This teacher is pleasent and doesn't kill you with homework, but if you are not in class by the time she takes roll, you will be marked absent. Take her if you can be on time.
First off, she is an extremely good teacher, Knows her stuff and teaches it clearly. Not a major amount of homework, definately takes the working student into mind. Only complaint is her tests are EXTREMELY HARD. I know the subject matter, and only gota B
Do not take Razavi's class if u dont understand the material well. Her hw assignments are barely worth doing & her test will kill you. She will give you ridiculous 1 pt xtra credit assignments that won't help you catch up at all. She is not very helpful to students who struggle in math.
She was no help really. Thank goodness someone int he class knew what she was talking about because our teacher was lost for awhile. In her defense though, it was her first time teaching the material. You are better off not taking this class.
Final was extremely hard. 20 pts. extra credit didn't relate to math so working students that couldn't go to the films--couldn't do the extra "work". Great instructor & offers office hours EVERY DAY she's there to help you. Tutoring also available. Lots better than Bob Avila! Speaks great English!

Very helpful and dynamic teacher. She explains clearly and makes sure everyone is understanding the material. I didn't think her tests were especially hard or anything. I'm not a math major and got an A. I recommend her class.
This teacher is so enthused about math that she makes it interesting. I love math, but some things were hard for me. Make sure to do all of your homework, and try to do all of the extra credit. She's great! She even told us exactly what was going to be on the Final. She helped me out, and I got an A. Take her!!!
She helped my confidence level after being out of the school scene over 10 years. Making sure everyone understood was important to her. Doesn't tolerate tardiness. She wanted you to succeed and prepares you well. I experienced to language barrier compared to other foreign professors.
She is the BEST teacher I have ever had! She is the kind of teacher that makes kids feel like they can do it. She goes out of her way for anyone who wants help, and even works off the clock. I love you Teach!
She is the best math teacher I've ever had. She is patient and sincerely cares about her students. I wish there were more teachers like her out there!
If your learning higher math you might wanna go with a different teacher, I had to drop by the end of the semester. I don't recomend her unless you are a math whiz and can teach yourself.
She is very helpful. She gives you a schedule for when all the tests are and the homework is taught. She takes time out of her own schedule to help. Genuinely cares about her students and how they are doing in math. Passionate about her subject. I would reccomend taking her class.
A great teacher, she explains everything very clearly. She makes sure everybody knows how to do the lesson. If for some reason someone doesnt get it, well then her office is open and she is always eager to help any student who is having trouble. No matter how math illiterate you may be, SHE CAN HELP, just make sure to do your homework. A+ Razavi!
I took her last semester and she was very helping. If I could have, I would have taken her again. MATH WAS FUN!!
I had Mrs. Razavi for math 90 and she was a great techer. She broke everything down into very clear steps. I don't think she gave any partial credit on tests and that was the only negative thing.
I have taken her from 50-90 & will take her for 96 & 105, she is the BEST!! she makes you want to learn & is always willing to go out of her way to help you reach your gole! Its like she cares about you more then you do. I love you Mrs. Razavi, thank you!!
I love this lady! I hated algebra before I knew her because I didn't understand it, but because of her I like it now and I'm good at it. She is the best teacher to learn math from. Math is fun!
Shala is the best instructor I ever had, Math is hard but Shala is always there to help her students. If you go to her office hours she will give you candies after she helps you. Shala your the best.
Best math teacher and best professor I have ever had. Always a great attitude, always willing to answer questions and put in extra time for struggling students. She prepared me so well in precalculus that I am now cruising though calculus with no problem.
The greatest teacher ever. So cliche, but she really cares about her students. she loves for students to come into her office and ask for help, yet that rarely happens because she explains things so well (and clearly and easy...) the first time around in class. Take her if you can, you wont regret it. :)
Like always, she's the BEST!!!! Thanks Mrs. Razavi your a good, no you are a great professor! But take time to rest because we need you:0)
VERY FRUSTRATING! She's nice but I think she's harsh when it comes to grading. She takes off too many points for simple mistakes. The class consists of 3 tests, the final, and like 12 quizzes. She offers 2pts e.c. for every Amnesty club meeting u attend although theyre at very inconvienient times like 6pm on a fri. I wish she would drop a test!
