This professor was really helpful to me this semester. She's really down to earth and lectures are fun. Her tests can be hard, but she gives you study guides and offers study groups. Good looking too. Get to know someone in class cuz she will not share her lecture notes. I'd take her again tho.

The best thing about this class is the structure. Prof Flynt lectures with powerpoint, students take notes on powerpoint (really easy), and take bi-weekly quizes on the notes. Then there are 4 online open book tests on the text. If you read the book it's an easy A. She is pretty funny and laid-back.

You do read a lot of articles through out the semester and write 1-2 page papers on them but it's nothing compared to junior and senior level classes. Other than that it is mostly fun work. Loved her class! She is quirky and funny. I thought the class was pretty easy I took it in the summer which is accelerated and still got an A. I dont know why people are saying its hard to get an A. Its not, test are online quizzes in class on stuff she tells you previously and papers are a breeeze. I highly recommend her.

I loved every minute of this class. All you have to do is show up. She tells you exactly what is going to be on the quizzes and the tests are open book online. Super easy A, plus she makes class interesting and I looked forward to going.

Shannon is extremely energetic and happy all the time. She is willing to help you out with everything you need and discuss anything as well. She is open for pretty much anything. Use videos to make the class more interesting. Use markers while reading the chapters!pink for definitions, orange for studies, it will make your tests a lot easier and save you time!

Easy online/open booked test. Interesting lectures, great sense of humor! I loved her class I took it in the Summer and it was so enjoyable this is the only class I wish I could retake again. You should at lease skim-read textbook and write notes. This is an exceptional teacher, great vibes!! Moderate self application for an average student.

She gives anecdotal evidence about why the book is the only way to prepare for tests, but I hardly touched the book and aced all the tests

Flynt is willing to answer any questions she's amazing at responding to emails. She gives you feed back to see your mistakes. She makes you feel comfortable, very approachable. Test are online which is nice with test anxiety, would take more classes from her.

Amazing and engaging lecturer!! Passionate about PSY. Attendance is mandatory because if you don't attend you won't know which slides are on the test. Beware, there are not much assignments and exams, so one bad score could ultimately give you a grade less than you wanted. Open book exams, can make up one quiz but cannot retake. No extra credit.

I've taken two classes by Shannon so far, one online and one in person. In person the lectures are amazing and she's hilarious. Online, it was mandatory for us to use connect and I found that a tad annoying. I think it was unnecessarily expensive to take this course online and I regret it. Take Shannon in person for the best learning experience.

She has lecture quizzes, unit exams, group projects, and related activities. They're pretty easy as long as you show up to class and know the deadlines. Her projects and quizzes are random so you have to go to class to know when they are. She likes to hear herself talk, that's her only issue. Other than that, I enjoyed her class.

I took online class with her, she is great, you will have one assignment per week and exams every 2 or 3 chapters. The exams are open book, you will need to read before to know where the answers are. Get the correct edition of the book, the answers for the exam are all on the book. I will take 1100 with her, she is great!

Flynt is an excellent professor. I highly recommend taking her for Abnormal Psychology because the homework and videos shown in class really help you to understand various disorders. I took Phys 1010 ans 1100 with her, she is amazing, both classes were online. We had to read 1 chapter every week and then do homework. Her online class is well organized and easy to understand. Midterms online which is great, you can use the book. You will have a writing assignment by the end of the semester.

The homework she assigned was not over the top difficult and the homework is really focused on helping you learn and understand the material. I would love to take another class with her.

Let's face it, psychology call be extremely boring but Shannon keeps the lectures fun and lively. She is extremely funny and you can tell she loves being a teacher. She makes the class buy an electronic book for assignments which I think is completely unnecessary. Quizzes are taken straight from her notes. 2 assignments every 2 weeks. Group work.

Think I'm going to remember the statement "nummy nummy oxytocin" (IE method of remembering the hormone and what it does) for years to come.

She made the class very fun, clear when taking notes as to what was important and what wasnt. Quizzes where very easy and fun.

Really nice and into her profession but lectures are boring? Only buy the DSM no textbook. 4 units, each with 1 online exam, a quiz in class, a written diagnosis, and a couple other papers and assignments throughout. So, quite a bit of homework but it levels out how harsh she grades. Attendance is required because quizzes are based on lectures.

Flynt is awesome! She's super organized, everything is set up at the beginning of the semester including due dates and lectures. No surprises. Her lectures are interesting and she really tries to apply every concept through discussion or assignments. Study for the quizzes and go to class and you can get a good grade and learn a ton!

Mrs. Flynt is amazing! She is very entertaining and always knew how to keep my attention. She does lecture a lot but all of it is stuff that you will need to know for her Lecture Quizzes. Flynt is a great professor. Very entertaining and I learned a lot. 4 at home tests based on the textbook readings (easy if you read), in lecture quizzes, a couple of diagnostic assignments and a term paper based on a movie of your choice on mental illness. I aced all of the tests and assignments, yet came out with an A-. No room for error.

The class is set up into sections with two chapters to read, a reading assignment with each chapter, and an activity with each chapter(generally a video or article to watch/read with an assignment), then an end of section test on 2 chapters. Fairly easy class, just dont forget to do the activities. Flynt answers emails quickly and is very kind.

Loved Prof. Flynt so much. Show up to class and write down the asterisked bullet points, study and take the quiz and you have an easy A. There are occasional group projects (3-4), but only during class. She's a great teacher that cares about you, and makes listening easy.

