She gives to much information to study.Doesn't provide review sheets and vagely goes over the material before the test she want to know everything. I managed a B but i was studying for almost 2 weeks prior to each test.
She makes class as painless as possible. Lecture slides (available on-line) are clear, and exams are based only on what she covers. Extra-credit assignments are given. Recommended.
She's the best...love her.
Good, straightforward teaching. No surprises but you need to do the work.
While she narrows down the material to study for the exams- the minute details involved with the topics are covered in the book & r used in the exams. The slides are only good if u understand the material, lab is easy w her. I did not find her uncooperative but I would rather get back my exams than just to find out the grade, she holds on to them.
HORRIBLEEE her tests are impossible to get an A on! She explains the material and then completely changes the questions on the test. couldnt believe it. SAVE YOURSELF FROM HER!
she is extremely HARD. very strict and doesnt explain the material clear. I complained about her teaching after I received a 55 on one of the exams. Her exams have nothing to do with her lecture.. I ended up dropping her class. TAKE HER AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Took her for Micro and it was the worst experience ever. Her tests are extremely hard and she can not teach at all. she yells at students when they arent paying attention. I studied day n night for her exams and I still got a 65 on her tests. She ruined my nursing aspirations, i hate her.
I took Walcott for micro 230 this semester and it was the worst decision i have ever made. She isn't fair to her students. You have to do a 5 page essay at the end of every week and her exams are VERY hard.
I studied every single day for her exam and got a D. She doesnt prepare you for the exam and her tests are impossible to score well on. Her slides help a little but overrall she is awful.
worst professor ive ever had!!CANNOT TEACH N HER TEST ARE AWFUL!! AVOID AT ALL COST
worst professor ive ever had!!CANNOT TEACH N HER TEST ARE AWFUL!!
You could study all you want in that class and you would still have problems passing. She doesn't seem to care at all about teaching.
I thought she was a good professor. She needs to work a bit on her slides since there were a lot of mistakes on them. She was always very helpful and available when you have questions. Her tests seem to focus on minute details though.
If you attend her lectures and study her powerpoints there is no way you will fail this class...she tests only on what she covers in class
She is the BEST! Great teaching style.
Teacher's slide are excellent...I studied them carefully and did well in the course.
She jumps around a lot from one thing to another and gets easily lost in her own material. Moves very quickly through the material and does not do any type of review for exams. Prepare to self teach if you take her. And her online homework/quizzes are a mess and their are a lot of errors on it. Avoid if you can.
THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL FAIL HER CLASS IS IF YOU ARE LAZY...HER TEXT ARE EXTREAMLY CLEAR, JUST LIKE HER LECTURES...IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE IN MICRO TAKE HER...SHE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT WHICH IS AMAZING
If you study and make your own notes from the book, there is no way you can fail. She also gives extra credit. However, as a professor, I've never met someone so unorganized and unresponsive to e-Mails. Despite my good grade, I would never take her again.
She is wonderful! Study her slides and you will do fine.
Rarely showed up to class because all you need is your textbook and her powerpoint slides. Study everyday and you will get an A. One thing about her is her lack of organization, LATE with returning grades and how she puts things on the powerpoints that aren't even in the book! Her tests are all multiple choice and she gives a LOT of homework online
It is a lot of material and she seems like a new professor so she is more invested in quantity covered versus the quality of her presentation or creative ways to present it. All she does is read slides which are pretty much what you are going to see in her exams. She is somewhat disorganized.
Always willing to help when students are unclear of the information that is being taught. Is very professional and corteous. Is really clear and thorough when teaching.
i dont like her because she doesnt give me that professor feel. When she teaches i feel like im learning from another student and i dont feel comfortable. also the class doesnt feel put together. test are hard.
This is a professor that really doesn't care if her students understand the material. She doesn't respond to emails often and almost half of the semester she didn't have office hours. Her lecture slides are often unclear and you have to read the textbook to understand the material presented in her slides. She takes forever to post grades.
Make sure to study her PPT slides & review sheets for the exams. Review sheets have new material so it's not technically just a review, just a sneaky way of adding more material to have to know for the test. I read the book for the final exam which was not helpful. Know microorganism names, structures, symptoms, and antibiotics used for the final.
