Funny guy, when he's in class he talks about almost anything. Expects you to be in the lab at least 3+ hrs a week. If you put forth the effort, he'll recognize it. If you miss class, he definitely notices and it WILL effect your grade. Never once used the textbook--waste of money to buy unless you want to keep it for personal use.

Shane is awesome. Do your work, come to class, get an A. And DON'T buy the book. He tells you not to on the first day of class.

My professor for intermediate ceramics was awesome. He is very educational and helps you learn the techniques needed for ceramics. He has good tips and makes it easy to pass the class. You just have to show up and get your work done! I liked the class and the professor. The whole environment was laid back.

I took the advanced ceramics class from Shane and really enjoyed it. He gives good demos that really help in your throwing techniques and gives good ideas for future projects. You need to show up to get projects done, but he's pretty lenient when it comes to when you come in. If you get the project done, you're good. Overall really fun class.

Shane is so great! He let our class have a ton of creative freedom, but I also felt like he was there to jump in if we had questions. Offers extra credit. He's friendly and seems eager to demonstrate. He will also help with random techniques that you're interested in outside of the coursework. You can really tell that he loves his job and ceramics.

If you're into art, it's an easy A, all you have to do is try your best. He is very generous with grading. If he can tell it's your best work, he'll give you a good grade. He wants all his students to succeed and you can tell.

I think that he is actually a really good professor! He expects quality work, but it is not that hard to get there. For this class he doesn't grade below an 80 on any of the pieces. He sometimes is hard to find during class, because he is working on other things around the building. But he is helpful when you can find him.

He is a great teacher, and allows you to do your work. Likes to converse sometimes it gets distracting. I only wish with critiques he would be clearer in how and what to do different and give positive with the negative. Sometimes I dont know what he thinks of my stuff.

He's a good teacher who gives you a lot of time to complete your projects, but I wish he was more accessible during class. He was in and out most days or had other stuff to work on, so I felt like I was on my own for most of the semester. He's a nice guy and knows a lot about ceramics, but I struggled as a beginning ceramics student.

Great Professor and excellent thrower. Clearly demonstrates the steps involved and let's you go for it. He's fairly hands off for most of class to let you focus on your projects, but he is always helpful and will give you tips or reminders when you need them. He's funny friendly and chatty. Spend time working out of class or you'll stress.

Shane is very experienced in his field. He lets students figure out things for themselves. There is a lot of open studio time after classes to get work done, so use it. He tells funny stories. He is honest about how he critiques your work, but he doesnt make you feel bad.

Shane is a stud of professor. He's a way easy grader. If you have everything done by the end of the semester, you'll be fine. He's got good, solid advice which roots in his extensive amount of experience so he'll help you make your pots bigger and better than ever. He's so cool too. 10/10 would recommend.

It's a very easy class if you show up every time, especially if you have had previous experience in ceramics. Even if you don't, it is still an easy class. The attendance points are worth more than the projects themselves. He is very nice and very helpful to all of his students. He seems to love what his does. Highly recommended.

You have to show up to class because he takes attendance everyday which counts to your grade. Don't miss 4+ times or it will really bring your grade down.

Christensen is a legit ceramics professor. I took this class as an elective with no talent in art, so I was expecting the worse. Professor Christensen teaches very well. He provides good examples of art work and shows step by step how to complete each type of pot that is required in his ceramics class. I learned a lot and now have a greater appreciation for ceramics and the skill required to make good pottery. I also thought that this was a fun class that I would take again.

Hes a great teacher that knows what he is talking about, he also gave very detailed step by step tutorials on how to do specific tasks (pulling handles, throwing bottles, etc.) and he always had interesting stories to talk about and it made the class even more fun, I would recommend him for anybody looking to increase their overall ceramics skills

I loved taking ceramics this semester! It's safe to say that I knew absolutely NOTHING about ceramics before taking this class, but Professor Christensen guided me every step of the way! I was disappointed when the semester was cut short due to the coronavirus, but am excited to take it again next semester! Would highly recommend taking!

Mr. Christensen will always do demonstrations when asked. He explains how to throw very specifically. He allows you to use your creativity and do projects you want to do. If you want to pass you have to show up and do all of the projects. Work is mostly done on the wheel. Overall he was a good professor but he doesnt let crappy work slide

I have LOVED this course. It makes me want to quit my job and take up pottery out in the country someplace. I am excited to take the next course level. As long as youre working during class time and ask questions when needed, its a very easy class. You do need to have craftsmanship so be ready to really do your best in order to get good grades.

Took this as an elective during my last semester, and I really wish I would have started ceramics a lot sooner because of this teacher. He gives you lots of time and demonstrations to learn from him. Take his experience for granted and use him as much as you can to perfect your craftsmanship!

