She has an excellent command of the subject and makes the concepts appropriate for this level of bio easy to understand. I respect her ability to clearly communicate her expectations for performance. In short this prof is very knowledgeable, helpful, concise, and open to answer her students’ questions. And as a bonus she is very good looking :).

She is very clear with her expectations. Her class is well structured and she is well organized. She cares a lot about her students and wants to see them succeed. Take advantage of her office hours if you need help. She is more than willing to help you out. Tests are a bit difficult but if you study and read the chapters, you will be fine.

At first I really liked Shannon, she comes off very caring and engaging. Over the term she starts to loose patience for the students. She says she will reply to emails right away but that might only happen a couple times, as the term goes on she takes longer and longer. There is also A LOT of work in this class so be prepared for that.

If you're not disciplined, she is not the teacher for you. Biology was not my strong suit and not only did she make it much easier for me to understand, but her passion for the Earth shows and in return I came out feeling like I should make a difference. She is incredibly knowledgeable. Do your readings and you'll be fine.

Shannon is the best Bio prof I've ever had. Some of these comments are weird, like students were taking things personally. She doesn't coddle you but answers questions patiently. I love her teaching style and she does great exam/reading check reviews. You like, actually learn the things you made errors on. I wish I had her for 211.

I don't consider science my strong suit. Shannon however made this class very straightforward. I liked her a ton and her classes are fun. I was able to pass this class without any issues. You will have to put time in if your not natural at science but you can easily walk away with a good grade.

I loved Shannon. She was very clear with her grading and what she expects from her students. The only thing that was rough were the reading quizzes at the beginning of every week. Other than the reading there isn't a lot of homework in this class. Just show up and study hard and you'll get the A.

Shannon is a great teacher! She makes biology interesting and fun. I get way more from her lectures than I do from reading the book, and she's always willing to explain more. Her tests were a little difficult, and she didn't respond to emails in a timely manner, but I still loved her class and plan on taking her again in the future for biology.

Shannon is the best. If you show up and put in effort she sees you. If you goof around, she has no patience for you (I think thats what these negative reviews are about). Shannon loves biology and its clear, she is helpful and engaged and wants you to succeed. She was my favorite prof at PCC, would take her again in a heartbeat!

I've been going to PCC for 2 years now and was on my last term. Never have experienced such a terrible class/prof. In my short time in her class, she YELLED at multiple students and caused a lot of anxiety among me and my peers. Weekly lab quizzes were long and tricky just like all her exams/assignments. She has clear bias against certain students.

As a PCC Alumni, I have never had such an unprofessional professor. She publicly berates students for not understanding lecture material and using phones in class (takes 1% off your grade). Lets students waste lecture time with irrelevant stories. Quizzes and exams are needlessly long and difficult. Avoid especially if you're prone to anxiety.

She goes through power point slides at a faster pace. Draws lots of pictures (great for visual learners). Labs allow for tactile learners to digest the material. She will adapt to your learning style if you approach her. She seems intimidating at first, but just do it. Mult. choice on exams are hard. Explain answers thoroughly! VERY tough grader!

Shannon is the best! I'm definitely choosing her again! As long as you're respectful&make an effort, she's understanding when things are late. Her lectures often stray from the slides, but it's worth it because it turns into a discussion that fleshes out the material. She won't hold your hand, though! Expect to work, but she keeps it reasonable.

She did not respond to my emails at all. I emailed her for weeks and texted her because she said we could. NOTHING. She is very unorganized. We had to switch over to remote learning and she didn't email us her course plan until the day of the course at 8 am. Always had some emergency to take care of and took forever to grade everything.

I had her for the Principles of Bio series and I do NOT regret it at all. She provides you her "phone number" and will reply very quickly (at least she did for me). Shannon is EXTREMELY flexible and knowledgeable. Main advice: GO TO OFFICE HOURS NO MATTER WHAT. She is an amazing person who genuinely cares about the success of her students.

Shannon is willing to try new methods if something isn't working and doesn't believe in busy work. Schedules are not set in stone. She's impossible to get a hold of through email, so office hours are your best bet. Very lax and chill, personable; I personally prefer more structured classes though. Attendance of zoom lectures is mandatory.

I really liked her but there were problems. Some of the problems I had with her was that she didn't return or grade any of my assignments until the very last day that grades were to be submitted, also she is not good at responding when I tried contacting her. She was flexible and easy to talk to.

Honestly felt like a high school class that should've been remote. 40% lecture, 10% videos, 50% random stories or irrelevant tangents. Writing notes from lessons was impossible because she barely showed the slides or skipped them altogether. She didn't grade assignments on time and I never knew my grades. Just an unprofessional class in general.

I had Shannon as my lecture teacher last term for Bio 101 and she is my teacher for Bio 145 this term. She is an excellent educator and a very kind and caring human. She is very accessible outside of class. You will learn a lot of random fun facts that make the class engaging. She is very chill and understanding of personal situations.