Had her for pre-calculus and calculus. Tests are kind of hard, but she gives specific problems from the homework to study for each test, so if you know how to do them all, you'll be fine. Extremely nice teacher, really wants her students to do well.
Lots of work a student needs to pay attention from day one, take lots of notes, and attend class if they want to pass. She is very helpful if you ask for help.
Had her for Calculus 1. Really sweet lady, cares about her student's performance but she does grade strictly. No BS-ing on your exams: you'd better know the concepts, not just the plug-and-chug, which I think is better. Prep'd me well for Calc 2. You can oretty much tutor the subject if you pass her class.
Please listen to me and DO NOT TAKE HER! She is very mean and is hands down the worst teacher I have ever taken!!!! You have to use her "method" or she will fail you even if you got the right answer!! Please listen DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Previous rating does not reflect reality at all. She is the best math teacher I have ever had. Students neither have right to leave that kind of comments, nor have they any excuses to do bad in her class. Mrs. Razavi is a great talented caring teacher. She presents material clear enough for any ****sapiens to understand. Take her class.
I started off with a professor who was so horrible (and subsequently fired) that I had to switch into Razavi's class late with a D. She was FANTASTIC. I absolutely love her! She was sweet, funny, kind, compassionate, and most importantly, explained math in a way I completely understood. I got an A in her class! Take her, you won't regret it!
I regret it!
I am a math major and I had her for math 110 and 210 and loved her...wish she taught all the math casses. She is a great instructor for math and non math mahors. very sweet, informative, funny and willing to help. My idol.
an excellent professor, who cares for each student.
She is the best!! Take her!
She works hard and is very understanding of what students are struggling with and what she is talking about. take her
Good teacher, she will help you if you need help, she moves preety fast to fit in all the material, she has an accent but it's not horable. If you don't do homework you will not pass, the quizes come from your homework assignment so turn make sure you have your homework because you never know when she is goijng to say, turn in problem 3 and 73:)
i thought she was a great teacher. Very understanding and always willing to help. she can sometimes be hard to understand. but overall a great teacher. Highly recommend her to students looking for more than just a math teacher as friend and mentor. :)
If you want to learn math 050 and get a good grade, don't take her. She does not even have a degree in math and she insists on using her methods instead of letting the students use which method is easiest for them.
Very strict you must do the work exactly how she says or it is wrong. On the up side she will try to help you.
I love this teacher she is very personable, and likes to laugh she writes notes so you can recieve them through blackboard. If you are talking to a friend she willnotce right away and say something witty to make you feel stupid, also if you walk in late she willmention it infront of the entire class, so as you could imagine class is fun at times
Stay away if you don't do well on tests. Your entire grade is based upon 5 exams taken through out the semester. Great professor though. Best Math class i've ever taken.
I feel very lucky to have been in her class. Her teaching style is just excellent and I look forward to another class with her.
Truly the most amazing teacher I have ever had. She has such a great passion for teaching and does an excellent job at it. I wish I could take her for every subject. She explains things very well and is extremely helpful.
She's alright, but she confused me sometimes. the only reason I got a good grade in the class was for my friend in High School (yes High School). She helped me understand and I passed my final. She took what I learned throughout school and told me it was wrong....
STAY AWAY! She is not consistent as an educator. She has different rules and expectations for different students in same class. Horrible
Great Teacher hope to get her next term
Do not take this teacher. I am usually a good student who does well in school. After I took her class, I didn't do as well as I hoped. Her hw is practically worth nothing and her tests are super hard. Stay away if math is not ur subject.
VERY GOOD TEACHER
She is one of the best math teachers. She does have her way of teaching the process but it works. It is important to do the homework as it does help a lot on tests.
If you dispise math not the professor for you. Attendance is mandatory missing a couple of days of class will hurt you big time. Gives alot of homework. Very passionate about math and knows what she is talking about. Very helpful to students and nice
she is a great teacher
The worst math teacher I have ever taken. I love math and find it quite easy but she just confuses everyone including me. Her lectures are NOT planned and she never finishes what shes trying to teach but yet still assigns the hw anyways. There are only 5 tests and she grades extremely harsh! If you dont do it her way even if its right you are wrong
I took this class as a refreseher course as I have not been in a math class for years. This teacher has her own ways of teaching this subject and will NOT entertain any other ways of learning but her own. she is VERY hard-headed stubborn and even rude when you suggest another way of learning. DON'T take her unless you have no previous math history.

