Excellent you can learn so much from her. If everyone took her class the world would be a better place. The reading and assignments are very intertresting and therefore easy. You'll love her, she'll change your life!!!
She may be intimidating to some, but I thought she was soo funny. She doesn't like it when her room isn't put together properly when she arrives! She is a great professor and you won't regret taking her.
I could not understand what she lectured about because she was not clear. She moved around the boared to much, and her min. paper requirement for a 30 min. video class lecture was insane. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
If your under 20 don't take her. She wants to lock anyone under 20 in the closet! She definately makes use of class time. She never shuts up!
The class is very hard and challenging but it is well worth it for the knowledge you gain. If you are looking for an easy grade, don't take it but if you actually want to learn something and improve your life, then by all means TAKE IT!
She was soo funny, made material interesting to learn. Very informed on all world issues. Language on tests not consistent with her lecture. Very concerned for her students and helpful too. Watch those tests, trick questions, be on toes.
Hard to understand and way too animated. She flips out in class for stupid stuff. Needs to control her temper. Suggest you don't take her.
she is absolutely nuts. flies off on rants at the drop of an eye, although some are quite fascinating to say the least (rare). Shes a little too right wing for me, but she does know her stuff. her tests don't follow the lecture material though!!!

LISTENING to her lectures and skimming the text's chapters before exams got me an easy A. Class was really interesting - definitely recommend this instructor.
I enjoyed her class thre were only two exams in the class, so listening to lectures is very important. She's an extremely interesting teacher
Want students to succeed. Whoever said she was right wing doesn't know their wings. I'm right, she is most definetely not. But she votes independent...if that helps. Anyway, politics don't matter 100%. She does have a socialistic agenda, expect that! She's a soc prof!! Nice if you're respectful.
She was an awsome teacher! I learned so much from her. I really think that she is the one of the best teachers at ARC.
This professor if one of a kind. I wish that she could tech all my classes. She extremely organized. She really cares that all the students "get" what she is lecturing about. I appreciate that more than she knows!
She has this hand condition so she doesnt give homework, she gavemaybe one paper to do. Her test are confusing and too wordy sometimes the sentences dont make sense. She is a very Woman's rights type person. you better take good notes cuz she wont let you record her. Guys wear pink!!! you'll see Y
Easy teacher with easy tests. If you skim the book, and take good notes during lectures, you will earn an A. The tests are worded a little funny but you can ask her for help as to what she is asking. I did. Definitely NOT right winged... She says she is not a liberal but a Radical. Def. Recommende
She talks too fast, her penmanship is very poor, she doesn't like to hear anyone talk except herself. She is condescending when speaking to students. She has a way of belittling people and making excuses for it in her explanation. It's one thing to voice your political views and another to berate people for theirs, even indirectly.
This brillant woman is an asset to ARC. She brings perspective, integrity, and a refreshing attitude to her lectures. Thinks outside the box and encourages students to do the same. Critical thinking a must as well as good lecture notes. Challenges your mind. Availailable for office discussions if you don't understand a concept during class.
She is nice for the most part. Her whole class is based on lecture. Half of her lectures are rants on our government and how their sooo corrupt etc, etc, etc. Tests are fair though and your views on our society will change after you take this class. I semi-recommend
Give her some credit, she tries very hard to get her edcational mission across. Sociology is a very intense subject with broad perspectives! You have to stay up on your society around you! She knows what she's doing!!
Funny, nice, and has a big butt which makes lectures very interesting = )-
:) I love when she clowned on students... that was fun or told stories about growing up in Afghanistan... haha, very cool teacher - OH, and you also learn some stuff too... :)
very cute, very sweet, very easy. Her perspective is interesting......

Very interesting class, pretty easy as long as you read and take good notes. Four majors papers during the class, so far they've been easy to write. Very nice, gives us candy! I disagree with whoever said she belittles people, the teacher I know is very kind and approachable. She can go on tirades when she lectures, but it adds to the class. She obviously enjoys what she teaches, is quite fiery. I will agree her penmanship when writing on the board is a little poor, I believe she had surgery. Good prof!
It is basically a class in her thoughts on socialism. No matter what the discussion it all ties back to the fact that socialism is a good idea and white males are ruining the world. She just throws A's at her class so at least its easy.
Great teacher I've met by far with introducing material & helping people understand the material. I find her teaching to be very insightful and interesting. Writing the 4 essays in her class has helped my writing tremendously with how I now write papers. I definitely recommend her to any student wanting to get a GE class or a knowledge of sociology
A little too opinionated on her political views, but overall she's a wonderful lecturer. Very entertaining and the only thing you're graded on is 4 midterms. Great class, I loved it!
Shala is a great professor who is extremely intelligent and fills lectures w/ facts that you would probably not be able to get in the average newspaper. Grade based on 4 midterms(60 ?s & she counts only 50) and an optional paper for extra credit. Very nice if you're respectful! She makes lectures very interesting. I HIGHLY reccommend her for Soc.
Her class is boring but easy. Four tests of equal weight. All the tests are worth 50 points but she gives you 60 questions so anything over 50 is extra credit. No homework and there is one paper but it is optional and its exxtra credit.
Shahla is the best! Her class is very straightforward, tests are not very hard and each have bonus questions, plus the bonus paper that u should definitely do. I got an A but studied well for the tests and did the paper. Class would be better if there was more discussion, she isn't great with questions, but she has great perspective.
