Worst professor ever! Class average is a 70. Doesn't seem to know the material, won't answer questions. Takes 4-6 weeks to grade assignments. Doesn't return tests - so you can't learn from your mistakes. No test reviews. Should have dropped this class. Even if you teach yourself from the book her test questions are incomprehensible.
Teacher does not care about her students. She is not a good teacher. She doesn't let you see what you got wrong on the assignments or on the tests so you can learn from your mistakes. She is rude!!! She always finishes clicker quizzes early before the class starts. I do not recommend this teacher.
Mrs. McCallister is a good teacher. She enjoys the subject and she does her best to make it easy to understand. She may make mistakes on the tests but she does not penalize the students and you may review your tests in her office. READ the book with emphasis on what's in the power points and you will do well.
I really enjoyed her class! The instructor provides clear expectations for assignments and tested material. The labs were a lot of fun and I learned a lot from her class. She's funny and her lectures are interesting!
Great Great!!!! Learned a lot, very helpful, tough but fair. Just print power points and take notes on them. She teaches very well. Would definitely take her again. Material is useful in other courses like anatomy. Again fantastic professor! She gives lots of opportunity for extra credit too!
I love her! She is an expert in microbiology and she is passionate about. She holds test reviews and offers tons of extra credit on tests. I cannot get over how amazing this woman is. One of the best professors I've ever had at ODU!!
Very intelligent professor, loved her class. She makes class interesting (as much as possible). Many opportunities for extra credit. Class material is difficult, however she is VERY passionate about micro and loves to see you come to her office hours.
Great professor! You could tell she loved the subject and made class interesting. Tons of extra credit and she has review sessions before each exam. She wants to see her students do well.
She is awful! Mostly reads from the slides and doesn't explain well. She talks down to students and is very inconsiderate. We had an extremely hard test the day we got back from Thanksgiving break.
Useless to know her 100 slide PowerPoints for each chapter because on test she purposely tries to trick you with EVERY question. Yes, she does have office hours that she makes available to "help" her students. But, she talks down to students and is rude. No one wants to meet with a professor like that one on one. Should change to 200 level course
This has been the hardest class I've ever taken and that's after taking 300 and 400 level classes. The professors expectations for this course are un realistic. I'm not sure if she understands that students are attending other classes be sides her. Expect to spend 15 plus hours a week studying to get a decent grade.
I honestly feel that the only positive reviews on her were posted by her. Each one sounds and is written exactly the same. It doesn't help that the extra credit consist of a 100 questions for each chapter and is only worth ONE point. Worst teacher ever. Congratulations Professor Mccalister, all your students despise you.
Very frustrating class, but it's doable. Gives lots of busy work. Study ppts; most of the test Q's come from there. Never studied except for the night before the test and always got an A. Unit 4 is very hard. She's very sweet and means well. Don't personally insult her just bc you got a bad grade. She's very fair and knowledgeable.
Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had to endure. Teaches the class like an upper division class when this it is a general education. Passionate but unnecessary waste of time on useless material. One of those teachers who is more interested in tricking you than actually testing your knowledge.
Worst professor i've ever had at ODU, and that's saying a lot. This is a 100 level class but she acts like its a 300-400 level one. Has 90+ slides for each chapter PP but we don't even use all the information. Makes us buy a book that we don't even use. Schedules tests on days other than the day we would normally have lectures, which is just stupid
Horrendous. Crazy hard with so much busy work all the way to final. Treats everyone like they are 10. Condescending and often just rude. Really you will regret taking her course. This is a severe hazard warning which you ignore at your own peril. H/w took 5 hours per night was not relevant and did not receive even one marked paper. 2000 slides.
she does not answer questions or grade work and has over 2000 power point slides. The h/w was irrelevant but took 3-4 hours per night. Tests were designed to trick you. Her math is outrageous and mostly incorrectly worded making it impossible. To be avoided at all costs. She is rude and basically trying to grade nothing at your expense. Worst ever!
