TAKE HER!!! She knows just how to teach and make it easy for students to learn since she has been doing it for some time now. Very clear in lectures. She is also very understanding but don't take it for granted. The tests are easy as long as you truly understand how to solve the problems. extra credit is given. JUST GREAT!
Professor Shad is the most amazing math teacher at Preston Ridge Campus! She is always so pleasant and helps her students to understand the lesson with so much clarity! I never had a math teacher like her and I would gladly take her class because she is so awesome!
Prof. Shad is by far the best prof I have ever had. She is patient and willing to answer all questions. She clearly loves what she does and understanding when special circumstances arise. Their were 5 labs one before each of the 4 tests and then the fifth being the final was cumulative. HW due weekly. She reopens HW at the end so you can improve it
I believe Prof Shad has good intentions but she has a very convoluted way of teaching something simple. By the time I was out of the class I was confused on what I came into the class understanding. She gets offended easily and if something isn't done her way its automatically wrong.
Main advice with any math class- keep up with the work, take clear notes, and practice often! She will explain the material thoroughly and clearly, and wants you to ask questions. She doesn't make you feel dumb and is very kind. Her tests are only tough if you don't come to class, honestly.
Knows the subject thoroughly. Gave notes that will be used in preceding classes. Explains each topic clearly. Shows you what you need to know in order to equate each question. If you do not exceed in this class, you only have yourself to blame. Knows how to engage the student to remeber what previous classes gave you.
Mrs. Shad was my professor for Trig & Pre-calc. Professor Shad is an amazing teacher who really wants to every one of her students to succeed. She provides her own notes for each class and uses easy to understand techniques to solve problems. She always promptly replied to all my emails and questions. Very passionate about what she does.
Good professor, motivating loving caring ,easy lectures and easy grader
I took Trig in summer though it was difficult new concept and short time but professor Shad made it easy and enjoyable. In fall 2016 i took Pre-Calculus her lecture notes are amazing, she keeps track interest of every student and help them individually to succeed.I wish if she teaches Calculus 1.I highly recommend her.
350 Characters is not enough to express how amazing professor Shad is. I've never had a professor so dedicated to her work and her students. I have taken her for Algebra, Trigonometry, and Precal, and I can honestly say that no other professor on this whole website is even half as devoted as professor Shad. She's kind, organized, and accessible.
Prof. Shad was absolutely amazing. Honestly, I don't think there is a better math teacher out there. The class is definitely a challenge and this is not a class you will just pass with no effort or attendance. I think Prof. Shad can teach anyone math if they are willing to put in their own time and work on the HomeWork. Exams are tough, but doable!
Professor Shad rock! Yes its some what of a hard class but Shad has unique quality about her that is not found in a lot of college professors these days. She truly cares and works very hard to see that every student passes her class. Halfway though the semester I though I was going to end up with a C for my final grade but ended up making A.
Professor Shad, I will forever be grateful to you for showing me that maths is accessible to anyone who works hard, even if their prior education was lacking. You are even more amazing than the moon, thank you for your time and wisdom. DO: REVIEWS, HOMEWORK, COME TO CLASS, TAKE TRIG/ALGEBRA IN ADVANCE. PS: Physics majors, memorize trig identities.
I'm noticing her lectures are just a fraction of what we should know. I see her sidetrack often and erase the way she works out problems on the board just as quick. I've already taken Trig before and passed but I wanted to retake it, I feel left behind constantly. The way she teaches I might as well take it online, I'd get more feedback at least.
Let me just say that for anyone that leaves a negative comment for Prof Shad obviously did not put in 100% effort. Prof Shad is unique from other professors in that she provides class notes for all her students, this is something that she is not REQUIRED to do but does it anyways because she truly cares. She is an AWESOME math professor! TAKE HER!
Professor Shad is honestly the best professor I have ever had. She works just as hard as her students do and she cares so much about their success. She is fun, hilarious, and very passionate about math. Helpful reviews, extra credit opportunities, do yourself a favor and enroll in her class. She is the best!
Her lecture notes allow you to follow along as she works the problems on the board. Exam reviews illustrate what types of problems you'll see on the tests, answer keys included. Her exams have a non-calculator part and a calculator part in which you must show work. Both are derived from the lecture notes. Ask for help, and she will happily oblige.
