This is one of the lower math courses you can take as math is not my strong point. Lowe is an EXCELLENT teacher and always makes sure everyone is on the same page. He makes everyone in the class comfortable enough to get involved in discussion. You NEED the book. Super nice guy and he grades pretty leniently. I would definitely recommend him!

Excellent professor, the atmosphere he creates helps students succeed. As long as you put in the work, you will get out the grade you're wanting. So caring towards his students and learning, take him!!

math has always been my week point but Lowe makes it really simple and easy to understand. dont forget to study vocab bc he usually puts in a couple that you have to know on the tests. you NEED the book. keep up with hw online&book work. he's really good at answering questions and clarifying, even though his classes are huge. overall, great class.

Professor Lowe is AWESOME! there are tons of homework assignments and a quiz every single week, but the quiz questions come straight off the home work assignments so if you do them you're good to go. If you need help he is there for you in a moments notice and gives tons of partial credit on tests. Great professor.

He types out note packets for each class that goes through and explains step by step to make sure his students learn the material and offers extra credit if your grade is struggling. He is super nice! He is so dorky and funny, and he really challenges students but it is helpful so you can get the grade you want! He holds study sessions for hours before the test! Honestly one of the only professors I have had this semester that actually cares.

There is homework after every lecture. Tests can be challenging but he provides reviews. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. If you show up to class and do the homework you will have no problem passing.

Lectures are extremely helpful, so I highly recommend going to every class. Don't really use textbook except for doing homework. Professor Lowe is an excellent professor. There are 4 tests each worth 15% and a final that's worth 20%. Hw is worth 10% and attendance is worth 10%. He gives extra credit and is an easy grader. I struggle with math and ended up making an A in his class. Put in the effort and do your hw and it should be an easy A. He's also always there to help you

Extremely easy class haven't taken a math class in over 3 years passed with a B never did the reviews until the final but I heard there very helpful for the test, also online homework if you don't cheat will help out a lot

Shane really helped with my grade just by going to his office hours and study sessions! Seriously go to class or you won't pass. I only did so bad because I am horrible at math. Holds study sessions for every test. Textbook is optional but you need to take pictures of the pages the homework comes from. Great professor!

Tests are not multiple choice

I am absolutely atrocious at math but managed to get an A- in this class thanks to extra credit and going to SLAC and office hours constantly. Even if youre not a math person I think its possible for just about anyone to do well in this class with enough effort. I was lucky when I took it b/c the tests were multiple choice but I hear thats changed!

Professor Lower is one of the best professors I have had so far. I strongly struggle with math and he helped me through it so much. He cares about his students and I strongly recommend going to his office hours when you need to. Although his exams are not multiple choice, he holds review sessions twice before the test. He also offers extra credit!

His online homework is easy since it's based on completion. He also gives extra credit every Friday if you attent "TMTM" presentations (100 for a HW grade). For his tests, he lets you use a notecard ( both sides). I made an easy A in his class because I literally copied the Study Guide on my notecard with extra small font. EASY A FOR ALGEBRA!!!

Professor Lowe does everything he can to assure that his students pass. He is always there to help if one of his students doesn't understand something and holds study sessions before tests. He offers extra credit every week by attending "talk math 2 me" seminars held of Fridays at noon. He also in my class allowed for test corrections.

Super laid back dude, really down to earth! He would always play classic rock over the speakers in the teaching theatre before class. If you show up to class, the work, and show him you care it'll be the best math class ever!

Prof. Lowe really cares about his students. Bus Cal 2 was very hard for me and he was always available before/after class. Most tutors suck so having him to explain things again really helped. He let us do test corrections on tests that were overall low as a whole. Do the extra credit project bc he will not bump your grade up. Easy extra 5 points.

This was my fourth time taking College Algebra, after dropping it three times at ACC. If you actually sit and do the homework and have the notes printed, it's not difficult. There's three tests and a cumulative final, but there's participation and attendance grades as well. A lot of phone action through TopHat and kept students engaged.