Most health related students are required to take her. Definitely not a 100 level course. Tests are way harder than study materials. She's a firm grader. Asked for help a lot and she seemed to always make me feel stupid for asking questions. ODU needs to hire an additional teacher because I feel sorry for you that she's the ONLY option. Good luck.
Homework assignments take hours for no reason, 200 question online extra credit assignments, no test reviews although she "tries" to do online "review" session but they are awkward and do not help AT ALL. She means well and tries to be fair but comes off very rude. If ODU had another professor, I wouldn't recommend her but they don't so good luck
nice lady but TERRIBLE professor. Her test are made to trick you and sometimes youll have so many assignments from her you cant devote all your time to studying for her exam. shes very rude in class but nice when you go to her one on one. you will have assignments all the way until finals week (even on finals weeks). AVOID HER CLASS!!
DO NOT TAKE HER if you can. It is the most information packed class ever. One test will be 6 chapters. She does gives extra credit but for one point you'll spend 3 hours doing it She will pick random people out in lecture to answer questions and it is awful. So many assignments all the time. There are clicker questions each class, so stressful
Professor McCallister is awesome! Meeting with her one-on-one help A LOT because all of the material requires extra effort but at the end of the semester it is worth it. Very fun class as long as you actually come to class and do what needs to be done!
If you can take it elsewhere, try to. She is absolutely ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, she lectures great, but her attitude and disrespect is not worth it. She is not nice. Test are PACKED with up to 7 lengthy chapters. She also gave out 5 assignments to do, less than a week before our final. Prepare yourself.
AVOID THIS CLASS AND PROFESSOR AT ALL COST!! She is extremely rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful. There is way too much homework and the tests are often misleading. Lectures are okay but overall it's just not a good class. Mainly because of her. Wish ODU had more than one professor to teach this course. Good luck.
Microbiology is an EXTREMELY hard class, but she does her best to make it comprehendable. Lots of homework, tests are very hard, but labs are fun. I really enjoyed this class. She doesnt do A- or B-, she only does the letter, so an 81 would be a B. She offers extra credit. You have to work for a good grade in this class, but she is very helpful.
Professor McCallister gives thorough lectures and plenty of opportunities for extra credit. She is very prompt with grading and posting assignments. Yes, there is quite a bit of homework and reading, but it's a college course. Her tests are a good representation of lecture material. Go to class and you will do fine. Does do clicker questions.
If YOU HAVE the option not to take her class DO NOT and I say DO NOT take it unless you have time for 5 hours of homework just for one class. Last week of summer class and you still have probably 50 assignments due. Do not take her if you do not need to. I had more busy work and than time that I could study for the class.
My advice would be to try your best to AVOID this professor. You will be assigned entirely too much work every other day (depending on when you have it) for it to be an introductory class. there is extra credit however answering 200 questions for 2 points isn't worth it. the quizzes do not help you on the exam. save your grade and time.
Mrs. McCalister is a nice down to earth person, but not a very good professor. Homework and quizzes take forever and don't even help towards any tests. Gives extra credit but takes forever to finish for only 1 point. Tests are very tough, study weeks before instead of the night before. Makes you feel dumb sometimes when questions are asked.
I believe she is the only professor for bacteriology, so you can't avoid her. Try and power through the class. An extensive h/w assignment (40-80 questions) and quiz (10-25 questions) is due every class. If you want to maintain any feeling of self worth, don't ask questions during lecture or "review" sessions. She is very demeaning to students.
The online homework & quizzes don't help for your test at all. If you do the practice you can get 100% on the quizzes cause that's where all the answers are. Study her power points! Make your own charts & ways to learn the information There's lots of extra credit opportunities even on tests! Gives recap questions that are very similar to test ques
She is such a tough teacher for no reason, its like she sets you up to fail. She packs in all these unnecessary details into her lectures. She assigns homework for the powerpoint that she reviews in class the next day, and it doesn't even help. Her tests are super hard and detailed, avoid taking her.
