Love Shadi! Currently in his psyc 101 and would definitely take another course from him. Very funny prof and midterms are easy, but keep in mind youre responsible for lecture material AND textbook- he does go over vast majority of textbook content tho! Definitely would recommend

Gives power points that are pretty detailed so you can just sit and listen instead of trying to write everything down, he has a good sense of humour. If you show up to lecture it's pretty easy to pass his tests. Likes class discussion and getting students involved with their opinions and ideas.

Overall great prof and good class. All lecture powerpoint posted online. Would highly recommend just bringing laptop with powerpoint open and taking notes within the powerpoint.

Shadi is a great prof, his lectures are always so interesting and well explained, I enjoy coming to his classes and learning from him. He has a great sense of humour and can be firm but fair when he needs to be!

Shadi is my favourite Prof at the U of R! He is hilarious and very easy to follow during lectures. However, in order to do well on his midterms and the final, you must do all the readings from the textbook AND study from the in- class notes and PowerPoints. There is no additional work aside from the exams so the workload isn't bad. I recommend!

Lectures are run completely off slide shows and tests are based on them as well. skipping class won't harm you but you will miss out on his amazing personality.

He's a fantastic guy. Two midterms and a final, no extra assignments so an easy workload. Classes are based off of lectures, but textbook is definitely helpful to study with. Hilarious, keeps class interesting and definitely knows his stuff! 10/10 would recommend!

Best prof ever! Shadi has a very clear passion for psychology and it radiates through his personality. He is genuine and truly wants his students to be interested in the course and get good marks. He gives good advice as to what you can do better on the next test if you book an appointment to discuss studying methods with him. Highly recommend!

Lectures followed along with the textbook. Shadi adds in extra videos and information which helps to grasp the concepts better. All exams were multiple choice. Shadi is a funny guy and seems like a nice person.

Beshai is actually such a cool guy. He speaks to the students as equals rather than people who below him. He swears quite often and makes the occasional inappropriate joke, and I think that makes it very easy to respect him a bit because he doesn't take the class too seriously.

Shadi is fun and relatable, he made the material very interesting. Don't be scared off by the syllabus, as it may seem tough, but if you put in the effort you get the rewards.

Shadi is really knowledgeable & works hard to make the class engaging. My favourite part of the class was the in-class exercises that he designed. He made them both creative & relevant to current cross-cultural issues. I learned a lot from this class, but be prepared to do a lot of reading to get the most out of it.

If you are planning on taking psychology, try to get this professor. He is willing to stop in class to address any questions that the class has. The class has 2 midterms and a final so it is fairly relaxed. Just be prepared to read the topics discussed in the lecture because it is common he asks questions only covered in the textbook.

Shadi is a great prof! He's very engaging during his lectures and often promotes class discussion. His puns are 12/10 and he'll make the occasional inappropriate joke too. His tests are a bit tough but I was still able to do fairly well in the class without the use of the textbook. If you can, try and take classes from this prof!

Shadi is a great professor who understands students and respects them. He takes the time to answer any questions and uses examples and analogies that everyone can relate to. What's more, he's actually hilarious and makes amazing jokes! As long as you get the textbook and don't slack off in class, it's very easy to get a good mark.

Shadi is a good professor to take - very knowledgable but just needs more teaching experience. He makes a lot of jokes in class and the occasional one is dirty. You are only graded on two midterms and one final - all non-cummulative. The textbook is optional.

Shadi is a smart man and knows what he is talking about. He explains things in a way that makes it easy to understand. His jokes make him more enjoyable as he doesn't come off as your typical professor. I would recommend getting the textbook though as his texts do use make use of them and will contain info not covered in lectures or slides.

This was my last elective for my final year of my degree. I have taken several classes with professors who fail to achieve what Shadi Beshai demonstrates so effortlessness. That is, He does an incredible job of keeping the class entertaining, engaging, and informative. If you take the time and put in the effort easy 85% or higher.

He is a great professor. Honestly study good for the midterms and final and you will do well. Everything on the exams is very well covered in class, but it doesn't hurt to read the textbook for a little extra info. Overall great class, and great prof to teach it.

One of the best profs I've ever had. Made me fall in love with psychology. Lectures are interesting and he's super funny. You can get most information from lecture slides, but it doesn't hurt to read to the textbook because some test questions come from them. I encourage anyone taking psyc101 to take it with Shadi!

Shadi is able to turn stale topics into attention-grabbing lessons with his teaching style. I only missed class one time and I was genuinely bummed out that I wouldn't get to attend. There is lots of studying to do for the midterms, but nothing overwhelming.

Shadi makes psychology very interesting by spicing it up. He curses and engages the class, makes a pretty chill class. His exams are ok, doable if you studied, but passable if you didnt.

Some of the lecture materials are not in the book so attendance matters. Some of the midterm questions are tricky but you can use logic to answer this. He doesn't post any sample questions for the midterms (just the structure).

He is a very good professor and shows that throughout his lectures with the abundance of knowledge he has. There are 2 midterms and one final exam. His exams are average if you take the time to study.

