class has clear directions and show how to pass. I love this class and hope to retake next semster

Seth Slater was a really good English teacher. He was very helpful and simplified everything for us, he really took the time and effort. He was laidback and was not so critical about our writing so we could be more creative. There were strict deadlines though.

Awesome teacher no final but expect easy work every week don't be afraid super easy stuff. No blackboard but if u do everything you will be good.

This class will challenge you. If you show up to class and participate often you will do great. Also homework is a big part of your grade don't miss the assignments.

Overall this is an easy class. Super easy grader. There are a ton of assignments. Most busy work, but if you do then you will get an A. Stickler when it comes to grading papers. Just barely not long enough you will get dock points. But it is super easy to get an in the class.

Funny. Strives for personal conversation and wants in depth conversation both in class and on paper. Just ask about dolphins and your in for some fun and crazy stories. Only negative is lots of reading in small amounts of time. Just be ready for it never ending.

Good class, gives some extra credit. Some readings are boring, but class discussion is always interesting. 8.510 would take again.

Great guy! Some lectures can feel redundant, but our class discussions were good. He respected us as much as we respected him, and I enjoyed his class overall.

Highly recommend Seth! He is such a good teacher! He doesn't leave too many comments on papers so I reccomend going to the writing center or talking to him before submitting. He does not except late work and can be tough grader but it's for your own good! He is a must! If you have the chance to take him do it!!

i always try to take Seth for any english class. I always laugh in this class, it goes by so fast. You do have a some what heavy load of work but its manageable. I had 6 classes each semester i took him and sports and passed with an easy A. You'll love him!

I've taken Seth twice so I'm very familiar with his grading, therefore I thought the class was pretty easy. You can only miss three classes so choose them wisely. Just make sure you do all the assignments. If you do, you should have no problem.

Seth is seriously one of the best teachers I've had. He's funny. He allows for interesting discussions that you will want to participate in. The presentations are group. If you turn in your work you'll sure to pass with flying colors

Professor is by far the worst professor I have ever taken. He is extremely unapproachable, his lectures are nearly impossible to follow, and when he grades it seems he has no idea what he's doing. I suggest you take a different instructor. Not helpful, and lazy.

But pretty easy to do. As long as you do the essays you will be fine. He's strict but not a tough grader. Class discussions are really fun!

Seth is a serious traditional teacher. He has a perfect learning way and method. As well as a great management experience If you really want to improve your English skills, then you need only to take the class with Seth.

I couldn't sing enough praises about this teacher. His teaching style is casual but enforces a lot of real life lessons. He is inspiring in many ways and encourages students to follow through with their own projects.

This professor provides fun writing assignments. I enjoyed class workshopping of our written work. He is very clear on formatting of assignments and the details do matter. Instructions are to be taken literally.

A true, down to earth guy who cares about the craft of writing. The first half of the semester is a lot of work, perfecting your writing, but the second is bare bones, as you discuss the publication process and become a little more individualistic in your writing. He may be a little strict, but he genuinely cares. 11/10 would recommend to friends.

This class really taught me a basic structure on how to begin writing. Sometimes you want to go out of the box but you might get graded down for it. Other than that you learn a different way of writing a story.

Throughout the semester we had days where we had very helpful discussions that really improved my writing overall. There's a lot of writing, but overall a great professor!

Gives Good Feedback on all Your Papers. Also Allows the Students to give Feedback to each other. Has a Clear grading Criteria. Showing up to class is passing. No need to worry on surpise pop-quizzes and doesnt give much test.

I really liked his class, he inspired me to push past my insecurities with writing and I learned great craft techniques as well. Be prepared to be a self starter with writing and stick with it as you will see improvement over the course of the semester.

Seth is a great professor who cares about his students and shows priority in use using the learning space to get comfortable sharing our ideas and opinions. He sets out clear expectations which need to be followed to a T in formatting, and directions. If it says underline this, or bold that, do so. You wont get a good grade if you are lazy.

Even though he is so picky, he is one of the best professor. Just follow his structure and an easy A you will get. 5 Essay, No Journals, reading only one book at home and create your question and answer this consider a quiz which is so easy.
