I took research methods with Dr. Surgan. Hes really helpful and wants everyone to do really well. Its not easy, its a lot of work but he'll help you any way he can.

Very student friendly. Willing to offer extra class sections/reviews as often as needed to help students achieve understanding. I was really NOT looking forward to taking this class, but he made it fun and interesting.

I took Dr. Surgan for Psychological Statistics and made sure that I had him for Research Methods. He is extremely fair, very good at what he does (although what he mainly teaches is not of much interest to him), and is beyond approachable.

He's really straightforward and has this weird sense of humor like everything has a twist on it. He expects you to pay attention and always be thinking along with him, but it's worth it. I've already learned more in a month of his class than I have in my other classes put together.

Definitley didn't mind spending three hours of class with him, even if it was for stats!! Such a cutie, really makes class easy to understand and really helpful. TAKE HIM

Great professor. Makes everything easy to understand, and is very helpful and approachable.

Amazing. Young, laidback guy who brings himself down to the students' level and creates a comfortable atmosphere. Is unbelievably available to his students (sometimes responded to my e-mails after 10 minutes). The class wasn't as difficult as it's made out to be. You're missing out if you don't take him. Absolutely no complaints!

Never had a professor like him. He teaches so casually like we're just having a conversation. Makes jokes and talks about ideas and then he'll say something like a comment and all of a sudden, everything we've been talking about makes sense in a whole new way. It's really amazing. I learn alot and I enjoy being in his class.

This course was difficult, but I can't imagine ANY professor teaching it more clearly. If you have to take this course, do yourself a favor and take it with Seth Surgan. He is very helpful. he'll answer emails promptly. He had an optional (extra!) review session. You'll understand & pass!

Seth Surgan is one of the best professors at WSC. Although stats is tough, he makes certain that you understand everything! He goes out of his way to give you what you need to do well, and he is super approachable and responsive! Do yourself a favor and take stats with him! He's easy on the eyes to boot!

By far and away one of the best professors at Worcester State! I have to be honest, walking into stats the first class I was terrified I was wondering how I was ever going to end up just barely passing. I left his class at the end of the semester with an A. He made the entire course so understandable, and he is easy on the eyes!

I had him for Research Methods and I made sure that I had him for Stats. He is a really good teacher. He uses examples that everyone will be able to relate to. If you have to take Research Methods or Stats, take them with Seth Surgan.

Best class ever. Learning about REAL PEOPLE?? Why aren't more classes like this? I just wish there weren't so many weird words.

Amazing professor. Surgan is truly the best professor at WSC. He makes everything as easy as it could possibly be and relates Stats to the real world. He tries to make class as interesting as he can possibly make it. He does have a weird sarcastic sense of humor that makes it interesting. He can sometimes talk too quietly which is his only downside

Definitely not what I expected but I gotta say I learned a lot. Tough class but he made it really interesting and fun. I think about psychology differently now.

He is the best! Great teacher, really nice guy and explains things until you understand. I thought I was going to fail Statistics but Im doing really well because he teaches in a way you can understand and rememeber. Definitly taking him again next semester!

I took General Psych with Professor Surgan and was so relieved to see that he also taught Psychological Statistics. He made a 4 hour long math class actually enjoyable. He will explain and re-explain things so that everyone in class understands. If you pay attention and do your homework and practice tests you can easily get an A in this course.

Took for stats & applied research methods. Easy-going, uses greater examples and is a generally nice guy. He is funny and treats everyone with respect. He can be a tough grader but he gives great constructive criticism. He doesn't waste your time (or money since he only recommends textbooks).

I took Prof. Surgan for both stats and applied methods. He was really great in both classes, but they're very different. He's definitely the best prof I've had (and I'm pretty picky!). He knows his stuff and teaches it in a way that makes it easy to understand. His feedback on papers is the best. He's helpful, funny, and down-to-earth.

Definitely one of my favorite teachers at WSU. Very good at making boring classes funny, and makes statistics seem crystal clear.

I thought stats was going to be hard, but with him it was easy, and one of my favorites. He made things clear and interesting. Not a boring day in that class. Smartium will be your drug of choice by the end. He was really funny and down to earth about things. really seemed to relate to students.

This is the hardest class I've ever taken. Seth is great but the class is so hard. He expects a lot. I didn't know research was like this. I don't think I was ready for it.

