She was difficult!!
Never responded to questions and sent a "I'll get back with you on" on a specific question regarding an excel spreadsheet. HORRIBLE! Do not take. Worst instructor I had earning a MBA at APUS.
By far the WORST professor I have ever had. A woman on a power trip who is more concerned with her DOCTOR title than to assist with educating her students. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS-if you do, take it with Mary D-she's amazing!
At the end of the course she gave a multiple choice final exam which can easily be graded at the conclusion of the exam because it's an online course...Instead she grades exam to determine what grade she is going to give up.....Talk about shady...this instructor has no morals.
This statistics course is by far the most difficult MBA course that I took (I have taken ten out of 13) and I think most students would agree. But Dr. Chambers covered the subject in detail, returned assignment in time, and graded fairly.
Mixed thoughts on Dr. Chambers. Requirements can be confusing & you need look in many places to find them as they can be scattered a bit - not exactly laid out in one spot. Overall though, she grades and responds quickly; will tell you what she wants if you don't submit what she's expecting. Sticky on turnitin.com (make sure <10%). Otherwise fair.
Worst professor I have had in my educational career. I took a mid-term exam which use te term "short answer" in the question. With no word count requirement; she awarded me a 54. When asked, after several emails she stated that my answers were too short. When I inquired about word count for the final she let the class know that...see next post
I took a class from this Prof in Sept. I had no issues with her at all. I had no need to ask for additional clarification/assistance. She graded quickly. My only issue was the "closed book" midterm. It's more on the course rather than the prof, but I took mine "closed book" but there's no guarantee others would do the same--so I got a low score.
Worst instructor of all my MBA classes. I took her class as of last 2 electives. She was unfair and unforgiving with technical issues and even when I showed proof that the documents were completed on time thru turnitin.com. I requested to speak to her over the phone so we could clarify the issue and she declined. I DO NOT RECOMMEND>
Difficult instructor! Very tough! Follow the syllabus and you will be fine. However I will not take any of her classes again.
Worst professor in my ENTIRE academic career! Poor communicator: When does a professor not post contact information/office hours on a syllabus? Isn't this most important in an online course? Poor instructions: No word count/page requirements for tests. Disorganized/inattentive: Messaged entire class of another student's failure of course. AVOID!
Literally the worst instructor I have had in eight years of college. She routinely mentions grammatical errors in student product in emails full of grammatical errors. She is the single worst instructor I have ever seen in academia.
!!WARNING!!THEABSOLUTEWORSE!! Wish I had listened to the previous comments. She is unclear (all area, unorganized, shows zero sympathy to military issues, does not respond to emails or discussion post, etc. I had to pull over on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere by myself. BEWARE!I need more space.Read the reviews.
this instructor is totally incompetent academically and most unprofessional in her grading methods, she never rewards for good work , just kills grades for no reason. one third of the class have reported her to her academic supervisors, she made this class a horrible experience.
Read the comments carefully and critically! This professor should not be teaching at all... Thin about it!??! In order to have these many students coming online to write a complaint should tell everyone something...
This professor is the worse I have ever encountered. I have taken classes inhouse and online from about 5 different colleges and I had never had a professor that seemed to care less for her students. I actually dropped the course and waited two semesters until the university had another professor available for the course.
This woman is a careless, bureaucratic robot. Responded to emails with terse, almost rude responses that just reiterated mindless school policy, like some DMV employee reciting in monotone. Feedback was next to useless, and the readings every week seemed to have little if any relation to the actual assignments. Will choose different proff next time
Just finished this course. Instructor is tough but fair. All the necessary information to be successful in the course is clearly laid out in the acknowledgment statement. She tells you what she expects to see in assignments. Timely feedback. Responsive to emails. All in all tough instructor no easy A.
Prof Chambers is quite anal but after having other professors that simply award you a letter grade with no feedback you grow to appreciate her attention to detail (although it does impact your grade initially). Tells you what you need to do to improve your grade. Follow the directions she provides and you will do fine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and the topics for the discussion forum made for great conversation throughout the week with my peers. The professor responded to emails/questions very quickly. Grades were posted in a very reasonable time that allowed feedback prior to submitting further assignments.
anal about APA format. responds quickly and provides exams of what she expects of the practice questions. provides guides to use as well. tough but fair.
tough professor and I didn't like her point deductions on assignments but she forced me to become a better writer. Good feedback and quick response to questions.
Class peer recommended that I provide feedback here. I didn't have any problems. She's clear in expectations. I didn't need to email her. Follow course syllabus and acknowledgement statement and you will be fine.
I was that student that battled with Prof Chambers throughout the term abt point deductions. At the end of the term she pointed out to me the difference in my week 1 and my week 8 grade and the improvements I made. I had to admit my writing improved. Despite my constant complaining she didn't back down and made me a better writer. Much respect.