Good Class, you do need to read the textbook as well as attend lectures but if you follow what he tells you to do you can do very well.

Only graded on two midterms and a non-cumulative final. The exams are quite easy with a little studying. Reading the textbook chapters are quite useful, I would recommend purchasing it. Overall Dr. Beshai is hilarious, I would recommend his class, the lectures are engaging, and he knows his stuff.

He presents mastery of the subjects he teaches and definitely knows how to grab the students' attention. He's also very funny and understands how to relate concepts to the age group in class, so they understand in more simple terms. Would take again!

If you're taking an intro to psych it 100% should be with this guy. Lectures are well organized and he posts them on URcourses. He also tends to end class like 15 minutes early which is always a plus. We only had 2 midterms (25% & 35%) and a final worth (40%). He has a great sense of humor and class discussions are encouraged.

Shadi is an amazing prof. You can tell that he really wants his students to succeed as long as your willing to put in the work. He is very understanding and keeps his lectures interesting. The textbook really helps you, just make sure you keep up with the readings. You can also participate in the psychology pool for extra credit which is awesome!

Good prof, makes the content interesting. Had 2 midterms and a final only, which I liked personally, none of the content on tests are cumulative. most of the tested content is on the powerpoints. the textbook can be dry to read but very helpful

You can definitely do well in his class just by reading the textbook, but his lectures do make the course much more interesting. He hasn't given 1-week heads ups before midterms or stated any cut-offs in the material, but it's in the syllabus. As a bonus, he's very handsome and laid back.

Shadi was a great prof! His midterms (2) and finals are simple mc, fill in the blanks (with word banks) and easy SA questions. A non cumulative final just the last 2 chapters that wasn't tested. Make sure to attend lectures because he'll test you stuff that isn't always on the powerpoint. He's a hilarious professor.

Definitely keeps it interesting. READ THE TEXT. 30% of the exam material comes from the textbook. Lectures actually explain things so make sure you show up for them. Do the studies for extra credit. Usually get out 15 minutes early on the daily. If you're ever confused, ASK! He explains really well and will meet with students during office hours.

Shadi is a great professor! Attendance isn't mandatory, neither is the text. BUT reading the lengthy chapters GREATLY improves understanding of concepts and it goes much more in-depth than his lectures. Shadi's super approachable, funny, and, -to all the ladies- not too hard on the eyes. ;)

Shadi made lectures interesting and enjoyable. I always walked away from class with a new appreciation for psychology. His exams are hard so you need to know your stuff, but he only has exams. no papers so that was really great.

Easily one of the most incredible, encouraging, approachable professors on campus. Attend lectures (which, by the way, are always entertaining and interesting), read the textbook, and follow his advice, and you'll do great. He is very clearly passionate about his field and leaves his students with knowledge and skills far beyond his exams.

I have absolutely loved taking this class. The lectures are interesting and he explains everything thoroughly. He set up the class in a way that sets his students up for success. If you listen to the lectures, read the textbook, and make sure you understand the material, it isn't hard to do well. I hope to have him again in the future.

He has made this online class so easy to follow along with and do well. He gives quizzes on each unit worth very small marks, but they set you up for success on the exams. Watch the lectures, take notes, and read the textbook and you are set!

Very well organized online Psych 101. Lecture notes are given and are clear. No surprises from the lecture vs the textbook material. The exams accurately reflect the material. Engaging lecture style. Calm and certain voice which is nice to listen to and to follow along with. Engaging course. Would absolutely take a course from this prof again.

Shadi was hands down the best prof I've had during online classes. He was accommodating during the pandemic and cared for each individual student. He answered students questions and concerns in a timely manner and didn't hesitate to take time out of his day to help. His recorded lectures were interesting and kept you engaged. Would recommend Shadi!

Pretty straightforward online class, the material was very interesting and the lectures were good too but you would be fine even if you don't watch,just read the textbook. A quiz for each chapter,2 midterms and a non-cumulative final which are not very tough,just make sure to do them on time.

I really liked Shadi for intro to clinical psych! Hes funny, caring, and straight forward. The final was a bit difficult however that could be in part because there was no midterm, so there wasnt a big test for a reference point. Otherwise, really good class! I enjoyed having him as a prof

Dr. Beshai is a great proof. His lectures are very comprehensive and he gives tons of supplementary videos that go more into depth if your having trouble understanding a concept. I cant wait to be in more of his classes!

His lecture was very interesting and he was very nice, but unfortunately psychology is not easy for me, otherwise it is a very good course.

Prof was nice & has flexible office hours. You NEED the textbook. If you don't get the textbook, you will miss so much info that's on tests. Grades consisted of quizzes (13 total %), 2 midterms (29% each), and 1 final (29%).

Psych 101 with Prof. Beshai was pretty straightforward. The lectures are comprehensive, and the textbook is essential. Using unstuckstudy along with the provided resources helped me grasp the concepts. Overall, it's a manageable course if you stay on top of the work.