Best professor ever. Tests are straight forward and so clear. Do yourself a favor and take this amazing, knowledgable, kind, compassionate professor, you are guaranteed an A.
her exams are hard and her slides are totally unclear! The worst part is that she only teaches lecture and no one else teaches lecture! she's disorganized too!
i took her last year and honestly i will never take an unorganized professor again! all of her homework, slides, and study guides are useless and misguided!
she is the worst professor on campus! she doesn't teach well and she's disorganized! I didn't learn a thing last semester!
She doesn't know how to teach! so disorganized!
very disorganized! all of her slides, homework, and the book are not helpful at all...
she doesn't know how to be organized, her lectures are hard to understand, and her exams are hard!
very disorganized about her work! I lose focus and don't know what to study for because she misguides me every time!
very disorganized in everything! i will never take her again!
her teaching skills are disorganized! every time she makes a study guide for upcoming exams, she changes everything! I WILL NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN!
she needs to learn how to organize her teachings! so lost here!
This professor is by far the worst, heartless and disorganized. Her exams are beyond difficult. would never recommend her even to my worst enemy, thats how bad she is. Tried talking to her to see if she can have some heart about the bad grades but there is no way of getting to her at all. Yeah she gives extra credit but it BARELY helps .
She is so unorganized. She uploads power points to study for exams. The PP have blanks and you must go to class to fill them. Needless to say, she flies through slides in class and I can barely fill things in. She's unorganized and does everything last minute. Uploads extra credit assignments 2 hours before they are due.. wouldn't recommend.
she is a good professor. Her homework helps a lot and it covers her exams
her lectures are clear, her assignments are helpful, she's a great professor!
I wish I can take her again, she's very understanding and respectful
she is awesome! best microbiology professor ever!
Here is the blunt honest truth. The material is straight forward, but the course is REALLY disorganized. This may really hinder some people that rely only on glancing at power points & not read the book. The book fills in blanks I think. Good study habits are a must: use flash cards, do not procrastinate, and read ahead of class.
This course has a lot of information. Professor Walcott makes it easy by giving a lot of extra credit. She is the best Bio professor I have had. just read power point before class, she tells you what pages to read from the textbook. I don't have the book and I still pass. She gives a study guide, no other professor does this. Take her sure A.
I was very nervous about this class, at first i was not doing my best, but Professor Walcott was very understanding and generous... She gives the students the opportunity to improve as long as you communicate and show that you care... As any other biology class it is an intensive course and you have to do your part and the reading. Great professor!
Not many biology professors provide students with a study guide, This professor did an amazing job, very clear and understanding.. I was able to do good on her exams because of them would definitely take again. Study a lot her slides & the study guides. Thats a guaranteed A!! Her slides are very helpful.
Professor Shari Walcott is great in her teachings. She explains well on the lecture slides, although sometimes she goes too fast. This is because the material of this course is heavy. She gives extra credit and to get an A, for sure you need to study a lot!! She gives reviews on all three exam which helps a lot. The lowest exam will be dropped.
She is the worst 85 questions on an exam and the material is the heaviest i ever seen for an intro level class and the slides are not informative at all. just a couple of pictures and 1 or 2 sentences and filling out blanks is the worst
If you want to get your bachelors in nursing please dont. this class will hinder your grade because this class set up is horrible and so is the professor. I never write a review. Dont take her
Exams tend to be a burden with 85 questions with some added material that she doesn't cover in class.
She's a professor. 3 exams & final is mandatory but lowest exam grade is dropped (85 questions tho). She gives extra credit. The extra credit will help your grade if you initially put in the work. Make sure you read the book, take good notes & STUDY! her slides and review are okay but dont rely too much on them.
the best class i have ever take. she is a a gem. my first exam score was 65, then the second was 88 and the finals was 92 and i received an A in her class. i wanted to drop the class when i flunk my first exam but she encourage me to work harder which i did and i received the grade i wanted. she is lenient even though her test are very hard.
i researched the best teacher and i found professor walcott i feel like it was meant for me to get her class and i was beyond please with how she taught us she worked with us she is pleasant very professional yet personable gave homework and extra she gaves us all the tools needed to pass it was a hard class but i passed n take her she is great
She's not a bad professor. It's clear she wants her students to pass. However, she does go pretty quickly through the slides during lecture and those ninety-question exams are no joke! Be ready to do lots of reading/ studying if you want to pass this class. Avoid missing class as much as possible, and reach out to her if you need help. She cares!