You can tell that he is really good at math, and does the best he can to teach. If you don't understand his lectures then he is ALWAYS willing to help in his office hours. He has a fair amount of homework. I'm usually really bad at math but I have an A right now. He's a good teacher, but if you can't learn in a big class then it may be hard

I have serious learning disabilities and this man has bent over backwards to help me and a few others that have been coming to him on a regular basis since the semester began. I have NEVER had a B in algebra until now & I've never understood Algebra this well. I rarely use my basic calculator. No need to spend BIG $$ on a graphing calculator.

Honestly, Lowe is great guy. He offers a ton of extra credit but he does not do a very good job teaching the material which makes the 3 tests pretty hard. He also drops one test along with a TON of partial credit. Quiz's every week but are easy if you get your stuff done because they are straight from the homework. Take him if you have to.

Lowe is such a good teacher, he offers ALOT of extra credit. The test are only about 10 questions long, but if the whole class had a low average he sometimes adds ten points. He requires you to buy TopHat and ConnectMath but if you do the homework which is about ten questions every class day you'll be fine. Definitely take him.

Mr lowe is the calculus professor you've always dreamed of. Lemme tell you Jack: 3 exams + Final. First two exams you get test corrections to get back half of the points you missed. 3rd one is short and sweet. The final is OPEN NOTES. Yes, you read that correctly. OPEN NOTE FINAL BRUH. Professor Lowe really gives you multiple opportunities to better your grade. He is ALWAYS available for office hours, definitely go to those because he will work with you one and one. You get to use your homework on the quizzes and also a notecard for the tests. Every Friday he gives extra credit and also sometimes lets you do test corrections!!!!

I always struggle with math so this course was a little difficult for me. He offers weekly extra credit where you attend a math lecture and write a paragraph over it. There are 2 weekly assignments, 3 exams and a final. For each exam he lets you use an index card and the final was open note.

Lowe literally spells everything out for you! He offers some (little) extra credit and teaches the material at a slow and comfortable pace. I believe your final exam grade can replace a low test grade. Homework is given, but it's online and super easy and helps your grade! Go to class b/c he takes attendance and uses top hat, for in class grades.

Shane Lowe was an awesome professor, his lectures give lots of examples whats on the exams(4+final exam), one of them is a drop exam and he allows a note card on all of the exams! I would go to every lecture for the top hat points. 11 extra credit to replace low hw grades/ top hat pts. He sounds just like Tom Hanks too.

Has homework every class on connect math, but easy to get a 100, and offers ALOT of extra credit. Even if you don't go to class, do tophat from home because it is a big chunk of your grade. Study for the test, and you will get an A. no excuse not to pass

Amazing teacher! I was scared at first because my MATH1315 teacher was horrible. Quizzes are 3-4 questions from a list of optional assignments. A lot of homework but it really helps practice for the test. Reviews are extra credit. He makes sure his students understand the material. He goes over info in class so you really can't afford to skip.

Meh. He was a good teacher but I found his voice very boring and couldn't concentrate a lot. GO TO CLASS! You will fall behind instantly if you miss a lecture so try to go as much as you can. He posts his slides online which is good for homework purposes but it's hard to learn only based off those and not what he says during class. Easy A overall.

Professor Lowe is a great professor who will help you if you seek it. I was in his office pretty much every day and he helped me for as long as i needed. His assistance helped me pass math finally. I wouldn't recommend taking the class during the pandemic though because he is much better a teacher in person than through a computer.

Classes were all on zoom and attendance is never mandatory. As long as you turn in the online homework and quizzes on time you're all set, and they're open note. I'd definitely take a class with him again. The only frustrating part was that he used an external website for his grading so canvas wasn't always updated.

I usually struggle in math, but Professor Lowe's class was different for me. This class is very material heavy and runs on a tight schedule, but it is manageable. Each module has lecture videos for you to follow with a math packet and has links at the end to get to the Connect assignments and quizzes. He is always available for clarification.

Hard class if you are not good at math. You can tell he is passionate about the subject, so he will make sure to cram every bit of information as possible. He is a nice person, but I get overwhelmed with all of the material needed to learn and I think it is a bit much for a basic core class. He wants you to learn and be successful though!

