The best bad jokes and corny puns, but truly loves math. Will help you 1 on 1 if you need it. The test are well setup and can be easly studied for.

I am in awe of his knowledge of the TI-83, and has opened up the world of Excel to me. Thanks to his teaching I now carry around a TI-83 around with me in my pocket where ever I go. Bad jokes, but goes the extra mile as far as teaching.

Bro. Goodwin is the ONLY professor that has actually taught me how to use my calculator. I took 110, 111 & 112 with him, he's a great professor.

Bro Goodwin has a passion for what he does. He is so smart, how many teachers in this department research the history of math? It is an exciting class to be in, however his test can be tricky.

I really learned a lot through his class and loved the course, but I thing he weighs exams far too heavily. I had the highest grade in the class prior to the final, and ended up dropping 5 percent after it. I studied for hours for the final too.

Nice, Nice guy. Funny very dry sense of hummor, tells the corniest jokes i have ever heard, but he knows that they are so it makes them funny. He also like the song 100 Years, and you learn how it relates to math. I fail 3 of the 4 tests and still got a B, but i did ALL of the HW and did well on the projects. TAKE BROTHER GOODWIN!

He's great. Explains material very well and truely cares about his students. He learn everyone's name in the class and gave extra creidt if he forgot. Gives extra credit for extra work on tests, and gives you a chance to earn points back on tests. I would highly recommend him. It's too bad he isn't teaching my next math class.

Math 108 with Brother Goodwin is the best. He really is interested in what the students will take away with from his class, I always thought his class was too short for how much supplemental material he had. He has real life experiences which apply the class and to each of us. I now know how much credit card debt can hurt, etc. In question? take

Take Bro. Goodwin for stats! He doesn't do much with SPSS, but what he lacks there he makes up for with his knowledge of the TI graphing calculator (His "Weapon of Math Instruction"). Bro. Goodwin is very knowlegable and helpful, plus his jokes and puns will keep you awake through the class hour!

I hated math and always struggled. I got a D- in a Math 99 (pre-algebra), and that was after taking Trig/Pre-Cal in High school. I came to BYUI 5 years later, took 101 from Goodwin and am getting an A. He is funny, and easy to understand. He has a talent for picking the most crucial problems for in class practice. Keeps you awake and interested.

Great teacher. He explains thing very well. Tests were made to make you think and apply what you have learned. If you study they can be easy. He knows we make mistakes and sometimes allows us to add points and earn some back.

Bro. Goodwin really cares about his students and shows it. On our first test he credited some points back to us because he wants to be as fair as possible. He teaches math well, and you don't feel stupid for asking a question. Plus, he has just hilarious jokes regarding math...as previous students have mentioned :)

Bro. Goodwin's pretty chill. I took his trig class 2nd block, and it was way fun. Bro Goodwin's teaching style is more like, "I'll choose a problem from the book and solve it on the chalkboard", so you basically teach yourself. But he's a good teacher, and definitely willing to help the student out. I'd recommend him only if you're good at math.

Good teacher! Math is not my forte, but Bro Goodwin provided great real life applications which greatly helped me understand, and maybe enjoy math. maybe. homework is daily, but it really helps to learn. He cares about all the students. I've heard about other math profs and he is the best!

Very good at making math fun and doable. Really willing to work with you. Only lack of clarity is on the projects because of the speed in which he explains the directions but the directions are crystal clear online. Gives every opportunity to learn if you are willing to put forth the effort. The workload is moderate as expected.

Interesting guy. Loves to see his class smile. Im Not a Math guy but he caught my attention when he used Comic strips that delt with math. He also used visual examples that helped me learn. Go to test reviews It helps. Study the book It helps.

This guy is a great professor, he teaches math for the real world and helps us learn the math that we will actually use. He is funny too, and I dont ever get sleepy in his class.

Do NOT take Bro. Goodwin IF you are a Laker's fan. (For some reason he supports the Jazz) Other than that he is a really good teacher. He takes pride in his job and teaches you all the material in a way that is easy for you to understand.

