I was completely lost throughout this entire class. She moves too quickly through information without assuring everyone is on the same page. We'll have a lecture then she'll assign homework and the homework isn't the material we covered during the lecture. This course was a huge disappointment and waste of money. Not recommended.
This is by far the worst teacher. She is completely rude to her students. She doesn't explain anything and she thinks everyone gets it but they don't. She is the kind of teacher who will move on without you understanding the concept. If you ask a question, don't expect an answer because she will just look at you like you're stupid. Don't Take Her!
Bishop is an awesome teacher. She is very helpful. She loves having you interact with your other classmates to figure out problems then regroup to review what everyone has come up with. Interactive, fun teaching style. I recommend taking her but be ready to learn. You are responsible for your own work even if you miss class.
She is very helpful and cares a lot about her student's success. Her class is not that easy, but if you work hard and do your part you'll be fine. Very willing to work with you!
Mrs. Bishop is an amazing instructor. She genuinely cares about her students, and goes above and beyond to make sure they are successful. For most, math is dry & difficult, Mrs. Bishop keeps her classes full of excitement and radiates positivity. Loved her, loved the class.
She is not sympathetic about your struggles. Talks to fast. Jumps all over the book. Not enough review.
Mrs. Bishop is awesome! I have struggled with math my entire life up until her! She makes her classes fun and enjoyable. I had some stuff going on outside of school and she totally accepted and helped m with that. I LOVE the fact shes always on her email and when you miss a class, you take a picture of your homework and send it to her.I LOVE HER
BEST math teacher on the planet! She is so sweet and actually cares about her students. She teaches very well and actually makes math make sense. I never got a good grade in math until I took her. I took Bishop for 121 and 151 and wish I could keep taking her!!!
Bishop is the best TEACHER that I have ever had. She helps you understand the material, as opposed to just making the class easy. She is willing to meet and help you out of class. She is a very sweet teacher.
She's awesome! Very funny and very kind. She cares about her students and encourages you to ask questions if you need help. She's an excellent teacher! If you struggle with math she's a good teacher to take.
Mrs. Bishop is awesome. She's super cool and makes sure you understand the material. The best way to do well in her class is to ask questions and participate. I hated math before taking her class, but she's always available if you need her and she explains things well.
Absolutely LOVE her. I wish she was my teacher for ever math class i ever take. She is very helpful with everything. She will answer and questions in class or even outside of class. She is very in depth with her lessons and she makes it interesting. She's very upbeat, and anyone that doesn't like her is wrong.:)
If you focus, and do the work, ask questions when you have them you'll be fine. Come to class. If there are homework difficulties, go to the math lab in the library, she'll probably be there. Great Teacher. Fun and Hot!
She was very helpful throughout the class. always available and willing to answer any questions you may have.
Yeah, she can be a little corny at first, but she's friggin' smart! And she cares. This is a tough class, but she gives you all the tools you will need to pass. The rest is up to you. In the meantime, she's hot AND smart. -Very fun to learn from. I suddenly love math.
Examples(Notes) in class don't go with the homework given. Only one opportunity for extra credit for the whole class. There are grouppartner tests, and pop quizzes every now and then. Homework counts for almost nothing as a grade, only thing that matters are the test and project scores plus the final which can droprise two letter grades.
Mrs. Bishop is an awesome teacher! She will make sure you understand something. There's homework everyday and she grades a little tough but she will let you know exactly how she does. She adds a little humor and there's a lot of hands on and participation but its only to make you better. Highly Reccommend!!
Mrs Bishop is the best math teacher I have ever had. She is clear and gives great examples. She explains things very well. She does give a ton of group projects which isn't so great, but I have learned a lot and feel much more confident in my math abilities because of this class. If you struggle in math, this class is for you. It will help you.
Bishop has been the best math teacher I have ever had. After 20 years of not taking a math class I passed my class with an A. Yes, I had to go to the math lab everyday, but funny thing was almost all of the students who go to the math lab passed her class. She is hard only if you don't put the time into learning the material.