Honestly, I really enjoyed this class and I am someone who very much despises math. Mr. Lowe is a very kind man, and he wants his students to pass. You have to show up, because if you miss a class, then you are going to be behind, but it's nice to be always working on something new, and if you don't understand then ask for help! :D

For his exams with the test reviews he gives you, even though theyre long, it is definitely worth it in the end with your grade result! If you took calculus in high school, then this class is just a review. This class is super easy as long as you take good notes, if youre not good with math this class may be a little challenging because he covers parts of Cal 1,2, and 3 all in one semester which can be overwhelming. But overall hes a great professor and is really passionate.

I took Precalculus in high school and this is all basic review for me, but I think I'd struggle a lot if I wasn't already familiar with the concepts.

Only take him if you are decent/good at algebra. Long boring lectures and you scan in and out of class. Notes are essentially fill in the blank and homework is online math problems in a program. His tests were easy to me and he allows a notecard cheat sheet. Its hard if you get lost because classes are large but if math was easy in hs youll be ok

Lowe is a pretty good professor and a nice guy, algebra isn't easy to teach efficiently but he does a decent job. He posts video lectures over every subject on top of in person lectures. There's only 3 tests and a final with weekly homeworks. He allows a cheat sheet notecard on the tests. Algebra isn't really be easy, but Lowe is a solid prof.

His test are fairly straight forward and if you do and understand the homework's you should be fine. He offers extra credit for each test so make sure to take advantage. He also is always willing to help students outside of class.

Not going to lie, the class was semi-difficult. His office hours were very accessible and he helped me with the material I was confused about. The test reviews will help you with the exams, and so do them! He also lets you use a notecard for every exam, which is the best because my memorization is not good. overall, he was an incredible teacher.

Honestly a really good professor. You could tell that he cared about you understanding the material and was happily available to help if you didn't. Class is easy to pass and his canvas makes it easy to catch up if you happen to miss.

His lectures are long but very clear. The only thing I had an issue with in his class was keeping up with the homework, but the last few weeks of the semester he reopened all the homework assignments so if you missed any, you had the opportunity to go back and do them to receive full credit

Professor Lowe is a nice guy. He gives you as much partial credit as he possibly can on exams, and he drops numerous grades at the end of the semester. The material is challenging, but if you do the work, you'll pass.

Best professor at Texas State! Yes the material is hard and you NEED to come to class or else you will not pass. But he gives a TON of extra credit on tests and he drops many of your lowest homework and quizes. He cares a LOT about his students and holds really helpful study sessions before every test. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Professor Lowe was incredible. He offered numerous extra credit opportunities to improve grades. It is impossible to pass this course without showing up. There was a quiz every Wednesday based on the material learned on Monday. This course was very test heavy, about 51% of the grade. Overall, this Professor was great at lecturing and helping you.

I am very bad at algebra but still managed to pass this class. I failed every test.. Lowe gives many extra credit opportunities, which is the reason I was able to pass. At the end of the semester he drops low homework & quiz assignments. There are lecture quizzes every class, they're an easy A. Do not skip class as it will have you fall behind.

As someone who is not a math person at all, this class is only unpassable if you never do any work or go to any lectures. Shane makes the concepts easy to understand and gives tons of extra credit opportunities. Even though the homework might seem like alot, it's super easy and will allow you to pass the class even if you don't pass the tests.

I absolutely hate math, but this professor is the one to go to if you just need your college algebra credit. He is very understanding. Went to so many of his office hours with other students to better understand material and he broke it down even more until I did. He allows you to use a small index card on exams with whatever you need on it.

He has a Canvas quiz each lecture and literally gives you the answers by the end class- you don't have to be there to take them, but attendance helps in that regard. The homework is a great cushion, so do it all if you suck at math and hate putting in effort. I bombed some of the exams, and still did okay bc I did the homeworks and extra credits.

Mr. Lowe has been a great professor. Your grade is pretty determinant on tests but there are plenty of opportunities to make it up in partial points, extra credit, homework, and attendance quizzes. I wish I could take him for 1329. Just a really nice guy and being the second time I've taken this course the best you'll get. Take him!

