VERY difficult class. Requires mass amount of reading, memorizing, & understanding 4 both lecture and lab materials. Very time consuming. Unnecessary hw 4 lab & lecture class are given. Attendance affects grade & is mandatory. Multiple choice tests. Practical section tests in lab 2 pinpoint anatomical areas of body. Lectures from PowerPoint slides.
VERY difficult class. Requires mass amount of reading, memorizing, & understanding for both lecture and lab materials. Very time consuming. Unnecessary hw for lab & lecture classes. Attendance affects grade & is mandatory. Multiple choice tests. Practical section tests in lab to pinpoint anatomical areas of body. Lectures from PowerPoint slides.
Easy class lab test are easy A's. Lecture test are based off of the powerpoints.
The class is pretty straightforward the lecture tests are all based on his notes from powerpoint, the lab is simple its just memorizing the pictures from the book. Overall this class requires a good amount of studying but he doesnt make it impossible to do well in the class.
Dr. B is a really good professor. He is MD trained and is very knowledgeable. It is imperative that YOU STUDY!!! There is no way to pass this class by just listening. He does offer extra credit at the very end (1 paged typed paper) but it will only help people who are borderline, like 67% to get a "C". Good luck!
Dr B is a great prof. his tests are based on his slides and the lab test you'll need to use the book for to look at pictures and be able to choose the correct name. overall i had fun in his class and would love it if he taught other bio classes too! hes very helpful and patient with all the students.overall you need to study and put in effort!
I had professor bakhtiari and I loved him. He is very understanding about the work load that his student have and he is always willing to explain. He is a bit monotone so it makes it hard to pay attention to everything he says but tests are FULLY based on slides and the lab tests are based on the pictures he gives.
Prior to attending Dr. B's class, I was a little hesitant because of all the bad reviews I was hearing about him. Let me reassure you that none of it was true. Albeit, his class was pretty difficult, you have to make it a priority to study in his class. His tests are mostly on his slides so make sure you study them diligently and you'll be fine.
I only had him for lab, but he's pretty chill. He doesn't come off too strong (personality-wise) and is there to help, so don't hesitate. Lab was always interesting, with the dissections that we had to do. The midterm and final is easy, just don't stress out!
One of the best profs in WCU (and my college career). His lectures are very thorough and holistic. I really enjoy his lectures because he makes his students see the big picture and teach them how to really apply and put together everything that we've learned from anatomy, physio, micro, etc. He is an MD. Very helpful prof. Best prof in WCU so far.
I have to say that he is a wonderful professor regardless of hes monotone voice hes class is very enjoyable. Study off the slides almost all questions from the quiz are on it.
Is a nice guy but his tests are very very hard. Attendance is mandatory especially in this class. You have to live and breather this class to do good and also his lectures dont help as much on the tests as he says it does so read everything, do everything u can to know the chapters really well.
Very helpful, definitely knows the subject, will explain something to you different times if you are unclear on a topic. Grade fairly, test are kind of hard but if you study and listen during class you will pass. One of the best at WCU.
Dr Bakhtiar is a great professor.
He is very knowledgeable about the material that he is teaching. He is very soft spoken, so you must force yourself to stay away at some points throughout lecture, especially if you take him at 7 am. He is very helpful and teaches you all the information you need to know. Pay attention in class and review the slides and you should be fine!
Dr. B is very knowledgable professor. Micro is a hard subject but his explanations are clear and to the point. Besides the slides you need to read the book to understand the concepts.
ok, despite of his kinda monotone, soft-spoken voice, Dr. B was a very knowledgeable teacher. I feel like I overstudy for the quizzes. Know your materials well and quizzes and tests shouldn't be a problem.
At first, dr bakhtiari was difficult. I was overstudying and not reading his slides. Once i started focusing on the slides and reading the book just on the slides, the quizzes became high B's and the subject became a lot easier! Focus on slides since the beginning and study study study! You will pass with an ease
He knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable teacher. I don't learn much in his lectures. HE jumps around alot and the class is 5 hours.each class you sit in is part of your grade. The way I studied for his quizzes and tests every week. was made outlines of his slides and then read the book with the slides to get the details. study slides! PASS!!
you must study if you want to pass his tests. make sure to look at both slides and book. his tests are moderate if you know the material. he always answers questions. pretty approachable
Dr. Bakhtiari is a great professor. I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures as they were well informed and thorough. His tests were challenging but fair. I would highly recommend this professor to anyone. One of the best professors I've had.
Dr. Bakhtiari was an amazing teacher. Yes he's monotone, but he's really knowledgeable about the subject, and is willing to answer any questions you might have. You have to read the textbook AND study the powerpoint slides. It seems hard, but It is a nursing program, so you shouldn't expect less.