Took the 5 week summer course. It's clear that she cares about her students passing. The material is hard, but as long as you follow along in class you should be fine. She gives a lot of extra credit which definitely helps you out. The exams were pretty difficult.
Terrible class. Professor SPEEDS through the lectures, exams are overwhelming as they're 90 questions, & her study guides aren't even very helpful. Extra credit barely helps your grade & she didn't curve the final which was based on NINE ch's. Don't get me wrong, yes it's a hard course so you obv. have to study A LOT but this class is excessive!
Get all the points you can for homework and study her slides and you will be fine. It's just so much material covered but do-able.
Microbiology is not an easy course and you will have to put a lot of time and effort into studying the material if you want a very good grade, involves reading the textbook, studying the slides, and doing all the homework assignments. Extra credit assignments after each exam will help to boost your grade so make sure to do them.
Microbiology: Intense , complicated subject; lots of reading & homework; Ms Shari Walcott type of the Professor who wants you to succeed; always gives a chance to get bonus points for extra questions or home work. Honest grades for honest work.
she was all over the place with lectures I wouldn't recommend her take micro outside of lehman.
She does not teach! Rushes through slides. Her exams are very difficult filled with very touch questions that she may have pulled out of the blue. However, she gives lots of extra credit, so if you want an A, you have to study religiously - a lot!
The subj is not too hard but she makes it very difficult to achieve a good grade. She rushes though chaps & exams are 90 questions covering 6-8 chapters. She drops your final grade by 1 letter grade if you have more than 2 absences (1 excused/1 unexcused) and she has the worst attendance method- most students are marked absent when they are present
It is not an easy class. There is a lot of content and you really have to make the time to study if you want a good grade. I do not think Professor Walcott is a bad professor. She actually gives lots of extra credit and material review for the exams. My advice is study the slides and don't miss class. I only used the book for the 3 first chapters
She's decent. At least she gives students extra credit and study guides (which do help). Make sure to study at least two weeks before tests and do well on the lab portion to get a high grade. I don't suggest this class if you're taking other rigorous. Try to take this by itself. You don't need the textbook. A lot of people never used it.
Shari Walcott is extremely intelligent, she knows what she is talking about but is terrible at breaking it down for you so you can understand. She DOES NOT know how to teach. You have to spend hours reviewing and studying. You must go to class because she leaves blank spaces on the slides which you must fill in when your in class.
Professor Walcott is an amazing educator. Like any generic college course, you must be willing to put in the work on your own time as well as attend every class session. She works with you and is always willing to clarify the topics that you may not understand. The practice questions are extremely helpful as it allows you to revise during class.
Prof. Walcott is the type of professor who reads everything off her slides... She explains things very minimal. Her class is disorganized because she crams so much information for her three exams, that it's almost impossible to do. We are not machines to just memorize things. That is not learning. She drops one exam score. By far one of the hardest
Whenever you have 1 professor teaching a subject don't even think twice about running in the opposite direction. PLEASE take Micro in another school. This professor is disorganized, changes questions in the middle of your exam, very inaccessible. There are students who have passed this class but not with her help. Worst ever does not care about you
Stay away from her. very disorganized, always late plus you can only see your grade by appointment after more than a month that you took it.
Honestly I think she's the dumbest professor I've ever had. Didn't know how to perform basic lab techniques and treated students as if we were in grade school. She is super disorganized.. didn't receive grades till the end of the semester where it was too late to improve or ask questions. Not really sure how she was hired.
Highly disorganized and late to almost every lecture! 90-100 questions on the exams. Lots of homework and attendance is mandatory. She is a nice person but there are many more negatives with her personality and teaching methods, the only positive is that there are extra credit questions for every exam which you will definitely need.. Good luck!!!
