This fool can't count! I took an online course from him, and he couldn't even count the assignments that he gave out!!! And had an attitude about it! Don't take classes with this person...
this women blows. 3 test and a final. first 3 test i recieved nothing less than 90%. my final grade was c-. went to talk to her and she was gone for 2 weeks. she never returned my calls or emails. take math from a monkey before ahmadi, you will learn more
This is a "she." She explained quite well and drew graphs without calculator VERY well. She encouraged students to do HW on board so you'll confidence. If you attend the class regularly and do HW, you can get an A easily. No monkey required.

she is not clear and she writes alot. my advise if take it her is LEARN VERYTHING SHE TEACHES is tought and not good in explaning the subject you are better off taking with another teacher
I like how she gives out extra points for students who solve problems on the board...but sometimes i dont think she knows what shes talking about...her tests are neither hard nor very easy...if u do ur homework than you have nothing to worry about.
She's very sweet, intelligent and most importantly helpful to students. She tries to be fair to everyone as much as she can by helping them out in perfecting their grades and understanding of the subject.
Shes a good teacher, but not very helpful, seems as if shes just there to do her job, comes teaches and goes, alot of studying is required to pass her class, she's not very lenient about grading either, she'll mark a question wrong because of the slightest error.
It is a SHE not a he, and she is great! I strongly recomend taking her class. To do well you have to do your HW, and also go to the board for extra points. She is a bit picky at times, but that is generally when you already have your 100. And dude you are a foold for taking an online class!
She gives you lots of extra credit points that help with your grade. She was a pretty good teacher, but I felt at times she did not know what she was doing.

AVOID!!! Ridculousy unfair with her summer course. Is rude to students and has insulted some durring class. She will mark a correct answer wrong if she doesnt like the way you did the work to get the answer. and when she explains a problem she seems not know what she is talking about. easy course with a difficult teacher AVIOD!!!
you don't want to waste your money and your time in this class at all. She doesn't teach probably she doesn't know what is she talking about. I don't know why she last this long. STAY AWAYS FROM THIS CLASS BEFORE YOU ARE SORRY FOR YOURSELF
She is not a good teacher, period.
she has a accent no one can understand. she calls her students immature. she doesn't know what she is talking about. she can't teach.
Disregard those comments about her not knowing math - she is very, very proficient and she's smart. Also class is fairly lively and conversational. Watch her solve a problem and learn. Explanations are okay (B not A) , and she is friendly. Read the book and see a mathematician at work in class. Ignore the crybabies - they want a spoonfeeding.
Was an average teacher
She is the most nasty teacher i have come across. The course is easy but she is terrible. Dont count on her for knowing the course. If you happen to be in her class, study on your own and you will do great. I dont know why she is sticking around this long. She is not meant to ne a teacher. Nasty! terrible and mean best describes her.
Ahmadi is the worst math teacher that I have had in my whole life. Class is very easy but she doesnt even know how to explain it and makes it horrible for the students. She is just a real IDIOT.
She may understand the subject she teaches perfectly yet she seems to lack talent in the art of teaching. Students are better off taking course on line rather than comming to class to see her write down the examples from the book on the board.
Fails to make much of anything clear. Frequently late. Goodnatured (maybe) but not a gifted teacher. Very Unorganized.
Professor Ahmadi is arguably the finest University-level mathemetics instructor I have had. She runs a disciplined but fun class and requires students to work hard. Her homework assignments were very well-structured, and midterm questions were from the homework. Her presentations were second to none in terms of clarity and completeness.
She is a terrible teacher. Always late and couple of times absent. I don't understand why she is still at NOVA. It wouldn't surprise me if she wrote that good review herself.
I agree with the person under my comment...shes very hard to understand and she made a lot of mistakes that the students would catch. I think you shouldnt take her, find another teacher!!!!
Ahmadi is the BB's and an idiot proffessor. She is the worst math teacher have ever had. Thank God I dropped the class with her and took it with a different professor. She gave me a D the first time and when i took it the other professor I got an A. Lady you have NO BRAINS. Ahmadi is very unorganized and horrible. She sucks in teaching and unfair.
Professor Ahmadi is a very good teacher. The people who are giving her bad comments are idiots themselves. She was a very helpful teacher and the people who feel otherwise are just complaining because they are too stupid to pass math. You people expect to not come to class and not even be able to do basic addition and get an A. YOU GUYS ARE STUPID!
She was a good teacher. i recommend her to people. she gives homework but she doesnt grade it. its just to help you understand the material better. tests and quizzes are quite easy. just study and come to class everyday and you will get an A
she has a bit of an accent which makes it hard to understand. she is not mean and would help you if you need it. don't be afraid to ask her for help. even those she has an accent, if you do the homework and pay attention to her examples on the board and take notes you should be ok.
She was ALAWYS absent! Had some medical problem I think. Did NOT do a good job explaining.
Get ready to be treated like a 5 year old. She was 15-30 minutes late EVERY DAY, did not explain the material very well (good thing it was so easy), but what really got me, was the completely inappropriate behavior on her behalf. She makes people feel stupid in front of the class and lectures us like a mother would lecture her child. Do not take!!
She is very good teacher. If you want to learn math then she is the teacher you are looking for.she is caring and really fair.
she is the best teacher, ppl who are complaining are just mad because they are horrible at math. This is not professor ahmadi's problem. Maybe if the students worked harder then they would get a better grade.
Professor Ahmadi is a great teacher. Even though I had a hard time in the class, she was extrememly helpful when i asked questions. She would also help me with my questions during her office hours. If you want a great teacher definetly take this class. She is helpful and makes the hard concepts seem easy.

Mrs. Ahmadi is not th best of meth teachers. She doesn't go over homework and gives very short notes. The books is almost no help, and her tests are killers. I wouldn't recommend taking her class unless you are amazing at math and know most of this information already. She doesn't seem to want to help you and takes away points from extra credit!!!!
Prof. Ahmadi is a great teacher. I think the people who write negative comments are just making up excuses for the poor grades in Math. She has the slightest accent, but that by no means kept me from learning and understanding the material. I think she is very experienced in what she does and would take more classes with her if I could. VERY HELPFU
I thought she was really good. She loves all her students and shows up to class no matter what (she was having back problems and had to lay down in class but still came). If you do your homework and come to class, you'll do fine. Tests aren't bad, if you understand the material, it's an easy A. and she's super sweet.
horrible teacher. very unhelpful. if no prior knowledge of material then i would not make it through the class. usually very late to class and changes schedule.
