She is a very helpful professor. You may have to get used to her accent but overall she does a really good job explaining the material. Her tests are kind of hard but if you study and do practice problems you should be okay.
Dr. Landge is a sweatheart & highly encourages students to work thier hardest. Her test are ok! work problems out of chapter and clearly understand examples throughout chapter(especially latest chp before test. thats what shes likes! Oh and she is cute too!
Very good professor and extremely helpful. She is always trying to find a way to help her students and always gives extra points on her exams. It is organic chemistry, it is not meant to be an easy class, it is all bout working really hard and putting a lot of extra time into learning the material since you are expected to read outside of class.
Dr. Landge is so great. Her class is difficult but she gives a lot of extra credit to help you out. She is funny and will always keeps your attention. She will always help you out when you need it. If you don't study, then you probably won't do well. Read the chapters, do her problem set, and look at the questions in the book and you should be fine
Dr. Landge is one of the wonderful teacher in Georgia southern, she knows her material well and is very helpful.
Helpful professor, still in touch
First off, when I took Dr. Landge chem class she was pregnant. One minute she seemed all nice and the next she was moody. Lecture was ok, but her labs are a killer. She grades really hard and please dont forget your goggles because she has no problem calling you out. Class started with 45 now its only 25 students. Her tests are ok.
I hated chem going into this class, but Dr. Landge was so good at explaining I was able to make an A. The material is hard, and you need to study your butt off, but she was an excellent teacher and understand chemistry isn't for everyone.
Don't believe what you are reading! She acts all nice and sweet. She is comical and a fun person, but not a good teacher. She WILL NOT ROUND your grade. She doesn't help with problem sets at all. DON'T TAKE HER! WORST ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TEACHER at Georgia Southern! If you care about your GPA, drop her! The ACS practice book won't help either!
Dr. Landge was helpful in class, but difficult to meet with outside of class. Tests are very difficult. Quizzes are much easier. Do all MC HW!
Good Teacher but requires a lot of effort on your part. She won't just give you answers only hint to them. Tests are pretty hard but so is the class, and yea she is strict about her grading scale. 89.99 is a B.
She is one of the best professors I have ever taken! She surpasses many professors just by being so friendly, understanding, and basically just there to help out her students.
She is an extremely helpful professor, who knew how to work with technology. I wish more teachers were like her. I enjoyed her class very much.
Dr. Landge is the best teacher i've ever had. The class isnt easy but its organic chemistry. she is more than willing to help if you put in the time. I went from struggling in organic I to making A's in organic II. Shes the best. Take her!
Great teacher! If you already know organic chemistry that is.
Talks fast and is really intimidating. Doesn't explain things well and has a heavy accent. Then she does not do any curves on grades. Would not recommend in the slightest.
Worst teacher I've taken since I've been in college. I never missed a class, lab, or assignment, and I still failed. She's the reason I'm taking Organic Chemistry again next semester!
Best prof ever, she tries hard to teach the material to every student and her passion is visible... I strongly recommend.
Dr. Landge is a a great teacher. I really enjoyed her class. Need to study after every lecture and also need to solve lots of problems.
She's great! She has an accent but you get used to it. She loves chem and knows how to explain everything so well. She encourages you to come to office hours or contact her if you are not understanding anything. Her exams are a bit hard but they're manageable! She doesn't go through the material fast like most professors. Loved her!
Awesome Teacher.
This class was pretty hard, Dr. Landge knows what she is talking about but she doesn't use the powerpoint notes back to back so it's hard to keep track of her, and it doesn't help that she speaks a million words a minute. But she is a good teacher and has the best interests for her students
VERY CHALLENGING. You have to think which is why I loved her. Got a B in the class & it was a hard earned B. She does talk fast, but you can keep up. Her test are tricky. Honestly, if you study and don't overthink they are pretty fair. Helpful, responds to emails, LEARNED A LOT. Overall. Loved her, Pre-med? Take her but be prepared to work & study!
SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER I'VE TAKEN AT GSU THUS FAR !! In her office ours she does not do one on one so basically whatever you didn't learn in class you have to teach yourself. She talks real fast and is all over the place. There is no type of curve or extra credit points. If you love your gpa and your major do not take her!
She wants you to understand the material. Memorization does not help you to understand... One of the best teachers I have taken in GSU.
Tests are hard but multiple oppurtunities to pull off your grade. Her passion is visible, Do HW and labs and get a decent grade in exam and you are set.
She is very helpful outside of class. There is weekly online homework that varies on challenge level. She goes off topic a lot. The homework does not represent the types of problems on the tests or quizzes. You have to study or look over your notes daily to stay on track. The book has helpful practice problems.