I HATE MATH, but professor shad has helped me to really enjoy it. She is always available should you need further explanation. She is very wise, and has a true passion for teaching. Tests are not hard, as long as you try. She gives partial credit for showing your work, even if the answer is wrong. Gives extra credit and test reviews with answers.
Professor Shad is an amazing professor that not only shows interest in her subject, but also in her students. She will provide you with all the tools to succeed. If you work hard, listen carefully, and do everything she asks, this class will be the best class you will have taken. Definitely taking her next semester.
I really did like this Prof, in my opinion the best person who teaches math in Texas not only in the campus. She brings her own flavor to teaching. She is very passionate about math that when I said I wasted time doing some problems that were few on the test she said "Doing math is never a waste of time." Want a good grade and learn take her.
Professor Shad comes across very caring and inspirational, tells a great story of overcoming. However, she gets a little snippy when you ask her a question. She loves Calculus but not Math 1324 too much, buy the book and she doesn't even follow it. All labs/homework are her own problems. no help nor review before test, it's all a surprise !
Professor Shad is an amazing professor, I would definitely recommend her! She is the right balance of pushing you to work hard and being an excellent and kind teacher. If you are willing to work hard, professor Shad will work even harder to help you.
She is honestly one of the best teachers I have had. Even though Calculus is a tough subject, she keeps the lectures light and engaging. She also cares about every single one of her students. Her grading criteria is crystal clear. If you follow what she says, listen in lectures, participate in labs and print the notes she gives, you'll do well.
Professor Shad is incredible and so passionate about every subject of math that she teaches. Calculus is very difficult but she makes herself available to students outside of class and is willing to help you. Take notes, do the test reviews labs and homework! She provides you with everything you need to make an A as long as you put the effort in
Professor Shad was the most honest, caring, and amazing professor. She provides outstanding lecture notes and reviews for the tests. I will be honest and say that calculus is a hard class but if you put in the work you would be able to pass the class. She makes you work for the grade. I promise you take her for Calculus you wont regret it.
Professor Shad is very nice and organizes the notes very clearly. Calculus is a difficult concept, so her class is not "an easy A" however she gives you all the tools you need to be successful in her class. I hope that you are willing to put forth the effort when you sign up for her class because she deserves nothing but the best.
Before this class, I never thought passing a math class was possible. Professor Shad really changed my outlook on math and I am so grateful to her! I completed the express 7-week course with her, and although it was challenging, complete your HW & Labs, attend the lecture and you will do great on your exams. Meet her 50/50 and you will pass!
Best math Professor ever had at Collin! I took Professor Shad for Cal 2 and was worth it taking her. As long as you practice labs, lecture notes, and do homework; you will do good in exams and will receive an A. She explains every detail thoroughly and makes sure every student understands it. I wish I could have taken her before:/
Best math prof Ive ever encountered. Professor Shad had taken me from a dark place in math, into the light. I am now confident in math because she helped me to understand it. She it caring, funny, and intelligent. She doesnt only want you to learn, she wants you to succeed too. She doesnt want to trick you. Youll regret not having her!
If youre not good with math, take professor Shahina Shad. She will give you the strongest foundation you could get from a math professor. She can give you the best of her notes and lecture, but it is up to you to meet her halfway to earn your desired grades. She is a clear and transparent teacher; there will be no surprised when it comes to tests.
Professor Shad is an wonderful educator with an obvious passion for the subject she teaches. Lectures are concise and informative, with the occasional entertaining story mixed in for a boost to learning and enjoyment. As a teacher, she is very generous and knowledgeable. Students should be prepared to work in her class, but it is well worth it.
An absolute Gem, this class requires you to put in the time and effort, but with hard work anything is possible.
I really appreciated having a professor who I knew believed in me and what she was teaching me in class. You made a huge impact on my learning. I had never seen math correctly until you showed me how to see it. I only took geometry in High school, never Algebra. I appreciate the time you spent reexplaining things to me and helping me learn.
Prof. Shad is hands down the most amazing professor I've had to this day. You can really tell she cares deeply about all things mathematics and will strive to help you pass. Ask questions, utilize the MathLab, and take advantage of her office hours. This class is not necessarily hard however you do need to study a bit to get an A. Thank you Shad!!