Professor is a nice teacher. Ignore others comments about how unhelp she is because she is not. You will have a great time in her class especially if you are good in Algebra II
She's ok. Wouldn't say great. Very bright, personable. I mean I did well in the class but she is unprepared, and you could get burned because of it. So, no, she's not the best teacher...by far. She cares about students, though.
Clarified all concepts I had trouble with in high school. Really isn't as bad as some of the ratings. A+ in 6-week summer course, so regular semester should be very easy.
Nice, but can be hard to understand
SHE CAN'T TEACH AT ALL, I CORRECTED HER ON THE DAILY BASIS. ON AN AVERAGE SHE CAME 13-14 MINUTES LATE TO CLASS EVERYDAY ALWAYS.
she is a great math teacher.she cares about her students and she is very very intelligent.
this lady is crazy. she doesn't care if you know or understand the material, when it's time to move on to the next chapter she does. If you get lost she's like oh well, read your text. I had to swap out of her class because of her lack of wanting to make sure the students understand what she's teaching. if you have trouble w/ mth this class is a NO
At the begining of the semester she showed no interest in helping us learn the material, but lately she interacts and tries to the best of her ability to help us now.
if you come to class and do the homework you will do fine. the tests are fairly easy, she gives many oportunities for extra credit. I'm looking forward to taking MTH 174 with her if she will be teaching it next semester.
One of the worst math teachers I have ever had. Ahmadi never teaches, she gives one problem off the book then leaves the class for 10 minutes or more to get lunch then comes back and doesn't review. Taking a class with her isn't recommended considering that she doesn't teach and you will need a good teacher for calculus. Be warned do NOT bother.
Unprepared for classes. Doesn't explain material well. Has a tendency to leave during class instead of actually teaching.
She is a great teacher. very intelligent and caring.
Professor Ahmadi is a decent professor. All you have to do is attend lectures and study some on your own and you're guaranteed a good grade in the class.I would recommend taking her for other classes.
Her class is very clear and helpful. We don't need to memorize too much. I really recommend her class. You can know math is not difficult and is so amusing. She is one of my favorite charming professor.
I highly recommend taking all math classes with Professor Ahmadi. You just need to study a little bit on your own and you're guaranteed an A.
TAKE HER. she is a GREAT TEACHER, guarantee an A or B if you study a little
Prof. Ahmadi gives clear and easy to understand lectures and great notes to copy from the board. If you study from the text book and use her notes her class should be easy. She is really nice and helpful and wants every student to succeed. She has a slight accent but I had no difficulty understanding her and I find accents difficult.
Honestly, terrible teacher. Showed up late to class every time, around 13 minutes each time, and didn't have a lesson plan so she would talk bullshh for a half hour. If you do well in math, go for it. But if you're like me, you want a teacher to actually teach you something. Honest to god, she told us one class to learn chapter 4 for ourselves.
Professor Ahmadi is one of the best math teachers i have ever had. Intelligent and kind teacher. If she knows that you are trying, She really helps you to understand the material and get a good grade in the class.
Loved having her in Calc. 1 a course I was very worried about before taking her class she explains things clearly and helps you if you're not doing well. Study, do the hw and you'll go far.
Never on time! Answers her cell phone in the middle of a lesson! but she is more than willing to help you if you need it, extra credit is always given. Not big on attendance, keep on track with the homework and ask questions and you'll be fine.
not the most organized teacher - but she is kind and knows her stuff. moves pretty quickly but is thorough and makes the information easy to understand. i enjoyed her class and learned a lot.
doesnt give extra credit, takes days to respond to emails. Never answers her office phone. Short when talking moves through lessons quickly even if you dont understand.
One of the best Math teachers I have ever had. very intelligent.
Never shows up on time, but teaches well. It's an easy class as long as you do all of the work.
Pay attention in class, be quiet, and do your homework. She'll help you if you sak for it and are a good student. She'll stay on a topic until you grasp the concept. Great teacher.
Nice woman, a little confusing at times but she knows her stuff. Easy A if you take notes and do the hw. SHOW UP TO CLASS. There's hw but it's all due at the end of the semester, but it's easier if you complete it week by week. The HW grade counts as a Test grade. She also drops the lowest test grade. Allows an index card on most of the tests.
Didnt really enjoy her class. She is a very nice teacher but her teaching methods are not great. She expects you to pretty much know the material when you walk through the door. Flies through material very fast and doesnt do a good job teaching what she is writing , more like tells you exactly what she is writing but doesnt explain why
worst calc prof. she never helped you if you needed it and doesn't care about her students. gives a lot of homework and has very hard tests. I used to be very good at math until I took a class with her. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS.
Do not take her if you want want an A or B. WORST TEACHER. Isn't clear about what she teaches and tests are HARD. Gives life lessons more than teaching and homework is online. Only good thing was that the final exam came from questions from previous tests. None of the tests are multiple choice all work it out problems. 4 tests + final exam.
The professor was very hard to understand. She didn't seem to know the material very well. Would give off an attitude about having to help those that struggled. Tests were easy and all the homework was online and there were no late grades. Just do the online work and you should be fine. No recommendation though.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. She is very hard to understand. Most of her lecture time is spent in her life stories. She NEVER responds to emails. She has very limited office hours. I believe that her own understanding on Math concepts are completely flawed and that's why she has hard time in explaining the concepts in class.
This teacher doesn't really have grasp on her subject and that's why she flies during her lecture and doesn't really explain the concepts. She is very hard to understand. Most of lecture time is spent in telling stories. She is NOT accessible outside the class. She has memorized most of her lecture and that's she doesn't like to explain the concepts
Math 166 is a hard class and Ms. Ahmadi is a great teacher. Ignore the last comments. If you do your homework on time and ask question you can get an A or a B. She is smart and caring and a great teacher.
Don't take her if you aren't good at math. Also, she adds random assignments that aren't on the syllabus whenever she feels like it. Always 15 min late to class & not very helpful/eager to clarify. HW is online/for credit, 4 tests, 1 exam (cumulative). I don't recommenced her. I'm not being bitter, I have an A so far, but she isn't a good prof.