Finally!!! I have had a lot of holes on math, mainly thanks to horrible teachers in the past, but Ms. Bishop was beyond helpful! She was fantastic, best math teacher, best teacher. I even had a couple of health problems and family emergencies and she was more then understanding and i could easily get back on track due to her policies. The best!
Mrs. Bishop is a great professor she's really passionate about teaching and she loves math! She is so helpful! Mrs. Bishop cares a lot about her students. I would defiantly recommend her. I wish she was teaching MAT 151 So I could take her again.
Mrs. Bishop is the best! She is an excellent teacher and really cares for her students! She made everything very clear and was VERY swift with responding to any questions whether in person or via email. I was in the math lab a lot for this class, but the time studying paid off and I passed her class with a B! Lots of group tests!
i loved Bishop! i never knew i liked math until her class! if you are wanting to learn math she is great!
There is no doubt that she believes in what she teaches and cares about the students.
She is such a great person, ive never had such a wonderful teacher. Im so glad I picked her class because I was really dreading this class!
She is very clear with her explanations/examples which is good for people who struggle with math like myself. Only downside is she is a pretty picky grader, lots of homework both on paper and online. Frequent tests and exams but they are generally quite easy. As long as you do your homework and pay attention you should pass.
Ms. Bishop is THE BEST. She's very educated in the courses she teaches & is always there to help-if you ask. You have to be willing to work hard in this class though & give it all your effort. She does group tests, which can be hard if your group isn't great. Take good notes, study & do your homework! Wish I could have her for every math course
Mrs. Bishop is honestly the best math teacher i've ever had. She really knows her stuff and i LOVE how she explains everything so thoroughly! This course is like first semester of Pre-Calc in high school. We had group tests and you get to meet everyone in your class. I missed soooo many days and still ended the class with an A. So easy!
She does not give notes, she gives handouts with problems that you work out together as a group. She changes your seats after every test. She does not give formulas or steps for figuring out a problem and if you ask about them she will simply ask "What do you think?", you basically just have to pay attention in your groups and learn what works.
Mrs. Bishop is really good at explaining concepts and is always willing to give extra help if needed. She's there for her students wants them all to succeed. She has a great sense of humor which makes the class much more fun, especially if you're not a huge math fan. She does lots of group work but I never had a problem with it in her class.
An excellent teacher, Bishop is fun, interactive, and very helpful.
She's a good teacher, probably the best math teacher I've ever had! Down side though is that she can be moody. Group projects and presentations can be sucky for those of us that don't like that kind of thing, but once you get over that, and aside from her moody moments.... it's a good class to take!
She promotes students finding out how to come to the solution rather than giving a formula. She encourages who class discussion so everyone can share their ways of thinking allowing for the best understanding. There are a lot of assignments and some group assignments, so keep up with those and be engaged and you're good to go!
I had Bishop for 092 and honestly it was everything I could do to get through the semester. She DOES NOT give notes. The "in class work" that she claims to be notes DO NOT match the homework AT ALL!!! She spends more time talking than teaching and lets face it, with math, we don't have time for that!! We need notes, examples, and time to start hmwk
goes to fast and doesnt explain the material professor i swear to god
I have never given a review before but I was looking at Bishops reviews and was shocked to see she has any bad ones. Shes the best math teacher ive ever had in my life. If you struggle grasping math concepts her class will help you a lot! Very easy to pass if you pay attention and do your hw! Tests are easy she lets you use notes.
Bishop is a GREAT teacher! She gives you great notes that you CAN use on TESTS!! Seriously if you need help ask, she will help you understand and think about the correct answer. Awesome instructor! Pay attention, ask questions and triple check your group work.
