BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!!!! IF you want to love BIO and learn take her and you will come out with an A from her class. she explanes every single thing to you and makes sure that everybody got it. she made the class so fun and easy to understand.

She is a very nice, easy, and understanding teacher. She posts her lectures online and the book is NOT needed. Her accent is a little hard to understand but this class awesome! I like it alot.

LOVED HER! She's so nice and understands not everyone is a bio major. Tests are easy if you just read over the power points and she gives ton of extra credit but you have to be in class to know what those are. So go everyday. I suggest her to everyone! she's amazing!

Test questions come from her notes and videos she shows in class. She is funny, loves to tell interesting stories and is very laid back.

By far, my favorite teacher I've ever had. She had an awesome personality and it carried over into her lectures. Ms. Derakhshan wants you to do well, and loves when you ask questions. She wants you to fully understand everything. Her tests are straight from the powerpoints, but some questions require critical thinking. TAKE HER, SHE IS AWESOME.

Whoever said her class is hard were the ones who didn't study. Exams are word for word on the powerpoints, the final was only over 3 chapters! Alot of extra credit is given, but you must go to class to know what it is. Her accent is hard to understand, you you'll get used to it eventually. Very nice lady.. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!

I hated biology and have never understood it until now. This is the class for people like me. Professor Derakhshan is an amazing teacher and explains biology in a way anyone can understand. If you pay attention during her lectures and you don't miss more than 3 of her classes, I promise you will enjoy and easily pass her class.

I found her class to be great. Her tests are straight from her notes and she also gives study guides for each test. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities. I didn't find her tests to be difficult, I would just recommend studying about 2 to 3 nights in advance, and you will be fine. She is also so funny! Great professor!

AWESOME. Her class is very easy if you have taken some sort of biology class before. Gives so much extra credit and it's so easy. She also makes her lectures very entertaining. (1) one page paper, super easy. Tests are super easy as long as you study and take notes in class. She gives you a study guide. Definitely don't get the textbook. Easy A.

She is a very good professor, and she knows her stuff. She is very funny, and her lectures were mostly fun. There were a few lectures that felt like the dragged on, but what class doesn't have one of those? She is very responsive to emails, and her tests are pretty easy if you study and attend class.

She's awesome. She made me enjoy Biology, I learned, and she did it all with humor. If you can't understand an accent, you may find things a little difficult, but she always has a powerpoint for her students to follow along to.

Amazing professor! By far the best I have had so far. She is very passionate about biology, & always willing to help if you need clarity. seriously one of the easiest science classes i have taken. if you show up to class, and study you will get an A. you dont need the book, all of her powerpoints are online. she makes the lectures funny, and explains things to where if you dont know anything about biology, you will get it. i would take her again.

Amazing professor!!!! I am not a biology major so I was nervous about the course. She made the material fun, easy to learn, and interesting. Explains content very clearly, and always available for help. 3 exams, 2 group quizzes, short research paper, project, and final. Do the study guides posted online and study her PowerPoint slides.

This review is for those who want an easy teacher. This is who you want! You don't have to pay attention in class if you know even a bit about bio. All of her powerpoints are online, and so is the study guide. Look at the study guide to see what you need to review, compare it to the powerpoint and bam! Easy A. I watched Netflix in class lol

She made Biology so enjoyable and interesting! Attend class so you don't miss out on extra credit points! Also be sure to do her study guides--they will help you IMMENSELY on the tests. Tests aren't bad as long as you study. Final was easy--just study in advance. One of the best Bio teachers at UCO!

She's a great professor who loves what she does and it shows in her classes. All of the notes from her lectures are available online, but she also does extra activities in class to make learning Biology more fun and sometimes for extra credit. She makes learning Biology easy. I would definitely recommend taking her class if it's available.

Hard to understand sometimes because of her accent, so you have to pay attention. But, all her notes are posted online in case you miss a day and the study guides are posted online as well. The quizzes are take in groups, and not many out of class assignments. She's super sweet and accessible outside of class.

Take notes outside of class and listen to her lectures in class and add to them and you will do amazing. She does have an accent. Amazing teacher.

A very caring lady! One of my favorite teachers. She draws everything on her chalk board and goes over every slide carefully. If you have questions ask and if you go to class and take good notes from her slides then you got it. Tests are basically over the slides and even with her accent she is easy to understand. Highly recommend her!

She is a wonderful professor. The class is all lectures from her notes, which she gives you to print out and follow along. Very funny. Important to pay attention and participate, I would recommend sitting towards the front to hear her better. She gives tons of bonus points and helps students who put in effort. Great, interesting, and interactive lectures. She is super funny and is always trying to make class interesting. Lectures everyday but they aren't bad by any means. You use the textbook for an online test once. Test are not hard at all as long as you study and take notes. She will always email you back if you have any questions. Great class.

Her class may not be the most interesting, but she tries super hard to help you understand and LEARN the material. If you use her study guides and pay attention in class you will be guaranteed an good grade. There are 4 quizzes, two online and two team, 5 exams (including the final), two one-page papers, and in class work.

I would definitely recommend taking Derakhshan for bio. Probably not the easiest class ever, but not hard. I hate bio and she somehow made it fun- she just takes a little getting used to to read her personality. Study for the exams a little and you'll be good.

Took prof Derakhshan for general biology and loved every minute of it. Ive never been a fan of biology until this class. She breaks everything down into simple terms, always uses pictures, diagrams, etc. Shes hilarious. Plenty of options to help boost your grade. Show up, participate, and youll pass. HIGHLY recommend taking her!

