Much easier than other Econ teachers. Doesn't take attendence- thats a plus!
Easy tests, difficult to understand with the accent
Pretty easy class.
easy to understand.
He is an easy teacher. He offers extra credit, the homework and tests are easy. Compared to all the other econ teachers, he is the best. He is the one to take for this class.
He is a good teacher, well-knowledgeable person, and he knows what he is talking about. His views to the economy are very good and able to tell how economic situations are. Deal nicely with students and the easiest among other teachers.
No homework except reading & 1-3 questions at the end of each chpt. Gives credit if questions are incorrect. For the test study his practice test he gives out, and the graphs in each chapter. Ask lots of questions and he will answer them. Nice man.
Good teacher.
Nice teacher, but not a very good speaker.
Funny. Good teacher.
He has a good sense of humor, but his accent sometimes creates difficulties understanding him. Assigns a good deal of homework, but is a liberal grader. Working with a private tutor will give you a boost and an edge on the other students.
He's a good teacher. Cares about his students. Everyone should take his class.
The class is very easy. Explains everything easy. If you keep up with the reading you will do well. I didn't even look at the book and I received a C. So if you want A, read and study.
i just loved hima nd his class, i think he is one of the best teachers out there. if you do your work an easy A is guranteed
i couldn't understand a word he said. had to drop the class.
Very good techer. nice format
Very nice and easy if you can understand him and read the miteral. I dropped class but i'm going to retake him.
Horrible teacher, i cant understand any word that he try to say it , if he like you he gana give you another change to make up your test, if he dont he gana said that its against the regulations..dont ever take this class with him!!!
He spoke in fragmented sentences, i couldn't comprehend what he was trying to say and teach his students. He is impatient, i regret not dropping his class. He is a rude little man who cannot teach this subject.Stay away!
Show up to class, do the homework and you can get an 'A' The tests are not too dificult.
Positives: Easy tests and an easy A, makes you laugh sometimes, notes are direct. Negatives: You do not really learn the subject that well, very low-key personality, classes feel too long sometimes.
Sometimes difficult to understand although he tries pretty hard to make sure people do. Do the reading before the lectures, take good notes, be on time and you'll do fine. Liberal grader.
he is very nice and his tests are hard if you don't understand econ but if you try and he sees that and maybe work the tears i had a D going into the final and got a D on the final and somehow got a C in the class.
If you're smart, take this class. Pay close attention on what he says, this will be very helpfull on tests. Gives a lot of opportunity to understand if you talk to him and request explanation. Use logic and you'll do fine. Do your assignments (20% grade)
I enjoyed the class, or should I say, the few times I went there.I got a B although I was rarely there. All you have to do is read the material, do extracredit, since he gives an opportunity for that. If I had done the homework I would have aced it.
Before taking this class, u should think about ur hearing. Tests will be little bit hard also, u have to do all assignments for A.
His class is really easy, easy A but his lectures are very boring and has a strong accent.Do your homework and read the chapters.I basically slept during his lectures but got an A.
I liked shahrokhi, he's got a weird sense of humor but he knows what he's talking about. Made econ easy to grasp for me.
THIS PROFESSOR SUCKS! AVOID TAKING THE MAN. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE FEEDBACK IS TERRIBLE! IF YOU TAKE HIM, YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!!
He's a good guy, although if english is a second language for you, I wouldn't advise taking him. If you can manage to understand him, which isn't all that difficult, he makes sense, and he's an all right teacher.
HORRIBLE!!! Besides the accent he says "Is that right?", "You know?" and "Uh" so many times I couldn't concentrate on the lecture!!!! I tallied uh's during class, instead of taking notes!!!
I found his manner of teaching confusing at times, but I really liked him as a teacher. He has a real good sense of humor and he really knows the subject matter. I found him to be very helpful if you just ask him.
