Definitely a good teacher, well organized.Goes over theory the first half of class, then problems.2 tests and a final. Were usually easy if you knew the HW problems and went over the concept questions he will go over in the class. HW is 25% of the grade so do it.Like Zabinski it is closed book/notes but there aren't that many equations to memorize
Really great professor who is willing to help anyone, but if you pay attention in class and do all the HW's then you wont even need help. He gives a lot of real world experience and uses it to reinforce theory in the book. Take him if you can. 10/10
Very bad
Not a good professor
Very cool prof. Very supportive for students.
Students that call him a bad teacher are the ones that do not participate in class. He is not afraid to call on students that are not paying attention, but loves to joke around if you are not. One of the best teachers in the engineering school, definitely need to take him. Very easy grader and is extremely involved with students getting jobs.
Cares about every student. Study homework and examples gone over in class and you'll do fine on the exams
His class is not bad at all. Sometimes it can be boring but he is a pretty easy grader and he wants everyone to do well. He will call you out for not paying attention but he'll also joke about it too. 2 Tests and a final exam but the questions are usually identical to the homework or sample problems from the book.
Don't take him. He is not fair.
Amazing professor, answers questions to best of his ability. 10/10 would recommend
Love him and the class. Teaches the material well and really wants you to learn it.
This professor does a really good job at giving examples in class and answering any questions. The textbook is required for class as well as tests and homework. Overall I would definitely take this professor again.
Love him and the class. Teaches the material well and really wants you to learn it. Definitely recommend him as a prof.
He is great at explaining the material but it is tough to understand if you miss class. You need the book because it is used every class but he makes the class interesting and puts everyday examples into the lectures. Great diagrams!!
Extremely easy to talk to. I took him for thermo 1,2 and Turbo Machinery. Great professor even though the classes are hard. He works hard to ensure students understand what is going on and are learning efficiently and thoroughly.
Dr. Etemad is a great professor who is very passionate and cares a lot about the student's learning. He makes good use of each class and explains problems, diagrams, and figures very well. The homework is very manageable and the tests are fair. I would highly recommend taking his courses.
Do not take his classes at all, does not know how to teach
Easily accessible outside of class. He wants all his students to do well. If you put the effort into the homeworks and class work, then you will do fine. His homework is manageable and his tests are reasonable. Make sure you bring your textbook to class everyday because he relies on it so heavily.
Class is challenging but professor works with students and is very helpful
Professor Etemad is a very good professor. He keeps the class engaged and makes sure that everyone follows how he solved problems. He is very accessible and is always willing to help you in whatever way he can.
He is a really good teacher, especially coming out of Dr. Zabinski's class you will really like his overall teaching style. In this class you can actually apply in class knowledge to the real world.
Overall Dr. Etemad is a good Professor. He relies on the text book every single class and expects you to read your notes before every single class. He wants you to be successful and learn the material. He is very easy to talk to and very easy to contact. If you put effort in the class and learn the material you will get a good grade
Does a lot of examples in class that get you ready for the exams.
Grandma loves him
Teaches out of the text book, tests are not hard but only a couple of questions.
2 Exams 1 Final No Projects or Essays Show up to class and pay attention and take notes. Homework questions and notes are pretty much the test questions. The materials are not that hard as long as you try. Easy A
Great guy, easy grader, attendance doesnt seem mandatory, but the lectures are key to do well in this class
Dr. Etemad is such a nice and funny guy. He is a fair grader and he teaches the material well. He is the chair of the Mechanical Engineering department and is very accessible and always willing to help. Awesome guy, would take again.
Nice professor, very cheerful, if you dont attend dont expect to pass, test comes from homework and examples taught at class
Great teacher cares about students
Dr. Etemad knows his thermodynamics. At times, the class can seem boring (which is why I personally started to do the homework during lecture). Don't bring your laptops or have phones out unless it is for the textbook. He is a fair grader but the homework does count. Always bring the textbook.
Great Prof. Cares about students and makes sure that the whole class understand. Very funny. Has a sense of humor for Borat and his brother Bilo.. Very Nice !!!!