Irregular grading patterns; reasonable response time;forum and paper assignments due each week; midterm and final project. Instructor is not very understanding so it dampens motivation; operates straight by the books, no flexibility for emergencies or PCS-ing students.
Read course syllabus, announcements and emails and you will be fine. Can be a bit overwhelming but she does tell you what you need to do to correct assignemnts. Unlike some instructors I've had in the past.
Solid Course. Professor was very picky about APA formatting and inconsistent in grading. I was docked points on formatting in week 5 and when I questioned it she responded that "She may not" have dropped points previously. As long as you can follow the assignments and format papers in APA you'll do fine.
APA police; but hey it is business grad school. Follow syllabus and use the guides provided (APA guide and sample essays) and you will be ok.
The prof responded to students in a timely manner and responded to the class when the same question came up. She was great at keeping us updated and sending out reminders to ensure we were on track.
Good instructor. Organized.
The class is not easy, but she tells you what she wants, how she wants it, and how you can improve. This was my first graduate class, and it prepared me for the rest for sure.
Comp exam course. Prof. sent frequent email reminders for important course assignments. No complaints.
grades assignments tough; a lot of point deductions for mistakes.
a lot work (writing). Grades papers in short turn around.
she will not accept assignments after the due date; needs to be more flexible to the working adult.
I thought her class was pretty challenging but she was excellent at answering questions.
Do not wait until the last minute, on the due date, to request an assignment extension she will not grant it. She did work with me on PCS when I gave her 2 weeks notice. Grades tough.
Comp exam course. Dr. Chambers sends out frequent reminders and tells you what she expects on the practice questions. List items in feedback of what is needed to be successful on comp exam. A lot of writing. 4 essay questions for comp exam. Last course of program and tough course. I passed with distinction (PD)
Tough course. Direct and comes across as rude in her communications. My first graduate course and it started out rough. I can say that I do feel prepared for all my future courses.
Requirements for the course are clear. On the practice questions she informed me on what I needed to correct prior to the exam. I felt prepared going into the comp exam and passed the course.
1st Masters class and could hardly get papers right. Strict APA formatting but she does give you samples that should be followed to the "T".
I didn't have any problems with the course. Prof gave examples of writings and also provided information on how to correct mistakes. My issue was with APUS and the financial aid department. ugggh
I was new to the business courses and I learned a great deal in the course.
lazy, read the book, write the paper, class could have been phoned in
A lot of writing. I learned a lot and truly appreciated the feedback on the papers vs. prior instructors within APUS.
Prof Chambers guided me through the comp exams. She tells you what to do and the practice questions are a huge help. A great deal of writing in this course. She does encourage you throughout the course. I followed the directions provided and I passed with distinction.
I had no problems with the class; directions were clear and as should be expected of a graduate student the ability to follow directions and read. I agree with her when shared that there should be no points deducted for APA formatting when guides and videos have been provided (and this is the last course of the program). The class is not bad.
This course challenged me and I struggled but passed. It is easy for me to blame the tough grading of Prof Chambers but I must blame the prior instructors for not holding me to the same standards. How could I get A's throughout the program and barely pass the comprehensive exam? It's over now but this last course gave me a heart attack.
provides good feedback on assignments. responds quickly to questions asked. updates class to make sure everyone is on the same page. a lot of reading and writing.
Professor starts you off running. A lot of work from this class, the Professor thinks that this is the only class you're taking. She expects the students to do a lot of work in a short period of time. Her assignments are not clear since you cannot access the websites she supplies for the class and she does not really tell you what chapters to read.
Comprehensive exam course. Last course and the feedback on the practice questions was by far the most detailed i've had in all of my classes.
This professor is retarded. The class started 3 days ago, and she had spammed this class with 15 emails about retarded rules shes has just made up, plus half of these rules are in direct contridiction to departmental policies. I addition she likes to create little forum posts where you need to 'acknowledge' her stupid policies she invents.
clear and detailed expectations during week one of the course. tough grader but fair tells you what you need to do to improve your grade.
Week one was a bit overwhelming with all the info but the instructor provides everything you need to be successful. I appreciated the detailed grading (red marks) and forum dialogue. It was frustrating at times but refreshing to see where I could make improvements each week. I had not received this level of detail in prior courses.
Good instructor. Provide everything needed to pass the course during week one and makes sure you have it she makes you acknowledge that you do. Follow the directions and you will be fine.
All writing, (2) 4-5p practice essays and 14 days to complete (4) 4-5p exam essays. She either doesn't grade her own papers (different grading styles every time) or is uneducated (docked me for using "it" and called it a preposition at the end of the sentence). Request a different prof if you can! (I passed, but I'm not satisfied with just passing)
Tough grader. I have not worked as hard in none of my prior courses. All I can say is re-read and re-read your assignment before you submit. Follow all directions.