Shane is really patient, does lots of demonstrations and doesn't grade harshly. He understands most people taking beginner ceramics arent gonna be very good so as long as you're trying and showing up to class, you should be just fine. Don't give up. Just keep putting that clay on the wheel and trying. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Honestly you need to if you want to be able to finish all of your projects in time (and to get better). Would take again.

Shane was always willing to help and give feedback to help improve each students projects. He gave easy to understand demos and the whole class was able to stay on track thanks to Shane's great advice.

Definitely don't skip class, if you show up everyday you'll pass the class. He gives really good critiques without sounding patronizing. Very straightforward. You may have to come in outside of class time to finish assignments, but if you show up everyday you won't really need to.

Professor Shane is amazing! He teaches in a way that inspires his students to use their own creativity. I loved his class and would definitely take it again!

Great class beware of learning curve if you have never done ceramics before. Attendance is the most Important thing, you have to go to class.

Mr. Christensen is super willing to help his students and give feedback. In order to get a good grade in this class make sure that you consistently keep going or else it is really easy to fall behind.

Professor Christensen was great! He gave great feedback that would help you to improve on your next pieces. He was also great about giving reminders and making sure that you were on top of assignments. Attendance really matters, if you miss even a few classes you will miss important demonstrations and also it will really bring your grade down.

He is a great professor. He really knows how to make things in ceramics and is willing to help you when you need help. There are "due" dates but as long as you complete everything before the end of the semester, you will be graded fully. Highly suggest taking a class from Shane.

heavy on the attendance policy and doesn't hold themselves to the same standard leaves early shows up late and misses days besides that he really does care about the students and the creative process and will work with you to create your vision.

I have taken two other classes from Professor Shane. He is very helpful when you have a question or concern. He is very encouraging and informational if you want to try something new and is always willing to help/demonstrate so you can complete your project. Gives good feedback and shows/explains anything that he thinks you can improve on.

Definitely has a lot of even cross-cultural knowledge on ceramics, and knows an effective solution for almost any problem you may have with a pot. Willing to help you succeed, friendly, and obviously cares for his students. Great demos!

Shane was a great professor. I took ceramics in high school but he taught me a lot more than I knew before. Attendance matters for this class but the time goes by really quick when you're working on your pieces. He played music during class and he tells a lot of stories that are always interesting to hear about. Really great guy and professor.

I came into this class feeling very discouraged because ceramics has always been really hard for me, but Shane is so helpful and encouraging and willing to demo and he helped me grow my skills so much. He also tells a ton of great stories, and has so much knowledge.

You can tell that he really loves ceramics, and the class is super fun. I've taken several ceramics courses before, and he is by far my favorite professor so far. You'll probably have to come in several times outside of class time, but all in all a great professor and a fun course.

The class and Professor were amazing! The class was pretty difficult at the beginning of the semester but was able to get a hang of everything. Class is mandatory in able to get work done and it's recommended to go to class on the weekend to not get behind. Shane was very engaging with every student and didn't pick favorites.

Shane's ceramics classes are great. He is very good at teaching ceramics, and keeps the classes engaging. I have taken multiple ceramics classes taught by Shane, and I would highly recommend his classes to anyone interested.

Shane is very passionate about ceramics and has a lot of knowledge on the subject. His class is fun, he's a cool guy. You definitely have to put the work in the get all of your pieces made by the end of the semester. I wouldn't say that this is a super challenging class, though.

I really enjoyed the ceramics class that I took from Shane. He seems really strict at first but it's just a front, he's actually really funny and chill. I would definitely take another class from him. You can tell that he's spent a lot of time perfecting his craft and that influence is worth a million.

I took this beginning ceramics class over the summer and loved it! The professor was very professional and showcased a lot of skill in his craft. That being said I have taken ceramics before, but I was barely able to get everything done in time for the final, so I would advise taking the class seriously and showing up as much as possible.

Classroom is relaxed and you have a lot of creative freedom within the assignments. He is easy to work with if you talk with him. He will demonstrate anything you want to see if you just ask.

I have enjoyed my class with Professor Shane Christensen I am on my second year classes with ceramics. Shane is an amazing artist and shows some fantastic demos. it has been well worth it for me to take this class I have learned so much.

This class was somewhat hard to me since i'm new to ceramics but Shane was great. He's clear about what he expects and what you need to do. He'll demonstrate anything multiple times and give feedback.

I took this class in the summer and rarely had to come in outside of class, when I needed something outside of class he was easy to contact and was very flexible to help me. He had lots of demos available and he often repeated in order to help everyone catch up. When people were struggling he was quick to help them improve! 10/10 would take again!