i just took this class and she is very useful, some times the class is hard, but she makes the class easier.
I love Professor Razavi! No, her class is not easy but she really cares about her students and takes the time to help you if you don't understand. She teaches you so you learn not just memorize math!
I really like Mrs. Razavi. She's very good at making sure you understand the concepts. I've taken her for 50 & 51 and left both classes feeling very prepared for the next level of math. She is a little particular about doing things her way, but for good reason. I recommend taking her.
You actually learn. No memorization. She is very helpful and cares about her students. Take her if you can!
Shala is not a good teacher in my opinion, she does not care if you don't understand, she skipps important information, and expects a lot and wants you to learn on your own. Do not take her
This professor is a real good person very nice an polite i cannot say the same for her teachings, she will never finish on time, assigns too much homework, grades extremely hard and cares more about the history of math than teaching it.
Very unclear!
As a person, professor Razavi is sweet and warm. However, I can't say the same for her as an instructor. Her lectures are often confusing and incomplete which tend to leave you in frustration when you are doing your homework.
Extremely unclear, rigid, and dull. If you don't hate and struggle with math already, she'll give you a reason to. Her lectures are rambling, she's difficult to understand, does not explain well, and it's her way or the highway - even if your answer is correct, if it's not her way, it's wrong. Avoid at all costs.
She is really sweet and nice, She makes sure you understand the material even though her accent is a little hard sometimes. She is very organized and collects homework before each test. I really like her and will definitely take her class again. Great teacher.
This is the worst teacher that I have ever had in my life and the 3 years that I've been at this college. She is rude, unhelpful and completely unfair when it comes to grading tests and quizzes. She crams 3 lessons into 2 hours and then tests us on it without reviewing. You cant understand her bc of her accent. If your'e not good in math, dont take!
If you struggle with math, DO NOT take her.She is super picky and she grades really hard. She is too fast and makes us cram too much material into one test. Imagine 8 sections a test. If she doesn't go through it in class, she expects you learn it on your own. One plus is that she's pretty nice, she'll help you IF she has time..
Mrs. Razavi comes across as a fun person, and reminds me of some of the teachers I had in middle school. However, she requires that you do everything her way, and she is completely not understanding. To top that off, she offers almost nothing as buffer, so you better get good grades on the tests or you will fail. Nearly half of our class got a D/F.
She is a great teacher. She clearly has a passion for her work & will do whatever she can to help you learn. You do need to be there & do the homework but unless math just comes naturally to you this is going to be the case with any math class! She has been teaching for more than 20 years and has figured out the best way to help you succeed!
Honestly unless you dont have a job and are only taking this class then take her other wise she is impossible. he assign well over a hundred problems every class day that is due the next class day, and that has to be completed her way her form or no credit will be give her test are crazy hard, and try and tell her otherwise.....no such thing.
I have taken Ms. Razavi for many classes, Math 90, 105, 110...she is an absolutely amazing teacher. She is the most dedicated, kind, helpful teacher and will set you up for success. My husband also took her classes, he now has an engineering degree, I have my master's (education/and B.S. math). BEST teacher ever, take her classes!
Mrs. Razavi is an oldschool style of teacher. She teaches with her methods, and accepts nothing else. If you complete a problem in a different manner, or skip any steps, you'll suffer for it. She comes across as a nice lady, but save yourself the headache and take Mathematics with someone else.
worst class, and worst professor ive ever had.
Do NOT take her. Period. Her strategy is a ridiculous amount of homework which does no use if you do not understand the material. & if you ask her a question her response is "go to a tutor." She covers one or two sections each class meeting and deducts more points than she gives. I had to with drawl, it was that or FAIL.
Before taking this class, I was horrible at math and did not understand it AT ALL. After having Professor Razavi, I learned this difficult subject and things got easier for me in the following semesters. Honestly, it is hard but if you can stick around and finish the class, you will have learned more than most professors can teach you. ITS WORTH IT
She is okay at explaining the problems, and she has a tendency to take to much time going over homework questions and rushes the rest of class.