Follow the directions beginning at week 1. I didn't and learned the hard way. All information is there and she makes you acknowledge that you have read it but I admit I didn't read it until I got my week 1 grade. I learned the hard way.
Disappointed APU didn't challenge me until this course. Paper was marked up in red. Feedback provided and I was forced to use the writing lab for the first time in my grad career.
Toughest course I have taken at APUS. Provides feedback and tells you how to correct. A lot of writing and reading case studies.
Her instructions are contradicting (is 12am Weds Day 3 OR 4?). An automated site does all the grading. If it caught something that's not wrong? -10 pts and a condescending link to a grammar tutorial. But her writing is so bad so she's super hypocritical. Does APUS use bad teachers in lieu of actual weed-out courses?
To everyone saying she's weirdly picky about APA. OF COURSE SHE IS. She doesn't do any of grading. It's a bot, which is why she can't answer questions about grammar. Also: This isn't a writing course!! Hard grader good. If she fixed your writing, Word's spellcheck could have too. Her exam questions show she's out of date on her actual subject.
tough course and good feedback. She did start (middle of course) returning papers with grammar scan printouts which helped. Read the requirements, everything is laid out but it was an adjustment no consistency across all professors. There were no exams in this course but a lot of writing about case studies.
If you can avoid this professor do so! She thinks her class if the only thing you have going on in your life and is a major email bomber! You have to acknowledge all these crazy points and most of it I think she makes up herself. She stresses that she expects grad level work but treats the class like children. Be sure you know how to cite APA
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Her instructions are murky, and often so confusing it takes several re-reads to understand the purpose of the assignment. She doesn't check her own grammar when posting an assignment which adds to the confusion. She doesn't know how to communicate properly, very cold and standoffish, avoid if possible.
Expect weekly papers that are 5+ pages long based on a 10 word prompt. Amount of work equates to taking 3 full time classes.
A lot of writing. Good feedback provided on assignments. I learned a great deal. Yes, a lot of emails during week 1 but they give you all the information you need for the course. She is direct and to the point.
not clear, takes awhile to get back for clarity. extremely tough grader. never struggled in a class until this one.
As a new student getting back into school it was an eye opener for sure. A lot of writing and the APA formatting got me for a minute. Professor provides examples and a guide but I failed to follow them up until week 3. After week 3 I was good to go. Feedback provided on papers.
end of program course and a lot of writing. Dr. Chambers provides good feedback on how could improve on my future papers. I'm glad the program is over.
I failed to follow directions i take blame for that. if you read, read, read all directions, emails and course announcements you will be fine in the course.
took her for both 419 and 698. watch out for the tests. mid term for 419 was 10 essay questions, each answer with a word minimum of 750 words! getting a straight answer out of her is next to impossible. this is ONE class, not 5 lady! only apus class i've had issues with.
encourages you to finish strong since it is the last class. didn't have any issues. I have had dr. chambers in prior course 601 & 620. pretty consistent (tough grader)
Worked with me and recommend I submit a course extension due to military leave. A lot of writing. Comes across as direct and to the point which did not bother me. I would take again.
1st grad class. Adjustments for me with sakai. enjoyed the class.
Punitive grader. If you are not a mind reader, avoid this professor. I was really excited to take this class and now I think I might change my major altogether. D:
You will have enough work to make this the only class you take. She expects graduate level writing from the students but she fails to proofread her own work. Many times the instructions are not written to convey her expectations and your grade suffers. The midterm was 10 essay questions with 500 word min. and then graded APA format vs. content.
I have never been more disappointed in a professor! She is extremely condescending. Will tell you "you need to learn how to use commas" but then every set of her assignment instructions has simple spelling errors. You MUST have less than 20% turnitin rating to pass a paper yet will rip you apart for not having enough references. STAY FAR AWAY!
I enjoyed the class. Prof C explained the requirements in week 1. A new tool was used in the class called connect which she encouraged the class to be patient because everyone needed to adjust to it (including her) and she allowed late work. I'm not one to judge based off others experiences I try to give benefit of the doubt. I would take again.
Was not impressed with this teacher at all. Hard to get ahold of and very tough grader. Not an easy class and grading scale is all over the place. Received an F on a major paper and then received an A on the next one. Had points deducted from forum posts because I "didn't exceed her expectations".
I enjoyed the class but a lot of writing (a whole lot). Prof was straight forward with clear expectations.
very responsive.
Just finished BUSN 620 my first class in the grad program at American Public. I was not ready for all the writing but the feedback helped me to understand expectations moving forward. I'm looking forward to program.
Never available, there was no flexibility whatsoever about communication. I think she is overbooked and truly has no passion for education. Does it for the job. She is tough grading, as if she is there to try you out rather than to educate and cooperate for a learning environment. She would not respond my e-mails/coud not get my last name right.
