Amazing! Absolutely loved taking Calculus with Mrs. Peedin. After attempting to take this class with another professor at UNCC and dropping it, I retook it and ACED everything! She breaks everything down into steps and helps any way she can. Super sweet and knows how to teach! Wish I needed other classes she teaches and I'm not a math person.
She is great lady just not a great professor, always cancelling class and getting behind on the work. Homework online is weeks ahead of what we are learning in class and doesn't make sense. Notes are not exactly thorough and I amalways online looking on how to do homework. I recommend picking a different teacher but if you do have her its ok.
Mrs. Peedin is a really sweet lady. She can be unorganized at times but she will help you if you need help. She teaches straight from the notes posted on Moodle so if you don't get to come to class you can pretty much teach yourself through the notes.
she's so sweet. I really advice taking her class , u wont regret it at all
She was not helpful at all. She often cancelled lecture and have out tests last minute without warning. She was barely available for office hours, and she doesn't teach, she flies through information. I hated her class and I would not take her again.
Don't get discouraged. Sometimes it seems as if she is flying through the lecture, but if you pay attention it really helps. If she is going too fast all you have to do is ask her to slow down. She is a sweet lady, and she really does try her best to help you out in the class.
Professor Peedin's class was extremely easy, and half the time class was cancelled. The homework dates will be changed a million times so don't stress if your assignment wasn't done by 11:59 on the due date. She is very understanding and has an extreme southern accent.
Ms. Peedin was my best professor this semester! She is really understanding and flexible to everyones needs. She really cares about her students and makes sure everyone succeeds. If you listen in class and do the homework like you should, you will do great! Even if you do miss a homework or online test, she will end up pushing back the date.
She is the sweetest lady you will meet. Online homework with Hawkes learning for every section. Cancels class a lot. Very nice and understanding and caring. If you need help GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. Build a relationship with her and she will do her best to help you. I had a C and she dropped assignments in order for me to get a B.
She is pretty goofy and laid back. 3 absence limit. Seems pretty willing to help out if you need clarification on problems but class is mainly just her going over the guided notes problems from the workbook
If you aren't good at math I don't recommend taking this class.
Shana is not only a great professor but an amazing person, as well. She is very caring and genuinely wants her students to do well. She was very accessible outside of class and extremely helpful. Even though she is very laid back, show up! It's impossible to fail if you show up and do the work. Highly recommend!!
I struggle at Math so I would know the difference between a good prof and a bad prof; and Peedin is the worst professor I have had. She constantly corrects herself and moves way to fast during class. Yet somehow, we are behind to the point that homework is on material we wont learn for another week. A nice prof. doesn't mean a good prof. Avoid
Professor Peedin is an awesome professor. She is super nice and caring, wants you to do well and is very helpful. If you do not do the homework you won't learn anything or pass. There are webtests the day before test days and she gives examples of each question you will have to answer.
The best professor by far. Always willing to help and push back due date to accommodate your needs. Genuinely wants you to succeed. Online homework & web tests with multiple attempts, and exams are exactly like the web tests. Attendance is mandatory, but you won't want to miss class and get behind. She's amazing and so sweet!
Professor Peedin is very understanding. If you couldn't complete an assignment on time, she'll reopen it without penalty. If you don't understand something, she will try her best to explain a concept in a way you can understand. She cancels class and office hours a lot. The homework is harder than the examples in class, so make sure you go to class
Ms. Peedin is a great professor. You can tell genuinely cares about all of her students. Lectures can get kind of boring, since all homework and quizzes are due online. You have to try to fail this class. She's pretty funny and likes to cancel class.
God, I love this professor. She wants everyone to do well in the class so you can retake online exams. Because her motto is that "to learn you have to keep practicing until you have it." At first her teaching style may seem to go by FAST but if you pay attention (don't even look at your phone) it will make sense. LOVE HER SO MUCH!! She is so caring
Mrs. Peedin was the best math teacher Ive ever had. She explains everything clearly and in detail. You can retake quizzes, homework, and tests up to 10 times if theyre online. 2/3 tests were online and all very easy. She is so nice and truly cares about her students. I wish she taught every math course and I could not recommend her enough.
