Good instructor, but hard person to understand. Exelent teacher for the high level classes. However he is to hard on prep class students. If you not count the Tests classes are fun:)
help, what did he just say? very diffuclut to understand the course because of the accent.
Very funny! Uses real world examples. Open book/note tests!
He may be fine for an advanced honors course, but is way way too difficult for the average student taking his classes. He is also very difficult to understand.
Innovative, entertaining instructor. He has high but reasonable expectations, so don't take him if you want to be spoon fed. Take him if you genuinely want to work and learn. He recognizes effort and will take into consideration when grading.
Difficult class but if you study you'll do fine. Accent is a little bit tough to decipher at first. Overall really decent class.
Very informative but rushed. Covers material quickly and expects everyone to understand examples the first time. Loves to give quizzes and test. Forget getting help from him. Very fair man and he understands he is a hard instructor.
Mr. Neumann is not that difficult to understand but he is a good teacher if you like a challenge in Statistics. He gets mad easily especially when people ask questions- make sure it's a good question. However, he has a great sense of humor.

Great teacher. No trouble with communication and a good sense of humor. Very helpful and responsive and wants you to do well. If you're borderline he will give you the better grade. Highly recommend!
I was expecting horrible and got great! A very easy class to take if you write good notes: open book/notes quizes and tests. Accent not as bad as expected, and he writes everything on the board, you just have to copy.
no good. analagies are horrible. accent is horrible. if you have a hard time with math, he has no compassion.
he was the worst teacher i ever had!
If you can get over his Russian accent, this guy is a good teacher. Pretty clear in his message and with an odd brand of humor, Neumann made my Statistics experience an interesting one. As a side note, he gives you plenty of chances to bring your grade up, since he hands out a few quizes in addition to his tests.
I went in dreading it, but actually had a good time and came out of the class with an A. It does take work, so take notes, study, and ask questions. I was in the Honors course which I think made a big difference because it made it easier because there was more one on one and he seemed to enjoy working with our class.
Neumann is a difficult person, and he means to be. I hate him!
an interesting character...he keeps the pace quick and being Israeli his accent can be a problem, but then again, he speaks English better than most of us. The subject is rigorous and does not dummy it down for you. It was the only B I got in two years, but I respect him...if you need statistics, just keep an add-drop slip handy
The absolute worst teacher I have ever had. Not only can I not understand him with his accent, it is also hard to understand what he means. He does not take the time to go over subject matter, as if he expects his students to know it already. Only take this class if you are an excellent math student, and can teach yourself.
He's a tough teacher but he gives you plenty of examples and he allows you to use notes on your tests. Just make sure you come to class and pay attention and you'll be fine. I'm a****with math and I came out of his class with a B so he's not impossible. The accent was tough at first but you get over it after a week
Difficult to understand and not very helpful. Anytime someone asked a question in our class he acted as if it was a hassle and still wouldn't explain the answer in an understandable manner. I wouldn't take him unless you already have a strong basis in math.
he gives tons of partial credit, lets us use notes and formulas on tests, and drops the lowest test grade so unless u dont come to class theres no way your gonna fail this class, i absolutely suck at math and i got a b. one suggestion though... u dont need to do the homework just know the example problems he gives in the notes and youll be good to
I took statistics during summer A. I dont recommend taking this class over the summer! It's to fast paced. Mr. Neymann is a nice guy, but doesnt go into much detail about how to do the problems. I ended up buying a book from barnes & noble and studying on my own. I got an A so it was worth it. He also lets you use formula cards which is a big help
Neumann is an interesting guy who apparently likes statistics and may have a history of drinking problems in Russia. There's an exam everyweek, some are easy and some are hard. Four tests overall and he gives you some extra credit and chances to make up grades. Not the easiest math class I've had, but you can definitelty pull off a 'B'.
Funny guy. He is honest about the fact that he lies. Quizzes can be painful. Tests are more painful. Make sure you bring your notes and formulas to every class or you're toast. Don't ask any questions. He does give out plenty of Borat extra credit points. Welcome to the insanity!
Listen closely, for you won't hear him say the same thing twice. If you ask him a question, he'll tell you everything except what you want to know. His accent is thick, his brain is obviously there, just not being used for your information. He could be a good teacher, but he isn't.
Best professor I have ever had! He explains why the formulas work and is willing to help students in his office with math problems before class.
You must listen hard to understand his accent. He does his problems on Excel, so you can't see which formula he's using. Doesn't put alot of notes on the board. His extra credits are tricky. Quizzes are on non test days. Tests aren't multiple choice, with very few questions, so no room for error. He doesn't give homework or participation points.