He is a really charismatic teacher that is able to draw the attention of the class. I believe that he teaches well and understands many different ways to do one problem which really helped. He does like to get into his stories, but hey, I love 'em. They keep the class from getting boring! Don't take him if you like to skip class. True Story!

Brother G is such a hero! i hated math before him but he tells jokes and makes it a blast! you will have to go to the math lab a bit but it is so worth it! he is helpful if you go ask him and i learned a TON because of him! and i am going to keep taking him for other math classes! he is good no doubt, he makes mistakes but who doesnt?

He's a great teacher. I really enjoyed his class and found that I learned a lot. The study guides are extremely helpful, and he'll work with you in class on anything you're having trouble with. He really wants to make sure that each student succeeds.

I love Goodwin, even though i missed like 5 times his class and i didnt receive the boost score thingy he does i still got an A, he gives homeworks everyday but is not so hard, he is funny charismatic. Definitely take math with him :]

He is dedicated to the success of his students. However, sometimes that requires work and effort on the part of the student. He requires homework to be submitted, gives 2-3 quizzes a week, and writes a pretty mean exam. However, everything is to help you learn and if you give the effort, you'll understand the material and pass without a problem.

Excellent teacher! He always available during office hours to help with any questions. Everything he teaches is crystal clear and he has you do problems in class to make sure you have it down before class is over. He's funny and helps you keep interest in what you're learning. Bro. Goodwin FTW.

Awesome teacher. I'm not a fan of most math classes, but I actually enjoyed coming to this one. Gives lots of opportunities to do well and is completely available to the students for assistance. Has worked with textbook authors for other classes he teaches to ensure good, understandable material.

If you really study the practice tests and do ALL your homework you will get an A easily. He is very good and lets you use your calculator!

I loved Brother Goodwin! I usually hate math, but he makes class fun and exciting and is hilarious and helps you understand the material very well. Allows a note card on the tests and truly wants you to succeed. Just make sure to read the book and do the projects and it'll be a super easy class!

Brother Goodwin is the best. His class is so entertaining and he teaches very clearly. Quizzes are collaborative and you grade your own homework and are allowed to rework the problems for full credit. His knowledge of the calculator is extremely helpful. His tests are a little difficult, but he allows a notecard, so they're not impossible.

I really like Him himself but his class is ridiculously hard, Class average on the tests were about 60% and there was never a modification or curve or anything. He is funny and tries hard to teach and is very sincere but his tests are crazy hard. Take with a little caution you will need to work 2hours per class which is everyday.

The homework is super easy, but the tests do take some studying--more than just assuming you know the material because you paid attention in class. Overall, this class was fantastic.

Probably the best one to take MAT108 from. We all know this class is sometimes ridiculous but Goodwin at least helped make things easier for us. Probably learned the most from the excel projects just because it actually put what you learned into a real life setting. Did the pilot program so we didn't spend 100 bucks on MyMathLab. Just take him!

Brother Goodwin is a phenomenal person. He is kind and generous and his classes are just fun to be in. He can get a little distracted sometimes, but it's all in good fun. He's excellent at teaching the subject as a whole, but he's not great at answering specific questions. Not too much homework.

Sometimes he tries to help a lot that he has no time to teach a new content and that's the only issue. He is great to help students to have a good understanding about what his teaching and HE CARES!!!

This guy is fantastic!!! (I've rated before, but made a mistake and couldn't fix it after I posted). He's helped me to be a master of my ti-86. He's always willing to help. The study guides he provides for exams are extremely helpful. He has effective memory tools #RampeumptomRule. I've learned so many concepts that I did not understand. :-D

In this class calculators are a crutch that we rely heavily on. I know that we have limited time, but we always learn the calculator first and if the understanding is addressed it is usually a side note. I feel like it should be the other way around. Excessive reliance on calculators makes the class less efficient for learning for many reasons.

Brother Goodwin is awesome! He's funny and always willing to give help. You grade your own homework and quizzes. Quizzes are also collaborative. You get a notecard for every test. You have off class the day the the test closes and he does optional review sessions. I saw a tutor every day cause I'm not very good at math but he's a great teacher!