Teaches math with an emphasis on concepts in a way that is understandable and sticks in your mind. She never responds in a way that could cause you feel dumb, and is interested in the success of her students. Group projects can be a hindrance if your group members don't know what they're doing. Seating is re-assigned every test.
She was a wonderful teacher, made learning algebra legitimately interesting and the first time I actually enjoyed a math class. She assigns one or two group projects and partner quizzes a chapter, which is a nice piece of variety when compared to other classes. She cares about her students, I'd definitely take her class again.
Mrs. Bishop, is the best math teacher you could ever have. She really cares about her students, she wants nothing but success. But you have to really do the homework and look over your assignments to understand the material clearly. If you do everything she asks you to its an easy A.
Mrs. Bishop is FANTASTIC!!! Before I took her MAT191/121 fast track course, I did not like math - at all. Thanks to her clear lectures, helpful grading, and engaging personality, I'm now a hard core math fan. Do the work, go to the tutoring center, and ask questions. It's very apparent in her teaching style that she wants you to succeed.
I am not a person who enjoys math what so ever but Mrs. Bishop made math very understandable but also fun. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. You definitely have to work for your A. She gives a good amount of homework but, a lot of group projects/partner quizzes as well. She's very funny and sweet and you will totally enjoy her class.
I had heard good things about Bishop and I now see why. She's not easy but she's so flexible with her methods and use of technology that you have a chance to understand the topics and not be rigid in how you answer a question. She's awesome! I highly recommend her
Professor Bishop is not by any means, a bad teacher however it was not my learning style. Attendance is mandatory but if you miss class you can screenshot a picture of your homework and she'll accept it. You do a lot of group work, she assigns seats, and makes you move seats/groups after every exam.
Mrs. Bishop is amazing. I was nervous to come back to college after taking a 3 year break after high school. From the first day she made it a very comfortable setting. Her teaching style is very effective. She makes math fun and more understandable. I've never liked math but she makes it more enjoyable! I highly recommend her!
Professor Bishop was great. She knows her stuff and makes it easy to understand concepts. I never liked math but her teaching style and personality made me love coming to class. Even at 8am!
One of the best teachers I have had here at CGCC. Very Funny and they work is easy. Even if you are not good at the subject she teaches it in a way which makes it very understandable.
Goes through the material way too fast and doesn't really care if you're falling behind. Not that good at explaining things thoroughly.
I love Shannon! She does ask the class a lot of questions and wants you to work with your group but that's normal in most classes. Shannon's teaching showed me how much she loves what she does. Just ask questions, practice what you learned when you get home, and email her if you have any questions. I will be taking her future math course.
She is the best math instructor i have ever had. I hate math so thats saying alot. She takes the chapters by baby steps. She does have a unique way of teaching, but once you get used to it, you are golden. You won't regret taking her class!
She's really helpful and goes over each problem. She kind goes fast on her lectures but overall she was a awesome teacher. Her teaching method was amazing
makes you use your head but def recommend taking her if youre not confident in math skills. shes the best at explaining things and will help you as much as you need. best math teacher i have ever had
Before Professor Bishop, I rejoiced when I got a low B in any math class in high school. I enjoy Professor Bishop's class a lot and actually felt like I was absorbing the content she presented me. Hands down, greatest math teacher I have ever had.
Makes sure that all students know the criteria
lets go on a quick tangent shes a great teacher and if you pay attention and are involved somewhat you'll do fine she makes math interesting and is a great personality, i did the hybrid class and still snagged a b so i'm chilling
In my opinion Professor Bishops class was great. She always tries to make class entertaining and does her best to make sure everyone understands the subject. To do well in here I highly recommend you really do the homework and not just look at the answer sheet she gives. Also she is very precise on grading quizzes and will take off half points.
easily one of the best math professors ive had. very personable and is willing to help. made class fun. if there was a concept that one student was unsure about she would go over it with the entire class to makesure everyone was on the right path and will make you actually try to work out problems before helping. NOTES SHEETS ON TESTS
I loved this class. I've always struggled with math, but her teaching method was very helpful. She allows note sheets on tests. She also offers extra credit occasionally, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. I can't stress this enough, you're gonna wish you did it when the final comes around. Ask for help if needed, she is great.