I walked into Professor Shads class not knowing what to expect, as I had not done any math since high school, which was nine years ago. She really knows how to make Statistics easy to understand! She takes the time to answer any questions both inside and outside of class. As long as you are willing to learn and put in the work, you will pass!
Prof. Shad comes down to the level of students and makes the concepts easy to understand and enjoyable to learn. She isn't compromising, but sure is caring! Prepare to work well, be consistent in attendance/participation and you're a winner in her class. She'll let you know your progress and what's needed to succeed. A true gem of a Math Professor!
Professor shad will make you work for your grade. She over-lectures past class time due to her constant conversations about her life. Always used the excuse on how busy she was with other classes to explain why grades were not in yet. If you are willing to spend LOTS of time working for an A, then take her class. Be prepared for the class favorites
The world needs more professors like Shahina Shad. I cannot say enough amazing things about this woman! I am grateful I had the privilege of being in her class. I was scared of math before, but now I cant get enough of it! I know who I will be taking for any future math classes I may need for my degree! Take her, you wont regret it!
Professor Shad was one of the best math teachers I have had. You def need to put in some effort but she goes the extra mile to help. She always helps and stays in contact if you need her.
Prof Shad was great teacher since day 1. During the Covid days she ensured we received even greater uncompromised, uninterrupted support, recording and posting her zoom sessions with us as well as Prof Ewing's lectures. She reopened homeworks past their due dates and did not penalize late lab submissions. Excellent instructor with a heart of gold!
For the love of God take Mrs. Shad!!
One of my favorite professors. Made it very easy to learn during this online COVID semester and constantly communicated with the class. There is a lot of homework and labs. Its easy to fall behind because the material gets harder but she posts extra practice questions and helps a ton during office hours so its not hard to work for an A
The easiest way to past Stats is to take her! The class is hard regardless but she offers extra credit and reviews. Her notes are exactly like the quiz/test so go to class! Missing one class puts you very behind but her notes will help you pass and she cares if you are struggling. Speak with her if you need help! She cares about her students.
I was very stressed out when I took this class with Professor Shad. However, she made the class manageable and I did amazing in this course. She usually has weekly office hours. It is not mandatory, but make sure to attend them and ask questions! She offers extra credit, no Honorlock, drops 3 HW, and 2 Labs at the end.
Where do I start?? My whole life I hated math, until Professor Shad's algebra class! Now I LOVE math! She cares and explains in such an incredible way. I feel like I'm understanding the wonders of mathematics for the first time in my life! This is THE BEST Math professor out there! Top choice, hands down!
Professor Shad, is literally a dream come true. She will ALWAYS respond to emails, AlWAYS assist you in class, and offers as much extra credit as she can. I had her in-person, and I am so glad that I did. She will make sure EVERY. SINGLE. STUDENT. understands what she is teaching, I took her statistics class. 500/10 would definitely recommend.
Shes an amazing woman! She really loves her job and cares so much about her students. The thing is though is that she talks SO fast that its hard to keep up sometimes. I also am really bad at algebra so I did struggle a lot, but thats not her fault, shes just doing her job! Shes great but too fast pace for me.
She's great! she cares so much about her students are wants them to succeed, and provides us with lots of study material/notes. The class overall is pretty easy but very time-consuming because the hw/labs sometimes have you insert +20 data results and if a signal 1 is off you will have to try again.
Dr. Shad is the most incredible professor I have ever met. She really cares for her students and has always encouraged them to do well. If you want to MAKE AN EASY A, take her class. I am a student who took this course with no aspirations. She teaches well and prepares notes for us. Do your work and I guarantee you can make an A.
This was the second time I took this class, but the first time it made sense. Professor Shad is so passionate about math, I have never seen a professor like her. She made the material easy to understand, and was always available to explain the material further after class. Make sure to not do the HW all at once though, or it can get overwhelming.
Prof. Shad is very caring and understands that students comes from different background and they have other responsibilities apart from being a student. I was enrolled in online class, Prof. Shad took her time on Friday to conduct 2 hours of zoom meeting and explained the fundamentals of each chapter. Gave detailed notes.