Great teacher actually. I enjoyed his class because his tests are easy, and he is a very friendly guy.
he is a good teacher but his tests are so difficult and i don't think that he explains very well
EWWW! THIS MAN IS RIDICULOUS. THE TEST ARE OKAY, BUT OTHER THAN THAT TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER. TRY IRANI @ CUYAMACA 1ST. YOU WILL DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!
he's an okay teacher and yes, he does have a very thick accent. most of his homework was from his lectures, and i rarely had to use the book. but i still recomend the book because at times, he was slightly unclear.
he is a really good teacher. Economics is a hard subject for me but i managed to get an A out of the class. The homework is easy but the test require some thinking. Overall he was a great teacher.
WORST TEACHER EVER....SERIOUSLY! He enjoys seeing students fail. I took his class got a D.. retook the calss to get a better grade and he gave me another D in the class. He should be fired. Homework is easy.tests are hard and veyr tricky. if you do bad on his test you do bad in the class. Do youself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Dr. S was a funny guy but at times not such a good teacher. Homework was easy and test required a lot of effort. If you talk to him after class it helps. I had a C at the end of the semester and talked to him about and somehow he gave me an A. So in my eyes Dr. S is dope.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! I re-took this class to get a better grade. Prior to the final drop date, he told me "you will not pass this class." Sure I should have dropped, but I reallly thought I could pull it through. NOPE his grading system isn't acurate to what he has on his syllabas. The tests are OK, but over all, HORRIBLE,HORRIBLE!! DON'T TAKE!!
If you want to learn, don't take this guy. He can't speak english, doesn't take time to help his students, and doesn't teach the material. If he likes you, you have a chance. SERIOUSLY DON'T TAKE THIS GUY! YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT OVER, BECAUSE YOU WON'T LEARN ANYTHING AND YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HE SAYS ANYWAYS. TAKE MY ADVICE, DON'T TAKE HIM.
Yes he is hard, yes the class is demanding, yes the tests are unclear, yes you will struggle, yes you will get a bad grade
Find old examz....this is the only way u can survive and get a good grade...r u happy now?
Micro econ is a hard class, but this teacher makes it much more difficult. It is hard to understand him, he often bird walks onto irrelevent topics, and he doesn't spend enough time explaining the book. Tests are painful! The only good thing about his class is that he never takes role, but if you don't go, you'll fail undoubtedly.
very BAD teacher!! Dont ever take him!!!
BEWARE OF SHAHROKHI!!! BAD TEACHER! ECON IS DIFFICULT BUT HE DOES NOT HELP AT ALL. TALKS ABOUT NOTHING ALL DAY! BEWARE BEWARE
COMMON!He is not that bad. He is a very nice person, and he is very helpful. His tests are easy if you read the book.I'm taking him because my friends took his class before and they liked it a lot!
I was wrong!!Never take him.
Only take if you understand Economics really well. He doesn't help. I pretty much begged him to let me pass with a C, because I did all of the homework and did not miss a class. At least he gave it to me. Can't complain about that. But he didn't explain things well at all. I even sat in with a tutor and she didn't understand his material.
you know what? this teacher is great!he talks the material so clear that we can easily understand.and he answers any questions you ask clearly in the class. four exams and 2 paragraphs for PE week.you definitely shoule take him!
Not that bad of a class. Can be hard to understand with his accent, but he's a decent teacher. Grade is based on 4 tests and 2 write-ups on P.E. week, with a little e.c. offered.
smart but can be an ****. very boring...must read book because his lectures dont help. i passed with a C
His lectures are not very clear and there is little explaination on homework. I had a 4.0 in my college courswork before taking this class and getting an "F." I re-took the class from a different professor and learned a lot and got an "A."
Thick accent, might take a few weeks getting used to. Very smart man, and will help with questions after class, but all the tests are multiple choice so there's really no leniency. No cumulative final, only four tests. Has an amiable disposition.
Decent prof. Not the easiest to understand b/c of his accent. Grade based on 4 multiple choice tests.
I found a cure for insomnia, this class. Kinda hard to understand but sure knows his stuff. I just couldnt stay awake to learn it
Dr. S. is a very nice man. Yes, he has an accent but his lectures are clear and the reason many students got bad grades is because they didn't study hard enough. His tests are much more reasonable than Bishawi or Myers and he's very helpful. All you need to do is show some interest and quit being a whiney. remember there's is no free lunch!