He does NOT CARE about his students at all. When I went to see him after class he was NO HELP at all and said I didn't understand it because I was lazy. If I was lazy I wouldn't go after hours to see him. Has good examples in class, but once you don't get something you're lost from there on out and he doesn't care. It's a job to him, you can tell.

Straight A student, and I got a B. Math is my strong subject and I did not understand a word the man said, and he would not explain himself. Talked about Borat ALL semester. Would NOT recomend.Horrible
Very knowlegable and is into what he teaches. I had no trouble understanding him. As long as you show up to class and try your best you will do fine. He is a very funny guy as well.
This is Statistics,Bring your "A" game to this class and you will be fine. His teaching style is funny and he is available to all students.
Shai is a great statistics teacher. He gives good examples and his class is enjoyable. Just do your work and try and you will do fine!
His favorite phrase when he was asked a question was "limited english". He doesn't explain problems well at all, and made it hard to concentrate because he stomped around the whole classroom with his boots on. horrible, for those of you who want to actually learn math, don't take math with him.
I really enjoyed this class a lot. I actually learned and understood the concepts which were being taught and normally I dont. He's a pretty funny guy too, keeps you entertained through out the class. He does have an accent but dont let that scare you away. Hes not as hard to understand as you may think at first. I would definitely take him again.
Once you grasp his style, Mr. Neuman is an excellent Statistics teacher. You not only learn statistics, but he applys it to the real world. Just make sure you study his examples before each class because there WILL be a pop quiz. Go to every class, Study the examples he gives, do the homework, and you will do fine. Highly Recommend!!
I really enjoyed him, I usally hate math but he made it pretty easy to understand, his accent throws u off at 1st but then its pretty easy to understand him. he's funny to, i recommend him.
he's a funny guy but stats is hard enough, no multiple choice tests, no reviewing, no studyguides, poor wording on tests, a foreign accent, no curve, harsh grading, pop quizes, and lots of secrets about the course only make it harder i wouldnt recomend him at all and he has NO passion for his students or his job.
Very good teacher. You have to work hard to keep your grade up. Three tests, ten quizzes, one final. The final can replace the lowest quiz grade, and if you have perfect attendence he will drop the two lowest quizzes. Tough subject, tough class. Bring your 'A-game'.
cannot understand a word he says. Communication problems. Is not helpful. Ask questions and he will call you lazy.
Do not take him. He is horrible. Cannot understand him. He really does not want to teach.
Great teacher. Loved taking his class. Pop quizzes like every week and isn't easy, but keep up with the homework and you'll be fine.
Incomprehensible says it all.
I liked this class alot ..he kept u on your toes..but he was a very good teacher and explained everything well.Very nice man! you just have to pay attention and look over your work the night before the class! Quizzes very helpful!
Good class. Good teacher. You have to work hard and study if you want an A. Quizzes and tests are open notes. I spent quite a few hours studying for the tests and exams, and I made an A. He is easy to understand, no matter what some people say. Nice guy all around. :D
DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU LOVE MATH!!!!!! Teacher is hard to understand heavy accent, testes are nothing like the problems in class. Dose not use the right words when explaning things. It's an all around communitcation problem can't understand him.
I took his prep course, the whole class is horrible with math, but he does his best to explain things clearly. Yes he has an accent, but if you can get past that he is a good teacher. Have never witnessed him being rude or "awful" to anyone. LOVES his subject.
He is a really good teacher, his accent is not at all hard to understand. He doesn't require you to do homework but it helps you in quizzes and tests. Tests are not hard if you create a cheat sheet with formulas (which he lets you use on tests and quizzes) and study. If you want an easy A maybe you shouldn't be going to college.
Innovative in his explanations. very patient. quite humorous (IF YOU pay attention. its dry). overall a good professor. NO ASSIGNED HOMEWORK !!! I got a "B".
He is a high level professor.
Mr Neumann is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. I had him for algebra prep. He knows his subject inside and out and knows how to explain it to people who just don't get math(me). He does have an accent (reminds me very much of the Count from Seseme Street) but he is not hard to understand. Funny, Kind, Approachable
This professor knows what he is teaching, problem is, he can't properly teach it to his students. After each lesson, the students think they got a handle on what was taught, a quiz is put forth that makes us realize we didn't actually understand a thing.
