This teacher was very outgoing and I think taught this course well. She's friendly and willing, and tries to make the class interesting by sharing her own experiences and stories to relate them the to concepts she was teaching, and her stories were pretty entertaining. She made me much more interested in the subject than i thought i was =)

teaches straight out of the book, classes are a recap of what the previous night's reading should of been, and showing up seems like time that could have been better spent sleeping in. the papers assigned require a large amount of investment. study guides for tests are helpful. not accomadating with electronic turn ins.

I've taken 3 classes with this teacher and i can easily say that she is one of the best teachers i've ever had. she genuinely cares for her students and does everything in her power to help you with the material. I am very satisfied for earning an "A" in her summer quarter class because I worked for it. However I didn't work excessively so I would say her class is intermediate in difficulty. She tries to be crystal clear about the subjects covered in class. If you use instructor recommended website before taking tests, you are going to have A+ in her class. Her tests are fairly easy if you read book, review 15mins everyday, and access to websites as many as possible, you are gonna rock in that class. She's lovely and clever.

Her psychobiology class was disappointing. It'll probably be better once she has more biology background. I often got the impression that she doesn't fully understand all the material herself. Lectures are just summaries of the book. Tests follow from the study guides and are easy. HW is easy points, but she grades critically on the research paper.

Hassett is an amazing teacher. Her stories are entertaining and relevant to the class. Come to class and write down her notes because thats what she tests you on. She also gives out study guides before her exams. Study from them and from your notes and you should be fine. Everyone should take her at least once. :)

I think she is a very nice teacher, however, tests are extremely difficult. Even if you study a few hours the night before you still could end up with a D or F. Understand it perfectly in class, but the tests make up most of your grade. Don't recommend unless you are great with even the hardest of tests.

Shannon is awesome, clear, and extremely helpful. There is barely ever any homework. The only downside are the tests -- they can break you. They test for comprehension rather than regurgitating information, so make sure you know all the things on the study guide (all three posted at the start of quarter). Other than that, great class!

Shannon is a good professor as she is clear, organized, and very helpful. However, her tests are quite tricky as they are not tests where you would normally answer material you've memorized, but rather you must assess a situation and then find the appropriate term that fits the case.

Professor Hassett is a really, really good teacher. And her tests are amazing in that if you go to class, take notes, and pay attention, you can easily get an A or a B. Psych24 is a tough course and Shannon does not make it easy. It is easy to fall behind because the material just keeps coming. If you want to do well, attend the study groups each week for extra credit and prep. Shannon is a great professor but not an easy A. She gives study guides for everything, so follow them! Not on the guide, not on the test

Great exp. Her lecture is very interesting since it about things around you. ask her any question and she'll answer it with her best, but sometime makes her schedule late. focus on her lecture and you'll do fine in her exams. the multiple choice won't cause any difficulties, but be careful with the short questions. and btw her smile makes ur day.

Great class. This class is reflective of its major in performance. If you do not do well in this class and are a psych major then you are in big trouble later on. Exam is straight from the lectures and textbook. Do the study guides and you are gauranteed to do well in the exams. Must study consistently as there are pop quizzes!!!

Study, study, study, and take notes. Shannon is always charming and clear- and psychobiology is fun to learn. Not a difficult class at all if you are able study effectively, if not, you can fall way far behind easily. A 10 page research paper or a presentation is required (can be solo/group), hard work is required.

Shannon is an excellent professor! I was always excited about class. And not just because shes so beautiful! She has a lot of relevant and funny stories to help teach the subject matter. She gives you several opportunities for extra credit as well as practice quizzes to get you ready for the exams.

I appreciate her sense of humor and her insights. Lecture materials are straightforward. She also instills this sense of critical thinking, broader picture sort of thing in a rather science-heavy course. I would advise the use of index cards (instead of notebook) for easier content absorption.

didn't really use the textbook its there for extra clarification. her note are really clear that all you need. which means you should go to class every day or make a friend in that class so that you can have the notes you missed. she is so sweet and nice truly cared about her students

Great class and teacher: all lecture except three classes of dissecting a sheep brain which turned out to be very little dissecting. Loved her. Shes very understanding and helpful. On top of that, her lectures are engaging and she gives you time to write down notes that you need for your study guide. Just make sure to study or you will be confused on the exams

Her teaching skills are awesome. She is very helpful teacher and easy to talk too. If you are not good with English, do not take her class as her exams are more on understanding not just from the book. Her exams are tricky. She is the best teacher for psychology compared to other teachers. Please do take her class. Easy A....:)

She is awesome! Her personality and the way she teaches made me interested in the subject. She is funny and shares relate-able personal stories to the topic you're leaning which engrosses students' attention. Her test aren't necessarily easy; you DO have to study. Also, you don't really have homework besides 2 practice tests.