I took college algebra (hybrid- lectures in person, HW and tests are online) during summer 1 and as someone who is horrible at math, it really wasn't bad at all. She is such an amazing professor and you can tell she really wants to see her students succeed. Don't hesitate to have professor Shad as your math professor! She is always eager to help :)
Amazing professor. She really cares about her students and will put forth the effort to make everyone pass. She comes prepared to discuss topics and will even print out notes for you so you are not wasting time writing notes while trying to focus at the same time. Tests are easy IF you prepare for them properly and pay attention to her in class.
Professor Shad is one of the best and most dedicated math professors I've ever had at any level of schooling. She is so nice and caring and really understands how math works. She makes sure that everyone understands the concepts and tries not to leave any students behind. Do your homework and labs correctly, if you don't the tests will be hard.
Professor Shad is a fantastic math professor! She is thorough and makes sure everyone understands the material, and she is caring and understands her students. She gives you practically a month to do the homework, but it's better to do it as you learn the material. Definitely recommend her!
Best Professor I've ever had for any class EVER. Came into the class hating math and struggling, came out enjoying it and having confidence in my math solving skills. Professor Shad is very caring and does as much as she humanely can for her students. Don't skip lectures, don't be afraid to ask questions and let her know if you're ever struggling.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. It clear that she care about her students and wants us to do well in her class. Provides us with all the notes needed and during the lesson she explain the problems and targets the areas in which a student could get confused on which if you're not good at math you will appreciate. I recommend taking her
I loved Professor Shad! Algebra is a hard subject but she made the class fun and always had a smile. It was clear from the start she really cares about her students. Find yourself a study group, do the homework right after class, and you will be set. She is super passionate about math and you can't help but admire her. She has the best stories!
Best Math Professor I have ever had. She is so organized and gives notes for you to print out. She helps you highlight in the notes what will be on the test and does excellent reviews for the tests. She motivated me to work harder and I ended up with a high B. She made Calculus digestible. I will wait to take her for Calculus 2 and even3ifpossible
Professor Shad is an amazing professor! I struggle with math but she makes it seem like common sense. I had her for statistics and I never worried about failing the course. There is a lot of homework but it helps you for the tests, and even completing the homework after the due dates you can still earn 90%. She tries to connect with her students
She was a very kind and sweet professor! I had her for the 5 week summer online class, and she was very understanding of computer glitches. At the beginning of the course we were having issues with the website and she extended the due dates which was very kind. She is good about giving bonus points and allows late grades for up to a 90!
Such a great professor, she helped me understand algebra better. She's super passionate about math and will make sure you understand anything you struggle,100% recommend especially if you struggle with math because trust me you won't have a professor as passionate about math as Professor Shad.
Professor Shad explains math really well and genuinely cares about her students. She provides filled in notes that you can print out which make lectures super easy to listen to and follow along. Definitely take one of her classes if you can!
I was so nervous before the class started, as I last studied math 16 years ago and with 2 kids, I didn't know if I would be able to adjust to the classroom again and balance family & school. However, she made math fun and the experience she shared with us gave me a lot of strength & confidence to conquer this challenging journey. Highly recommend!!
Professor provides notes for every class that you can follow along with. Attendance is mandatory, and there is a fast pace. Make sure you print out the notes before class and come to class and you will do fine!
AMAZING professor. Never thought i could enjoy math but she explained everything so well and on a true beginner level and answered questions no matter how simple or obvious it was. Super organized class, all you have to do is print her notes, show up in class and do your homework. LOVE her teaching style! highly recommended!!!!!
For exceptional math instruction, choose Prof. Shahina Shad. She builds strong foundations, offers comprehensive notes and lectures, and ensures fair assessments without surprises. It's up to you to meet her halfway and earn your desired grades.
I think God sat down and took his time to create Professor Shad, she is sweet and really cares about her students. she gives 3 points of extra credit per test and that always seems to come in clutch. her tests are similar to the review packet she gives out so be sure to study those. She is a very diligent professor and inspiring human!