Professor Peedin is a great professor and I would highly recommend her for (BUSN) Calculus. She does a really good job in explaining the material and was very helpful outside of class whenever I had questions with homework. We utilized the Hawkes Learning Software mostly which is a good learning tool.
Easiest A you will ever get. If you somehow don't get an A, you either didn't do the homework, or you are just stupid. Everything is online. Just use mathway. Didnt pay a wink of attention in class and got an A comfortably. Class is a joke. Take it for an easy A. Take someone else if you want to learn the material.
She makes sure you understand everything about the class and makes it very simple to follow.
She is a nice woman and she is really good at explaining her work and going through the steps. She gives out a quiz each week that isn't too hard. Also, her tests are very similar to the hw assigned.
she is a great teacher for math. she makes everything easy to understand. she is an amazing teacher for math. the best math teacher
Willing to help and occasionally lenient. Also very nice to have a conversation with.
She's such a sweet lady, but her teaching style wasn't my favorite. She provides extensions on missed work. She expects students to print out notes (no biggie) and goes directly off of them. She doesn't explain the problems very well and moves on very quickly. If you struggle with math, the learning center will be your best friend.
She has a southern accent. That made her a lot easier for me to understand, especially compared to most STEM professors, who tend to have English as their second language. Her lectures are very helpful, but expect to learn most of the material online anyway.
Professor Peedin is by far the best choice for business calc. Half of the tests are online with three or more attempts. There is a good amount of homework but it is all online and you have unlimited attempts. She is very nice and understanding. If you need to miss a test she will easily let you retake it at another time.
Very kind professor; cares
Easiest math class I've ever taken. Majority of assignments are online. Knows what she is talking about and is very helpful. However, her voice is soft and lectures will make you sleepy. Drops a lot of the grades. Wants all students to pass with an A.
best and easiest professor Ive had. All the hw is online on hawks with unlimited attempts, most exams are online also through hawks, which she gives you multiple attempts on. The practice exam questions are pretty much the same as the hws and the exams so this class is pretty easy to get an A in. she drops 4 lowest hw grades and one exam grade.
GREAT professor. She is very understanding that we are all adults and life happens. I am taking her again for 1120 and she explains material well and does a great job helping you outside of class. Homework/assignments are online based with flexibility for extensions.
Professor Peedin is the best!! We took two in class tests and two online tests. You get four absences until you are penalized. The homework is all online and you have unlimited attempts. Lectures could get boring but overall Professor Peedin made the class enjoyable and an easy A!!
Professor Peedin is so sweet and a really understanding person! She gives a few assignments a week, but the lowest late grade you can get is a 70. Attendance is mandatory, but she cancelled class a lot. 2/3 of our tests and 75% of the final were online. The way she teaches can be a little confusing but she definitely wants everyone to succeed!
Professor Peedin is so nice! She wants all her students to do well, I'm not good at math at all and I got an A in her class. She drops so many assignments, absences and more. She even cancels class all the time!! TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT AN EASY A
Professor Peedin is so sweet! She really cares about her students. She always offers help. All exams were online and she adds extra credit.
Chose her because of the good ratings but then a week after the class started, she dropped the class for the rest of the semester. The whole class already bought the expensive math book that she said was necessary and we couldnt even change the class or sign up for another since it was past due date for class change when she decided to leave.
very kind, sweet, and helpful
The best math professor at UNC Charlotte by far. I recommend this class to anyone who needs Math1120. She is caring and really looks after her students in and out of class.
Professor Peedin was a great teacher and lectured well. I learned a lot in this course although it was fully online from Covid-19. Her tests were easy and the homework wasn't bad. She really accommodated us because it was fully online. She was easily accessible outside of class. I would highly recommend this course.
I like dr. Peedin's class until the end when she bombarded us with the hardest part of the PreCalc class. Do not buy the university 70 dollar notes but you will need the Hawkes code. Overall okay but homework is a lot at times.
Doctor Peedin's class has a good amount of Hawkes assignments but she will work with you on due dates. Her lectures are always more interesting and interactive than other math professors I have had.
