Good instructor, not too hard on speeches and tests arent hard if you study.

Lots of in class projects. Much better than the boring lectures most teachers give.

Mrs. Adkins seemed to be a nice teacher, but I soon found out that she has it in for any guys that are in her class. Don't expect an "A" thats for sure! Also, for a speech class, you would think that you would need to be able to speak english clearly so people can understand you. Not the case here. If you are foreign and female, you're in the clear

This was my first speech class to take and Adkins made it easy for me.She gives no extra credit but gives easy assignments.The speeches are easy,but the comprhensive tests are a bit tough.She deosnt really go over it to much.Most of the questions come from the notes.So,get the notes they help.However,I did take the class in 8 week class.

The class was just too easy for me. I didn't even attempt to study for my speeches and exams and I did well. I even took the 8 week class and I managed to get a good grade.

i guess shes okay eventhough i got a low B in her class. she gave us 4 big speeches which are very easy if you can really talk infornt of a class. she wants your outline and other paper works submitted to her before the class starts. late papers not accepted! do wat she wants you to do. and participate in class, that will pull ur grades up! :)

I guess she's okay. I thought I was doing well in the class and ended up with a B because I was late a few times. She takes points off your grade for being late. If she didn't do that I would have made an A. She drops your lowest test grade. The speeches aren't hard, they're easier than her exams. She's nice, just make sure you're on time to class.

Ok let me just say that if you are thinking about taking her class..don't. There is an easy class than her's!! She will seem nice.. but even if u are a minute late when a speech is due she will deduct 10 points! She make you do dumb speechs and a long research paper. Her class wasn't boring but don't expect to make an a in her class

If u can't read instrucs on how to do bibliography or can't follow directions,don't take the class.Likes to assign outlines for presentations & u must follow guidelines exactly.

She is a great teacher. You are allowed to drop your lowest grade, and she makes it really simple. The mid term is a lot of work, but if you do well on everything and dont drop anything you dont have to take the final. I would take her again for sure.

She is a great teacher. If you do what she asks, come to class everyday and make sure you are prepared for your speeches you will get an A. If you don't show up and don't try you will not get a good grade. I did all my speeches and midterm and so I did not even have to take the final. Got an A in her class.

I don't like this professor. I know the person, rated this professor on 12/12/08, was taking the same class with me. She got an A in class without taking the final exam. Unfairly. A lot of works to do:4 presentations by powerpoint, a midterm, a final exam, and >=4 page research paper. Surely 100%, only the person mentioned above got A in our class.

If you think you are a great speaker, and you wish to be challenged, take Dr. Adkins. She taught the course the way it needed to be taught. She will require research and outlines for every speech (+ more paper work), but in all, she makes a point because in the real world it won't be easy. She is very helpful!!! It's all up to you to get that A.

shes an awesome teacher. she makes sure that you know what you're doing in all of your speeches...she'll help you out by looking over your outline and essays. she give extra points or daily grades by showing up to class in participating in activities that correlates to each of subject of each speech

I took speech twice because I made a D in her class. Both classes were 8 weeks. She demanded the same amount of work as a full semester class. I think she had plenty of time to grade all this work. I made an A the second time from a professor who taught an 8 week class LIKE AN 8 WEEK CLASS!

Great professor, ofcourse you have to do presentations in front of the class, but i think she worked with me and I feel a little more comfortable with speaking now!!! Quizzes, exams, ebook, and other helpful tools are made out for you to understand how to do something right online.

I took this class as a Hybrid class. It was pretty basic and the professor was super helpful. However, She does grade hard and there is a lot of busy work.

I actually passed with an A. It really wasnt difficult. Took her over the summer so it was a 6 week class. Yeah there was alot of work, including 4 presentations. They werent hard to do at all and she made it clear on what she was expecting & was helpful. I would definitely recommend her. Shes big on attendance tho, and also arrival. DONT BE LATE!

I enjoyed her class, I felt like I learned alot about public speaking after the course. She is clear on what she looks for when you present your speeches. I took her class during a minimester so it was a lot of work you had to do, but overall she is a good instructure do the work and you'll get a good grade.

I had Dr. Adkins in the fall semester.She is a helpful and wonderful professor I have met in my life.I had learned something new everyday in her public speaking class.She is willing to help her students if they get worried or get stuck on something they don't understand.I definitely recommend taking Dr. Adkins for a class because she is the best.

Hybrid course. Dont see how a Speech Communications class can be taught online. Test and exams mostly did not have anything to do with the notes or the book. Not east would not recommend. Supposed to be an "honors" course and is the exact opposite.

She won't understand if you have a family emergency. I work soo hard for this course and I had to miss class for a family emergency. I ask her to give 4 more hours to complete my assignments and she refused. She takes points off for every little thing. Take another professor if you could!!