Hardest class Ive ever taken, but somehow got through it . Try to get an A in lab, which will help your grade. Tests are brutal and long, and come from fill in the blank sides that you have to be in class to get. Its pointless. However, she works really hard to prepare us for the tests. You have to study 24/7 to do well in this class.
The 350 characters limit here won't do it justice to explain just how bad this prof is so I'll give you bullet points 1. Errors on exam questions(TWO TIMES) 2. 2nd exam delayed because she printed out the wrong thing(no extra time) 3. ERRORS ON HER OWN STUDY GUIDES LOL(both on the final and 2nd one) 4. You'll prob study for the wrong thing AVOID
WORST PROFESSOR IN LEHMAN COLLEGE! NEVER MET ANYONE SO DISORGANIZED IN MY LIFE. TEST ARE CRAZY. SHES NEVER CLEAR ABOUT WHATS GOING TO BE ON THE TESTS. SHOWS UP LATE TO EXAMS. NEVER REPLIES TO EMAILS. HONESTLY TERRIBLE. NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU STUDY IT NEVER SEEMS TO BE ENOUGH. AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!
Professor was a tough grader but fair. If you put in the time you can pass. She was willing to help students learn and grow to their best potential.
Get ready to WORK hard for a B, if you want an A you basically have to dedicate your whole semester to just passing this class.
Good professor overall! Lots of material. interesting topics. Provided videos on some material. Prof. Walcott makes you work for your grade. She encouraged me and provided many opportunities to do better.
This professor needs to be fired. She is the only one at Lehman that teaches Microbiology, and it is honestly the most painful class ever. I love biology and I am a good student, but she does not provide the tools you need to do well. Mono-tone, and doesn't explain things. DO NOT TAKE.
Shari means well. She is a bit disorganized but that's because she has A LOT on her plate. Her class is really difficult. You have to memorize every single thing that is on the all slides. Her exams make you think and are exhausting. MAKE SURE YOU DO WELL ON THE FIRST ONE, IT IS THE EASIEST. This class is not meant to be easy, take it seriously
I was going through a tough personal situation. Shari was very encouraging. So, the beginning of the course was difficult for me. But, I improved over time. Lots of material was covered, I learned so much. The homework questions and videos were helped. You definite have to put time and effort in to do well. No easy A's here!
This class is self-taught AND it is heavy content. She is extremely disorganized but provides material to review for exams and gives extra credit opportunity. You definitely have to put it in the work to get an A. Don't take lightly. First exam is the easiest, so try to ace that. Final is brutal, so study at least a week in advance.
This is definitely not the hardest class I've ever taken. Professor Walcott simply makes you work for your grade. You NEED to study and start memorizing well before the exams to do well. Everything is strict memorization and there is lots of it. Make sure to do the homework and do well in lab, it will help alot in the end.
This is my first time writing a review for a professor. I've taken many classes and even harder ones than microbiology, but Shari makes this class more difficult than it actually is. AVOID her if you care about your GPA. Most students actually fail or end up with a C. Her exams are long and brutal, and require you to remember every small detail.
Spends 5 minutes scolding you for asking a question ("you should know this already") rather than giving a quick review. Very unorganized. Posts powerpoints on blackboard with fill-in-the-blanks (& sometimes mistakes) which she never updates meaning you cannot use it to review. Makes an already demanding subject more difficult than it has to be.
This professor, is one of the worst professor at Lehman College. I dont usually do rating, but honestly avoid her if you can take this class from another school is better. She make this class so hard, her exam is brutal 90 questions completely different with the lecture slides. You need to dedicate full time studying to pass this class with an A.
This course is the course I needed to let me know how hard nursing is and how important it is to know what you are talking about with patients. Micro is all about understanding and an ability to almost "perform what you know". I'm not doing too well, I had straight A's before this, but Shari really shows you what autonomous learning is. Great!
She means well but assumes she knows your life. I had to take this coarse alone with no other classes and very minimal work- life balance. Her lectures are basically a skeleton of what you need to know, it is your job to self teach using the book and the power points and you-tube to learn the rest, she only gives you 90 min for 90 question exams.