The teacher is very knowledgeable on the subject. You will learn alot and if the class doesn't spark a fire to get involved in your society..nothing will. She has strong ideas and voices them. If you take good lecture notes and pay attention you will get a good grade.
ehh, i hated this class and i still hate it, but sociology doesnt interest me. alright teacher, take good notes, study it, understand it. read book and understand it. tests can be a bit tricky but some questions were repeated so that was nice. 4 tests, 50 pt each, thats all. 15 pt extra credit paper which helps grade a lot. overall decent teacher.
Nice enough lady, but has clear favorites and non-favorites in her class. Test questions can be worded tricky. Be sure to read text, lot of test questions aren't covered in lecture. Extra credit available on each test and an extra credit essay is available too.
Mrs. Moktarzada is a blast. You can tell she loves to teach. She really gets in your head and makes you think. She really knows how to get the entire class involved. She is fair in grading and provides notes that are helpful for papers. She is a strict on attendance so show up to class.
This teacher deserves respect. Very interesting class, and I definetly learned some life lessons. Papers are easy A's if you stick to the format and address the topic and hand in on time. Tests have tricky wording. I read text and went to all lec.s, took great notes, and averaged a B-/C+ on tests. I noticed students who didn't even attend get same.
she is not organized and very disrepectful. her spelling is probably terrible because she can write only half a word on the board. i don't recommend her. she has grammar mistakes in her tests.
She's alright- sometimes funny..i dont mind taking her again...
She is great! i wouldnt mind taking her again. her essays are easy and during class her lectures keep you interested...you wont want to leave.
this teacher just pretty much spews her socialist views in class. she did not have one good thing to say about conservatives the whole semester. teachers should present both sides of the debate and let you choose; she is knowledgable but pretty much just rants and raves for an hour and 15 minutes. posseses qualities similar to j-lo! thats a plus!
I wouldnt recommend this teacher unless you are PASSIONATE about sociology. If u are just trying to get the class out of the way, probably take someone else. Her wording on tests is very tricky and confusing!I had to read each question ATLEAST twice, and Im an A average student! Provides no copies of notes, just writes on board which is pretty sloppy
Great teacher that loves what she teaches. She is very liberal and loves speaking her mind. Tests are easy and the extra credit essay makes getting an A easy.
Sometimes it is a little difficult to follow where she is going, but over all is she is a very good teacher. She is passionat about her beliefs and this subjust. Her test are not the easiest, but if you attend all classes and study you will get a good grade. You get have you give rings true about this class.
one of the worst professors of my 4 semesters in college! a liberal and a radical feminist who spends her lectures criticizing conservatives. lectures are not interesting because half the time she spent talking about politics. grades essays unfairly.
One of the best Sociology teachers I have ever had! She can be hard to follow sometimes but if you take the time to ask her questions after class she is very helpful! So quit whining! Her exams can be tricky but I had no problem getting an A and I didn't even have to open the book. She is very passionate about the subject and loves her students!
She is a really smart, nice, helpful teacher! She rocks because she tells you like it is without sugar coating it. She is such a cutie!
Very informative. Teacher really makes you think. Fun class, easy tests.
If you had no idea of what impact history had in where the world currently is after this class you will have a HUGE awareness of such repercutions. This teacher is a real teacher, she is not just doing her job as a teacher, but she is there to make a difference. At the end of the course all I can say is that I admire her and she changed my life.
The ultimate humanist, I took three sociology classes that she taught. Simply an amazing and inspiring human being, one of the best professors that I will ever have. This is not about getting a grade, this is life. Dr. Mohktarzada will guide you and challenge you in this course so be prepared to think critically. Wow, what an impact she has made!!!
Awesome class!!! Now this is a professor!
Teacher is a blast..very passionate...mad e me think outside my little box...asks a lot of questions to students to get them involved...Good class...study and get an A "easily"...overall...touching experience.
Great prof. i almost changed my major! very passionate
What Prof Mokhtarzada brings to class is a depth of knowledge that isn't sanitized for your protection along with a real belief in the social ills that haunt the world. It isn't the average Prof that puts herself on the line to tell you like it is at the risk of being sanctioned by the cowards in administration. Support her, she's there for you.
She is funny, interesting, immense knowledge of history, sociology, current affairs around the world and in USA,intelligent too.you will learn all of those areas in her class. too bad i am not majoring sociology, however, to be well-rounded i acquired enough knowledge from her.
VERY NICE TEACHER. KIND OF HARD ON THE TESTS EVEN IF YOU READ THE MATERIAL. SHE IS OK, BUT IF YOU WANT EASIER TEACHER AND GRADE FIND SOMEBODY WHO IS MAKING EASIER TESTS.
her test are very hard...i went to class everyday butr never opened the book or studied and i got a c...but i hear there are easier teachers w/better handwriting...her handwriting is very, very bad and if u ask what something is on the board she sometimes copped an attitude...take someone else if it fits your schedule
Anyone who thinks that shes hard is retarded. easy tests.. just blame America and capitalism for everything... goes on socialist rants everyday.. if you disagree with her she will mock you but just kiss her ass and youll get an A.. Shes a joke
Take GOOD NOTES with this Lady. She gives NO STUDY GUIDE for the exams, so that makes her class harder. My suggestions if you are going for the RN; take ANTH 310 much easier course !!!!
Her class is very interesting...its good for republicans and narrow minded people to attend so they can get an idea of what is really going on in the world and not be selfish...shes great and the class is easy
I loved her class! She has alot of passion and it's contagious. I found her lectures interesting and her tests very easy. She doesn't make fun of people, but she does try to show you a differant perspective of the world around you.