Great Professor. Math is my worst subject and I tend to hate it. Even with my ADD he kept my attention and made everyone in the class comfortable to ask questions Also he has so many online help tools and he's always willing to help. Attendance gives you 5% extra credit! He truly made made Math 108 bearable.

Goodwin was amazing. This is a 5 day a week class, yet he made me excited for my math class everyday. He taught the material well and went over homework problems with the class, but also shared funny stories and historical material as appropriate. He is wonderfully well rounded. He is a great teacher. If you take him it is recommended that you have TI calculator, either 84 or 89.. He always encourages his students to excel.

I appreciate Bro. Goodwin's requirement that you pay attention in class. Otherwise I would spend most of class surfing the web or texting my buds. He is very kind when he has to remind people of the policy. He was even patience with one crazy girl who wouldnt stop texting during the lectures. I'm addicted but not that bad :-)

Brother Goodwin does a great job of making his class very practical and applicable to life outside of the classroom. The vehicle loan project was especially useful to me. He is super funny and makes coming to class more enjoyable. One of the best math classes I've ever had.

Brother Goodwin is awesome! He takes the time to learn everyone's name in a class of 50 students and is very willing to help with homework. He knows his stuff very well and his calculator knowledge is better than any other teacher i've ever had. His tests are tough, but he's very fair on grading and his homework isn't too bad either.

Overall he made my time in calc not so bad. He does have pretty hard tests but they are made easier with the amount of partial credit he gives. There is homework every day and if you get behind on that expect the class to get much harder. His lectures can sometimes run long as he tries to explain everything needed for the homework. I can't stand math. And frankly, its not too fond of me either. But Brother Goodwin made this class come alive. His teaching is clear, engaging, and he is hilarious. The things he teaches are actually applicable to life, and he makes things easy on you. Lots of homework, but you can get 125% on quizzes if you get 55. I would take all math from him

He is an awesome teacher. Its a subject that prior to the class I had a serious understanding of before I came. He is a great teacher and keeps things interesting. Really takes time to answer questions on hard Calculus concepts. Tests are tough, but fair. He thoroughly covers all the material on the test if you listen and pay attention in class.

Brother Goodwin really is there to help you pass the class. It doesn't matter how bad you are at math, if you seek help from him you will receive and there will be a way to get through this devil math class that is required! Attendance is not mandatory, BUT is extra credit on the tests, so it is recommended. Good teacher, keeps things interesting.

Took his block class. Fast paced. He knows his stuff and is very kind/funny; he'll often tell stories/share cartoons/try to make class fun. But I would often get bored and lose focus. The thing that sucks about this class is I had to do a lot of teaching myself from the textbook at home, but it's not very hard if you try (and I suck at math).

I've enjoyed every lecture I've been in. I wish I wasn't sick this semester, so I could've made more classes. Hilarious teacher, hands on, makes occasional mistakes on the board. So I've taken his class as a block class. I love this professor, he's fantastic! But expect homework. We usually have 30-50 homework a lot. His tests are pretty tough, but he's there to go over your test after or whenever you need help. He's the best math teacher I've ever had.

He cares about the students and while he uses class time wisely, he will take time to teach you something not for this class but possibly helpful in the future and to make jokes. He also knows how to explain things in more than one way to increase understanding.

By far the best teacher I have had here at BYUI. He teaches very well and makes sure you know the concepts and will go through any questions you have. You can go over each test with him during his office hours. If you do the hw (Which isn't a ton) understand the concepts, then you'll get an A. Take him. You will not regret it.

Brother Goodwin is in my top 2 fav. teachers. He is dedicated to helping students pass. You can pass, and with flying colors if you just try. He is very understanding, and fair in grading. Also, take advantage of extra credit :) We didn't go over many specific questions that students had in class.. But you can visit his office for 1 on 1 help.

I love Brother Goodwin. He tends to go on tangents during lecture, however he always tries to teach you something each day. He grades his tests pretty easily, however he has never curved a test. I found myself in the math lab every single day. He gives you good study guides for the tests. If you want a good grade in his class, you have to try hard.