Flynt was really understanding and caring towards her students. Pretty easy tests as long as you study and take good notes. She tells you exactly what you need to know for the lecture quizzes (which are open note).

E-book was included in course fees, but it wasn't good. It included too much busywork intended to promote memorization rather than understanding. Lectures were excellent, however, and had lots of great information. Identifies key points that are on the quizzes and tests. The final infographic project promoted independent thought.

So when in this class you don't need a text book to buy because the book we used was the smartbooks that were online. I did missed a few classes and then got a bad grade on the lecture quizzes. 10/10 would recommend that you attend every class. The smartbooks take forever so do it a few days prior. Also you have a signature assignment for a final.

She is hilarious and so nice! She shows interest in what she teaches and there are great discussions in this class. Taking notes is so important while going through the slide shows in class. Take time to study since the questions on tests do end up being tricky. I am taking her again but for a different course.

It has been the second time I've taken Professor Flynt. She is so caring for her students. Try showing up to class every time since there are lecture quizzes. You do have to read and complete reading assignments. There are also discussions on canvas that are due. This professor makes lectures interesting! She is passionate on what she teaches.

Online class, a lot of reading assignments, but they were relatively easy. One big paper due at the end of the semester. Lectures are super interesting, and she highlights what is relevant for quizzes, so you can basically get 100% on the quizzes. Overall a great teacher, she provides a lot of good feedback and responds quickly. Would take again.

Hands down one of the best Professors I have ever had. I loved that she was still up to date with current research. Broadcast lectures are tough to make engaging, but hers were always interesting and I looked forward to class every week.

Flynt's course had some heavy workbooks due every few weeks but her related activities were not always terrible and some were even way informative. There is no final in this course and watch her videos/PowerPoints because she will * everything you will need for her tests so you can always get a good grade on those if you put in some effort.

She expects a lot out of her students but does not have any unreasonable expectations and always gives us all the resources we need to be successful on assignments and tests. She is also very kind and funny, creating a very comfortable classroom environment.

Mrs. Flynt's class was awesome. I took her virtual lecture course, and she always kept it fun and interesting. She really cares about her students, and as long as you show up to the lectures and do the assignments, her classes are pretty easy. I would also recommend reading the textbook chapters, as she has quizzes on those. Great class overall!

Ms. Flynt is a great professor who loves what she teaches and cares about the success of her students. I really enjoyed this class and felt like the material really helped me personally and with my family. Ms. Flynt does expect the best from her students, but if you give your best, you'll do well in her class. She responds quickly to emails.

Shannon is funny & amazing, the best professor I've ever had. She was very accessible outside of class, take her up on that. The weekly quizzes are open book but they're reading-heavy. I enjoyed the other assignments. Beware that she does not give you much notice for in-class chapter quizzes (closed-note tests) so start memorizing the terms asap.

I had her for an online class and it was pretty easy going as long as you do your work on time and It's not overloading at once! She does really well to reply back to you and let you know if there is any changes in assignments.

She is such a great professor. Great personality, clear expectations, interesting lectures. Way overqualified to be teaching low level courses so if you get the opportunity take advantage of it. Its really cool that she is so current with research that is being done and ties it in to the normal course material.

Personally found the textbook a little weird at times, but the class was overall good. Every week was reading, quiz, and an assignment to go along with it. Sometimes a discussion post. She always gave great feedback and responds quickly to emails.

Professor Flynt is great, her class was fun. There is a lot of reading and a lot of reading comprehension in her class. I took the course online and I felt it was very balanced. Be prepared for quizzes and many tests; she bases the material you learn on tests, and they work well if you do the readings and study. But I learned so much.

She is seriously a great professor! The modules and assignments are clearly defined, and you know what is expected. She was kind and answered a million of my questions so quickly. She was patient with me and really helped me! I would highly recommend taking her class! The information was fascinating and made class very interesting.

I loved this professor and class! The material was very interesting, and Shannon is really engaging. It was pretty textbook heavy, but it's helpfully integrated into canvas. Her lectures aren't just regurgitating the textbook, and she's always happy to answer questions.

This was my second class that I have had Flynt as my professor. She does not disappoint! She is an incredible teacher. I have learned so much from her. Professor Flynt is an engaging instructor who makes the coursework manageable. The class has a good mix of reading, quizzes, and assignments. Doing the readings and using resources like ChatGPT and unstuck AI for study prep really helps. Overall, a solid class that's worth taking.

All the information was easy to digest, and professor was timely with any questions I had. I felt like all the feedback was very helpful. Make sure you check the grading rubric because you might be shocked when you thought you completed the assignment correctly.

Flynt is awesome! She goes above and beyond to help her students learn and be successful. She teaches you how to use the DSM and think critically. I wish I had taken her for my other psychology classes. She tells you exactly what will be on the in-class quizzes. No final, just a term paper on Mental Illness in the movies.

This class was relatively easy. It required a lot of reading but could be done in about 3-4 hours a week. It was a general psych course so you likely aren't going to find anything to complain about. Seems like this course is the same across the department since I know other people who did the exact same work.

I enjoyed the class and although it was an online class, she switched up the assignments to make things interesting, so we weren't just doing the same things over and over again.

Shannon is an extremely good professor. She cares a lot about her students and gives you all of the materials to succeed in this class. It is very important to be in class because she gives lectures that can not be accessed elsewhere if you miss class, and she gives you the Q/A for the lecture quizzes. Easy finals. Good class overall. Good vibes.