I agree with the another poster - if you don't get a A or B you are retarded!! This teacher is SO easy! Just don't disagree with her -she will put you in your place! This class is basically useless, except for an easy A, because you're learning about sociology according to Prof. Mokhtarzada...very liberal...grin and bear it!
im glad her rating's great. but then again, its not a surprise cause shes an awsome professor!=] she seemed a little intimidating in the beginning but turned out to be one of the funniest professors. very humorous and sarcastic yet teachers thoroughly and makes everything interesting. U MUST BE A GOOD NOTE-TAKER to get an A & GO TO HER CLASS!
Open notes or not, you have to really understand her lecture. That's why attendance is very mandatory so YOU could pass. Take good notes and just ride on with her, you'll be fine. Final exam was not open notes so really be prepared! Grab your morning coffee, get your pen and paper ready, and clean your ears = Easy A!
Very good teacher, loved her lectures, and especially the occasional Republican/Bush/Iraq War bashing. She really knows how to make the lecture interesting.
first of all, her accent really bothers me. she goes off on tangents, she also discusses her political point of view which is totally irrelevant, and her jokes suck
Very good teacher...very passionate about what she teaches...hates racial jokes. Easy material...good teacher...good experience...take her.
Really funny and entertaining. Just go to class and take good notes and you will do fine.
This class was the easiest class ever. VERY EASY A, take it with her. Prof Mokthzarda is really nice and is willing to help you out.
Great teacher! Makes the topic very interesting!
she is smart teacher and could be very political. Talks a lot and knows her stuff. In terms of personality not great. She is not helpful at all and doesn't like to have an appointmets with students.
Passionate about her subjects. She makes the class very fun and interesting. However, she is not always perfectly clear on what she wants from you (writing assignments wise). When you ask her a question, she sometimes won't understand what you're trying to ask and starts answering what she THINKS you might be asking before you finish asking!
Her tests are straight from the lecture, so as long as you don't miss class, you can get an A easily. She's funny and really passionate.
Shalah is a nice enough person and can get really into the subject she is teaching. There is no homework but the notes she writes on the board are impossible to read. The way the questions on the test are phrased can be confusing and she gets really scattered, jumping from one thing then another then back to the original subject. Wouldn't take her
Quintessential liberal California professor. Thinly veiled political opinions. Uses tests from previous semesters, so no matter how much time she spends on a topic, the test is not going to change. Demands respect in the classroom. Don't distract her, she'll talk 45 minutes on a topic that won't be covered on the test. Obvious Obama supporter.
had her for my soc300, loved it so i decided to take soc342 w.her again. her lectures r never boring and as long as u come to class (take notes!!) and pay attention, u'll ace it u do have 2 write a lot of essays but its no biggie. i recommend taking her for soc300 if ure a good note-taker n good w/attendance n take soc342 if u need another GE clas
Very good instructor.Allows notes on exams, not final. She is a nice person in general.
She rocks! I just began taking her classes and she is by far the best professor I have had!(Could easily be best in ARC) Very respectful, funny and she KNOWS her stuff. Definately A+ professor
The most ideologically unbalanced professor I've ever had. A self-declared Marxist, she molds her class to fit her political beliefs and attempts to brainwash you into thinking capitalism is the source of all the world's evils. Her lectures often overlap and her repeating herself makes it difficult to want to go to class. Terrible professor.
shes an ok teacher if your really into sociology, her exams are off i didnt do so well on them and i read the chapters, i really dont get how her style of lecture its really self cordinated not really a routine, if you want an A you have to know sociology to begin with, shes an ok teacher.
She is something else, very smart person but should not be a teacher.During her lectures she says "etc, etc". what is etc??? She doesn't writing notes on the board and when she does you can understand it. Take someone else!!!
Wonderful Teacher! Opens your eyes to the social world we live in!
She's extremely liberal and uses her classroom as a soap box for her ideals. She talks about what is wrong with society so much that it makes me kind of depressed. She teaches Sociology in a way that makes me think about life and I use her teaching quite a lot when thinking about politics and social problems. Good information
While her lectures can be a bit hard to follow, if you pay attention you'll do just fine. A laptop to take notes helps big time because she moves kinda fast at times. I barely read the book, and I managed an A in the class after missing 10+ lectures.
Best professor at ARC bar none
She was amazing as long as you tried to follow along and understand her she was filled with such increadable information. I knew nothing of the subject before and she has really inspired me to learn more about the feild-and the world for that matter.
Shahla is the most remarkable person I've ever met in my life! She's cute, interesting and her lectures are never boring. If you really want to learn about all that ugliness that surrounds us take this class.
Her lectures are fun and clear...If everyone took her class, the world would be a better place.Tests are hard but if you come to class regularly and read the textbook carefully, you'll do fine...She also offers extra credit.
Okay, she is a really passionate women!!! yes, she's very out spoken on her political beleifs, and is very realistic, i believe it's because she is well educated and wants to share her thoughts. She is very blunt, and I like that. She needs to slow down! the class is interesting. TAKE NOTES, ASK QUESTIONS, just don't go off topic, or she will to!)
She was a great teacher. If you show up to her class and take notes then you will do go in her class. Sometimes it is hard to read her writing. She is very passionate about the subject. She also is very blunt so dont mess with her. All she asks of you to do is show up, pay attention, take notes, and be respectful.
She is an incrdible Professor and really cares about her students.