She did NOTHING for this class. She did not grade any assignments. There were even problems assigned but she wouldn't give the solutions. I dropped before first exam because she was absolutely useless.
I took her class online and it was pretty much self-study. You need to keep up with weekly homework and quiz. There 3 exams and they weren't easy. She laid out the class schedule very well. Slow grader. Response promptly but not super helpful.
Do Not Take Her! Working on my 4th degree, had to take this class because last time took over 10yrs ago. I'm educated and have run several businesses. Worse teacher I have ever come across. Said HW counted but wouldn't state when it was due. She was rude, unreasonable, & dismissive. She did NOT teach anything! Do Not Take Her Class!
Lots of negative comments on this professor which I find interesting. I had no issues, I even had to ask for an extension on one of the exams which the professor granted (was due to medical issues), I did the homework assignments and quizzes at my own pace, took the exams, and got the grade I deserved. Much better than my 152 prof. Karen Barr.
Let me tell you about this professor right here. If you struggle in math like me and need extra help or feedback to understand it, the. This professor is not for you. Didn't explain things well, study guide for exams were all over the place, no concern for your grade at all!
Never gave feedback on any homework or exams, even when I asked for it. Then said that he did email me feedback, but that was not true. Did not return any test grades until well after you had already taken the next exam, and never told you what you did wrong on the exams or how to correct your work. TERRIBLE. Do not take. Just facilitated.
Most of the time Professors are there to help you out, but not this one! I would email prof and literally she wouldn't even email back! I went throughout the whole course without knowing my grade because she never gives feedback. Worst online course I have EVER taken at Nova and I thank that to the Professor.
DO NOT TAKE HER AT ANY COST!! Take ANYONE else!! Im n my 40s, back for a 4th degree,Im very experienced w teachers(good & bad). I've NEVER had such a difficult, unhelpful,& despicable teacher. She withdrew me from the class, AFTER the refund date, with NO warning, even though I had As on all tests, claiming I was behind on hmwk-which wasn't graded!
Well, she isn't a bad teacher- she literally doesn't teach. She almost never answers your questions or answers them wrong, comes to class late constantly, and leaves at least twice a class to get coffee. Be aware that she'll show your homework grade in front of the class. Lots of homework. Very hard to get an A, but possible. Gets distracted a lot.
He has absolutely no participation in the class except for grading. He has never posted a single announcement. Learning is soley based on reading the book in my math lab. If you don't need a professor for your online course then it doesn't matter. But if you're looking for someone to teach you don't take him.
This professor is very off topic and doesn't take time to teach in class. Class time is spent doing problems from the textbook with little or no explanation. Although this professor will offer minimal extra credit for in class participation, it is not enough to make up for the lack of instruction she provides.
MTH 173 is a good course if you are driven, able to teach and learn by yourself, and are independent. Prof. Ahmadi will not help you with any questions or concepts. If this is the style of instruction you prefer, then this is the class for you. For me, at least, this class was perfect! :-)
I had an awful experience with Ahmadi. I ended up never going to class because whenever I went she'd spend the entire class talking about yoga or something else and then expect you to do the homework. I do not recommend her. I recently took the course again with another professor and recieved an A+.
I took the online course. You have to be able to teach yourself Math or you wont pass, the teacher will not help. She may or may not respond to your emails, when she does the responds are vague. I encourage everyone to use Khan Academy to help them understand Math. The homework and quizzes are easy, exams aren't too bad.
Whenever you ask a question she acts like you should already know and that you're dumb for not knowing. 3/10 would not take again.
Long story short, She's amazing at teaching Pre-Calculus but in my opinion horrible at Trigonometry, Also Conic Sections are not her based. But she does give a lot of extra credit for test in the form of going to the board and finding a mistake in another students work. She also tends to tell a LOT of lifestory which isn't all bad.
I have been going to NOVA for 5 years and this was by FAR the worst professor I have had to date. During the first 3 weeks I had sent the professor 4 emails and did not receive a single response. I finally received a response when I sent a 5th a month into the course asking who I should reach out to for help if she wasnt going to respond to any
12:30 to 2:30 pm ; The class accomplished five word problems. She killed time by dragging out the about mes of each student and the syllabus of the class (just reciting ,no paper). Unprepared and all over the place. She even stated at the beginning of class that most of our work would be independent and she would overview quickly during class.
She was the absolute worst. I don't think she should even teach. She legitimately said "don't ask me where this came from" and makes you feel like you re in a hostile learning environment. I felt judged for not getting everything immediately. Started going to another teacher for help, STAY AWAY FROM HER. SHE SHOULDN'T EVEN TEACH.
Nice person, good teacher. She gives a lot of extra credits.
She knows her stuff, but she also expects you to have a strong algebra background. Her tests are very easy.
She is a GREAT person. She provides plenty of life lessons and loves seeing her students succeed. When it comes to math, she has a hard time explaining certain problems, but if you do the homework you will get an A. Tests are easy.
In all honesty this professor is pretty tough. I am glad I took her though. She really teaches students on how to actually study correctly in order to succeed. You can get a good grade in her class if the effort is put in. She really does show that Math is all about repetition. She expects you to have a strong base in order to succeed in Calculus.
Shes really nice and care about her students. But if you wanna pass her class ypu have to study hard. Give lot of extra credits during class.
She is a great professor. She cares for her students, and she makes you work hard! I would take another course with her!!
Does not respond to emails despite being an online class. Does not offer extra credit. Class is self-taught b/c the professor does not teach at all. Tests do not correlate with the hw practice you receive. Uses web assign as software. Does not care about students. Assigns projects before a test. Very tough grader and doesn't even give feedback.
lol, took this class with her failed. took again with a different professor who is known to be more difficult and got an A. dont really understand her grading criteria. comes in late, talks about her life and then leaves. worst teacher. cant teach without solution manual and cant explain steps. not sure how she qualifies as a teacher.
She is a really nice person but she is often unclear. Math 151 is the most simple math class I've ever taken so it's a pretty easy class but I get confused in her class a lot. She will teach a chapter and you think you've got it but when you go to do the homework, it tells you to do it a completely different way? she also gets off topic alot.