Mr. Lowe's lectures can be boring because it is math however he does try to make the material easy to understand. He does not drop the lowest test score, but a final exam score higher than your lowest exam score can replace it. He is there to help at office hours if you are struggling or have concerns. You have to attend lecture to pass class!

Professor Lowe is a really nice guy, but I struggle with math. Missing a day of class sets you back and the class can get boring. He's helpful during office hours and organizes study groups before tests. But if you're bad at math, like me, it'll be a difficult class. Nice guy though, always willing to help!

I am not a math person at all. Professor Lowe was a good teacher, unfortunately just had way to much to teach in one semester and this course was fast paced for me. He gives 2-3 hw assignments per lecture and I couldn't complete them unless I went to SLAC at the library. Professor Lowe gives many extra credit opportunities and was very helpful.

Although a lot of people tune out during his lectures, he moves quite slow through material to make sure many understand. So helpful with office hours and hand grades everything so fast. He just wants everyone to succeed and he drops so many grades at the end. Offers a cheat sheet on exams and is kind. Finished with a 101 with dropped grades.

Mr. Lowe was a pretty good teacher. The lectures are definitely jam-packed but they do help a lot. I would recommend printing out the notes and filling them in in class. Use the test reviews! There are only 3 tests plus the final, homework is due every tuesday and thursday. He gives a good amount of extra credit which really helps your grade.

THE BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! I have never been good at math but he explained material in a way that catered to your understanding. the best and most caring professor i have ever had. He is always there to help especially during office hours. if you have to take math 1325,dont take anyone else but Professor Lowe. I got As on every exam!!

Great professor for Pre-Calculus especially if you aren't strong in math. He cares for his students and is happy to answer any questions during lectures. The lectures are note-friendly! I recommend maxing out your homework and quiz grades as it allows you to pass even if you fail exams. Attend class and he will be lenient with your final grade!

Lecture is super boring but not hard. There is also an insane amount of homework but he end up dropping like half of the homework grades

Don't get me wrong, 1329 is a very difficult class, but he goes out of his way to make it as easy as he possibly can. He is more than willing to help you and is happy to help you. He brings a smile to every class and genuinely cares about his students. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!!! He hosts study sessions in the library before exams that are helpful!

Y'all take Mr. Lowe!! It is a pretty test heavy class but if you do the review and make a note card its easy to ace. He also has a study sesh the day before a test where he will walk you through and help you with anything your struggling with. he's a great professors and is always willing to help you. he teaches clear and effectively.

He gives extra credit, easy homework for every lecture/lesson and have up to a week after the lecture to complete that homework, very nice and empathic, will answer your questions and explain things. GOOD PROFESSOR

He is a genuine guy, he wants his students to succeed. Fast-paced during lectures sometimes, so write good notes so you can study them later. 2 homework assignments every week. 3exams and a final exam is required to take! Cumulative material throughout the semester. Avoid missing class. tough class if you don't grasp math easily.

He was a very amazing and professional professor. He was very organized and made the goals for what we were going to be doing very clear. I will say that the lectures do go long but he is very caring about students and is always available. Offers a solid amount of extra credit and drops some assignments. Def the strongest professor ive had. 10/10

Prof. Lowe was very helpful and receptive to students' needs. If you missed a class, the material and video recordings are available on the canvas page so you don't have to worry about falling behind. He even held study sessions before tests for any students who needed extra assistance.

Mr. Lowe is a great professor who really wants his students to do well. He works with students who struggle and has lots of office hours avalible as well as a 4 hour study session before each test where he answers any questions. He is so nice and one of my favorite professors. He is willing to work with every student and genuinley cares.

Lowe was a great professor; although sometimes he was slow during lectures over the simple topics, but would rush when the more complicated subjects. Overall, cares about your grades and performance, always available during office hours and enjoys helping and guiding you. I have always had a hard time with math. Most of what I learned previously I've had to teach myself. Prof. Lowe made learning calculus way more understandable than any of my previous instructors. He was willing to slow down, break the problem down, and answer any questions I needed during or after class. If you struggle with math take Prof. Lowe.

