Excellent teacher. If you can write good essays, then both english 1 and 2 are easy A's. She never lets material get bring. Highly recommend.

I really dun understand why people say this about Miss bell. She is the best english teacher I have ever had, entertaining and helpful, lovely and sweet.

You must make an effort to read the assigned material before class. Good writers will become excellent writers in this class. You will learn to connect with the literature. Overall, this is a great professor because she chooses material carefully.

I hate English but she made it fun and easy- very helpful. When I messed up she gave me the option to do extra credit to help my grade. I love her stories and her laughter. She is amazingly understanding and makes it fun!

Put it this way.. she is a good teacher as long as you use your resources. That means go to her office hours, participate in class etc. If you just want to sit there and do last minute essays and your not a very good writer please don't take this class.

This was the best and most enjoyable class I've ever taken. This class convinced me to change my major to English/Women's Studies. It was called IMAGES OF WOMEN IN LITERATURE, and it was the first time taught in a few years.

Professor Bell is a very fair teacher. She brings fun an unusual stuff to read. Very picky on your papers, so watch comma splices, and run on sentences.

She is the best teacher I have ever had. She opened my mind to so many new things and I love her material. I would recommend this class to anybody with any kind of ambitions. Good teacher. Very tough grader. Makes a dull class a little more fun. Tends to go off topic, but in an english class that is a good thing. Also very nice and loves her students.

Was surprised about the negative comments. And of course teachers have favorites. They are humans. But I really doubt she would let people get away with anything because of it. Great class, great material, wish she taught more advanced lit. classes.

I recommend anyone to take her class in Summer 2005. She'll be teaching English 39 Images of Women in Literature again! Loved taking it in Summer 2004 which improved my ability produce presentations and I wrote! I've improved my writing with each course I've taken with her! Should teach higher lit.

Great Class! Doesn't go into great detail regarding the papers she wants written. Just listen in class and read the assignments and you will pass. Very entertaining!

She is the best teacher I have ever had. Great class material, great class discussions, and a really great lady. Kind, helpful, and thoughtful. English 39 was a pleasure I only wish I took her for Eng 1 and 2.

I think she's pretty cool. My friend recommended her to me and I don't regret going to her class. I hate the pop quizes and everything, but I understand that she just wants to know who's been reading the material and what not. She's a cool human being, very stylish, older lady, and very sweet.

Sharon is very sweet and willing to help her students. As long as you pay attention, do the work and meet her basic requirements you should do fine. Be sure to write papers that are interesting to her, and not just yourself.

One of the best Professors I've ever had. She actually reads your paper and goes over it with fine comb..erm red pen I mean. The thing is she actually helps you figure out what your mistakes are and gives you a chance to fix them. Not only that but she is a nice person and actually seems to care about her students. I'd recommend.

Took her over the winter so the class was accelerated. She was very funny and the class readings were amazing. She is a nitpicker but overall a damn good teacher. Want to get an A? Don't miss class, speak during class [Even if it's a short comment], pay attention to what she says, and ask her for help if you have trouble on your paper.

Sharon is a really wonderful lady and super-easy to work with. It helps to be friendly and talk to her like a real person.

This teacher is truly great! Her assignments were really fun, and I do not like to read, however the books she chose turned out to be GREAT ones! I like her casual style of teaching, and she really has fun stories & likes it when you participate in non-class-related discussions! She's overall really great, and so is the class! I'd take her again!

Professor Bell is an understanding person who would take the time to help you understand the subject and help you get the assignment done. She is also a very multi-cultural teacher who would not give you grade based on your language barrier. Instead she would motivate you to try your best so to learn proper english and get better language skills

i took this teacher and she was really nice...her class wasn't hard and she didn't demand much, perhaps about 3 or 4 essays the whole semester...the books we read weren'r hard, so it was easy writing on them. i recommend taking her, her class isn't overwhelming.

Definitely one of the best teachers at SMC. She has made me more enthusiastic about english and literature. She takes her job seriously, and encourages students to become better writers. She can be strict at times, but this is college. People who are still in the high school mindset need not apply.

According to her, she's a difficult Eng21A professor, but for Eng2 she was easy. She was always available for her students; many students even went to her home. She spoke clearly. Her course was comprised primarily of short stories and poetry. Because of this, reading was minimal, and quality over quantity was emphasized, particularly with grammar.

