Homework was easy, in fact he would tell the class the anwers sometimes. Tests easy except a few questions tough. CM 1000 not tough for a 2 credit hour class.
Pretty easy. Go to class and it will be fine.
Pretty easy professor. Has a very laid back style. Tests and homework are a breeze and he is always willing to help answer questions. May come across as unprepared for class but knows what he is talking about. If you go to class half the time and do your work expect to get an A.
Excellent
Knew what he was saying. Can't teach it.
In answer to the last question, Prof. Makarechi always dressed and carried himself in a professional manner.
His classes are the easiest CM classes. Its a joke. You will learn nothing. Highly recommended though
He is a genuinely nice man. Goals and objectives defined and met would of better prepared me to take the Codes and Loads class - I am undertaught and this class this summer is very frustrating.
great teacher. very knowledgeable about the material
Easy teacher, but I also think that is partly based on the classes. He is helpful and is always willing to listen. Highly recommend.
Very easy prof. grading is very liberal and you don't have to attend class to be in the loop
Tests were not very difficult but the questions were not always clear as to what he wanted.
interesting
One of my favorite Professors.
Nice guy. Easy Class. I don't think it was necessary for me to take. Kind of a waste of my time.
Test questions were not always very clear.
very nice guy and willing to help, the class i took was very easy though.
CM 1000 could have been a lot better...
Prof. Yar is a wonderful man. His teachings are among the best of all Proffessors l have ever taken class with.
Some students did not do their homework but rather waited for the professor to explain in class how it had to be done. they than wrote the answers on a sheet of paper, turned it in and received an A for it. I had difficulties with the online tests. Overall it was a good topic. Sadly the professor let those cheating students get away with it.
Very fun environment. Is fair with students as long as you do your part.
He is very passionate about the subject he teaches. Is available to students for extra help.
Good Professor, fun class
Class attendance was optional when I took this class!
Professor "Yar" was very interesting in lectures but his test questions were confusing and vague.
Great Professor, enjoyed the class!
He's a cool professor
Dr. Yar provides detailed presentations and hands-on experience for the various subject areas in Construction.
Hes fairly easy but damn good at breaking structures down and helping out. Hes usually quickly available to help with any questions, and most of the tests are take home anyway...
CM 1000 could have been a much better course if it was run better. More industry could have been brought in and a thorough examination of the CM curriculum could have been discussed, as opposed to the dated, monotonous videos.
Very helpful and fun professor. I always tried to take Professor Yar when the same class was being offered by different professors.
Professor Yar is very concerned for his students and helpful, often taking extra time to make sure you understand the material.
Great Professor. CM1000 was really fun and educational.
The class is easy as long as you show up.
I feel that this professor really knows his stuff, but he doesn't have a passion for teaching. Therefore, he doesn't make sure that his students know the information or help the student understand the textbook. You will be on your own 70% of the time. Look to other teachers and students for help.
Comments:
Professor Yar, Very helpful in all of his classes
Hes a good person and a great teacher.
very helpful attentive
Great instructor! Anyone on the fence about their major/career goals or uncertain about the real-world applications will truly benefit and learn with a more informed understanding of what to expect from this instructor.
Excellent teacher
the class was alright
This guy is super easy, he takes attendance, but its super easy to get someone else to sign you in.
I loved this class. Dr. Yar helped explain the industry tremendously. He has such vast knowledge about the construction industry and he is passionate about it. He kept me intrigued.
He is very intelligent, approachable, and helpful professor that seems to have a life outside of the classroom which is a plus.
Very helpful and patient with students when trying to achieve class objectives.
class sucked. although it was easy it was useless. I dont hold makarehi responsible for the wast of time as i do the department. Class was a wast of time! and I value my time.
My class with the Prof. Makarechi was the first I took within my program scope and it was just the class and teacher I needed getting me back into school classes with a pleasant and informative teacher. Also got me into the NECA Student Chapter and helping the university through that program.
Building Codes was worthless, boring and an easy A. BTM 3 was another easy A, learned a little. Process Simulation is supposed to prepare you for your Capstone and teach you what to do. This class with Yar was far from it, yet another A. I learned nothing making Capstone harder and hectic. Overall easy teacher but you learn nothing.
Great professor. He knows his material and works with students. Very generous with grading and submission of late work. I would suggest taking this professor.
Didn't learn much...very hard to retrieve information about what was taught. Good guy though..he at least listens to what students say. Just needs to be more prepared.
Pretty easy, just show up to class. very understanding teacher.
Good teacher, class very easy
Building Codes and BTM III
Professor seems to have a poor command of the subject knowledge - like he's only a step ahead of the class (and sometimes not even that much).
Dr. Yar is a great professor. He is very easy going and laid back. I enjoyed the CM intro class.
Avoid if at all possible. Professor Makarechi should not be allowed to teach at the college level. I was honestly amazed with some of the stuff that came out of his mouth during class. I took classes with him twice and both were a complete waste of my time. Take him if you want an easy grade, but do not want to learn anything useful.
organized. helpful. enthusiastic.
ENR magazize subscription was the required "text." It was also supplied in class so you never really had to pay for a subscription but it's good to have if you are going to continue in the Construction Management field.
Good teacher
Prof. Makarechi excels when teaching about piping and plumbing. He is personable and helpful to his students while also being demanding for a high level of understanding and achievement
Just go to class and listen and you'll be fine. Tests arent bad but sme questions seem to come from other information not covered in the section. Overall, I plan on taking him again
Excellent Teacher and is very helpful when needing extra help.
Pretty good teacher
He is a great teacher, not hard to follow. The class is straight forward and if you miss a class its not hard to catch up. PPT and textbook is the course and the test. Truely.
He is a nice person, but his class is a waste of time. He cancelled class all the time and for the last half of the semester he cancelled class for good.
Extremly powerful presentation provided by Prof. Macharechi gave me new horizont of what actually happened in Tall Construction around the world. I realy was blessed for being student on this class.
this professor is very easy to follow. The lectures are from text and ppt and the test is exactly the same.
This professor is very easy to follow, EASY. The lectures are from text and ppt and the test is exactly the same.
yar was completely unprepared for class about 90% of the time. he spouted off a lot of stuff completely unrelated to the subject at hand. i think he does a better job with other courses, but this one was pretty lame.
This professor has many years of practical experience in what he is teaching and that comes through clearly.
Seasonned and very helpful
A Great Teacher
Dr. Yar made class interesting especially the Skyscraper Worldwide Plaza series. I enjoyed his class.
Dr Shariar Makarechi is probably the only class that makes you think. His teaching style rocks and even though you know there alot of research you must do, you at least know you are learning.
The Best
A good man with principles
The class is very intereseting and I like how Dr. Yar draws diagrams to explain various concepts. I think the research homeworks are great, because they make the student research a topic and present to other students in class, which provides public speaking skills and I think the student retains more than just viewing class powerpoints in class.
Strongly Recommended.
Highly Recommended
Great Class. Very helpful in guiding me in the direction of grad.
Not and easy course, but Dr. Yar's experience and skills help A LOT!
A good overview of building M&E systems.