She knows a lot about Chemistry but does not explain it very well. She gets off topic a lot and her tests are a lot harder than the practice problems she gives in class or the homework. She seemed to be more interested in showing how much she knows about organic rather than teaching it. Do not take her unless you are a strong chem student.
She wants you to know the material. If you want to understand organic chemistry take her. Need to study hard. She blends her lecture very with real applications.
Dr. Landge is a great professor and genuinely wants you to learn so its not an easy A or grade but if you work hard you Will get the grade. She does usually leave a lot of work for the end of the semester so if you're doing bad you can get a higher grade and if you're doing well don't slack off!
Dr. Landge is funny! She kind of scared me the first day but whenever she pointed out that she had read her profile on here, I died laughing. She's pretty sarcastic and that keeps the class fun. The material is HARD regardless of who is teaching it. She was good though. She gives pop quizzes, especially on Fri. Assigns homework but rarely takes it.
Dr. Landge is hands down the best professor I've taken at GSU. I took her for Organic I and II and learned A LOT. You have to work for your grade and study every day, but organic is a difficult subject in general. She is upbeat and keeps your attention throughout the entire class. Pre-med, pre-pharm, pre-PA? Take her.
Dr. Landge is absolutley my favorite teacher ever! I am seriously the worst at Chem and she really took the time to help the whole class not just get through but to make sure each and everyone of of the students understood. She is super helpful and always tells students what her office hours are. Her tests can sometimes be difficult but not bad.
Dr. Landge was very kind, and you can tell she really cared about chemistry (especially organic chemistry). She tries to make sure everyone in the class understands the content in the class, and has helped me out multiple times during her office hours. The tests were kind of hard, but other than that you should be good.
Excellent Teacher! Loves Chemistry.
She wants you to know the material. Uses clicker and wants student participation. Study well and attend lectures and you are set.
Overall a great professor. She has no attendance policy but you still have to come in order to get extra points here and there. If you try she will help.
Loved her attitude towards chemistry and learning.
She isn't one of those teachers where it's partly their fault if you fail. If you take Dr. Landge, that's all on you. She's a wonderful person and is very supportive. Organic was hard, but I was expecting something way harder than this. My guess is that Landge softened the blow. Take her. Something about her makes her come off as very endearing.
Sweet person. Test are hard barely finished them and most did not. Random attendance and quiz points when class attendance is low. Tons of online Wiley plus homework. Lab lectures go on FOREVER & stay the full lab time. 1 group project at the end of semester but its only worth 15 points. Drops lowest test grade. Her being in office hrs are rare
Great Teacher! Makes you study and wants you to work towards your grade. Notes are taken everyday. Whole lecture is on document camera or on board. Pop quizzes here and there and participation points are given. Pay attention and study and chemistry comes naturally.
Do not take her. She is not helpful. Every time I asked to meet with her she would tell me to talk to her during lab time and then give me less than 30 seconds of her time. She offers no extra credit. Test are impossible. Wouldn't take her again.
Dr. Landge is sweet, and can be really funny as a person. On the other hand, she is not a great teacher. She goes extremely fast and thinks ochem should be "logical" to everyone. She drops the lowest test grade, but all of the test are very tough. I would not take her again.
She wants you to understand the material. She repeatedly points out the basic and want you to perform and do good.
Good Class.. Learned a lot. Lot of material but needs to put effort.
-class grade is made up of- discussions, quizzes, tests, and labs -everyone in the class failed the first lab (44 or less) and she didn't remove the grade, but for every lab after that tells you what you made or missed -responds immediately with her email -extremely nice; review the short lectures and tests come from notes and self assessments
Class was very organized, received immediate feedback. Will take her again.
NEVER SKIP A CLASS. Pay attention, study your notes every night and look over the book section that coincides with what you're learning & you'll do great! DO THE HOMEWORK. She's almost never in her office hours, but if you make an appointment with her she WILL be there! She was so encouraging and loved the material so much.
Literally the hardest class I have taken!! I am a bio major and I'm pretty good with chemistry. She goes really fast and doesn't like to go back over things. The class average on the first test was a 32. She is the toughest grader. Get ready to teach yourself if you have her. Great person and fun to talk to, but she doesn't know how to teach.
She is a nice person, but goes really fast and you have to be with her. The test are extremely hard. The there is a lot of points to get and the lowest test grade is dropped so if you work for it you can pass.
Honestly the hardest class i've ever taken and its because of the teaching. Made a 30 and 36 on two of the tests and its not that uncommon. Only does mechanisms in class and doesn't actually explain them. She actually is a very likable person but if you are registering right now, please for your sake, don't take her.
