Towfighi is a great teacher and manages to make a boring subject interesting with humor and examples. Take Towfighi if possible!

Absolutely horrible topic, but Towfigi is excellent in making it manageable. Does not make you buy a book and his tests are based off of his homework. He has a great sense of humor and makes you want to go to class.

I would recommend you to take the ECON-E 201 class, because he is really easy. If you take the class on summer would be much easier.

Most entertaining teacher I've ever had! Doesn't sacrifice usefulness of lessons though, which makes him an all around great prof. No book required, allows a cheat sheet on tests..lessons are boring but he knows how to relate with humor. Take Towfighi!

Wow, probably the coolest professor ever. Allows a cheat sheet on all tests, enjoys teaching, makes learning statistics an enjoyable experience. You don't need the textbook, he's actually made his own notes for this course (they're very detailed and helpful). He's very smart, very funny, and always wiling to explain the material.

He is so helpful and so funny in class. There is homework after every chapter but he allows you to turn it in when every you want, then he gives you the answers to them. The tests are exactly the homework questions, so easy A :)

This class was actually a pleasure to be in. The professor is very intelligent and even more interesting. His stories are hilarious and really help to clarify material that can be difficult at times. His exams are extremely fair, and the homework problems help prepare you really well.

what an amazing teacher. he is funny, interesting, knowledgeable, and he loves to rag on his friends from Iran. I took this class over the summer, so attendance wasn't mandatory, but it is so refreshing to hear a teacher this enthusiastic about supply/demand that I probably wouldn't've missed a class anyway. hw is tougher than tests.do them and A+.

Overall, probably the best choice for the class. However, he usually made coming to class uncomfortable, spending half the class making sure students seemed "awake enough". Would often ask students why they got bad grades on the tests in front of everyone. Felt like a middle school class sometimes, but easy enough so I guess I can't complain.

I had him for E270 and E470. He likes to get to know his students and was always very helpful.

funny old guy, do not use text book, so it saves you money. Few homework and not hard if you listen in class. He also curves the departmental final which would make your grades look better

I took this online. He doesn't use a textbook, which is nice. He provides all lecture videos, which are really in depth and help a lot. The exams aren't too bad, but he doesn't give a very big time period to get them turned it. The only really negative thing I have to say is his communication kinda sucks. Good luck getting hold of him.

I wish for any one who want to take E270 in the future, just take it with him. He is the best

The final is curved which helped me get a B in the class instead of a D. The final was hard, but it helps to have 4 pages of notes to use during the final. He was also hilarious during class!

Shah does not use a text book. His class is based on his notes which are available on his website. This is a difficult class but he makes it easy. Tests are based on the homework except the final which he curves anyway. I would definitely recommend this instructor.

He is very witty and loves to keep it light and joke around. I took summer class. best decision ever!! Easy A+! He really cares sincerely about the students interest levels. His lectures and class notes were well organized and usefull for homework. You MUST have an understanding of using excel or this class will be 10x more difficult.

This class was pretty time consuming but easy and let us use 3 page cheat sheet front and back for final!!! which is awesome for all the formulas!

This class is Math for Economists, and goes through some high level math topics. It is intended for graduate students but is available for undergrad. Towfighi is great as always, but the material gets very difficult. If calculus isn't your thing, you will probably struggle. Highly recommended if you are thinking of graduate economics programs.

very caring & funny person. Show him respect & you will find why he is most recommended Econ prof on campus. Class will be easy in the beginning but will start getting hard during end chapters so pull as much as point as possible in the beginning.

A hard class. If you have not taken calculus or were shaky in E270 then you might have a hard time. Overall it was a good class and Prof Towfighi was very knowledgeable and helpful. Was kind of heavy-handed on using Excel versus going over theory and concepts, but it was still ok. Can move at a quick pace at times and hard homework, but still good.

This is the best professor you can have for statistics. Don't be intimidated by people who say statistics is hard. Not with this guy. Just follow the formula that you have on your cheat sheet WHICH HE ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE! No textbook required, just show up to class, do hw, study, get an easy A+ and perfect on the final.

By far the best teacher for statistics at IUPUI! I took the same class with another professor for a few weeks and Stowfighi made 10X more sense than the other professor. He is sub nice and cares about his students. CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR!

This is a class that I was not looking forward to, but now, I look forward to going to this class every day! He is an awesome teacher and spends a lot of time doing examples that are very similar to what are on the exams and homework. He makes it all so easy and he is a very engaging and funny professor.

If you're going to take Econ-270, take it with this professor. Trust me, I've taken the course with another professor and had to withdraw last minute. But I took it with Towfighi this semester and I understood the material 100%. One of the best professors at IUPUI. He knows how to teach.

Knew everything in the class already due to prior knowledge of the material. Still gained a lot because he had us use Excel a lot, which made the class very rewarding in learning a vital tool for the real world. Fantastic professor, one of those guys who you wish could teach all your math classes.