Etemad is different from the other engineering professors in all the best ways. He genuinely cares for his students, gives insightful feedback, and is constantly trying to connect us with internships. Teaches in a way that's easy to understand and his homework, while tough sometimes, is never overwhelming. An absolute hero.
Overall Etemad is a great professor. He's great at explaining the material and does multiple in-class problems to make sure everyone understands it. The tests are actually similar to the homework and class problems and he makes it step by step to make it easier.
Dr. Etemad is a great professor. He really tries his best to help his students understand the material. Definitely take him if possible.
Great guy, Ill take him again any day
Fantastic professor and is one of the few who care about his students
Dr. Etemad really enjoys what he teaches, you can tell because he'll sometimes ramble about the topic. With that said, he makes it pretty clear what information is actually important. Tests can be a bit challenging just due to the fact that they're short so the problem weighs a bit heavier than you'd expect. Overall would take again!
Great professor makes class interesting and wants students to succeed
Great professor that makes the lectures simple and short. Focusing on the main topics and problems.
Meaningful and important lectures. Many in class problems which also help.
Dr. Etemad is an excellent professor. He goes over problems in class that are very similar to the homework and exams. The exams are very short, so each point counts. In addition, Dr. Etemad cares about the success of his students and is very friendly and approachable both inside and outside of class.
One of the Best engineering Prof. at Fairfield. It is clear that Prof. Etemad wants all of the students to learn. Tests are fair. Easy to ask questions in class.
Great professor. Actually cares about our learning. Work load is very manageable
Take any of Dr. Etemad class if you can. If you put in the effort you will get the grade that you want. Test and quizzes are always fair.
Dr. Etemad is a very fair professor. His lectures relate directly to the homework and exams. Homework assignments are short and reinforce the course material. His main goal is for people to understand the course material. If you study his in class problems and homework assignments, you will do well on the exams. Truly a great professor!
Dr. Etemad is a good teacher if you learn well by listening to lectures. I unfortunately do not so I had a harder time with the material. The class is complicated but if you work with others outside of the class it is manageable.
Good class lectures with great in class problems that resemble quiz/test problems. Very helpful both inside the class and outside the class. Not a hard class as long as you can follow along with the lectures and in class problems. And if you are struggling he is very accessible and ready to help you catch up. Cares and wants everyone to do well.
One of the best Engineering professors at Fairfield U. He makes concepts so easy and connects to real-life examples. He also has close experience with everything he is teaching so he always refers to his work and makes us understand the concept easily.
Get ready to participate in classes and don't be afraid to go in and talk to him about anything if youre struggling grasping something, I found that he explains things a bit better one on one rather than in lecture
Step by step example problems are done in class for every chapter. What is expected for quizzes and exams is announced beforehand. Dr. Etemad is also a very easy and fair grader.
He is a good professor he makes you learn
Etemad will take the time to help you learn. One of the best.
One of my favorite professors. Easy to understand and fun lectures that made you want to come to the next one. Very clear and concise in asking what he wants for exams and step by step solving in class helps understanding of material.
very approachable outside of class.
Great professor, teaches the students in an understandable way. Not much homework, quizzes instead of midterms. Willing to move quizzes and homeworks around student's schedules. Very approachable outside of glass.
Had Dr. Etemad for Thermo I and II- overall a great experience. Strengths include patience and accessibility. Encourages questions, never had a problem re-stating or re-wording something if asked. Sometimes moves a bit fast, just ask him to slow down. Manageable HW and quizzes, but quizzes are worth a lot and can be graded kind of sporadically.
No homework in Thermo class. Weekly quizzes (about 12-15 total). Some quizzes difficult others are easy. He is a fair grader and a greater teacher for lectures. Only suggestion is he is not as organized as I wish he was. otherwise no real complaintes. Also 1 final exam at end of the year.
He taught well classes were simple we normally went over a concept from the textbook, and then we would do some practice problems with it in class. About once a week we would have a quiz on one unit from the textbook besides, the only other grade is the final.