Goes through power points extremely fast but oh well. Other than that this class is hard no matter who you take but she makes it enjoyable even at 9 am.

I never studied much and made a 96. We did in work class that she would give you the answers too, that helped you study. Everyday she goes thru her notes that she even posts on D2L. She always takes attendance and gives random bonus points towards tests and even the final. Her final was only 3 chapters. I put little effort and would def reccommend

She made Biology so much more comprehensive. She uses a lot of different teaching styles. She writes on the board and uses slides, also uses videos. There are a lot of class pop quizzes.

she is a very good professor, you can actually learn lof in her lecture. it is very interesting and always make a drawing to illustrate it even clearer. she would probably play tough at the beginning of the semester, but sooner or later you will find out she is a kind and nice professor who really wants to help student instead of turning them down.

Professor Derakhshan is truly an amazing professor. She starts out acting tough but really lightens up throughout the semester. Very lecture based class and would do some good to take notes. Additional note: this professor is very good for those interested in nursing or anything medical related as she will discuss medical things and diseases. She is very funny and open. Barely any homework, but you need to show up.

She really cares about her students. This class would be harder but with all the extra credit you can do, she makes it easy to get an A or a B. This class is very lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory, but all it takes is solid notes and reviewing them and the tests will be possible. The textbook is unnecessary and nothing in the book comes up on the test. Take notes, show up to class, and study and you can get an A.

Attendance isnt mandatory but go to class because you will miss a majority of what you need to study for exams during lectures. She is understanding. She wants to help you if youre struggling.

Top notch professor, and great person overall. She provides clear grading criteria and extra credit. Attendance was not mandatory, but if you want an A I would highly advise showing up. She does a group quiz before every exam and the exams were based off of the powerpoint slides and class handouts. She is hilarious too and will challenge students.

Literally the BEST prof! You wont pass if you dont show up to class but her lectures are not boring and she is very funny. Participate in class and talk to her. Professor Derakhshan was an amazing instructor. adapting to a Covid learning experience was difficult but she made it relatively easy. she makes the tests and quizzes straight off the lectures so pay attention and take notes.

Professor Derakshan can be curt but he's truly kind and wants the best for all the students. He has this "surprise" at the end of the semester that basically bumps everyone up almost a full grade. Ask good questions and participate and he'll remember you. PLEASE read each chapter TWICE. This is not the class to mess around in.

Professor Derakhshan has a little bit of an accent which made it a little difficult to understand what she is saying in the beginning but eventually got used to it. lectures are not difficult to listen to its just a powerpoint and you write down notes. her accent is a little heavy but after a few classes, youll understand and be fine ( be super attentive so you really pick up on the words she says!). shes honestly like a second mom cus she does have her mom moments: "get lots of fiber and take care of urself"

prof is very nice and tries to keep you involved in the lecture. she does have an accent but you get used to it very quickly and I didn't have any problems with communication. if you look at the notes she posts on D2L or your handwritten ones you are going to pass the exams. one of my easiest classes this semester and you can tell she cares.

There was absolutely no homework. We did about one quiz and test per unit, also one research paper. That's about all your graded on. Attendance is mandatory. Just take good notes, listen to lectures and you will succeed. Mrs. Derakhshan was a very kind. She always told us how much she cared about us and wanted us to earn our degrees.

Loved Prof Derakhshan! She's a little hard to understand at first bc of her accent but you get used to it after a few weeks. Her class is VERY note heavy and she has four exams plus a final as well as some quizzes and one very short research paper. Her exams are fairly easy as long as you do the exam reviews and take good notes.

She always had her lectures well prepared and had very useful notes that went with the tests given. She also drew out visuals for the class each day. If you take notes and study them you will be set.

If you have the chance to take one of her classes, DO IT! She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. As someone with ADHD, her lectures were always extremely engaging and memorable. Also, there's very little homework. If you take notes and show up to class, you'll have a great/easy time. She is an amazing person and professor.

Don't know what all these people are talking about, her class is very easy, coming from someone who doesn't know a lot about biology, her quizzes are very easy and are taken online at home and her tests are based off her slides/study guide she hands out. Her tests are 50 questions and I get either high b's or an A.

She was amazing! Participation is a huge part of your grade, but when I had an emergency and had to miss multiple days, she was super accommodating and just cared that I was okay. She's always very accessible by email, responding almost immediately even at midnight. She doesn't have regular homework, just four exams and a short research paper.

Amazing professor!! She makes bio very interesting. Not much homework, mostly lectures and tests. She does elaborate drawings that are super helpful. If you go to class and pay attention the lowest you could really get is a B. She's understanding if something happens that keeps you from class, just email her about it before if you can.

Professor Derakhshan makes biology engaging with her interactive lectures and visuals. Taking notes and using study tools like Unstuck study can help you succeed. Attend class, and you're on your way to a great grade.

She's not a fan of being late to class but is otherwise a nice and thoughtful person and good teacher. Decent amount of bonus. Lectures can be boring but are easy to understand (was on my phone for most lectures). Three tests and a final, all 50 multiple choice questions I finished in 20 minutes. One paper that I did in a night and got an A.

She was a great teacher, Just be engaged, take notes, and do ALL quizzes and extra credits and you will get an A. Tests can be slightly challenging but she is super funny and one of the best teachers I have had at UCO.

I always looked forward to her Biology class, which is great as someone who has never enjoyed science classes! Her lectures are very informative, just make sure you pay attention and take notes! And definitely be sure that you do the quizzes/projects, she won't take them for credit if you don't turn it in before the due date.