She is a HORRIBLE teacher. I taught most of the material to myself because she was so unclear with her lectures. She was very unprepared for class, for example she would not bring her own textbook to class and would then take a students textbook for the class. She would also go way off topic giving "life lessons", don't take her class!!
I have struggled with math my whole life, and Professor Ahmadi did nothing to help this. She did not like to be contacted via email and was not very clear on many things. It was annoying that the exams were not available on Proctor U, because that is how I prefer to take exams. Exams were extremely difficult.
She's not the best math teacher, only take her if it's your only option. The entire class grade comes from 4 exams and the final. She doesn't show expert knowledge in the subject as she always has to look in the book to see what the answer is. The classroom environment is boring, you show up 3 days a week and she talks the entire time.
If you are taking this Professor online, please make sure you begin the work on time or she will drop you before the census date. I had to get the dean envolved just to get reinstated back into the class. She was very rude as well, so if you like getting help prepare yourself to have to go to the math lab for help!
Prof. Ahmadi is a great person, and also an excellent teacher. She has a high standard, and she helps her students to succeed. She is definitely a caring teacher. She tries very hard for her students to UNDERSTAND the concepts.
She is a very good teacher. She is friendly and makes math easy to understand!!
Definitely wouldn't recommend taking.
She is a caring, and she tries hard for students to understand math and do well in her class.
This teacher is really good! She cares alot about your grade and will encourage you at her best to get you a high grade. But she strongly pays attention to your attendance. You don't show up, she'll show no mercy.
- About Prof. Ahmadi, I'd say she's a tough grader. However, she is also very fair and does care about her student's success. If you truly care about the class and put some hard work in it, she's more than willing to give you a good grade. -About the MTH 174 8wk Online course, this class IS EXTREMELY HARD. 40 hours/week needed to barely get an A.
Rude. NO proctors. Lots of homework. three exams for twenty questions and worth two hundred points each. It's either you know the material or not. since it is only twenty questions it can help you or REALLY hurt you. two tries for quizzes. Uses Pearson Math Lab. it was ALWAYS down so plan accordingly. No extra credit.
Ahmadi is an extremely hard professor. All of her quizzes, tests, and homeworks are online: and they are wayyyy too easy to actually count as review. All are short answer, and you need to get a 100 percent or else she will call you out in class about it. Wouldn't recommend at all.
She is an awesome Professor. All she wants is for students to try hard. If you attend every class, and do your homework, she will work with you. She is friendly!!
She is kinda rude when you ask questions. She will not go over things when you ask her to. Towards the end of the class she will show more interest in you personally because haft the class has dropped out. If you're not good with learning math by yourself do not take this professor.
I took 2 courses with Professor Ahmadi. She is an amazing professor/person. I learned SO MUCH from her. She even helped me to get a job at school. I have to admit, I tried very hard in her classes, and got A's in both courses.
Do not and I repeat do not enroll in her class unless you want to risk lowering your GPA. Terrible at teaching and you're only graded on your test and quizzes. It doesn't matter if she fits into your schedule trust me do not take her class.
This online class is seriously an uphill battle if you're no good at high school Geometry and Algebra. The textbook glosses over crucial info, the system used for inputting equations into tests is primitive, and the professor's feedback is shallow at best. I recommend taking this course in-person, with any other professor.
Don't take this class! Horrible horrible horrible! Save your heart from a heart attack.
The first day she seemed to just drag and on and on about how we needed to use ALEKS, I personally am not a fan of ALEKS because it's just not my type of learning style. I ended up learning more from my friends and a tutor on campus more than this professor. Would not recommend her at all, take your chances with another professor.
She is the most caring teacher that I ever had at nova. She helped me to pick a major based upon my academic strength , and even helped me to get an internship at summer. I will always be grateful to her!!
I really enjoyed Professor Ahmadi's class. She will give you hints about a lot's problems that will be on the exam. She is a caring individual, she wants her students to do well in upper level math courses!
Here is the honest truth about Mrs. Ahmadi. If you actually care about your future and are determined to put all the time and effort into it, it's a great class. Granted, she doesn't go into specific detail about problems, all the work required is given on ALEKS. The questions on ALEKS, IMHO were tougher than her tests so do your ALEKS.
Prof. Ahmadi class is difficult for those who aren't at math, the only reason I got a good grade in her class was because I took Pre-calc in high school but other than that she won't really explain things. Her class will depend a lot on ALEKS but she does give clues throughout class what will be on her exams.
3 regular exams, Online HW, and a comprehensive final, each worth 20% of your final grade. The material on the homework isn't always on the test or even the same stuff, but if you work hard, an A is achievable. Also she gives off a vibe of being rude, but if you work hard you'll see she's a kind and caring person.
She makes you feel stupid when you dont understand. She wouldnt just explain to you but she would raise her voice to explain it, giving the impression that shes annoyed with your question and that you should know. She yells at students for explaining things better than her. Everything is taught on ALEKS
Out of all the professors Ive had at NOVA, she was by far the rudest. My entire class would look around & at each other when she attempted to answer questions. She was nice sometimes. The very first class, she told us to drop the class if our math skills werent great. Thats ok to set expectations, but she went on to say that every. single. class
Takes forever to respond to emails, all the practice you do is nothing like the exams, went into a test fully confident I knew how to do everything and thought I got at least a 70-80% and got a 40%. Your exams take up 80% of your grade and quizzes take 20%. I never get any feedback from my exams or my quizzes other than the quiz you take on Pearson
This professor absolutely loved to waste time in class going on lengthy life coaching sessions that one time lasted a full hour of class time. For my class she only had 5 grades for the semester, 3 exams, the final, and ALEKS. ALEKS was a major hinderance because it focused too much on prerequisite material. She doesnt listen to student criticism.
by far the worst/ rudest teacher I have ever had. She teaches so poorly THEN makes students feel stupid when asking questions and wont explain the problem thoroughly. Your grade is ALEKS, 3 tests and a final that arent even properly formatted or match up with the lectures. You are literally setting yourself up to fail by taking her class.
Professor Ahmadi is the worst professor I ever had in my entire student life. How come she is a professor. Such kind of person should not be a faculty and waste students valuable time and money. I think she really enjoys torturing her students and seeing them fail. Her grading criteria is unacceptable. Dont take her. Shes students nightmare!