She is such a kind professor, I was really worried about calculus but she talks you through it and you can ALWAYS reach out for help. The homework is on hawkes, so it is manageable and easy to get ahead. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Peedin is very kind, knowledgable, and the material is easy to understand. You have ample opportunity to prepare and study for the actual tests, so take advantage of the practice tests. The lectures are helpful and will help with the homework assignments. Workload isn't too bad as long as you are keeping up on schedule. Would take again!
She is very nice. Extends test deadlines if needed. Strict attendance policy for an online class (mandatory cameras, 5% off final grade for each missed class after 2 absences.) I also very much hated her grading - Each late day on homework is 10% off and she didn't update grades to reflect it once.
Prof. Peedin has been one of the most caring and genuine professors I have had to date. She is so sweet in her lectures and always makes sure you understand the concept. She also truly cares about an individual, very flexible with homework and tests. There were lots of homework, don't get behind on those. Would take Peedin again if I could.
Professor Peedin is so patient and really cares about her students. She had office hours 4 days a week and would also meet at other times if needed to answer questions and help explain concepts. If you are taking online class you need to have webcam on for attendance. I would take her again.
Literally wont answer you outside of class Missed a week of class and when she told us she was missing she didnt tell us until 5 minutes before it started When she got back she didnt work very hard to get us back on track
Does not respond to any emails, completely just abandoned my class for a week and a half when we had an exam coming up. Instead of reviewing for the exam, she started teaching the next subject when the whole class still didn't know the last few subjects of the exam, since she disappeared from our class for a week.
Professor Peedin is amazing. Although her lectures are long, they don't feel long at all. She explains the material in a way that's very easy to understand. She's super chill and understanding as well. Always keep an eye on your email, especially the hours prior to class, since she sometimes has to cancel or has to do class via zoom. Easy A!
A fast teacher but overall easy to learn. Given many opportunities to practice the material and really get it down. Practice tests are also in the format of official tests which is awesome. She does cancel class a lot and reroute to an online setting which no one goes to, just be prepared not to know what to do if you miss the lecture or notes.
Professor Peedin was very nice and answered promptly and definitely cares about her students, but her teaching methods were not that good. A lot of times, we had to correct her on what she was teaching and it got really confusing. The math material is nothing like the tests, but that's probably a course issue.
Professor Peedin is a good professor if you do the work and homework especially you should do fine. MAKE SURE TO DO THE HOMEWORKS. She can sometimes move too fast but she is always happy to go back and if you ask for help she will gladly help you. Overall good professor and not bad class.
I took Dr. Peedin in the spring 2021 semester and I really enjoyed her class. She is really sweet and wants the best for all of her students. She teaches really well. Take the guided notes in class and study them. The tests are the exact problems as the practice tests just different numbers/words (the process is the same). Take her!
Wasnt always in-person so was more prone to distraction. She can move a little fast but is very clear in explaining and will help in/out of class if needed.
she is very nice and very understanding. if you cant complete something or make it to class she is very easy going about that and will work with you. very interactive and friendly and will joke with students. homework and tests on hawkes but in person final. posts everything online but still is worth going to class. sometimes switches to zoom.
She was a very caring and nice professor. She does take attendance and it is for a grade. Her tests are exactly like the homework. Would highly recommend taking her.
Prof Peedin's class was great. She is kind, caring, accommodating and willing to help. Assignments were through Hawkes Learning with around 3 assignments per week. I would take her class again.
Dr Peedin is very warm and polite and teaches very clearly. I loved being in person for her lectures, the only issue is that half of our lectures ended up being online. I know some of these occurrences were for very good reasons but some were just because "it might rain today" so if you cant focus online just be aware of that.
Greatest math professor I have ever had. She was overly caring, kind, and did everything in her power to help me succeed, regardless of how bad I was at math. Would recommend her to anybody.
Professor Peedin is extremely helpful and caring, the material can be difficult and the homework doesn't always match up to the in class lectures. There are 3 tests and most of the grades are homework, so it can be hard to raise your grade if you don't do well on a test.
Not only does she make you purchase 150$ worth of textbooks, but she also cant teach. Peedin goes too fast, explains things in the most complicated way and just advises us to "seek tutoring" if were falling behind but our school only allows tutoring once a week which is nowhere near enough to keep up with her oppressive work.