I'm sad to give her such a low score because she's very sweet, funny, and cares a lot about the material. However, her method of teaching is tough; she teaches primarily by doing example problems quickly with very few written notes, expecting you to just "get" it. Very difficult tests; it feels awful to study for upwards of 8 hours and make a 50.
Study hard and one of the lowest test grade is dropped. Very caring and respond to different student learning styles. Liked her and will take her again.
Excellent professor and she cares and wants people to succeed.
What can I say. I made it. I passed with a C and my highest 2 tests scores were a 40s. She has many extra grades that help. She always assumes that we already know the things taught. Tests are usually 12 multiple choice worth 60 points and various short answer problems worth 40. Honestly do not take her if you struggle with chemistry.
Excellent teacher; knows her stuff. Cares about students.
Like her class. She is passionate about her subject and want the student to learn rather then memorize.
Taking her this semester . Great Teacher - notes are clear and exams are spot on.
I have started understanding chemistry more and it has pique my interest in chemistry.
Her Passion is clearly visible... take her if you want to understand the basics.
She drops one exam grade and offers one creative project at the end. Class is organized, I will take her again.
For an online class - she is a very good teacher. She replied all the emails in an efficient and timely manner. Clear notes. Definitely recommended.
Dr. Landge is a really sweet person! Her lectures can be very confusing and all over the place at times, but she makes sure that you understand all the content. She is very lenient toward her students and making sure they are receiving good grades. Tests are mainly on notes. Don't miss class and take good notes, and you will easily get an A.
She knows a lot about the subject and expects for us to know as much as she does. Prepare to fail tests.
Great Teacher. Always ask to meet and works with you.
definitely do not recommend. she is a nice person, but a terrible professor. she expects people to know this material because she learned this while in high school and teaches it as though it is common sense. tests are extremely hard and she does not curve.
Dr. Landge really cares for her students and despite the course being challenging, so long as you read the textbook an A isn't difficult to achieve. Her teaching style does involve her calling students at random so know your stuff and definitely do the SI worksheets. btw,Her bad reviews are typically students who didn't study.
Very good prof. Highly recommended for Organic I. She clears the basics so well. I will take her again.
If you want your basics to be clear..... Take her.
Be attentive and present in class. Almost everything she focuses on comes in the exam. Straightforward.
Organic chemistry is a very hard class so unless you are a genius I would not take this professor. She does not teach well at all. She just expects you to know everything and doesn't explain the concepts very well. Somehow I managed to pass the class with a C, but I wouldn't recommend this professor to my enemy. Just pick another professor :)
Will take her again, she made the virtual learning fun.
Even with the change in instruction and have face to face and zoom lecture. Dr. Landge kept the lecture alive. She asks question to the whole class and keeps everybody involved. Participation is a must.
I would take her again... what you see is what you get. If you miss the class you won't pass. She makes you work, ask lots of questions.
Organic Chemistry is HARD, but Dr. Landge will definitely help you if you ask for it. She moves quickly and expects you to know a lot without being taught the basics. She is very kind and accessible outside of class. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities that help a lot in the end. Go to class because she gives free points almost daily!
Dr. Landge is a God send. Granted this was my second time taking org chem, but she cared so deeply about me and my classmates trying to make sure we all passed. She was also really funny and loved to go on tangents to make class more fun. I would highly recommend her.
I like the way she teaches and care about each and every student. It was needed during the time of COVID.
I took Forensic Chemistry with Dr. Landge, and it was quite the mess. Very stressful. Granted it was brand new and so was the curriculum, but there was no chemistry involved whatsoever. My high school forensics class was more informative and valuable.
Love the way the course was arrange, with demo labs, and real research carried out. Opportunity to present to real crowd. I would take her again.
This made my chemistry journey easy. I was always afraid of Organic Chemistry. She made it relatable and was always available.
She is very genuine and passionate about her courses. Loved how she managed multiple things in one class. Presenting research in front of crowd was honestly the best thing.
I don't know where all of these high ratings came from. I expect I will leave this class with an A. She is extremely hard to reach outside of class and in class she moves so fast its hard to get a question in. I had to teach myself the entirety of this class. Yes, she is a nice woman. Her tests are very hard and she actively tries to trick you
Does a very poor job of explaining material in class and answering student questions. Nice lady. Is not available to students outside of class period. Expect to teach yourself the material as she will likely not be of use or even available to meet.
OCHEM 1 with Landge was nothing short of a nightmare. Her tests are extremely difficult and class time did not resemble test time. She's so busy it is hard to get her attention for more than 10 seconds if you need to clarification on something.