The class is based on 4 M/C tests, with 22 questions. Relatively easy if you study and understand the material. E/C are writing about political/economy week. Homeworks are easy. Don't take Aplia, it's a waste of money and time, just do the end of the chapter questions. Difinitely an easy B but if you work a little harder, an A is not impossible.
I would not recommend this teacher. He is very hard to understand and very unclear. I like economics but not this teacher. Avoid him if you want a good at getting a good grade.
He has a CRAZY grading system. All tests and HW is heavily weighted. 4 tests worth 20% each and all HW assignments throughout semester is worth 20%.
He's a good teacher, but at times can be difficult to understand. He doesn't really explain what will be on the tests. And the tests are pretty hard. The class average was usually a c or d on tests. I got a "b" but had to work my ass off for it!
Reading the text is necessary to do well on the exams. His lectures are not very helpful. He calls names "at random" to answer questions in class. He has his favorites and seems to pick on students (especially if you sit in the back). The class isnt difficult if you are good at being self-taught.
This class is silly. There are 4 test and although the aplia homework was easy.....this class bites! I couldnt understand what he was saying half the time.
he is the worst teacher that i ever had. speak his fukin strange English, HW are useless, i couldnt understand wht he said in class. he is suck!
I'm very disappointed in the level of teaching. His lectures come straight from the book, which under normal circumstances isn't a bad thing....but the book that was assigned did not have all the formulas that we needed on the tests. WHY would he assign a book that assumes we already know the formulas if it's for an INTRODUCTION course?!
Mr. Shahrokhi is the best economics teacher at grossmont. The people that are complaining here are the same people that don't pay attention and they dont do their homework! I'm so glad they drop the class because they are so rude and don't let people that actually pay for their college learn..
Good teacher. A lot of international students take this class. Pretty easy. If you mess up there is very little room to recover, so pay attention all semester long.
Good teacher. Calls on you in class, but you don't necessarily have to know the answers. 4 extra credit points available, homework isn't hard, and he helps you understand the concepts well. The tests can be tough, but come straight from lectures. pay attention! dont need 2 read.
Very intelligent professor. I enjoy every single class and never missed one. Lectures are clear and straight to the point. He gives you a lot of handouts with specific economic situation related to the chapter. Presents economics in clear and easy to understand way. Recommend!!! Manuchehr.
Strongly recommend him. He is very intellegint professor, his lectures are very clear and right to the point. Best Econ Prof. at Grossmont college.
He really tries to get everyone to understand, although his attempt is unsuccessful. Tests are difficult, i study and read but only get C's on the tests. He's a nice guy though and i didn't hate his class. It was just more difficult than i anticipated. Read before lectures, and don't miss class
Awesome professor!! He is very intelligent and smart. His lectures are right to the point. Pay attention in the class and study hard for the tests. You will do fine. Those who have post negative comments about him they?re lazy and want to get an A without any hard work. Take this professor and you will be amazed how much you will learn.
Great professor!! Very smart and intelligent, know that lazy students have nothing else to do but complain.
I like Shahrokhi...he means well. He has a fairly heavy accent, and I think I do well with accents. He can't seem to understand simple questions. He is a pretty tough teacher, but he thinks he's easy. There isn't homework, but it definitely hurts you more than it helps.
Very unclear, scattered lectures. I'm a straight-A student and got a C in the class. He refused to help us review prior to tests, and was not helpful at all, very rude. Had a demeaning attitude and expected us to know everything, although it's an intro class. The worst teacher I've ever had.
He is not that bad. People who complains about him are just lazy. Just read the book and you'll do fine. Exam questions are straight from the book. It's an easy class. I learned a lot, too. If you're a student who likes to learn, then this class is for you. If you're a slacker, I recommend going back to high school.
Great Prof. very knowledgeable and has a passion for his craft. Must attend every lecture to be prepaired for the exams. Gives a practice quize for each section (most test questions from these quizes). This class is definitely not for the lazy. Read the book, go to class and you'll do fine!
