Very good professor, really knows her stuff and barely any homework. Take HEr
She's cool...sometimes she goes off topic and don't know the answer(s) to the question(s) but overall it's an easy class...just show up to class take notes and you'll be fine...her tests are all straight out from her study guide so no need to study hard...
TAKE HER!!! 3 essay exams based on certain topics. NO FINALS. EVERYDAY is a quick paragraph of Reading Response. Easy grading on the RR's. Lectures are interesting, but at times very boring, all you need to do is discuss and ask questions. This class is a HIGHLY RECCOMENDED CLASS TO TAKE, THIS INSTRUCTOR IS HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.
She is a good teacher. Class was boring at times but it super easy. She gives 2 test and you have to do rr but they are simple and can be done in about 30 min. I highly recomend her cause she is a very good teacher.
This professor was awesome I loved her. She made everything so clear and her class was really easy. We took two midterms and one final they were all short answers and one essay question for each she gives you a study guide that completely helps you out. I would totally recommend her
If you need to take history, take this class! Great professor, easy class! It can be boring, but it is extremely easy!! If you just want to get history over with, this is the professor for you! You will not regret it!
Great class. TAKE IT!
Very Easy for test do the study guide and show up for reading responses
An easy and comprehensible professor. Two tests and the final consist of short answer and essay questions. She gives out the questions before the test so it is extremely easy to study. Her topics are very relevant and interesting.
I loved this class. I asked a lot of questions and she didn't make me feel dumb. She is a great professor. The exams were easy since she gave you all the questions to study for. I would recommend her for anyone that needs to take a who needs to take it as a GE requirement.
She is a very helpful instructor who really tries to make the material appeal to the students. She is an EXTREMELY easy grader. Class consists of two papers based on books, an essay based final with I.D. questions, and an essay based final also with I.D. questions along with a comprehensive essay question. Easy
I would 100% recommend this instructor for this course! If you must take any history courses be sure to choose any she is teaching! I enjoyed this class tremendously! The course was straight and to the point and the subject matter was interesting. She is a very easy grader and super helpful!
Great professor I recommend
EASY A! However, very boring and akward class environment. The tests are super easy... 5th grade?? She is nice however, does not turn papers or test immediately. She takes her sweet old time!! If you want to sit and listen to what you already should know by now.. then jacobs is the class to take.
Easy. She grades slow but she isnt mean or anything and sometimes isnt prepared for class but it is an easy A.
pretty much like a high school class. take notes on a power point and do readings and stuff. she was nice and i enjoyed her class. i missed the final becuase i thought it was at a different time and she stayed in her office to let me take it and finish it.
Honestly, you don't need the books. She discusses them in class, you can also google summaries...save your $$. The midterm and final are very easy. They're essay format and she provides a study guide. We did have a quiz once a week based off of short articles. She doesn't take roll only the 1st 2 weeks so attendance isn't mandatory.
Take her!! She is an easy A and wants you to pass. She is helpful and works with you! There is a lot of reading but the readings are interesting. All you need to do is show up, take notes in class, and do the readings and you will pass the class. I highly recomend her you wont regret it!!
She is a pretty easy grader. All her tests are essay format and she does reading quizzes every week which are pretty simple. I highly recommend her
really nice professor, the quizzes are usually once a week and you just write like a paragraph about what you've read off of blackboard. you do have to write one paper, so actually read the books. there's a couple of bluebook tests but all of them, including the final, are the same format. just really easy and relaxed class, totally recommend it
Professor Jacobs is very easy. I cant imagining having an easier version of the class. Weekly quiz questions are so easy you don't have to do the readings. She does not care about you learning however. She will look at you funny if you ask an intelligent question and answer sarcastically.
Shannon Jacobs is a really nice professor. I truly recommend her. I had taken History with another professor and I just did't get it, however she made the content SOO MUCH EASIER. Take Her! You'll be glad you did.
Loved her. Shes so nice i liked how her lectures were like a story I was able to remember a lot. She gives you a study guide for the final and one note card I Aced it its quite easy if you study a bit, GREAT TEACHER!
Professor Jacobs was so great! There is not any reason for someone not to like her. Her lectures are very clear and well understood. She doesn't require a text book but posts readings that you NEED to do. They are quite helpful and usually interesting. Quizzes are straight forward and basically the study guide. I HIGH RECCOMEND HER!!
She is a easy teacher, very informative but can be boring during lectures. Weekly quizzes on readings but very easy, also no book required. Overall she is a very flexible teacher especially athletes who have to miss class and willing to help you if you are having trouble.