Shahla is a cool professor with a wonderful personality! A+
She is my Favorite Professor. She has done her job well in educating and teaching me to question thing She is very professional and very Intelligent. She earns her respect.and I respect her for this. She is to be commended. She has a great sense of humor. I have learned so much in her class. I would recommend everyone to take her class. AAA+
Professor Mokhtarzada is a very intellegent teacher. She is very sweet and knowledgeable. She goes out of her way to help students. I love her and definitely recommend her!!!
very welcoming and culturally intellectual
This class really REALLY opened my eyes. I cannot look at society the same way and Mokhtarzada's teaching cannot be erased from the brain- its impossible not to see aspects of her lectures in your everyday life. Lectures dominate class but lots of discussion, essays galore, but class quite enjoyable almost every time. Be ready for ADRENALINE!
Professor Mokhtarzada is Excellent, she is very intelligent and knows what she is talking about. Expect to be serious about this class, no cell phone or interruptions a no no, and be on time. Come to class everday, take good notes and you will LEARN so very much that you never even thought about. WoW!! She makes sense and speaks very clearly.
She is the BEST!!
Professor mokhtarzadah is very clear about what she says in class. Dont take her class if you want an easy A or dont like sociology. Take her class only if you wanna learn sociology. She teachees everything to you and you will learn a lot but its very hard to get (A)s on her tests. you should always be on time, no texting or any interruptions.
You must be interested in sociology to like her class. I was merely curious about sociology but didn't have much interest so I ended up hating the class. Not a class for everyone. She is very clear and knows what she talks about but it can get a little boring when it's a 3-hour straight lecture.
She is very professional and is very helpful and if you need help, just talk to her and let her know. She is very knowledgeable and she gave me motivation to speak up and take nothing for face value, so now I question everything. Bless her, she is very kind, nice and understanding. I Highly Recommend taking her class(es).
She is one of the best professors that I have ever had. Her class is highly enjoyable, as well as eye opening. If you come to class, take notes, and just listen - you will absorb all of the wonderful information she has to offer, and even get a little humor out of it as well! =]
SHE IS THE GREATEST TEACHER EVER! She is really funny. I had her in at 7:30am and she made me crack up, and i'm not a morning person! She is very clear, she will answer all your questions thoughtfully and carefully. She is very fair and balanced; she KNOWS what shes talking about! I would love her again, best teacher I've ever took en at arc!
wonderful teacher, humorous and genuine. youll love it! reasonable homework and fun lectures!
She is awesome! she really opens your eyes to see todays issues crystal clear. The lectures are very informative and fun. I truly enjoyed her class eventhough im not a huge fan of sociology itself.
She's not clear when she teaches, especially when she starts write on the board and begins to talk. My eyes wonder around, I don't recommend her.
i don't like they way she teaches!
Cool teacher. she is not one of those teachers that give away free grades, but she makes you feel interested in her subject. very honest and she does know what she is talking about.
I LOVED this class! My class was at 7:30 a.m. The time sucks, but she keeps you interested and is pretty funny too! She's the teacher that marches to the beat of her own drum that you'll alway's remember fondly. I plan to take more of her classes in the future. As far as doing well in the class. GO! Show up, take good notes, ask questions if y
I canunderstand why so many people have had mixed emotions about this professor. She is a very bias teacher on her subject, and hard to follow when she is lecturing. Overall just do your work, show up for class, do not listen to her (because she'll confuse you), and you'll get an A.
she is a good teacher. you do have to take notes though and listen, but she makes the class interesting. i learned a lot in her class and she really made me think. do take her if you are serious about learning dont if you want to mess around because she will call you out in the middle of class
I love this prof! She is not biased at all! She is clear on her lectures and sometimes lets you use notes on the exams. As long as you pay attention and don't try to argue your personal opinion you will do fine. I recommend her to everyone!
Very interesting lectures and comments that are relavent to current issues. Extremely biased and sometimes opinions can be too much.
This professor has inspired me to teach and to look deeper into what may be presented to me. Sometimes she does get a little off topic and quite often her opinions are voiced, however, in her class, ideas are discussed rather than thrown into the categories of right and wrong. If you ever get a chance to take her class, do so, you won't regret it.
she is my BEST prof ever, she was very easy to understand and she was very helpful, she lets you cheat in her class.i just luv her.i would like to take her again.
she is a GREAT teacher, and she has a wounderful soul.i love her teaching style and would recommend it for any one, extremely helpful and uses current issue on her discussions.just dont be rude and listen to her teachings you will be fine.she even let you cheat on 2 pages, what more can you ask for?
When u r the most Passionate is when u r the most Ethnocentric, is when u need to Detach and take the opposite view. That's how u obtain the SI and have that ah ha moment. She errors on not recognizing the uncomfortable Opposite View. D+
Great teacher!! Her lectures are interesting and cover the material in the text and on the tests! She likes order in her class, so try to avoid coming in late or having your phone ring!
this teacher sucks!! she is a great person but the worst teacher ive ever had!she can be soo funny and i love her personality but i didnt learn anything and neither did my class! there wasnt any assignments but four tests.she has a VERY low tolerance for lateness and cell phones. if u KNOW the material, then i recommend take her class.
Great teacher! She loves sociology and she will make you love it too! Sometimes her lectures are hard to comprehend so you really need to read the material! Gives you lots of opportunities to get a good grade! Definitely will open your eyes to what's really going on in the world and our own country. Very insightful.
Loved this class and I loved this professor! Tons of extra credit and she offers a lot of support for the work. She has an opinion, but will respect yours as well. I am taking her next semester as well because I liked her class that much. If you can keep an open mind and at times agree to disagree, take from her! She is funny, brilliant and caring!
She is a great teacher. She makes the class interesting. I don't know why some people say she is hard to understand. English is my second language (live here-4 years) and for me lectures were plain and clear. I got A. Definitely recommend her.
Great professor. Great content. Hard tests.