While yes, he is a very smart professor and nice,he has no idea how to teach it to his students. You leave the classs thinking you understand the material but then the quizes (which he gives you litterally 4 min. for) show you, you don't.Don't even get me started on his tests.First class I've ever failed!Don't recommend for those who are bad at math
He is a very nice person. I took him for algebra prep and did excelent and passed the exit exam. His tests are harder then the exit exam, but the upside is that you will be prepared for it. There is no assigned homework, but you should do it on your own. That is the only way to grasp the material. Good Luck.
I am terrible at math & took statistics with him in 6 weeks. I was ready to rip my hair out at the end of each test. Yes his tests/quizzes can be hard but it is not impossible. You can meet with Mr. Neumann during his hours & he will help. The good news is he will replace your worst test grade with your final & takes out the two lowest quiz grades.
hilarious professor. Great guy. I still dont know where hes from but he kind of reminds me of fez form that 70's show. takes a few days to wrap your head around his accent but hes very personable. class itself is difficult (test wise) but as long as you show up, take notes, and study some, youll make it out fine.
He is excellent. Considering I took High School Algebra in 1971 and barely passed, I learned a lot in his class. He doesn't assign homework but you need to study for reinforcement. I got through with an 80 on the Exit Exam & since I have a hard time with Algebra concepts to start with, that was like an A to me. Kudos to Mr. Neumann!
He is a very good teacher, at fist its hard to understand and you willl get frustrated BUT dont give up.I had an F in the class the entire time, got a 95 on my final and passed with a C. Dot give up he is a great teacher.
Great teacher. No homework. Makes test way harder than the final. I would recommend this teacher.
I took Mr. Neumann's 6 week class. 6 weeks is not an ideal time frame for a math class, but Mr. Neumann did a very good job teaching us the material. His tests were pretty hard, but he was completely fair on the final exam. He had suggested homework, but not required. Your exams however are your ONLY grades.
Strait foward teaching. His examples and testing is fair- allows open book and notes on tests/quizes. His testing really puts your thinking into overdrive, have to be quick on those calculations!
Very difficult to follow his teaching. Examples are all over the place. Majority of people struggled. I had a tutor for roughly 10-15 hrs and week and still struggled. His tests are nothing like the examples given-a little too tricky. I would not recommend him for Calc. Good luck.
He knows subject very well. "Wants to challenge the students," he says. Tests were hard. Fair grading. Would maybe not take him again.
He is a very smart teacher. He really knows what he's talking about. His class is tough if you're not good at math, but if you try you will be fine. He is a VERY lenient grader. go to class because there are pop quizzes and 4 exams and those are the only grades. Take really good notes because everything is open booknotes.
Mr. Neumann was extremely difficult! The class average was about a 45% throughout the entire semester. His lectures are confusing, and the tests were crazy hard. At the end, he is lenient on grades, but the class is torture.
Very thick accent, very funny. Show up and ask questions, you will pass. I did a 6 week course with him so there was a test once a week.
Mr. Neumann's Honors Calculus courses are very rigorous and require you to think critically about Calculus; if you like to be challenged and think about math, his honors courses are for you. There are regular group assignments. His tests are conceptual and somewhat difficult, but he grades very fairly. He has a very good sense of humor.
STAY AWAYYYY!!!! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! Extremely unclear. Takes 30 minutes to explain a simple method that could be learned in a 3 minute Youtube video. I literally have not learned anything from this professor. MY TEXTBOOK MAKES MORE SENSE THAN HIM!!! I am now finishing the course relying on youtube videos to teach me CALC 2. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He gives a lot of group assignments and the test are really challenging.
Expect to be visiting the Math Lab (30+ hours) and hours of study at home. Provides no syllabus. Didn't teach over half the material-must be a self-learner. Takes 30 minute "breaks" during class time. You have to initiate review of test in his office. No extra credit. His subs don't even speak English. I would not advice taking Calculus I with him.
Has an Israeli accent but is not too hard to discern. Total of five test , drops one and replaces it with final. HW is optional but is essential for you to learn. Test are extremely tough, pretty much picks the hardest questions out of the book.
He gave 3 tests, and the final. The tests are pretty difficult, but if you attempt something and look like you somewhat know what you are doing, you can get half credit. Number of problems per test range from 7-12. The final exam he goes extremely easy on grading wise, but it is harder than the tests. Lectures last the entire 2 hours.
Mr. Neuman was overall a nice guy but his lectures were incredibly boring . It's not the subject, it's just him. As you can hear from his accent, he has a language barrier which makes it difficult to understand him. He is a knowledgeable guy but he just doesn't teach very well. The class average on exams was around a D. You have to teach yourself.