Easy class.Theres weekly readings&quizzes but they aren't super hard.1 Midterm, 1 Final-all of which are pretty simple if you know your history facts;Straightforward study guides.Powerpoints aren't posted on blackboard but usually don't tell much anyways.Basically a review history class of what you learned in history classes in high school. :)
had her last semester, super easy, its basically like high school all over again. weekly quizzes on blackboard readings but not bad. I usually skimmed them. passed with an A. just take notes and do the study guides. 2 test, a final and 1 paper. class is kind of boring , but if your looking for an easy A I recommend her.
The easiest class I have ever taken. You have 2 tests, 2 papers, and multiple quizzes. The tests are very straightforward and easy. I highly recommend taking her.
Loved her class. Very easy going. Had weekly readings. sometimes 2-3 readings. Always got quizzed the next class on the readings. PowerPoint lectures sometimes used chalkboard. Tests were okay. Essay portion a bit hard, but all is doable. Gives study guides. Do the work and you will pass.
There are quizzes 2 times a week, but they are super easy if you just do the reading. She gives a lot of extra credit options and is very helpful if you ever need anything. Great class!
Such an easy teacher. She is very clear on her expectations. Attendance is not mandatory. Would totally take her class over again!
Take this professor. There is about 2 quizzes each week, but as long as you read they are fairly easy. Two papers and 2 exams throughout the semester. Its a easy class to pass.
There is no textbook, instead she posts readings online. Reading quizzes once a week, she allows a note card but if you read you'll be fine. Two tests, including final, and they were pretty easy. She loves participation and to hear everyone's opinion, so participate. Very easy class, should be easy to pass if you just do the readings and take notes
I got a C+ because towards the end I got lazy to do the reading quizzes that we would have almost every day MWF. They are very easy I was just lazy. She's an easy A+ professor she's very sweet and you can tell she loves to lecture. I'll probably take her again just to replace my C with an A.
One of the best professors I have taken! She has some readings on blackboard so you don't have to buy a book and then gives random quizzes on them, but hints before we have a quiz and you're allowed to use a note card. Her lectures are not really boring, she tries to relate history as well as she can, and only a midterm and final for tests.
Attendance is SO IMPORTANT. she does random quizzes throughout the semester and does participation points as well. Really boring lectures, but really easy class. No textbook!
I actually found history interesting this semester. Jacobs is a great professor that wants students to pass. Jacobs gives multiple choice pop quizzes on readings (lots of reading) and the midterm/final are both multiple choice with a short answer part. She grades really easy. Great Class, Highly Recommended.
No book required instead she posts readings on blackboard. She gives 5 random pop quizzes during the semester on weekly readings that consist of 10 easy questions. She also assigns two easy map quizzes in the semester that can easily help boost your grade by couple points. A midterm, one paper, and a final. I really recommend her :)
Enjoyed World Civ II with this professor. In this class, you're only assigned two papers for the semester, one of which is a research paper (low page requirement). Every week, we have to answer questions on some of the reading, but that's only a page long. Attendance is not mandatory, but she does give pop quizzes so you might want to show up.
She is great, helped out a lot and will help out if you email her.
Amazing lecturer!
Really funny professor! Her lectures are pretty cool, and there isn't a ton of homework. Would take again.
If you are one of those people that think that history is boring, she is going to change your mind. Her lectures are always clear, and easy to understand, she also adds a little bit of humor, which makes the class easier. I really recommend her.
Professor Jacobs has to be the best history professor hands down. She has a passion for what she teaches and it is clear through her lectures. Would take her again and would recommend her.
I really enjoyed her class. She made history very interesting and easy to learn. There was weekly readings and assignment that was easy points that helped get an idea of what you were going to learn. Her exams are exactly like the study guides. If you go to class and listen to her lectures, you'll do great in her class.
Really enjoyed this class with Jacobs. She has a casual style that makes it easy to talk to her. Lectures are crystal clear, relaxed classes, with exams and assignments that are very manageable. The only real things to watch out for are the pop quizes, but they aren't bad. Follow the study guides, do the assignments and paper and you will be fine.
Made class fun and made sure we understood the material, gives study guides for tests
One of the best professors I've ever had. I'm taking her for the second time, if that says anything. You do have to memorize a lot for the test, but the actual test are not hard because she gives you a study guide. She's very chill and helpful. There's homework every week, but she's very accommodating to her students schedule.