TAKE HIM! THE best professor I have had in a long time. He makes class great with his sense of humor. I haven't had stats in a long time, and was nervous about taking it again. He made everything so clear and is beyond helpful to anyone who needs it. Will definitely be taking him again for PSY307. And, he's totally hot.

I hate stats... beyond belief... but he makes the material easy to understand and relatable! He's easy going and relaxed. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask! He's there to help! Plus, I secretly want to marry him. Takin him next semester for Applied... heaven :)

Seth is an eccentric professor with a whitty sense of humor and a remarkable ability to clarify AND simplify all of the class material to ensure no one falls behind. He's pretty much amazing, plain and simple.

Seth is an amazing professor. He is willing to help you and go over things until it is set in stone. If you are not comfortable with the material he will make sure he does everything in his interest to help you! So nice, funny, and not to mention absolutely gorgeous.

Applied methods is the hardest class I've ever taken. Seth gives awesome comments on our papers and he's super supportive, but he definitely doesn't take it easy on you. He's soooo smart and friendly but you should only take 307 with him if you really want a challenge. When I finally graduate, I'm going to feel like I earned it.

Really nice guy. He knows the material really well making it easier to learn and understand. He explains everything so thoroughly, little room for confusion but if you need help, hes more than willing. Your whole grade is made up of 4 exams (100 pts each) & 50 pts for homework..

He's very clear about what he wants, and is an overall great professor. He kind of reminds me of Ferris Bueller too...

Seth is the best professor at WSU. I'm graduating and I've had them all. No one here is smarter and no one makes it easier to ask questions (or cares more about making sure you understand the answers). He's a great guy and flat-out brilliant (even though I think he tries to hide it). He teaches classes you have to take, so take him.

Exams are easy, just take down all his notes that he writes on the board. Read them over and redo the homework problems and you'll get an A. Homework is easy and only a few questions. Don't buy the book, won't need it. He is nice and always says he'll give extra help if someone needs it. Great Professor, would take his classes again defiantly.

Dr. Surgan demystifies statistics, using language that is understandable and examples that are relatable and, frankly, hilarious. His notes are hand-written in real-time - no powerpoint. Homework given over the weekend and gone over the following class. You get out of this class what you put in. Speak up if you're lost - he wants to help you!

Dr. Surgan is amazing! Currently in his class and enrolled in two more. Does not take attendance, post all notes online, and is very clear with lectures. Provides amazing examples and is always willing to help. If you stay on top of class material, you will easily earn an A!

Seth is such a sweet guy. He makes a three hour class tolerable. Will definitely take him again. He's also very attractive as far as professors go!

Seth is a personable and reliable teacher. He makes class fun and he helps make concepts easy to understand. Provides a practice exam for almost all exams. He truly wants to help his students. He's funny and he is not only physically cute but he's just a great guy.

Dr. Surgan is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have had him for a few different classes now.. A four hour Psych Stats class is not much fun, but somehow he makes it bearable. He is willing to help anyone and everyone, and he wants all of us to do well on tests! No textbook needed and puts all notes online after class.

Professor Surgan gives quality lectures and answers all questions well. The final exam was actually easier than the regular exams. Good guy. Good professor.

Took psych stats. The class was a little difficult, but the professor is always available to help you with any questions. You can do well in this class if you ask for help where you are confused. This is NOT a math class. (incase you thought it was, like me) Math has very little to do with this class.

Great professor, I took Psych Stats with him and his expectations were crystal clear. There were 4 exams and one homework assignment per week. If you take notes in class and do the homework you should understand the material. I found he made the class as straight forward as possible and I ended up with an A.

I had Professor Surgan for Psych Statistics SP 2016. It was a very tough class for me, however he worked with me one-on-one outside of class for an hour before class each week to make me understand the material a lot better. He is very caring and wants nothing more than to see you succeed. He has unbelievable patience. I would take him again!

Dr. Surgan is the best. He knows what he's talking about and explains things so clearly. He's also really funny when he wants to be. He gets really into the ideas but the way he talks about them makes it really easy to understand. I love not having to take notes in his class. He posts notes and practice exams and is always there for you.

He really knows his stuff. He makes psych stats so easy to understand! He is also pretty funny and sarcastic which lightens the mood in the class. He gives practice exams before every test which is basically the same thing that is on the tests. He is a very fair grader and does not give a lot of homework.

Tough material. He makes it as easy to understand as stats can be. Would definitely take him again.

