Class is kind of pointless but there are pop quizzes on homework readings. Feels like a pointless class if you already know how to read symbols and write essays properly. Hard marker, for some reason she grades how much is complete at the end of a midterm - even though there's only 50 minutes to write an essay and answer short answer questions!

Shannon was very nice and helpful. I found she was a bit of a hard marker though. Attendance is mandatory and part of your grade. Class participation is also really big with her, and she will call on you at the most random moments so be prepared. All in all, great prof.

Evening class with Shannon was wonderful. She is engaging, funny, and very patient. The class includes a lot (not alot) of writing, but even those who weren't strong in English profited. I would take any class with her in the future, and most of my classmates agree. We wish she was teaching ENGL103 next term.

One of the best experiences I've had in English yet! Shannon is very helpful for people who have had trouble in English! She is always in her office during her scheduled hours and has no hesitation when it comes to answering your questions outside of class! Great teacher!

Shannon is a really good prof and she's knowledgeable and fair when it comes to marking! I love her as a prof and a person! She's super helpful and she cares about how you're doing! My only issue is she tries almost too hard to be a friend to everyone, and it takes like 10 minutes away from some classes (which is a big deal in a 1 hour class).

Shannon is an extremely educated woman who definitely knows her stuff. She is very helpful and gives excellent feedback on her assignments. You are expected to hang in assignments on time as she does stick to the late policy fairly closely. Go to class, do your homework, and you will love Shannon as a teacher.

I loved Shannon. Im not an english person but she made me want to come to class every day and learn about it. She made a huge effort to get to know you on a personal level and loved to get the class to interact with one another. She gives lots of homework but nothing difficult if you put some effort in. I have never enjoyed an english class before I took Shannon's course. No strict syllabus, she just effectively takes the class where it needs to be. EXTREMELY helpful in office hours. She is very intelligent and easy going and clearly knows exactly what she's doing when it comes to teaching. For every assignment she allows you to bring in your rough draft as many times as you would like for assessment and grade estimate . SUPER helpful.

Wow! Best English teacher I have ever have, might even go as far to say the most intelligent as well, not once did someone ask her a question and she choked up. She has an answer for everything but of course sometimes takes some time to think about it. Marked a little hard considering how much work I put in but wow did I learn a lot, very smartlady

Shannon is a great professor, but for an 8am class it truly felt useless attending. I honestly feel like I would of been fine not attending, but since attendance was part of % didn't wanna risk that. All we did was read from the books and she would make LOTS of class discussion, you really have to participate as it counts for a certain % as well.

She is the best English teacher I had since I was in Kindergarten. She's like a second mother to me as she was very nice and baked us cookies at the end of the semester. Her lectures are captivating as she teaches and paces at a speed the class can understand. Also, she lets you hand in assignments a week later after the due date.

I'm not the best at writing (normally between 72 to 80) and I found her to be a tough marker. She's quirky and passionate about the material but the readings were really tough to get through because they were really dry. If you're normally a good writer and love reading you'll do fine but if you struggle with them and want a good grade try another.

The best English teacher Ive had on a Post-Secondary level. She gives engaging lectures that make even the shiest people want to participate. Her grading system is excellent, and helps to easily break down where you need to improve.

She makes extra time for students outside of class (use this!!) to help you with every assignment, giving instant feedback on your writing and how to improve it. The classes themselves are also interesting, with time to ask as many questions as you like and are full of engaging discussions. I went from 75% in my writing to 90% thanks to her.

Ms. Robertson is by far the best English professor Ive had in post secondary. She cares about each student individually, and wants you to succeed. She gives extra time for almost every assignment if needed, and is very easy to reach out of class. Would take again for sure, and would reccomend for anyone looking for an english 103 or english 102

Probably the best prof I have had. Got lots of extra time to do my assignments and got great feedback which helped me improve. She is very understanding and great to share problems or have discussions with.

Ms. Robertson is a fantastic teacher! As long as you read the stories and poems and make good notes on the things that she says you'll do great. We read a book and a play in this class, but you only need to know one of them really well because you can write your long essay and exam question on the same story. I never wrote anything about the book.

Robertson is an angel easy marker who replies to emails quickly and is helpful. only wrote 5 short essays expect to have many discussions to complete. Other than that, I recommend taking her class

Dr Robertson is an awesome professor. She replies emails quickly, as long as you have a problem she would help you as much as she can. She gives good feedback on your work and point out where you went wrong for future references. Overall nice and caring personality. 10/10 would recommend!

One of the most understanding professors I have encountered. Shannon understood the stress students endure in these COVID times. She responds very quickly and always makes sure her students are comfortable. I was not in a classroom with her, but she made it feel like it was with her responses. Best Prof Ever!

She made this class really enjoyable. We spent a lot of time reading books/textbooks together as a class. The class took turns reading but she never forced anybody to participate. She asked us how we wanted to learn and adapted to what we wanted to do whether that be group learning, independent reading, or class discussions.

Shannon is very kind and wants you to do your best. She allows for late submissions and goes above and beyond to include everyone in her class. She takes the time if you need it, and never makes your questions feel dumb, even if they were already answered in her class.

One of my favorite professors I've had. She is generous with deadlines and her lectures were very easy to stay engaged in. She grades pretty hard, especially on the critical analysis assignment; however if you ask for help she will give you lots of good advice.

This class was my favourite class of the term. Shannon not only had fun lectures, she also made everyone feel comfortable to participate. I usually am a quiet student but in her class I felt at home and joined into many conversations. That's something I also enjoyed, it felt like a conversation with colleagues rather than a boring lecture.

Professor Robertson is an excellent English professor, and is always available to her students during office hours. If I could do one thing differently, I would take advantage of office hours to get feedback prior to handing in assignments, but overall, a great course and a great professor.

She will make you not hate poetry or Shakespeare. She encourages asking questions, and coming to office hours and will do literally everything in her power to make sure you get a grade you're happy with. DON'T USE AI! That is literally the only way to fail the course, you cannot fool her.

She was professional, and super down to earth. Be ready to bring the textbooks required because she does NOT do anything with slides. She engages with her class constantly. She grades fairly and provides feedback in the form of scores, so take advantage of office hours for sure. We only had three major assignments, and then one hand-written final.