The most busy work ever
This is supposed to be an intro level class and it feels like I signed up to be in a 400+ level class. This is the WORST class I've ever taken. DO NOT take this class if you don't have to. Homework & quizzes due before EVERY class, and that's not including the lab homework that coincides with the lecture. Nice person, but a terrible professor.
An A is possible, but you really have to work for it. What I did was did a little work at a time so I wasn't overwhelmed with homework for lecture and lab. One thing I didn't like was how she didn't seem very approachable. Study her pp's!!!! Only really use the text for quizzes and hw. Take advantage of the extra credit, clicker points, & lab!!!!!!
Can come off intimidating but is nice if you get to know her. Be on top of your work & always do extra credit and only study the powerpoints. The textbook does not help much, her tests are based on the powerpoints. Do HW, Ask questions, answer questions, attend class and you will pass :) Goodluck and study hard!
The bad reviews are here b/c people don't have good time management skills and don't do their work. Required HW before class and quizzes after, it is extremely helpful for understanding. She offers a TON of opportunity for help and for extra credit, and her tests are from her PP and her EC Study/review. If you do the work, you'll get a good grade!
She is very nice and a great professor! However the class is very hard. Have to read the textbook to understand the material. She is willing to help out but you MUST do the work.
This is not taught like an intro level class. The material is hard and is taught at a very fast pace. Be prepared for tons of busy work. There are 4 tests, a mid-term and a final. She is not very clear when it comes to what to study. She is rude when you ask question. All in all, I would avoid this class at all costs. She sets you up to fail.
Very hard class. You must do extra credit to pass.
I really enjoyed this class because McCallister is super passionate about what she teaches. It is not hard it is just a lot to memorize. DO THE MCCALLISTER QUESTIONS. They will help you for the exam. Do the quizzes before class and the HW after. If you can, I recommend doing all extra credit. It saves your grade! Study the powerpoints for sure.
Professor McCallister is very unclear and not very helpful when it comes to her material. Be ready to work and make sure to take advantage of the extra credit. Whatever is in the material is "fair game" for the tests and she moves at a very fast pace in her lectures. This course is not taught nor graded at a 100 level class by any means.
Hardest class you will ever take, and beware Shannon can be a little demeaning and rude. Go to class for the clicker points & do all the extra credit that you can. Study every night. You have to work for your grade in this class. Don't ask for help, and it surely will not be given.
Her class is not graded by any means on a 100 level. You can't even access old tests to study from for the final which makes no sense! If you don't do the extra credit you won't pass. I literally watched her belittle a fellow classmate in lab for asking for math help.
Will give you around 400-450 ppt slides and expect you to learn and be tested on the material every 3ish weeks. Exams aren't curved. Gives lengthy ex. credit that are only worth 1 point in the grade gradebook (not worth it) I spend so much time trying to complete HW and extra credit that i don't have time/energy to study for tests.
If you don't go to class, this is not the class for you. If you don't plan on studying a week before a test, this class is not for you. If you don't plan on teaching yourself, this is not the class for you. She is very smart but she does't know how to teach. She expects you to teach yourself 50-150 slides on your own and then be tested on it.
The class isn't really that bad you just have to be prepared to be challenged and study. Most of it is common sense when you actually look at it. She's very passionate about what she teaches and sometimes makes it interesting. She kinda treats you like kindergarteners sometime though. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!
McCallister is an amazing professor. She literally gives 50+ points of extra credit a semester. While you have to work for these points, they also help you learn. The tests are based on the powerpoints, every answer can be found on a slide. She is an excellent lecturer and the poor reviews are from individuals that didn't study enough.
Professor McCallister is very passionate about microbes so she made the class interesting. She gives clicker questions throughout every lecture so you need to go to class. This class is very content heavy and you will not be able to pass this class with a good grade if you do not study. She gives so much extra credit which is great!