Very knowledgable professor, but very monotone! Just study the slides and you will be fine. You don't need to read the book at all. His slides are clear and to the point, and his questions from the test are right from the powerpoint lectures.
Dr. B is a brilliant doctor but I didn't feel like I was learning much from him and mostly learned everything through the book and YouTube.
Dr. Bakhtiari is a smart guy, but that's the problem. He expects you to learn EVERYTHING. He doesn't really narrow topics down and makes the class harder than it needs to be. Instead of going over the important details, he goes over the entire power point. He says you can find all the answers in the powerpoint, but that's a lie.
Dr. B is a very intelligent professor. Although, you really need a good background on physiology, chemistry, and anatomy to pass this class. He is very helpful and will answer questions thoroughly. Review the powerpoint and use the book as a reference if you don't understand a topic in the powerpoint. Not an easy A, but it is possible to pass.
His tests are really hard you need to read the book and study the power point slides !
Dr. B wants you to learn everything; however, he answers your questions promptly in class or email. To pass class, you must read the textbook, and PowerPoint slides.
Dr B is a GREAT professor. I wanted to write this review after me and my fellow classmates were talking about how much his class has helped us (took it almost 2 years ago, we are now well into nursing core). He makes you learnstudy a lot, but if you work hard I promise it will benefit you through many of your classes. Thanks Dr B!
Type your lecture notes. Everything on the outline will be on the quiz. Only way to get an A is to read then test yourself with the outline. Make good notes based on outline so you can review those for the midterm/final (recycled quiz questions). He emails back quickly. Split your readings throughout the week. Pay attention in lab.
Some might say his lectures are boring but once you get passed that and really listen, you will learn so much. I love Dr. B. He is super intelligent. The way he explains things is deep and he understands the material very well! You have to read and understand the material to pass. Had him for two to three subjects.
Long lectures. He doesnt narrow down the topics. Class avg is 50%. He expects the students to read the book and study the materials on their own. Enough said!
the lectures cover everything in the book. Expect you to read the book in order to pass.
He is very knowledgeable and gives a lot of information, but his voice is very monotone, so the lecture can be verrry boring. You definitely stay for the full 5 hours. I didn't really read the book, except for here and there, but managed to do well by just studying the lecture slides. I could have done better if I wasn't dealing with some issues.
I took Dr. B for 3 terms in a row and I was always in awe with his knowledge. I got an A in all 3 of his classes so it is definitely doable. He truly cares about his students and emails you back instantly with any questions you may have. Studying is required but his outlines help tremendously.
Not my favorite professor. He's very soft spoken and dull, and just rambles on from PowerPoint without making any real effort to engage the class. His weekly quizzes are tough, a lot of memorization is needed. Not for the faint of heart!
Horrible professor. He has no organization and jumps from topic to topic with no real explanation. He expect you to know the chapters for the quizzes and sometimes he doesn't even cover them. Worst professor I've ever had.
He is amazing professor ever, well organized, love his class, read book and study guide and outline ,u will do fine.
Very challenging but in a good way. You just need to study not just the terminologies but also the clinical questions and the concepts and apply it to real life. If you missed anything in lecture, feel free to speak to him at his office, he's always willing to help. Really need to study hard before his exams.
I have him for lecture. He does tend to be dull during discussion but he answers your questions thoroughly. Honestly, people saying that they got low scores is because they didn't study well. Anatomy is hard!! But Prof. B made it sure we understood this. He gives study outlines every week. But read the chapters first, then go through the outline.
He makes complicated things simple. He is not a procrastinator and uploads our grades no later than one day. He is approachable. He loves to draw which makes lectures easier. He has outlines that can help students study. He gives advices too on how to study anatomy.
Very good professor. He may be a bit quite but he's gentle and kind. His exams are pretty tough but if you want to seek help, he's there for you.
"Expects you to read the book to pass his class" uhh... duh? Personally, Dr. B's class was dull, yes, but he obviously knows his stuff. If you put effort into his class, you will receive the grade you want. If you don't, then you won't. He explains things in a way you will remember and I appreciated how he tested us on the exams.
Dr. Bakhtiari is a smart, hard working, and dedicated professor. He always answers your questions regardless through email or in class. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. I really appreciate a professor like him.
His lectures are somewhat dragging, but I learned a lot from this Dr.B. It requires a lot of studying everyday and reading to do well on his exams, but if you put in the effort, you will get the result. He recycles questions on the Midterm and Final. Very open to questions and available after class. He is very soft spoken, but knowledgeable.