People who complain about him are just lazy. If you attend class & take notes u will be fine. I didn't even read the book. If u read the chapter prior the class meeting you are in perfect shape. There are 4 exams each worth 25%. No comprehensive final or anything like that. Dont blow an exam cuz there is almost zero chance to earn extra credit :-)
Dr. Shahrokhi is a great instructor. He is very hard. You get some easy ones and you get some harder ones. that's just how it goes. Tests are semi hard. Read ch.'s BEFORE class to have a better understanding of lecture. Trust me that will make all the difference for you in his class. He lectures and expects you have some knowledge of econ alrea
He is a very good teacher and is very dedicated to his job but it was very diffcult understanding what he said. Also, sometimes it sounded as if he was contradicting what the chapter said!
Shahrokhi is uninspiring. He asks ambiguous questions and seems condescending when students can't answer them. He lectures from the textbook's slides, not his own, skipping around and not giving enough time to copy things down. He's unnecessarily strict. I don't feel like I learned Economics to any satisfactory degree.
Bad teacher. Don't take him. He is hard to understand and he is pretty disorganized. He stuffs all his papers in one folder and then sorts through them in class. He is very knowledgeable about economics, but it seems like the subject would be better taught by someone else...
Didn't like the class too much. He is kinda inconsistent but everything is from the book. Outline it and you're good. Show up to class as he is strict on attendance but class was nap time to me everyday and I got an A. GET THE BOOK!
As an international student, i highly recommend him. He is very helpful. The class is easy.
I took his Econ 120. No homework. 4 Exams and 2 easy reports. You can get extra points if you write 2 more reports. Sometimes I can not understand very well, but overall he is nice teacher.
He is hard to understand. He has a thick accent. Only 100 pts available in the class with 4 tests and you have to attend political science week where you have to go to 2 classes and write 1/2 page report on each class you attended and you don't get points towards your grade, it's mandatory. 5 xtra points to write 2 xtra reports
I took his Econ 120 class and struggled with it. he doesn't assign any hw and the only grade you receive are based off test scores. so if you are not a good test taker like me i would not recommend him.
His explanations are okay but his accent may bother a lot of people. Every time I ask him any question about economy he always says "why ask me that, it's easy" and suggest he jump off Coronado Bridge if the class doesn't get what's going on in lecture. Overall don't expect any true help from him, Read and study the text book carefully.
He was the hardest teacher I have ever encountered!! The class lingo is basically set up for Business / Accounting majors and those of us who are there because of a requirement are often lost. Hardest class ever.
Shahrokh is not a good teacher but I found his econ 120 class incredibly easy. He has an accent so it's kind of difficult to understand him at times, but it didn't matter since I was always playing angry birds during the lecture. If you read and outline the chapter, you should be able to score well on the exam
He isn't as difficult to understand as people make it seem here. I had no knowledge of economics or interest prior to this class, and with his lectures and reading the book I got an A. Your grade is based off of 4 exams, so it's very difficult in that respect. He's a great teacher, just don't expect to get an A without effort.
The class would not be that bad if it weren't for your entire grade being based off only four tests... The material is pretty basic, not difficult if you attended classes. He reads off powerpoint but not really TEACHES it to you, you kinda have to figure it out yourself. Bottom line: I would never take him again unless I'm extremely desperate
This guy doesn't really knows what is he talking about! I wasted my time taking his class, and because of him I start doing rate my professor thing so I cannot run across another idiot like this guy.
Bad teacher I will never ever take him again even if I know i'll go out of the state or country!
He has a Phd in Economics & knows the subject very well but he is a hard teacher. Not a basic class AT ALL. I am BEYOND shocked that I managed to get a B+ in his class. It was the most stressful Intersession course. I put in A LOT of effort, more than I thought I ever could & left understanding the subject but was in a panic majority of the time.
He's not very nice at all. Doesn't explain things well.
By far, the worst teacher I've had. You can barely understand him, he goes over things so fast to try to get it all done, but I had no idea what the heck he was ever saying. Just because someone knows Econ, doesn't mean they can teach it. He's not a nice guy at all and not a good professor either. I strongly suggest you not taking him.
By far the worst teacher i've had in college. His quizes that are completed in class are completely different then the actual test that are worth a grade. He is very unclear about every topic and skips over multiple sections in notes and then will test you on them. everyone in the class has taken his class multiple times. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS !
Overall, he's a nice guy but his teaching sucks. I would not recommend him.
Took his class in the spring. Textbook is very important. We had weekly online quizzes and our grade was on 4 exams. He offers extra credit on political/economics week. It was a stressful class. I didn't score above a 76 on the exams and still got a B. Take good notes!!!!
I was a little nervous to take him at first, but he explains everything you need to know to pass. He gives in class quizzes that do not matter for your grade but help you prepare for the test. If you take notes and listen to his lecture you can get an A. I took the extra time to read the book and do some homework problems. He is not a bad teacher.
Do not agree with most reviews here. This was my first class back after many years. Yes the work was tough. Yes the test were tough. It is after all learning. If you want help he is available. I loved the quizzes they did help me on the test. It is true none of the questions were on the test. I didn't expect a free ride. I did learn econ
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He has a powerpoint every class, goes through it VERY FAST & skips slides. It's really hard to follow what he's saying and understand what he's talking about. He gives in-class quizzes (that don't impact your grade) to help study but they are not on the test so it is pointless. His tests are very hard. DONT DO IT.
He was the worst teacher I've had at Grossmont after 2 years of being here. Extremely hard to understand. Seems uninterested to help anyone learn. Goes through powerpoint slides way to fast. If you don't answer a question in the exact words he wants, he will say you are wrong. No cushion points. 3 exams + the final. He gives no study guide. AWFUL.
Tests are very tough, have to apply concepts. Was difficult at first to understand what he was saying because of a thick accent. No homework. Gives quiz every class and those combined are "study guide". Reading the book is necessary. All powerpoints. Never felt confident on the tests. Most of the class seemed unsure of what test would be on.
Seldom heard from instructor directly Did not activate the discussion board This would have helped students Provided brief summary to introduce the chapter Posted a video now and then Online test time was too short HW problems did not match textbook examples HW score was average of 3 tries not best score Did not like Cengage software
Personally he was hard to understand, and did not explain the material well at all. Whenever anyone would ask a question he did not really seem to explain it so the student would understand. Instead he would repeat what he said to begin with instead of trying to say it in a different way so the student could understand.
Basically all you do for credit is take tests but if you show up you'll easily pass if you're intelligent enough to grasp the material as he lectures about it. I barely ever went to class and still got a B.
Professor Shahrokhi's Economics course was definitely a tough class as far as Econ classes go. Only 4 tests in the semester, each 25 points. He offers two chances of extra credit to help if you don't do well on the tests. Must attend! Lectures are long and everyday he gives you a worksheet with questions to answer in class. Have to work hard!
She does not respect her student's time. I took her online course because I am a young adult with three jobs and I don't have time for a set class schedule now. No less, she opens her exams less than two hours prior to the time they're due. Additionally, the tests and their wording don't correspond to the material, so they are very confusing.
I don't know why these people are so tough on this professor. Sure he doesn't want you to talk during his lecture and wants everyone to be respected but that should be expected in all classrooms. I've taken a regular class with him and an online for economic classes. They were great! A lot of the grade is formed by tests but he is very fair!
He has a good attitude and gives great examples of the material in class. His major downfall is that he does a terrible job really describing concepts in a way students understand. Furthermore, the questions in the quizes are worded very differently from the book and lecture. In the end you better read the book and teach yourself if you want to pas
Unfortunately this professor made it very hard to enjoy and learn much in the class. I have all resources, such as text book and power points, but when a student tries to ask a questions, he never seems to explain it clearly. he repeats what he originally said and doesn't make sure the student understands before moving on. Seems reluctant to help.
Amazing professor with a good sense of humor. However, if you want to pass, you need to show up, take notes, and probably skim the book. He's going to make you work for your grade... but if you don't want to work, then don't go to college? If you have questions you can't be afraid to ask.. he can be intimidating but he's a really nice guy.
Can't teach in his class , you honestly have to read the text book if you want to do good in his class . But he won't tell you that . He jokes with everyone saying "i'll see you next year", as if he knows he can't teach .
