By far the worst instructor I've ever had!! I was warned by other instructors in HER MATH DEPARTMENT that she was horrible, but brushed off their comments. I cannot explain how hard she is to understand, she doesnt cover any material that is in the course text book. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH HER!

I hate to slam her but if you struggle at math, avoid, avoid avoid. She is not willing to clarify and makes you feel stupid for asking questions.

I thought she was really hot, and her english was the great. LOVe THE ACCENT!

This prof puts things down on the board and then says "but don't do it this way" By far the worst math class I have ever taken. she is hard to understand and blows up in your face if you ask for help.

shes so hard and like everyone else said if u ask her a question she gets mad, she has no idea what shes teaching so goodluck if your with her!!!

Shanty does explain some things well but has very poor classroom/time management skills. She spent way too much time on unimportant things and completely rushed through the end of the course. She also has ZERO people skills and yells at you if you ask a question. I wrote her final today and there were topics on it that were never covered.

i thought that shantyyyyyyy was a decent teacher but could barely grasp the english language as she couldnt spell and couldnt say certain words and expected everyone to understand her THICK accent. anyways call me shanty;)

Very difficult to understand given her heavy accent. When asked for extra assistance she was abrupt and created more confusion. On a number of occasions she provided one explanation but in class gave a completely different. She also moved way to fast through the course and missed a number of crucial topics that were not covered on exams. Stay away!

Shanty is very unhelpful and often argues with her students. She is very difficult to understand she takes longer than the class runs very often. We had a group project lost marks because we didn't have parts of it done, which she did not mention to us. Avoid if you can!

Went into this class with an intermediate understanding of algebra. She would get extremely angry when my group mates wouldn't grasp a concept right away. One kid was transferred from 0130 to this class and didn't have the tutorial done, as he wasn't even registered at the time. She told him to "get it together" in front of the entire class. Avoid.

Shanty is probably one of the worst profs ever. She is unwilling to help you and will say that is wrong and walk away and not try to help you. She talks down to students and makes them feel bad infront of everyone. She yelled at me for using a paperclip not a staple on an assignment. Do not take a class with her. They should get rid of her.

Hard to understand and the she seems to expect that all her students are math geniuses. She would just say over and over "this is easy". She would also start the class, 5 or sometimes even 10 minutes early so you'd miss the intro.

Shanty lectures quite fast, and often gets mad when you are unable to keep up. She does not like to give breaks and will sometimes tell us shes giving us a 10 minute break, and then will start teaching 3 minutes later again. Would not recommend.

Shanty Elias is an instructor I hope to never have again. She yells at the students, and doesn't listen, understand, empathize, or be patient with any of her students. I got 100% on my last test, and I genuinely feel that this is because I had not attended her class for nearly a month. I feel sorry for the students who take her class next semester

Shanty is awful She would often get upset and be very rude when students asked questions She didn't seem to grasp the material herself other students frequently had to correct her mistakes From what I've gathered, most of my classmates also had trouble with the course and had to seek outside help I'm surprised she's still employed

I've never been so unhappy with a teacher in my life. Shanty makes learning dreadful. When you ask questions, she gets snappy and rude and never answers the question. Most of my classmates I've talked too learned more from Vretta than Shanty. I'm shocked she hasn't been fired, please never take her class, especially if math isn't your favourite

I am a SAIT student and joined the statistics course. Other instructors practice the question with Excel. The speaker said she is not good at Excel and copying answers from paper and handwriting for all classes. Do you think I can pass? The speaker said she is teaching statistics, not Excel. This is the most exciting experience in the program.

I am a student at SAIT in Shanty's quantitative methods. We are in an introductory course and she throws formulas at us that we have never seen before and we are expected to understand. Our whole class is struggling, also does not like when questions are asked. Barks at us for not writing formulas fast enough. Does not explain anything to student

Im a student at SAIT and taking her statistics class. IVE NEVER BEEN SO UNHAPPY WITH A TEACHER. DONT TAKE HER CLASS. She's not a very effective teacher, why did she choose to teach? She doesn't make sure that we understand her class, she'll just move on to another topic. She's a tough grader. No one is good enough for her she always gives low marks

Interacting with Ms. Elias can be pretty challenging due to her rigorous and demanding teaching style. Her high standards and strict adherence to academic protocol can be a bit daunting at times.

I have never been so unhappy with a professor. Everything is wrong with her and her teaching methods. It's quite surprising how she is still teaching when so many students complain about her.

Horrid. Absolutely worst teacher I've EVER had just wanted to pass math but her grading system is like 2 quizzes (10% final mark each), midterm(25%), final (25%) + 2 assignments. PROVIDES NO EXTERNAL RESOURCES. NO NOTES. JUST MONOTONE LECTURES AND A SHAZZ TON OF HOMEWORK [with zero explanations on how to do them of course :)) ]

Shanty is very brutal and abrupt with her students and does not encourage learning. Emphasis that the class should already know how to do the course. Videos in her course were informative, difficult to understand with bad mic. Tests were bad with 3 units per test. Homework where she chooses 5 questions to mark out of 25? Go for Evan Slade Instead.