Professor Ahmadi is the sweetest professor! Most people hate her coz they don't like to do the work required for the class!! She will basically tell you what will be on the tests! you show up to class and show her respect she will be happy to help you! she is a harsh grader but she gives a lot of extra points! I will definitely take her again!!
I took professor Ahmadi after I failed pre-calculus last semester. Not only she helped me succeed the course, I was also able to learn! she is a very good person! very helpful and kind! reading all this bad ratings leaves me speechless! If you work hard, you will succeed! if not, you won't! simple as that!
If you need a Math Professor, do not take her, he is the worse, she is really bad at grading, everything is wrong even though you do the work right.
Let me first say I am generally pretty good at math, and even took Calc 1 before in HS. However, I struggled with Ahmadi's online course. It was disorganized; discussion board posts due a week before the same section's Webassign hw was due, which meant you only had 1 day to read 4 sections. You would be better off with another Prof for online.
Its online you teach yourself. Lots of HW and weekly discussions which is mini projects about the chapter. She doesnt grade them just participation. UNLIMITED HW tried and 2 on quizzes 3 tests. do HW until you get 100, hint take quiz& take pics of it after u r done THEN take 2nd turn. You can get an A in this class!! Tests are questions from quiz
The 3rd worst professor I have ever had. She shows up late every class by about 10 minutes. Tries to be an inspirational speaker. She almost literally does not teach the material. Have any questions? Be prepared to be insulted and NOT have it answered. She does not need to be a professor in math. Over 1/2 class dropped in less than a month.
Sharis Ahamdi tries to be an "inspirational speaker" by explaining how what you do in this class will impact you for the rest of your life. However, in class, she does not explain how to do equations well and if you have a question, she will most likely blame you for not knowing the material.
When I read that this professor is disorganized, I just thought its nonsense. Its true, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Honestly, she should have had everything laid out clearly, especially when its an online class. Shell send an email of the weeks assignment. Some not matching the due date, dont know what to believe. Set you up to fail.
She is the worse professor in Math classes which I took. If you ever get this class, there is 60% of your score which you can get only 30% of it, not more. There is 3 test which is worth 20% each, and the tests are not same or something you learned from homework. I'm already good at math but this professor makes it much harder.
You know a semester will be bad when the Professor says 50% of the class will fail. Thats how math started with Sharis Ahmadi. Each class felt disorganized and shed spend half the half the class teaching life lessons. If you had a question, shed blame you for not knowing the answer or asking the right question.
The real worst professor I ever had. She doesn't care who is in front of her trying to understand and ask a question. The class is disorganized and homework due dates are not even synced with her announcements. The exams are not fully related to the lecture and h/w. You need to study for 40 hours/week to get an C or B if you already good at math.
Very unprofessional, rarely actually showing up on time. She writes <10 on the board each class and you'll be lucky if you even go through those questions. She is disorganized and wants to be a life coach (through her class). Most of the time the class is never actually learning the important content needed for the homework (online) or the exams
She spent half the class grading, leaving the classroom, being late, talking to us about not eating sugar, or something else dumb. When she taught math it was okay but it was a big waste of time being her class. Her tests were way too hard for the amount of information she actually taught us.
Let me tell you something. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR ANY REASON. She doesnt know how professor should teach the material and then use it to evaluate her students. She likes to talk about inspirational things. I don't know why someone who likes something else, come and teach MATH which is critical course for students in both teaching and grading.
She is horrible, she does not teach math, she talks a lot in her class about all the things in the world except math. one of the most annoying parts of the class is that she does not let anyone talk in class so, if you do not understand anything while she is teaching you can't ask for help in class. she comes 15-20 mins late to class every day.
Do not take this professor. She is horrible, disorganized, and unprofessional. She is always 15-20 mins late to class. She spends most of the class talking about her life and being a life coach. Also she is a horrible grader on tests. Half of the class dropped out.
She tries hard for her students to learn, and do well. She cares about her student very much. Glad that I had taken her!
I FINALLY PASSED!!!!! Take her, do your homework, and she will help you. BEST professor!
She definitely loves teaching and her students. She is very smart. If you do your assignments then she helps you to do well and pass her class.
She is one of favorite professors. She is very knowledgeable in her field. She is very passionate about teaching math, and cares for her students. If you do your homework and go to her classes then you do well on her exams.
She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful professor. She enjoys teaching. If you see her after class she helps you a LOT. She is a caring professor!!!
I had to drop the class because she never answers a question or help a student. I was totally lost and frustrated. Whenever I sent her an email asking a question, she either did not reply or she answered "read the syllabus" tests and quizzes never matches what we learned. I really wasted time and money .
Worst professor ever. Be ready to study 24/7 for this class.
Pre- & during COVID19, she would always show up 10-15 minutes late to the lecture (yes, even to online lecs) . She would simply provide us a sheet, which we would work on for the remainder of the class. It wouldnt be a problem, but she rarely taught any material, and whatever small about of material she DID teach, it was brief with no explanation.
Worst professor in the world, cannot believe she is allowed to teach. No calendar for half the semester (really!), so no idea when things were due. Forgot to give access to online textbook until 3 days before the due date. Replies to 1/10 emails. Disorganized; assigned "Unit 3 materials" then tested on "Unit 2" objectives. Can't follow own syllabus
I got an A in this class in HS, but it was impossible here. She assigned the wrong chapters in the textbook for the tests that week (which I corroborated with other students). This made our tests an invalid reflection of our studying and work. If you email her about problems like this, she won't reply. No idea how the campus allows her to teach
Love your GPA? Dont do it then! - Unresponsive to emails - Sets you up for failure - Have an emergency? She doesnt care - Takes a long time to grade anything - Get a bad grade? No explanation will be given Worst NOVA class Ive ever taken. Its as if she wants you to fail. Killed my GPA. Dont let her kill yours
I honestly don't think she was a bad professor, she's just not the best with online classes. I think she makes a good classroom professor. The way she broke things down during class (pre-pandemic) made them easy to understand. I highly suggest studying a lot with this professor (and course in general).