This class is not hard at all if you just go. If you do the homework and put the homework on the cheat sheet he allows you, then there should be no reason you don't get a hundred on every test. Its exactly the same with different numbers. Taking online would be more difficult as he gives solid examples in class. He is always glad to help as well.

He's a good entertainer, that's for sure! He's pretty clear on what to expect on tests. Overall not a bad professor.

Mr. Towfighi is a helpful professor who is willing to assist students during office hours. The course is challenging - I took it online, and I wish that I would have taken it in class. I ended the course with a B+, but I had to use the MAC constantly throughout the semester. My advice - stay away from online, and be diligent about the homework. :)

I love this professor. He is so funny and his lectures are really clear and easy. He's test are not hard. He give many practice files, if you do them before the test and understand them (or write them on the cheat sheet, which is approved by him) you will be fine.

He is so funny and really makes sure you are understanding the material. If you come to class, pay attention, and do the homework you should walk away with at least an A or B. He really is great and you'll regret not taking it with him!

He is absolutely amazing! What I liked most about him is he truly cares about the success of his students and he makes the subject easy enough as to where a middle schooler would understand and pass. He is extremely hilarious therefore making class enjoyable! He is also fairly lenient if he knows you are trying. Wish he taught all my classes.

This is the best professors I have had at IUPUI. Definitely hilarious. I would recommend going to all the classes because he does not take attendance, but gives a little extra hint during class. Looking at his syllabus, you'd think you would be in for the worst class ever. SO WRONG! I had him from 6-8:40 at night but I loved Shah, he made class fun with many jokes, and he really does care about your success. He always says "just plug the numbers into the formula" and he is not wrong! Hard material, but easy to learn with him.

A prereq was m118 and I had never taken that going into e270, but I passed that class with a breeze. He is so caring and plugging in numbers does work. He allows a cheat sheet and 2 on the final, so there is no reason to get a bad grade on anything. One of the best profs.

AWESOME PROF, one of my favorites to IUPUI. Literally just show up to class, pay attention to his semi boring lectures - he makes them funny because he wants you to learn and pay attention. If you don't show up, you'll do bad on hw and there isn't many grades in the class.

Although it's difficult to get a straight answer out of him because he thinks it's easy enough to figure out on your own, he is an all around great professor. There is a lot of homework and exams, and the exams are only 20 points each. He's not a very nice human but is a great professor if that makes sense..? Would definitely take again with him.

Towfighi makes the lectures more understandable by adding humor. While he is a bit scatterbrained, he is extremely knowledgable about statistics. I would recommend! He allows you to use a 1 page "cheat sheet" on every test! Very easy if you take good notes. If you are offended by cursing, DO NOT take this professor.

He was a great professor to have for Econometrics! I took this class the semester after I completed his E270 course. He is very willing to help you understand the content outside of his class. You need to do the homework to do well on the tests. Tests weren't too difficult, and he gives extra time to complete them. I would really recommend.

If you go to class, pay attention, and take notes you will do fine. He likes to seem a little intimidating at first but he's a really nice guy. Pretty funny and entertaining in his lectures also.

I am horrible at math, and thats an understatement. He was thorough, paced the class depending on where he felt the class was at, and he was willing to answer questions/go back over things/be accessible outside of class to answer questions. He made the material understandable and was hilarious while teaching it.

The class consisted of 7 chapters, make some friends. If you attend class and take good notes or know how to utilize excel, you'll do well come time for the exam. He allows you to use your notes for the exam so they'll come in clutch. Attending class is helpful for the homework and he will meet with you outside of office hours if need be.

Great online professor. His lectures are recorded so you can follow along and do the notes at your own speed. Everything online is through excel and is open notes so it's easy. He did put the class on blast after everyone did bad on a test but if you watch the lectures and do the hw before 9pm the night it's due you'll be fine.

Prof Towfighi's class is difficult, but attending the lectures really helps. He grade by only his tests and homework, but the tests are open book on Excel which makes everything much easier. He makes class interesting and his lectures are packed with important information.

All the exams and quizzes are open note which is very helpful. No meeting times just saved lecture videos. He doesn't explain every question on the hw in the lectures google is usually pretty good at filling in the blanks. It is very possible to get an A. Do yourself a favor and take it online so you won't HAVE to sit through hours of lectures.

Professor Towfighi, allowed me to complete this class after having to go on military orders. The assignments are straight forward and the class can be easy if you watch the lectures.

Overall, Professor Towfighi is a solid choice. There is a lot of Homework in this course, thus I would not recommend taking it during the Summer semester. If you are not doing well in ECON 270, I won't recommend you to take this course because it is an extension of it, and it is Math heavy. This is not an easy course, but we learned a lot.

Homework isnt bad only thing I hated was tests were from 8pm-10pm it was different for each class but the times were firm. Very understandable tho the video lectures were too long and confusing had to teach myself but wasnt bad.

Easy A class. You have one homework assignment and one test per week. Just watch the videos and you'll be fine