This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire educational career. Her grades are arbitrary and seem to be subjectively based on her weekend mood. When asking for specifics, her responses are always vague at best. I refuse to study under this pitiful excuse of a Dr again.
long papers each week but provides a template for all writing assignments. no issues. Was responsive to my questions.
Fair grader but expect a 5+ page paper every week with a 15+ paper at the end. Forums are helpful and she interacts with responses.
a lot of writing. the research paper is long and requires a lot of time. fair grades, responses are quick. APA formatted templates are very helpful and saves time. would take again.
I have to write this class was the most disappointing of my academic career at APU. I do feel regret at being involved in this class with this professor and would not recommend this professor to anyone. The course material was certainly no more difficult than any of my previous classes so it was not the rigor of the subject matter.
This course required a lot of writing very long papers based on several different case studies. The strategic plan was a good assignment I learned a lot about the company I selected. I did not have any communication with the instructor outside the discussion postings the instructions for the assignments were clear cut and the template helped.
What a great disappointment. This course does not offer anything of substance. Run from this professor. Grading inconsistent. Forum questions are not masters level. This course will not provide you with an in depth review of global business practices. I truly don't understand why the professor is teaching this subject.
Dr. Chambers makes sure you follow the writing rules for her class. The problem is that she doesn't follow them herself. She expects you to use templates that she provides for her papers. All too often, these templates have grammatical and/or spelling errors that you have to make sure you correct. Read instructions carefully and you'll do fine.
Very tough grader. More interested in the proper structure of a sentence than actually learning about the business content. Her feedback was links to youtube videos. Easily the worst teach I have had at APUS/AMU. Assumes that all students have a background in business.
Extremely disappointed with the class and the professor. Avoid at all costs. AMU/APUS should do an audit for how this course is conducted. Course content is substandard. I don't believe this professor has enough of a business background to teach the basics. Do yourself a favor and try a different prof.
Each week a lot of case study reading and answering of questions and requires a lot of time. Make sure you read the directions and you should be fine. No specific issues to point out besides a lot of work.
I actually got a good grade. The odd thing is I never bothered to purchase a textbook and in retrospect many of my essays were sound as far as APA formatting was concerned but my knowledge of business was abysmal. I guess one good thing is the grades are primarily based on format. I can't help but think knowledge of the subject in not required.
I received a 0 for my first forum and she said that I posted it but it didn't show up. By the time I received the grade we were on week 2 and was unable to view the forum so that I could even verify she was correct. She said it was my responsibility to make sure it worked correctly and to "carry on." Withdrew from class immediately to save my gpa.
Tough grader, takes points off without explaining, format was more important than content of papers. weekly forums & papers due. Having a portfolio project part and a mid-term due on the same weekend, not realistic. portfolio project very time consuming, professor not helpful.
This was by far the worst class and professor throuhout my undergraduate and graduate classes. The professor was more worried about sentence structure than content. I would definately stay away from this class if you could help it.
Provides no feedback from quizzes or tests you are unable to see where you went wrong. 13 quizzes and 2 tests. If you have problems with McGraw-hill connect do not take this course. Problems with connect it is your problem and the school does not help you. If you are capable of teaching yourself this is the class for you.
I received an 'A' but this is the worst professor by far that I have had at APU. The majority of studying for this class is spent researching online & watching YouTube. Dr. Chamber's primary focus is essay format - not the content. She will not address problems. I'm going to do you a solid & say stay away from this prof.
She follows what she wants when grading, if you do not have the appropriate answers, she will fail you. She never responds to anyone she will ask something and not care what you have to say
All you need are forums, everything else is done via connect. Her feedback is helpful, makes you look things at a realistic scope, grading is quick, and content is interesting. She always posts helpful videos and articles to spike your interest even further. I think she is great and would recommend to anyone.
I really enjoyed this instructor. Be sure to participate and there are a lot of assignments but nothing is too extremely hard just be sure to use the text book and you will be fine. Paper due during Week 7 or 8. Most short quizzes or assignments with multiple choice and Midterm and Final also multiple choice. I would take this instructor again.
Run from this prof. Class content and forum questions were substandard. She expected me to use a template that she had a grammatical error in; and then she lowered my grade for her grammatical error! When I asked a question (even a 'yes' or 'no' one) she avoided giving an answer and instead skated around it. Worst prof I've taken at APU.
Absurd
HORRIBLE TEACHER. Don't expect a good grade with her. Read her many reviews. Other professors would be A to A+ work, but barely getting by. She is condescending, inconsistent, instructions are vague, & passive-aggressive comments prove she doesn't care about students. And dare you do not call her Dr., you'll get marked down. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
Class dynamic was very smooth. Final essay was mentioned at the very start of class giving everyone plenty time to select the correct subject. She is willing to work with you on late assignments with reason. Highly recommend.