Dr.Landge is hard!! but she is amazing. She tries and gives out as many extra points as possible with projects and pop quizzes. She is also very responsive to emails. Personally I loved her class and think she's an amazing professor
One of the amazing professors in Organic chemistry. She tries really hard to keep the student active, alery and make sure everybody is on the same page. Her dedication and passion is visible in the course. Will take her again.
One of the best memories will be this organic chemistry class. I thought I will struggle throughout but the opportunities provided by the professor was through out the semester. There are pop-quizzes every class period which can act as a attendance as well, so difficult to miss a class period. I will take her again.
Dr. Landge kept the class active and alert. The pop quizzes were there in each and every lecture. They were all very straightforward questions. Love her interaction the class especially at 8 am. Taking her again in fall.
Dr. Landge was available for this online class. Appointment was given on a timely manner and she helped on multiple occasions even in the evening time. I would take her again.
I like her teaching style, she explains the content until the student understand. Will be taking her again.
She was available outside office hours for this online class. She replied all the emails on time and I appreciate this during this asynchronous class because of my job timings.
I love Dr. Landge, but there are some advisories. She can be a little all over the place with some of her teaching material but covers everything for the test. Test and practice problems don't reflect each other well so make sure to study well. However, she is fun and amazing! I would take her again and she gives many points where she can.
Dr. Landge was an awesome professor who is passionate about what she teaches. To do well in the class show up and truly pay attention to the lectures. Also, do all the practice problems so you can find out what you do and don't understand. Go to lecture, pay attention, do practice problems, you will be fine.
Love how she conducts her class, with worksheets and pop quizzes and real life examples. The class is amazing!
Amazing Professor!
Highly recommended. She helped me through out my course work. Made me work and understand the material.
One of the best professors in Chemistry department. Will always be there to help you.
Actually the worst teacher I have had. When she taught she was all of the place and you would throw information all around the place. She screamed in my face in lab in front of the whole class because I got a question wrong and did not know how to teach it to the class. Never would take this professor again!
Dr. Langde is a very sweet person but there was not much to grade to help us if we didn't do well on a test. We were supposed to have more than 10 homework's but only had 3 which didn't help us with studying. There were no practice test to learn what you missed there were only outlines for the test to look over.
i'm not one to usually write reviews, however here we are. her teaching style was very unorganized. she rushed through material and would throw pop quizzes at you just to get grades in the grade book on time. i also got yelled at for asking a question bc i didn't understand something she was teaching even though i wasn't the only one confused.
Passionate professor who makes the material engaging. Use unstuckstudy, do practice problems, and attend every lecture to succeed. An overall great class, would take again.
Love her style of teaching. I did well because of guided notes, office hours and encouragement. Highly recommended. Will take her again.
I like how she divided her materials into notes, videos, pop quizzes, online HW and exams. She was very accessible in lab and wanted all her student to participate. I look forward to take her again,
I am amazed of the lectures are so well organized and worked on. Due to snow day we missed some content, she did not rush but made sure all the materials is properly addressed in time. I would highly recommend.
I am currently in her class and 4 hours later in lab and class, I still feel I can learn more. She keeps the energy in the class throughout.
I would highly recommend this professor who struggles with focus. She keeps everybody engaged and on task. Having straight 4 hours with her, I still feel I can read more.
Took her for Gen Chem, love her attitude and consideration for students.
Awful teacher, loves to call you out when you're helpless. She doesn't not care about you or you're classmates. But is possible to come out w a good grade.
I would advise you to avoid her and her class.
I liked how she gave multiple opportunities to succeed. She genuinely cares for all the students and maintain a positive environment through out the course.
If you attend all the classes and do the work, you will end up getting atleast a C in the class. She made sure all the students understand the material.
She changes the lecture style to keep students busy. She wants all level students to be engaged and is visible through her effort.
She's very helpful and thorough. I'm taking her for next semester. Loved her attitude throughout the semester.
Amazing personality, she does Keep everybody on toes. Participation is a must. She changes her teaching for every chapter. You really need to study to get good grades.
One of the best, you learn and understand the material.
Love her approach of understanding and learning more then memorizing.
Have her for O Chem 2 lab. Her love for chemistry, safety and learning is very visible. You have to read the lab before hand and she encourages to ask question.
Dr. Landge made lab more enthusiastic even though it is an early morning class. She goes over instructions and lab safety rules each week. She's chill and you will choose a lab partner on the first week. If you turn in your prelabs and lab reports on time and follow all instructions in the lab manual, you will be happy with your grade for lab.