Peedin is super sweet. There is a lot of work, though. There is a lot of content to go over in Pre-Calc, so each day you will be learning a lot of new stuff. Then there are the Hawkes assignments which can go on for a long time, and are kind of annoying. If you want to pass, do the work, take notes, practice, and make sure you study for the tests.
I love Prof Peedin. She is a really caring and sweet professor. Lectures are important, she does cancel class sometimes so be sure to check before going to campus. She does take attendance. 3 tests + final + hw multiple times a week. Allows for a pretty good grade if you stay on top of your work. She is just really sweet and wants to help you!
Was very inconsistent and would often cancel class at the very last second, also had her due dates for assignments all over the place and very unevenly spread out which made things significantly more difficult.
Prof Peedin is a really kind woman and good at teaching math. She can be really fast-paced but there is a lot of material to get through. There is a lot of homework, at least 2-3 a week. The tests count for a majority of your grade so if you are not good at tests don't take the class.Due dates were changed very sporadically with very little/no warning
Mrs. Peedin is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Her teaching is clear and makes learning easy. She also answers questions thoroughly, and really goes the extra mile to make sure you understand how a problem was solved. A decent amount of homework on Hawkes, but she doesn't take off points for it being late. 10/10 recommend.
This class was a mess. From week one I was given a zero for an assignment, we never needed to do; it took an entire semester of reminding her to exempt it. Some online tests have questions without answers. Homework, lectures, and classes are always up in the air. Despite an easy curriculum, these issues make this class stressful for no reason.
Mrs. Peedin is very good about explaining things and showing shortcuts for how to do things without making things seem convoluted. The tests were all fill in the blank and there was no multiple choice which was kind of difficult but the practice tests she assigns are extremely similar to the tests in class. Always encourages seeing her for help.
Highly unresponsive to emails// she made a lot of mistakes throughout the semester and held off grading, which could cost you a lot of points.
Don't be fooled by the high rating. Although she is a good teacher, she made a lot of mistakes in this class such as cancelling class at last minute, changing due dates, etc. This class can be stressful at times. I recommend you take someone else.
Math is not my strong suit but professor Peedin did a great job explaining topics. She definitely went a little slow with explaining things in a more difficult way than necessary. Overall I did really enjoy this course. She did not care if homework was turned in late just as long as you got it done!
A good amount of homework, but a super manageable class, and an amazing professor.
I do not know if it is the Math department or the professor. The homework (Hawkes) never matched the tests. All homework is busy work and she teaches other things in class. I do not know if she even knew what we assigned most of the time.
Teacher was always canceling class and unreliable.
Made calc easy to understand. Homework and tests are done on Hawkes. Studying the practice tests given helps a lot on the tests. Super caring and wants you to succeed.
Very smart professor. She has health issues so occasionally class will be canceled/online. Calculus is very difficult for me but she explains things well and does everything she can to make things easier for her students. I would recommend her! I wish I had taken a smaller class, just my personal preference, but she is very nice.
The best math professor I have ever had. Such an amazing women who truly cares about the success of her students and her students as individuals. We used Hawkes for all assignments including tests. Tests were very similar to the mandatory practice tests. Overall such an amazing professor and I would recommend for anyone who is taking calculus.
This calculus class was great! She is a great professor and explains everything very well. The homework due dates are VERY flexible with her (you could do it a month late if you really wanted to). She takes attendance but I'm unsure if it is graded. Everything is done through a textbook ($20) and Hawks. Take this class with her if you can!!!
She is a really good teacher and explains things well, but she is unreliable. The class was canceled 3 times and was moved to virtual 4 times during the semester. She also cancels her office hours a lot and tells us to go to the UCAE or the preceptor's office hours
Actually cares for her students. I loved her class and wish the entire math department was like her.
If you are planning to take business calc, you should highly consider professor Peedin. She is very kind and cares about her students. Class was quite easy consisting of hawkes assignments, three major tests, and the final exam. (hawkes does not see when tabs are switched out of on homework, tests, etc) do what you will with that information. :)
Professor Peedin is a phenomenal professor. Her teaching style is concise and clear and the tests are verbatim the homework/ practice tests. She doesn't take late work on homework which is nice because it allows you to do the work at your own pace. Don't skip too many of the homeworks as they will add up quick. Overall great class.