Professor Etemad is one if not my favorite teachers at Fairfield. I'm a Mechanical engineer and through all the professors I have taken, Professor Etemad is a breath of fresh air. His open classroom environment helps you understand the material very easily, and he will always ask if you are confused or stuck. He is willing to help no matter what.
There's a test almost every week but it keeps you on top of things
I like the class format. Weekly quizzes keep you on your toes and a final exam. Clear grading and open to questions.
Great teacher always looks out for his student's best interests and wants everyone to do good. Weekly quizzes and no homework. Truly one of the best ME teachers.
Super nice guy and his style of class worked great for me. During lectures, he would solve examples instead of lecturing. Quizzes every week so be prepared but they are fairly easy and help you learn better. Also doesn't give homework
Fair weekly quizzes, gives good lectures, gentle grader, smart fella 10/10 would etemad again
Great class great teacher. Understanding and works to make sure you do well. No tests no homework weekly quizzes. System worked great for me
Professor Etemad is a great teacher that helps understand the course material really nicely. Usually 1 quiz every week on the material learned from the past class but aren't too bad if you understand the concepts went over during that class.
Awesome Professor
Etemad is great, won't be disappointed if you put in some effort
Prof. Etemad is one of the best engineering professors at Fairfield. He usually gives a quiz every week or so that will be based on the previous classes material. They are super light if you study right after that class and leading up to the test. Take him wherever you can!
Great to have during later years since he knows more about graduation / registration as the chair
weekly quizzes, helpful in the classroom, and overall good guy. Material of the course by itself is hard so the course is tricky by default, but he helps you out a lot and always tries to make sure you understand it. Arguably one of the top 2 best engineering teachers at Fairfield and he's not 2.
Amazing Professor in our Mechanical Engineering Department. Quizzes every week that help you stay on top of yourself and are on what was taught in the previous class. Some homework but mainly quizzes. Knows real world applications of the subject and explains it very well. Great professor.
One of the best engineering profs at Fairfield. Quiz heavy but they are usually pretty easy and they help you study/ understand the material. Great lectures. Cares about his students and their success in his class.
Dr. Etemad is a tough professor but he respects his students and wants everyone to succeed. Wants all students to participate and learn the subject matter.
Very lecture heavy, a lot of equations to keep track of. Professor is very respected and puts 100% into making sure students understand the material
Good teacher and always willing to help. Very valuable person to have in your corner if you're a mechanical engineering major
Grade is mostly determined by semi-weekly quizzes
Dr. Etemad really cares about his students and wants them to do well. He cares about performance and wants you to be prepared for your future career in the engineering industry. The quizzes are challenging if you don't study and prepare.
Dr. Etemad has a very different but effective way of teaching, he doesn't have an overbearing course load, but is very good at providing ample examples of problems that are useful for quizzes. No homework, no finals, only quizzes and class participation, and he makes sure you keep up.
One of the better professors in the engineering department. Quizzes at the end of each topic learned, (weekly). The lectures were very useful, went over a bunch of problems that were similar to the quiz problems. Quizzes were 1-2 questions and a final at the end of the semester.
Fair. Remember to read the textbook and review notes before class. He does ask questions about the readings!
Dr Etemad is a great Professor and wants his students to do well. If you go to lectures and study from the textbook, you will do great in this class.
Dr. Etemad is a great professor. Lectures are split into new info --> examples so you learn new material but understand it. Has a great sense of humor and grading is fair. I thought thermo would be horrible, but it turned out to be my favorite class this semester.
Etemad is an understanding professor who is willing to work with students. Make sure you pay attention in class as everything is on the board and no slides are posted on blackboard.
I thought he was a good teacher very kind and willing to joke with you if you put the work in.
I enjoyed going to class. Quizzes can be tough but if you pay attention during class and take good notes you should be good. He gives partial credit too.
Lectures were long and sometimes a little uninteresting, however, no homework the entire semester beside studying for quizzes and tests/finals. I barely paid attention or studies and got 100's on most quizzes with very little effort. Just pay attention and if you don't understand ask which problems to review.