She was the best teacher I have ever had for math!!! she explains everything very well and makes class entertaining.
She doesnt allow late work shes a super tough grader, and she doesnt really mind if you fall behind, also iv been teaching myself, she doesnt explain well and goes over lessons too fast. Honestly I recommend you take someone else, I wouldnt take another class with her.
She gives notes on something we have never learned before and than she says to use prior knowledge to fill the notes out ourselves and than after no one knows what we are doing than she examples after everyone is already confused. She expects student's to already know the material and use prior knowledge. If confused she says to go to tutoring.
Terrible, shes such a tough grader she doesnt explain anything well and expects us to know everything. If you have trouble in math then dont take her because you have to teach yourself and you will fall behind. Iv never had such a bad experience at Chandler Gilbert until now. I regret taking her course.
Awesome instructor! She makes you try things before working them out which is challenging at times but works IF you're willing to try and engage. She works with you when you're absent and has lots of group activities to help boost your grade. Attendance is important. If you miss it's hard to catch up!
Professor Bishop is the best. She does a wonderful job explaining concepts and she does so in a way that was much easier to understand than other teachers I have had. She does not overbear you with homework, but always has suggested practice problems following each new concept.
I loved her! She was an amazing math professor and math is always something that I have struggled in, but I didnt have to worry at all in her class. Didnt give 5 stars because she does grade a little harsh and can sometimes not be the best at explaining exactly what shes looking for
Probably, my favorite teacher, I've ever had. It's a true shame I won't be able to take her again due to passing her first classes. Actually understands math and cares deeply about her students. Take her.
Really awesome teacher, explains the work very well. She cares about her students and will take any opportunity to help them! Youll easily get an A if you do the homework and prep for the exams.
Mrs. Bishop is AMAZING! She makes make super fun. She is always available when you need a little extra help.
I had Professor Bishop in the fall 2020 semester, I was in her hybrid mat-121. She is amazing. I'm pretty terrible with math and even though I only saw her once a week she was the best teacher I've ever had. Super clear and helpful. I'm currently taking another class of hers online. Would 100000% recommend.
One of my favorite teachers ever. I have always struggled with math and I was nervous about taking a math class after being out of school for a few years. Professor Bishop was AMAZING, I have never actually understood math before, I always just relied on memorizing formulas and multiple choice questions. Do yourself a favor and take her class!
I am not good at math and this was an online course but her videos are so helpful and teach you exactly how to do the problems. Not everyone is meant to be a math teacher but she is. She's going to ASU for her Dr. and you can tell! Every week there is a PowerPoint with slides and videos to teach you then homework and sometimes a quiz!
Professor Bishop is amazing. She is always willing to work through a lesson area until you are clear. Her personal math videos, other videos shared, weekly outlines, and PowerPoint presentations provide the tools to learn. She will provide additional practice problems if you ask. She is a tough grader, but fair and helpful. Shes very caring
Professor Bishop is funny and is easy to get along with, and she helped me figure out a plan to pass her class with a decent grade. She gives powerpoints of her lessons, videos, and even WebX meetings, she makes sure that everyone has the format they need to pass her class.
Dr. Bishop is my favorite professor at this school, and I hate math. Her "lectures" are very interactive, funny, and engaging. She gives good grades for even just trying. She remembers names and cares about her students. She's amazing. If you have the chance to take her, do it.
Bishop explains subjects thoroughly and is willing to spend time on different areas that students are unsure of. She is one of the best professors I have ever had and she always makes the class time enjoyable.
Professor Bishop is awesome. I'm terrible at math & she explains it in a way that's easy to understand. She grades very fairly & doesn't dock you a whole question for messing up one little thing. I was worried about taking an online algebra class, but the 'A' I received says it all. I wish she taught pre-calc/calculus.
