Best Math Prof. If you cannot understand her, you should not be in math.

She's a great teacher. Tests are fair. Made us laugh.

An excellent teacher. Her notes are great. I think it is better than the textbook! Her midterms/quizzes are fair. Anyone can get an A if you work consistently throughout the course. I wish she is teaching Calculus II in the summer.

She is very patient, clear and makes you understand instead of memorizing stupid stuff!! With her system is easy to be a smart person after her classes. A little accent makes her pretty hot by the way!! Expect to work hard...but it's worth.

The course is hard, but if anyone was to teach it it should be Shabnam. She has an awesome attitude, is VERY helpful for those who are confused, is very fair, and is overall fun to have as a teacher.

Very tough course. Contrary to other opinions though, she is not unfair. Her test questions come from the book and she keeps her calculus class at a high level. She does not spend time on details so stick your face in the book if you want to do well.

Shabnam is a gem. I learned from her that if you fail to remember the right answer, you can always go back to thinking through the question rather than struggling to regurgitate--an approach to problems you'll find throughout life. Calc is tough no matter how it is sliced.

Shabnam is an excellent teacher. However, I'm assuming 75% of the class didn't agree with me, seeing as 10 out of 40 people in my class remained at the end of the semester. With all that said, if you take math seriously you should take her b/c she really knows her stuff and prepares you for 1170.

You know...calculus is hard when you're first introduced to the concept, but once it sinks in it takes your mind to places you didn't know were there. And thus, I have to thank Shabnam for sneaking us a peak into that mathematical mode of looking at things.

Shabnam is very smart. And very inspirational. She once told us that if you can't recall the answer to the problem not to worry, because you can THINK your way through it. And this little lesson my dearies goes a long, long way.

Shabnam is a very nice teacher. She actually care if people don't understand or if they are not doing good in her class (asks the class for input on how she she run the class). Shabnam is very helpful outside the class and takes the time to help you out.

Class is too easy..needs to speed it up a bit. Besides that, if you suck at Math, you may want to avoid her, as she doesn't explain things very well..if you are good at Math than she is a great teacher

I didn't do too well in her class, but I don't think it was because of her. Now that I look back at it, the quizzes were from the notes and h.w... the same goes for M.T. I mean if you really spend time just doing the h.w., going over the notes u should do fine. And for people who don't ... well its simple, they slacked off.

I think she's a great teacher. I mean MATH 1152 is a review of gr.12 plus some new stuff, so if you sucked in gr.12 math, take another course. She knows her stuff, and i understand. She's pretty easy, if you study and stuff. She's nice, teaches slow (b/c of the class). I'd take a class w/ her teaching

I think she is a great teacher. She is very clear and she answers all the questions. She always helps you out in the class and tries to keep you awake. Her exams are easy if you do all the assignments and study.

She tries her best to help all the students. She alawys explains everything until she is sure that everyone understands. She is funny and helpful.

Shabnam is a fair teacher. She tries to be very clear and help everyone out, but her English gets in the way sometimes. Still she is one of the best math teachers at Langara.

Iliked this class.Infact this was the first math class that I liked. Shabnam did a great job teaching this course. She was fun and her explanations were very clear. I do recommend her.

She was not easy. If you are lazy and trying to get by easily, do not take this course with her. But if you want to learn something, she is fine. She helps you out when you need her help. She makes you work hard. If you do all the work, you can get a good grade, but not easily.

Shabnam is a very approachable teacher, very willing to help, great sense of humour. Do every last homework question and you'll do fine. Almost all of the midterms and quizzes are right from the homework. She does move quickly in class so you can't really miss one, if you want a good mark expect a LOT of time doing homework.

Not easy. But an awesome teacher. She handled a few difficult students in the class wonderfully. I hope to be like her, when I become a teacher.

I had a bad impression of her at the beginning, but as the semester progressed, I realized that she is not that bad and I began to get used to her and even like her jokes. Try to attend her classes regularly and do all the assignements and you will be fine.

she becomes my friend after i took the course. she's patient and welcoming. she posts notes on the web so we can print them out and have more time to think about problems in class rather than copying notes. she's a bit careless. her tests are fine but sometimes gives us bonus. she has some accent but understandable. i really like her

suchhhhh a sweet lady alot of homework and regular attendance is required but its the only thing that can be done to get thru her course so i think she balances it well.

Took this course with her back in Fall 2001. At first I was a bit put off by her apparent overenthusiasm, but as time went on I got used to it, and learned more about differential calculus in her class than I ever did previously, because she didn't try to lard the class up with overly complicated explanations.

i had her for math and she's good, no doubt about that. She's willing to help and she takes the best mark out of your test and quizzes. Homework may seem alot but it is easy marks and all her test and quizzes are based on the homework. There are no surprises and gimmics in any of them. I would recommend her to anybody taking math 1152.

I thought Shabnam was excellent. Her notes (all downloaded from internet) were accurate and very helpful. There were no surprises on her exams (though a bit long) and they covered exactly what you could expect on the final. She will scale if the overall class does poorly. I would take her again.

She's the nicest prof in the world. Cares about students alot. Hard though. Homework and Quizzes are annoying as hell. Midterms are hard. Final is easy compared to her midterms. Recommended if you love math or are REALLY good at math

She talks a lot about irrelevent things, stories and the like. Not enough examples. Fair marker. Had a meeting with her and she wasn't there-late, so I went looking for her. When I came back she was there and told me I was late. Called me a liar. Good teacher but I lost some respect for her as a person.

Almost done my time at Langara and I still think she was my favorite prof. I think some people may be intimidated by her, but they just don't get her sense of humour. She really understands math and is able to convey it in a way that even an english major could appreciate.

Amazing teacher. Amazing class. Anyone who gives Shabnam a low rating is just bitter. Speak up in class, ask if you don't understand something, and you'll thank yourself for taking this course.

Friggin sweeeet teacher. Has a great appreciation for mathematics, and wants to give that to students. Great discussions. Definitely recommend her.

Fantastic teacher!SFU student really passionate about math.She has one assignment per week and one quiz following it the next day.Print outs are online and you just fill in the blanks during class.Take advantage of math help in library.She is a fair teacher and sadly she will not be here the next semester b/c she is going through pregnancy.- Zarko

An awesome teacher. She explains things really well and knows Alot about math. If you have troubles with math, just go and talk with her, and I'm sure you will understand after she explains it to you. I definitely recommend her, even though I did horrible on my 2nd midterm, but that's my fault.

Fast paced classes, but we do take breaks in between and discuss about life. I recommend her because even though she teaches fast, she covers everything you need to know and more. Be prepare to do the work though, math takes practice.

hard marker, but explains everything you dont understand. the class was too fast though and sometimes i could hardly follow her. Overall, she's fun - we had a class who didnt talk at all, but she made us :) the most awful thing we had to go through was a freeezeing classroom - B 010 - do not take courses if they are scheduled there =P

Shabnam is a delightful teacher, very funny and tries to keep the class interested in lecture. But damn, are her assignments hard. She will usually explain the basic concept of something, but not elaborate on any complex derivative uses for this concept (Which I wouldnt mind, but it comes up in many assignments she gives, which is kind of silly)

A lot of practice is needed for finite, so if you do your part, you'll do well. many opportunities for extra credit. she has generous office hours and she's always willing to help.