This class is not one where you can look over the notes once and think you'll pass. Yes, you have to work for the A but being a nursing major I did not find this difficult because I am devoted to my school work. You may have to give up a weekend of partying to study, but it's worth it. Labs are super fun!!!!
This class is a lot of work but if you put in the time to learn the material you should be ok. It's not an easy A you have to really work for it. As a nursing major I found the class extremely interesting and I enjoyed taking it but I had to skip going out a lot to stay in and study. Overall not the work class ever
Prof. McCallister is super passionate about microbes, so she tries to make the class fun and interesting. What makes this class difficult is the amount of content for each unit, which can be pretty overwhelming. You must work for the grade you want. Be sure to take advantage of as much extra credit as you can, it can save your grade!
When I read her reviews I was nervous to take her but she is the only professor who teaches this course. She offers so much extra credit. She is very passionate about the content you will be learning. She can be a bit short when answering questions dont be nervous just participate. Easy A loved this class.
This class does not seem like a level 100 class because she teaches as if it is a 300 one. She offers numerous extra credit but her lectures are useless. She reads off the PowerPoint during lectures so you can basically just stay home and learn it but you'll miss out on clicker points. Her tests are difficult unless you stay on top and study.
where to begin... definetly not a 100 level course. be prepared to memorize 125+ slide powerpoints cus if ya dont ur going to fail. She's too strict and will call you out if your phone even vibrates. Im having a horrible time in this class.
Prof. McCallister is really passionate about Bacteriology and knows what she is talking about. This class isn't an easy A, you can't just show up and skim over notes and expect to pass. You HAVE to work in this class or it will be hard. As a nursing major this class is very interesting and she makes it fun to learn.
This is a hard class, but she definitely prepares you for all of the assignments. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities. For her exams, you need to do the extra credit practice assignments because that's pretty much whats on the test. Pay attention and you'll be fine.
Anatomy is a hard class, but Mccallister really gives her students the tools needed to succeed, and is also really funny. The tests are based on the textbook. I found that was the best way to study is by answering the questions in the textbook. Take advantage of open labs if you want to succeed.
As long as you go to class and pay attention you should be fine. Going over the slides at home before each test is key. She's a really good professor, but there is a lot of material. Some of the chapters are harder than others and need to be gone over multiple times to understand. You have to work for your grade.
Very strict, but be respectful and do your work and you will pass. Fast paced class, but if you are willing to do work she will let you earn an A! Every class is mandatory due to clicker points, but as long as you pay attention and do your work you will earn the grade you want. Best advice- do not get on her bad side!
1 word: compulsive. Tests are about every 2-3 weeks. The only thing useful for the tests are practice extra that don't provide answers. There's a broad amount of information for things that are simple. Makes the subject seem like way more than it needs to be. Most of the power points are extremely large and unorganized.
If you skip class, you'll fail. She tests from her lectures, tests usually have 3 chapters in each one. Tons of extra credit offered, almost half a letter grade worth. She's obviously enthusiastic about the subject and is very knowledgeable.
Horrible professor. Lectures are usually her expecting you to remember things from high school biology. Some chapters she doesnt even teach on she tells you to read and teach yourself the chapter at home. Test every 2 weeks with nothing from her lectures. Does extra credit but thats the only thing thatll help you pass the class.
By far one of the best classes I have taken. Show up, take notes, study, and you will succeed in her class. Those complaining should go back to basics, this is college, not high school. You need this class for any medical field related major, and she is very passionate about what she teaches. You want to complain- take Stevens A&P...
This is a VERY difficult class, but she offers an extreme amount of extra credit. I received an A in the class, but without her extra credit, I probably would've gotten a B-. McCallister practice assignments are very helpful. During lecture she just reads off the powerpoints, but there is participation points during lecture so don't skip.