Approachable and fair teacher. Clear lectures/ expectations. Lots of extra credit. 3 hwk assignments 30 pts each, only need to do 60 pts worth(sometimes had stuff we hadn't covered yet, used google). 2 midterms are multiple choice + 2 short answer. Not easy or hard but straightforward. Lecture is straight from textbook + stories. I didn't need it.

I think she tries to make learning fun and easy. She teaches by telling her own personal stories, which helps you remember the material. She always mentioned a textbook but I never purchased one and I'm glad I didn't because I would not have used it. Just pay attention to her and take notes and it's an easy A!

She is one of the best professors at DAC. It is really easy to pass her class if you work for it. I never used the text book so you don't need to buy it. Her exams are basically her notes. All I can say is that flash cards became my BFF in this class. You need to take it!

I recommend buying the book, take notes, and review online notes. There were lots of questions on the tests that refereed to things we didn't go over in class. I wish i bought the book and read over it. The 3 tests are moderately hard even tho it is multiple choice. The professor is fun and a good lecturer, but it gets really boring after a while.

Wonderful teacher that has plenty of fun and interesting stories that will keep you engaged throughout her classes. I recommend getting the book just to fill in the details on ur studyguides and securing an A. Copy down everything she writes in the lecture notes because it all shows up in the midterms and final.

She was awesome! Funny, nice, and made it really clear what to study for. She gave out study guides and offered extra credit by going to tutoring. Take my advice and GO TO THE TUTOR SESSIONS. Even if you don't need it, trust me, you WILL NOT regret it. She's an amazing teacher, definitely would take her again.

Hassett is extremely funny and you'll look forward to coming to class everyday. She does not assign too many assignments and when she does, they're easy and she gives you plenty of time to complete them. She offers a wide array of extra credit opportunities and is generally helpful to anyone who comes by for assistance.

She's pretty chill. She made psych interesting, which is good. Definitely take her if you want to understand the material, she gives a lot of examples and always wants to answer people's questions.

I'm really shocked to see how low her rating for easiness is. All you need to do is show up to class and take the notes. If you quizlet all of the definitions she writes in the notes, her tests are a breeze plus she gives EC. Really helpful and encouraging. She keeps the class interesting with examples from her own life which are hilarious.

Class was entertaining, got involved, took crapload of notes, came to exam then failed.

Professor Hassett is AMAZING. She is such a good teacher and lecturer. She makes her lectures easy to listen to and applies everything to her personal life making concepts easy to understand. One of the best prof's I've ever had: crystal clear lectures and grading criteria, hilarious examples that are instrumental in remembering concepts. She cares about students and really wants us to understand concepts, not just memorize. Super fair grader, helpful and available outside class, professional and funny. Take her class, you won't regret.

Hassett is an amazing teacher! But she is tough, so if you take her class be prepared to study. Strongly recommend to don't miss her classes, she introduces new topics every day. You should attend the study sections, besides give you insights for the test is an important extra credit.

A professor who made me EXCITED to go to school, and by far my favorite class I've taken. She makes the content easy to understand and also makes it extremely relatable by including real life experiences and encouraging class discussion. It is very important to show up to class but you will almost never want to miss a session.

Ms. Hasset is a great teacher. Her lectures are always interesting because she always adds little anecdotes into them. The tests are pretty easy, the first one is the hardest. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and the homework isn't hard at all. She is super nice and understanding and I wish I could take her class again!

Her tests were not difficult if you paid attention in class and studied. you do NOT need the textbook, I didn't take one look at it. Hassett is my FAVORITE prof. Come to class, take notes, do the study guide and you can get an A. She is EXTREMELY clear when lecturing and with instructions/what is going to be on exams. Lectures are interesting and Hassett tells stories that help you remember concepts. She also gives some EC opportunities. Oh, and you don't need the textbook!