She will open your eyes to the social problems of U.S. and make you start to question our social institutions. Very knowledgeable, but sometimes is pretty hard to follow. Come to class everyday and take good notes and you will atleast get a B in the class.
well what can I say, I haven`t finished this summer class yet but so far I really, really like it. stay tuned...
I have yet to finish this summer class but I can say I really, really like it so far. stay tuned...
When she gets off topic she is interesting, but on topic she can be a bit of a bore. She has an annoying way of dealing with tardies and cell phones that is unecessary. Her tests are also extremely hard, I can't really say that i would recomend her.
She knows a lot and has good things to say but they are often lost in translation. She has a difficulty understanding questions and contradicts herself a lot. Her exams are difficult because they are not clearly written and she doesn't adhere to the subject matter that she specified the exam would be on. Fun class, difficult, but she is annoying.
An interesting class, if you can keep up with her. I swear she doesn't breath during her lectures! She knows her stuff, is very opinionated, and funny. Her tests are very difficult, as well as trying to read her hand writing to take notes. I suggest recording her lectures if you're brave enough to take her class. Dont ever be late either Good luck!
An entertaining professor. The lectures aren't necessarily based on the book, but there isn't that much to read anyway. The grade was determined by 3 noncumulative tests, 60 questions each. I'd say that most of the test questions were addressed in the reading and the lecture. Extra credit was provided as well. Definitely doable, I got an A.
She's opinionated, entertaining, strict and hates tardiness. Her lectures are bias, you can see through and find out her true political and religious affiliations by listening to her. She's a Politically Correct guru. She's quite amusing though.
Talks a lot, opinionated. Hard tests. Idk if she changed her teaching methods or something, but her class wasn't as easy or all that like her ratings on here.
She is very down to business and tells you its not going to be a easy A the first day of class.so if that doesn't scare you i would recommend her. she gives study guides with every chapter that she goes over with you in the review.keep up with the reading and lectures.they will help with the study guide. she does not grade with a cruve,no ex crdt
All she does is lecture from the beginning of class to the end, and you don't even want to listen to talk because she is so boring and rude at times. Her tests are based on lectures and the books, she gives study guides but they barely represent the tests and you have lots of notes to take. I would not recommend this class or this teacher.
This professor is top-quality. She's extremely intelligent, and uses humor to incite interest in her lectures which is the best teaching method one can utilize. She's strong-minded, which is awesome because these days people are too coward to admit they follow stereotypes, drink alcohol, and love sex. She'll bring you to reality. Take her class.
She is srict, but cares about her students. She added everyone on the 1st day. If you participate, show up on time, and do your best, she'll like you, and be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I got an A, but had to work for it. Not afraid to drop you if you don't come. She's awesome when you get to know her. I'd take her again!
Super funny, interesting..teaches great..strict on attendance..very interesting person
Shahla is a great teacher. She keeps you interested in the topic at hand because she is interested. She is very up to date on the everything she teachs. Very little assignments, tests are kinda wordy, intersting movies. Great teacher overall. Very fun and exciting. I will definately take her again. She keeps you entertained while learning. Amazing!
She is strict, give her respect, follow rules and you will not have a conflict. Tests are hard, read the material to pass. VERY knowledgeable on the subject & passionate about the subject matter. Lectures are interesting, take good notes. Recommend!
Very intelligent teacher and very strict. She WILL drop you for being late, absent, or falling asleep. She has interesting lectures and provides a study guide well before the exams.
She makes you feel dumb for asking questions. She'll emabarass you in front of whole class-very intimidating. she loves her subject though. sociology should be a MUST for all students. you'll nvr think the same.
Knows what she's talking about and definitely has a strict but effective policy, while still incorporating humor.
Treats students like they are in Middle School. I don't think I have ever had such strict rules in college EVER! and I have been to two state schools and this community college. 1. You cannot touch my property. 2. You cannot tell me I cannot leave the classroom and not come back in.
Disregard the comment below mine. I'm pretty sure that guy's in my class and just can't handle big boy rules. Mokhtarzada is a great teacher, and she may have some seemingly strict policies, but we aren't here to act like children and run in and out of class, or hide our cell phones under the desk while we text. This is college.
Shahlah is a powerful woman who knows her stuff... Very intense and brings the subject to life...Thank You
Shahla is a great professor and really knows her stuff. She keeps lectures interesting and fun and is an extremely kind person. Very passionate about Sociology and will definitely make you laugh. Take good notes and read the chapters assigned and you'll get an A on every test. Also offers an (optional) extra credit essay. Definitely recommend.
She was one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She just rambles on about things she hates like lawyers, politicians, and any one who basically isn?t a teacher. Her tests are impossible and her study guides are 90 questions long and forget about asking for help because she won?t.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This teacher is terrible I was interested in becoming sociology major prior to this class until I had this teacher. She is mean and when asking for help she yells at you for not having it in your notes when her lectures are just an hour and a half of her venting about all the people she hates.
Very informative Teacher and she really does know her stuff. Listen, and do the work. It is worth it. Learned alot! Great Professor!
She was a great professor. Very funny and completely brought the subject to life. Don't ask her stupid questions though because she will look at you like you are dumb. Very smart woman who knows her stuff. I would highly recommend her and plan to take another class taught by her.
She's very intelligent, very funny, and she makes the lectures interesting. My greatest qualm was that (believe it or not) there wasn't really any mandatory homework. We had an essay, not too big, and we could study on our own time, but our grade was reliant on our test performance. That being said, she was still an excellent teacher.