This class was an easy A for me. Prof. McCallister is very caring and understanding of her students. She offers ample extra credit and spends a lot of time making sure her students understand the material. She hosts study sessions every week. I did all of the extra credit and finished the class with above a 100%. Take her!!
Not specific with emails. You have 5 test and a final about 13 HW assignment, the lowest of each gets dropped. Offer ALOT of extra credit, make sure you attend study sessions. Test are hard if you don't study and know the information
This professor makes her best effort to help stick the material in your head, but she spends a lot of time making similes that don't make sense. You'll be graded on remembering her *cute* ways of remembering things. When Paul Revere is an answer on a Biology exam, it's ridiculous. Doesn't help students, lots of extra credit, good grade, 0 learning.
Professor McCallister knows her microbiology! Some may disagree, but I thought she was a good teacher . Yeah its hard and you have to really pay attention and study to be successful in the class , but its worth it. She offers a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it .Only thing I didnt like was she expects us to know the material ASAP.
She sucks as a teacher. expects you to know everything before teaching it. Makes you do A LOT of self teaching. She does NOT respond to emails and is very rude. The only good thing I have to say about her class is that she does offer a lot of extra credit, and I highly suggest using it because that will be the only way to pass her class.
Do not take her! She is a horrible teacher she always has an attitude and treats the students like they are children not adults. She requires attendance and frequently posts hard homework hours before its due. Rarely replies to emails and when she does she frequently has attitude and doesnt answer questions.
Professor McCalister was VERY hard. The course itself was hard, but she expected us to already know a lot of the material. I actually had to withdraw from her course after receiving 60s on the first 3 exams. Tests are very often and the course is lecture heavy. I wish this course had gone differently because the content was actually very interestin
She aint that bad, its just that she makes us to do a lot of homework and know it right away. The test was tough if you dont try to analyze it and study. Her ppt actually summarizes and explains what you need to know for the test. I received an A in her class it was because I worked hard for it. Just took advantage to all the extra credits !!
Honestly this is the worst class i have ever taken. She is so rude and nasty to all of her students she is very sarcastic. All her PowerPoints are over 200 slides which means for each test you have to know about 600-800 slides worth of information for each test. It is very fast pace, I only passed because of the extra credit. Lab is the best part
Mrs. Mccallister is not that bad. It is an extremely difficult class. I was putting in hours and hours of work for this class. If you do ALL the assignments, get ALL the attendance participation, do ALL the extra credit, and study hard you can get an A.
I would not take this professor again. She was honestly never in a good mood coming to class. The homework load is tremendous! You definitely need to do the extra credit to pass. Every test is 70 questions.
If you dont get an A in this class, youre not trying. There is loads of extra credit for social media, study sessions, and online quizzes. There is 5 tests, about 3 homework assignments per unit, and extra credit assignments. Going to class will help with attendance points and tophat. Read the lectures BEFORE class. Got a 99.7% for my overall.
Professor Mccallister is one of my favorite professors to date! The material is very in depth, but her passion is contagious. I learned more from her than two Biology classes combined. Lastly, she gives a TON of extra credit opportunities and is always willing to help. I would take her again in a heart beat!
She was a nice teacher, but was very hard. I expected the material to be hard, but I did not find her very helpful. I went to all classes, read the book, took notes, watched videos, went to study sessions, asked for help and still failed 4/5 exams. I ended the class with a B+ due to the amount of extra credit she gives. Good Luck.
She doesnt really goes into detail when going over powerpoint lectures. Constantly states that shes a lecturer and not a professor. She expects you to remember everything from high school biology. Exams are always different from what we learn in class, questions are always whats on the homework that she tells us to not worry about too.
I don't understand the low rating for Prof M. If you take the time to study, do the homework and look over the extra credit assignments you will do well on her exams. Yeah it's a lot of material but that's expected for a college class. her powerpoints are organized and has graphs and other visuals to help you, usually has summaries in the end too
She was an "ok" professor, her lectures were sometimes confusing. But if you spend time studying the powerpoints and do the assignments for each unit you should pass.