He is not always very clear, and he can be very curt at timeds. No homework, so you had better pass your tests, and take advantage of what little extra credit there is. LEARN THE FORMULAS!!! Do not miss more than 2 days in class, or he will threaten to drop you.
Honestly, I did not like this class at all. He is very confusing. He would say something in lecture and test you on something completely different in the exams, which what your grade is based on. His exams were confusing and worded weirdly. AVOID! I worked very hard and barely got through. Its not worth the stress and anxiety
I took ECON 120 online and he was the professor, so if you have a real class with him your experience may be different but I wouldn't count on it. He is very vague, doesn't really explain much on assignments. Most emails I sent were answered by single sentence responses, which were also very vague. By far one of the worst professors I've had.
He missed two classes during one unit and then wondered aloud why our test average dropped from the last test. He's always late and his grading system makes it very difficult to get a good grade. He was a last resort for me because there were no other econ classes open. Now I know why.
Was typically late to class and did not post grades. He would also give very small, unhelpful answers when emailed. Typically interrupted other students when asking questions or answering, cutting them off before they had chances to explain their answers. The grade part was the worst. I was 3/4 of the semester and did not know my grade. Don't take
"Welcome to Econ 121 online class. If this is the first time you are taking an online class, I trust that you are going to have a positive experience. I have tried to make this class simple and student friendly as far as its online structure is concerned." This statement in regards to his online class is a joke. Text will not help you on tests.
Be aware and do not take this course by this professor! This was by far the most frustrating online course I have evert taken! The textbook doe snot help you on the practice work or exams which is ran by a program called aplia. And most frustrating of all, all exams are set to specific days (understandable) but only at a specific hour!?
I've taken both his online and in-person Econ classes. He is a FAIR grader, meaning he will change your score if need be, but he won't bump your grade because he likes you. If you read the textbook, you should ace this class (an 87 is an A, which is more than fair). His lectures aren't that great, but if you read, you can take it easy in class.
super bad teacher, kinda pretentious, and hard to understand at times. Your grade is 100% exams and he doesn't use blackboard. Definitely try not to get this dude definitely not chill lmao
You have to get used to him, but he's a good, hard-working teacher who genuinely cares. His tests are the only thing that make up the grade. It's straightforward. If you work hard you can get a good grade.
DO NOT take his online class, the power points he provides are irrelevant the course's homework and exam problems. YouTube was the only thing that I could use to better understand the homework. The 6 week course had 3 exams but were only available for 1 hour and 15 minutes at a certain time of the day which does not make sense for an online course.
I didn't really believe the ratings, thinking "how hard can a CC online class be?". The book has nothing to do with the online assignments. He uses an expensive platform that does not help you learn. You can tell the professor is really not interested in his students' success. I took another ECON class with a different professor and was far better.
AVOID! rude, short with students and very hard to understand. His English is VERY bad. He also confuses the material in his own brain, then teaches it incorrectly! Interrupts students when they try to ask questions. Abrasive and rarely smiles. Litereally one of the worst teachers I have ever had. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT TAKE!
Unresponsive, unhelpful, leaves you to fend for yourself. Online book and hw don't match. I missed my final exam and he said that he couldn't do ANYTHING about it. Once I talked to the head of department, he quickly changed his mind & said that he wanted to do another option the entire time but didn't hear from me and considered the case closed.
Kind of boring. But easy course to pass even if you don't do well on the assignments.
- Provides no assistance with course material. Notes provided do not correlate with textbook. - Requires you to use Cengage (Aplia) which costs $119 for 4 months, even though the course is 22 days long. - Grade weight was 75% for assignments and 25% for exams with only 3 exams. Assignments harder than multiple choice exams. - Cannot email well.
Teaching style poor, no people skills. Lack of emphaty and care for students. He carry an arrogant and despicable attitude. He refuse to provide study guidelines. He live in his brain. No interest in student learning and expanding knwolege. He would do only the minimal to help you out even if you express concerns. Desorganized.
Honestly, one of the best. Show up, listen to him, and participate. He explains economics in a way that truly makes sense, and he will prepare you for the tests that he gives. Grade is made up of tests only. If you show up, listen, and try, you will do well. Took for both my semesters of economics!
