I just loved her! She made going to her class the highlight of my day. She knows her craft well and articulates it even better. She basically gives you the test before hand so there is no reason not to get an A. I highly recommend her.

She is an awesome professor. Not quite the higlight of my day but a really cool, personable, and friends teacher who is always there to help out.

Shannon is a professional actress. She also directs at CCCC occasionally and knows what she is teaching. She's a very qualified teacher, and so kind. She Really cares about her students and how they are doing, because this class is quite a mouthful, DRAM 1310 is a Very Tough class if you don't have much time, She is a VERY Helpful teacher though!

SHE IS AWESOME! Going to her class was what I woke up for in the morning. Very friendly. Sometimes off the wall, but a great experience nonetheless. Very very helpful with tests and assignments.

Best teacher Iv ever had! Go to her class and you will learn to become a better person. She is wild, wacky, lots of fun, helpful, understanding and always availble. Yeah, the only teacher i know thjats not afraid to get loose in class. Opened us up really well. im glad i took her class. DIDNT NEED ANY BOOKS EXCEPT FOR THE MAIN TEXTBOOK. books such as a midsummers, swenne todd, and others we barely touched on. i recommend some background info on them that way ur not completely lost. all in all great class!!

Ms. Simmons, Ms. Simmons! Wow! Great teacher and she loves what she teaches. Her classes were always fun to attend and made them very entertaining. The exams weren't difficult long as you study and for the final grade of the semester you put on your own performance with a group. Overall, great teacher, extremely hot! and fun to be around.

Shannon is extremely cool. Her drama class is not easy, especially over the summer, but if you use her study guide, you should make an A. You do have to perform a monologue, but I totally blew it and still made an A. She is very passionate about acting, so if you want to be inspired, I recommend taking her.

Shannon is a great professor. If you love acting and want to take Improv, she's the one. She makes the class enjoyable and you gotta do your part in class and participate. Keep up on lab hours and progress reports and you'll get an A.

She is a great professor! She is very kind and caring. You have to see aleast 3 show and write papers on them, you have 3 test and a group project for your final exam.

I loved Shannon, It was a very relaxed and laid back class. The play quizzes were class discussions and as long as u participated u passed. The test were easy, do the review= pass test. I worked and still seen the plays and wrote the papers and bc she knew ppl worked she has a parachute clause in case time gets cramped and dont do it.

Professor Kearns-Simmons is passionate about theater. Easy to listen to, great instructor. There will be writing, required homework (seeing plays off campus), and the tests are hard if you don't study for them. There is also a required presentation in front of the class. She won't give you a free ride, but she is very fair.

Excellent!! Her passion for theatre shines through her teaching method. There's quite a bit of work required, but nothing outside of the realm of reason. Very open to each individuals uniqueness. I loved her class and will be taking further Theatre courses with her in the future!

She's an amazing teacher. I took her stage movement class and her improv and both were extremely fun, however challenging. It's hard to make yourself do some of the stuff that seems silly, but you'll be glad in the end that you did.

Shannon is a wonderful teacher. She is extremely supportive and wants you to succeed in your college career as a whole. If you don't have an interest, still an extremely fun class for a credit. If you have an interest, she is someone you can learn a great deal from. Summer goes by fast, but the work is a lot of fun and you learn a lot!

Improv with Shannon is a complete must. This class was recommended so often that I had to take it and I'm glad I did.

Took her for Intro to theatre (which is a core) and liked it so much that I took Improvisation with her just cuz. Amazing professor. Very understanding and helpful. A little bit of respect and participation goes a long way with her. I simply love her. I will be taking more classes with her for the sole reason of having her as my professor.

really nice and energetic professor, teaches from ppt so even though book is required, its not necessary. extra credit are plays that students can watch for extra points. attendance is 200 pt so ATTEND CLASS!!! 3 tests, 1 paper,1 group proj., 1 final monologue (1 min 30 sec) class is supper essay just make sure to study the review for tests

Shannon is very cool! she teaches from ppts and you won't ever need the book because you can google the plays that are required anyway. Do the study guides and go to class. Don't even think about cheating too, she walks around. LOL

She is amazing! She gives out power points! Memorize them and pay attention in class. She has personal monologues that you need to perform for a minute and also two papers! Great summer course for an elective! ^_^ she's so energetic! Made me interested in theatre

Awesome teacher! All her assignments are pretty easy and she isn't a hard grader. The tests are multiple choice and the study guides tell you exactly what's on the test. This is probably the easiest class I've ever taken and she really cares about the subject and the student.

Amazing professor! She really cares about her students and gets a upset when they leave class early though. You don't need the book. Her study guides are exactly what you will see on the test.

I've taken Prof Kearns for Intro to Theater and Improv III. She is by far my favorite teacher I've ever had. She is kind and sweet, super empathetic, and a fantastic teacher. I've learned so much from her - not only about the classes she taught, but also about life and loving myself for who I am. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend for everyone.