I highly recommend Professor Bishop. Her teaching is very clear and interactive, and she cares about each student and makes sure they understand the concepts being taught. Even if you miss a day, online modules are easy to follow. Looking forward to taking MAT151 with Professor Bishop next semester!
super nice and she is super fun to be around even as a teacher. she makes you do a lot of whiteboard stuff but it's easy and she'll never shame you or make you feel embarrassed for getting something wrong. going to take her next level up class again next year.
Bishop took me from my typical C student in math to now an A student with how amazing she is at teaching! I cannot accurately explain how much passion she has for teaching math. Every day were at the whiteboards working through problems of which she creates to engage in classroom learning. If you apply yourself she will guide you to success!
I took the hybrid option. Classwork consisted of handout, group whiteboard work, & a short lecture. Online homework is a short powerpoint lesson. She provides optional quizzes for studying. Every week a homework submission and a MyMathLab is assigned. Homework load is low. She's incredibly laid back and understanding. Class was chill and enjoyable.
Professor Bishop is awesome! I have always struggled with Math, but this is the first time I have understood what was happening. She gives great feedback on tests, hw, and quizzes. I enjoyed the interaction in her class with my peers. I would 100% take her if I were you!
Dr. Bishop was a phenomenal teacher. I have always struggled with math, and I was very concerned to take this class. She made everything super easy to understand and she guided everyone through the class effortlessly. She had videos explaining every lesson along with PowerPoints. The videos help a TON if you are visual learner like myself.
I took Dr Bishop for MAT187 Precalculus because I had heard good things about her from my friends. They were totally right, she's awesome! She has you work in groups up at the board a lot which helps pass the time and make class fun. She cares a lot about her students and is understanding. Do the CYU's - the help prepare you for exams!
Doctor Bishop did not work with me at all during this course. Many people I know told me she is a really harsh grader and if she offers extra credit it does nothing to your grade. She makes you stand at the board for hours and expects you to know everything. I would not recommend taking her.
The professor is very kind to provide extra help outside of class. In every lecture in class, the students would mostly write up on the boards and acknowledge other students' work to compare and contrast their work to see any mistakes or improvements. There are lots of activities in the class where it encourages the students to engage and interact.
This is a hard class because it is precalc, but Bishop does everything she can to make sure that you know what is on and works with you if you don't understand something. She gives amazing feedback and is so helpful. She is the best teacher at Chandler-Gilbert, and I will miss her. TAKE HER CLASS! This was my 2nd time with her, and I loved it.
This class heavily relies on your ability to learn by actively engaging at the whiteboard. If you struggle with a learning style that involves minimal examples and requires figuring things out independently at the board, this course may not fit you best. Heavy test grader, little extra credit. Rely on tutoring, and expect lots of independent work.
She was so helpful, she would always answer my emails clearly and promptly, I'm usually pretty shy but I felt pretty comfortable because she wouldn't call you out if you don't know an answer even though it's a lot of group work and standing at the boards.
YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN MOSTLY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. Dr. Bishop gives you everything you need/time to do it. It is a hard class. If you really learn how to do the CYUs/homework you will pass the tests. Put the work in. Dr. Bishop is very understanding and will do her best to help you learn. Hw/quizzes are not hard but also not worth much points.
Dr Bishop's class was my favorite and that says a lot since I don't love math. You work on problems at the boards and work together and figure stuff out. She always goes over things so you have the correct process by the time you leave. There isn't much required homework but there are LOTS of optional practice activities. DO THOSE! They help a TON
Dr. Bishop is an AMAZING math teacher with a very clear passion and love for math and teaching. This course does require you to have some math knowledge prior to enrollment, however you do not need to be a math wizard to do well in the course. If you show up, practice, do your homework, ask questions when needed, and simply TRY to pass.. YOU WILL.