Bro Goodwin is an EXCELLENT teacher. I Highly recommend his class. The class can be tough with daily homework and almost weekly tests which is normal for 109 but he is a lenient and fair grader. Math is not my subject at all, but Brother Goodwin made it tolerable. He's such a funny guy & keeps the frustration that accompanies math at bay. He explains things clearly & tries his best to make sure everyone understands the material. Group quizzes will help your grade a ton, so go to class! Good amount of homework but that helps too. I loved taking this class. Brother Goodwin was very helpful and answered any questions he was asked. He did his best to make sure his students were prepared for the tests. I do not think that there is a better Precalculus teacher on campus!

He is probably my favorite professor at this school. He is super dedicated to helping students succeed, and his lectures are fantastic. He has years experience teaching math and it really shows. The tests are difficult, but if you pay attention in class, and study hard you will succeed in his class.

The first couple weeks he will come off confusing or uncaring but the moment add/drop deadlines pass, he is all in and gives amazing lectures. He might be a little political but he knows his stuff. If you're willing to work/put in effort, he loves to help. He's not everyone's cup of tea but he is a funny and great professor to learn from.

Your best bet is to review each section's explanations and then use the exercises provided in the text book. Use class to ask question that you didn't understand on your own. I'm one that will ask all the questions until I understand it because I know I'm not the only one lost.

Great teacher, really helps if you visit his office hours. he knows the material and teaches it well. The course is reasonably hard and fast paced though. He does a bunch of projects that really bring together the chapter.

Bother Goodwin is a great teacher that takes his time and makes sure you understand the material. He is also quite comical.

Be ready for "DAD JOKES". He's hilarious just like you dad would be. He is a good professor, although he spends a bit too much time in stories or funny jokes, but he won't make you fail the class unless you make no effort. It's a hard class, but I would take class with him anytime.

I've had Brother Goodwin for Math 109 and 112 and he's an amazing math teacher. He cares about his students and encourages us to you technology while learning. He is the only 112 teacher that allows you to use a graphing calculator and Desmos on exams. His tests are tough, but if you take notes and pay attention, you'll do great.

Brother Goodwin is awesome! I took a 5 credit class from him but he made it worth it every day. He is always willing to answer questions to make sure everybody understands! He teaches in a caring and funny style! When it comes to grading, he gives you many chances! If you come to class and do the work, you should have no problems.

His in class discussion are so informative, and he does a nice job of providing adequate help in order to exceed the expectation. You have to take from Br. Goodwin for 108! Brother Goodwin likes to add in parts of the curriculum that were originally used but have been cut by the department and they are extremely useful. Most of class time is spent in lecture. It's good to pay attention, but the online instruction helps too. He finds great ways to incorporate gospel discussion as well.

I LOVED this class! Brother Goodwin is not only hilarious, but is a very good math teacher! I ended the class with a 97 and would 100 percent take a class from him again. He loves math which truly shows in his class and makes it easy to understand for others. Don't waste your time with any other teacher!

Brother Goodwin is so great. If you want a professor with awkward dad humor, total math nerd status, and a great testimony in the gospel, he's a wonderful choice. He adds a few elements to his class that other professors don't, but it's totally worth the extra work because it's made to benefit you in the long run. He does lecture quite a bit.

Hes dope. He has sly little stupid dad jokes that I love and make class so much better. He explains new concepts in a very coherent way and will help you out if you struggle. He also give out stickers he got from his mission to anyone who get 100% on any test, which I think is really cool. Super glad I took him and yes, would take again.

I've always hated math but he definitely made it enjoyable. He was super understanding and caring. He'd play music at the end of class sometimes and show funny pictures throughout the class and the homework. I'd take his class every time!

This has been one of the best classes I have ever taken at school. Brother Goodwin is inspirational and really gets you motivated to learn! His class will take a lot of time with his tests, but he gives you all of the resources necessary to pass the class.

Before taking this class, I couldn't stand math, let alone Pre-Calculus. Professor Goodwin is an exceptional and engaging teacher. There's a lot to cover in the curriculum, but his natural sense of humor and interesting tangents are not only a relief in class but helpful to each topic at hand. I'd gladly take any class from him again.