I liked dr. Adkins. She was helpful, kind and clear in her expectations. I felt she tried to help student by giving lots of explanation plus examples and extra credit. She is the best. Recommend HIGHLY.

This class was suppose to be person to person, but she handed out work in person (power point assignments), and a huge amount of work online. In order, to pass the online assignments you have to REALLY understand what the book is talking about, NOTES DID NOT HELP!

professor made class interesting: activities requiring interaction with the class. quizes/test were all based on the textbook chapters assigned and class powerpoints. yes you will have to read it, and yes you will have to "REALLY understand" the text to pass test/quizzes (who would have though?!) speeches DO REQUIRE practice, her class is NOT HARD.

One of the best professors I have ever taken. She is really helpful and her lectures are amazing and very interactive. She has many fun activities and there is a lot of online work but not confusing or complicated, and she is always ready to help you.

Reading your text book is important, lectures are a little lengthy but if you pay attention and take notes you'll be fine. She's a little picky on how you write your outlines and she will NOT accept late assigments. Online assignements are vital to be completed and turned in on time. There's no room to slack off!

Choosing her is the best way for this summer 1, so she is really nice and helpful. However, there are a lot of online assignments and quizzes, her outlines are needed to be well done and she focus on your speech class, but no confusing and no missing takes her class. She grades easy. If you are hard to understand any thing, let her know.

If you're looking for an easy A don't take this class! you are quized on each section 16+ quizzes (50 questions each)(4 test (50 questions). 4 power point, outlines, and a class assignments every class. Half our class dropped the second week. I passed with an A. she likes eveything done her way, she gives you an outline , you had better follow it

Took her for honors speech and it was good. A lot of reading and the quizzes are exactly from the textbook. Tests are easy if you read the chapters well. She helps out a lot for the honors project. She's highly organized.

Dr. Adkins tells you what she expects upfront and she is more strict than other professors. That being said you can pass her class but you will have to work for it. It's not hard just time consuming. If you talk to her she will try and be understanding about personal issues. Online ppt. is heavy but to your benefit. Interesting Teacher.

This was a difficult class for me because I have a fear of public speaking. I even melted down a couple of times, but Mrs. Adkins encouraged me and was inspirational. I really learned a lot in this course, and though I am not going to seek a job that would require public speaking, I am more confident in front of a group. Highly recommend!

If you have more than 3 absences she drops you. She's nice but she's a tough grader. I hate public speaking so this class was hard for me. Honestly, i made terrible grades in all my speeches. She gives you good feedback on your speeches.

Excellent professor! She's very clear about what she wants and you learn something. Yes, she has high standards but we are in college and should be able to read, write, and speak like we are. Any student should do fine in her class if you do the work and skip the excuses.

She lays out pretty much what you have to do out in front of you, as well as having most tests easy to access. Really easy to work with and pretty funny as well. Really enjoyed her class and would definitely recommend.

Dr. Adkins is very helpful she truly cares about her students. She's very thorough and grades assignments quickly. Her expectations are clearly communicated and there are many opportunities to earn extra credit. Keeping up with the chapter quizzes, practicing speeches will guarantee an A in this class. Don't expect an A. She gives a lot of essay assignments and is a hard grader. I did all my essays and even got help from my English professor and the writing center but she somehow found mistakes. I would not recommend.

Professor Adkins is awesome! She replies fast and is always there to help you whenever you need help, especially when it comes to writing your speech. Took her for summer and there were 2 tests, 3 speeches and multiple short and easy quizzes.

She has been one of my favorite professors so far at Lone Star College North Harris, She made the class super easy by laying out a weekly schedule of what you need to get done for the class. All the assignments are do at a set time so you don't need to consistently check what time all of your assignments are do. Very easy to contact.

She has really specific guidelines that make it a chore to complete the assignments and isn't willing to work out a solution if you have trouble completing them. She expects you to find a solution without any help, and whenever I had a question she never really did a good job to clarify/answer it.

A caring teacher. I took her this summer and relly enjoyed her class. I learned some interesting things. Has clear directions that are easy to follow. You will be successful if you follow them.

Ive taken Professor Adkins before and she is the most organized professor she gives you lots of examples for every assignment and you don't have to wait around for your work to be graded.

Absolutely loved this class. She was very kind even though I accidentally missed the first day of class. In order to pass you have to pay attention, be there every day on time, and dedicate time outside class for your speeches. As long as youre willing to participate and learn (and can deliver a decent speech) youll pass.

The quizzes and tests are super-specific minor details from the textbook which is super annoying. She was somewhat organized. It was organized by "week" which ends on a Thursday, so it was confusing. EVERYTHING surrounds the textbook. Her notes were vague and not helpful, but she grades pretty quickly. The textbook is a must.