She wasn't a good professor at all. The way she handles the class is awful and she would come to class 15 minutes late every single time. Lectures were terrible and she would always belittle students. She even told me to "drop the class" which I'm glad I did since I was able to do well with another professor. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Theres no point in attending the zoom lectures when she BARLEY teaches the criteria required for the quizzes, homework, or tests (even though attendance is mandatory). So much homework is given and you basically have to teach the stuff yourself, if i would have known that I would have just took an online class not virtual. Am very unhappy...
Class is useless. Basically have been teaching myself through Organic Chemistry and Khan Academy on YouTube. Can't understand anything and she gives 30 seconds for a 3 minute problem. Hard to ask questions and get a straight answer. Just want to finish up the class at this point also the homework load is ridiculous.
Worst professor Ive had. Always discourages students and tells us to drop out. Shes very lazy and does not lecture well. Her English is not the best and therefore lessons are hard to understand. The workload is a lot too.
Professor Ahmadi is a highly problematic professor. The first several classes, she bragged about how many of us would fail. She rarely showed up on time for class. If someone asked a question, she would talk over them. Email correspondence was spotty and terse. While the ALEKS program she uses is high quality, she covers very little in the lectures
Professor Ahmadi is the absolute WORST professor I've ever had. She doesn't give feedback on grades (online class), and is certainly enveloped in her own ego. After speaking with friends also taking MTH161 with other professors, sounds like Prof. Ahmadi is the only one who doesn't provide partial credit on exams. Shouldn't be a professor. Skip her!
This was the worst professor I have ever encountered in my life. She would not teach the class often and would typically play a video of her reading over the notes and not explain anything to the class. This professor would be very demeaning and rude towards the students and showed a lack of respect for all. The workload she assigned was ridiculous
she deserves negative stars. By far the worst teacher I have had. There was not one class that she was on time. On top of that, she took another 10 min to complain about students not having their videos on. When teaching with doccam you cant see her write MML will determine your grade not the teacher. Shes rude to students.
Starts class late every time. Lectures pre-recorded from a class that had the luxury of asking ?'s only AFTER she had finished recording - she would cut them off. Video takes up the most of the class, she will be in another room. If you get lost you're screwed for the next 40 mins until she graces you with her presence, and was rude w/ answers.
Did terrible with the transition to online school. I learned nothing from this class and felt no personal connection to the Professor. I seriously suggest finding a different Professor especially if it is online.
She is definitely very knowledgeable in math. I did my homework and asked question in class, then anytime i asked for help she went out of her way to help! I would recommend her highly!
She is my favorite teacher. I worked so hard, and had an average was got 78, she gave me a B in the course. LOVE HER!!!!
Actually MTH154 DO NOT TAKE HER! I dont know how others gave her fair rating. She could literally careless. Never responds to emails. Took a Non oral lecture course, completely self-taught. How can someone be expected to complete an assignment with zero guidance or instructions. Her assignments and MathLab due dates were all mixed up. Miserable!
Did not even bother finishing the class. This lady has no clue how to teach via Zoom. You cannot understand a single thing she says. She does not do the notes with you, everything is prewritten. Not even my original professor. MyMathLab is what we use to do everything. If you like teaching yourself, then take this cause professor does nothing.
She is a VERY smart and friendly professors. She will definitely help you, IF you ask for help. She curves the grade at the end of the term. Just stay in the class and do the tests, and you will do well. Completing the assignments is the key to a success in HER course.
If u want to b in a math course where u teach everything to urself, then this class is for u. Lectures are no help at all (mandatory but don't count for a grade?), she constantly writes her notes down wrong and has to redo her work, and she's not the easiest to understand. Homework takes hours EVERYDAY and doesn't allow TI calculator use for tests?
She is an extremely intelligent and nice professor!! She spent one whole hour on Zoom with me the other day to go over a few problems. She cares about her students. She even talked to me about my major based upon my interest. THANK GOD for caring educators. She wants her students to succeed in her course and in life...
By far my BEST math professor at NVCC!! Knowledgeable, caring and nice. Just attend classes, and follow her instructions and you will be fine!!
She was so helpful during this 8 weeks online course. She even asked me to call her while panicking to take an online test at 11:30PM and had technical difficulties. She is one NICE, CARING professor!!!
Professor Ahmadi is a superb professor, and a great human being!!! I received at A on MTH 154 online. Thank you very much and god bless you for your compassion toward your students.
An intelligent and caring professor, just ask for help IF you need it and you will be in great hands!!
She is an intelligent and experienced professor who deeply care about her students. I became friends with her and she even helped me with finding a summer job. Am very grateful to her!!
I do not recommend this Professor unless you want to put in a ton of work and still receive a mediocre grade. I took her for precalc and it was WAY more difficult than the calculus class i am taking now.
Take her... I recommend her HIGHLY!!! She is very approachable and caring. She emailed me back in 2-3 minutes most of the time.
Some of the reviews say she's caring but she's picky about who she cares for. If you're completely fine with understanding math with no context, take her class. The things we learned in class show up on 10% of the homework and the rest consist of things we do not "learn". Very forgetful and refuses to see the viewpoint of students who need help.
Got a B!!!!!!!! I am so grateful for Prof. Ahmadi and also my grade. She is the best. Take her and you'll be happy with her.
She is a great professor who has genuine intentions for her students to learn math!! If you show Professor Ahmadi that you are putting effort to learn she will help you a whole lot. She is very smart and caring!
I really enjoyed her class and learned a lot!! She answered all my email right away and Zoomed with me when I was panicking about a test that I thought I missed! I would definitely take her again!!
She doesn't teach, she gave us a test on the syllabus that was just a complete time waste, and hid the answers regardless of correct or incorrect so if you got any wrong on this draconian exam you'd have to start over. The syllabus was written more like a threat. She doesn't even teach, what are we paying the hundreds of dollars to learn for?
Professor Ahmadi is a great professor. She helped me a lot. Answering ALL my emails in the fastest way. She is extremely understandable!
Prof Ahmadi always came to class at least 40 minutes late and then barely taught for 20 minutes and then class was over. Ask a question? Be prepared to be lectured on WHY you asked the question and not have the actual question answered. She even lost tests! Take her class at your own risk.