Very dedicated teacher.....demands respect..but i believe thats the way it should be, if u do not take school serious do NOT take her class & waste eveyone's time....takes time to teach & always finds a pattern to all her wrk so that it is easier to follow.
Terrible teacher, not helpful. The tests are nothing like the tons of busy work you have to do. They are just random problems that you have never seen in your life.
Terrible teacher, not helpful. The tests are nothing like the tons of busy work you have to do. They are just random problems that you have never seen in your life.
I truly hate math and was scared to do it online but it wasn't that bad. The software has a tutor mode that was helpful. If something wasn't clear, you could ask on the DB and she'd answer in a timely manner and explain it clearly. I still hate math but she was a good teacher to take. Hint: She gets her test questions from the homework.
Tough teacher, but dedicated to teaching! I struggled, but because of subject not the teacher. Leave your cell phone off and out of sight!!! Respect her rules and do your homework...you'll do just fine.
She is very helpful and is willing to spend time to go over problems with you and areas you are having trouble with. The class is very hard and does require a lot of work, but as long as you are a hardworker you will do fine.
Assigns far too much homework...explains too little...test are borderline
This was PreCalculus. The professor is very nice! Always willing to help and never criticizes you. HOWEVER! Although she is a nice person, she is not a great teacher. Her lectures are not pre-planned so it makes the lectures more, her figuring it out along with you rather then her teaching you. Nice person, not the ideal person to teach Calculus.
Professor Razavi is EXTREMELY HARD! Her tests are really really hard and she takes off points for very little tiny mistakes. Her quizzes are hard as well. She is really nice, however her tests are really hard. Class attendance is mandatory. Does not like when students arrive late to class. Really hard class to get an A!!
I hear Pre-Cal is very hard, but, Ms. Razavi is a good teacher, She is a bit of a tough grader, but this is a college class, so you should expect it. I really enjoyed her explanations, she has multiple ways of explaining the material if you struggle. She is always very helpful when you ask her for it. attendance is mandatory, So don't miss class!
DON'T TAKE!Gives university level work load I've been told &have experienced. Also if this isn't your only class it's very difficult to keep up with her syllabus, she expects you to spend 30 hrs. on math each week as if you have no life. Also she doesn't give pre-tests,& expects you to retain EVERYTHING which is unrealistic if you aren't math major
I Love Mrs. Razavi! She is an excellent instructor. The best ive had. First time i dont have to teach myself out of the book. The class is challenging but she works with you. She is strict in tests but questions are straight out of hw. Quizzes are your hw. For example she will say "Im collection Quiz 5; Chpt 4.2 # 19." She offer extra credit too.
Professor Razavi is the best math professor I have had so far. She really cares about her students and wants you to succeed. She explains the lessons clearly and gives many detailed examples so that you will understand. The class is not easy, but she does a great job explaining. Four exams, 10 quizzes from homework, and group work. Great professor
She is a very nice teacher, she explains the material well and does not mind taking time to answer questions. She does give out a lot of homework but as long as you show up to class and do your homework you will pass fine.
Love her. Great professor, great person. Didn't think I would do so well, but I did Better than I thought. Study HARD, AND DO THE HOMEWORK atleast twice, and you will see she is very fair in her teaching. My fellow class mates and I joked she graded hard, but thats irrelevant, use your first test to get use to her grading, and adjust, my advice.
Great teacher, hard class! She gives lots of homework, but it counts as credit towards your test so DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Totally worth the extra points! She is very clear teaching style. TURN YOUR CELL PHONE OFF AND PUT IT AWAY!! Her pet peeve! Grading is fair, but extra credit papers aren't worth the three points.
She is kind of hard. A lot of homework! But worth it. Quizzes are one of ur homework questions. Test are okay. Only way to know that you will pass is by going to tutoring. Can't be lazy at all. She gives extra credit chances.
She is ok. Gives tons of homework. Have to study hard. Also, put away your phone! If she hears it the whole class with get a quiz! Wouldn't take her again though.