Lectures are very heavy and sometimes he went through material very quickly. If you can keep up with that you'll be fine. Some of his old lectures are posted. The homework's weren't really like the tests. He cares about students and wants you to pass but you have to put in the work. It is easier to understand the material if you go to office hours

Mr. Lowe explains concepts slowly and clearly. In lectures, he teaches what he thinks is the easiest method and encourages students to go to his office hours to learn other methods if they're struggling. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities as long as you go to lecture and stay until he dismisses (which is sometimes early).

Great Professor! He cares about you understanding the material and will go into depth until you grasp a solid understanding. However, Pre-Calculus IS challenging; therefore, your grade will be determined by how much effort you put into studying for tests and homework. Extra credit is provided on tests plus a quiz to add points to your test average.

This professor surpassed my expectations. He seems to cater to students who may have taken their last math class years ago. I took his summer class (4 weeks) and left feeling that I truly understood many topics I never thought I would understand. Lectures never felt rushed. Bonus points for the heart print banner on his canvas page! He cares!

assigns multiple assignments a week but they're all online and extremely easy. he also has a lot of study materials available on canvas and always posts a review w/ answers before tests. he's pretty easy to understand too so i def recommend him

Professor Shane Lowe is a wonderful person and loves to help others when something is confusing. He communicated very professionally and emails back as soon as possible. Im not good at math but his office hours helped to make sure i understand. His lectures were very informative and the amount of homework is beneficial for extra practice.

I love Professor Lowe. His class is one of the easiest math classes I have ever taken. He teaches things multiple ways and gives the answers to our lecture quizzes. You should be fine as long as you pay attention. I hate math, but this class really wasn't that bad.

LOTS OF HW, almost everyday you'll have hw. it's easy but be prepared. only one chance for extra credit. attendance not mandatory.

I think Mr.Lowe is an amazing math professor not only is he easy to get in connect with, has an organized canvas, has amazing study guides, has study sessions before a test, and will work with you as long as you work with him. I am though pretty good at algebra, but when I needed helped I just talked to him, so just do study guides and ask for help

Great professor! He explained things clearly. There was a good amount of homework, but it was pretty easy because you had about 25 attempts at each question. Pre-lectures were graded on completion. He doesn't mind if you use calculators or AI for help, as long as you don't copy directly from them.

Mr. Lowe is a very kind and understanding professor but I feel due to his class being 450+ students he moves very quickly. If you are not good at math you might want to keep this in mind. Be sure to attend office hours and form study groups.

Great professor. Check ANY prof syllabus on the TXST website (HB2504) before registering. Homework is online. Quizzes and tests are in person on paper in the lab. I got an A in HS Precal, and most content was the same except for the last units. Clear and helpful, offers extra credit for attendance(before spring break)

I enjoy Mr. Lowe because he wants his students to succeed and will explain things multiple times to make sure they understand the concept. There are multiple homework assignments online, but they are easy to complete. I would recommend using an iPad or printing out the notes. Quizzes are pop quizzes but open note. Tests allow for a notecard.

This professor is one of my favorites, and i have chosen to take him for another class as well. As someone who is not skilled at math, hes very helpful and helps you succeed. I used his office hours very often which helped tons, hes very helpful and wants you to do well. I highly recommend!!!

I'm not good at math so I never did the best on exams, but the homeworks can either save or tank your grade. He taught very well and answered any questions, he was very helpful. There was a lab required and the TA didn't go over the homework questions, he did his own thing so doing the homeworks was a little difficult. Don't get behind!

Mr. Lowe is very passionate about mathematics. He is always open to further explain topics that students aren't understanding as well. He usually gives some sort of extra credit for tests with bonus questions. Attendance to lab and lecture are optional but highly encouraged, as his lectures are easier to understand than learning on your own.

By far one of the best professors I have taken. Made math fun and easy to understand, His grading is lenient as long as you show proper work, will give you partial credit even if the answer is wrong.

Professor Lowe was by far the best math teacher I've had in college. If you miss class you can go to his office hours for the notes and he actually teaches you the material.