Hassett's class was not too easy but I wouldn't take it with anyone else. Psychobiology has so many terms you must learn but she has creative ways of helping you memorize them (you won't even realize you're studying). oh and she is super funny in a really nerdy way

It's a science class so don't think you can get away with cramming. You need to review your notes regularly not everyday but keep up. She provides study guides which are great and if you follow that exactly you'll do amazing. But also don't memorize that won't work either.

She is a cool person but her teaching style had me confused. Her study guides had so much info but she only quizzes you on a couple of things. She gives anecdotes during lectures which can be eh. I thought she would relate the anatomy of the brain to Psychological topics, but that didn't happen. This class turned into a big anatomy lesson.

I love Prof Hassett. Took her for psy1, loved it and same for psy4. Tests are straightforward, study guides are ur best friend. Don't miss class, everything learnt is by lecture. She's a real gem - I would so recommend her! Some easy hw, and one group project that is easy too. It's easy to get an A if you put the work in, a lot of memorization.

Her notes are her test! As long as you know those, you'll be fine. She is always willing to answer questions during office hours. I would take her class again!

I took 25 units last quarter and I thought this class would be stressful, but it was the highlight of my quarter! Shannon is just amazing. Her class is organized, fun, and super engaging. She has a way of explaining things that sticks, very thorough and great examples. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for you.

Not an easy A. You actually need to read the book and the notes. Her test is all multiple choice and there is a weekly quiz. The class was based on a point system. Overall, it was an okay class. She's very nice and approachable

Prof. Hassett is force to reckon with. She gives great lectures, extra credit, study guides, if you take notes, you'll basically have all the answers you need for the test/quiz's, and above all, she RESPECTS each student & is the MOST authentic person you will meet at De Anza. If you fail her class, you must've used your chair to SLEEP!!!

she truly is an amazing teacher. I love psychology and last quarter i took a class with another professor who was terrible and make me rethink psychology. but professor Hassett was amazing and you could clearly see in her class how much she loves it and wants to share with everyone.

I took her Psych 1 class my second quarter at De Anza and got an A. Her lectures are fun & interesting, this was one of my favorite classes taken at De Anza so far. If you show up to class everyday, do the notes & assignments then you should be fine. There is a lot of extra credit that she offers throughout the quarter to help your grade.

Although I was in her first online PSYC4 class, Shannon did the best she could to offer the same experience as her in-person class. I particularly liked how the assignments exposed us to stress managing techniques. 4 tests, weekly quizzes and discussions, a few HW assignments. Study her notes and you should be fine.

She is great! She teaches with humor and stories, making the class content relatable. I can still remember her lessons a year after. Show up, listen, take notes, and you will be fine!

This is not an easy class. But it is absolutely doable. I was terrified at the beginning of the quarter, because I had not taken a biology class in over 15 years. I ended up with the highest grade in the class. Read the book, show up every day, take notes, ask questions, and go to study sessions - FASCINATING class, easy to follow teaching style.

Not an easy A but Hassett's awesome and makes it interesting. I didn't attend study sessions until the end but I wish I had because they were SO helpful(we had amazing TAs so might just be luck)! I easily could've got an A if I had. The first science course in a while I actually enjoyed. She offers bonus points and extra credit :)

2 midterms and final. There are a couple group assignments but you pick your group and can choose to work by yourself. This class is whatever you put into it, you will have to study but multiple students left with over 100% in the class. Prof. Hassett tries to learn everyone's names and makes you feel welcome! Prepare to take nonstop notes tho lol

Shannon Hassett is an amazing professor. She was able to make time outside of class, and really cares for her students. Some of the concepts can get a little tricky but if you go to study sessions, and ask questions during class you should be fine. Her lecture notes are golden, make sure to study the things she repeats or emphasizes.

Wonderful teacher. Her teaching style worked very well for me but she recognizes that her style doesn't work for everyone so she gives students other choices and always offers help. Also has many teachers aids that plan very helpful study/tutoring sessions. Also gives extra credit and bonus points opportunities.

Book is required but don't read the whole chapter, just know the study guide and filter from there, there's so much stuff in the book that isn't relevant to the tests. No cumulative final. There's up to 6-7 percent percent extra credit, and because of that, several people had over 100 percent.