She offers lots of extra credit, but make sure you keep up with schedule and don't fall behind.
Lecture Heavy, very long powerpoints. HORRIBLE at responding to emails, Lots of extra credit offered so take advantage of it. Test are a lot of matching, select all that apply. Attendance is mandatory and Tophat is used for class.
Def recommend! She is awesome! Gives out tons of extra credit opportunities. I recommend doing all of them. Her MC practice assignments will help you on the tests. You'll have to work hard and study in this class but she gives many opportunities to help. She offered study sessions after many of our classes. Not an easy A, lots of content.
5 exams, 13 HWs , 1 movie assignment, and lab. Exams are alright, just make sure you study. A lot of extra credit. The MC practice assignments include questions right off the test. Probably have a B if I didn't do EC. The online lab course is easier, but you don't get to do the cool stuff irl. Attendance isn't graded, but lectures help a lot.
She is actually a great lecturer, but she is so serious it makes things hard to want to learn. Attending the lectures really helps you pass (and they are mandatory). She gives A LOT of extra credit so you will be alright. She gives 5 tests plus the final which aren't terrible is you do the practice assignments. Participation in class is encouraged.
What she focuses on in lectures doesn't always include everything you need to know for homework&tests. Learned what I needed to know on my own but lectures are mandatory. Tests were lengthy, hard, & content heavy. Long powerpoints but provides them for you + extra credit for every chapter. Not necessarily a bad prof, just prepare to work real hard.
This class was tough but doable! I found the lectures engaging and easy to follow, however for a class with this much material its impossible to get everything into 1-hour classes, so be ready to do a lot of at-home studying and work. If you put time and effort into this class you can make good grades easy. Lots of chances for extra credit too!
She is an amazing lecturer and always finds fun ways to remember things. She always offers up her time outside of class and will help in any way possible. I would definitely take her again. It seems like it would be impossible to fail her class. She offers so much extra credit that I finished with about 1100/1000 points, and I did not do it all.
This course was challenging but doable! Reading the textbook was essential to my success. Watching the recorded lectures was also necessary, even when they were super long. There are 5 tests and homework due every week (you get three attempts on each homework). Definitely difficult, but professor was always helpful and lectures were so informative.
shes a good professor, really wants people to understand the content
Shannon is my favorite professor! Although I am in the asynchronous course, her lectures are entertaining, NOT monotone, and inciteful. She spends time preparing these lectures, making it easier to understand the dense information. Amazing. YOU NEED TO PUT IN THE WORK! Lots of hw, but those are free extra points. No final, lots of extra credit.
She is such an amazing professor. If you email her about something, she will definitely get back to you at a reasonable time. You can tell she definitely cares about her students success.
Shannon is amazing! She really breaks down the material so it makes sense! There's a ton of homework every week. If you put in the effort, you will pass this class - DO NOT expect to just glide by this class. Exams are difficult but she gives out plenty of different versions of the practice exam for extra credit. No cumulative final. WATCH LECTURE.
Lectures were never boring, made the subject easy to understand and always answered questions with great explanations. Lectures tied well with labs, and she gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit. One of my favorite classes.
Taking her in person lecture rn, and she cannot keep to the given time frame. Always goes over class time and even assigns last minute timed questions when the time is up. Since she can't stay aware of time she ends up skipping over notes. She rambles about her kids and minor topics often. Major things are skipped extra credit is available though.
She assigns TopHat questions without telling you sometimes, you gotta always check that. She also ends class at like 12:20 when class ends at 12:15. Exams and homeworks are super easy and you know when everything is due. As long as you show up there is no reason why you can't get an A. Also get Stephanie Grizzard as your TA she's the goat love her
SHE IS AMAZING! Although this was an online course she kept us updated, and always responded fast to emails. There are 5-6 homework every week, and they come from the lecture (and you get three tries on them) SHE ALSO OFFERS SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT!! Up to 9 points to your grade on each unit test. IF YOU DON'T LIKE DOING WORK YOU WON'T PASS!!