She was an amazing teacher. We didn't need a textbook because she provided them online for us and her tests were based on her lectures, which weren't hard to follow. The exams were easy as long as you studied and paid attention in class. Participate in class discussion and she'll give you less work.
She is very casual which makes her lectures are so simple and easy to follow. Her test are are super easy since she doesn't provide a study guide. You do have assignments do every week but honestly thet are so simple as long as you do them you'll most likely get an A on them.
Great, great professor! Really enjoyed her.
She was a really laid back professor who gave really informative lectures. We had an assignment and reading due once a week but they were very easy. One Midterm, one annotated bibliography, a final, and a map quiz but other than that, do the hw due once a week and you're solid!
she is a very amazing teacher she is very passionate at what she does and if you do your work and show up to class you will definitely pass the class
Super easy class. It was interesting and the professor was very kind. Graded off of a midterm, a final, and a couple of assignments
I have taken two classes with Professor Jacobs and absolutely loved it! She really does want her students to succeed, you get one homework assignment every week which is pretty easy and two take home midterms which are just an essay, highly recommend any of her classes.
Love her! Shes so sweet and caring! Shes not the teacher to get mad when she asks a question and no students answer. She tries to come off tough the first day but I swear thats not her, Ive taken her class twice! Her readings arent bad, gives super easy pop quizzes. Could even skim the readings to pass them and the test arent too hard either
First of all, the homework s weekly and is only 2-4 questions. I stopped going at the end of the semester and still passed. Just do all your work and study for tests and I guarantee you will get an A. she asks you to know the historical significance, not like dates and stuff. GREAT PROF
SHE NEVER GRADES ANYTHING IN A TIMELY MANNER. she did not grade our midterms until 3 days before the final and her lectures are comprised of a picture on the projector and her talking and expecting you to take notes at her speed. she has weekly reading assignments that are easy but again, never graded until the very end. very frustrating class.
Jacobs is a very chill professor. I enjoyed learning History with her, very interesting. She lectures but powerpoints only include pictures so you basically take notes on what she says. However, she makes everything clear. Study guides are given before the midterm/final and the exams have everything on the study guide. Do your work, get an A!
Pretty ok professor. Not the best either. Lectures a lot but doesnt have much on slides so you have to write everything she says. There is 1 assignment due every week just saying she doesnt even read them so write whatever you want on there 1 quiz 2 exams and 1 essay which was really easy If you are taking other hard classes take her, no stress.
She's a super layback professor. Easy grader as well. Her class is based on only 14 weekly homework assignments, one two page paper, and a quiz which are all super easy but you have to do them to pass; and of course a midterm and final. If you study the study guide you're good! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Awesome professor. Best professor youll ever have.
There's no textbook but she provides readings on blackboard and you have to answer 3-4 questions and turn them in every friday. Pretty simple class, her lectures are kinda boring and she tells a lot of stories that may not be completely pertinent to the subject.
This course was not the best, but also not the worst. There are reading assignments due every week but they are really easy, 2 papers (2 pages each), a map quiz, and 3 written exams. She provides study guides for the exams, but they are not the most helpful. She is also not the quickest grader. She gave back like all our stuff on the last class day
Professor Jacobs is an amazing professor. I would definitely recommend her and I would take her again. This is an easy class to pass. It consists of a map quiz, midterm, final, one current event paper, and weekly reading assignments. She provides study guides, and the exams are fairly easy if you take good notes and study.
Her class was great. Reading assignments every week, midterm, final, one essay, map quiz, and extra credit. Just do your work, doesn't even have to be all that great, and you can still pass with an A.
There's 14 reading assig. 1 per week. They have 3 questions about the reading. We do lectures in class. NO textbook necessary! We did some slideshows/lectures because we transitioned to online. We had a final test. I totally recommend her she's super nice but she does take a bit to grade assignments. Her class is an easy A.
Professor Jacobs is a good professor. Her readings are sometimes a bit long but the assignments are easy. I didn't really get to experience her class because of COVID-19. When on campus, she was always nice, respectful, her powerpoints were easy to follow and interesting. She's super sweet and cares about her students.
Professor Jacobs is an awesome teacher and everything is so simple with her. No textbooks needed and the only homework you ever will have are the reading assignments that are due every Friday. The reading assignments are easy, but can be time consuming. Overall, she is a great teacher and I recommend her!
Professor Jacobs is such a good professor, she cares about her students and the class. She is funny, nice, and kind. I was in this class physically in person and then the other half was online due to covid-19. But either way she was an easy teacher. I would say is to make sure to pay attention to her power point slides. Not a lot of of words.