This is the worst professor I have ever had in my whole life. He slapped my doctors note out of my hand and told me he didn't want to hear my excuse. He treats his students with no respect.
I have never met someone who rude. He told our whole class we were unintelligent because we all bombed the tests. HE DOESN'T TEACH ANYTHING THATS ON THE EXAMS
I would not take a class again with him. With graded discussions, he would care more about us not writing that much than us providing an adequate answer. Furthermore, his corrections were just inaccurate and based on his own beliefs. He barely made contact with us to ensure we were learning the material. I feel like I taught this class to myself.
Discussion boards, although you may answer his question its like playing politics where he will challenge your answer by adding his own opinion and with that he goes about how he grades it. Be aware he has a paywall of $160 for his homework. If you want to see the material and be able to submit it he forces you to pay for it.
I took his online 8 week course and it was pretty easy as there was only 2 assignments a week. Throughout all 8 weeks my grade on Canvas was an A until one day he told me that wasn't my grade and that I have to calculate my own grade??? turned out I had a C that whole time. I got my first C on my transcript because of him.
Never in my life have I had a worse teacher. Lectures were very boring and monotone. The grades were based off 4 tests, in which little to none of the material that is taught is on the test. Please trust me on this and never, I mean NEVER choose this professor.
Worst teacher. Don't even bother reading reviews you'll regret it the moment you start the class.
Terrible
This class is graded in a tricky way. 75% of your grade is from exams and 25% is from classwork, but the catch is it's not updated like that, one moment you're in the clear the next you didn't pass and it's too late to do anything. I would not recommend this class as an online class unless you like to read and know that you will be on your own.
Assigns a lot of work each week. I was also taking other college courses but the workload from this class was almost unbearable. You also need to pay for the online course in which you need to access the textbook and assignments. Strict grader and does not offer any second chances to fix your grade.
Do not even bother attempting any classes with this professor. only graded on 4 exams and 1 extra credit opportunity for 2.5 points. There's no homework, quizzes, or his slideshows posted on Canvas. You basically have no outside material to use and are better off studying out of the book like I did. Don't waste your time with the worst professor
Not the best, not the worst. No recorded lectures. Followed online purchased textbook. This was 8 week intercession. Bit of a stickler with discussion board grades, but offered one large XC opportunity that was easy, and last DB was optional for those with higher grades so I consider that XC because I did it and it helped offset my Bs on tests.
Nearly self-driven course with the absurdity of paid online automated homework with minimal to no interaction with the professor. In fact, I've personally only had very short, unpleasant interactions with him. He showed little interest towards my questions, as well as no leniency towards the absurd online automated grading system. Do not take him.
Never choose this guy to be your professor, the worst choice i have done. Lecture was awful with nothing but only exam. Other than that, an inappropriate video of a woman was posted in the canvas with the powerpoint too. Uncomfortable and awkward, dont even know who qualified him to be a professor.
Professor Shahrokhi's ECON121 class can be challenging, but Unstuckstudy proved to be a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Expect limited interaction with the professor.
Despite this online course being easier than most, he does not regard your responsibilities outside school and is very strict about deadlines.
today is the first day I am enrolled and straight away I find out that I have to pay $135 dollars just to access assignments, the textbook, etc and Its only a rental for the ONLINE book?? I cannot recall anywhere that it said in the course description that I had to pay for a textbook let alone homework?? DO NOT take this class.
Only 4 assigments in the gradbook the whole semster and they are tests so literally every test including the final was 25% of your grade. Most boring waste of my time ive ever spent in a class
never had a prof that absolutely did not teach a single day before lol, u "learn" by reading the book. I don't know how he sounds, looks, or how to pronounce his name. Anyway, exams r not hard, and are basically open internet. homework is tough and tedious, but if you focus it wont be too bad. Super easy class, but he shouldnt be paid for teaching.
Shahrokhi is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He is the only professor that I have ever had loose one of my exam's and then tell me I never took it. I had to rely on having my classmates tell him I was there that day, for him to realize his mistake, which he never took accountability for, never apologized, and made me retake the exam.
donot take is class he is a bad teacher. belive me