She gives good advice and feedback not only about academics, but just life in general. She's very approachable and has a lot of great stories to tell, which make her lectures a lot more enjoyable. You could really feel that she cares about discussing knowledge with students and she is very clear on letting students know what's gonna be on the test. Take her class!

Professor Hassets class was so amazing! Her lectures are entertaining because shell tell stories about her life that are funny and relevant to the material which really helps you retain the information. Her tests are passable, and you can get an A if you study and take good notes during her lectures. Youll learn a lot! Take her if you can!

She is a nice professor that lectures every day. Take good notes and fill out study guides completely and you will be fine. I would recommend going to her study sessions as soon as her TA's start to offer them. The first test was the hardest in my opinion, got much easier as the quarter progressed.

Abnoromal Pysc is a very intresting class but there was a lot of reading to do. Chapters were long and they could get very boring after a while. If you are struggling she is very caring, so getting in contact with her is not an issue. It was a chapter a week but the chapters were long, so as long as you manage your time you should be fine.

Shannon Hassett was one of my favorite professors at DeAnza! Shes so nice and understanding but overall an amazing teacher. I took her for mostly all of my psychology classes and I especially enjoyed her Psychology of Wellness class. If you are feeling stress and noeed a helpful stress management class, definitely take her class!

Shannon is an incredible professor! This was my first class with her and I loved it, and learned a lot. You should probably show up to class to take class notes (tests are based on class note, quizzes are based on textbook reading) and participate. The class material is interesting and so is the professor!

I love Professor Hassett! I enjoyed this class so much and learned a ton. Her lectures are very interesting as she uses her own life examples to teach psychology. Her tests are also easy if you study (attending study sessions also help!) She also gives extra credit. I would definitely take her other courses too.

I loved Shannon, she made the class fun, she told a lot of stories that were funny. Offered study sessions hosted by her TA's. She wrote lectures which was very helpful for me as a visual learner. She answered all questions and went into detail with everything. Textbook not really needed for me, but she recommended it, I didn't use it. Amazing!

Prof. Hassett is great if you are a non-psychology major AND psychology major. I have ADD but the way she teaches keeps me engaged because she teaches through stories so its fun. She rounded my grade because I was close to an A and also because I participate in class. Shes fair and Easy A if you listen and take notes!

Make you work for your grade. Hilarious, worth coming to class for, but one of the hardest classes ever taken. Study and study more. Clear on what she wants, wants to see you grow and succeed. Connects her personal stories to the class in a way to remember the material. TA's that provide study sessions weekly. Textbook outdated but understandable.

Tests ate based off the study guide. Quizzes off the textbook. Learning Assignments + Discussions based off effort, do them and you'll get 100%. HARD CLASS even if you study often. Overwhelming at first. Go to the study sessions, go to her office hours, she honestly wants every students to pass and will help you however you need. Very understanding

She respects you by nodding or smiling. Her lecture is carefully planned to help your memorization. Not an easy class, but I did better than I expected. My favorite professor in De Anza so far. Take her, no regret. If you are lazy, Psyc 24 isn't for you. The course is tough. The professor has done an amazing job supporting me.

I took the class online, and she had optional lectures every week. I loved listening to the lectures: she tells a lot of stories and she's very passionate about the material. The only thing I didn't like was that the textbook for the class isn't very well organized. Overall I really enjoyed the class, just make sure you don't fall behind.

I took this class online and really enjoyed it, she gives you her powerpoint along with optional lectures that are quite entertaining and she incorporates interesting stories. Total of 3 exams and weekly quizzes and discussions. As long as you have your notes open and listen to the lectures you will be in pretty good shape. Extra credit options!!!

I had Professor Hassett for both psych 1 and psych 24 both of which were made super easy and clear. The key is to use the study guide for exams because everything comes off of that. If you know the study guide, you're in good shape.

She gave many extra credit opportunities, but overall, her class and exams were very easy. Her only homework was to take a quiz and answer a discussion question weekly. Her lectures online were optional, but the lectures were helpful and clear. Reading the textbook is also optional. The info for exams is only based off of lectures & her study guide

She is great teacher to take for Psych, her lectures have a lot of information that is on test and quizzes so be sure to study. She gives study guides for each exam so you know what to study for. Her quizzes and exams are a little tough but as long as you study you should be fine. A lot of the material will stick to you after this class.