Extremely intelligent professor. He makes video lectures for micro which are not helpful. And instead of lecturing the entire class time, he makes you do the mastering assignments which are also not helpful. If he just lectured the entire time, his micro class would be better. Otherwise, he is okay.
Dr. Bakhtiari is the best. His lectures are very clear and he gives study guides for the test and he lectures covering every point. so if you take good notes, do his study guides and read the book you will pass without a problem. Anatomy is hard, its a lot of memorizing but he makes it manageable and you will come out of the class smarter.
Dr. B is a very knowledgeable instructor but, he gave me wrong advice on how to study for the exams, everytime. I was getting a very low C in the class up until the midterm. He told me several times to read everything from the book and look at the ppts last which only gave me fails. Finally, a student told me his tests are on the power points.
Dr. B is a very smart person but wasn't the best teacher, at least for me. He can be very monotone and there's nothing exciting about his class at all. He gives you outlines for exams but the content is a lot and you really have to read the book to pass his class. Being in class is unnecessary unless attendance is mandatory for your school.
Great Professor. He's very knowledgeable about the topics.
This term was awkward because our school implemented a blended system, so unfortunately it cut his lectures down by a LOT. I've taken him in the past and his lectures were amazing. Although he's a little monotone, he's super intelligent and approachable. He also gives STUDY GUIDES and provides recorded lectures. Weekly tests and online work!
I am surprised by some negative feedback about Dr. B. He is by far the best science professor I ever have. He is knowledgeable, and he expects you to study the materials and build the strong foundation. His lectures are amazing as he tries to explain the mechanism rather than reading the PPTs. You will learn so much from his lectures.
Dr. B is so intelligent and really explains and breaks down the material. I did really well in his class Bc he gives your the tools needed to succeed. If you put the time in and are eager to learn, he will set you up for success. I would absolutely recommend taking his class. Best science professor iv ehad at west coast hands down
Tests are based on lecture, you can read the book too but dont really need to. He is monotone, but theres worse. Beware of his tests! READ the question, its often unclear what hes trying to ask you, but its not impossible to get a good grade. Love how he actually READS and REPLIES to e-mails. Willing to help if you need it. Very sweet man.
Because of the blended courses implementation at West Coast, most if not all lecture material is supposed to be done online and not in class. His online lectures are super lengthy. They average about 1 hour for one chapter. Very monotone and goes in depth on material that is not even needed. He's very intelligent but doesn't know how to teach.
Quizzes are easy as long as you actually listen to his online lectures which are quite lenghty and really monotone. If you reinforce it with additional reading and completing the mastering assignments, you will pass for sure. He goes well by the syllabus and school rules so don't expect bonuses. What you invest is what you get.
great teacher
Dr. B is very intelligent and really cares about your learning! Yes, he is monotone but it's tolerable. At least he cares enough to post actual lectures which is amazing for somebody who has trouble learning just from the book. Had him for anatomy and now micro... Thank you, Dr. B! Will be taking him for patho as well.
I enjoyed Dr. Bahktiari's class. It is a blended course, so majority of the learning takes place online, and on your own. If you have trouble self-teaching, then this professor may not be for you. There is a test every class, and they're heavily weighted. He responds to emails fairly quickly and always willing to answer any questions/concerns.
Bak-t is the best. I learned so much from his anatomy lecture. He is very good at what he does and a very good instructor if you take the time to listen to him. He gives good examples and makes you appreciate what you a learning. He is extremely knowledgeable and a kind and gentle-spirited person.
I have to admit, his lectures that he posts online are lifesavers. He goes over the entire chapter and explains everything that you need to know. It's a full hour lecture not like 5 min brief video! Then, just read the book (if you want an A+), and you are good to go. I will definitely take him again for future courses.
Dr. B is great. A lot of information to learn, but he makes it easy to digest it. His lectures are amazing because he makes you understand everything he talks about. Quizzes are based on the outlines he provides and are easy to pass if you actually study. I haven't even read the book. Will definitely take him again.
He knows everything. Tests are simple questions but you need to study hard!
He takes off points for getting review/discussion questions wrong. Seems like he likes to embarrass students for not knowing what he didn't even teach us. He doesn't help much with the in-class assignments, so it's more like busy work. There is usually no time for him to lecture on even 1 chapter out of the 6+ we're supposed learn each week.
Great person, difficult teacher. Incorporating a lot of physiology into his class. Tests are every week and are #60 questions for the most part. All lectures are online and come in the form of a video. Theres a discussion and a few module assignments every week. Very tough graded, the test has questions mentions in the lecture and textbook.