Dr. Adkins is very responsive. If you need help she will take the time to give it. I liked her organized system in D2L. Its easy to follow. There is also clear directions and extra credit. I tell everyone to take her.

Dr. Adkins provides helpful resources and steps to work around the D2L website and her assignments. Is responsive to your work. You don't really need to purchase the book as she has the main points of each chapter posted. She's very serious about citations in the informational and persuasive speeches. I recommend preparing for your speeches!

Dr. Adkins really puts in the initiative to answer students questions about assignments in a timely manner. She allows extra credit on the 3 exams and 2 tries for each chapter quiz. Her rubrics are easy to follow, she grades very quickly and gives good feedback on speeches and outlines so you will know what to fix or change. I would recommend!

She is a great teacher she cares about the students and emails back fast and gives you really good feedback!! If i could have her for all my classes i would!!! She is also a fast grader so you wont be inpatient on what you got on a assignment it will be there in the next couple hours. I honestly love her.

If you wan too right an essay every week then go ahead and take this professor. I actually think it would kill her to ever give a student a 100% she always found something negative to say about anything you turned in. About 50 questions quizzes like 5per module we did like 10 essays. They werent difficult to do but shes definitely a hard grader.

You literally had to right an essay EVERY SINGLE WEEK, and she is a really tough grader. I am convinced that she has never given a grade above 90 on an essay, I've had 4 different people check my essays and they have all said that they were fine but she always has something to nitpick about.

Dr.Adkins helped me a lot through her class she gave me positive feedback. Although she assigns a lot of work it's easy to get through especially if you ask Dr.Adkin for help. She grades fairly on what she sees and hears of our work so if you tried hard to complete your work your grade will reflect it. Overall one of the best professors I had.

I took 8 weeks class and it was so fast. Every week is a lot of stuff to work over. You have to pay very much to the detail that assigned from the questions, unless you will receive bad grade. She is a tough grader. Just do your job and turn on time, the rest is ok. She does give extra credit, however, no late submits will be accepted.

Requires to post our discussion + 2 responses on different days so that "we don't try to rush to get it over with", but if I can knock out some assignments in one sitting, I will. Due dates are at 8 am instead of 11:59 pm. Just doesn't make sense especially for a community college.

I took this professor two times once for public speaking and once for interpersonal. She is amazing!!! She,s very patient even when students are lazy and want to slack off. Her teaching methods helped me be a better student and I am grateful.

This professor absolutely works hard to make sure a student can succeed. They give a lot of help, answer emails right away, have extra credit etc, but you must manage your schedule to be fair. This professor is fair.

Good professor, extremely firm but thorough! Tough grader but, all she really wants is for you to put in effort. Not much extra credit. If you take the class, you definitely have to put in time and effort because she will know. The due date time is 8am, NOT 11:59pm. Attendance is so important! You miss one day, you miss a lot! Shes literally such a harsh grader AND FOR WHAT??? It's annoying turning in well developed essay and her feedback consists of basically stating it wasn't good enough. I am a good writer so it's hard for me to belive someone who first of all isnt even an english teacher to give back such strange feedback. Wouldnt take again.

Professor Adkins is a nice teacher, and I would definitely re-take her class. You will need a textbook, however, to do the 25-question quizzes and 50-question exams. She gives out 3 exams, 14 quizzes, 3 to 4 papers, and 1 speech throughout the session. When providing feedback in the discussions, don't be brief. Overall, nice and chill teacher!

She was a good teacher in general. However, don't expect to get full marks on your papers, because she is a tough grader and doesn't give out 100s. My best grade for a paper was a 93. She usually gives out 80 overall. Make sure to have a textbook as well because everything she assigns is based on it. Without it, I'd be lost in the course.

This teacher was very unresponsive to emails, even when I asked important questions about assignments. Grading often felt inconsistent and confusing, with little to no feedback provided. It was hard to understand what was expected, and the lack of communication made the class more stressful than it needed to be.

Dr. A is the best professor! She has straightforward assignments that are simple to follow. No way you don't do fine unless especially because she quickly replies to emails if you email her with questions. Learned a lot that will help me in my nursing field. Should definitely take this professor!

Dr. A is the best. If you don't do well in the class you can only blame yourself. The class does require you put in some effort and not blame the professor for what you don't do. Definitely a must take instructor!

Dr. Adkins is an amazing professor, who is usually generous with grades and feedback. As long as you do your assignments your best and on time, before the deadline, you will easily pass. Finish your discussion posts early on if you're taking his class online. They're also graded and you can only reply to one student per day to satisfy the rubric.

Professor Adkins' grades are pretty strict. Make sure you read each chapter so you understand what's happening, and beware of the discussion posts. They need to follow the requirements set in the rubric, or they alone will hurt your grade, and they're due at 8 am, not 11:59 pm. Overall easy class, fair professor.