I have to retake this class and I am definitely choosing another professor. My GPA dropped and I did excellent in the lab class, but her lectures are not helpful. Her lectures do not cover the exams. If you are taking this course. GOODLUCK!
The course seemed intimidation, but the professor made it easy to understand. Be ready to study, and if you study thoroughly, you will do well in class. Dont miss a class or you will be lost!
Worst professor at Lehman. Lady is so sarcastic it's like you can't even ask her a question as she'll give you a sarcastic answer as if you are in her head and know what she's thinking. Very selfish, could careless about her students doing well. If you open the dictionary and look up the word "Disorganized" you'll see her photo. It's that bad!!!!!!
Worst professor in the entire Biology department. Shari 1000% makes this class more difficult than is it. Made no effort to accommodate students during a pandemic. 1 hour on a test with 85 QUESTIONS, which take forever to read. Pulls question out of the sky. She does not care and her teaching skills are poor. PLEASE take Micro at another school.
60% on exams is considered the average score. Do not recommend this professor if you do not have a good grasp on simple simple terms and some very light chemistry or if your are taking other high demand courses. Moves fast through lecture and you are practically on your own. She is brilliant but not very helpful.
If you want headaches and the desire to rip your hair out, take Prof. Walcott. Micro is a bit harder than A&P but she without a doubt makes this class insanely harder than it needs to be. There is so much information she expects you to know there is no way you can actual learn and retain any information. 60% is the exam average. UNHELPFUL AVOID
Do yourself a favor and take Micro outside of Lehman. I promise you wont regret it. She is the only one who teaches it and is by far the hardest professor/class I've ever taken. She must think we're PHD students. She goes on and on about how this is a 200 level course but at the end of the day it's still INTRO to Microbiology.
Worst professor I've had at Lehman. She expects soooo much out of you like memorizing 50+ diseases and 30+ microbes. She'll pull random stunts on you like making a test 90 questions instead of the promised 80! This class didn't need to be this hard. I wish I would've done an e permit. Pre-nursing students, you've been warned.
If you are pursuing a nursing degree, stay far away from Shari. Please do yourself the favor and e-permit this class at another CUNY or a private school. There is no reason for the class to be so hard. Nothing like the A&P professors who actually care and want you to pass.
This class is hard and the professor did not make it any easier. Walcott is a good person but her way of teaching is not too great. She expects us to learn things on our own, and even asking a question seems like a bother to her. I will be retaking this class because it is interesting and I want to retain the information.
Let me stop you from scrolling down any further! DO NOT take this class. Do not think of challenging yourself by taking this class. Disorganized, Extremely hard tests. Unless this is the only class you have, and no work/life ... Even then, do not take this class. Warning you now lol. But if you don't care about your Gpa, disregard this.
Professor is smart. The course was challenging for a summer course. Make sure you tackle the lecture slides. Know basic chemistry and biology. She gives extra credit. Loved the Lab class professors. It's a tough course, and since it is the only one available, you have to give it your all. DO NOT SLACK!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. SHE IS THE WORST HUMAN BEING CREATED (A COMPLETE DOO DOO) She is so rude and disrespectful to students asking simple questions. She never responds to emails (I emailed 5 times).
Extremely unreasonable, unorganized, unhelpful, and lazy. Expect to go over lectures yourself as she only does iclicker in class. Many errors on her quizzes so go over them. Only good thing is she offers extra credit. Not enough time for exams. 3 exams, pearson HW, quizzes and 2 practicals for lab portion. Be ready to study hard!
The worst professor that I have ever had , so inconsiderate and truly does not care about her students , I genuinely do not know how this person still has a job, she does not teach yet expects us to know everything , her exams are extremely difficult and when voicing your opinion she cuts you off , no sympathy what so ever
The worst class I've ever taken. I should have listened to the reviews & taken micro somewhere else. Trust me the reviews are 100% accurate. She is unsympathetic, disrespectful, unorganized, inconsiderate. She curved the test ALOT so she won't look bad. I know you need to take this if your majoring in nursing but trust me this class is horrifying.
she enjoys using iclicker so much , it is so annoying . the exams are HARD . like the questions are ridiculously nonsense. no matter how hard you study the questions are something different. nonetheless she gives alot of extra credit and the homework on pearson is easy to do!