Definitely a hard professor, first couple of weeks I was watching his videos and not doing well then I decided to stop and I started doing better. Take good notes on the powerpoint provided and read the book for clarification.
I'm currently in my last term of nursing school, but I had professor Bakhtiari for both Anatomy and Microbiology. I decided to come back and write a review because I truly believe that stuff I learned in this class set me up for success in nursingl! Listen to the lectures, Study hard, and do well on the tests, and you'll have a great foundation!!
I love Dr. Bakhtiari. He had so many great examples to help us understand the material. He is also a very good communicator, he constantly reminded us of our assignments due. He truly cares for the students' success.
Took his class online, and got an A! Grades based mainly on pearson hw (easy), complete anatomy lab online quizzes (easy), weekly discussions, weekly quizzes, and midterm/final. Quizzes based on super clear video lectures on blackboard and is a easy grader for discussions. Also really responsive to messages outside of office hours
Amazing class! You must take Dr. Bakhtiari for anatomy! In order to succeed, you must devote a lot of time to studying. The weekly quizzes are monitored and are mostly based on the lectures. Pay attention to the lectures and PPTs because he often mentions test questions. Also a lot of homework and labs but they help prepare you for the quiz.
great professor, would take again
easy hw, quiz every class has good lecture videos, what he teaches he tests on. no surprises. prepares you for lec quizzes right before quiz must have camera on very nice and helpful, responds quickly add question to discussion replies for full credit
Dr. Bakhtiari is very knowledgeable and will slow down and help students. For patho, we had a group presentation and paper and he gave us full credit as long as we turned something in. The quizzes and exams are just taken out of the homework questions so make you do all the homework. This class is an easy A, highly recommend.
HORRIBLE his tests are so hard and he does not tell you what to study i hate him
I took Micro online and found it pretty easy to understand. The virtual lab was easy, you can re-do it for full points, which is helpful. Overall not too difficult, but does require some effort to pass quizzes. The class wasn't as difficult as I expected, I recommend his online class.
Overall, pretty good professor. The tests are somewhat tough but if you study well, you shouldn't have a problem. His lectures are extremely long. he's monotone but that didn't bother me.
He did not give anyone in my class an A. Such a disappointment. The tests were absolutely confusing. Seemed like we did not learn anything that was on the test. He comes off as a nice guy, but I am confused as to why he doesn't want to see his students do well. The average on the final exam was a 37% which shows that no one knew what was flying.
I highly recommend taking his class if you want to fail!
He provides long video lectures and focuses exams on the small details of the videos. Understand the material, dont just memorize. Tough grader.
The class is tough and there is a lot to learn in a short amount of time. The online lectures are helpful, and the professor is very knowledgeable. However, the best thing you can do for yourself in this class it time management. make sure you have enough time to do every single assignment to get as many points as possiblel. good luck lol
Dr. B was a great instructor and was very patient with me. Our class was almost 7 hours long, two days a week for two months, which was exhausting and challenging in itself. I definitely recommend taking him in a normal-paced course. Overall, he valued students' participation, community, and kindness. He was well-loved by my class!
He give you all the materials to be able learn the subject very well. His lectures may not cover all the material but they go very in depth and allow you to gain a really good understanding. There is alot of assignments, you will self study a lot but his reviews help so much and he always answers any questions you may have. Tough but learned alot!!
He had bad study guides and had almost no real grasp on anatomy. He had to google the answers to questions he was even asking himself, or students were asking. The class is very disorganized, . I would not recommend taking him getting him to do anything is very difficult even with the entire class begging and asking and he has an big attitude.
Im currently taking his Anatomy class at LAVC. All i can say Dr. Bakhtiari is amazing professor. He is able to teach such heavy material very understandable. He provides great visuals which make it easier to remember the staff. I enjoy his online lectures and lab. Would love to take other classes with him.
Very great professor. Would take him again for another if I can!
He's a nice guy overall; however, he does not teach. You watch a minimum of 3 lecture videos weekly that are 40 min long. His tests are tough and confusing. Some of the things on the tests are from his lecture. The rest are things you may have not even heard of. Even if you put all of your effort in, you will probably just pass, not with an A
Dr. Bakhtiari is a great ANAT professor. His outline is incredibly helpful for studying, and his exams are fair, though some questions can be tricky. Take your time and read carefully. He's very approachable and willing to help. If you put in the effort and follow the outlines, you'll do great in his class! I would love to have him again for PATHO.
He is a good professor. Provides you with outlines for quizzes. It is hard to get meet him outside of class. Had an appt and he did not show up. Emailed about a make up date and he forgot. If you do put in the work and follow his outlines and lectures, Easy to pass.