I have been to two state schools and this community college.I am an A student and this is my first F ever! She is horrible. She doesn't talk to her students. If you ask her questions she puts you down in front of the whole class. This is the worst professor I have ever had and I am a senior.
I dreaded going to this class due to the fact that it was 3 hours long of the professor talking the whole time. Shalah is pretty funny, however, so it was somewhat interesting. She comes off as strict & a bit intimidating but she ended up being nice. No homework other than the reading & studying for the exams, which she let us use notes on.
Worst professor ever. Anyone who dares to ask questions gets put down and made fun of. Very rude and thinks her class is the only one you have. Also very thick accent and hard to understand. Rambles a lot and likes to embarrass and call out students. Last person on Earth who should be a professor. Horrible.
currently in this class and am having a fun time. If you are serious about school she is a great teacher. Do not be late and never fall asleep. she does have an accent but I do not find it hard to understand her. Helpful and fun! pay attention and take notes, no real homework, grade depends on your tests, she gave us study guides. Great teacher!
She's nice and helpful. She jumps around in lectures and don't really use the book in class at all.
This professor expects serious students as this is not a typical GE class where answers and A's are handed out. The tests require comprehension of the material. Lectures are constructed to promote a better understanding of the material in the book. More connections lead to a better understanding.
This instructor is very biased towards male students..She shows a great animosity towards any idea or viewpoint that does not conform to her own radical Marxist ideology..Very uptight personality and has no sense of humor.
i love her class. She makes everything fun and easy to understand, she is very harsh with the grading but there is no homework at all just essays once in a while which are very easy if you understand what she is explaining and of course if you pay attentiom.i would definetly take another course with her.and i do reccomend her very exciting class
Anyone who says she is too radical needs to take a better look at themselves. She's an extremely intelligent woman and keeps your attention really well. The class is super easy and interesting. Easy essays, easy tests. Definitely recommended.
All exams were based on lecture so good notes are pretty much crucial to getting good grades on your exams. Most of the time it's hard to understand where she's going because she abbreviates when writing on the board and talks kind of fast (her accent doesn't help either) but if you listen to lecture, take good notes and study for exams you'll be fine. She can be funny at times but sometimes she comes off as rude. Overall she was an okay teacher. I recommend taking another teacher's class.
I really liked her class. She is very strict in the beginning of class, but she loosens up as class continues. There's 2-3 essays and 4 tests. Her class is not cumulative. It's simple if you study and take notes in her class. A difficult thing is that she abbreviates what she says on the board and it makes it difficult to follow where she's going.
A true college professor. Mokhtarzada doesn't mess around when it comes to assignments and stuff, but shes one of the most down to earth professors I've had. She's very knowledgeable and passionate about this class. Not an easy class at all, but so interesting, class time always went by so fast! I would totally take it again if I could!
If you miss one day, you're screwed. Her entire class is 4 tests (based on your notes from her lectures) and 2 or 3 essays. She's interesting, but she sometimes goes off on tangents that can get confusing when it comes to relativity. I would recommend her because she knows what she's talking about. You'll definitely learn something.
She is all bark and no bite. Extremely nice if she founds you are a serious student, e.g. no texting, sleeping or browsing the internet on ur laptop. Extremely helpful in helping you get the notes or extra materials you need if you were absent on valid reasons eg. hospitalisation. Class is very interesting, I learnt so much. Thank you Prof. M!
You definitely learn a lot in her class. However, you really need to work for an A, her exams are not easy, but she is worth taking because you will enjoy this class. Act like an adult, she has rules and you need to follow then because she does not tolerate otherwise. It is possible to get an A, but she does not hand it out. Prepare to LEARN!!
I must say, this class was really interesting. Barely used the text but that didn't stop me form passing. Just take notes on her lecture and you wont use the text much. Pretty easy, just don't be lazy! Essays are easy too!
I took this class on a whim because a friend mentioned Mokhtarzada was a great professor and my friend was correct! We had four exams, including the final, and two essays, one of which ended up being extra credit. If you make sure you're actually taking notes during the lectures and reading the book, you'll get an A.
Tried really hard in this class to get an A. The exams seem almost impossible. Hard to understand(Accent). Barely answers student's questions. You have to be a great note taker. Would not recommend if you want an A. Hard class!
She's a good professor. Is passionate about what she teaches. Sometimes it's difficult to follow lecture, and she has an accent, which makes it difficult to follow what she says. When answering questions, it seemed like she tried to make her point superior to her students'. Study guides are somewhat helpful. Gives chances for extra credit.
This is definitely a tough class. Take notes everyday (required & for your own sake). 3 essays 20pt ea, 2 midterms 60pt ea, & final 60 pt. she made our last essay EC. Offered 3 easy other 10 pt EC though out the semester. I did 3/4 EC (100%) & got a 74% & 68% on midterms, I still got an A in the class. Pay attention/take notes- you'll be fine
She is a good teacher. Wants everyone to learn the meaning of Sociology. She's understands if you couldnt make the leacture but make sure you get the notes from a classmates. All her notes come from her test. If you take good notes then you will good well on the test. She give an amount of extra credit.
shes funny and has interesting lectures and study guides are someone helpful. i really tried in her class and ended up dropping her class and received a w because there was no way id pass the class. she gives no homework and gives 2 essays. if your like me a bad test taker and rely on homework and extra credit dont take it!
In the first few weeks, she's stern. She has high standards for her students. Right off the bat, her lectures are sooo interesting. She is hilarious and knows how to capture your attention. While her lectures stay awesome, she herself gets nicer through the semester. Go to class, read the book when studying for exams & you will be golden. TRUST ME!