Professor Jacobs is really understanding and not a tough grader at all. I also like that her attendance isn't mandatory, and she doesn't require a textbook.
Professor Jacobs was the BEST history teacher I have ever had! She teaches so well and explains it as if you are on facetime. She makes it fun and she is very caring. Lectures are not really that long but make sure you take notes! We have reading assignments each week and 2 current event articles, along with the usual midterm and final.
Professor Jacobs is kind and knows a lot about history. The class consists of "15 assignments"(only ended up being like 6), three quizzes, midterm, final and project. Not to bad testing wise and gives a week in advance notice to study.
Professor Jacobs is an AMAZING professor! I have taken her two semesters and honestly, she is an easy grader, as long as you take notes and pay attention you are good. She is super clear, has easy tests, and the readings are loud, but you do not need to read all of them to answer the questions. Definitely recommend her!
The class is pretty easy but lots of work. It's easy but you need to stay on top of it.
Really great professor! I highly recommend her for history. Only took 3 tests, a midterm, final, and map quiz. All super easy if you pay attention to lectures and take notes. There is homework every week, which is super easy, but the reading for them does get long at times. Just set some time apart to do them and you'll do great in this class.
Shes a nice person! Homework is weekly, and graded by the TA not the professor. I have a hard time understanding history so she offers a lot of extra credit which is awesome. If you do all the extra credit and turn in all her weekly homework on time you should do just fine, and obviously study for the exams too. :)
Honestly I did not like this class at all because everything seemed way harder than it needed to be. You have to study so many terms because you don't know which ones are going to be on the test along with a short response question. It is way too much thrown at you for a simple history class.
Great professor! There were only 3 tests which were a midterm, a map quiz, and a final. Overall homework was very simple but some weeks the readings were very long. There is also a very simple paper due in her class, which is due towards the end of the semester. Overall, I would 100% take her class again.
She is a very passionate teacher although there are so many terms you must study for with vague descriptions you never know what to study for and you must study to be successful in her class. She claims to be an easy grader so she does not offer extra credit- though her TA is very picky with grading the writings. Class is fun but the HW is not.
There was 14 assignments and 3 exams, you are allowed to use one notecard front and back. Her TA was great, he graded all the work and was the one to email if you had any questions. For test TA did both a zoom and in person meeting to go over the study guide & what will be on the test. Attendance is important, every time you miss grade will drop.
Weekly reading for class discussion, 3 exams she gives study guide in advance with what she is looking for (two terms + essay question). Two (1-2 page) essays on the reading, gives you two weeks Offers extra credit. Super nice and understanding, take good notes - she tells us most the info and doesn't post slides, just previous recorded lectures.
Weekly reading, three exams you can bring a notecard and she gives study guide early, two mini essays, map quiz you literally print out a filled in map. Super easy class and Jacobs is nice. Yes a lot of reading but I was fine reading just enough to answer the questions and participate is class discussion. Class caused no extra stress for me.
She is awesome
Great, easy class. notecards for each exam (only had 2), one map quiz, and readings each week that she discusses during the lecture. She's really sweet and likes it when people participate, the class felt more laidback than my high school history class.
She's so sweet! she's very understanding and her lectures are amazing.
Great teacher and easy! We have weekly readings (teacher provides them) and we discuss them in class. She does write down who participates in discussions. Her lectures went from start to finish of class, she talks a lot and writes very little on the slides so you have to pay attention. There is a mid term and final, one flashcard allowed.
Take the class! The class consists of weekly readings, discussions every Thursday, 2 reading responses (she only assigned our class 1), midterm exam, map test, and final exam. Some of the readings might be lengthy but overall they are easy to understand. Easy extra credit opportunies. Tests are not hard, literally studied for two days
Very sweet professor, I was a freshman when I took her class and even though it consisted lots of participation, she understood the fact that I was shy and didn't deduct points when I didnt participate. I still had to go up to her after class and give her an answer to recieve full credit.
Great Professor overall
She gives very easy homework and gives essay question quizzes but she lets you have a notecard as your cheat sheet. I've had her for the past three semesters and she has been very nice and helpful. Her lectures are long but they do have a lot of great information that will be on the test and the notecard she allows, helps tremendously.
One of the best professors I've had! She is very knowledgeable in what she teaches. Her slides do not have a lot of info on them and she verbally says the info so even though class is not mandatory, it is good to attend. Her exams are not very hard and you can have a notecard. It is set up where two days is lecture and one is discussion a week!