I really like math, but not w/ her. W/ the 4 1/2 hours of class a week, we do not learn nearly enough. She does know math very well, BUT SHE HAS BEEN TEACHING IT FOR SO LONG THAT IT IS APPARENT SHE HAS FORGOT WHAT IT IS LIKE TO NOT KNOW THE SUBJECT. She really cannot convey the material well. If you do take her class, make sure you use the tutor.
If you're good at math & need a refresher, it should be a good class. She is very good at math &, ironically enough, that is her weakness. She has been teaching the material so long that she has forgot what it is like to not understand the material. She's a nice lady, but a little impatient, focuses too much on group work, not enough on examples.
Wonderful professor. Down to earth. Truly caring. She takes time to ensure students truly internalize the information. If you score badly on a midterm, and your final exam grade is higher than that midterm, the final will replace that midterm score. I love her enthusiasm both towards the subject and her students. I would take her for higher math.
she is a nice teacher and soft spoken but she gets all her examples from the book. when u have a homework problem trouble she is very confusing in explaining it and students are constantly correcting her. she seems to only go off the book. if good at math give it a shot but it is a hard class because of her
Not a good professor. She is nice but not a good teacher. She is confusing. Gives a ton of homework. Like the others said her students are constantly correcting her. You will need the textbook because that is where are the examples and homework comes from. She can also be rude. Take her only if you have no other choice. I wouldn't take her again.
She is kewl. Teaches very well.
Doesn't grade fairly especially on tests and is too concerned about form rather than whether you know the material and can get the right answer. and by form I mean parenthesis and where you place the log in logarithmic equations. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Best math professor I've had to date! She's helpful, clear in her explanations, and cares about her students. Attendance is mandatory, as is homework. She does offer extra credit. Tests are in the middle in terms of difficulty (grades with partial credit, too). Would def. take again. She actually prepares her students for the next higher class.
This professor is by far the worst math professor at Mt. San Jacinto Community College. Can speak fluent English, but when it comes to comprehending English, this professor struggles to understand basic questions. This professor does not follow the syllabus, and does not allow the student to solve problems their own way. Even if it is correct.
I would not recommend this class to anybody! She is very rude! Also it is very hard to understand her. Her explanations are so confusing. She goes at her own pace which makes it hard to follow. She even makes simple long division confusing! Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. She treats her students like high school students.
She's tough, however if you do the work and ask questions you will do great. I took her online class and had many stressors at home thought about dropping so many times but I studied hard. She was also very approachable she cares about her students.
She Is a wonderful teacher possibly my favorite professor that I have taken at MSJC. She does not only care about her students but she cares about the well-being of people. She is a little jittery during lecture, but she explains things thoroughly, I basically lived in her office hours she will help with whatever you are having trouble with.
Nothing against her. She is a good person. But college is supposed to be about living in the "grey" area... If you are a "black & white" kind of person, take this class. If you like to learn in an environment that is willing to adapt to your needs, do not take this professor. The material covered is tough, language barrier can be a problem. HW! HW!
The class started out with 45 studetns and ended up with less than half. She will only allow you to do math HER way even if you are correct. She deducts points if you don't do things her way (even if you do it how it shows in the book). Take at your own risk. Oh, and she won't take doctors notes. You are allowed to miss 3 times before she drops you
I hadnt taken a math class in 12 years, work a full-time, 24hour on-call job & have 2 kids under two I watch while my wife works full time as well. Mrs. Razavi used the most affordable textbook Ive ever seen in college, and made time for her students when they needed it. Those who actually learned the material did well. If I can do it, anyone can.
Nothing against her, she's a good person but wouldn't recommend her. Gives Pop quizzes & whenever she hears a cellphone ring, an extra quiz given. Wont give you credit if her methods aren't used in the problems. Takes roll like 5 min before class actually starts. Tests are way harder than the hw problems & she only uses the textbk prbm to practice
Professor Razavi is a very compassionate professor. The homework you can take as long you like so long as deadline is met. The gives reviews for her test. Some of her test questions were hard and some we easy. I learned a lot.
Not sure about on-campus, but online she was terrible. The textbook material didn't match the online assignments (Hawkes) and her tests are ridiculous. She will choose the most difficult question from each section for her tests. I will never take an online math course again. Just choose someone else.