She is one of the worst professors I have ever taken in my life. I took this class a few semesters ago and still remember how painful it was to have her as a professor. She would put 100 questions on each exam and we only had an hour and 45minutes to complete it which to me was extremely unreasonable. My advice is to avoid taking her at all cost.
i took her online not long ago i had to drop and get an E permit to take this class in another school. she just put everything on blackboard and as you to do the learning yourself, when we go to class, she just asks or put questions up we answer and if we do not get it right she will explain and that is it for the whole class she just do not teach
where to start? lack of ethics and integrity as a professor goes beyond imagination. she will not let you see your exams after you complete them, you won't be able to know where you made a mistake? if you choose this professor she will schedule homework for days.
the worst professor ever. spends all of class doing iclicker questions, takes 30-45 minutes to even get class started due to "connection issues" every week, gives 5 minute extra credit assignments that take more than 5 minutes to do, adds the extra credit points to the total score of the exam making them useless and even lowering your grade, BEWARE
this is the worst professor ever. I don't know how she's allow to teach honestly. she is disorganized, rude and unprofessional. if you want any chance at a career in nursing don't take this professor. she just wants to ruin careers doesn't teach at all. she so lazy she decided to say a group chat is cheating so she doesn't gave to grade the class.
Plain awful! The fact that she is a microbiology professor and only professor at Lehman blows my mind. How people like her actually get to that level??? Do yourself a favor and take this class somewhere else. You won't learn a single thing! It will be a waste of money and time and mental health.
Say a long prayer before you take this prof! I wish i had alot of space to say much, but she lacks communication, doesn't lecture the course she spends the whole 2-3 hrs of class doing stupid iclicker questions. Her exams is timed and has long case studies. She failed alot of students without any warning in advance. She is very disorganized too
Poor, unprofessional communication with students isn't harsh enough to describe the extent to which she was difficult to deal with. Her lectures were threadbare and barely covered any of the necessary information for exams; much of my time studying was independent. The material is fine, but the teacher? Not worth anyone's time.
Unfortunately a very disorganized professor. This course has a tough reputation and I would not recommend this professor. The lectures are barely a lecture because it is mainly iClicker questions that are nowhere near as difficult as the HW/exam questions. I had to teach myself basically this entire course and it did not go well.
First of all, she Doesn't teach, you teach yourself She quizzes students on Iclicker REF during class Her volume of homework is high and difficult with a lot of case studies Her exams are super long and case studies as well she has connectivity issues every class and doesn't upload material properly to BB SLOPPY AND CARELESS NOT RECOMMEND HER
Be aware before taking this class! If you are a nursing student, you are mandatory to take this class. Ensure this is the only class you take if you want to pass the course with excellent grades. I chose to take this class alone. Trust me, this class is time-consuming.
My experience was very bad with this professor. She always ask questions in iclicker which I found irrelevant. Most of the time she doesn't reply to student's emails. I found the exact question she gave during the test on different mock test websites.
she was okay with everyone failing her class and even said it was expected. talk about low standards
She is a good professor but her tests are hard since she gives a small amount of time and she is a little unorganized but nothing too crazy. She likes to talk a lot about irrelevant things but her class is not too bad.
She is VERY unorganized. Her exams are very hard, with not enough time. You won't find anything online to help nor will her recorded lectures help and this is coming from someone who studies and works hard. She uses the class as a therapy session. She talks A LOT. Her iclicker questions are hard and she gives you 10 seconds at most to answer them.
Don't do it to yourself or your mental health. Doesn't grade anything and no help either
Like another student said she uses lecture time as a therapy session, she preached about time management for 20 mins before starting the actual lecture, which is disorganized. You're given less than 30 sec to read and answer iClicker questions. Tests: 100 questions, 110 min. Students should not have to rely on extra credit to pass exams.