Dr. Surgan is one of the best psychology professors at Worcester state! He is always willing to help students, even if the problem has nothing to do with the psychology department. He is extremely funny, helpful, and caring! Easy grader and doesn't give much homework unless you're conducting a research study.

Professor Surgan knows his material inside and out. We do not follow a book, because he teaches and writes out complete lectures for each class. The material is hard but if you pay attention and work for it you will do well!

Taken 3 courses (online and in classroom) from this prof including this one. Helpful, insightful, and clearly passionate about his subject matter. Takes time to ensure students understand concepts thoroughly. Very prompt in responding to email. Best teacher I've had at WSU, by far. Highly recommend taking research methods/applied methods from him.

Seth is one of the best professors I have ever taken at WSU. Psych stats is literal torture and he makes it so much better. He is hilarious, so caring and always works around your schedule to help or let you make up an exam. The class is VERY long, but he tries his best to make it not too bad. I would highly recommend taking him for any class.

He gives the most intense feedback on papers. Every line. He expects a lot but is always there to work with you. This was the hardest class I ever took. He doesn't have much patience for people who don't do their work. I learned a lot about what it takes to do research but if you don't work hard, you'll fail.

Best professor hands down, he really makes the material super easy to understand and whenever you need help hes quick to answer any emails and is always there for office hours. Homeworks were the same exact things we practiced in class and he always posts study guides for exams. Great class and great professor!

Seth is my favorite psychology professor at WSU. He genuinely wants all of his students to do well, he responds to emails really fast and has no problem meeting you outside of class to review the material. He is really funny and laid back and tries his best to make the class as enjoyable as possible. Definitely would take a class with him again!

Professor Surgan is the best teacher I have had at WSU! I took his class for Psych Stats and he makes stats class so enjoyable! He is really funny and genuinely cares about every student doing well! The way he teaches the course material is superb and if you do not understand something he is right there to help you. Wish all teachers were like him!

DR Surgan's lecture is direct from the textbook so the only thing to do is to be punctual at lectures and listen attentively and do the weekly homework to understand the concepts. It's not magic , because his lectures tells you whatever you need to know. He goes over lecture to make sure everyone in the class understands. He likes the teaching.

He's really the best. He teaches in a friendly way. You can tell he's thought about things for himself a lot before passing them on to you and it pays off. Doesn't even ask you to buy a book. I felt like I learned so much in every class that he made it fun to be there. I was actually sad when class ended. All my classes should be like that.

Amazing teacher. He WANTS you to pass and will explain and explain. The first test is the hardest. I thought I would fail but it gets easy as you start to understand. He makes it so you will. Homework was easy and helped with test. I'd give him 10 stars if I could.

I failed Dr. Surgan's class but he worked so hard to try and make sure it didn't happen. He went out of his way to try to help me and be fair to everyone. I have to respect him for that. I learned a lot about myself and the things I do to get in my own way. I got the grade I deserved but it will make me a better student.

This class is based on 10 HW assignments & 3 exams. Attendance is not calculated into your grade, but this is not a course where I would recommend teaching it to yourself. This class is very easy to pass if you pay attention and do the HW. He provides you with old practice exams that are VERY similar to the actual exam. He gives an optional final.

I just finished up Dr. Surgan's stats class. He's really good at explaining the ideas and helping you figure out your mistakes. He doesn't take attendance and doesn't make you buy a book. Just do the homework, come to class, and pay attention. I've never had a professor who cared so much or answered e-mails so quickly. He's a gem.

Dr. Surgan is hilarious and manages to make psych stats fun. He's clear about how he grades and sometimes will offer extra credit. Tbh I watch the recorded lectures in 1.5x speed bc he pauses a lot during them and that helped me focus on them more. Never opened textbook. I never felt afraid to say the wrong answer in class, he's v helpful!

He was one of my favorite professors at Worcester State so far. Psych stats is not fun but he makes it so enjoyable. If you put the time and effort you will pass and he answers emails SO fast. He is hilarious and a great teacher. Attendance is not mandatory. Great class and professor!

This was an asynchronous online course. What a relief after so many zoom classes! There are set assignments every week and as long as you follow the schedule, it's easy. He answers emails quickly and encourages you to ask questions about things you don't understand. I'm looking forward to taking a real class with him when this is all over.

