Very hard class and the professor didnt make it any easier. I am not a computer programming major, but had to take this class. Professor assumes we are all masters at programming, so she breezes through concepts. She does all the easy examples in class, but gives super hard problems for homework. Hard to see her notes in class cause of small font.

This professor is terrible. Nobody ever knows how to do the homework she gives and its 45% of your grade. Her and the TAs do not explain how to do the homework and do no similar examples in class. She makes it seem like the concepts are easy, but they are actually super hard if you've never taken a computer class before. I would avoid taking her.

She's a decent professor. She responds to emails very quickly and is willing to help you if you seek it. Lecture is fairly boring, she often either gets off topic or goes into a useless amount of detail discussing the theory of ideas and puts everyone to sleep or confuses us more. HW projects are way harder than in class examples. The TA's suck too

Lectures are super long & boring, and I actually enjoy programming. She breezes through the code she writes in class without explaining what she's doing, assumes everyone understands, & gives homework that is way harder than the lessons. She goes off on tangents a lot & goes into too much detail on unimportant things, making lectures more confusing

I was extremely interested in programming and excited to learn going into this class but I ended up skipping most of the lectures since they felt like such a massive waste of time. Professor Jayaraman seems intimidating in class, but she's an excellent professor who treats her students fairly. She's tough on her students and assigns a lot of work in order to help her students grow as programmers. Attending her lectures is a MUST. Sharanya is not as scary as people claim, but you need to work very hard. If you want an easy A, choose another professor. She teaches well but is strict and detail-oriented. Grades rely heavily on 3 milestone exams based on lectures. Lots of practice, long coding assignments, short quiz every class, but generous extra credit if you work hard

Very hard professor for an introduction course. The averages on all of her exams were around the 65% mark and she doesn't curve anything. There are four homework assignments that take hours, 3 exams worth 66% of your total grade which she grades extremely harshly. Don't take her unless you have prior experience or no other option.

She's not as bad as people say. Yes she's a tough grader, but she gave extra credit/free points on 3/4 hw assignments and all 3 tests. Just read the textbook and pay attention in class and you'll easily pass. My only gripe is that she's super late to grade everything. Probably 80% of the class was ungraded until finals, which is ridiculous