She gave me a 0 on a quiz I definitely took and I had to screenshot it to show her proof. She also hardly emails back if you need help, and assigns so much work. One module had 84 assignments
Prof Ahmadi was a lazy professor. Her online Zoom teaching method was poor and she put minimum effort into it. Whenever students would ask a question, she would embarrass them rather than explaining how to solve the problem. Required webcams at all times and would critique your background/set up if she didn't like it, but didn't count attendance?
Extremely rude. She spent the first hour of class chastising students that weren't sitting at a desk in a location she deemed appropriate. She refused to call me by my first name, calling me by my middle name stating "Im calling you that instead hopefully you know I'm talking to you"& called students out discussing their grade w/ the entire class
She is my favorite professor at college!! Extremely friendly and helpful. She is very knowledgeable about her field. Do your homework and you can easily get a very good grade!
She is totally cool, LOVE her!! She is knowledgeable and friendly. She likes to help students to pass the course. Just go to class and do homework and you'll Pass!
She is great, very helpful!! I emailed Prof. Ahmadi at 10:00PM and she replied within one minute. Just do your homework and you will do fine in her class.
this professor does not email back nor does she give feedback on assignments. worse professor ever. do not take her
This professor was very dismissive and not helpful what so ever. We would send multiple emails and still have never received answers. I took the 7 week asynchronous class and without using the text book and youtube i would not have passed the class.
Expects you to take notes while she lectures, but goes too fast. Doesn't explain things well. I relied entirely upon ALEKS to learn material. Homework is only mass amounts of ALEKS. If you get a D or an F on the final, that's your grade for the whole course! Ridiculous. Grade is 25% ALEKS and 75% Exams. Crippling amounts of homework.
Didnt read reviews on her until after I took her class. Coming up on the final exam in a few weeks and im terrified. Tons of homework. 3 total exams including the final. She gave us a practice exam for the last exam and it was nothing like it at all. Got a B+ on the practice and a D on the actual exam. Do not take her she only cares about hersel
Took 13 week online class. Bad attitude from day 1. Not afraid to share student grades without consent to the class. Always eating or talking on the phone during class time and never answered questions. Talks during exams. Tons of homework (average 10-15 hrs/wk w/o study time). Don't take her class. Look elsewhere. Doesn't even want to be there.
One of my favorite professor at Nova. She is very smart!! She cares for her student to be successful and she makes you understand the concepts!
She was not helpful at all and sucked at lectures. I would only learn and understand what she was talking about through aleks. Her tests were a bit a hard but super short. Most of the students would correct her problems all the time.
Prof Ahmadi is probably the worst professor I've ever had. I failed the class bc I missed 1 test due to me going to the hospital. Contacted her both through email and zoom and ignored both times. When I finally get a response, it's 'look at the syllabus.. you can't retake tests.' Whatever you do, even if you have to move a class around, DO NOT TAKE
Undeniably one of the worst teachers I've ever had. No preparation, no assistance, no respect, no communication, unashamed to call out people's grades without consent, talk during tests and even walk away during them. Relies entirely on ALEKS, but can't answer basic questions about it. She *might* be better in person, but she is a nightmare online.
Don't listen to others, if you follow her instructions, she will help you A LOT!!! Just do your homework, and take all the tests. She cares a lot about if students doing their homework.
She cares very much about her students. Very approachable and friendly professor!! She tries to help any student who goes to class and wants to do well. Just do your assignments and you do fine!
Professor Ahmadi is amazing, helpful, and friendly. She loves teaching and wants to help her students to be good in math. She helped me to do well in precalculus and also helped me to pick my major. She spent so much time talking to me on Zoom about what major fits my likings. I am very grateful to her!
Recommend her highly!! She is the only professor that actually listened to me and helped me to deal with my math anxiety. She is very kind, and understanding. She even advised me for the courses that i need to take in the future!
One of the best professors that I had at nova!! Friendly and nice. Take her and you'll see. Smart, Knowledgable , and helpful!
Caring professor!! She will help you for sure if you ask her. She will also curve the grades fairly at the end of the term. Doing homework is important to her!!
Very knowledgable, caring and good professor...She likes advising and helping her students to pick a good major. Just go to her class and do your homework, you'll be on her good side!!
if you're thinking of taking this professor, do yourself a favor and don't, she is the worst teacher ever!!!! She doesn't respond to emails and won't even try to help you. She is very unorganized and cares very little about the students. please look at the number of 1-star ratings, there are over 80 of them. Doesn't that tell you something?
She is knowledgable, friendly and nice! if you go to her classes and do most of your homework she will help you to do well. She is very passionate about math though. she is pretty good at storytelling!
She is one of my favorite professor! She is knowledgable, and caring. She helped me to pick my major by spending so much time talking with me about what I am good at. I am very grateful to Professor Ahmadi!!!
doesn't want to help you out at all.
She is great, finally getting a B in Calculus!!
One of my favorite professors at Nova. Easy tests!! a few times on weekend she emailed me back in two minutes :)
I wish she would teach MTH 264 next semester. Want to take her again!!!!
This Professor is the worse professor I've had in my life! She doesn't know how to grade, and she has short term memory loss. All she does is read from the textbook and doesn't know how to teach at all! She claims to be a math professor but she doesn't know how to calculate grades. She also does not know how to email back or write emails.
Horrible. Just horrible. And just FYI this professor's page is filled with fake positive reviews, guaranteeably written herself. Major red flag. Not even intelligent enough to change the tone/language between her fake reviews so it's completely obvious.
Learned a lot from her!! She is a great professor. I would take her again in a heartbeat!
Very heavy tests graded for a large portion of your grade that you can't view the results of.
She should be embarrassed to call herself a professor. Take this class if you want to be taught by the textbook and powerpoints exclusively. Tough grader and the tests and quizzes are difficult. Math is already hard enough, don't make it impossible for yourself with this "professor"
DO NOT take her, don't say I didn't warn u. You'll literally have to study all by yourself b/c she depends everything on Aleks. She's unorganized, unprepared, & comes late for every class, always calls us out to answer questions and discourage us when we answered wrong. During exam review , U can't review old topics on Aleks once they're overdue.
She's a horrible professor. She doesn't teach and just depends on ALEKS. Since she doesn't teach, students tend to talk to each other and help each other out, but she gets so offended by this. You would think this would make her realize her methods suck. She also goes on random "inspirational" tangents. Tbh she's rude asf too.