Amazing professor! Actually understood math in a long time! Pros: -Always available to help -Easy to understand lesson -Great grader (+extra credit opportunities) Con: -honorlock -subject is still math lol -wish she also dropped a test grade (she does other grades tho)
Professor Shad is amazing!! She helped me finally understand math. She is a such a sweet, human being who deeply cares about her students. She goes above and beyond to care for her students, to make sure she is teaching all the required materials, and she has easy opportunities to get your grade up. 10/10 recommend her to anyone!!
Professor Shad is a prophet of math, a severely encouraging professor. She makes hand-made notes for each chapter/test reviews that walk you through exactly what you need to know, extended office hours, and explained difficult hw q's to the whole class/online. I've failed two math courses before, wish I would have met her sooner. TAKE HER CLASS!
All the reviews about Professor Shad are true, she truly is an amazing teacher. She helped me actually understand math instead of just memorizing. Show up to all her lectures, and do all the homework and you will do great in the class. The professor is fantastic but please put effort into the class it will be a rewarding experience if you do.
I took the course in the summer, and Professor Shad was, by far, the best calculus professor I've ever had. She provides specially prepared notes to every student, and even though I took her only for a short time when you get to know her story, she's genuinely inspiring. Pick her if you can. It's one of the most well-run classes at Collin College.
Prof. Shad is hands down one of my favorite professor! Before her class math was a scary subject to me but since taking her class I feel so much more confident. She really really cares about her students and goes above and beyond when teaching. I took Math 1314 last semester and the professor didn't do half the work and notes Prof Shad does.
Professor Shad is a very caring teacher. I took an online course, she gives a bunch of HW per week. It took me hours on 2 maybe 3 days to complete them when all my other classes took less than an hour. Not only that but you will have to teach yourself. She does provide a couple short videos every once but they don't help often. I hope this helps.
I would NOT recommend her online class. I am a 4.0 student with a great work ethic, so working hard was never the issue. The issue was that I had to teach myself statistics. Not even one lecture made by her was uploaded. You have to read the statistics textbook and depend on YouTube. I recommend taking Professor Thapa Magar.
Really good summer professor for calculus. For a person who didnt take college algebra or pre calculus she made calculus seem really easy. She explained everything well and if you do the homework and quizzes youll understand basically everything. Especially if you do her extra credit works
I've taken Algebra, Calculus I, and Calculus II with Professor Shad, and I trust her with math like no one else. She teaches at a university level, if not beyond. However, to achieve your desired grade, you need to put in the effort as well. Missing class isn't great since she provides many hints during her lectures about test content.
Her lectures are AMAZING for beginners but a bit slow if you have a background in math or physics. There were 4 tests throughout the semester which was a bit annoying and lots of homework in between. She gave a few extra credit assignments for each test in class each giving one point on the test. Attendance only required for extra credit.
Prof Shad is an amazing instructor, she cares for all students and shares her own experiences with us to motivate us in class. But, her teaching style is not for everyone. Unless you're already an advanced math student it will be difficult to keep up. However, she is super caring and will always make sure you're doing okay, especially when needed.
Professor shad is the goat, I recommend taking calculus with professor shad to anyone. amazing, caring, funny, and inspirational.
TAKE PROFESSOR SHAD! FOR ANY AND EVERY MATH CLASS! Calc is NOT an easy class, but Prof. Shad is able to convey the information in a way that makes it feel so simple and unintimidating. She provides notes, which are incredibly useful for keeping up in class. She really cares about her students and their success. She's funny and keeps class engaging.
Work full-time? Any other heavy courses? This course will take HOURS EACH DAY, more hours in the math lab, all on top of class time(~6hrs/week). An inspirational person, however, her teaching style is quite hasty. She faced challenges herself and expects students to push through similar ones. On a positive note, extra credit gets +3 for exams.
As a person who struggles with math, Professor Shad definitely made it so much easier. I had her for dual credit and she is such a caring person. Though the course itself is very lecture heavy, I would definitly take advantage of the extensive hand written notes she provides, that helps sm for the final exam. Overall, the BEST math prof at Collin!
Very caring and intelligent professor.
Disrispectful attitude
Professor Shad is one of the best professors I have ever had, she is so caring and you can tell she genuinely cares for her students and has a passion for what she teaches. I plan to take her for Calc 1 in the fall because she was such an amazing professor, I would absolutely choose her for any math course!