The class is super easy. The teacher is easy to talk to and helpful. She loves helping students and can be very understanding. I hate English and have always failed English since I can remember, but Ms. Bell really helped me a lot. She believes that "Writing is a Process." I highly recommend her. I just love this professor. she loves her students and her job. She is very passionate and extremely ready to help students who work hard. If you put effort on every assignments and if you turn them in on due dates, you will get full credit. final was take home and there was a nice party at her home on the final day..highly recommanded!

I had no interest in English but I had to take it as a pre requisite for my career. Ms Bell has helped me in so many ways. She is very easy to talk to if you have problems, door is always open, fun personality, and love the topics that she chooses to teach from so the class is never boring. I absolutely love her. I had zero interest in literature when I took her class. Her enthusiasm for Faulnker, Hemingway, et al forced me to actually pay attention to the readings and I came away with a somewhat liking of the subject. As a professor, she is enthusiastic and willing to help those who are willing to put in the time to make their writing better.

Professor Sharon Bell is very passionate about her work! She's one of those professors who genuinely care about her students. She grades fairly, so just put in your work, and you get the right grade :) Final is take home. Her class is a great learning experience. Easy. I Highly recommend you to take her!! All of the first comments have failed to mention that Professor Bell lets you rewrite the essays as many times as you like to get a higher grade. No other Professor would do this. She is fun and passionate about teaching. You can have a teacher-student friendship.

To be honestly, Professor Bell is not an easy professor. She has over 10 quizzes, 10 homework and several essays. She is a strict grader , and she will minus 10 points from your paper if you were late in her class; moreover, she does not accept late papers, and that means that you will lost 20 points each time if you forgot your home work.

Professor Bell was pretty good. She had several quizzes but they were super easy. Just do the reading and you'll be fine. She's really nice and helpful in office hours. A lot of people were struggling in my class and I'm not sure why. I didn't really try that hard to do well, I just kinda figured stuff out as we went and got an A. Would recommend.

I had Bell over the summer for english 1&28. Her class is so easy as long as you kiss up to her. She gives many quizes and lot of busy work. She cares a lot about her students. She also lets you rewrite essays, when you get a bad grade. i passed her class with a A

Easy class. But there is a lot of work in this class. So many quizzes, exams, and homework. I recommend this class to international students or someone who just wants an easy A in English 2. Like I said there is a LOT of work in this class, but she grades easily. If you want to improve your literary analysis skills, take another professor.

LOL this professor is something else. She gave me a %100 on a quiz I didn't take. She also gave whole class 30 points on a 10 point assignment because she doesn't really know how to use the canvas. Because of that, I got an A. Literally 90.0 %. Finally, I got lucky in some class. Let me tell you tho she favors some of her students over the others.

It is an easy class. Definitely an easy A, if you do all the work in a timely manner. However, she is really strict about deadlines. If you turn in your paper 1-2 mins late, she marks it as late, and that will probably cost you a letter grade.

I took English 1&28 during summer. Great Teacher. She grades kind of hard, but helps you understand and learn from your mistakes. She is a caring teacher, but don't get on her bad side. Make sure not to fall asleep in class either because she does not play about that.

Easy A. She seems a bit confusing and her feedback is very vague but she will make sure you pass and give you multiple chances to correct your work if its not the way she wants. The slightest bit of effort in her class will get you an A. She is also very sweet and funny. Highly recommend if you're just tryna get ENG 1 out of the way and an easy A

Easy A. If you're patient you'll pass bc she can be a little confusing sometimes. Theres a few papers you'll write including an 8 page research paper but she will answer any question you have and makes sure you understand what you're doing.

You either really enjoy this class or really dislike it. Don't get on her bad side cause you'll get an A if you suck up to her

My peers were not too fond of her but I thought she was great. She is an easy grader she simply likes everything in a certain way to improve your writing structure. Most of the time she will let you fix things for a perfect score. She also focuses on teaching the class about different cultures ie: Asians, Black people, Muslims, etc

This class is really interesting. In fact, I ended up purchasing a number of books related to the syllabus. The syllabus is well-streamlined, which makes it easy to turn in work on time. She is sympathetic and will work with you if any issues arise. She responds to emails quickly and will gladly answer any homework questions you may have.

This professor for English at SMC provides extra credit if you put in the effort. Very caring as well.