Extremely rude teacher. Speaks down on students. Very hard to understand. If you have her as your prof I would suggest dropping her class immediately. Terrible !!

Shanty is rude to her students when you ask for simple help, her instructions are unclear, and she grades very harshly. Choose a different class if you have the option.

horrible gets mad when you ask a question and dosent help, her answer key is wrong and then when you correct her she gets mad and tries to prove that she knows how to do math, dosent explain the concepts just writes straight off the powerpoint. horrible teacher would not reccomend if u have her drop the class immediataly

RUN!!!. Dont bother taking her class. It is almost impossible to understand her aside from when she constantly belittles you and yells at you for asking any question regarding the course material. Our class nearly and still might start a petition to get her removed as a prof because she has no business teaching here or anywhere ever!! Horrid

Never in my life have I had to teach myself more course content on my own. Easily the worst teacher I have ever had in my life, I have been ridiculed by her more than I have learned. Class average for our first test was 36% so a group of students including myself were forced to skip classes to all attempt to teach ourselves in empty classrooms.

she doesn't know how to explain BMAT to students, lecture is so fast you won't understand a thing, you need to rely on the online tutorial in BMAT in SAIT. even if you ask or clarify something, she really can't explain it properly. do not take her class.

To be honest pick anyone else but her, I would rather learn by myself and watch the videos assigned in class than be in her lecture. She is a terrible teacher who won't let you ask questions.

She don't know what she teach, she don't explain well, she don't answer questions that we ask. For the next students i would never recommend her to be your proof because it was really difficult to understand on how she teach and most in our class we're complaining about her.

She's mean. She keeps comparing us from the other class. She can't explain or answer the things that we're confused about. I have taught myself more than learning from her. Please don't her as your instructor if you want to learn more.

Shes rude, she doesn't care about her students, she makes you feel bad when you ask a question, she can't explain properly, she doesn't prepare you for anything, shes not considerate, she can do the material but can't teach. honestly don't know how she got a teaching job, i would never recommend her to anyone, drop the class or switch if you can.

Consistently, rude to her students. Students in the class would rather teach themselves, than attend. She doesn't teach in a way that her students would understand, instead she criticizes students, and makes threats that would affect the quality of our education. Do yourself the favour and not waste your tuition money by taking her class.

Awful prof. If you get Shanty I would recommend dropping as soon as you can unless you'd rather teach yourself and learn completely independently. She constantly criticizes student who have a question so I'd recommend staying quite in her class.

She talks like she's got a PhD from Harvard with "I'm not your lawyer" or "I'm a math teacher not an excel expert" she doesn't have enough print-outs and says "you can find it on d2l" When a student asked "can we ask questions from the assignments?" She answered "I'm not going to do your assignments" She has her way with encouragement

A question instructs to use the "appropriate graph" and where a bar graph against a set of data would have just been "appropriate" she specifically wants a histogram. I had to argue with her to get the grade but just an overall terrible instructor. No insight to her lectures, just reads off her ppt slides. Very condescending when questions are aske

Just a poopy instructor overall. Her instructions on the assignments are too vague but she wants things done only by her way without elaborating what she's expecting from us. I can't even make the project look nicer and thus make more sense without getting my marks deducted because she refuses to take 5 extra seconds to see what is going on.

This is for a stat class at sait. Worst prof ever

Would arbitrarily mark exams since it was an "easy class", and would only correct her marking if challenged. She insisted on questions but would answer them incorrectly. She gave up halfway through the course and had us watch lectures on our own time instead of teaching. If you see her on your syllabus RUN this class shortened my life by ~5 years.

If I were you, I wouldn't choose this teacher because you will have to study on your own anyway. I once tried to use my own formulas, but she didn't allow me because they weren't what she taught in class.

if you're not a student from India you better pick up punjab just to understand this lady. She couldn't teach a duck how to quack, and is probably the worst instructor I've ever had. You can barely understand her. when you try and ask a question she yells at you and starts talking a bunch of nonsense. "I am math instructor not a doctor" like what??

Shanty is a professor who tends to be close-minded and often does not entertain student inquiries, sometimes expressing frustration when questions arise. If she's not there to teach, what is she there for?

Hard to understand, had to teach myself everything. Intimidating and hard to approach as she can belittle you infront of the class.

She didn't even provide all the formulas and if you don't use her way she marks you wrong. She is not a very good teacher at all and if you can avoid taking her class I would do so.

Not a good professor, does not care about her students, and has one of the heaviest accents i've ever heard. She couldnt teach a 4th grade math class let alone a college course, if you have her as a professor be ready to do everything on your own time.