Best math teacher I've ever had! She made me actually want to learn math. I took this hybrid which wasn't my favorite, but I was able to go from failing to getting the best math grades in my life. SO kind and helpful!!! 10000% recommend.
Professor Shad is an amazing teacher. Her class is well-structured and she genuinely cares about her students. There are a lot of assignments throughout the semester, but you have more than a few days to complete them. Before every test, Professor Shad posts unit reviews that help SO much. Take her if you can!
Don't take it unless you're an amazing self though person or already have a great knowledge of algebra. A lot of homework but the homework is different from the test so what's the point. Very little time for hard exams.
She's the best professor I've ever had for math. She teaches very thoroughly. You also have to do your part as a student, staying on top of homework and reading notes. I did hybrid, and it's a lot of self-discipline but in general loved her class. She is funny and cares deeply about her students. Show up ready to learn and you will be great!
Professor Shad is AMAZING!! I wish I could have her as a professor for all of my classes. She makes class so enjoyable and is such an inspirational woman. Not only that, but her passion for math made me enjoy Calculus and her teaching style was very effective at helping me have a deep understand of the concepts of calculus to set me up for success
is a caring teacher who really helps you understand the material. She provides notes, breaks things down clearly, and even reteaches algebra so you can write math professionally. There's a lot of homework, but if you put in the work, it's an easy A+. I wish she taught every math class!
She gave clear, organized notes and made math fun to learn. Her passion was inspiring, and her lessons were always engaging. The review before the tests was really helpful. She explained things clearly and was easy to talk to for additional help. With 16+ years of experience, she truly cared. I'd take her class again!
The best professor I've had. She explains why the math works, not just how, which helped me actually understand concepts instead of relying on a calculator. She uses brain science to make learning stick and puts real thought into her teaching. Her notes are super clear, and broken down to a science. The rest is up to you to truly study to pass!
She makes lecture notes, different teaching styles, overall cares for her students. students do need to do their part though. She tells us funny stories during lectures as a brain break. She's really funny, I personally like her math puns, like how the limit of a function is a trend and we related it to how oranges became a trend in the class.
98.81% (in-person Mon-Thurs 8am-12pm 5 weeks) The professor was amazing, and her notes are even better (simplified). The one thing she said that made me look at math differently is "how are you going to be scared of math, it's just numbers on paper". She is super sweet and has many stories to share about math & herself. Just do labs & extra credit.
Prof Shad was the best math teacher I have ever had. She makes sure you understand why you're doing what you're doing, which helps you understand math better. Be sure to ask questions when you need help because she is more than willing to help you understand! She only wants the best for her students and ultimately cares about everyone's success! :)
Prof Shad is a great math teacher who makes math simple. She helped us understand the 'why' behind each math problem; we didn't just mindlessly solve equations. My biggest lesson from her class is to never give up, master the concept, and success will follow. Prof Shad doesn't just teach how to pass in math; she also teaches how to pass in life.
Professor Shad taught me dual credit college algebra and was an amazing professor to have as my introduction into college classes. She is beyond caring about her students and will go over a topic as many times as needed as long as we can finish the packet in time. She reviews for her students and will send an email at two in the morning if needed.
By far the best math instructor I have ever had. Professor Shad is truly passionate about mathematics, and her enthusiasm shows. Her excitement about mathematics is contagious; especially when mentioning the names of mathematicians and the helpful formulas they have invented. I was able to not only learn Calculus, but also understand it!
Calculus was intimidating, but Prof. Shad made it click. She teaches step-by-step, uses plenty of examples, and is super patient with questions. Her reviews and practice problems really prepare you for exams. Highly recommend.
Mrs. Shad is very knowledgeable in mathematics and spends her time making the note packets each week for the students and there's lots of graphs and equations that are color coded to help us understand better. If the homeworks have too many problems, she sometimes reduces it to make it easier and the tests are super easy. I had a great experience.
She is very-light hearted, she does a good job explaining things, and if you do look at the review sheets that SHE makes, you'll do a good job on the tests. (She doesn't drop them, but she makes them really easy on purpose)
I felt like the test reviews only kinda prepared you for the test.