Very unorganized, very hard exams with not enough time (120 questions, 100 mins), a lot of Pearson homework. Understanding but not accessible by email. She is a mess and will take 40 minutes of the class complaining and trying to get her mic to work..... She's not horrible as the others are worse. you can pass but beware of those exams.
Professor Walcott personality-wise is okay! BUT as a professor, this class is all over the place. Lecture videos are disorganized, the homework is very long and the tests are very long in little time. She does offer extra credit, but overall, I am teaching MYSELF the material. If you plan on taking this course, let it be the only science you take!
Worst Professor! She doesn't teach you teach yourself and she reviews! Exams are 100 questions with a hour to do!!!!! Brace yourself
2 exams (10% each), final (15% non-cum), clicker (15%), lab (30%), HW (20%). Exams are not fair: 100 questions in 1 hr -- most students don't finish. Her exams are more condensed than her lectures, clicker questions irrelevant to exam. if you miss >1 lecture, grade drop by half letter. she thinks this is grad school, what a joke
Worst professor! Dont do this to yourself! Run away, seriously! Shes the absolute worst. Doesnt teach. She makes up iclicker questions in the beginning of class. She adds additional subscriptions that you will need to buy. Worst professor I ever had!!! Believe me and dont take her!
The worst!
Terrible professor Does not teach; she only does iClicker questions. Rude and never replies to her emails. Terrible, stay far away!!!
the class is difficult since there is a lot of material, but she is very clear about expectations and explanations. Participation is very important!
Seriously, Shari Walcott should not be teaching AT ALL. First, she does not teach but waste time doing iClicker. If you care about your mental insanity, run away. She expects you to learn a lot of bacteria in so little time. THE WORST PROFESSOR THAT I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. LAZY!
all i got to say is: 10 chapters for the final...... a month away.
She was the last professor available to take this course. So I asked myself how bad can she be! unfortunately i didn't listen to other reviews. Honestly horrible. Shes all over the place, her lectures aren't even lectures their just a bunch of iclicker questions which aren't helpful for exam. Gives exams with so many questions and little time.
Tests given are not enough time, no lecture just iclicker questions, does not answer emails, does not care about students, assigns multiple chapters per week, 80+ homework questions due twice a week, extremely unorganized in class, does not let the students speak their concerns. Do not take this class, epermit somewhere else, DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!
its practically asynchronous. you teach yourself then during class time she does iclickers to review what youve taught yourself
This class was extremely difficult. I am very outgoing but had temporary depression/anxiety studying for the exams. Make sure to get all points possible, especially from lab, iClicker and homework. I got an A but probably hardest A I worked for!
YEA DON'T TAKE HER EVER AGAIN . SHE SHOULD BE FIRED HELL OUT OF LEHMAN
This is one of the most challenging classes I took during online learning due to Covid-19. She does give extra credits to boost your test scores. DO NOT MISS A SINGLE SESSION, or you'll be lost. Do go to office hours and show up when she reviews exam materials. My study guide was her PPT lectures and slides.
If you are in the nursing path, please bear in mind that this may be the hardest prerequisite you might take. It requires learning bacterias, antibiotics, and it is just rote memorization. Dedicate a lot of time. If an exam doesn't go well do not feel bad-the professor provides extra credit. Just try your best!
Micro is a very difficult class, but it's not impossible to do well. Her slides are very informative and detailed, so be sure to reread or take notes. She hosts special out of class time review sessions a few days before each exam that really help. Put in the effort, attend lab, do all extra credits, and never miss an iClicker and you will do well
First and foremost this class is very heavy content, and because of this, the course is very challenging. The professor lacks responsibility with the course which makes you feel self-taught throughout the course. The professor gives extra credit which helps with improving your score. Take advantage of the SI tutoring. Overall, hard course.
I took this class along with organic chemistry, and I cannot lie, it was hard. However, if you devote enough time to studying, you can do well. This class is only an hour and 40 minutes once a week, so Shari does not have the time to actually lecture, that's why she just does iclicker. It is stressful, but try your best, and you will do well.
she's all over the place and doesn't lecture well. worst micro professor ever.