Dr. McCallister is a super sweet professor that responds quickly to emails. The microbiology class is an easy A as long as you attend her lectures. She gives literally all the info you need in the powerpoints to study. I got 90+ on all my exams and the homework can be corrected so youll pass even with just the homeworks being done
Easy class. A lot of extra credit, clear grading criteria. Open note tests that u take online and at home. A lot of extra "gimme points" that provide a nice cushion. Final is actually fun and interesting. My only problem is the random Top Hat questions, and her CONSISTENTLY going past the end of class time and being angry when people try to leave.
HIGHLY recommend taking microbio lab online. Each lab is basically a VR game with questions built in. The grades don't come from doing the lab correctly, but rather periodic questions. Most of the questions are easy, or if you can't find the answer just click the theory tab and you can usually figure it out (as a last resort, quizlet).
For an online class she can be really hard to reach. LOTS of lectures and notes (to be expected online and in person). I feel like taking this class in person is more beneficial bc of the group environment that comes with it. Doing it online and alone is kinda tough. Take notes, tests, weekly homework and discussions. A lot of stuff but doable.
She's nice but will NEVER respond to emails. The tests are worth 50% of your grade so even one 70% knocks your grade down horribly. There are barely enough assignments to make your grade up and the in class top-hat assignments are horrible. The WIFI never works in her class; she always skips questions which count as wrong and lowering your grade.
This class was very easy if you take notes and watch the lectures. There are homework assignments every week that are on quizlet so it is easy to raise grades. She offers a lot of extra credit. All the tests are timed, with around 60-70 questions but open notes. Very easy to pass this class if you take the time to study.
She's a great teacher and provided very informative lectures... for the tests i mainly studied her recorded lectures and never read the book. You must attend class for the required tophat questions each lecture, but the homework is easy. Tests are difficult, but if you study well for them you shouldn't have a problem because they're open note.
Online lab was a very easy A if you follow along and use the resources. Labs took about an hour a week. It's all through a lab simulation software. It was kind of slow on my macbook air so I would recommend to go to a desktop computer for a smoother experience. The labs were great and went along with lecture.

I studied 10hr/week for an A.
She is very good at teaching and explaining the material. I will say she can have a bit of a tone sometimes but other than that she's a pretty nice professor. She offers extra credit and the exams are tough but open notes. Still study though because you won't be able to fully rely just on notes.
Prof is very knowledgable but there is lots of content. She gives lots of extra credit esp at end of semester so you have no reason to fail. Her exams are pretty difficult but are open note so as long as you take decent notes you are fine. She tried to encourage participation and would get upset if you didn't. Tophat was required and used daily.
Mrs. McCallister uses real-world experiences to tie in Microbiology. Her tests are difficult but read the textbook and write notes after or before class. Come into class ready to learn what she is talking about, there are a lot of small parts and it is easy mess up.
She was very attentive and creative with her teaching. She sometimes had us do interactive work which helped me learn better. Definitely need to go into class to learn easier because she actually explains the slides and not read them word for word. Would take again.
I loved this class. Very interesting and not super difficult. Lockdown browser tests. McGraw Hill and Packback homework. Video and powerpoint lectures provided. Lots of extra credit and extra help offered. Practice exams were extra credit and had the questions as the exams. Final exam is watching a movie and answering some questions.
love her, she caters to all types of learning (I have adhd ). top hats move fast so pay attention in class. has many resources to help you succeed in her class. makes class fun, attendance is mandatory. has tons of extra credit to give you a cushion. the final is so much fun.
Wasn't a bad class, she uses top hat which you'll have to pay for but it's not really expensive. Top hat participation is graded at the end of the semester so make sure to do them. Exams are online and on lockdown browser but she does extra credit