Dr. Surgan is the absolute best! He is extremely accessible in and out of class and truly wants his students to pass. He gives weekly lectures and homework but always takes time to go over them to make sure it makes sense to everyone. Very understanding person and wonderful professor. Take him if given the chance!!

I love Dr. Surgan's class. He doesn't just teach stats. He teaches us how to read, think, and write. I feel more prepared for EVERYTHING. He posts recorded lectures and we meet to review homework. We discuss ideas and he'll show us some answers that people have sent in and we'll grade them together one sentence at a time so we all help each other

Really nice, smart, funny guy who wants you to succeed! No surprises on exams, if you listen to lectures and do the HW you'll do well. I got the textbook but didn't need it. Zoom class (during covid) was optional for HW review or questions. He responds to emails super quick and is happy to meet if you need extra help. Take stats w/ him if you can!

Funny, enthusiastic about statistics. He is super easy going about homework and attendance. But you will still have to study hard for statistics and listen to the lectures and do the assignments to stay on track. He responded quickly and is understanding.

Seth is the best. Applied research methods is a very hard course. Constant group work, presentations, concept maps, and papers. The work load and stress is deadly. Seth is great for any other course and even this one but if you don't have to take applied, dont.

This was an online course so I didn't interact with the professor a ton but he is a pretty chill and funny guy from what I can tell over zoom. Psych stats is difficult but his homework review videos are very helpful. There is a homework every week and then three tests so the tests can be stressful.

I just finished stats with Dr. Surgan. He is an excellent professor. He made stats interesting and knows his stuff, I actually had fun. He wants you to do well and he's always there to help you. He knows that a lot of people are scared of don't think they're good at math. He helped me become much more confident in myself as a student. Take him!

307 is so hard but Dr. Surgan is probably the best professor I've ever had and I've had them all. He guides you through every part of your research project and gives such detailed and helpful feedback on everything you write. He's very easy to talk to and wants you to do well. I learned so much in his class but it was very challenging.

Stats is a difficult course that you need in order to graduate with a Psychology degree. Take it with Dr. Surgan if you can! The lectures are clear and easy to understand. There is a replacement exam if you screw up and the biggest advantage in this class are the practice exams that he posts. Surgan is also funny and adorable to boot :).

I love the way Dr. Surgan teaches. The lectures are clear, detailed, and really make things simple. The meetings were fun and really helped to "nail stuff down". He cares about his students and knows that stats can be scary. He sat and worked with me for hours when I needed it. He seems to really enjoy what he does. I wish he taught more classes!

SETH, like common the name alone tells you how awesome this teacher is. I had him for Research methods 276, and plan on taking applied research methods 307 with him because he's just that great. He helps you when you ask, responds to feedback quickly. If you are having doubts about challenging academics, Seth is the teacher you want.

People told me I should take stats with Dr. Surgan and I'm glad I did. He's a great teacher. He knows stats is scary but he makes it relatable and he's so organized! Everything is always on schedule and posted for us. He grades quickly and gives great feedback. The lectures are long but worth it and he's always there to help.

I'd give Dr. Surgan 10 stars if I could. He knows his stuff and teaches it well. He's nice, funny, and he always helps. He answers e-mails and grades exams so quickly. Everything is organized. I don't think he sleeps. I've had him for stats, 307, and cultural psyc and I wish I could've taken all my classes with him!

He even gets old students to come back and tutor! I'm going to miss having him as a professor. Hopefully he'll teach another class I need!

Dr. Surgan makes stats manageable, with clear lectures and helpful homework review videos. Though tests can be challenging, his approach and unstuck study support make this class worthwhile.

Yesterday I sat thru a lecture about the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem and I actually enjoyed every minute of it. It's a great class and Dr. Surgan is a great professor. Take stats with him if you can!

I love the way he structures his class and he is just an overall great professor and person. I felt that his tests included the perfect amount of material and were designed in a way to not feel too stressful but still accurately tested my knowledge. You can just tell that he truly cares about his students' success.

Had to take online for PS101. Great class. You have to read the textbook in order to do the work, but he sends intro videos for each chapter so you can get an idea on what it's about. Weekly assignments and quizzes, but both are easy if you take notes on the readings. He also gives great feedback on each weekly assignment.

Probably the best professor i've had so far, I'm only a first year. Dr. Surgan is very caring, his lectures are easy to understand and he can be funny too which is great. I was very scared for psych stats but it's nothing what i thought it would be like. Just make sure to pay attention to the slides!