If there is a perfect model a Math Professor, that is Br. Goodwin. If you have a chance to be his student, please go ahead. He is amazing, kind, understanding and makes the class interactive and not boring. I would take all my math classes with him if it was possible. He makes the most complicated thing seems simple and possible.

Good guy, really loved his class. Would sometimes go on a tangent and made me want to leave class. But he cares about his students and will work with you to see what you can improve on! Do the homework , it will definitely make a difference in your grade. Bro G is a solid teacher, I definitely recommend him!

Brother Goodwin is an amazing professor. He makes math so easy to understand. He is very funny and his lectures are captivating so you can't help but learn. He is the only math teacher I have ever had who understands the side of the student. He works with you from the ground up. He doesn't try to pull you up to his level. He knows his stuff!

This is the second time I have taken his class. He explains equations and formals in ways that YouTube doesn't and books won't. Ask questions, you'll get answers, he likes questions. Paracelsus can be more than a part time job, but Goodwin makes it doable. If you struggle with his class, it's probably you. Fight the waitlist, it's worth the effort.

I was on the fence about him for most of the semester. Many times he just went on a tangent about stuff that wasn't important to class. I felt like I taught myself 90 percent of the material because it wasn't covered in class. He is kind but not the most efficient teacher. There's a reason this class is 5 credits. Don't expect to cruise through.

Taking this class in Zoom is so hard and you will spend almost every day of the week doing homework. Brother Goodwin is caring and he knows a lot about Math, but he may explain things differently from what is required in the exams. Make sure you learn things from MyMathLab homework so you do great in the exams and ask questions all the time.

Brother Goodwin is one of the best professors I've had. He is very clear in his lectures, spotlights the better students but tries to include the majority of the class. He's really good at explaining complex topics and made a tough class fairly manageable. He makes absolutely awful dad jokes and will make political comments semi-often.

Brother Goodwin is amazing! I have never been in love with Math and was worried about this class. Brother G is funny and teaches at a good pace. Like all teachers he makes mistakes but is helpful, not ashamed to go over something that might be confusing. He is very willing to meet you out of class and help. He was quick on emails. Would take again!

Goodwin is a great teacher, but he doesn't offer many practice problems in-class. He is always happy to answer questions both in and out of class.

If you need to take precalculus, then take it from Goodwin. I sat in the front of his class, and had an amazing semester. There is a lot of work in this class, but the good news is that it is easy to catch up mid-semester if you bomb a test. Show up for class. Participate in group work. Do your homework. Also, LGBTQ-friendly.

I took Brother Goodwin for precalc class and he is the best math teacher I've ever had! He prioritizes topics the students are struggling with and teaches around that. The only problem I had with this class was the homework program ALEKS. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are group quizzes in class. Tough topic but awesome teacher!

Mr. Goodwin is one of the best math teachers I have had. Though the ALEKs homework can be quite a burden throughout the week, he is always ready to answer your questions and make sure you understand. He has a fantastic sense of humor (if you're into Dad jokes) and he has many ways of making certain topics easier. Hands down, I highly recommend!

Brother Goodwin is awesome. Homework was fairly easy and the tests were multiple-choice. He is also very funny haha. I definitely recommend him for Math108!

Brother Goodwin is a great teacher who keeps class interesting and really has a love for math. That being said if you are taking math109 several other teachers don't test at all and require only completion of the aleks homework to achieve an A in the course. Brother Goodwin puts a lot of weight into take-home tests that are supposed to take 6 hours

Goodwin is a solid professor who makes the tough material manageable. Though the homework can be time-consuming, he's engaging and always willing to help. Unstuck ai was a great study tool that complemented the textbook well. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.

Brother Goodwin is a great teacher. He gives tons of useful tips if you already studied the class. If you expect him to teach you EVERYTHING you are lost. Excellent for proactive students.

Bro. Goodwin was my fav teacher this fall. He truly cares about his students and he helped me as much as I came and personally asked him questions. Homework is a bit tough, but it is all worth it when you come to class and he makes it make sense.