Shahla is the absolute best! I really enjoyed her lectures. She can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but she is very easy to like. She grades pretty easily as well.
Her class may seem difficult at first, however she is funny and take no prisoners. I loved this course! I learned a lot and you will not regret taking it. Supposedly her accent is hard to understand, but that's not true. Don't come late or miss a class! You will be dropped. Read the book, come prepared to always take notes, and do the study guide!
Shahla is a really wonderful professor. She is intimidating at first, but she just wants to make sure you're there to learn. Note-taking is a must, she WILL ask you to leave if you're not taking notes. Show her respect....and you'll get far. I highly recommend taking her class.
Love her. She is truly amazing professor and I seriously was considering changing my major to sociology after her class. She is fun and extremely passionate about the topics that she covers (politics especially) I got an A in the class. Take her.
I have a Master's degree and of all the tests I have ever taken, the 70-question multiple choice exam was the most unrelated to the class materials as I have ever experienced. Textbook material is not used, so do not waste your time. Questions use definitions and phrases not discussed in class or the text. Equivocates words. Unorganized lectures.
I attended every lecture during the semester, took notes, and read the book, and I still felt like the tests were just pulled out of thin air. Material IS easy to understand, but that won't help you. Good luck.
2 essays, 2 E.C. assignments 10 pts each, 3 tests and final was 200 pts. Her tests are based on the notes that she gives in class. The test is outdated and doesn’t make sense. She refuses to go over answers to the test. She's funny at times, sometimes at the expense of others.I recommend you take another Sociolgy teacher if you want a good grade.
I took her Summer class and seem fortunate to do so. Only tests and no essays. She is extremely passionate in what she does and is inspirational. I learned life lessons from her.
Very easy summer class. Ended up with over 100% Very passionate and knowledgable. Great class to take!
Great teacher with high credentials. There is really no HW except studying, and only a few assignments per semester. She goes on rants and prepare for her to challenge your beliefs, for example if you believe we aren't in Iraq for Oil, or that America doesn't just like to "go to war", she gave us her "social fact" on how that belief is wrong.
She is relatively easy, relax, and interesting especially in her lectures and videos she puts up. Her test aren't that hard; she lets you pick a partner for the test, for anyone who wants a passing grade or above i recommend her
Tests and lectures did not make sense at times. Long rants during lectures, and long, run-on, nonsensical questions on tests made things a little confusing. Asks for a paper on your opinion on a social issue, grades you down if it doesn't line up with her opinion. Not the hardest class, just frustrating at times.
First month or so, you probably won't like her, unless your fascinated by her plethora of degrees. Long syllabus full of rules that she eventually lightens up on. She can be your worst nightmare but just ignore everything, show up every day, kiss her butt, and enjoy an easy grade with no homework ever due. Very informative lectures, take notes!
She a genius, but she shouldn't be a teacher. English isn't her first language so she can sometimes get caught up trying to translate her thoughts. The class itself isn't hard, but she's very disorganized in her lecture and thought patterns and seems to have ideas mid-lecture, then follow them wherever they take her leaving you confused.
This lady.... Save yourself do not take her. she throws a butt load of un organized info at you and her tests are redic.
Do not take her class. She expects a lot and is a tough grader. She gives out 2 different syllabus' the first day, one of which is a solid rule guideline. She will ridicule you in front of the whole class when you're talking to the person next to you about her lecture and relating it to your personal life. She treats her students like children.
She lecture all class but they are interesting lectures and she let's you use notes on exams. This class was an easy A. She can be strict if your slacking off being disruptive but this is college after all.
I took her class in spring 2013, and I thought she was great. She has a lot of guidelines, but theyre the kind of rules all professors should expect their students to follow. Interesting lectures, take notes and read the book and you should pass.
Her lectures can be confusing , but her test had to many opinionated questions, and she will talk about pointless stuff to kill time to the very last minute of class. she will yell at you very disrespectfully if your late. the first essay consisted of 15 different social problems and cannot repeat a topic . very hard.
I personally have a lot of conflicting ideology with her. She claims to be neutral politically but constantly insults the republican party and their ideology; calling them uneducated, ignorant, and hateful. I had a hard time taking her test because a lot of her test are worded to be subjective and opinionated (pro-liberal).
This teacher does not hold back! She is a political atheist. If you love your party (either one), or love the idea of America being at a constant war, then don't take this professor. HOWEVER, she absolutely loves America, but isn't blind to the faults of both parties. She isn't a Capitalist, and if you think that you are, she may change your mind.
Professor Mokhtarzada is a good teacher. Her lectures are interesting and full of knowledge . Tests are tough, but she have a revision class before exam and sample test which are really useful. You can get an A if you read the book and her notes .
Professor Mokhtarzada is an amazing professor . She is very knowledgeable about developing nations and the current issues with development. She basically lectures the whole 80 minutes so get ready to listen and take notes. If you go to class, do the readings and complete all the assignments you will get a good grade.
This was one of the best courses I've taken. Her lectures are outstanding.
She's super hard to understand due to the fact that she goes off topic. She is not very helpful when you ask. Read Read Read!!!! Take notes like you've never taken notes before.
She doesn't explain anything when you ask and like to call you out to embarrass you.
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE AN ATHLETE SHE CHASTISES YOU FOR MISSING FOR YOUR SPORT. Doesn't explain anything, hard to understand.
Professor Mokhtarzada goes off topic during her lectures. Her test are weird and you really don't know where you stand as far as grades go. There is not really a chance to earn points except on four tests and essays. Her lectures have nothing to do with the test. Read your book and you may ease by with a C. It seems like an A or B is not possible.