Very sweet, inspirational teacher. Gives tons of extra credit. Takes a long time to grade assignments. But class is super easy, so I was never worried. Slides are emailed. Good test reviews. 4 tests, 1 paper, 1 group project and 2 monologues. Sounds like a lot of work but it's not. Just an absolutely fantastic lady. Easy A.

One of the best Professor I've ever had! Her class is so easy, no assignments or discussions. Only 2 monologues, 1 essay, and 3 exams. It was such an easy class. Not only easy but such an enjoyable class where Professor Kearns makes you feel like a family with your class mates. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Best professor at Collin College hands down. Helped me and the whole class really find ourselves and made us feel like a family despite meeting for less than a hour three times a week. On attendance its mandatory and can make the difference between an A or a B. Work hard and you'll make an A but this class is by no means a blowoff course. I recommend her.

Professor Kearns is one of the best at Collin as she is always so positive and respectful of other students. Not a day goes by that she doesn't offer some inspirational advice and bring her best self to class. however, sometimes in an attempt to be all-inclusive and thoughtful to other students, she can place excessive restrictions on others.

I used to be a theatre kid from 8th-10th grade but stopped to pursue other subjects. Theatre means a lot to me and taking this class made me realize that I miss theatre. The quality of this class is amazing. I don't like to act with people that aren't going to put effort into acting, but prof Kearns really brought out the best in everyone.

She's truly inspiring and made class enjoyable everyday, she does not mind getting off topic- however that can be irritating to some. She does post a syllabus outlining the year, but it is not uncommon for her to make changes throughout the year and update the syllabus. The only thing "difficult" are the portfolio projects, do! not! procrastinate!

Shannon is really quite something. She cares so much about each and every person in the classroom. She WANTS you to succeed and listens to every word a student says with attentiveness. Shannon is inspirational, motivational, and is your biggest cheerleader. She doesn't ask much from you but what she does ask she wants effort and for it to be good.

Took Maymester, it was very easy and chill. Great professor who brings a lot of good energy. There are a lot of assignments, but they are not difficult and do not require much critical thinking. Highly Recommend!

Shannon is like that mom who gets excited when her child creates something ugly for show and tell. She loves creativity and allows you to have an endless ideas. Not hard. Very relaxed and open minded. very cheerful and positive. Im glad there are people like her in this world.

I took with Professor Kearns for DRAM 1310 and for DRAM 1322. Both classes were a breeze and I adored every minute! You cannot find a more caring and passionate professor. She is super encouraging and creates an incredibly kind and accepting environment. Classes are worth taking no matter your major, they are easy A's and 100% mental sanity saver!

Took for Wintermester & WOW, she is so inspiring! The workload looks like a lot at first (since it is a 2 week class), but once you start doing the work its more than manageable. I have never had any interest in theatre, but had a lot of fun doing the assignments. Didn't need the textbook (PP slides explain most stuff).You will not regret her class

She is a very kind and inspirational type of lady and cares about her students and the subject at hand. At first, reading the syllabus it seemed like a hard and overwhelming class, but its not. Just do the assignments and you'll be fine, she is not a hard grader if you follow the instructions of the assignments (they're specific though).

Take this class! 3 open book exams from the reading, and about 5 Assignments and some Discussion Boards here and there. Overall, work load is manageable just don't procrastinate too much. Professor Kearns' assignments were kind of enjoyable too (wrote our own scene for one), and she always responded quickly to any questions. Super nice person!

Please take any class you can with her. She lights up the room with her presence. She will help you in any way she can.

Professor Kearns made it an environment where everyone was respected. This class explored various movements and characters. There were group movement projects, almost like making a dance, and partner work where you get to act in a scene. If you like theatre and acting, you will enjoy this class! Always memorize your lines for your scenes!

Took her for the wintermester 3 week class, such an amazing professor that wants you to succeed and is so nice. Take her you will not regret it.

I wish I was joking but Kearns is able to clearly share exactly what you need: clear guidelines, easy extra credit, and motivating words since she honest to god genuinely wants to see you succeed.

Professor Kearns was genuinely one of the best professors I've had the pleasure of being taught by. I took this class for my fine arts credit but I genuinely enjoyed doing all of the assignments given to us. Her lectures and assignments are so well thought out and she gives such good feedback when she grades your assignments.

Shannon gives best friend energy; I took her in Fall 2024 for DRAM 1351 and I had to take her again this Spring 2025 for DRAM 1352. She genuinely cares about her students and will talk with us for HOURS if we let her. If you want to take her acting class, I highly recommend it, she makes the two hours pass by so quick.

I could write an essay on why Shannon is the best professor here at Collin. She is the nicest person ever. She gives such great advice, makes you feel at home, gives you the space to just BE, and is the light of your day no matter how you're feeling. If you haven't already, take any of her classes, and she will welcome you with open arms. :)

I took DRAM2366, amazing prof. My only complaint was the workload. We had a quiz and a McGraw-Hill assignment due every week, every other week we also had a discussion board with a required 6 paragraphs. At the end, we had a required creative project and reflection paper on top of that. The good thing is she gives full credit for up to a week late.