Hassett was a great professor. You definitely need to study for the exams otherwise good luck. But the lectures were super interesting. And I think she makes it pretty clear what to study for on exam study guides. It was hard, but I did get an A so it's possible. Just study hard and pay attention! She's a really fun/ entertaining professor.

She is super sweet and makes her online lectures enjoyable! She makes you feel very comfortable to talk and express your views on everything. You do have to keep up with the work she gives, there is always work to do but the work is mediation based.

there was alot of extra credit i just forgot to do it she is a very nice lady, if you're gonna take any psyc classes shes my top 2 its a hard class, but she gave us a free trial of the whole (free) textbook so we could use study tools and a lot of assignments to make up for the mistakes of the last taking her again soon

Best professor ever! Class is very easy to understand and answers questions. Really knows what she's doing and is very knowledgeable in psychology. You can easily get an A if you just attend the lectures and put in some effort.

I have never had a teacher give so much feedback in a positive manner. I appreciate the book she suggested as it has helped me in my daily life. If I ever need to take another PSYCH class, I would pray she would be teaching it. Read the book, do your assignments, stay focused and you will do great.

She is a nice person but get a book on Mnemonic devices and studying, you'll need it. Material is complex and her PowerPoints and lecture notes don't translate it to everyday English. The lectures are helpful but she releases multiple ones on each chapter and half the lectures are released after you've already been quizzed on it. She is nice, tho.

Shannon is not just a phenomenal educator, but an incredibly sweet person as well. Watch her lectures, annotate the notes, and fill out the study guides to do well on the exams; the textbook isn't necessary. While this course has complex material, she does an excellent job of teaching it in a crystal clear way, especially with her anecdotes.

Excellent professor as she wants you to really know your stuff. You need to read the material she provides (lecture notes) and listen to her voice lectures and watch the helpful videos. Her quizzes and test are designed to test your analytical ability to retain the material. Would take again.

Her class was extremely forgiving with many extra credit opportunities that can boost your grade over 100%. Her quizzes are often worded to trip you up or be confusing but they are not too difficult if you really drill her class notes. Very sweet and her TAs really made the class!!

I truly feel that its hard to fail this class. Shannon provides lecture notes, power points, recorded and live zoom lectures and extra resources like her office hours and the study group ran by her teaches assistants. Shes so nice and provides not only extra credit, but bonus points as well. She definitely makes the material easy to understand

I took 2 classes w this prof; 1st time I got a C and the 2nd I got an A. The difference was that I put in the effort this time around. She gives us everything we need to do well, you just have to know where to find info. Lectures were #1 source, but at least skim the book. Lectures were optional (extra cred). Extra credit is offered. She is so nice

Shannon is a very detailed and thourough professor. Having taken her courses after already completing my undergraduate and found that she provided an incredible amount of information. Very much worth the time and investment.

Super easy to pass, only a few group projects (nothing too big & it's easy), weekly quizzes, and tons of extra credit. Honestly, I just used the study guides she gave us to pass the test & quizzes, so if you're super busy with other classes, just quickly fill out the study guides and you're good to go. Super sweet overall.

Exams are super challenging and I found out going to the TAs' study session helped the most! Be sure to earn the max credit points to pad your grade. I learned a lot this quarter and enjoyed Professor Hasset's lectures and overall class :)

Shannon's class is manageable with the study guides and weekly quizzes. I used Unstuckstudy AI alongside the materials to ace the tests. Overall, a worthwhile but not too difficult course.

I took Abnormal Psych asynch with Prof Hassett. Her grading criteria and expectations are very clear which makes the class incredibly easy. Only a couple (easy) assignments per week, though the case studies can be a little confusing at times. She provides a study guide for both midterms and the final, so as long as u complete ur work, ur good!!

AMAZINNGGGG, Professor Hassett is by far one of the best professors ive had here at De Anza.

Her quizzes and assignments require only one attempt and are pretty complex. If you struggle with biology and chemistry, I recommend a tutor or ask her TAs!

What a perfect summer with Shannon!! The course includes a lot of case studies, and you need to set aside about 6 hours per week to complete the assignment, and 4 discussion and 3 exam. She was very helpful and will give you a LOT of extra credit. If you need this course, CHOOSE THIS!!!!!!