I regretted taking her class, I bet the majority of us are failing the class, not b/c the materials are tough but the way she was unorganized with her lectures and exams. Exam review are too long and didn't help much since the actual exam looked nothing like it. Wish she'd give out more extra credit so more of us could pass the class.
She literally doesn't know how to teach math properly and she relies on you to study on your own through ALEKS and you wont receive any help from her since she doesn't even know how ALEKS works. She doesn't want students to waste class time while trying to solve a problem that's on the board, but she will literally spend 20 minutes of class!!!!!!!
Good professor. Give a lot of opportunities to earn extra credits.
Great professor!!! She gives lots of extra credits:) She helps you a lot if you stay after class and explain your situation. Take her and go to every class and you'll be fine!
She helped me outside the class and I got a B in the class!!!
Professor Ahmadi is a tough teacher and grader. She wants you to really learn! Must complete MyLabMath assignments. Make sure you do not provide short and incomplete answers to activities. She explained this is a Quantative Reasoning class so explain your reasoning in depth. Email her and reach out and meet during TA hours. Do not take for easy A.
I will take her again for math 264 calculus 2 if she would teach it online
Part 1.... The class started with roughly 40 students and ended with 11. There were only maybe 5 grades in the entire class and they were all off of Aleks, which she doesn't know how to use so if you have an issue with it be prepared to move mountains. Lucky for me a group of us students got together and helped each other study ...
Part 2... because she was no help and would be condescending if you didn't know how to already do what she was teaching. Absolutely awful teacher and I'm very surprised the dean hasn't taken action on removing her from the school.
Her lectures are literally just grabbing words and problems from the textbook and nothing else. Tests are just grabbing question from ALEKS and you would have to get everything 100 percent right. Refuses to grade work even though you clearly got the answer right but just because the software doesn't accept it she punishes you for it.
Part 3... Also.... she's the one writing a majority of the positive reviews. Pretty shady if you have to take to this site and make so many emails to try to improve your RMP score instead of putting the effort into teaching your students.
I do not recommend taking this professor if you are not good in Math. This professor does not respond to her students emails, doesn't give clear instructions and over all doesn't care about any of the students in her class. I have been at NOVA for almost two years and I have never came across such a horrible professor. I do not recommend her.
Took the NOVA online course. It was okay, considering I never had to think about it outside of the math lab assignments she shoved at us and the occasional project. However, she rarely responds to her students. None of my classmates could contact her. On top of that, she doesn't take any late grades, so I was screwed when I got sick for a week.
Beware of this professor! I thought I could get through this class. I was brutally unprepared for the amount of work, and lack of instruction. According to a sample pop. interview of the class, she only went over about 15% of the exam material. She doesn't grade tests, teach correctly, or help students review in-class at all. Be prepared to fail.
This professor is a horrible teacher, doesn't teach at all. She doesn't allow for much review, most of our class failed. The learning program she uses piles so much homework on us that we can't actually get it done in time. I would consider myself a good student, but struggled immensely because she wouldn't teach us basic forms of functions.
I do not recommend this professor whatsoever. She is unprepared with no material on what she goes over for the day. Relies solely on the textbook & Aleks. Tbh I am unsure if she completely understands what she is teaching. Note sheets for exams are not allowed which makes them exceptionally difficult with the number of formulas needed to memorize.
I like Professor Ahmadi. If you go to her office hours she helps you out!! All the negative comments are from the students who don't go to class or don't study.
Knowledgeable and helpful. I like her a lot since she cares about her students. She even helped me to invest my money. Take her!
The class can be tough, but engaging with the unique teaching style and using tools like unstuckstudy AI alongside the textbook can really help. Attendance is a must, and the grading can be challenging, but the professor provides extra credit opportunities.
Very strict when it comes to deadlines. I was unable to submit an assignment due to NOVA's SMS outage and she did not let me submit the assignments even though they were completed AND sent to her through email the day they were due to prove that they were completed
If you have choice don't take her please.
I really appreciate how Professor Ahmadi delivers her lectures in a concise, engaging, and organized manner. The Aleks assignments are also extremely helpful. She is an exceptional teacher, as she makes learning enjoyable. Professor Ahmadi genuinely strives to ensure that every student feels confident in their understanding of the course material.
Honestly if she had a different teaching style, cared about students, was respectful, knew what she was doing, wasn't inconsistent with info, didn't call out grades in class, didn't go on tangents for 30 minutes, didn't lie about how extra credit worked, gave clear answers to questions, and didn't give so much homework, she'd be a great professor!
This professor gives a lot of extra credit opportunities that you earn by doing the test review. It's a way for you to be rewarded. I will say the homework is a lot, spend time and you'll be straight. If you study, the assessments will be very easy. I also appreciated the small talks about life, time, work ethic, it gave me different perspectives.
We started with 30 students and ended with about 12. She cannot teach and relies heavily on Aleks and the textbook. She gives pity points to not grade. Will go on dumb tangents to not teach. She called out our grades. Changed her mind regularly. Forgot the textbook often. Aleks is not helpful. She is never consistent. Do not take this class.
Whenever I would email a question, she wouldn't answer, so it was hard to get the help needed. It's also a very fast-paced class, so if you work, avoid this class like the plague.
She is very reliant on Aleks and the textbook, which she forgets a lot. So much homework on Aleks, it took up so much of my time compared to other classes. She will CALL STUDENTS OUT for many things such as not completeing homework, showing up 5 minutes late, and grades you got on hw or tests. She expects you to know everything about math already.
Great professor. Make sure you do the test reviews to do well on the tests!
She is actually a good teacher its just mth167 is a 5 credit course so its lots of material in a short amount of time, she helps the people that want to e helped and will speak with you and give you advice after class if you need. Lot's of extra credit opportunities just remember to do your ALEKS even if its a lot it helps the most. YOU CAN DO IT!!
Definitely a tough class. Lots of homework, be prepared to spend multiple hours a day on homework to stay on track. Test reviews are important and the most common way to get extra credit. Professor Ahmadi does go on off topic tangents, but she's always sharing useful and practical advice. Her lectures can be a bit fast but just ask questions.