Great teacher! She will scare you the first day! Be on time to class!! It's one of her pet peeves and you will be sorry you were late. Her lectures are fascinating and definitely not boring! Do not miss any classes or you will not pass. Her tests are hard but if you show up, turn ur work in. I'll be fine! sk for help if needed! She is VERY helpful
Worst professor I have ever taken! Horrible lecturer. Tests are hard. Don't take her.
She definitely isn't the teacher for everyone, but being that there is no HW besides studying, only 3 exams and 2 easy essays, I don't really care what rules she has. If your a student that likes to text in class, leave class, show up late, chit chat, then DO NOT take this class! This is a science course so pay attention & you'll pass no problem.
She's pretty strict with her rules for one, but not a problem for me. Lectures are the whole period but there's no HW, just study for upcoming tests. It's best to not skip class or you fall behind. The 2 essays are easy As if you do them correctly w/correct format. Tests are tricky and a little difficult. You have to actually read and study.
This professor is tough but I would take her again and again. She really is in touch with the world and its social problems. She makes you think and brings so much to light.
This was the best class I've taken over the past 3 years I've been at ARC. Mohktarzada is the kind of professor who teaches to people who want to learn and are actively listening. If you go to every class and really listen for the full 1:20 minutes, you'll walk away with a much clearer view of whats really going on in this world. Shes hilarious too
I absolutely ADORE prof M! Her lectures are so insightful. Most of what she lectures on is on the exams, however u will need to read the textbook for more detail. Her exams require students to apply the concepts to the questions, rather than strict memorization. She lets you use her study guide/notes on exams except for the final! Would take again.
Her class was very interesting. Her tests were hard and tricky. One thing I did not like is you really do not know where you stand in the class throughout the whole semester as in grade wise. She gives you this rubric that does not make any sense. I probably won't take her again.
She knows what she is talking about. She is sweet... but will embarrass you in front of the class. Can NOT leave her class even for ANYTHING or you will be kicked out. Her test are super hard. Not only do you HAVE to read but you really need to study for full detail. I would NOT take her again just because she makes the tests are really confusing.
If you're in school to get good grades and not experience a myriad of teachers, do not take her! She is an expert on the science of sociology and demands attention from her students. Yet, she is so knowledgeable and so inspiring that I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. GREAT dresser!
I absolutely love Professor Mokhtarzada. I just finished her class, and it was by far the best class I've had all semester long. She is very knowledgeable and also very compassionate. I am so glad I took her class. Her tests are based of her notes which she goes over very well in class. If you genuinely want to learn about sociology she is the best
She gives the most passionate fantastic lectures, but is strict on the format of her essays. If you receive a poor grade and ask her why, her feedback is bogus. Ask all the questions you can about formatting or citations, b/c she won't tell you upfront. I managed to get an A because this class was taught by another professor in the 2nd 8 weeks.
I just took her class for soc301 and she is great! She covers everything in her lectures so you hardly have to look at the book, she makes sure you understand the material and makes it easy to participate in discussions. Barely any work just an essay and midterm after each section. She does give few extra credit assignments for 5 points.
Basically pay attention to her lectures and take notes because that's what's going to be on the exam. I hardly looked at my book. Her lectures were very interesting to me. But please don't try to catch attitude with her cause she isn't the one so chill. Overall amazingggg professor!! Made me love sociology!!
She's smart, funny, and a great sociologist, but very didactic in her teaching. 2 students got "A"s in this class. This is the first time in my life I didn't get an "A." She's very easy to listen to, but very hard to talk to, as in asking questions. She assumes what you are going to say and goes off. Entertaining, but unhelpful.
This professor is not clear on instructions, or what she is looking for and when grading assignments the feedback makes no sense and is extreme in terms of grading. I have always been an A or B student but in this class I have significantly dropped to a point I have never seen before due to the really hard and unclear grading.
Even though I only had her for 8 weeks, she is a very tough grader and her directions are not clear. She likes to belittle people and embarrass them in front of class. One good thing I can say about the class is that there are no tests.
I hate this lady so much I am here again 2 years later to tell you to avoid this at all costs. She makes assumptions off of you and grades you off that. Terrible teacher. Please do not take her. Save yourself
Prof. Mokhtarzada simply doesn't care. I took her class online and I was honestly confused the whole time. Her canvas was unorganized and confusing. She made countless grammatical and spelling errors in her assignment instructions causing everything to be unclear. It seems as though she just puts everything together randomly and I learned nothing.
Absolutely amazing lectures! I looked forward to her class. She is however strict w/ attendance & is anti electronics. All her lectures are in person & take notes! Tests are 75% lecture, 25% book. 4 tests & 3 papers. Unfortunately I struggled bad with her multiple choice tests. The questions were graduate level, but her lectures & material is easy.
Worst professor I have ever had! Online class due to COVID. She did nothing to teach anyone, and only assigned reading. No lectures, no video meetings, and rarely responded to any emails I sent asking for help. Tried to attend office hours multiple times to which she was never available. I will never take a class of hers again as she does not care.
I enjoyed taking this class because the syllabus was straight forward and easy to follow throughout out the semester. It consisted of 10 discussion posts, 2 simple essays, 3 exams and 10 extra credit quizzes. Make sure to write your diss. posts in a clear format & Pretty sure everyone will end up with a high grade if you do the extra credit.
Prof. Mokhtarzada is a wonderful professor who makes students excited to come to class! Intelligent, clear, and straightforward is her teaching style and it helps students follow along easily. She's kind and speaks in an organic, down-to-earth manner. If you want someone interesting who teaches well, she is for you!