I took trig for summer term B and it was pretty easy. It'll help to have prior knowledge on precalc and trig though. No homework and only 2 tests and a final. He was a pretty nice guy and will try to help, but it would be best to just look it up online or watch a youtube video because he'll go way too deep into it. His accent isn't that bad.
Prof. Neumann wants his students to be successful in his class. Show up, study and work hard. You will do great if you understand good grades are earned not simply given for showing up.
Prof. Neumann wants his students to be successful in his class. Show up, study and work hard.
Took him for intermediate arg and I am horrible at math but this professor made it possible for me to actually understand math and do well at it. Plus he's actually very funny and makes his classes entertaining in a way. He literally tells you step by step at a very reasonable pace of how to do problems. Opened the text book once. No homeowork!
There is a language barrier, which leads to poor/misleading delivery of material. Homework is assigned, but not graded. Very little review for tests and does not appreciate questions or comments of alternative methods to solve problems. There are only five graded tests that make up your final grade. There is zero room for poor test grades.
He have an accent which is not bad and you get use to. He is willing to further explain things if you are not understanding. He gives HW online and is counted as extra credit. you are only graded by 4 exams and the final exam so if you do not study you won't pass but he is a great math teacher!!
if you are good in math take his class you only have 4 test and 1 final that is all you get grades for, no homework, easy A.
The tests are all based on the study guides. Extra credit provided can bring you up half a letter grade. Learn the theory behind the material and do practice problems. The final exam was information mainly based on the last two tests which were topics relevant to calculus. I highly recommend and respect this professor.
Calculus 2. Not the easiest to follow in class. He is all over the place in terms of organization of his notes on the board. I pretty much utilized Patrickjmt on Youtube to teach me. Do the homework that he assigns out of the book and you will be fine. He is a very fair grader and gives lots of partial credit. Not an easy class so study hard.
I had Professor Neumann for three classes. (MAC 1311H, MAC 2312H, MAS 2103) He was an amazing and memorable professor. His classes go more into the theory behind mathematics instead of just dry memorization. He expects a lot from his students but is very fair in his grading. All in all, he was my favorite professor at Eastern Florida.
What a great professor! For someone who is awful at math he really made it easy and enjoyable! I got an A!! would definitely recommend him for intermediate algebra!
Study hard, show up, go over studies guides, very easy grader.
His class is based around 4 tests and a final. Show up, listen, and ask questions and you'll pass. He offers extra credit if you want to buy the online book and math practice code. He has an accent, but he is probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He also grades super fast.
He's very smart but he's not a good teacher. I learned basically nothing in his class and relied on the Cocoa Math and Learning Center tutors. He never answers your questions very well. He uses the whiteboard and his writing is not orderly at all. Gives VERY HARD tests but is a very generous grader. Gives multiple formula sheets.
Took him online for MGF1107 He allows you to use the book on exams. Spend most of your time doing A LOT of homework and have 5 or so 100 pt discussions. I got an A on all of the HW + all 100's on the discussions and didnt pass because he makes the quizzes and final worth most of your grade that any extra work barely makes a dent to save your grade.
Don't take his class if you aren't willing to teach yourself calculus. I would only take him if I had a very strong foundation to work from.
Don't take College Algebra online! I nearly failed this class, but thankfully the grade on some of the assignments curved my high d to an a.
You do have to work for your grade but it's far from impossible. be a responsible student and maybe use The Organic Chemistry Tutor on youtube to help study. only grades are 4 test + final and extra credit assignment. Do the extra credit because the tests do get progressively harder. Nice guy, average teacher. He's funny too
I honestly really loved this teacher. You could tell he had a passion for the subject (Trigonometry in my case) and he knew what he was teaching well. The only grades in my class were three tests (two regular and a final) and then a bit of extra credit, so I really had to make sure I studied to get a good grade. He did partial credit though.
I would never recommend anyone take college algebra online, but if you've made the mistake I so foolishly did, just work hard and be smart and it will work out. This prof. weights solely on tests, so be sure to study hard and really understand the concepts. He was, however, willing to help me out. I got a C, should have had a D, but prof. was tight
Because it was an honors class we had to do proofs and those were HARD! There were two group tests and two alone tests. DON'T SKIP CLASS! If you skip class you'll come to the next one with absolutely no idea what's going on. Neumann graded lightly and you got points for at least attempting a problem. So, ALWAYS TRY!
